Mark‐release‐recapture experiments with Aedes aegypti were performed using experimental huts equipped with entrance and exit traps to evaluate their movement patterns during a two‐year period in Thailand. Results indicate no significant differences in the patterns of movement between the two years of observation. Movement into the huts occurred during the early morning period (06:00‐11:00) with a peak at 07:00 in the summer and rainy season and 09:00 in the winter. In contrast, the exit pattern was observed during the late morning (09:00‐12:00) and early afternoon (12:00‐16:00), with a peak at 16:00 in the winter, 11:00 in the summer, and 14:00 in the rainy season. Multiple regression analysis indicated that movements of Ae. aegypti females into and out of the huts were impacted by humidity and temperature during the day.  相似文献

Three groups of schoolgirls 8, 9, and 10 years of age, respectively, self assessed sleep onset/offset and duration, as well as oral temperature and a set of cognitive measures, at school at 09:00, 11:00, 14:00, and 16:00 h on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (and/or Saturday) for 2 consecutive weeks (spring 1987 and 1989). The scores of a letter cancellation test exhibited neither daily nor weekly temporal variation at the age of 8 years [analysis of variance (ANOVA), p > 0.05]. In contrast, in the 10-year-olds, changes as a function of both time of day (peak time 14:00–16:00 h) and day of week (peak day Tuesday-Friday) were substantiated. Moreover, the time of best performance on the letter cancellation test varied systematically according to the day of the week (ANOVA, p = 0.000). Day of the week changes in the observed duration of sleep, self-rated fatigue, drowsiness, and attention changes were not detected in any of the age groups. It is hypothesized that temporal performance variations in the girls during the 7-day period was age related.  相似文献

Aims: To determine the spatial and temporal variability in the abundance, structure and composition of planktonic bacterial assemblages sampled from a small, looped water distribution system and to interpret results with respect to hydraulic conditions. Methods and Results: Water samples were collected from five sampling points, twice a day at 06:00 h and 09:00 h on a Monday (following low weekend demand) and a Wednesday (higher midweek demand). All samples were fully compliant with current regulated parameter standards. This study did not show obvious changes in bacterial abundance (DAPI count) or community structure Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis analysis with respect to sample site and hence to water age; however, the study did show temporal variability with respect to both sampling day and sample times. Conclusions: Data suggests that variations in the bacterial assemblages may be associated with the local system hydraulics: the bacterial composition and numbers, over short durations, are governed by the interaction of the bulk water and the biofilm influenced by the hydraulic conditions. Significance and Impact of the Study: This study demonstrates general stability in bacterial abundance, community structure and composition within the system studied. Trends and patterns supporting the transfer of idealized understanding to the real world were evident. Ultimately, such work will help to safeguard potable water quality, fundamental to public health.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This study explored the periodic changes in the onset of aortic dissection in a single center in northern China, with the goal to improve predictability and prevention. We collected the clinical data of 1121 patients from Hebei Province treated for acute aortic dissection at Fuwai Hospital between January 2010 and December 2016. The patterns of aortic dissection during different periods of each day, each month, and each quarter of a year were analyzed. Variations in the number of cases were summarized for weekdays, weekends, and different periods of a day in each season. We compared the differences in gender, age, body mass index, Marfan syndrome, hypertension, and the type of aortic dissection during different time periods and different seasons. In the study, 774 patients (69.1%) with type A aortic dissection and 347 patients (30.9%) with type B aortic dissection were included. The average age of 1121 patients was 51.4 ± 12.0 years. Overall, the peak period for the onset of aortic dissection in a day was between 13:00 and 18:00. There was no statistically significant difference in the number of cases between weekdays and weekend (P = 0.94). Most cases occurred in winter (30.9%); the rate of onset was the lowest in summer (16.6%). No statistically significant difference was observed between male and female patients in terms of variations during different periods of a day (P = 0.45) and seasons (P = 0.12). In conclusion, aortic dissection displayed circadian and seasonal patterns in northern China. Onset of the disease peaked between 13:00 and 18:00 in a day. Winter was the peak season for the onset of acute aortic dissection, regardless of sex, type of dissection and age.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate patterns of sleepiness, comparing working and non-working students. The study was conducted on high school students attending evening classes (19:00-22:30 h) at a public school in S?o Paulo, Brazil. The study group consisted of working (n=51) and non-working (n=41) students, aged 14-21 yrs. The students answered a questionnaire about working and living conditions and reported health symptoms and diseases. For seven consecutive days, actigraphy measurements were recorded, and the students also filled in a sleep diary. Sleepiness ratings were given six times per day, including upon waking and at bedtime, using the Karolinska Sleepiness Scale. Statistical analyses included three-way ANOVA and t-test. The mean sleep duration during weekdays was shorter among workers (7.2 h) than non-workers (8.8 h) (t=4.34; p<.01). The mean duration of night awakenings was longer among workers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (28.2 min) and shorter on Mondays (24.2 min) (t=2.57; p=.03). Among workers, mean napping duration was longer on Mondays and Tuesdays (89.9 min) (t=2.27; p=.03) but shorter on Fridays and Sundays (31.4 min) (t=3.13; p=.03). Sleep efficiency was lower on Fridays among non-workers. Working students were moderately sleepier than non-workers during the week and also during class on specific days: Mondays (13:00-15:00 h), Wednesdays (19:00-22:00 h), and Fridays (22:00-00:59 h). The study found that daytime sleepiness of workers is moderately higher in the evening. This might be due to a work effect, reducing the available time for sleep and shortening the sleep duration. Sleepiness and shorter sleep duration can have a negative impact on the quality of life and school development of high school students.  相似文献

