Zusammenfassung 1. Der Jahreszyklus und die Verteilung der benthischen Copepodenfauna eines ufernahen Flachwassergebietes in der südlichen Kieler Bucht wurden untersucht.2. Die Populationsdichte zeigt im Juli und November jeweils ein deutliches Maximum. Im Laufe eines Jahres wechseln die dominierenden Arten mehrmals; die Artenvielfalt ist am höchsten im Sommer, am niedrigsten in Winter.3. Die meisten Harpacticoiden des Untersuchungsgebietes sind gegenüber organischer Verschmutzung indifferent. Nur wenige Arten kommen als Indikatoren in Betracht.
The benthic copepod fauna of an organically polluted sandy area in the Western Baltic Sea
The annual cycle and distribution of the benthic copepod fauna of a shallow inshore area in the South of Kiel Bay (Baltic Sea) were investigated. The species composition found is not typical for medium fine sand, but resembles that characteristic of a mixture of coarser sand, phytal and even soft bottoms. The mean population density was about 10 times smaller than in offshore stations (Scheibel, 1973). Obvious maxima were observed in July and November, and attributable to different species. The dominant harpacticoid species change several times during the year. Species diversity was highest in summer, lowest in winter, when only two species,Paraleptastacus holsaticus andScottopsyllus minor, were dominant. Many species show breeding maxima in spring and summer, a few in autum (e. g.Ameira parvula) or winter (e. g.Scottopsyllus minor). The effect of sewage pollution manifests itself significantly only in the immediate vicinity of the outfall: Species diversity decreases;Scottopsyllus minor, Nitocra spec., N. typica, Paraleptastacus holsaticus, Parastenhelia spinosa, as well asTachidius discipes are rather frequent in this zone. The potential value of these species as indicators of water quality is discussed. Most of the harpacticoids in the investigated area are rather tolerant to domestic waste products.

(1) An analysis of the metazoan fauna of Nahal Soreq was made at several sampling stations from October 1970 to August 1971. Relative abundance of each species or group of species was estimated by semi-quantitative sampling, and population structures are given here in the form of percentage tables. (2) A succession of three zones, indicating three degrees of pollution, were recognized: a ‘Nematode zone’ in the most polluted waters, a ‘Chironomus zone’, where purification has progressed a little, and a ‘Proasellus (and ostracod) zone’, where purification is nearing completion. (3) These zones of indicator organisms roughly correspond to three zones classified in a ‘Saprobien System’ manner: a polysaprobic zone (Nematode zone), a mesosaprobic zone (Chironomus zone), and an oligosaprobic zone (Proasellus zone). A state of complete purification or recovery is not reached, and the purification process is stopped in the oligosaprobic condition by the disappearance of the stream underground. The other invertebrates characterizing these three zones are given. (4) A comparison is made of the saprobic zones and their corresponding fauna with findings reported elsewhere---Europe, North America and South Africa. The successional changes are generally similar to European findings with some notable absentees, and there are also some similarities with polluted South African streams. (5) Seasonal changes in species composition and the position of these species along the stream are discussed. There are small changes which appear to be a result of life cycle habits in some air-breathing dipterans and a slight change in the position of chironomids downstream, which is correlated with the winter rain floods. (6) The faunal types and numbers occurring downstream are compared with the increase in algal species diversity, dissolved oxygen and coli bacterial counts. It is suggested that the degree of pollution is the primary factor in the establishment and population build-up of any particular species, but that presence of suitable substrates, availability of food and presence of predators play a larger part where the water is cleaner.  相似文献

The changes in the numbers of individuals of the constituent species and ammonia concentrations in 6 subsystems (Bacteria, bacteria-Cyclidium, bacteria-Aeolosoma, bacteria-Chlorella, bacteria-Cyclidium-Chlorella, bacteria-Aeolosoma-Chlorella) of an aquatic microcosm were examined after the addition of organic substance (peptone) at both the young and mature stages of succession. Organic loading led to decreases in the numbers of bacteria and Aeolosoma after temporary increases in their numbers and an oscillation in the numbers of Cyclidium but the densities of these populations were maintained at constant values in the presence of Chlorella. When organic substance was added at a young stage where the photosynthetic activities of algae were high, invertebrates, especially Aeolosoma, were damaged by unionized ammonia which was formed as the pH value increased. In contrast, organic loading at the mature stage enhanced the population densities and biomasses of all constituent species.  相似文献

