Isoproterenol-induced thirst in rats has been attributed to the activation of beta-adrenergic receptors. Since these receptors can be further differentiated pharmacologically into beta1 and beta2 types, experiments were performed using several beta-adrenergic agonists and antagonists to determine the receptor type initiating the isoproterenol-induced thirst. The beta1- and beta2-adrenergic antagonist, d,l-propranolol (1 mg/kg, ip), blocked the increase in water intake usually accompanying acute subcutaneous administration of isoproterenol (25 microgram/kg) to female rats. Since l-propranolol is known to stabilize membranes and to possess anesthetic-like properties, d-propranolol was also used. This isomer has little beta-adrenergic-blocking activity but possesses anesthetic-like activity. Administration of d-propranolol (1 mg/kg, ip) failed to affect the drinking response to acute administration of isoproterenol (25 microgram/kg). Practolol (125 mg/kg), a beta1-adrenergic antagonist with little anesthetic properties, also had no effect on water intake of isoproterenol-treated rats. Butoxamine, a selective beta2-adrenergic antagonist, attenuated the drinking response to isoproterenol. Salbutamol (150 microgram/kg), a beta2-adrenergic agonist, mimicked the effect of isoproterenol on water intake. These results are consistent with the suggestion that beta2-adrenergic receptors mediate the isoproterenol-induced thirst in rats.  相似文献

Total food deprivation for 72 hrs (3 day fast) in female rats resulted in a reduction in serum thyroid hormones as well as a reduced peripheral beta-adrenergic responsiveness to isoproterenol. Food deprivation for 48 or 72 hrs significantly decreased both serum T3 and T4 values as compared to non-fasted controls. There were no significant differences in either T3 or T4 levels as a result of a 24 hr fast. Rats deprived of food for 72 hr had significantly smaller increases in oxygen consumption, colonic and tail skin temperatures following administration of isoproterenol (100 micrograms/kg b.w., s.c.) when compared to non-fasted control rats. Arterial blood pressure and heart rates were measured in unrestrained, unanesthetized, chronically cannulated rats. Food deprivation for 72 hrs significantly attenuated the decrease in blood pressure and the increase in heart rate associated with administration of isoproterenol (10 micrograms/kg b.w., s.c.). Possible mechanisms for the reduced beta-adrenergic responsiveness associated fasting are discussed.  相似文献

The amount of type I and type II cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase present in the rat heart was determined at various times during isoproterenol-induced cardiac hypertrophy. Wistar rats were injected twice daily with isoproterenol (5 mg/kg, s.c.) for 2, 5 or 10 days. Cardiac weight increased gradually over the 10-day period of drug administration, and by day 10, heart weight was 156% of control. Following the cessation of isoproterenol administration, the cardiac weight regressed toward the control value by day 15. An increase in the specific activity of type I protein kinase to 197% of control occurred by day 10. The specific activity of type II protein kinase did not change significantly during either the hypertrophy or regression stage. The increase in the specific activity of type I protein kinase during a chemically-induced trophic response of the heart may indicate that type I cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase plays a regulatory function in this process.  相似文献

Chronic administration of aminotriazole (0.5 g/kg food) to rats was accompanied by a reduced responsiveness to acute administration of the beta-adrenergic agonist, l-isoproterenol (50-100 mug/kg, sc). The responses tested included water intake, change in heart rate in the anesthetized and unanesthetized rat, change in mean blood pressure, and change in blood glucose concentration. In addition, the increase in tail skin temperature accompanying administration of epinephrine (1 mg/kg, sc) was significantly reduced in the hypothyroid group. Administration of l-thyroxine (25 mug/kg per day, ip) to aminotriazole-treated rats prevented the reduction in responsiveness to beta-adrenergic stimulation. Thus, an interaction appears to exist between the level of thyroid activity and responsiveness to beta-adrenergic agonists in rats.  相似文献