As measured by radioreceptor assays, binding sites for FSH and prolactin were present at 09:00 h on the day of pro-oestrus in Stage 1-10 follicles (primary to antral) with prolactin receptors 3-6 times higher than FSH sites in Stages 1-3 (3 layers of granulosa cells). Specific binding sites for hCG were present in Stage 1 and 2 follicles (2 layers of granulosa cells) but thereafter their distribution was erratic and they were not consistently detectable until Stage 5, when thecal cells first appeared. Using topical autoradiography, specific binding for FSH was evident in Stage 1-4 follicles (4 layers granulosa cells) whereas specific hCG-binding was not. After the preovulatory gonadotrophin surges, by 21:00 h on pro-oestrus, FSH receptors declined in Stages 5-10, prolactin receptors fell in Stages 8 and 10 (small and large antral follicles) and hCG receptors were reduced in Stages 7 (start of antral cavity) to 10. On the morning of oestrus, for follicles from Stage 4 onwards, receptor numbers usually returned to levels found at 09:00 h on pro-oestrus. At oestrus, the few remaining Stage 10 follicles were all atretic and contained significantly reduced FSH and prolactin receptors but numbers of hCG binding sites comparable to those at 09:00 h of pro-oestrus. These results provide evidence of gonadotrophin receptors in small primary and secondary follicles which is consistent with increased DNA synthesis in small hamster follicles on the afternoon of pro-oestrus and on the morning and afternoon of oestrus. Periovulatory changes in gonadotrophin concentrations may therefore affect early stages of folliculogenesis.  相似文献

Wildlife-related accidents are a serious problem in different countries and describing their temporal pattern allows for the development of measures to mitigate them. We described the temporal pattern of wild ungulate-related accidents occurring between January 2006 and December 2010 in the Autonomous Region of Galicia, northwest of Spain. We examined the temporal distribution of the accidents according to months, phenological and hunting seasons, days of the week and time of the day. From the 6,255 wild ungulate-related traffic accidents analysed, 36.5% were related to roe deer Capreolus capreolus and 62.8% were related to wild boar Sus scrofa. The monthly distribution of accidents was not random but follows a characteristic pattern for each species. Roe deer-related accidents have their maximum in April and May, coinciding with the breeding season, followed by July, coinciding with the rut. Wild boar-related accidents have their maximum between October and January, coinciding with the hunting season but also with months with the longest nights. Both roe deer- and wild boar-related accidents showed an increase at weekends, specially on Sundays. During the hunting season, the wild boar-related accidents showed a marked peak on the same day. This weekly pattern was explained by drivers’ behaviour and by hunting. For roe deer, peaks of accidents occurred between 19:00 and 22:00 (about dusk) and between 05:00 and 08:00 (about dawn). For wild boar, 69% of accidents occurred between 18:00 and 23:00, coinciding with dusk and night. This daily pattern of accidents was explained by the behaviour of the species.  相似文献

