The kinematics of the hand and fingers were studied during various keystrokes in typing. These movements were defined by 17 degrees of freedom of motion, and methods were developed to identify simplifying strategies inthe execution of the task. Most of the analysis was restrictedto the 11 degrees of freedom of the fingers, neglecting thumband wrist motion. Temporal characteristics of the motion weredefined by computing principal components, and it was found thatonly a few (two to four) principal components were needed tocharacterize motion of each of the degrees of freedom.Hierarchical relationships among patterns within and betweendifferent degrees of freedom were identified using clusteranalysis. There was a considerable amount of consistency eachtime a given keystroke was executed by a subject, and thisrepeatability may imply a reduction in the number of degrees offreedom independently controlled by the nervous system. However,there also appears to be considerable flexibility in thecoordination of the many joints of the hand when examined acrossdifferent keys and across different subjects.  相似文献

The study of hand and finger movement is an important topic with applications in prosthetics, rehabilitation, and ergonomics. Surface electromyography (sEMG) is the gold standard for the analysis of muscle activation. Previous studies investigated the optimal electrode number and positioning on the forearm to obtain information representative of muscle activation and robust to movements. However, the sEMG spatial distribution on the forearm during hand and finger movements and its changes due to different hand positions has never been quantified. The aim of this work is to quantify 1) the spatial localization of surface EMG activity of distinct forearm muscles during dynamic free movements of wrist and single fingers and 2) the effect of hand position on sEMG activity distribution. The subjects performed cyclic dynamic tasks involving the wrist and the fingers. The wrist tasks and the hand opening/closing task were performed with the hand in prone and neutral positions. A sensorized glove was used for kinematics recording. sEMG signals were acquired from the forearm muscles using a grid of 112 electrodes integrated into a stretchable textile sleeve. The areas of sEMG activity have been identified by a segmentation technique after a data dimensionality reduction step based on Non Negative Matrix Factorization applied to the EMG envelopes. The results show that 1) it is possible to identify distinct areas of sEMG activity on the forearm for different fingers; 2) hand position influences sEMG activity level and spatial distribution. This work gives new quantitative information about sEMG activity distribution on the forearm in healthy subjects and provides a basis for future works on the identification of optimal electrode configuration for sEMG based control of prostheses, exoskeletons, or orthoses. An example of use of this information for the optimization of the detection system for the estimation of joint kinematics from sEMG is reported.  相似文献

Dynamic recurrent neural networks were derived to simulate neuronal populations generating bidirectional wrist movements in the monkey. The models incorporate anatomical connections of cortical and rubral neurons, muscle afferents, segmental interneurons and motoneurons; they also incorporate the response profiles of four populations of neurons observed in behaving monkeys. The networks were derived by gradient descent algorithms to generate the eight characteristic patterns of motor unit activations observed during alternating flexion-extension wrist movements. The resulting model generated the appropriate input-output transforms and developed connection strengths resembling those in physiological pathways. We found that this network could be further trained to simulate additional tasks, such as experimentally observed reflex responses to limb perturbations that stretched or shortened the active muscles, and scaling of response amplitudes in proportion to inputs. In the final comprehensive network, motor units are driven by the combined activity of cortical, rubral, spinal and afferent units during step tracking and perturbations.The model displayed many emergent properties corresponding to physiological characteristics. The resulting neural network provides a working model of premotoneuronal circuitry and elucidates the neural mechanisms controlling motoneuron activity. It also predicts several features to be experimentally tested, for example the consequences of eliminating inhibitory connections in cortex and red nucleus. It also reveals that co-contraction can be achieved by simultaneous activation of the flexor and extensor circuits without invoking features specific to co-contraction.  相似文献

The fingers in the adult human hand differ in length and in distal extent. The literature agrees that in the clear majority of males, the distal extent of the ring finger tends to be relatively greater (using the middle finger as standard) than the index finger. However, the results for females vary considerably, with some studies reporting that females show a similar pattern to that of males, while others suggest that the prevalence of a longer index finger is relatively or absolutely more common in females. We provide a review of the literature, and a set of data for both finger length and distal fingertip extent of the finger for a contemporary cohort of young adult females and males (n = 502). Finger length measures favor the ring finger of both sexes, with smaller between-finger differences for females than for males. However, while the distal fingertip extent favors the ring finger of both hands in males, in females the left hand shows no significant differences, and the right hand shows a small index finger advantage. Thus, the sexual dimorphism in finger measures is more strongly expressed in the distal extent of fingertips than in the length of fingers. The sex differences in distal fingertip extent derive from the index finger only, with a lesser distal extent of the index finger, relative to the middle finger, in males than in females.  相似文献