Abstract Trunk–associated invertebrates were sampled on two rough‐barked tree species (jarrah, Eucalyptus marginata and marri, E. calophylla) at Karragullen, in the hills near Perth, Western Australia, and on these two species plus two smooth‐barked species (wandoo, E. wandoo, and powderbark wandoo, E. accedens) at Dryandra, a drier site situated 150 km to the south‐east. Invertebrates were sampled by intercept traps, which collect animals that attempt to land on the trunks, and photo‐eclector bark traps, which collect invertebrates that move, or live, on the trunk. The range and abundance of invertebrates sampled was generally greater in the intercept than the bark traps. Invertebrate abundance and activity (but not biomass) on bark was strongly seasonal, with greater numbers being found during the moister periods. The two smooth‐barked species supported, and were visited by, more invertebrates than the two rough‐barked species. There was some evidence that jarrah supported more invertebrates than marri at both Karragullen and Dryandra, although the results were equivocal. Within the two smooth‐barked species, wandoo tended to support more invertebrates than powderbark wandoo. These trends are discussed in terms of the characteristics of the bark of these trees and the environments in which they occur.  相似文献

The Rhine ecosystem is highly influenced by anthropogenic stresses from pollution, intensive shipping and increased connectivity with other large European rivers. Canalization of the Rhine resulted in a reduction of heterogeneity to two main biotopes: sandy streambeds and riverbanks consisting of groyne stones. Both biotopes are heavily subjected to biological invasions, affecting the rivers food web structure. The Ponto-Caspian amphipods, Chelicorophium curvispinum and Dikerogammarus villosus, have exerted the highest impact on this food web. The filterfeeding C. curvispinum dominated the Rhine food web on the stones in 1998, swamping the stone substrata with mud. However, in 2001 it decreased in numbers, most likely due to top-down regulation caused by increased parasitic and predatory pressure of other more recently invaded Ponto-Caspian species. D. villosus showed a fast population increase after its invasion and particularly influenced the macroinvertebrate community on the stones by predaceous omnivory. This species seemed to have maintained its predatory level after its population established. Effects of these mass invaders on the macroinvertebrate community of sandy streambeds in the Rhine are unclear. Here, low densities of macroinvertebrates were observed with the Asiatic clam, Corbicula fluminea, as most abundant species. Stable isotope values of food webs from the stones and sand in 2001 were similar. Aquatic macrophytes are nearly absent and the food web is fuelled by phytoplankton and particulate organic matter, originating from riparian vegetation as indicated by similar δ13C values. Omnivores, filter-, deposit-, and detritus-feeders are the primary and secondary macroinvertebrate consumers and function as keystone species in transferring energy to higher trophic levels. Invaders comprise 90% of the macroinvertebrate numbers, and can be considered ecosystem engineers determining the functional diversity and food web structure of the Rhine by either bottom-up or top-down regulation.  相似文献

Aquatic oligochaetes are abundant in polluted areas and are, therefore, commonly used as bioindicators to study organic pollution in rivers and streams. In order to develop a species-level oligochaete biotic index to reflect the River Pollution Index (RPI) in the Taichung Water Basin in Taiwan, we conducted a systematic sampling scheme to collect aquatic oligochaetes from the sediment samples of watercourses in the Taichung Water Basin, Taiwan. We evaluated the relationships between aquatic oligochaetes and the sewage pollution using statistical methods. The distribution of aquatic oligochaetes in relation to environmental variables, such as water quality and sediment characteristics of the regional urban contaminated streams was expressed by Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA). We identified 17 species of aquatic oligochaetes (Annelida, Clitellata) including 3 species of Tubificidae, 13 species of Naididae, and 1 species of Enchytraeidae from the watercourses of an urban region in the Taichung Water Basin in Taiwan, during the summer and winter of 2005 and 2006. A positive correlation was found between the total abundance of aquatic oligochaetes and the RPI (r = 0.58, P < 0.05). However, only population density of the most abundant tubificid, Limnodrilus hoffmeisteri, increased with increasing RPI values and a significantly negative correlation was found between the population density of the naidid, Nais communis, and RPI values. The results of CCA indicated that certain naidids, such as Aulophorus furcatus and Allonais gwaliorensis also tolerated extremely polluted environments in upper stream or stony habitats, implying that tubificids should not be the sole representation of simple biotic indices but should also include pollution-tolerant naidids. We found that the community structure of aquatic oligochaetes was influenced by short-term variations in microhabitat rather than according to seasonal factors in our study region. The results proved that aquatic oligochaetes were sensitive enough to provide a supplement for the regional urban pollution assessment applications for biotic indicators at the species-level.  相似文献