The cardioprotective potential of Inula racemosa root hydroalcoholic extract against isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction was investigated in rats. The rats treated with isoproterenol (85 mg/kg, s.c.) exhibited myocardial infarction, as evidenced by significant (P < 0.05) decrease in mean arterial pressure, heart rate, contractility, relaxation along with increased left ventricular end diastolic pressure, as well as decreased endogenous myocardial enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants. Isoproterenol also significantly (P < 0.05) induced lipid peroxidation and increased leakage of myocyte injury marker enzymes. Pretreatment with I. racemosa extract (50, 100 or 200 mg/kg per day, p.o.) for 21 consecutive days, followed by isoproterenol injections on days 19th and 20th significantly (P < 0.05) improved cardiac function by increasing the heart rate, mean arterial pressure, contractility and relaxation along with decreasing left ventricular end diastolic pressure. Pretreatment with I. racemosa also significantly (P < 0.05) restored the reduced form of glutathione and endogenous antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase from the heart, which were depleted after isoproterenol administration. In addition to restoration of antioxidants, I. racemosa significantly (P < 0.05) inhibited lipid peroxidation and prevented the leakage of myocytes specific marker enzymes creatine phosphokinase-MB and lactate dehydrogenase from the heart. Thus, it is concluded that I. racemosa protects heart from isoproterenol-induced myocardial injury by reducing oxidative stress and modulating hemodynamic and ventricular functions of the heart. Present study findings demonstrate the cardioprotective effect of I. racemosa and support the pharmacological relevance of its use and cardioprotection mechanism in ischemic heart disease as well as substantiate its traditional claim.  相似文献

The responses of tail skin and colonic temperatures of female rats to ambient temperatures of 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, and 30 degrees C were measured. Within this range, colonic temperature was stable while tail skin temperature increased linearly with increasing ambient temperature. Administration of the beta-adrenergic agonist, d,l-isoproterenol, at 10.0, 25.0, and 62.5 micrograms/kg, sc, at each ambient temperature was accompanied by increases in tail skin and colonic temperatures that were dependent on both the dose of isoproterenol administered and the ambient temperature. The integrated responses of tail skin temperature following administration of the three doses of isoproterenol were maximal at an ambient temperature of 26 degrees C while the integrated responses of colonic temperature were maximal at 30 degrees C. The results suggest that tests of beta-adrenergic responsiveness using this technique should be performed at an ambient temperature of 26 degrees C for maximal sensitivity.  相似文献

This study was designed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic effects of the alcoholic extract of the berries of Crataegus oxyacantha (AEC), a medicinal herb, on isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction (MI) in a rat model. Three groups of Wistar albino rats, each comprising six animals, were selected for this study. Group I rats served as control. Group II rats were given isoproterenol (85 mg/kg body weight) subcutaneously on 59th and 60th days. Group III rats were given AEC (0.5 ml/100 g body weight/day), orally on a daily basis for 60 days, and isoproterenol (85 mg/kg body weight, subcutaneously) was given on 59th and 60th days. On the 61st day, the animals were sacrificed, and marker enzymes like lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and creatine kinase (CK) were estimated in serum. In the heart tissue sample, antioxidant status, lipid peroxidation and anti-inflammatory properties of AEC were determined. Isoproterenol significantly increased the release of LDH, CK in serum, decreased the antioxidant status in the heart along with an increase in lipid peroxidation. Nitritive stress and apoptosis were seen in isoproterenol-induced rat heart. Pre-treatment with the AEC for 60 days had a significant effect on all the above factors and maintained near normal status. The study confirms the protective effect of AEC against isoproterenol-induced inflammation and apoptosis-associated MI in rats.  相似文献

We evaluated the tail-skin temperature response to administration of several doses of isoproterenol in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats after 48 h and after 4 weeks of diabetes. Blood glucose concentrations were significantly increased over controls 48 hours after administration of streptozotocin (65 mg/kg, i.v.) and remained elevated to a similar degree in the 4-week group. Basal rectal temperature and tail-skin temperature (TST) were not different between controls and the diabetic groups and were not affected by administration of saline. However, administration of isoproterenol (25 micrograms/kg, s.c.) caused a significant rise in TST in the control group, but not in the rats diabetic for 4 weeks. A similar but exaggerated response was observed in the controls after subcutaneous administration of 40 micrograms/kg and 100 micrograms/kg of isoproterenol. The TST response in the 4-week diabetic rats still remained negligible with the two higher doses of isoproterenol. When the data were summarized as area under the TST curve, a dose-dependent increase was observed in the control groups and a significant absence of response was observed in the 4-week group. The rats studied 48 h after streptozotocin injection had a similar TST response to the control group after administration of 40 micrograms/kg of isoproterenol. Colonic temperatures did not significantly change between the two groups in any of the studies, although the colonic temperatures tended to rise in the control groups following administration of isoproterenol. We conclude from this study that the absence of a tail-skin temperature response in rats diabetic for 4 weeks results from either a reduced beta-adrenergic receptor mediated response or an altered neural thermoregulatory reflex response, or both. These changes are probably not due to streptozotocin treatment or increases in blood glucose.  相似文献