ABSTRACT Population reduction (PR) and trap-vaccinate-release (TVR) were used to control an outbreak of the raccoon (Procyon lotor) variant of rabies in Ontario, Canada, during 1999. Raccoon density declined significantly following PR; however, density increased significantly 9–10 months post-PR. Recolonization of PR areas with raccoons marked in TVR areas was very low with only 1.8% (32/1,759) of those raccoons dispersing into PR areas during 1999–2000. In addition, the number of raccoons dispersing from TVR areas into PR areas was not significantly greater than the number of raccoons dispersing into treatment areas where population reduction had not been implemented during 1999–2000. Raccoon movements in this study, determined by mark-recapture, averaged < 4.0 km during 1999–2000 and did not differ among treatments (with or without PR). In summary, there was not a mass exodus of raccoons from TVR areas to PR areas during 1999–2000, suggesting there was not an immediate, dramatic, vacuum effect drawing raccoons into areas devoid of raccoons due to PR. However, one year post-PR, raccoon populations were near or above pre-PR densities (due to a high reproductive rate of resident raccoons), suggesting that PR would have to be an annual event if rabies is not eliminated from an area.  相似文献

锌是植物必需的营养元素,锌指蛋白因其具有指状结构特征且能结合Zn2 而得名,植物锌指蛋白包含特有的QALGGH保守结构,可能涉及调控植物特有的生物学功能。人们已经从拟南芥(Arabidopsis thaliana)、矮牵牛(Petunia hybrida Vilm)、水稻(Oryza sativa)、大豆(Glycine max)、棉花(Gossypium hirsutum)等植物中克隆了许多编码锌指蛋白的基因,并对其结构及功能进行了研究。利用转基因技术,将一些与逆境胁迫相关的锌指蛋白基因在目标植物中过量表达后,能对植物起到增强抗逆性的作用,说明锌指蛋白在增强植物逆境抗性方面有着广阔的应用前景。  相似文献

摘要 目的:探讨食管癌组织环指蛋白2(RNF2)、环指蛋白6(RNF6)的表达与上皮-间质转化(EMT)和预后的关系。方法:选择广东医科大学附属医院2017年2月至2020年2月收治的162例食管癌患者,取手术切除的癌组织和癌旁组织。采用免疫组化法检测RNF2、RNF6以及EMT标志蛋白[上皮钙黏附素(E-cadherin)、神经型钙黏蛋白(N-cadherin)Slug 和Snail]表达。Spearman相关性分析RNF2、RNF6与EMT标志蛋白的关系;分析食管癌组织RNF2、RNF6表达在不同临床病理特征中的差异;Kaplan-Meier生存曲线分析RNF2、RNF6表达与食管癌患者预后的关系;多因素Cox回归分析影响食管癌患者预后的因素。结果:食管癌组织RNF2、RNF6、N-cadherin、Slug和Snail蛋白阳性表达率高于癌旁组织,E-cadherin蛋白阳性表达率低于癌旁组织(P<0.05)。食管癌组织RNF2、RNF6蛋白阳性表达率与N-cadherin、Slug和Snail蛋白阳性表达率呈正相关,与E-cadherin蛋白阳性表达率呈负相关(P<0.05);低度分化、TNM分IIIA期、肿瘤直径≥2 cm、淋巴结转移在食管癌组织中RNF2、RNF6蛋白阳性表达率高于无淋巴结转移、肿瘤直径<2 cm,中高度分化、TNM分期I~II期食管癌组织(P<0.05);RNF2阳性表达患者3年OS率为47.17%,低于RNF2阴性表达患者的59.26% (P<0.05),RNF6阳性表达患者3年OS率为47.06%,低于RNF6阴性表达患者的63.41%(P<0.05);多因素Cox回归分析显示TNM分期ⅢA期、淋巴结转移、RNF2阳性表达、RNF6阳性表达是食管癌患者预后的危险因素(P<0.05)。结论:食管癌组织中RNF2、RNF6阳性表达率增加,且与肿瘤直径、分化程度、TNM分期、淋巴结转移以及低生存率有关,RNF2、RNF6可能通过EMT参与食管癌恶性进展过程。  相似文献

C2H2锌指是真核细胞中最常见的DNA结合模体。由于C2H2锌指域靶位点特异性与结构和功能的模块性构成,使得C2H2锌指域成为构建特定的DNA结合蛋白的常用骨架。保持C2H2锌指的基本骨架不变,替换锌指特定位点的氨基酸残基,并融合表达其他功能域就可以得到具有靶向性的人造锌指蛋白(ZFP)。ZFP可以介导靶基因的转录调控,抑制或激活特定基因的表达与配体依赖的靶基因激活或抑制;对DNA进行修饰,如人造限制性内切酶,重组酶,整合酶;抗病毒感染等。因此,人造锌指蛋白应用前景广阔,研究价值显著,是未来人类基因治疗的革命性的工具。  相似文献