The coastal ecosystems of California are highly utilized by humans and animals, but the ecology of fecal bacteria at the land–sea interface is not well understood. This study evaluated the distribution of potentially pathogenic bacteria in invertebrates from linked marine, estuarine, and freshwater ecosystems in central California. A variety of filter-feeding clams, mussels, worms, and crab tissues were selectively cultured for Salmonella spp., Campylobacter spp., Escherichia coli-O157, Clostridium perfringens, Plesiomonas shigelloides, and Vibrio spp. A longitudinal study assessed environmental risk factors for detecting these bacterial species in sentinel mussel batches. Putative risk factors included mussel collection near higher risk areas for livestock or human sewage exposure, adjacent human population density, season, recent precipitation, water temperature, water type, bivalve type, and freshwater outflow exposure. Bacteria detected in invertebrates included Salmonella spp., C. perfringens, P. shigelloides, Vibrio cholerae, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, and Vibrio alginolyticus. Overall, 80% of mussel batches were culture positive for at least one of the bacterial species, although the pathogens Campylobacter, E. coli-O157, and Salmonella were not detected. Many of the same bacterial species were also cultured from upstream estuarine and riverine invertebrates. Exposure to human sewage sources, recent precipitation, and water temperature were significant risk factors for bacterial detection in sentinel mussel batches. These findings are consistent with the hypothesis that filter-feeding invertebrates along the coast concentrate fecal bacteria flowing from land to sea and show that the relationships between anthropogenic effects on coastal ecosystems and the environmental niches of fecal bacteria are complex and dynamic.  相似文献

The paper reviews the past, present and future of eight anadromous fish species inhabiting the Lower Rhine (The Netherlands), viz. -sturgeon (Acipenser sturio), whitefish and houting (Coregonus lavaretus, C. oxyrinchus), smelt (Osmerus eperlanus), allis and twaite shad (Alosa alosa, A. fallax), sea trout (Salmo trutta) and salmon (Salmo salar). All species are under threat or became extinct (e.g. sturgeon, allis shad). It is not possible to single out a specific factor for the decline or disappearance. A combination of factors is responsible, as the degradation of the spawning and nursery areas, river correction for shipping, building of sluices and hydropower dams, extraction of sand and gravel and river pollution. The likelihood that a species will return via natural recovery, or restocking is assessed. The return of the sturgeon is unlikely. Present observations of sturgeon can be attributed to releases of unwanted sturgeon hybrids. A natural stock of coregonids in Dutch waters seems not feasible any more due to irreversible habitat degradation. Present day catches originate from German releases. The anadromous smelt, heavily reduced in numbers, still inhabits some of our waters, the non-migratory smelt is still very common. The allis shad is extinct and unlikely to recover. The species never spawned in the Dutch part of the Rhine. Twaite shad, declining in numbers, are still observed in the lower reaches of Rhine and Meuse. Sea trout is presumably still present in the same varying numbers as before. Spawning in our waters has not been documented. The salmon, once fished in large numbers, is now the subject of restocking programmes in Germany. Observations of individuals can partly be attributed to these programmes but also to straying salmon. Restocking programmes should be considerably improved before noticeable success is to be met.  相似文献

