Jasmonic acid (JA)-related compounds were synthesized, and their inhibitory activities on rice seedling growth were investigated. Three functions (C-1 CH2COOH or CH2COOCH3, C-2 (Z)-2′-pentenyl or n-pentyl and C-3 ketone or hydroxyl) were essential for exhibiting inhibitory activity in this series of compounds. A dihydro-JA-related compound, 4-acetyl-nonanoic acid, also showed inhibitory activity similar to JA.  相似文献

Antonovka seedlings were obtained from the embryos soaked in abscisic acid (ABA) alone, gibberellin A4+7, benzyladenine or the mixtures of these regulators. The inhibitory effect of ABA on the growth of the seedlings was of temporary duration. The height of the 12 week-old seedlings was dependent only on the degree of seed after-ripening and not on the ABA treatment. The growth stimulators studied were unable to overcome the inhibitory effect of ABA observed in the early stages of seedling growth. The growth stimulators did not substitute, for cold treatment of apple seeds which is the only treatment so far known to overcome the dwarf conditions of the seedlings obtained from non-after-ripened embryos. ABA greatly suppressed the early stages of apple seedling growth (up to 6 weeks) during which they resembled physiological dwarfs. The highest concentrations of ABA (2·0 μg ml?1) greatly modified the root system of the seedlings, and produced a larger percentage of seedlings with unbranched roots.  相似文献

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the mechanism of DA-6 in alleviating the salinity inhibition of Cassia obtusifolia L. seeds and seedlings. NaCl (100 mM) was used to mimic salinity stress in a series of experiments. Varying combinations of DA-6 were added to seeds and seedlings under salinity stress. Seed germination indices and seedling parameters were investigated. Seed germination and seedling growth were significantly inhibited under salinity stress. NaCl-induced inhibitory effects on seed germination and seedling growth were ameliorated by DA-6 with different concentrations. Addition of DA-6 to seeds (50 µM) and seedlings (100 µM) significantly alleviated damage to the plant cells under salinity stress. DA-6 (regardless of the presence or absence of NaCl) enhanced chlorophyll concentration, total soluble sugars, free proline, and soluble protein, and improved photosystem II (PSII) photochemical efficiency levels (F v/F m), PSII actual photochemical efficiency (ΦPSII), and the photochemical quench coefficient. In contrast, the initial fluorescence (F o) and the non-photochemical quenching coefficient decreased. Application of DA-6 also enhanced the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD; EC 1.15.1.1), peroxidase (POD; EC 1.11.1.7), catalase (CAT; EC 1.11.1.6), ascorbate peroxidase (APX; EC 1.11.1.11), and glutathione reductase (GR; EC 1.6.4.2), thus alleviating oxidative damage, as indicated by decreases in thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances, hydrogen peroxide concentration (H2O2), relative conductivity, and lipoxygenase activity (LOX; EC 1.13.11.12). Based on the experimental results, we conclude that DA-6 induces advantageous effects on the attenuation of salt-stress inhibition of C. obtusifolia seeds and seedlings and alleviates oxidative damage by conferring beneficial cytoprotection and activating antioxidant enzymes. DA-6 can be used as an effective plant growth regulator to alleviate salinity stress.  相似文献

The inhibitory effect of nickel on the growth of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) seedlings and the alleviation of nickel toxicity by nitric oxide (NO) were investigated. Nickel (Ni) at 100 μM caused striking reduction in seedling growth and significant overproduction of MDA and H2O2 in the roots. Supplementation with NO donor sodium nitroprusside (SNP) could significantly reverse the inhibitory effect of nickel in a dose-dependent manner. K3Fe(CN)6, a SNP analogue, which does not release NO, had no ameliorative effect on Ni toxicity in wheat.. In addition, application of 2-(4-carboxyphenyl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl-3-oxide (cPTIO), a NO scavenger, could dramatically counteract the stimulatory effects of SNP on the growth of wheat seedling roots under Ni stress, confirming that NO rather than other compounds derived from SNP was responsible for the alleviating effect of Ni toxicity. Further results showed that SNP enhanced the activities of guaiacol peroxidase (POD, EC 1.11.1.7), ascorbate peroxidase (APX, EC 1.11.1.11), superoxide dismutase (SOD, EC 1..1..5.1..1), glutathione reductase (GR, EC 1.6.4.2), and glutathione S-transferase (GST, EC 2.5.1.18) in wheat seedling roots under nickel stress, while no significant difference in the activity of catalase (CAT, EC 1.11.1.6) in wheat roots supplemented with SNP or without it was observed. These results clearly indicate that NO has a protective role in Ni-induced oxidative damage through modulation of antioxidant enzymes.  相似文献

