Previous molecular phylogenetic analyses have demonstrated that Saxifragaceae sensu lato are polyphyletic, with component lineages scattered throughout the eudicots. As part of our effort to elucidate the relationships of members of Engler and Prantl's Saxifragaceae s. l., we undertook a molecular systematic study of subfamily Brexioideae, which comprises three genera:Brexia, Ixerba, andRoussea. Not all taxonomic treatments have concurred, however, in placing these genera together. To elucidate relationships among these three genera as well as their relationships to other angiosperms we constructed large data sets ofrbcL, 18S rDNA, andrbcL + 18S rDNA sequences. Our phylogenetic analyses indicate clearly that Brexioideae are polyphyletic.Brexia is part of a celastroid clade that also includesParnassia, Lepuropetalon, and Celastraceae.Ixerba appears as sister to a large eurosid I clade;Roussea appears as part of Asterales. Molecular data, therefore, indicate that Brexioideae are a polyphyletic assemblage and component genera should ultimately be incorporated into other groups. Our studies continue to demonstrate the polyphyly not only Saxifragaceae s. l., but also of its constituent subfamilies. The first author would like to dedicate this paper to Kurt Schuchart, a good friend who passed away during this research. 相似文献

Chromosome numbers, mainly gametic, are given for 28 populations belonging to 13 species in ser.Ceratophyllae as circumscribed byWebb & Gornall. From a cytological point of view, we report or confirm the occurrence of aneuploidy in at least 8 of the 19 species recognized. This phenomenon, together with the technical difficulties inherent to the genus, is responsible for a number of incorrect or imprecise previous reports which are here questioned. Aneuploidy and the karyological instability behind it apparently reflect very active extant processes which might play an important role in the evolution of the group. Cytological and morphological data allow the recognition of four groups; one of them is likely to constitute a monophylectic group (ser.Ceratophyllae sensu stricto) but, the monophyly of the seriesCeratophyllae sensu lato is questioned. 相似文献

Cladistic relationships of epacrids and vaccinioids (Ericaceae) are investigated using nucleotide sequence data from the chloroplast encodedmatK gene. Sequences of 56 taxa were aligned and analyzed using parsimony methods. Results show thatVaccinioideae as currently recognized are not monophyletic. The epacrids are sister to a clade that includes theLyonia group, theGaultheria group, and theVaccinieae. Arbutus andPyrola branch early inEricaceae, before the rhododendroid group.Enkianthus is sister to the remainingEricaceae (includingEpacridaceae).Vaccinieae are strongly supported as monophyletic, butVaccinium andAgapetes are polyphyletic. 相似文献

The chloroplast gene encoding ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate-carboxylase (rbcL) was sequenced for phylogenetic analysis of 13 species (10 genera) in the tribePolygonatae s.l. of theLiliaceae-Asparagoideae. The data were analysed using maximum parsimony and neighbour-joining methods. There were 233 phylogenetically informative sites out of 1368 base pairs compared. The results suggest that there are three monophyletic groups withinPolygonatae s.l. with high bootstrap confidence values. Group A representsPolygonatae s.str., with generaMaianthemum, Smilacina, Convallaria, Disporopsis, andPolygonatum. Group B containsUvularia andDisporum and group C includesStreptopus, Tricyrtis, Clintonia, andProsartes. The study suggests thatPolygonatae s.l. are not a monophyletic group, including at least three groups of different phylogenetic origin. Monophyly of the taxa within groups A, B, and C is supported by the high bootstrap confidence values (85–100%) of the bootstrap replications for both parsimony and neighbour-joining methods. The differences between each group (calculated as 100x base substitutions per site) were 6.99–9.03 for group A and B, 4.92–7.35 for A and C, and 6.66–7.57 for B and C. 相似文献