To test the hypothesis that the high levels of endogenous catecholamines associated with strenuous exercise produce functional desensitization of cardiac beta-adrenergic receptors, we measured the bolus chronotropic dose of isoproterenol necessary to produce a 25-beats/min increase in heart rate (CD25) in the resting state and after the return of heart rate to resting levels after 60 min of treadmill running in 13 normal dogs. Immediately after exercise, 12 of 13 dogs were less sensitive to the chronotropic effects of beta-adrenergic receptor stimulation: mean CD25 increased from 1.16 +/- 0.17 to 3.50 +/- 0.98 micrograms (P less than 0.02). A similar reduction in isoproterenol sensitivity was evident regardless of whether testing was performed in the presence or absence of vagal blockade with atropine. By 3 h after exercise, CD25 had returned to the preexercise level, with no further change noted 24 h after exercise. There was no change in the CD25 when measured serially in three unexercised dogs. We conclude that a single bout of dynamic exercise is sufficient to produce a significantly decreased chronotropic responsiveness to isoproterenol. This phenomenon may represent an acute but transient desensitization of cardiac beta-adrenergic receptors.  相似文献

Sympathetic nervous activation is a crucial compensatory mechanism in heart failure. However, excess catecholamine may induce cardiac dysfunction and beta-adrenergic desensitization. Although magnesium is known to be a cardioprotective agent, its beneficial effects on acute cardiac dysfunction remain to be elucidated. We examined the effects of magnesium on left ventricular (LV) dysfunction induced by a large dose of isoproterenol in dogs. Sixteen anesthetized dogs underwent a continuous infusion of isoproterenol (1 micro g.kg(-1).min(-1)) with or without a magnesium infusion (1 mg.kg(-1).min(-1)). The dose response to small doses of isoproterenol (0.025-0.2 micro g.kg(-1).min(-1)) was tested hourly. A large dose of isoproterenol decreased LV systolic function, increased the time constant of LV isovolumic relaxation, and suppressed the dose response to small doses of isoproterenol in a time-dependent manner. Magnesium significantly attenuated isoproterenol-induced LV systolic and diastolic dysfunction and preserved the dose response to isoproterenol. Serum-ionized calcium significantly decreased with a large dose of isoproterenol but was fully maintained at baseline level with magnesium. A large dose of isoproterenol increased serum lipid peroxide levels and serological markers of myocardial damage, which were significantly suppressed by magnesium. In conclusion, magnesium significantly attenuated excess isoproterenol-induced acute cardiac dysfunction and beta-adrenergic desensitization.  相似文献

A study was performed to determine whether a constant 1-week exposure to either alpha or beta agonists in vivo would allow alteration or manipulation of the responses of rat aortic alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors. Osmotic minipumps delivering either phenylephrine, isoproterenol, or propranolol for 7 days at a dose of 3.2, 4.2, or 5.2 mg/kg/day, respectively, were implanted in male Holtzman rats under halothane anesthesia. Seven days later, rats were killed and aortic ring preparations were used to measure alpha- and beta-adrenergic responses. In phenylephrine-pretreated rats, alpha-adrenergic responses, as measured by contractions induced by phenylephrine, were markedly reduced (P less than 0.05) across a dose range of 10(-9) to 10(-6) M. In contrast, in these same phenylephrine-pretreated preparations, the beta-adrenergic responses involving isoproterenol-induced relaxation were significantly increased (P less than 0.05) across a dose range of 10(-7) to 10(-5) M. Isoproterenol pretreatment for 7 days resulted in a statistically significant reduction of beta-adrenergic aortic relaxation, whereas the alpha-adrenergic responses to phenylephrine remained unchanged compared with controls. Propranolol pretreatment had no effect on either alpha- or beta-adrenergic responses. These findings indicate that the alpha agonist-induced response after in vivo pretreatment induces reciprocal changes in the functionally related beta-adrenergic apparatus, and also suggest linkage between these two receptors. In contrast, the beta response appears to desensitize or downregulate in response to beta agonist exposure in a manner that seems to be independent of or to operate in the absence of an alteration of the alpha response.  相似文献

