We present three cases of post-transfusion purpura (PTP) developing in the immediate post operative period after open heart surgery. All had developed platelet specific antibodies and severe anaphylactoid reactions occurred to platelet transfusion in two cases. Treatment with high dose intravenous immunoglobulin (IV IgG) led to complete recovery in two patients one of whom demonstrated a marked biphasic response pattern to therapy. The other died from congestive cardiac failure. PTP is a potentially fatal complication which may well become more frequent with increasing blood product usage.  相似文献

To investigate whether Addison''s disease may in some cases be due to the blocking of adrenocorticotrophic hormone''s action at the adrenal cortex by antibodies IgG isolated from a woman with Addison''s disease associated with the autoimmune polyglandular syndrome type I was studied. Its effects on guinea pig adrenal cells in vitro were investigated and compared with those of IgG from three normal subjects and IgG obtained commercially. IgG from the patient inhibited the stimulation of cortisol secretion by adrenocorticotrophic hormone by 77 (SD 2)% and 57 (12)% at concentrations of 0·5 and 0·05 g/l, respectively; IgG prepared five months after she had started treatment with replacement steroids inhibited cortisol secretion by 74 (1)% (0·5 g/l) and 51 (15)% (0·05 g/l). The other IgGs had no inhibitory effects. The IgG from the patient and that obtained commercially did not inhibit the stimulation of cortisol secretion by dibutyryl cyclic adenosine monophosphate or precursors of cortisol. None of the IgGs bound to adrenocorticotrophic hormone.These results suggest that the IgG from the patient acted against the receptor for adrenocorticotrophic hormone, and its presence may explain the patient''s raised concentrations of adrenocorticotrophic hormone, failure to respond to exogenous adrenocorticotrophic hormone, and normal basal cortisol concentrations. Addison''s disease may thus in some instances be a receptor antibody disease.  相似文献

Efficacy of timentin was studied in the treatment of 19 patients with peritonitis of various etiology and clinical and laboratory signs of systemic inflammatory reaction characteristic of abdominal sepsis. The clinical and bacteriological effects were recorded in 84.2 and 87.5 per cent of the cases respectively. The drug was administered intravenously dropwise for 30 minutes in a dose of 3.1 g every 4 hours. The treatment course was 4-11 days. The treatment failed in 3 patients. One of them had general peritonitis of gynecological etiology. In the other no significant regression of abdominal sepsis was observed, Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains were isolated from the abdominal cavity, the antibiotic was changed, still incurable polyorganic insufficiency developed and the patient died. The third patient had perforation of the large intestine due to tumor. No adverse reactions to the use of timentin in any of the cases was observed.  相似文献

The influence of maternal antibodies on clinical and serological response after experimental inoculation with Babesia divergens of newborn calves was studied. Five calves, born to dams seropositive for B.divergens, (Group 1) had specific maternal antibodies when tested 12 h after their first feeding of colostrum. At that point they were inoculated i.v. with B.divergens infected erythrocytes. Five other calves, born to dams seronegative for B.divergens, (Group 2) had no Babesia specific maternal antibodies when inoculated at the same age. Babesia divergens organisms were demonstrated in blood smears from calves in both groups at some point 5 to 10 days p.i. All calves in both groups had B.divergens specific IgM antibodies at 7 to 17 days p.i. as shown by a modified IF-test. Specific IgG antibodies, transferred by colostrum, were found in all calves of Group 1 before inoculation of B.divergens. The IgG titre of these animals increased by a doubling dilution step at 11–25 days p.i. Among calves of Group 2 specific IgG antibodies were found at first between day 9 and 15 p.i. Both IgM and IgG antibody titres had to be investigated since demonstrated IgG antibodies can originate both from maternally transferred antibodies and from actively produced antibodies after an infection. There was no difference in clinical parameters; parasitaemia, PCV, Hb, and rectal temperature between the groups. This experiment gives evidence that there can be a resistance to bovine babesiosis in newborn calves independent of maternal antibodies.  相似文献

