Samples of phytoplankton were taken from the Euphrat and Tigris Estuary (Shatt al-Arab) in April 1974 and investigated by means of the inverted microscope. Among 226 species identified in the samples 95 were of marine origin. The share of diatoms in the total numbers of cells from all stations amounted to 68%. The abundance of planktonic green algae amounted to 19%, of the blue greens to 13%. The number of marine species continuously increased in the longitudinal axis of the 139 km section considered. The data of the phytoplankton were compared with the gradation of some environmental variables (temperature, transparency, dissolved oxygen, chloride). Regular longitudinal or vertical differences of these parameters were not observed.  相似文献

We undertook a study in Lake Taihu, China, from 2005 to 2009 including a total of 639 samples to determine: (i) the seasonal dynamics and spatial distribution of the chemical oxygen demand (COD) and (ii) the relationships between the COD concentration and the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), phytoplankton pigment, total dissolved nitrogen (TDN), and total dissolved phosphorus (TDP) concentrations, as well as the chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM) absorption coefficient. There were significant spatial differences in the COD concentration, which gradually decreased from Zhushan Bay in the northwest, to the north, the lake center, and the southeast of the lake. The COD concentration was significantly higher at near-shore sites than that at open water sites. The mean COD concentrations were significantly higher in the spring and summer than in the winter and autumn. The lowest annual mean COD concentration appeared in 2009, which could be attributed to improvements in water quality management and high rainfall. The COD concentrations in all four seasons were strongly correlated with phytoplankton pigment, suggesting that extracellular release of COD from phytoplankton was an important COD source. The correlation coefficients between the COD and phytoplankton pigment concentrations were higher in the spring, summer, and autumn than in the winter, showing a more important contribution of phytoplankton degradation to COD in the algal bloom season than in the non-algal bloom season. These new data on the temporal and spatial characteristics of the COD in Lake Taihu will be crucial for developing future strategies for water quality management.  相似文献

Summary The results of the limnological investigations of Swetganga, one of the thermal springs of Bakreswar, West Bengal, India, have formed the basis of this paper. The samples of water were collected eleven times from the month of September '67 to October '68 at regular intervals for analysis. The physical conditions like depth, temperature and chemical factors like pH, free carbon dioxide, phenolphthalein alkalinity, total alkalinity, total hardness, chloride, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, silicate and dissolved oxygen were determined. A qualitative and quantitative analysis of plankton was also made.The water of the Kund was found to be distinctly alkaline on all occasions. Since free carbon dioxide was absent in all samples, phenolphthalein alkalinity was always recorded in appreciable quantities.The lower values of chloride were noted only during the monsoon months due to the dilution of water by the rain. The silicate content showed erratic fluctuations. Large amounts of phosphate were always present in the Kund. The absence of nitrite and traces of nitrate throughout, is a characteristic feature of this thermal spring.An attempt has been made, whenever possible, to attribute the reason of the changes and also to correlate the plankton blooms with the chemical factors. The coefficient of correlation between total alkalinity and phytoplankton (–0.529) indicates a negative correlation, significant at the 10 per cent level. No significant relation between phytoplankton and pH values (r = 0.183) has been observed. An apparent inverse relation between dissolved oxygen and phytoplankton has been noted.A list of phytoplankton and zooplankton has been incorporated. Total phytoplankton varied between 8.91 per cent and 100 per cent and the zooplankton between nil and 91.08 per cent of the total plankton bulk.  相似文献

2008-2009年对钦州湾及附近海域进行4个季节航次的浮游植物调查,共鉴定出浮游植物131种,其中硅藻种数最多,达101种,占浮游植物总种数的77.1%;甲藻次之,23种;其他种类3门7种.浮游植物以广温性种和暖水性种为主.总种类数的季节变化与硅藻种类数均为春季最低,夏、秋、冬依次增加,冬季最高.各季节浮游植物丰度为232.28×104~977.0×104 cell·m-3,平均为558.57×104 cell·m-3;各季节浮游植物丰度呈现夏、春、冬和秋依次减少的趋势;各区域浮游植物丰度四季均为由内湾至外湾先升高、到湾外逐渐降低的趋势,但在夏季其高丰度区由外湾南移至湾口附近.浮游植物群落的Shannon多样性指数和均匀度指数平均值分别为3.18和0.63,多样性水平较高.浮游植物丰度与温度、盐度、溶解性无机氮及活性磷酸盐的相关关系因季节而变化.  相似文献