Beta-Adrenergic stimulation of the ventral prostate cyclic-AMP system was investigated by examining the influence of isoproterenol on endogenous cyclic-AMP levels as well as on the activities of adenylate cyclase CEC 4.6.1.1) and cyclic-AMP-dependent and independent protein kinases (EC 2.7.1.37). Administration of isoproterenol (1 mg/kg, ip) resulted in rapid elevation of adenylate cyclase activity (119%) and cyclic-AMP levels (593%). The observed isoproterenol-stimulated changes in cyclic-AMP metabolism of the ventral prostate were time-dependent and maximal stimulation was seen 5 min after treatment with this beta-adrenergic agonist. The increases in prostatic adenylate cyclase and cyclic-AMP also were related to the dose of isoproterenol administered and maximal enhancement of these parameters was seen with 1 mg/kg dose of the agonist. Whereas pretreatment of rats with propranolol (3mg/kg, ip) partially reversed these alterations, administration of an alpha-adrenergic antagonist, phentolamine, even at a dose of 5 mg/kg, failed to elicit any appreciable effect. Stimulation of prostatic soluble protein kinase by isoproterenol was associated with a decrease (33%) in the activity of the cyclic-AMP-dependent protein kinase with a concomitant increase (25%) in that of the independent enzyme. Whereas the ability of the enzyme to bind cyclic-(3H) AMP in vitro was decreased (54%) following isoproterenol treatment, the protein kinase activity ratio (-cyclic-AMP/+cyclic AMP) was significantly elevated from 0.51+/0.05 to 0.95+/0.08. Although propranolol alone had little or no effect on these parameters, it inhibited partially the isoproterenol-induced alterations in cyclic-AMP-dependent protein kinase and the cyclic-AMP binding capacity. Treatment with propranolol also blocked the increases in the kinase activity ratio and in the activity of cyclic-AMP-independent enzyme seen with isoproterenol. Data suggest that the concentration of ventral prostate cyclic-AMP as well as the activities of adenylate cyclase and cyclic-AMP-dependent and independent form of protein kinases are subject to modulation by beta-adrenergic stimulation.  相似文献

The alcoholic extract of the latex obtained from Calotropis procera (Asclepidaceae) was evaluated for protection against isoproterenol (20 mg/100 g body wt., s.c.)-induced myocardial infarction in albino rats. The heart damage induced by isoproterenol was indicated by elevated levels of the marker enzymes such as Creatine Kinase-isoenzyme (CK-MB), Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), Serum Glutamate Oxaloacetic Transaminase (SGOT) and Serum Glutamate Pyruvate Transaminase (SGPT) in serum with increased lipid peroxide and reduced glutathione content in heart homogenates. Microscopical examination (histopathology) was also performed on the myocardial tissue. Pretreatment with an ethanolic latex extract of Calotropis procera at a dose of 300 mg/kg body wt., administered orally thrice a day for 30 days, reduced significantly (p < 0.01) the elevated marker enzyme levels in serum and heart homogenates in isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction. Histopathological observation revealed a marked protection by the extract in myocardial necrotic damage.  相似文献

The effects of isoproterenol on sialidase activity in rat cardiomyocytes were examined. Administration of isoproterenol to rats (0.2 or 2 mg/kg body weight) produced an increase in sialidase activity in total membrane fraction of heart tissue within 120 min (121+/-13% of the control at 120 min after administration of 0.2 mg isoproterenol/kg, n=5, P<0.05). Sialidase activity in cardiomyocyte-derived H9c2 cells was also increased by treatment with isoproterenol (10 microM) for 60 min. The effect of isoproterenol on sialidase activity was amplified by the addition of 3-isobutyl-1-methylxanthine (IBMX). Sialidase activity in H9c2 cells was elevated by treatment with dibutyryl cAMP plus IBMX without isoproterenol. The content of N-acetylneuraminic acid in cells decreased by 22% after treatment with isoproterenol plus IBMX. These results suggest that sialidase activity in rat cardiomyocytes is regulated by beta-adrenergic stimulators via a cAMP-dependent process. The increased activity of sialidase may account for the reduction of sialic acid content of cells.  相似文献