From information on pollution-tolerant algae compiled from reports from 165 authors, the genera and species most often referred to as significant fall into a relatively stable series. Diatoms, pigmented flagellates, green, and blue-green algae are all well represented among the pollution-tolerant genera and species. The top 8 genera are Euglena, Oscillatoria, Chlamydomonas, Scenedesmus, Chlorella, Nitzschia, Navicula, and Stigeoclonium, and the top 5 species, Euglena viridis, Nitzschia palea, Oscillatoria limosa, Scenedesmus quadricauda, and Oscillatoria tennis. In some genera, e.g., Euglena, a single species is far more significant than all others as a pollution-tolerant form. In other genera, e.g., Oscillatoria, only a slight difference distinguishes the pollution tolerance of 2 or more species. Algal genus and species pollution indices arc presented for use in rating water samples with high organic pollution.  相似文献

Parasitism is considered a major selective force in natural host populations. Infections can decrease host condition and vigour, and potentially influence, for example, host population dynamics and behavior such as mate choice. We studied parasite infections of two common marine fish species, the sand goby (Pomatoschistus minutus) and the common goby (Pomatoschistus microps), in the brackish water Northern Baltic Sea. We were particularly interested in the occurrence of parasite taxa located in central sensory organs, such as eyes, potentially affecting fish behavior and mate choice. We found that both fish species harbored parasite communities dominated by taxa transmitted to fish through aquatic invertebrates. Infections also showed significant spatiotemporal variation. Trematodes in the eyes were very few in some locations, but infection levels were higher among females than males, suggesting differences in exposure or resistance between the sexes. To test between these hypotheses, we experimentally exposed male and female sand gobies to infection with the eye fluke Diplostomum pseudospathaceum. These trials showed that the fish became readily infected and females had higher parasite numbers, supporting higher susceptibility of females. Eye fluke infections also caused high cataract intensities among the fish in the wild. Our results demonstrate the potential of these parasites to influence host condition and visual abilities, which may have significant implications for survival and mate choice in goby populations.  相似文献

The Salton Sea, California's largest inland water body, is an athalassic saline lake with an invertebrate fauna dominated by marine species. The distribution and seasonal dynamics of the benthic macroinvertebrate populations of the Salton Sea were investigated during 1999 in the first survey of the benthos since 1956. Invertebrates were sampled from sediments at depths of 2–12 m, shallow water rocky substrates, and littoral barnacle shell substrates. The macroinvertebrates of the Salton Sea consist of a few invasive, euryhaline species, several of which thrive on different substrates. The principal infaunal organisms are the polychaetes Neanthes succinea Frey & Leuckart and Streblospio benedicti Webster, and the oligochaetes Thalassodrilides gurwitschi Cook, T. belli Hrabe, and an enchytraeid. All but Neanthes are new records for the Sea. Benthic crustacean species are the amphipods Gammarus mucronatus Say, Corophium louisianum Shoemaker, and the barnacle Balanus amphitrite Darwin. Neanthes succinea is the dominant infaunal species on the Sea bottom at depths of 2–12 m. Area-weighted estimates of N. succinea standing stock in September and November 1999 were two orders of magnitude lower than biomass estimated in the same months in 1956. During 1999, population density varied spatially and temporally. Abundance declined greatly in offshore sediments at depths >2 m during spring and summer due to decreasing oxygen levels at the sediment surface, eventually resulting in the absence of Neanthes from all offshore sites >2 m between July and November. In contrast, on shoreline rocky substrate, Neanthes persisted year round, and biomass density increased nearly one order of magnitude between January and November. The rocky shoreline had the highest numbers of invertebrates per unit area, exceeding those reported by other published sources for Neanthes, Gammarus mucronatus, Corophium louisianum, and Balanus amphitrite in marine coastal habitats. The rocky shoreline habitat is highly productive, and is an important refuge during periods of seasonal anoxia for Neanthes and for the other invertebrates that also serve as prey for fish and birds.  相似文献