Osmotic minipumps containing 400 micrograms ovine LH were inserted subcutaneously (sc) on day 1 (estrus) at 09:00-10:00h of the cycle in the hamster. This treatment induced increased ovarian blood flow by day 3 and superovulation of 30.0 +/- 1.4 ova at the next estrus compared to controls (16.5 +/- 0.8 ova). The continuous infusion of LH throughout the cycle increased prostaglandin F (PGF) and decreased prostaglandin E (PGE) in the growing follicles destined to ovulate and suppressed a day 3 increase in PGF concentrations in the nonluteal ovarian remnant devoid of the larger follicles. Indomethacin, a cyclooxygenase inhibitor, given sc (2 or 4 mg regimens) at 12:00-14:00h on days 1 and 2, at 09:00h and 17:00h on day 3 and at 09:00h on day 4 of the cycle to LH-infused and saline treated animals suppressed ovarian prostaglandin levels, prevented the superovulation and prevented the increased ovarian blood flow. Exogenous PGF2 alpha or PGE2 restored the superovulatory effect of LH infusion in the presence of indomethacin. The results suggest that the superovulation in response to continuous LH infusion may be mediated in part by prostaglandins via altered ovarian blood flow.  相似文献

Five field experiments were conducted in 1998 and 1999 in Minnesota to examine the influence of time of day efficacy of glyphosate [N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine] and glufosinate [2-amino-4-(hydroxymethyl-phosphinyl)butanoic acid] applications on the control of annual weeds. Each experiment was designed to be a randomized complete block with four replications using plot sizes of 3×9 m. Glyphosate and glufosinate were applied at rates of 0.421 kg ae/ha and 0.292 kg ai/ha, respectively, with and without an additional adjuvant that consisted of 20% nonionic surfactant and 80% ammonium sulfate. All treatments were applied with water at 94 L/ha. Times of day for the application of herbicide were 06:00h, 09:00h, 12:00h, 15:00h, 18:00h, 21:00h, and 24:00h. Efficacy was evaluated 14 d after application by visual ratings. At 14 d, a circadian response to each herbicide was found, with greatest annual weed control observed with an application occurring between 09:00h and 18:00h and significantly less weed control observed with an application at 06:00h, 21:00h, or 24:00h. The addition of an adjuvant to both herbicides increased overall efficacy, but did not overcome the rhythmic time of day effect. Results of the multiple regression analysis showed that after environmental temperature, time of day was the second most important predictor of percent weed kill. Thus, circadian timing of herbicide application significantly influenced weed control with both glyphosate and glufosinate.  相似文献

An antiserum to rat neutrophils was raised and used to follow the distribution of endometrial neutrophils during the peri-implantation period. Uteri from four pregnant and four pseudopregnant rats killed at 14:00, 17:00, 20:30 and 23:00 h on day 5 of pregnancy and 09:00 h on day 6 were sectioned. Four sections from each of four implantation sites and four intersites from each rat were immunostained. There was wide variability among rats in the number of endometrial neutrophils, but a nested analysis of variance showed significantly fewer neutrophils at implantation sites than at intersites from 20:30 h onwards. This difference was primarily due to the presence of more neutrophils in intersite regions of the endometrium. The results from this study do not support a role for neutrophils in the implantation-associated increase in microvascular permeability or decidualization in rats.  相似文献

目的:了解乌鲁木齐市院前急救老年患者疾病谱变化,提高老年人救治效率。方法:回顾性收集2014 年1 月1 日-2015 年 12 月31 日乌鲁木齐市120院前急救调度指挥中心数据库中40823 例老年(≥ 60 岁)患者病例信息,并进行疾病谱分析。结果: 40823 例老年患者中男性22284 例,女性18539 例,平均年龄(75.25 8.49)岁;其中汉族35018 例,维吾尔族3608 例,回族1698 例,其他民族499 例。院前急救老年患者疾病谱以心脑血管疾病、呼吸系统疾病、损伤、消化系统疾病、神经系统疾病为主,且心脑 血管疾病接诊率最高。院前急救老年患者接诊高峰月份为每年3-5 月,9-10 月,12-1 月;呼叫高峰时段为每日8:00-12:00,其次为 每日12:00-16:00;高发区域集中在新市区与沙依巴克区。结论:随着院前急救老年患者接诊数量的增多,应加强院前医护人员的 相关培训。根据院前急救老年患者的高发地区、月份及时段,合理配置院前急救资源。  相似文献