不同类型污泥及其堆肥对通菜、菜心种子发芽和幼苗生长影响的研究表明 ,深圳生污泥、佛山生污泥和广州生污泥及其堆肥对通菜种子的发芽率有明显的影响 ,前者仅为73% ,其余的在 85%左右 ,均低于对照处理 ( 93% ) .而它们对菜心种子的发芽率 ,除了深圳生污泥有抑制作用外 ( 75% ) ,其余均表现为促进作用 ( 90 % ) ,均高于对照处理 ( 85% ) .它们对于两种作物幼苗的生长则均表现为不同程度的抑制作用甚至是损害作用 .污泥及其堆肥中抑制作物种子发芽和幼苗生长的物质主要是有机酸和醛类等有机物 .生污泥经过消化作用或适当的堆沤作用可降解这些有机物 ,从而减弱或消除这种抑制作用 .因此 ,生污泥经过消化作用或适当的堆沤作用后用于农业生产更为安全 .但对刚施用污泥或污泥堆肥的耕地最好不要直接播种 .  相似文献

Observations have been made on the effect of synthetic, (±)-abscisin II (dormin), alone and in combination with gibberellin, kinetin and indoleacetic acid, on seed germination and seedling growth of two strains of lettuce, cv. Attraktion and cv. Hohlblättriger Butter. (±)-Abscisin II inhibited seed germination and seedling growth in both strains. The inhibitory effect of abscisin II on seed germination as well as seedling growth was completely overcome by kinetin in both dark and light. Gibberellic acid, on the other hand, proved ineffective in exerting its influence on seed germination in presence of abscisin II but affected subsequent seedling growth as usual. Indoleacetic acid was found to be least potent in reversing abscisin II caused inhibition of seed germination and seedling growtb. It is concluded, that like its effect on certain other naturally occurring inhibitors of seed germination, kinetin can effectively undo the inhibitory effects of abscisin II in these growth processes.  相似文献

Some effects of methyl jasmonate (Me-Ja) on sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) seed germination and seedling development are described and compared with those of ABA. Both growth regulators have very similar action. They inhibit germination, but high concentrations of O2 in the atmosphere suppress this inhibitory action. Depending on the concentration, Me-Ja inhibits root and hypcotyl growth, however the root is more sensitive to Me-Ja than to ABA. Me-Ja also strongly reduces oxygen uptake during germination and inhibits chlorophyll biosynthesis in isolated cotyledons.  相似文献

Growth of carrot and radish seedlings in nutrient culture was inhibited by pretreatment with three calmodulin inhibitors. There was little selective effect on specific organs, shoots, tap root and fibrous roots over a range of concentrations. Although pretreatment with CaCl2 (0.5 mM) did not affect growth of untreated seedlings, it partially reduced the inhibitory effects of trifluoperazine over the concentration range 0.01–0.05 mM. Summary The modifying effect of calcium (Ca) on the salinity tolerance of Wimmera ryegrass during germination and early seedling growth was studied. Pretreatment of seeds with Ca has no significant effect on germination under NaCl or MgCl2 salinity. The addition of Ca to the germination medium increased the germination percentage significantly, especially with MgCl2. Significant increases in seedling shoot and root growth also occurred with Ca addition to the growth medium under MgCl2 salinity.  相似文献