Summary An ecological study of amebas in the Hogtown Creek, which serves as a water-shed for the northwest quadrant of the city of Gainesville, Florida, indicates that the species which inhabit the creek are those typical of slow-flowing, moderate to warm freshwater streams of slightly alkaline nature. The Creek is essentially an unpolluted rural stream at its source; but receives both industrial and civil pollution in its course through the city. In the course of its flow some seven miles beyond the major entry of pollution, it recovers, and becomes again a rural stream with little significant pollution. Amebas disappear from the creek at the point where industrial pollution enters, and are found again in small numbers at two to four miles downstream. Thereafter, in the course of another three miles, amebas appear in greater numbers. Active amebas were not found whenever the pH of the stream became acid, at whatever station. None of the species known to be acidophilous were seen, with the exception of Difflugia oblonga, which may be ubiquitous. Some indication is noted that certain amebas prefer waters of certain temperature range, particularly within the genus Difflugia. In that genus D. lobostoma, D. tuberculata, D. urceolata, D. amphora, D. oviformis and D. acuminata were present more often in waters above 21° C.; whereas D. oblonga, D. globulosa, D. corona, D. gramen, and D. elegans were more often present in waters at temperatures below 21° C. Both naked and testate rhizopods were more numerous at or near pH 7.6; and in general both naked and testate amebas were more numerous at temperatures slightly below 21° C. It is suggested that any species of ameba may have a more or less restricted range of tolerance to any particular physical factor in the environment, with a presumed optimum for each factor, resulting in the appearance and disappearance of various species as the factors vary.Supported by Research Grant NIH-E-1158.  相似文献

Benthic meiofauna was sampled at 19 stations, mainly in the northern part of Lake Ladoga, from depths between 13 and 199 m and from types of environment ranging from sheltered areas near pollution sources to less polluted open areas. About 80 taxa were identified, of these 70 to the species level. The greatest numbers of species were oligochaetes (24 species) and harpacticoids (8 species). Certain quantitative ratios of meiofauna were shown to be correlated with environmental data. The species of the oligochaete families Lumbriculidae and Aeolosomatidae and the harpacticoids as a collective group, excluding Canthocamptus staphylinus, were most clearly confined to the less eutrophied environments. The oligochaete species Amphichaeta leydigii, Dero digitata and Tubifex tubifex, the resting stages of Cyclopinae, and Eucyclops serrulatus among the Eucyclopinae were most clearly concentrated in the eutrophicated or polluted environments. The groups of Naididae, Cladocera and Eucyclopinae did not have much value as indicators. Shannon diversity index correlated positively with the total phosphorus content of the water, and number of species decreased with increasing depth. In general, it seems that the pollution tolerance of the meiofauna in a very large lake such as Lake Ladoga is high, presumably due to the effective mixing of water masses.  相似文献

In an experimental study we assessed if benthic bioturbating invertebrates affect the recruitment (hatching) of zooplankton from the sediment, and if this effect persists as differences in the zooplankton community in the water column, that is, if bioturbation quantitatively stimulates benthic–pelagic coupling. We investigated the effects of four different benthic invertebrates (Asellus aquaticus, Chironomus plumosus, Tubifex tubifex in the presence or absence of the predator Sialis lutaria). In total, 45 zooplankton taxa hatched from the sediment and the hatching success of some of these was dependent on the species identity of the bioturbating invertebrate. The predator Sialis reduced the abundance of all three invertebrate species, but tended to positively influence the zooplankton recruitment rates, possibly through increasing the activity of the bioturbating invertebrates. The most striking effect of bioturbation on the hatching and pelagic zooplankton community properties was that, on average, 11% more species hatched in the Asellus treatment than in any other treatment. This was also mirrored in the zooplankton water column community where, on average, 7% more species established a viable population in treatments with Asellus as bioturbator. In a complementary field survey, Asellus was more common in littoral than in profundal sediments. Because Asellus strongly affected recruitment of zooplankton in our experiment, we argue that bioturbation may partly explain why recruitment of resting stages of both phyto- and zooplankton is generally higher in littoral than in profundal areas.  相似文献