The outputs of prostaglandin (PG) E-2 and 6-oxo-PGF-1 alpha from the early pregnant rat uterus superfused in vitro were significantly higher (P less than 0.05) on Day 4 (09:00-10:00 h) and Day 5 (14:00-15:00 h) than on Day 2 (09:00-10:00 h) and Day 5 (14:00-15:00 h). PGF-2 alpha output was significantly higher (P less than 0.05) only on Day 5 (09:00-10:00 h). PGE-2 was the major PG released at all times, although the amounts of PGF-2 alpha and/or 6-oxo-PGF-1 alpha released were often only slightly less. These findings are consistent with uterine PGs having a role in implantation in the rat. A23187 stimulated 6-oxo-PGF-1 alpha output and, except on Day 4 (09:00-10:00 h), PGF-2 alpha output at all times studied. A23187 had little effect on PGE-2 output. The greatest stimulatory effect of A23187 on 6-oxo-PGF-1 alpha and PGF-2 alpha outputs occurred on Day 5 (09:00-10:00 h), which is the day of highest uterine PGH-2 synthetase activity. These increases in response to A23187 were prevented by trifluoperazine (100 microM), a calmodulin antagonist. Trifluoperazine had no inhibitory effect on the high basal output of PGs on Day 5 (09:00-10:00 h), but caused a small increase in uterine PG output.  相似文献

Time-dependent changes in elbow flexion torque have been documented according to two different sampling schedules. Seven physical education students took part in the first series of experiments, and 7 other similar subjects in the second. In both sets of experiments, the subjects performed isometric contractions: maximal and submaximal at 90° in the first experiments and maximal at different angular positions in the second. After a 30-minute rest period, the torque developed was measured at 00:00, 06:00, 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00, and 21:00h on the day of the experiment. These subjects remained in the laboratory for 24h. In the second series of experiments, the torque developed was measured at 01:00, 05:00, 09:00, 13:00, 17:00, and 21:00h over the subsequent 6 days with only one test session per day. In this case, there was an interval of 20h between two successive test sessions. In the first experiment, a significant time-of-day effect was observed for the torque of the elbow flexors under isometric conditions with an acrophase at 17:58h. The 24h normalized mean score was 92.85% with an amplitude of 7.63% of the daily mean. In the second series of experiments, there was evidence of a circadian rhythm in the torque developed by the elbow flexors at every angle position, especially at 90°, the angle investigated in the first set of experiments. The peak torque was calculated to have occurred at 17:55h. The amplitude of the rhythm was equal to 6.99% of the daily mean. There were no statistically significant differences in the characteristics of the circadian rhythm observed between the two experimental designs. We concluded that an experiment extending over several days could be employed to evaluate circadian rhythms in muscular activity reliably. The circadian variation of carrageenan (carr)-induced paw edema was studied in sham-operated and adrenalectomized rats. The edema was produced by carr injection into the plantar tissue at 03:00, 09:00, 15:00 and 20:00 hr. In sham-operated rats the rate of appearance of maximal edema was much faster in the evening than in the morning: at 20:00 hr, it was obtained 2 hours after carr injection while at 09:00 hr it took 4 hours. At 03:00 and 15:00 hr, maximal edema was found respectively 2.5 and 4 hours after carr. In adrenalectomized rats, maximal edema at 4 hours of investigation was always larger than in sham-operated animals but the rate of appearance of edema did not change throughout the day as it was obtained 3 hours after carr administration. At 09:00 and 20:00 hr injection of hydrocortisone (HC) to adrenalectomized rats produce the same dose-dependent effect on the rate of formation of edema. However, to reproduce in adrenalectomized animals the rates of formation of edema similar to those obtained in sham-operated rats, an injection of 18 mg/kg HC was required at 09:00 hr while less than 2 mg/kg was needed at 20:00 hr. The results suggest that the circadian rhythm of carr edema is related to circadian variation in the corticosteroid system.  相似文献