2‐Benzoxazolinone (BOA), a type of hydroxamic acid present in cereals and implicated in allelopathy, is now being viewed as a potential candidate for the development of natural herbicides. A study was conducted to determine the effect of BOA on mung bean (Phaseolus aureus) through a multitude of bioassays to understand its physiological and biochemical action. It was observed that BOA significantly decreased the germination of mung bean and its early growth (measured in terms of seedling length and dry weight). A typical dose–response relationship was observed with BOA treatment, and I50 values (concentrations at which 50% inhibition occurs) for germination, seedling length and seedling dry weight were calculated to be 4.3, 0.71 and 0.77 mM , respectively. There was therefore a greater inhibitory effect on seedling growth than on germination. Treated seedlings were characterised by a loss of chlorophyll and decreased respiratory activity, indicating a possible adverse effect of BOA on photosynthetic and respiratory metabolism. Mitotic activity in root‐tip cells of onion (Allium cepa) was completely arrested in response to BOA treatment, and the cells exhibited abnormality in shape and size. BOA also adversely affected rhizogenesis in hypocotyl cuttings of mung bean, indicating an impact on morphogenetic potential. It was associated with significant changes in the protein content and activities of proteases and polyphenol oxidases during the root development phase. This study concludes that BOA interfered with essential biochemical processes in mung bean. Such studies provide useful information on the biochemical and physiological modes of actions of BOA, with a view to its use as a herbicidal compound.  相似文献

Effects of camptothecin, a naturally occurring alkaloid, on seed germination varied from promotive to inhibitory, depending on the species used. It markedly inhibited seedling root growth but its inhibition of hypocotyl growth varied among species. Camptothecin inhibited GA3-induced dark germination of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) seeds and hypocotyl elongation of seedlings. In contrast to ABA, the camptothecin inhibition of GA3-induced germination could not be overcome by cytokinin. When seeds were germinated at 29C with a 0.5 h light treatment, little or no germination occurred in the camptothecin treatment, but addition of cytokinin overcame this inhibition.  相似文献

Phytocystatins are cysteine proteinase inhibitors in plants that are implicated in the endogenous regulation of protein turnover and defense mechanisms against insects and pathogens. A cDNA encoding a phytocystatin called AtCYS6 (Arabidopsis thaliana phytocystatin6) has been isolated. We show that AtCYS6 is highly expressed in dry seeds and seedlings and that it also accumulates in flowers. The persistence of AtCYS6 protein expression in seedlings was promoted by abscisic acid (ABA), a seed germination and post-germination inhibitory phytohormone. This finding was made in transgenic plants bearing an AtCYS6 promoter–β-glucuronidase (GUS) reporter construct, where we found that expression from the AtCYS6 promoter persisted after ABA treatment but was reduced under control conditions and by gibberellin4+7 (GA4+7) treatment during the germination and post-germinative periods. In addition, constitutive over-expression of AtCYS6 retarded germination and seedling growth, whereas these were enhanced in an AtCYS6 knock-out mutant (cys6-2). Additionally, cysteine proteinase activities stored in seeds were inhibited by AtCYS6 in transgenic Arabidopsis. From these data, we propose that AtCYS6 expression is enhanced by the germination inhibitory phytohormone ABA and that it participates in the control of germination rate and seedling growth by inhibiting the activity of stored cysteine proteinases.  相似文献

研究不同浓度的蜜环菌Armillariamellea发酵液对油菜籽萌发、幼苗生长的影响。结果表明,发酵液在油菜籽萌发过程中对种子的发芽势影响显著,对最终种子发芽率影响不大;发酵液具有促进幼苗伸长,抑制根生长的作用;随着发酵液浓度的升高,幼苗的成活率呈下降趋势;发酵液对幼苗生产量的影响表现为低促高抑,低浓度促进生产量的增加,高浓度下幼苗的生产量随着浓度的升高而降低。通过对蜜环菌化感作用的检测,蜜环菌发酵液在油菜籽的发芽势、苗伸长、根生长及幼苗生产量等方面均具有化感作用。  相似文献

The effects of continuous red and far-red light and of brief light pulses on the growth kinetics of the mesocotyl, coleoptile, and primary leaf of intact oat (Avena sativa L.) seedlings were investigated. Mesocotyl lengthening is strongly inhibited, even by very small amounts of Pfr, the far-red light absorbing form of phytochrome (e.g., by [Pfr]0.1% of total phytochrome, established by a 756-nm light pulse). Coleoptile growth is at first promoted by Pfr, but apparently inhibited later. This inhibition is correlated in time with the rupturing of the coleoptile tip by the primary leaf, the growth of which is also promoted by phytochrome. The growth responses of all three seedling organs are fully reversible by far-red light. The apparent lack of photoreversibility observed by some previous investigators of the mesocotyl inhibition can be explained by an extremely high sensitivity to Pfr. Experiments with different seedling parts failed to demonstrate any further obvious interorgan relationship in the light-mediated growth responses of the mesocotyl and coleoptile. The organspecific growth kinetics, don't appear to be influenced by Pfr destruction. Following an irradiation, the growth responses are quantitatively determined by the level of Pfr established at the onset of darkness rather than by the actual Pfr level present during the growth period.Abbreviation Pfr far-red light absorbing form of phytochrome  相似文献