We explore a computationally efficient method of simulating realistic networks of neurons introduced by Knight, Manin, and Sirovich (1996) in which integrate-and-fire neurons are grouped into large populations of similar neurons. For each population, we form a probability density that represents the distribution of neurons over all possible states. The populations are coupled via stochastic synapses in which the conductance of a neuron is modulated according to the firing rates of its presynaptic populations. The evolution equation for each of these probability densities is a partial differential-integral equation, which we solve numerically. Results obtained for several example networks are tested against conventional computations for groups of individual neurons.We apply this approach to modeling orientation tuning in the visual cortex. Our population density model is based on the recurrent feedback model of a hypercolumn in cat visual cortex of Somers et al. (1995). We simulate the response to oriented flashed bars. As in the Somers model, a weak orientation bias provided by feed-forward lateral geniculate input is transformed by intracortical circuitry into sharper orientation tuning that is independent of stimulus contrast.The population density approach appears to be a viable method for simulating large neural networks. Its computational efficiency overcomes some of the restrictions imposed by computation time in individual neuron simulations, allowing one to build more complex networks and to explore parameter space more easily. The method produces smooth rate functions with one pass of the stimulus and does not require signal averaging. At the same time, this model captures the dynamics of single-neuron activity that are missed in simple firing-rate models.  相似文献

Abstract

Ferrets at Pukepuke Lagoon were live-trapped during the periods November 1970 to August 1973 and January 1976 to July 1977. Although the sex ratio of the 75 trapped ferrets was equal, there was a strong bias towards male captures in the earlier period (58.4%) and towards female captures in the later period (68.7%). Habitat modification and changes in the trapping programme for the later period probably resulted in the increased abundance and capture rate of females. Between consecutive captures 58.2% of male movements exceeded 250 m, as against on1y 39.7% of female movements; the mean distance between consecutive captures was 435 m for males and 285 m for females. Mean monthly movements varied from 700 m in January to 315 m in June for males, and from 360 m in March to 150 m in September for females. Juveniles of both sexes moved similar, intermediate distances. Dispersing juveniles were trapped from January until April; males tended to appear in traps earlier in the year than females. Only 4 of 14 juvenile males setNed as residents, hut 15 of 28 juvenile females did so. Male and female home ranges overlapped extensively, but within each sex individual ranges were usually separate. Resident males maintained a well defined spacing pattern, adjusting their boundaries if a juvenile settled or a neighbouring range became vacant. In 1976 six females had overlapping ranges in an area of albundant food. Female ranges (12.4 ha) were on average smaller than male ranges (31.3 ha); home ranges of both sexes were smaller during the breeding season (August-February) than at other times.  相似文献

To achieve favorable Frictional Tactile Sensation (FTS) for robot and humanoid fingers, this report investigated the effects of human finger sweat on Friction Coefficient (FC) and verified the effectiveness of artificial sweat on FTS tbr a humanoid finger. The results show that the model sweat (salt and urea water faked real sweat) increases the FC of the real finger sliding on the high hygroscopic and rough surface (paper), whereas on the low hygroscopic and smooth surface (PMMA), the sweat forms a fluid film and decreases FC, restricting severe finger adhesion. Further, the film formation and capillary adhesion force of sweat were discussed. The experimental results with the artificial sweats (ethanol and water) and humanoid finger (silicone rubber skin with tactile sensors) verifies the effectiveness. The artificial sweat restricts severe adhesion (stick-slip vibration), and enhances cognitive capability of FTS.  相似文献

锌指蛋白是一类具有手指状结构域的转录因子,对基因调控起重要的作用。根据其保守结构域的不同,可将锌指蛋白主要分为C2H2型、C4型和C6型。锌指通过与靶分子DNA、RNA、DNA-RNA的序列特异性结合,以及与自身或其他锌指蛋白的结合,在转录和翻译水平上调控基因的表达。我们简要综述了近年来锌指蛋白结构、分类及其与核酸及蛋白质相互作用等方面的研究进展。  相似文献

Researchers studying neural coding have speculated that populations of neurons would more effectively represent the stimulus if the neurons "cooperated:" by interacting through lateral connections, the neurons would process and represent information better than if they functioned independently. We apply our new theory of information processing to determine the fidelity limits of simple population structures to encode stimulus features. We focus on noncooperative populations, which have no lateral connections. We show that they always exhibit positively correlated responses and that as population size increases, they perfectly represent the information conveyed by their inputs regardless of the individual neuron's coding scheme. Cooperative populations, which do have lateral connections, can, depending on the nature of the connections, perform better or worse than their noncooperative counterparts. We further show that common notions of synergy fail to capture the level of cooperation and to reflect the information processing properties of populations.  相似文献

旨在原核表达Pokemon基因的锌指结构域,纯化获得GST-Zinc finger的融合蛋白。以人胶质瘤T98G细胞的c DNA为模板,利用PCR扩增带有Bam H I和Sal I酶切位点的人Pokemon基因的锌指结构域,然后将其克隆到p GEX-4T-1原核表达载体中。将正确的重组载体转入大肠杆菌BL21(DE3),用IPTG诱导表达,再利用Magne GST particles亲和纯化Zinc finger融合蛋白,最后通过Western blot鉴定此融合蛋白。结果显示,成功构建p GEX-4T-1-Zinc finger原核表达载体;30℃条件下,0.2 mmol/L的IPTG能诱导出大量的可溶性GST-Zinc finger蛋白;经Magne GST particles纯化的GST-Zinc finger蛋白可被识别Pokemon锌指结构域的抗体特异识别。纯化的GST-Zinc finger蛋白可用于后续的生物学研究。  相似文献