 At our laboratory we are currently evaluating the suitability of mouse/human chimeric monoclonal antibodies (cmAb) for use in radioimmunotherapy of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). We have developed cmAb containing the human constant IgG1 domain and the variable domains of murine mAb (mmAb) E48 and U36 respectively. We considered the tumour-bearing nude mouse to be a well-validated model for a first testing of the targeting capabilities of these cmAb in comparison with the mmAb. Therefore, 3 μg cmAb E48 (labelled with 125I) and 3 μg mmAb E48 (labelled with 131I) were simultaneously injected into HNSCC-bearing nude mice and, at various assay times, mAb uptake in blood and other tissues was assessed. Remarkably, while in roughly 50% of the animals the biodistribution of the conjugates was similar, in the other animals cmAb E48 showed a much higher blood clearance than mmAb E48. This resulted in a lower tumour uptake of cmAb E48 in comparison with mmAb E48. To determine whether this phenomenon was related to mAb E48 or to the animal model, other cmAb-mmAb combinations were evaluated in the same way: cmAbs SF-25, 17-1A and U36 (all IgG1) were tested and all showed a rapid elimination in about 50% of the animals. Besides a decrease in blood concentration, an increase of cmAb levels in liver and spleen was observed within 24 h after injection. Isotype-specific enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays showed that mice that demonstrated a rapid elimination of cmAb from the blood had much lower endogenous IgG1, IgG2b and IgG3 titres than mice showing normal clearance. IgG2a levels were low in all mice. Biodistribution experiments with 3 μg chimeric 17-1A isoforms showed high blood clearance in a proportion of the mice for IgG1, IgG3 and IgG4, but not for IgG2. Increase of the cmAb dose to 100 μg resulted in a similar cmAb and mmAb biodistribution in all mice. Moreover, the biodistribution of the F(ab′)2 fragment of an IgG1 cmAb was similar for all mice in contrast to that of coinjected whole IgG. On the basis of these results it can be hypothesized that, in mice with low endogenous IgG titres, cmAb with specific isotypes are rapidly removed from the blood (and ultimately from the body) by mediation of Fc-binding receptors. Apparently, in mice with high endogenous IgG titres or in mice receiving a high cmAb dose, these receptors are saturated. Furthermore, the rapid elimination of cmAb from nude mice, which may occur after injection at a low dose, is a phenomenon related to the nude mouse model. A seven-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV7) was introduced in the Danish childhood immunization program (2+1 schedule) in October 2007, followed by PCV13 starting from April 2010. The nationwide incidence of IPD among children younger than 5 years nearly halved after the introduction of PCV7 in the program, mainly due to a decline in IPD caused by PCV7-serotypes. We report the results from a nationwide population-based cohort study of laboratory confirmed IPD cases in children younger than 5 years during October 1, 2007 to December 31, 2010 and describe the characteristics of children suspected to present with a vaccine failure. The period between April 19 and December 31, 2010 was considered a PCV7/PCV13 transitional period, where both vaccines were offered. We identified 45 episodes of IPD caused by a PCV7 serotype (23% of the total number) and 105 (55%) caused by one of the 6 additional serotypes in PCV13. Ten children had received at least one PCV7 dose before the onset of IPD caused by a PCV7 serotype. Seven children were considered to be incompletely vaccinated before IPD, but only three cases fulfilled the criteria of vaccine failure (caused by serotypes 14, 19F and 23F). One case of vaccine failure was observed in a severely immunosuppressed child following three PCV7 doses, and two cases were observed in immunocompetent children following two infant doses before they were eligible for their booster. None of the IPD cases caused by the additional PCV13 serotypes had been vaccinated by PCV13 and there were therefore no PCV13-vaccine failures in the first 8-months after PCV13 introduction in Denmark.  相似文献

In order to study the effect of oxymetholone therapy in advanced myelofibrosis, 11 patients (4 females, 7 males) were given, 3--5 mg per kg body weight, long-term oxymetholone treatment in a prospective multicenter study. Five cases had previously had a diagnosis of polycythemia vera. All patients had anemia initially, 4 leukocytopenia and 10 thrombocytopenia in addition. Hepato-splenomegaly was present in all cases but in varying degree. Five patients required regular blood transfusions before treatment. In 9 of the 15 courses given, there was normalization of the peripheral blood or substantial improvement (better than 3 g hemoglobin/dl or 50 X 10(9) platelets/1) after androgens. Significant effects were noted both on hemoglobin values and platelet counts. The need for blood transfusions ceased completely in all 5 cases. When oxymetholone treatment was reduced or interrupted 4 patients relapsed; 2 of them responded to a renewed course. The red cell counts returned to previous polycythemic values in one patient and another died from acute leukemia. The results of this study suggest that androgens might be of value in advanced cases of myelofibrosis with transfusion-requiring anemia or severe thrombocytopenia.  相似文献