Summary Structural complexity of the habitat significantly increases population density and number of species in assemblages of predatory gastropod molluscs (families Conidae, Muricidae, Mitridae and Vasidae) on intertidal, generally smooth, horizontal limestone platforms fringing tropical Pacific islands. The important topographic features are physical (depressions partly filled with coral rubble) and biotic (thick algal turf binding sand). Higher population density and species richness in areas with than without such natural refuges, and following experimental addition of artificial refuges on portions of habitat lacking them support this hypothesis. Two species of Drupa differ from the other species present in not utilizing refuges during times of physical stress; this is attributed to their depressed shell and broad, tenacious foot. Highest gastropod densities occur in steep-sided depressions and those containing much coral rubble and sand, suggesting that these are important qualities of refuges. We believe this is the first demonstration of how specific environmental factors affect population density and species diversity of benthic invertebrates in a coral reef-associated habitat.  相似文献

A comparative study of the dispersal of 10 species of stream invertebrates   总被引:4,自引:1,他引:3  
1. Apart from downstream dispersal through invertebrate drift, few quantitative data are available to model the dispersal of stream invertebrates, i.e. the outward spreading of animals from their point of origin or release. The present study provides comparative data for 10 species, using two independent methods: unmarked animals in six stream channels built over a stony stream and marked animals in the natural stream. Experiments were performed in April and June 1973 and 1974, with initial numbers of each species varying from 20 to 80 in the stream channels and 20 to 60 for marked animals. 2. Results were the same for marked invertebrates and those in the channels. Dispersal was not density‐dependent; the number of dispersing animals was a constant proportion of the initial number for each species. The relationship between upstream or downstream dispersal distance and the number of animals travelling that distance was well described by an inverse power function for all species (exponential and log models were poorer fits). Results varied between species but were similar within species for the 4 months, and therefore were unaffected by variations in mean water velocity (range 0.04–0.35 m s?1) or water temperature (range 6.7–8.9 °C in April, 12.1–14.8 °C in June). 3. Species were arranged in order, according to their dispersal abilities. Three carnivores (Perlodes, Rhyacophila, Isoperla) dispersed most rapidly (70–91% in 24 h, maximum distances 9.5–13.5 m per day), followed by two species (Protonemura, Rhithrogena) in which about half their initial numbers dispersed (50–51% in 24 h, 7.5–8 m per day), and four species (Ecdyonurus, Hydropsyche, Gammarus, Baetis) in which less than half dispersed (33–40% in 24 h, 5.5–7 m per day). Dispersal was predominantly upstream for all nine species. Few larvae (20%) of Potamophylax dispersed, with similar maximum upstream and downstream distances of 3.5 m per day. The mean time spent drifting downstream was known for seven species from previous studies, and correlated positively with their dispersal distances. Therefore, the species formed a continuum from rapid to very slow dispersers. These interspecific differences should be considered when evaluating the role of dispersal in the maintenance of genetic diversity in stream invertebrates, and in their ability to colonise or re‐colonise habitats.  相似文献

1. Ship‐induced waves can affect the physical characteristics of lake and river shorelines, and laboratory studies have shown effects on littoral invertebrates. Here, we explored whether these effects could be observed under field conditions along a natural lake shore affected by wave sequences (trains) produced by boats. 2. Individuals of five invertebrate species (Bithynia tentaculata, Calopteryx splendens, Dikerogammarus villosus, Gammarus roeselii, Laccophilus hyalinus) were exposed to waves with increasing shear stress in five habitats differing in structural complexity. 3. Detachment of invertebrates increased with increasing shear stress and was best modelled using sigmoid response curves. Habitat structural complexity mitigated the effects of shear stress, and detachment rate was influenced more by habitat type than by species. A threshold (90% of the individual invertebrates unaffected) stress level of 0.64 N m?2 was found for a structurally complex reed habitat, compared to 0.37 N m?2 for a simple sand habitat. 4. Shear stress associated with wave trains created by recreational boating at a distance of 35 m from the shore and at a speed of 11 km h?1 resulted in 45% detachment of littoral invertebrates. Decreasing the boat‐to‐shore distance to 20 m increased wave shear stress by 30% and invertebrate detachments up to 75%. 5. Disturbance of littoral habitats and invertebrate assemblages are widespread in inland waters used for recreational and/or commercial navigation. Our findings show that the integrity of littoral zones of navigable surface waters could be much improved by implementing management measures such as physically protecting complex habitats with dense reed belts and tree roots, and reducing boat speeds and increasing their minimum shoreline distance.  相似文献