Cardiomyocyte apoptosis is a common pathological alteration in heart disease which results in systolic dysfunction or sudden death. Klotho is a novel anti-aging hormone. We tested the effects of klotho on cell apoptosis in isoproterenol-treated cardiomyocytes. In BALB/c mice, cardiac injury was induced by subcutaneous injection of isoproterenol (5mg/kg, for 9days, sc). Klotho (0.01 mg/kg, every other day for 4days, ip) was administered to determine the changes in isoproterenol-induced apoptosis. Mouse heart was harvested at day 2, day 5, and day 9 after isoproterenol injection. Isoproterenol induced cardiac apoptosis and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in a time-dependent manner. However, klotho partly reversed isoproterenol-induced cardiac apoptosis and ER stress. These same effects were observed in cultured cardiomyocytes. Furthermore, the results also showed that SB203580, a p38 inhibitor, and SP600125, a c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase (JNK) inhibitor, reduced cardiomyocyte apoptosis and ER stress, however, klotho suppressed isoproterenol-induced activation of p38 and JNK. Taken together, these results indicated that cardioprotection by klotho was related to the attenuation of ER stress and ER stress-induced apoptosis, at least partly, through suppressing activation of the p38 and JNK pathway.  相似文献

Both oxidative stress and β-MHC expression are associated with pathological cardiac hypertrophy. β-adrenergic receptor stimulation plays an important role in cardiac hypertrophy. Recent studies have reported a negative interplay between opioid receptors and adrenoceptors in heart. This study investigated the effect of U50,488H (a selective κ-opioid receptor agonist) on myocardial oxidative stress and α- and β-MHC expression in isoproterenol-induced cardiac hypertrophy. Male Wistar rats were administered normal saline (control), isoproterenol (ISO) (5 mg/kg BW s.c. OD), and isoproterenol with U50,488H (0.4 and 0.6 mg/kg BW, i.p. OD) for 14 days. In a separate group, nor-binaltorphimine (nor-BNI) (0.5 mg/kg, BW, i.p.) (κ-receptor antagonist) was administered along with ISO and U50,488H. ISO administration caused significant increase in left ventricular (LV) wall thicknesses, LV mass in echocardiography, heart weight to body weight ratio, and myocyte size as compared to control. Both the doses of U50,488H offered significant protection against these changes. The higher dose of U50,488H significantly prevented ISO-induced increase in myocardial lipid peroxidation and depletion of myocardial antioxidants (glutathione, superoxide dismutase, and catalase), while a similar trend (although not significant) was observed with the lower dose also. ISO-induced myocardial fibrosis was also significantly attenuated by both the doses of U50,488H. Isoproterenol-induced β-MHC expression in the hypertrophied heart was not altered by either doses of U50,488H, however, the latter prevented the loss of myocardial α-MHC expression. All these effects of U50,488H were blocked by nor-BNI. This study provides the evidence that U50,488H reduced oxidative stress and preserved expression of α-MHC in isoproterenol-induced cardiac hypertrophy.  相似文献

Administration of reserpine (RES) at a dosage of 0.5 mg/kg body wt, ip daily for 7 days was found to lower the dose of carbamylcholine and isoproterenol that alters sodium and potassium transport by cells of the main duct of rat submandibular gland. In the perfused main excretory duct of the submandibular gland of the RES rat, administration of carbamylcholine at a dosage of 1 microgram/kg body wt, inhibited net efflux of sodium (17%) and administration of isoproterenol at a dosage of 2 micrograms/kg body wt increased net efflux of sodium (20%); these drugs, at the same dosages, did not induce significant change in electrolyte flux of normal rat. At a dosage of 5 micrograms/kg body wt, carbamylcholine decreased net influx of potassium (15%) in the RES rat but was without effect on normal rat. Isoproterenol at the dosage of 5 micrograms/kg body wt significantly inhibited net influx of potassium in both the RES rat and normal rat. The data suggested that the duct cells developed supersensitivity to sympathomimetic and parasympathomimetic stimulation after chronic RES treatment.  相似文献