A 32-year-old female with alcoholic cirrhosis attempted to drown herself in a pond. She remained in a coma for 57 days. After a stormy course she developed multiple brain abscesses due to Scedosporium (Monosporium) apiospermum. Despite intravenous and intrathecal amphotericin B (total dose 870 mg) the patient died 71 days after the near drowning.  相似文献

Normal glucose regulation is achieved by having adequate insulin secretion and effective glucose uptake/disposal. Excess lipids in peripheral tissues — skeletal muscle, liver and adipose tissue — may attenuate insulin signaling through the protein kinase B (AKt) pathway and up-regulate protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B), a negative regulator of insulin signaling. We studied accumulation of lipid metabolites [triglycerides (TAGs), diglycerides (DAGs)] and ceramides in relation to insulin signaling and expression and phosphorylation of PTP1B by preincubating rat skeletal muscle cells (L6 myotubes) with three saturated and three unsaturated free fatty acids (FFAs) (200 μM). Cells were also evaluated in the presence of wortmannin, an inhibitor of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinases and thus AKt (0–100 nM). Unsaturated FFAs increased DAGs, TAGs and PTP1B expression significantly, but cells remained insulin sensitive as assessed by robust AKt and PTP1B phosphorylation at serine (Ser) 50, Ser 398 and tyrosine 152. Saturated palmitic and stearic acids increased ceramides, up-regulated PTP1B, and had AKt and PTP1B phosphorylation at Ser 50 impaired. We show a significant correlation between phosphorylation levels of AKt and of PTP1B at Ser 50 (R2=0.84, P<.05). The same was observed with increasing wortmannin dose (R2=0.73, P<.05). Only FFAs that increased ceramides caused impairment of AKt and PTP1B phosphorylation at Ser 50. PTP1B overexpression in the presence of excess lipids may not directly cause insulin resistance unless it is accompanied by decreased PTP1B phosphorylation. A clear relationship between PTP1B phosphorylation levels at Ser 50 and its negative effect on insulin signaling is shown.  相似文献

We report the first treatment of metastatic breast cancer by systemic radioimmunotherapy. The serial therapy doses were chosen based on quantitative imaging data in a treatment planning approach. A terminally ill patient with aggressive, locally advanced breast cancer who had failed radiation treatment and chemotherapy was injected intravenously with radiolabeled I-131 chimeric L6, a human-mouse chimeric lgG1 monoclonal antibody to adenocarcinoma. Initially, an imaging 10 mCi dose of I-131 chimeric L6 (dose 1) deposited 8.8% of the injected dose in her chest wall tumor at 48 hours. Ten days later the patient was given a 150 mCi I-131 chimeric L6 dose (dose 2) followed three weeks later by a 100 mCi dose (dose 3). Tumor uptake and retention were comparable for doses 1 and 2, and decreased for dose 3. Following dose 3 the patient developed a manageable thrombocytopenia and transient Grade IV granulocytopenia. The tumor was observed to decrease in size with peak tumor regression occurring two weeks after dose 3. This partial response (PR) was achieved by radioimmunotherapy at a time when conventional therapy had been unable to impact the growth of the patient's massive and aggressive tumor.  相似文献

The homocytotropic antibody response to unrelated antigens of mice with acute or chronic infection with Trypanosoma cruzi was studied. The production of IgG1 and IgE antibodies was observed in animals immunized with ovalbumin. The levels of IgG1 and IgE antibody were determined by passive cutaneous anaphylaxis. There was a depression in both IgG1 and IgE when infection and immunization were simultaneous. This depression was more intense when the animals were immunized 3 days after infection. A depression of IgG1 but not of IgE was observed in the animals with chronic infection and in the animals infected during the course of the humoral antibody response (12 days after immunization). It is suggested that a loss of T-cell regulatory mechanism may explain these results.  相似文献