Historically, Pappophoreae included the genera Cottea, Enneapogon, Kaokochloa, Pappophorum and Schmidtia. Some authors consider this tribe as a well-supported monophyletic group; while other evidences reveals Pappophoreae as polyphyletic, with Pappophorum separated from the rest of the tribe. When the latter happens, it can form a clade with Tridens flavus. Molecular phylogenetic analyses of the subfamily Chloridoideae have included few species of Pappophoreae; therefore, further research involving more representatives of this tribe is needed. With the aim of providing new evidence to help clarify the phylogenetic position of Pappophorum and its relationships with other genera of the tribe and the subfamily Chloridoideae, eight new sequences of ITS and trnL-F regions of Pappophoreae species were generated. These sequences were analyzed together with other available sequence data obtained from GenBank, using maximum parsimony and Bayesian inference, for individual (trnL-F or ITS) or combined trnL-F/ITS data sets. All analyses reveal that Pappophoreae is polyphyletic, with Pappophorum separated from the rest of the tribe forming a well-supported clade sister to Tridens flavus. 相似文献

Systematic studies of the antarctic species of the phyllophoraceae (Gigartinales,Rhodophyta) based on rbcL sequence analysis 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The taxonomic placement of four antarctic species of the marine red algal family Phyllophoraceae (Gigartinales) is assessed within a preliminary molecular phylogeny of the family based on direct sequence analysis of the chloroplast gene rbcL. Parsimony analysis of rbcL sequences indicates that Gymnogongrus antarcticus and Gymnogongrus turquetii cluster in a clade consisting predominantly of southern hemisphere species currently placed in Gymnogongrus and Ahnfeltiopsis, whereas Phyllophora ahnfeltioides and Phyllophora antarctica cluster in a separate clade that is widely divergent from the northern hemisphere Phyllophora clade. Results from molecular and morphological data challenge the current taxonomic concept that type of life history is a phylogenetically valid criterion for recognition of genera in the Phyllophoraceae. 相似文献

The new brown algal species Cladosiphon takenoensis H. Kawai (Chordariaceae, Ectocarpales s.l.) is described from Takeno, Hyogo, Japan based on morphology and DNA sequences. The species is a spring annual, growing on subtidal rocks at more or less exposed sites. It resembles C. umezakii in its gross morphology, and the two often grow together, but is distinguishable from C. umezakii in having a more hairy appearance. Cladosiphon takenoensis has a slimy, cylindrical, multiaxial and sympodial erect thallus, branching once to twice, and is provided with long assimilatory filaments (up to 1.8 mm long, composed of up to 100 cells). Unilocular zoidangia are formed on the basal part of assimilatory filaments. The species is genetically most related to C. umezakii and has the same basic thallus structures, but differs from C. umezakii and other Cladosiphon species in lacking phaeophycean hairs and plurilocular zoidangia of the assimilatory filaments. DNA sequences of the mitochondrial cox1 and cox3, chloroplast atpB, psaA, psbA and rbcL genes and the nuclear rDNA ITS2 region support the distinctness of the species. The genus Cladosiphon was paraphyletic in our analyses because the clades of C. okamuranus/C. zosterae and C. takenoensis/C. umezakii were split by Mesogloia vermiculata. However, since the genus‐level taxonomy of Chordariaceae needs considerable revision, we suspend the genus‐level taxonomy of the new species, and tentatively describe it as C. takenoensis. 相似文献

广义的紫菀属(Asters.l.) 狭义紫菀属(Asters.s.)与从Asters.l.