The effects of the muscarinic cholinergic agonist methacholine on affinity of beta-adrenergic receptors for isoproterenol and on isoproterenol-induced stimulation of adenylate cyclase activity were assessed in canine myocardium. GTP and guanyl-5'-yl imidoiphosphate both decreased the affinity of beta-adrenergic receptors for isoproterenol without altering the affinity of these receptors for propranolol. Methacholine (10 nM to 10 micronM) antagonized the guanine nucleotide-induced reduction in beta-adrenergic receptor affinity for isoproterenol. This effect of methacholine was reversed by atropine. The choline ester had no effect on the affinity of beta-adrenergic receptors for isoproterenol in the absence of guanine nucleotides. Likewise, methacholine had no effect on the affinity of beta-adrenergic receptors for propranolol, either in the presence or absence of guanine nucleotides. Methacholine also attenuated GTP-induced activation of adenylate cyclase or isoproterenol-induced activation of the enzyme in the presence of GTP. The effects of methacholine on myocardial adenylate cyclase activity were apparent only in the presence of GTP. These effects were also reversed by atropine. The choline ester had no effect on adenylate cyclase activity in the presence of guanyl-5'-yl imidodiphosphate or NaF. The results of the present study suggest that muscarinic cholinergic agonists can regulate both beta-adrenergic receptors and adenylate cyclase by modulating the effects of GTP.  相似文献

The embryotoxic action of amphotericin B and its methyl derivative was compared in rats after their intravenous and intraamniotic administration. The concentrations of amphotericin B and its methyl derivative in the amniotic cavity on days 13, 14 and 15 of pregnancy were 1.5 and 36 micrograms/ml, respectively. When administered intravenously during the preimplantation period the antibiotics had no embryotoxic action. Intravenous administration of amphotericin B in a dose of 500 micrograms/kg and its derivative in a dose of 2000 micrograms/kg during organ genesis induced a decrease in the craniocaudal size. In a dose of 3000 micrograms/kg administered intravenously the methyl derivative of amphotericin B induced an increase in postimplantation death rates. Administration of amphotericin B to the amniotic cavity had no damaging action. Administration of the methyl derivative on day 15 of pregnancy led to anomalous development of the lower extremities and slower ossification. The threshold doses by the embryotoxic action for intravenous administration are 500 micrograms/kg for amphotericin B and 2000 micrograms/kg for the methyl derivative. Administration of the antibiotics to the amniotic cavity revealed potential teratogenic properties of the amphotericin B methyl derivative.  相似文献

Studies of stress-induced cardiac hypertrophy suggest that myocardial mass is regulated by the circulating level of epinephrine. The trophic effect is mediated by cardiac beta-adrenergic receptors, and in the murine, rat, and dog heart, specifically by beta2-adrenergic receptors. The well-characterized functional effects of catecholamines on heart have obscured their role as myocardial trophic hormones. Therefore, we compared the effect of beta-adrenergic receptor stimulation on the myocardial mass of both a working innervated heart and an essentially nonworking denervated heterotopically transplanted heart in the same rat; in this model, the neural and stretch parameters are nonoperational in the transplanted heart. Ornithine decarboxylase (ODC), an enzyme elevated in a dose-dependent manner in heart by isoproterenol, was assayed in both hearts to determine the relationship between ODC activity and myocardial mass in response to isoproterenol administration in workin, innervated heart compared to denervated, nonworking heart. In both recipient and donor heart, the myocardial mass paralleled the ability of an isoproterenol bolus to stimulate ODC in the respective heart. However, beta-adrenergic receptor activity in the donor heart was decreased 5 days after transplantation as assessed by the differential ability of a single dose of isoproterenol to stimulate ODC activity. Beta-receptor coupling to ODC activity in the donor heart exceeded that of the recipient heart at 10 days posttransplantation suggesting a time-dependent elevation of beta-adrenergic receptor activity in donor heart. At all times, alterations in myocardial mass paralleled beta-adrenoceptor activity as assessed by the ability of isoproterenol administration to elevate ODC activity. The results support the concept that myocardial mass is regulated by the level of circulating hormones, particularly epinephrine.  相似文献