The potential use of epilithic diatoms as indicators of organic pollution was evaluated in Gravataí River, RS, (latitude 29°45′–30°12′ S; longitude 50°27′–51°12′ W). The river suffers agricultural impacts in its upper course and urban and industrial organic pollution in its lower course. Epilithic diatoms were sampled eight times from September 2000 to August 2002, at six sites. Species were identified and densities and relative abundances of populations were determined. Simultaneously, physical, chemical and microbiological variables were measured (water temperature, conductivity, turbidity, pH, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5), chemical oxygen demand, ammonium, organic nitrogen, total nitrogen, ortho-phosphate, total phosphate, chloride and faecal coliforms). In order to interpret the environmental and biological variables, discriminant analysis and the TWINSPAN methods (Two-Way Indicator Species Analysis) were applied. The results indicated that the concentrations of ortho-phosphate, ammonium, total organic nitrogen, BOD5 and faecal coliforms characterized a pollution gradient along the river, where changes in the abundance or species composition were observed. Species were classified into three groups: Group A, including species more tolerant to heavy organic pollution and eutrophication, represented by Luticola goeppertiana, L. mutica, Eolimna subminuscula, Nitzschia palea and Sellaphora pupula; Group B, comprised of tolerant and widely distributed species such as Eunotia bilunaris, Frustulia crassinervia, F. saxonica, Navicula cryptocephala, N. cryptotenella, Nitzschia palea var. tenuirostris, Surirella angusta, Pinnularia microstauron and Ulnaria ulna and Group C, with less pollution tolerant species represented by Eunotia sp. and Gomphonema parvulum.  相似文献

The present study investigated the age, growth, mortality and morphometry of the sand smelt, Atherina boyeri, in the Mala Neretva River estuary (mid‐eastern Adriatic Sea). The study of scale annuli showed that the population is up to 4 years of age. However, most sand smelt are in their first and second year; the numbers of older individuals are very low because they migrate upstream and are heavily fished. The von Bertalanffy parameters for the total sample of sand smelt were found to be L = 13.5 cm, K = 0.37 year?1 and t0 = ?0.97. Overall total mortality was estimated at 1.81 year?1, natural mortality was 0.90 year?1 and fishing mortality was 0.91 year?1.  相似文献

为探究乡土和外来树种对城市不同污染环境的适应性,选取阜新市工业区、道路、矿区和公园绿地共有的10种树种作为研究对象,采用洗脱法测定了各树种单位叶面积滞尘量,并测定了叶片滞尘前后生理指标的变化,探讨不同种树叶片滞尘效应,以及叶片滞尘后对植物生理活动的影响。结果表明:(1)在4个功能区的不同树种单位叶面积滞尘量均不同,其中新疆杨单位叶面积滞尘量都较高、均值为1.45 g/m2,银杏单位叶面积滞尘量都较低、均值仅有0.92 g/m2。(2)叶片滞尘之后生理指标分析显示,叶片SPAD值呈显著下降趋势,渗透调节物质(脯氨酸、可溶性蛋白、可溶性糖)含量和细胞膜透性(MDA、Rec)均呈上升趋势,而抗氧化酶活性(SOD和POD)呈下降趋势但下降率不明显。(3)银杏和五角枫滞尘量与各生理指标之间有显著相关关系,更适合从生理方面检测城市粉尘污染环境指示物。(4)4个功能区不同树种滞尘能力与抗尘能力聚类分析显示,新疆杨、紫丁香、山皂荚和臭椿的滞尘能力和抗尘能力均较强;阜新市外来树种新疆杨、紫叶李、臭椿等的滞尘和抗尘能力均与乡土树种相当。研究认为,在长期粉尘污染胁迫下,各绿化树种可能通过提高渗透调节物质含量和抗氧化酶的活性等来缓解粉尘污染的伤害,外来树种与乡土树种同样在各污染环境中表现出较强的适应能力;在不造成生物入侵危害的前提下应该积极引进能够有效滞尘和治沙防风的外来树种。  相似文献