1. The ratio of carbon to phosphorus (C : P) in seston is a major determinant of energy transfer in aquatic food webs and may vary more than an order of magnitude owing to various extrinsic and intrinsic factors. In this study, the determinants of C : P‐ratios in lake particulate matter (seston) was assessed in 112 Norwegian lakes, covering a C : P (atomic ratio) from 24 to 1842 (mean 250). 2. No overall effects of lake area, season or latitude on C : P was detected. Particulate P, but not particulate C, correlated with C : P. Multivariate analysis including a range of lake properties revealed total dissolved P, as the major determinant of sestonic C : P, with the fraction of detritus in total seston, chlorophyll or Secchi depth and lake colour as significant contributors. Together these parameters explained 30% of observed variance if using dissolved P and 81% if using total P as input variable to the multivariate model. 3. Chlorophyll and Secchi depth were highly correlated and substitutable in the analysis. Phytoplankton community composition did not affect seston C : P, probably reflecting the fact that live phytoplankton generally contributed <25% of the seston pool. 4. Total P correlated positively with C : P and is the key determinant of phytoplankton biomass and thus Secchi depth; the latter parameters contributed negatively to seston C : P, probably owing to increased light attenuation. These lake data thus support the light : nutrient ratio hypothesis, i.e. that high light and low P cause skewed uptake ratios of C to P. 5. Zooplankton biomass in general and Daphnia biomass in particular, was negatively correlated with C : P, probably reflecting a negative impact of poor seston quality at high C : P. Zooplankton grazing and nutrient recycling may also have contributed to a negative correlation between zooplankton biomass and sestonic C : P.  相似文献

The aim of this research was to examine nutrient limitation of phytoplankton in solar salt ponds of varying salinity at Useless Inlet in Western Australia. These ponds use solar energy to evaporate seawater for the purpose of commercial salt production. A combination of techniques involving water column nutrient ratios, comparisons of nutrient concentrations to concentration of magnesium ions and bioassays were used in the investigation. Comparisons of changes in dissolved inorganic nitrogen to phosphorus ratios and concentrations of dissolved inorganic nutrients against changes in concentrations of the conservative cation Mg2+ indicated that phytoplankton biomass was potentially nitrogen limited along the entire pond salinity gradient. Nutrient addition bioassays indicated that in low salinity ponds, phytoplankton was nitrogen limited but in high salinity ponds, phosphorus limited. This may be due to isolation of phytoplankton in bioassay bottles from in situ conditions as well as to changes in phytoplankton species composition between ponds, and the variable availability of inorganic and organic nutrient sources. The differences in limiting nutrient between methods indicate that phytoplankton cells may be proximally limited by nutrients that are not theoretically limiting at the pond scale. Dissolved organic nutrients constituted a large proportion of total nutrients, with concentrations increasing through the pond sequence of increasing salinity. From the change in nutrient concentrations in bioassay bottles, sufficient dissolved organic nitrogen may be available for phytoplankton uptake in low salinity ponds, potentially alleviating the dissolved inorganic nitrogen limitation of phytoplankton biomass. Phytoplankton nutrient limitation in Colorado mountain lakes   总被引:12,自引:0,他引:12  
SUMMARY. 1. Limiting nutrients for phytoplankton were studied experimentally in eight mountain lakes of central Colorado between May and November of 1984.
2. Five categories of phytoplankton limitation were identified: no limitation, N limitation, P limitation, concurrent limitation (stimulation only by simultaneous additions of N and P), and reciprocal limitation (stimulation by addition of either N or P). The phytoplankton communities of three lakes were primarily N-limited, one was primarily phosphorus-limited, and four showed primarily combined limitation (concurrent or reciprocal). Switching between categories of limitation was also observed within lakes. Nitrogen was the most frequently limiting nutrient; N, either alone or in combination with P, accounted for 79% of all observed instances of limitation.
3. Nine indices were tested for effectiveness in predicting phytoplankton limitation by N and P. The best indices for discriminating all limitations were ratios of dissolved inorganic N: total P (84% accuracy) and dissolved inorganic N:total dissolved P (80% accuracy). The effectiveness of these indices may be explained by the degree to which they represent N and P fractions actually available to the phytoplankton.  相似文献