The affinity and the density of peripheral-type benzodiazepine binding sites (PBzS) in tissues from the genital organs of female rats were studied during the oestrous cycle. When comparing PBzS density on the day of oestrus to PBzS density on the day of pro-oestrus, a significant increase was observed in the ovary (1.9-fold), oviduct (2.4-fold) and uterus (1.7-fold), but not in the kidney. Serum oestradiol also increased to a maximum on the day of pro-oestrus. The ovarian and uterine PBzS density and serum concentrations of oestradiol and progesterone were measured every 8 h between the days of dioestrus and pro-oestrus. Ovarian and uterine PBzS density increased to a maximal value at 01:00 and 09:00 h, respectively, on the day of pro-oestrus. However, a significant increase in PBzS density occurred in the ovary (P less than 0.02) and uterus (P less than 0.001) at 09:00 h on the day of pro-oestrus as compared to 09:00 h on the day of dioestrus. These changes were associated with an increase in serum oestradiol and progesterone concentrations. The affinity of PBzS in all tissues examined remained unaltered during the oestrous cycle. This study demonstrates that changes associated with the oestrous cycle occur in the density of PBzS in various genital organs.  相似文献

Chemical communication by scent-marking behavior in New World primates is used to prevent the access of potential competitors to a territory, to identify food resources and the reproductive condition of mates, among others. In common marmosets, primates of the Callitrichidae family, this behavior also occurs as olfactory identification of an individual or of the reproductive status of females. Despite this information, the diurnal variation and gender differences in the profile of this behavior remain to be investigated. The aims of this study were to establish the diurnal profile of the distribution of this behavior and the influence of the sex of markers. We used 18 adult common marmosets, Callithrix jacchus, 10 males and 8 females from 6 family groups (6 fathers and 4 sons; 4 mothers and 4 daughters). The frequency of scent-marking behavior was recorded for each animal over a period of 8 days, twice a week, for 4 weeks, starting when the animals left the nest box (approximately at 05:00 a.m.) until the end of the photophase, at about 05:00 p.m. A MANOVA test was performed to compare the frequency of scent-marking behavior at 2 hour intervals using pooled data for males and females. The results showed that significantly higher levels of scent-marking behavior occurred during the 03:00–05:00 p.m. interval compared to all other intervals. Lower values were recorded during the 11:00–13:00 interval and an effect of the sex factor was also found, with the values being higher for females than for males, although a significant difference was recorded only for the 07:00–09:00 interval. Minimal values for males were recorded during the 07:00–09:00 interval, whereas minimum values for females were recorded during the 11:00–13:00 interval. However, the highest values for both sexes continued to occur during the 15:00–17:00 interval. These results suggest that scent marking behavior in common marmosets has a preferential incidence at the end of the day and this might be occurring in association with feeding behavior. At this time these animals usually forage more to prepare for the night's fast. Since these animals can discriminate chemical clues as long as 24 hours after they have been left, the higher incidence of this behavior at this time probably will assure that the animals will localize feeding resources used on the preceding day. Significant elevation of scent marking behavior in females in relation to males was found only at 07:00–09:00 interval and seems to be associated with signalizing of reproductive status, preferential access to foraging or both.  相似文献

AIMS: Atherosclerosis is a chronic disease that, from its origin to its ultimate complications, involves inflammatory cells, inflammatory proteins, and inflammatory responses from vascular cells. It has been demonstrated that cytokine activities are under neuroendocrine control, in part exerted by the pineal gland through the circadian secretion of its main product melatonin. Melatonin is mainly released during the night, but the precise relationship between melatonin and the light/dark rhythm of interleukin-6 in patients with acute myocardial infarction is still unclear. METHODS AND RESULTS: The study included 60 patients diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction and 60 healthy volunteers whose venous blood samples were collected at 09:00 h (light period) and 02:00 h (dark period). Our results demonstrate that interleukin-6 concentrations presented a light/dark pattern with mean serum concentrations being higher in the acute myocardial infarction group than in the control group (101.26 +/- 13.43 and 52.67 +/- 7.73 pg/ml at 02:00 h, 41.93 +/- 5.90 and 22.98 +/- 4.49 pg/ml at 09:00 h, respectively, p < 0.05). Differences in the day/night changes in melatonin levels in control subjects (48.19 +/- 7.82 at 02:00 h, 14.51+/- 2.36 at 09:00 h, pg/ml) and acute myocardial infarction patients (25.97 +/- 3.90 at 02:00 h, 12.29 +/- 4.01 at 09:00 h, pg/ml) (p < 0.05) were a result of a reduced nocturnal elevation of melatonin in the acute myocardial infarction group. CONCLUSIONS: The current findings suggest that the circadian secretion of melatonin may be responsible at least in part for light/dark variations of endogenous interleukin-6 production in patients with acute myocardial infarction. In this study, the melatonin seems to have an anti-inflammatory effect.  相似文献