The effect of Ca2+ level in the growth medium on the response of germination and early seedling growth of Phaseolus vulgaris to NaCl salinity was investigated. When NaCl concentration was increased germination and early seedling growth was decreased. The addition of Ca2+ to the media increased both germination percentage and seedling growth. Chloride concentrations were not affected by the level of Ca2+. Potassium and Ca2+ concentrations and transport from roots to shoots were decreased by NaCl, but were restored by increasing Ca2+ in the medium. The opposite was true for Na+. Leakage of NO3 - and H2PO4 - was increased by salinity and reduced by high Ca2+ in the medium. The results are discussed in terms of the beneficial effects of calcium for plant growth under saline conditions.  相似文献

Gibberellin A20 (GA20), GA29 and GA29-catabolite were quantified in cotyledons, embryonic axes, and testas of Pisum sativum cv. Progress No. 9 throughout the final stages of seed maturation and during germination. Stable isotope-labelled GAs were used as internal standards in conjunction with combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Gibberellin A20 and GA29 were mainly located in the cotyledons of maturing seeds, and GA29-catabolite was predominantly located in the testa. Stable isotope- and radio-labelled GA20 and GA29 were fed to both intact seeds developing in vivo, and to isolated seed parts cultured in vitro. The combined results of in-vivo and in-vitro feeds indicated that GA20 is metabolised to GA29 in the cotyledons, that GA29 is transported from the cotyledons to the testa, and that GA29 is metabolised to GA29-catabolite in the testa. Although the metabolism of GA20 in the cotyledons and of GA29 in the testa has been shown definitively, the mobility of GA29 has not yet been demonstrated directly. During seed desiccation and germination GA29-catabolite and products arising from it are transferred from the testa into the embryo. There is no evidence of a physiological function for GA29-catabolite in germination or early seedling growth. Use of a growth retardant indicates that seedling growth, but not germination, is dependent on de-novo GA biosynthesis.  相似文献

Peroxidase (POD) activity and isoform patterns were investigated during seedling growth (up to 20 days) of Ebenus cretica L. Seeds germinated to approx. 100% after a 24-h imbibition. Seedling growth proceeded smoothly, in both light and dark conditions. No seedling growth was noticed at 4°C. A positive effect of light and increasing temperature (4, 10, 16, 22 and 28°C) on seedlings growth, lignin content and POD activity was observed. Lignin content was 2.5 times higher in seedlings grown under light than in seedlings grown under darkness. Seedlingsȁ9 POD activity was higher in acid pH (5.5) in comparison to neutral pH (7.0). These activities were higher in seedlings grown under darkness than in those grown under light; since additional POD isoforms were expressed in dark conditions. The increase in POD activity was accompanied with the appearance of new POD isoforms correlated with the growth of the seedlings. Four soluble anionic POD isoforms (named A1, A2, A3 and A4) and three soluble cationic POD isoforms (named C1, C2 and C3) were displayed depending on the treatment and the course of growth. POD isoforms were detected in gel after PAGE. The fast migrating (A4) isoform, which appeared in the dark-grown seedlings as well as on day 20 at 28°C in the temperature treatment, was separated by DEAE–Sepharose column chromatography. A slow migrating C1 isoform slightly appeared in both 4 and 10°C temperature treatments and could be related to the low temperature treatments, while A1, A2, A3 and C2 to the growth stage of seedlings. The expression of seven POD isoforms during seedling growth seems to be related to different developmental events of growth and could be used as useful biochemical markers in the analysis of metabolic regulation in seedling growth of Ebenus cretica.  相似文献