Hydrochemical conditions in the A?u Lagoon are described using spatial and temporal variations of various limnological variables (water temperature, dissolved oxygen, electric conductivity, total alkalinity, carbon dioxide, dissolved and total nutrients (N, P and Si), and chlorophyll a). Collected data was used in order to understand the structure and functioning of an enclosed coastal lagoon strongly influenced by climatic conditions. Water samples were collected monthly (November 1999-December 2000) in five sampling stations established along the lagoon. A decreasing spatial gradient of electrical conductivity was observed beginning from a sand bar region between the lagoon and the sea in the direction of the sweet-water input area. The positive correlation observed between the pH and dissolved oxygen (DO) values, and the negative one observed between pH values and those of carbon dioxide (CO2), evidenced coupled biological processes, e.g., primary production and decomposition. Both spatial and temporal variation of dissolved nutrients showed fast increase and decrease in the beginning of summer, suggesting that nutrient input resulting from rainfall stimulates phytoplankton production, as reflected by chlorophyll a concentration increase.  相似文献

In order to yield some insights into the planktonic food web structure of new reservoirs, size‐fractionated biomass and productivity of phytoplankton were examined from 1996 to 1997 (following the 1995 flooding of the Sep Reservoir, Puy‐de‐Dôme, France), in relation to nutrients (P, N) and metazooplankton (Rotifers, Cladocera, Copepods). Autotrophic nanoplankton (ANP, size class 3–45 μm) dominated the phytoplankton biomass (as Chlorophyll a) and production, while autotrophic picoplankton (APP, 0.7–3 μm) exhibited the lowest and relatively constant biomass and production. Cells of the autotrophic microplankton (AMP, >45 μm) were considered inedible for planktonic herbivores. The production‐biomass diagram for the different size classes and the positive correlation between APP production and ANP + AMP production suggested that grazing was potentially more important than nutrients in shaping the phytoplankton size structure. Metazooplankton biomass was low compared to other newly flooded reservoirs or to natural lakes with phytoplankton biomass similar to that of the Sep Reservoir. This resulted in low ratios (metazooplankton to edible phytoplankton) both in terms of production (average 0.43% in 1996 and 0.76% in 1997) and biomass, suggesting that only a small fraction of phytoplankton was directly consumed by metazooplankton. We suggest that the observed low ratios in the Sep Reservoir, reflect possible low metazooplankton inputs in the main influents, changes in hydrologic conditions and a high potential role of microheterotrophs. The latter role was supported by (i) the positive inter‐annual correlation between ciliates and phytoplankton, (ii) the significant and negative correlations between ciliates and metazooplankton, and (iii) the significant and negative correlations between total metazooplankton biomass and total phosphorus (TP), whereas neither TP nor total metazooplankton biomass was correlated with phytoplankton variables.  相似文献

The major objective of these studies was to assess the extent of the flow of released dissolved organic carbon (RDOC) from phytoplankton to heterotrophic bacteria. The second aim was to test Nalewajko and Schindler's (1976) hypothesis that the percentage of extracellular release (PER) of RDOC by phytoplankton is higher in oligotrophic than eutrophic waters. The studies on the relationship between the bacterial assimilation of RDOC and productivity of phytoplankton in the lakes of different trophy have shown a direct correlation. It was observed that higher utilization rate of phytoplankton RDOC occurred in lakes with higher primary production. The inverse relationship between productivity of lakes, i.e. trophy of waters, and amount of RDOC or PER is closely dependent on the heterotrophic activity of bacteria in waters.  相似文献