Epinecidin-1, an antimicrobial peptide which encodes 21 amino acids, was isolated from a marine grouper (Epinephelus coioides). In this study, we investigated its immunomodulatory functions in mice co-injected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In vivo results showed that the synthetic epinecidin-1 peptide induced significant secretion of immunoglobulin G1 (IgG1) in mice co-injected with P. aeruginosa. Moreover, after injection of 40, 100, 200, or 500 μg epinecidin-1/mouse, we detected IgM, IgG, IgG1, and IgG2a in mice treated for 1, 2, 3, 7, 14, 21, and 28 days. Results showed that there were no significant differences in IgM, IgG, or IgG2a between mice injected with epinecidin-1 alone. IgG1 increased to a peak at 24 h, 7 days, and 28 days after an epinecidin-1 (40 μg/mouse) injection. Injection of 500 μg epinecidin-1/mouse increased IgG1 to peaks at 2 and 3 days; injection of 100 μg epinecidin-1/mouse increased IgG1 to a peak at 21 days. This supports epinecidin-1 being able to activate the Th2 cell response (enhance IgG1 production) against P. aeruginosa infection. Treatment with different concentrations of epinecidin-1 in mice elevated plasma interleukin (IL)-10 to initial peaks at 24 and 48 h, and it showed a second peak at 16 days. In RAW264.7 cells, treatment with epinecidin-1 alone did not produce significant changes in tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α protein secretion at 1, 6, or 24h after treatment with 3.75, 7.5, or 15 μg/ml epinecidin-1 compared to the lipopolysaccharide group.  相似文献

BackgroundMost studies on immune response after coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination focused on serum IgG antibodies and cell-mediated immunity, discounting the role of anti-SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing IgA antibodies in preventing viral infection. This study was aimed to quantify serum IgG and IgA neutralizing antibodies after mRNA COVID-19 vaccination in baseline SARS-CoV-2 seronegative healthcare workers.MethodsThe study population consisted of 181 SARSCoV-2 seronegative healthcare workers (median age 42 years, 59.7% women), receiving two doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine BNT162b2 (Comirnaty). Serum samples were collected before receiving the first vaccine dose, 21 days (before the second vaccine dose) and 50 days afterwards. We then measured anti-spike trimeric IgG (Liaison XL, DiaSorin), anti-spike receptor binding domain (RBD) IgG (Access 2, Beckman Coulter) and anti-spike S1 subunit IgA (ELISA, Euroimmun). Results were presented as median and interquartile range (IQR).ResultsVaccine administration elicited all anti-SARS-CoV2 antibodies measured. Thirty days after the second vaccine dose, 100% positivization occurred for anti-spike trimeric IgG and anti-spike RBD IgG, whilst 1.7% subjects remained anti-spike S1 IgA negative. The overall increase of antibodies level ratio over baseline after the second vaccine dose was 576.1 (IQR, 360.7-867.8) for anti-spike trimeric IgG, 1426.0 (IQR, 742.0-2698.6) for anti-spike RBD IgG, and 20.2 (IQR, 12.5-32.1) for anti-spike S1 IgA. Significant inverse association was found between age and overall increase of anti-spike trimeric IgG (r=-0.24; p=0.001) and anti-spike S1 IgA (r=-0.16; p=0.028), but not with anti-spike RBD IgG (r=-0.05; p=0.497).ConclusionsmRNA COVID-19 vaccination elicits sustained serum levels of anti-spike trimeric IgG and anti-spike RBD IgG, while also modestly but significantly increasing those of anti-spike S1 IgA.  相似文献

Stimulation of healing of chronic wounds by epidermal growth factor.   总被引:11,自引:0,他引:11  
We evaluated the effect of topical epidermal growth factor treatment on healing of chronic wounds in a prospective, open-label, crossover trial. Five males and four females who ranged in age from 40 to 72 years (average 57 +/- 9 years) were enrolled. Four patients had adult-onset diabetes mellitus, two had rheumatoid arthritis, two had old burn scars, and one had a failed abdominal incision. The average duration of the ulcers prior to treatment with epidermal growth factor was 12 +/- 5 months (range 1 to 48 months). Following failure of the wounds to heal with conventional therapies, including debridement, skin graphs, and vascular reconstruction, wounds were treated twice daily with Silvadene alone for periods ranging from 3 weeks to 6 months. No evidence of healing was observed in any of the patients' wounds during Silvadene treatment, and patients were crossed over to twice a day treatment with Silvadene containing 10 micrograms epidermal growth factor per gram. Wounds of eight patients healed completely with epidermal growth factor-Silvadene treatment in an average of 34 +/- 26 days (mean +/- SD, range 12 to 92 days) and did not reoccur for periods ranging from 1 to 4 years. One patient failed therapy. These results suggest that topical treatment of chronic wounds with epidermal growth factor may stimulate healing.  相似文献