The molecular systematics of some agar- and carrageenan-containing marine red algae based on rbcL sequence analysis 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
A hypothesis of phylogenetic relationships inferred by parsimony analysis of plastid-encoded rbcL sequences is presented for red algae containing agar- and carrageenan-like phycocolloids; rbcL encodes the large subunit of ribulose 1,5 bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase. Previous studies have shown that Floridean families that contain sulfated galactans as cell wall components are resolved as a monophyletic clade sister to the agarophyte order Ahnfeltiales. Families that have been identified as containing kappa-type carrageenans, often in addition to lambda-type carrageenans, are resolved in three clades: (1) a complex containing the families Solieriaceae, Cystocloniaceae, Hypneaceae, Caulacanthaceae, Tichocarpaceae, Furcellariaceae, and the genera Turnerella and Opuntiella; (2) the Gigartinaceae and Phyllophoraceae, and (3) the genus Endocladia. Except for Tichocarpus and Endocladia, these are all members of the Gigartinales sensu Kylin (1956). Most of the families previously placed in the Cryptonemiales by Kylin appear to contain only lambda-type carrageenans. These fall into two groups, one that clusters with typical carrageenophyte- and the other with typical agarophyte-taxa. The first of these includes the families Polyideaceae, Kallymeniaceae, Dumontiaceae, and Rhizophyllidaceae. The second includes the type family of the Cryptonemiales, the Halymeniaceae, which is divisible into two well-supported clades, one of which possesses special lambda-like carrageenans, the aeodans, and the Schizymeniaceae, a recently created family containing two former gigartinalean genera. The agarophyte orders Gelidiales, Gracilariales and Ceramiales are well resolved as monophyletic clades, but their topological positions are poorly resolved. The Gelidiales and Ceramiales are associated, but the Gracilariales is included in a clade that contains families belonging to the Rhodymeniales, a possible agarophyte order. Finally, two groups that may contain lambda-like carrageenans, the Plocamiales and the Sarcodiaceae, are resolved as separate clades. 相似文献

We determined the gyrB gene sequences of all 17 hybridizations groups of Aeromonas. Phylogenetic trees showing the evolutionary relatedness of gyrB and 16S rRNA genes in the type strains of Aeromonas were compared. Using this approach, we determined the phylogenetic position of Aeromonas culicicola MTCC 3249(T), isolated from midgut of Culex quinquefasciatus. In the gyrB based-analysis A. culicicola MTCC 3249(T) grouped with A. veronii whereas, it grouped with A. jandaei in the 16S rRNA based tree. The number of nucleotide differences in 16S rRNA sequences was less than found with the gyrB sequence data. Most of the observed nucleotide differences in the gyrB gene were synonymous. The Cophenetic Correlation Coefficient (CCC) for gyrB sequences was 0.87 indicating this gene to be a better molecular chronometer compared to 16S rRNA for delineation of Aeromonas species. This strain was found to be positive for the cytolytic enterotoxin gene. PCR-Amplicon Sequence Analysis (PCR-ASA) of this gene showed that the isolate is affiliated to type I and is potentially pathogenic. These PCR-ASA results agreed in part with the gyrB sequence results. 相似文献

The about 31 species of Fosterella L.B. Sm. (Bromeliaceae) are terrestrial herbs with a centre of diversity in the central South American Andes. To resolve infra- and intergeneric relationships among Fosterella and their putative allies, we conducted a phylogenetic analysis based on sequence data from four chloroplast DNA regions (matK gene, rps16 intron, atpB-rbcL and psbB-psbH intergenic spacers). Sequences were generated for 96 accessions corresponding to 60 species from 18 genera. Among these, 57 accessions represented 22 of the 31 recognized Fosterella species and one undescribed morphospecies. Maximum parsimony and Bayesian inference methods yielded well-resolved phylogenies. The monophyly of Fosterella was strongly supported, as was its sister relationship with a clade comprising Deuterocohnia, Dyckia and Encholirium. Six distinct evolutionary lineages were distinguished within Fosterella. Character mapping indicated that parallel evolution of identical character states is common in the genus. Relationships between species and lineages are discussed in the context of morphological, ecological and biogeographical data as well as the results of a previous amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) study. 相似文献