2014年11月至2015年8月调查了西湖湖西沿岸带浮游藻类和不同基质(植物、石块和底泥)上着生藻类的群落结构及季节变化, 分析了着生丝状藻与浮游丝状藻的相互关系以及它们与环境因子的相关性, 探讨湖西生态修复过程中季节性暴发的丝状藻水华的原因。结果表明浮游藻类和植物、底泥、石头上着生藻类中均以硅藻门种类数(分别占52.5%、60.4%、86.7%和72.7%)最多, 蓝藻门(分别占10.1%、8.9%、6.7%和15.2%)和绿藻门(分别占26.3%、19.8%、5.6%和10.6%)次之, 其他门类相对较少, 浮游藻类与着生藻类优势种季节差异较大。附植丝状藻密度显著高于附泥和附石丝状藻, 且狐尾藻上着生丝状藻密度与浮游丝状藻密度呈显著正相关, 表明狐尾藻着生丝状藻可能是浮游丝状藻较重要的来源之一, 该结果可为西湖丝状藻水华的控制提供一些参考。相关性分析表明, 着生藻类和丝状藻与各理化因子(水深、透明度、溶解氧、水温、pH、TN、SRP、TP等)均无显著相关性。  相似文献

为了更好地了解人类活动干扰下,河流水质和浮游植物群落结构的变化情况以及河流生态系统的演变过程,于2019年6月对贵州境内3种不同营养类型的河流(锦江河、湘江河和南明河)进行调查。研究了3条河流的理化因子、浮游植物种类组成及密度,结合冗余分析(RDA)研究了它们之间的关系,并应用聚类分析法研究3条河流浮游植物的空间分布特征。结果表明:水体富营养化程度排序为南明河>湘江河>锦江河,3条河流的综合营养指数分别为61.76、48.76和36.05。锦江河共有浮游植物6门19属21种,其中硅藻门种类最多,占总种数的57.14%;湘江河共有浮游植物6门34属43种,其中硅藻门和绿藻门种类最多,分别占总种数的41.86%和37.21%;南明河共有浮游植物6门32属46种,其中硅藻门和绿藻门种类最多,分别占总种数的39.13%和32.61%,锦江河、湘江河、南明河水体中浮游植物细胞数的平均值分别为12.66×105、38.66×105、132.61×105个/L。浮游植物细胞密度与溶解氧呈显著正相关(P<0.05),浮游植物细胞密度与电导率、溶解性总固体、盐度、总氮、总磷、氨氮、硝酸盐氮也呈显著正相关(P<0.01)。锦江河的电导率、盐度、溶解性总固体和营养盐含量最低,南明河的最高。此外,聚类分析显示3条河流的浮游植物群落按结构特征可分为两大类。这表明,随着人类活动的加强,河流的电导率、盐度、溶解性总固体、营养盐含量升高,浮游植物的细胞密度增加,其群落结构会由硅藻门占优势,逐渐转变为蓝藻门占优势。  相似文献

吸收特性是水体重要的光学特性,也是建立水色反演分析模型的基本参数.本文利用2011年6、9、10月在二龙湖和2012年10月在东辽河的实测数据,通过测定水体营养水平和颗粒物、有色可溶性有机物(CDOM)等光学活性物质的吸收系数,分析了东辽河河湖的光学物质吸收特性和季节变化.结果表明: 二龙湖水体9月处于富营养状态,6月营养水平较低,10月则处于中营养水平;东辽河随采样点位置的差异呈现不同程度的富营养化.水体各组分的吸收系数均随营养水平的增加而逐渐增大.6、10月二龙湖水体总悬浮颗粒物吸收光谱与非色素颗粒物吸收光谱相似,在总吸收中占主导作用的是CDOM;9月总悬浮颗粒物吸收光谱则与浮游植物吸收光谱类似,浮游植物的吸收对总吸收的贡献率最大.6、9月二龙湖浮游植物吸收系数[aph(440)]与总磷(TP)呈正相关,6月二龙湖aph(440)与溶解有机碳(DOC)呈正相关,非藻类颗粒物吸收系数[ad(440)]仅与叶绿素a浓度(Chl a)具有相关性.二龙湖(9月)与东辽河aph(675)均与Chl a、卡尔森指数(TLI)相关性较好.东辽河流域的河湖水体光学特性存在比较明显的差异:东辽河水体的浮游植物吸收光谱曲线展现出了两种不同类型,浮游植物、非藻类颗粒物、CDOM的贡献率随采样点的不同而相差较大;营养水平较高的9月二龙湖与东辽河水体浮游植物主导了水体光谱吸收,而在二龙湖营养水平较低的月份中(6、10月),颗粒物与CDOM共同主导水体光谱吸收;6月二龙湖与10月东辽河水体CDOM的组成为大分子颗粒物,而9与10月其组成更趋向于小分子颗粒物.  相似文献