DNA damage in single peripheral blood (pb) and bone marrow (bm) cells was studied in dogs which were exposed to total body X-ray irradiation (TBI) with a lethal dose of 3.9 Gy. The changes in pb and bm cell numbers were measured within 9 days after TBI. Using the alkaline single-cell gel electrophoresis technique (‘comet’ assay). DNA strand breaks and alkali labile sites were assessed in single cells derived from the blood before TBI, 1 h and 4 h after TBI and on days 1, 3 and 9 after TBI. Bone marrow cells subjected to the assay were collected before and on days 1 and 9 after TBI. Cells expressing the strongest DNA damage were most frequent in the blood 1 h after TBI and in the bone marrow 1 day after exposure. Thereafter, a continuous reduction of DNA damage in individual cells was observed in the course of progressive leukopenia and granulocytopenia.  相似文献

We encountered a patient who developed silent thyroiditis during the course of Graves' disease. The diagnosis of silent thyroiditis was made on the basis of a low thyroidal 131I uptake, no response to the thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH) test, and subsequent hypothyroidism despite the presence of high titers of thyrotropin (TSH) receptor antibody (TRAb) and thyroid stimulating antibody (TSAb). The patient, in addition, had a discrepancy between serum TSH and thyroid hormone values. This was due to the presence of interfering substances that react to mouse IgG in the sera since serum TSH levels were decreased in a dose dependent manner by the addition of increasing amounts of mouse IgG to the sera. It should therefore be noted that silent thyroiditis can develop in patients with Graves' disease. Furthermore, clinicians should be aware that two-site immunoassay kits that use mouse monoclonal antibodies are subject to interference by some substances, possibly antibodies which react to mouse IgG.  相似文献