以大白菜、萝卜、番茄和黄瓜种子为受体,采用实验室培养皿种子发芽生物测试法研究了黄瓜种子浸提液、种子萌发、胚根和芽苗分泌物、芽苗腐解物和芽苗浸提液的化感效应。结果表明:(1)黄瓜种子浸提液对大白菜、萝卜、番茄和黄瓜种子萌发均有化感抑制作用,即黄瓜种子内含有某些化感抑制物质。(2)在水浸提过的黄瓜种子萌发过程中,它不仅对其近邻套种的大白菜、萝卜和番茄种子萌发产生化感抑制作用,而且其胚根和芽苗分泌物对后茬播种的4种蔬菜种子发芽也表现出不同程度的化感抑制作用;黄瓜芽苗腐解物和芽苗水浸提液也对各受体蔬菜种子发芽与生长产生不同程度的化感抑制作用,且随着腐解芽苗量的增加或浸提液浓度的升高,各受体蔬菜种子的发芽指标值、化感效应指数值和综合效应值随之降低。(3)黄瓜种子浸提液及芽苗各器官的化感物质对黄瓜种子的萌发与生长产生了自毒作用,且黄瓜芽苗腐解物、芽苗浸提液、胚根及芽苗分泌物对受体黄瓜的自毒作用均为最大。研究发现,黄瓜种子浸提液、种子萌发时期以及芽苗各器官的化感物质主要是通过抑制受体胚根的生长而起化感抑制作用,即受体蔬菜种子胚根对化感效应最为敏感;因黄瓜种子及萌发期释放化感物质的途径有所不同,导致受体大白菜、萝卜、黄瓜和番茄的化感响应也不相同;在黄瓜种子萌发和芽苗生长的早期,化感物质即开始在芽苗体内进行合成与积累,一部分可通过胚根和芽苗分泌途径释放到环境中,另一部分可通过芽苗腐解途径释放化感物质,并对受体蔬菜种子萌发与生长表现出较强的化感抑制作用。  相似文献

随着鄂尔多斯煤矿开采的日益加剧,开采和运输过程中产生的煤粉尘沉降已成为影响当地植物生长的一个重要影响因子。通过近自然生境条件下的控制实验,以鄂尔多斯高原优势植物羊柴(Hedysarum laeve)为研究对象,探究不同梯度煤粉尘沉降量(0—3.5 mg/cm2)对其幼苗的光合生理特性和生长的影响。研究结果表明,随着煤粉尘沉降量的增加,羊柴叶片的气孔导度(Gs)、胞间二氧化碳浓度(Ci)、叶片水分饱和水汽压亏缺(Vpdl)等因子发生了不同程度的改变,导致净光合速率(Pn)和蒸腾速率(Tr)降低,使得幼苗的植株高度、叶片数、地上和地下生物量降低。因而,积累到一定程度的煤粉尘颗粒通过影响叶片气孔的水汽交换过程和降低叶片表面的光照强度,影响了叶片的光合生理过程,从而抑制了羊柴幼苗的生长。  相似文献

The role of gibberellins (GAs) during germination and early seedling growth is examined by following the metabolism and transport of radiolabeled GAs in cotyledon, shoot, and root tissues of pea (Pisum sativum L.) using an aseptic culture system. Mature pea seeds have significant endogenous GA20 levels that fall during germination and early seedling growth, a period when the seedling develops the capacity to transport GA20 from the cotyledon to the shoot and root of the seedling. Even though cotyledons at 0–2 days after imbibition have appreciable amounts of GA20, the cotyledons retain the ability to metabolize labeled GA19 to GA20 and express significant levels of PsGA20ox2 message (which encodes a GA biosynthesis enzyme, GA 20-oxidase). The large pool of cotyledonary GA20 likely provides substrate for GA1 synthesis in the cotyledons during germination, as well as for shoots and roots during early seedling growth. The shoots and roots express GA metabolism genes (PsGA3ox genes which encode GA 3-oxidases for synthesis of bioactive GA1, and PsGA2ox genes which encode GA 2-oxidases for deactivation of GAs to GA29 and GA8), and they develop the capacity to metabolize GAs as necessary for seedling establishment. Auxins also show an interesting pattern during early seedling growth, with higher levels of 4-chloro-indole-3-acetic acid (4-Cl-IAA) in mature seeds and higher levels of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) in young root and shoot tissues. This suggests a changing role for auxins during early seedling development.  相似文献