1. The relationship between phytoplankton composition and physical–chemical variables was studied in six temperate lakes, characterizing the phytoplankton taxonomically or by a rarely used morphological–functional approach (m/f approach) developed by Reynolds (1997) . This approach divides phytoplankton into three groups (C-, S- and R-strategists) by morphological characters thought to be related to light and nutrient acquisition. 2. The lakes ranged from oligotrophic to moderately eutrophic and exhibited both polymictic and dimictic patterns of mixing. Across the trophic gradient total phytoplankton biomass ranged from 0.3 to 4.8 mg (wet weight) L–1 and total phosphorus (TP) from 0.19 to 1.07 μm . 3. The taxonomic groups predominantly represented were cyanobacteria, diatoms, dinoflagellates, chrysophytes and chlorophytes. The m/f group that was dominant (> 50% of total biomass) in five of the six lakes was composed of S-strategists. In four of the six lakes the second most abundant group comprised R-strategists. In only one lake was biomass dominated by C-strategists. 4. Within-lake seasonal variations in taxonomic and m/f groups were not predicted well from physical or chemical variables. This lack of predictability is probably caused, in part, by the problem of rapid seasonal variation in environmental conditions as compared to the replacement time of phytoplankton. Considering the data as a whole, however, several physical and chemical variables were significantly related to taxonomic and m/f groups. Some correlations agreed with expectations from the literature and some did not. 5. For taxonomic groups, as expected, cyanobacteria were positively associated with temperature, pH and TP and negatively with light and NO3 : TP ratios. Chrysophytes were negatively related to temperature, pH, soluble reactive phosphorus and TP. No other division showed a substantial correspondence to literature expectations. 6. For m/f groups: R-strategists were correlated with high dissolved nutrients (both N and P) and low light; S-strategists were correlated with low dissolved N. C-strategists were generally in low abundance in the study lakes, as might be expected from the generally low nutrients in the six lakes. Opposite to expectations, however, their abundance in the study lakes was negatively correlated to dissolved P. 7. Despite a lack of complete predictive ability, the m/f approach performed better than the taxonomic approach. This suggests that size and shape of phytoplankton may predict their response to physical and chemical conditions better than taxonomy at the division level.  相似文献

Year-round changes of phytoplankton, organic and inorganic seston, and dissolved and suspended concentrations of Ca, Mg, Na, K, Fe, Mn, Zn, and Cu were studied and correlated in Long Lake, an ultra-oligotrophic alpine flowage lake of northcentral Colorado, U.S.A. Dissolved cation levels for Ca, Mg, Na, K, Mn, and Fe, both sestonic fractions and phytoplankton densities reached and sustained a maximum during April and May under heavy cover of ice and snow, and a minimum during open-season from mid-June to mid-October. Rates of monthly water renewal varied greatly with a low of 0.28 turnovers in April and a high of 15.37 turnovers in June. Massive flushing in June and July reduced dissolved Fe levels to <0.060 mg/l from a typical maxima >8.0 mg/l in April and May. Tests for linear correlation between the various cations, sestonic fractions and phytoplankton showed in most cases positive and significant (p <.05) relationships. For most dissolved Fe and Mn pairings with phytoplankton and seston exceptionally significant (p < 0.001) relationships were observed.  相似文献