The effect of short-term maternal ethanol administration on the ethanol-induced suppression of fetal breathing movements, electrocortical (ECoG) activity, and electroocular (EOG) activity was determined in the near-term fetal sheep. Twelve conscious instrumented pregnant ewes (between 125 and 139 days of gestation; term, 147 days) received 1-h intravenous infusion of 1 g ethanol/kg total body weight daily for six days (n = 6) or an equivalent volume of normal saline daily for six days (n = 6). On the seventh day, the ethanol- and saline-pretreated animals were administered 1 g ethanol/kg total body weight. A further six ewes received 1-h intravenous infusion of 1 g ethanol/kg total body weight (n = 3) or an equivalent volume of normal saline (n = 3) daily for thirteen days with both groups receiving 1 g ethanol/kg total body weight on day fourteen. Fetal ECoG and EOG activities, and fetal breathing movements were monitored continuously over the post- operative and experimental periods. Saline infusion had no significant effect on the parameters studied. Fetal breathing movements were suppressed for 8 h after the first ethanol dose, and were not significantly suppressed after fourteen days of once-daily, maternal ethanol administration. Low-voltage ECoG and EOG activities were suppressed for 3 h after the first ethanol dose, and were not significantly suppressed after seven days of repeated ethanol administration. Maternal and fetal blood gases and acid-base balance were not significantly affected by maternal ethanol administration. These data demonstrate that short-term maternal administration of ethanol results in the development of tolerance to ethanol in the mature fetus.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: NY-ESO-1 is a cancer/testis antigen highly immunogenic in cancer patients. Cholesterol-bearing hydrophobized pullulan (CHP) is a nanoparticle-forming antigen-delivery vehicle and CHP complexed with NY-ESO-1 protein (CHP-NY-ESO-1) efficiently activates CD4 and CD8 T cells in vitro. AIM: In this study we report on a 50-year-old male melanoma patient with multiple skin and organ metastases (T4N3M1c) who was vaccinated with CHP-NY-ESO-1 at biweekly intervals and who had an unusual disease course. We characterized in this patient humoral and cellular immune responses, immune regulatory cells, and cytokine profiles in the peripheral blood and at local tumor sites. RESULTS: Ten days after the second CHP-NY-ESO-1 vaccination (day 25), blisters appeared on the skin at the metastatic lesions associated with inflammatory changes. A skin biopsy showed the presence of many NY-ESO-1-expressing apoptotic melanoma cells as determined by a terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate nick end labeling (TUNEL) test. However, the tumors continued to grow, and the patient died of pulmonary failure due to multiple metastases on day 48. Serum antibody responses were detected after the second CHP-NY-ESO-1 vaccination and antibody titer increased with subsequent vaccinations. Th1 dependent IgG1 was the predominant immunoglobulin subtype. Both, NY-ESO-1-specific CD4 and CD8 T cell responses were detected in PBMC by IFN-gamma secretion assays. After CHP-NY-ESO-1 vaccination a slight decrease in CD4(+)CD25(+)Foxp3(+) Tregs was observed in PBMC but significantly increased numbers of CD4(+)CD25(+)Foxp3(+) Tregs and CD68(+) immunoregulatory macrophages were detected at the local tumor sites. CD4(+)CD25(+)Foxp3(+) Tregs were also increased in the blister fluid. Cytokines in the serum suggested a polarization towards a Th1 pattern in the PBMC and those in the blister fluid suggested a Th2-type response at the tumor site. CONCLUSIONS: Our observations indicate induction of specific humoral and cellular immune responses against NY-ESO-1 after CHP-NY-ESO-1 vaccination in a melanoma patient. The concomitant appearance of regulatory T cells and of immune regulatory macrophages and cytokines at the local tumor sites in this patient may explain immune escape.  相似文献

Protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) is a non-transmembrane protein tyrosine phosphatase that has been implicated in cancer pathogenesis. However, the expression level and the role of PTP1B in the development and prognosis of colorectal cancer (CRC) remain unclear. In this study, the expression of PTP1B in CRC tissues and matched noncancerous tissues were detected by using immunohistochemistry, real-time PCR and Western blotting. The correlations between PTP1B expression level and clinicopathologic characteristics and patient survival were analyzed. We found that PTP1B expression was significantly higher in CRC tissues compared with matched non-tumour tissues. Statistical analysis showed that the PTP1B expression was correlated with tumor differentiation, tumor invasion, lymph node metastasis, and TNM stage. Patients with higher expressions of PTP1B had the lower survival (P = 0.012). Taken together, our results suggest that PTP1B expression might play a critical role in the progression of CRC and may serve as a valuable prognostic biomarker for CRC.  相似文献

ObjectiveTo determine the best surgical strategy for patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2A (MEN 2A) who have primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT).MethodsWe performed a systematic literature review and conducted a retrospective cohort study that included patients with PHPT identified from the MEN 2A database at the University Medical Center of Utrecht, Utrecht, the Netherlands, between 1979 and 2009.ResultsThe review describes the course of worldwide parathyroid surgical management in MEN 2A PHPT over the past 75 years, which has evolved from aggressive parathyroid resections to minimally invasive parathyroidectomy (MIP). The study cohort included 20 patients. Primary surgery for parathyroid disease in patients with MEN 2A (n = 16) included MIP (n = 6), conventional neck exploration with resection of enlarged parathyroid gland(s) (n = 4), and resection of 1 or more enlarged gland(s) during total thyroidectomy (n = 6). Thirteen patients were initially cured after the primary operation. Five patients experi enced persistent or recurrent PHPT. After MIP, 1 patient had persistent PHPT, but no patient developed recurrent PHPT during 5 years of follow-up. Five patients had hypoparathyroidism after subtotal or total parathyroidectomy with autotransplantation, but only 1 patient had transient hypoparathyroidism after MIP. One patient had transient recurrent laryngeal nerve injury after MIP.ConclusionsSurgery for PHPT in patients with MEN 2A has evolved from aggressive conventional exploration of all 4 glands to focused MIP, which appears to be a feasible approach.