Nucleotide sequence variation of the chloroplast rbcL gene of 78 representatives of Jungermanniales suborders Jungermanniineae and Cephaloziineae and five outgroup species is
analysed using maximum parsimony and maximum likelihood. Jungermannia s.l. is resolved in three independent lineages corresponding to Jungermannia subgen. Jungermannia, Liochlaena and Solenostoma (incl. subgen. Plectocolea). Based on the outcome of the phylogenetic analyses we adopt a narrow generic concept of Jungermannia and accept the genera Liochlaena and Solenostoma. Contrary to proposed hypotheses, the monospecific genus Eremonotus is not nested in Scapaniaceae, Gymnomitriaceae, Cephaloziellaceae or Cephaloziaceae but placed in a clade together with Jungermannia s.str., Liochlaena, Delavayella and Leiocolea. These genera possess female involucres consisting solely of leaf tissue (perianths). Related clades comprise genera with
female involucres originating at least partly from stem tissue. We propose to include Delavayella, Eremonotus, Jungermannia s.str., Leiocolea and Liochlaena in Jungermanniaceae based on the phylogenetic reconstructions of cpDNA variation and the distribution of perianths in Jungermanniales
suborder Jungermanniineae. 相似文献

ITS of the nrDNA were sequenced for 21 taxa inIxoroideae and outgroups (Rubiaceae) and compared with sequences of the cp-generbcL. Separate and combined analyses were performed. ITS-variation was extensive and, because of alignment ambiguities, some sites were excluded from the analyses. Several topologies from therbcL analysis that conflicted with earlier classifications are corroborated by the ITS data: 1)Posoqueria should be excluded fromGardenieae. 2) The disputed genusBertiera, previously inGardenieae, is basal in an extendedCoffeeae, includingTricalysia. 3)Ixora should be excluded fromPavetteae. 4)Vangueria, (Antirheoideae), belongs toIxoroideae. This affiliation ofAntirheoideae tribes withIxoroideae is also shown by new ITS andrbcL data forAlberta. Incongruities found between the two data sets may be caused by density of taxon sampling, different evolutionary rates, phylogenetic sorting, homoplasy caused by functional constraints, or sampling of non-orthologous ITS types. 相似文献

Chloroplast DNA restriction-site variation was analyzed in 30 accessions representing 20 species from the major lineages in Thlaspi s.l. (previously described as genera by Meyer 1973, 1979) and allied genera from the subtribe Thlaspidinae (Peltaria, Teesdalia, Cochlearia, Ionopsidium, Aethionema). A total of 161 variable restriction sites were detected. Phylogenetic analyses indicated a division of Thlaspi s.l. into three groups consistent with Meyer's genera Thlaspi s. str., Microthlaspi and Noccaea/Raparia. The genus Thlaspi s.l. as currently described proved to be paraphyletic because one of its major lineages, i.e. Thlaspi s. str., appeared to be more closely related to other genera (Peltaria, Teesdalia) than to the remaining lineages of Thlaspi s.l., i.e. Noccaea/Raparia and Microthlaspi. Sequence divergence values (100 x p) between the Thlaspi s.l. lineages were similar to values between these groups and related genera (Teesdalia, Peltaria), respectively. Chloroplast DNA variation was also used to assess subtribal classification of the genera studied. The cpDNA data were inconsistent with the controversial taxonomic classifications based on morphology. The molecular data would suggest that (1) the subtribe Thlaspidinae, as traditionally described, is not monophyletic; (2) the Thlaspidinae should be reduced to a group consisting of Thlaspi s. str., Peltaria, Teesdalia, Microthlaspi, Noccaea/Raparia, and that Aethionema should be excluded from the Thlaspidinae; and (3) Cochlearia and Ionopsidium represent the subtribe Cochleariinae. 相似文献

The occurrence of gynodioecy in two populations in northern England of the normally hermaphroditeSaxifraga granulata is reported. Female plants have aborted stamens, and smaller petals than hermaphrodites. At Staindrop, County Durham, an
estimated 23% of the flowering stems were female; at Macclesfield, Cheshire, 4% were female. The inheritance of male sterility
is not simple, and probably involves at least one cytoplasmic and two nuclear genes. The secondary sexual characteristics,
hermaphrodite-predominant sex ratios, and complex inheritance of male sterility, are typical of gynodioecious populations. 相似文献