Summary A comparative account of the plankton ecology of five fish tanks in Delhi is given.Variations in the physical and chemical characteristics of water such as temperature, turbidity, total residue, pH, free carbon dioxide, carbonate alkalinity, total alkalinity, total hardness, chlorides, dissolved oxygen, oxygen consumed, phosphates, nitrates, silicates and sulphates observed for a period of one year are described. Chemical characteristics of water vary to a great extent in the five tanks. The dry summer and the monsoon rains considerably influence the physical and chemical conditions of water.The quantitative variations in the phytoplankton populations are presented. Compared to temperate waters, the tanks in Delhi show a richer variety of organisms. The largest number of genera is noted among the green algae. Desmids are poorly represented in all the tanks. The phytoplankton populations show a regular winter maximum which is caused by diatoms.Observations on the quantitative variations in the major groups of zooplankton are presented. Zooplankton population is represented by many genera. The dominant group among the zooplankton is the Rotifera which shows a summer maximum.There is no significant correlation between the phytoplankton and the zooplankton.Part of the thesis approved for the Ph. We analyzed relations among phytoplankton and total bacterioplankton fractions in three lentic ecosystems (Neusa and Prado dams, and Fúquene lagoon) with different physicochemical characteristics, in the Andes of Colombia. Samplings were made in three sites of each water body during three surveys. Neusa dam (meso to oligotrophic) had the lowest bacterial concentration; Prado dam (eutrophic) had a high bacterial and algal abundance, and the Fúquene lagoon (mesotrophic) had lower concentrations of phytoplankton but a high relative concentration of bacteria, probably because of its particular conditions: high organic matter and low nutrient levels in the water. There was a negative correlation of total bacterioplankton with the phytoplankton (Pearson = -0.4479, p = 0.019, n=27) and a positive correlation between phytoplankton and heterotrophic bacteria (Pearson = 0.3866, p = 0.062, n=24) and between total bacterioplankton and DBOs (Pearson = 0.4088, p = 0.034, n=27). Apparently, total bacterioplankton and phytoplankton were not coupling, but cultivable bacteria and the phytoplankton had some degree of relationship.  相似文献

太湖浮游细菌与春末浮游藻类群落结构演替的相关分析

为研究浮游细菌与浮游藻类群落演替的相关性,2005年4月至6月在太湖5个观测点采集浮游细菌及浮游藻类样本。分别采用聚合酶链式反应-变性梯度凝胶电泳(PCR—DGGE)和显微观察的方法分析浮游细菌及浮游藻类群落组成。结果表明,春末夏初,浮游细菌与藻类均呈现较高的多样性,浮游细菌DGGE图谱具有43种不同条带,浮游藻类的常见种有29种。浮游细菌群落聚类分析显示,丝藻(Ulothrix sp.)和微囊藻(Microcystis spp.)占优势时,浮游细菌群落基因组成存在明显差异。以藻类种群Shannon—Wiener多样性指数(Hp),浮游藻类总细胞数(N)以及Microcystis spp.(M)百分含量为变量,典型对应分析(CCA)结果显示浮游细菌与浮游藻类群落结构变化的相关系数为30.9%,表明春末夏初太湖浮游细菌与浮游藻类群落演替具有较高的相关性。  相似文献

为了解灞河城市段浮游生物群落结构及其与环境因子之间的关系,于2016年9月至2017年7月每2个月进行一次采样分析。调查期间共鉴定出浮游植物7门63属,其中绿藻门种类数最多(34.9%),其次为硅藻门(30.2%);浮游动物4类45种,以轮虫(48.9%)和原生动物(24.4%)为主。浮游植物和浮游动物的丰度分别为0.73×10~4—98.5×10~4个/L和20—1084个/L,在时空分布上均呈现下游高于上游的趋势,峰值均出现在夏季。根据水体透明度、溶解氧、总磷、总氮、高锰酸盐指数和重金属等理化指标、浮游生物丰度、Shannon-Wiener多样性指数和Margalef丰富度指数对灞河城市段水质状况进行综合评价,结果显示,所研究流域总体为中污状态,上游景观河道内的水生植物对水体具有一定的修复能力。典范对应分析表明,水温、总氮、pH、溶解氧和汞是浮游植物群落分布的主要影响因子;影响浮游动物群落分布的主要因子为水温、总氮、总磷、叶绿素a和汞。  相似文献
