We studied the effects of wintertime undernutrition on the fatty acid composition of bone marrow triacylglycerols (TAGs) of legs in freely-ranging reindeer calves (<1 year) and adult hinds by comparing reindeer in poor condition slaughtered in February with reindeer in good condition slaughtered in October. Significant reductions were found in the proportions of the major monounsaturated fatty acid, or oleic acid, and in linoleic and alpha-linolenic acids in the femur TAGs of the undernourished reindeer as compared with the reindeer in good condition. As a result of these changes, the unsaturation index (UI) of the femur TAGs was reduced by 11% both in the calves and hinds. Similarly, there were also significant reductions in the proportions of oleic and linoleic acid in the metatarsal TAGs in the undernourished hinds, but only in linoleic acid in the calves. The UI of the metatarsal TAGs of the hinds was reduced by 7%, but that of the calves remained unchanged. The results suggest selective mobilization of oleic acid and the principal C18-polyunsaturated fatty acids from bone marrow TAGs in the undernourished reindeer during winter. These changes decrease the unsaturation degree of bone marrow fats, and, if advanced, may impair their fluidity and the functioning of the legs in the cold.  相似文献

We investigated the effects of stearic acid (saturated), oleic acid (monounsaturated), linoleic acid (n-6 polyunsaturated), and alpha-linolenic acid (n-3 polyunsaturated) on lipid metabolism in a hepatocyte-derived cell line, HepG2. HepG2 cells were cultured in medium supplemented with either stearic acid (0.1% w/v), oleic acid (0.1% v/v), linoleic acid (0.1% v/v), or alpha-linolenic acid (0.1% v/v). After 24 h, expression of lipid metabolism-associated genes was evaluated by real-time PCR. Alpha-linolenic acid showed a suppressive effect on the hepatic fatty acid de novo synthesis and fatty acid oxidation pathways, while linoleic acid also showed a tendency to suppress these pathways although the effect was weaker. Moreover, alpha-linolenic acid enhanced the expression of enzymes associated with reactive oxygen species (ROS) elimination. In contrast, oleic acid tended to promote fatty acid synthesis and oxidation. In conclusion, alpha-linolenic acid and linoleic acid may be expected to ameliorate hepatic steatosis by downregulating fatty acid de novo synthesis and fatty acid oxidation, and by upregulating ROS elimination enzymes. Oleic acid had no distinct effects for improving steatosis or oxidative stress.  相似文献

To study whether moderate under-nutrition causes muscle wasting, reindeer (Rangifer tarandus tarandus L.) calves were fed either pelleted reindeer feed ad libitum (n=8) or restricted amounts of lichens (n=8). The restricted amount was 60% of ad libitum intake of lichens, and the feeding period was 6 weeks preceded by a 2-week adjustment period. Biopsy samples from the middle gluteal muscle (M. gluteus medius) for the analysis of fibre composition and area, as well as for the activity of cathepsin B were taken before the restriction period in November and January, and after the restriction period in April. In all calves the muscle fibre composition remained unchanged during the winter. In the lichen group, the fibre size also remained unchanged, whereas in control calves the cross sectional area of type I and type IIA fibres increased significantly from November to April. Cathepsin B activity decreased in all calves from November to January and remained at that low level for the rest of the study period, which suggests an attenuated rate of protein degradation. These results can be taken as an indication that moderate under-nutrition causes no muscle wasting in reindeer calves, and the decreased availability of nitrogen is partially compensated for by adaptive decrease in protein degradation. Interestingly the adaptive changes in protein metabolism are equally well seen in the well-fed controls as in the undernourished lichen-fed reindeer.  相似文献

Effects on the linoleic acid metabolism in vivo of three dietary fats, rich in either oleic acid, trans fatty acids or alpha-linolenic acid, and all with the same linoleic acid content, were investigated in male Wistar rats. After 6 weeks of feeding, the rats were intubated with [1-14C]linoleic acid and [3H]oleic acid. The incorporation of these radiolabels into liver, heart and serum was investigated 2, 4, 8, 24 and 48 h after intubation. The amount of 14C-labelled arachidonic acid incorporated into the liver phospholipid of the group fed the oleic acid-rich diet was significantly higher than that of the other groups. However, compared to the trans fatty acids-containing diet, the oleic acid-rich diet induced only a slightly higher arachidonic acid level in the phospholipid fraction of the tissues as determined by GLC. Dietary alpha-linolenic acid more than halved the arachidonic acid levels. Our results do not support the hypothesis that the delta 6-desaturase system actually determines the polyunsaturated fatty acid levels in tissue lipids by regulating the amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids (e.g., arachidonic acid) synthesized. The biosynthesis of polyunsaturated fatty acids only is not sufficient to explain the complicated changes in fatty acid compositions as observed after feeding different dietary fats.  相似文献

The linoleic C18:2 (n-6) and linolenic C18:3 (n-3) are recognized as essential components of the diet. Free radical peroxidation of essential fatty acids (EFAs) present in lipoproteins produces oxidized low-density lipoproteins which play a critical role in the development of atherosclerosis. The accumulation of EFAs in the vascular wall and correlations between their content in the adipose tissue and atherosclerotic plaque have been confirmed. The present study was undertaken to determine the usefulness of a neural network for studying the exchange between tissues of linoleic, alpha-linolenic, and arachidonic acids-three fatty acids with a well-understood metabolism. Atheromatous plaques, adipose tissue, and serum were obtained from 31 patients who underwent surgery due to atherosclerotic stenosis of the abdominal aorta, iliac or femoral arteries. Fatty acids were extracted and separated as methyl esters using gas chromatography. Statistical analysis was done with STATISTICA neural networks package. Several correlations reported previously were corroborated and factors modifying the content of individual EFAs in adipose tissue and atherosclerotic plaque were revealed. Artificial neural networks (ANNs) were used to determine factors modifying the content of linoleic, alpha-linolenic, and arachidonic acids in human atheromatous plaques. The mechanism of exchange of some fatty acids between the adipose tissue, atheromatous plaque, and plasma is discussed. The results provide evidence for an effective mechanism of tissue uptake and turnover of linoleic acid. Reduced plasma levels of this acid are compensated by release from adipose tissue and atheromatous plaque. While alpha-linolenic acid is continuously taken up by the plaque, adipose tissue absorbs this acid to a certain level only. The dynamics of exchange of arachidonic acid between adipose tissue and atheromatous plaque reflects a minor role for adipose tissue in determining plaque content of this acid, suggesting that "de novo" synthesis is the chief source of arachidonic acid in plaques.  相似文献

This paper reports the results of our analysis of the impact high levels of de novo fatty acids have on the proportions of essential and non-essential fatty acids in human milk lipids. The data for seven fatty acids (linoleic, alpha-linolenic, arachidonic (AA), docosahexaenoic (DHA), palmitic, stearic and oleic) were derived from several studies conducted in Nigeria. The proportion by weight of each of these fatty acids was plotted versus the proportion of C10-14 fatty acids. As the proportion of C10-14 fatty acids increased from 15 to 65%, there was not a proportional decrease in the percentages of all seven fatty acids, but, instead, preferential incorporation of the essential fatty acids, AA and DHA into the triacylglycerol component of the milk. At the same time, the proportions of stearic and oleic acid declined by 69% and 86%, respectively. However, the proportions of linoleic acid, palmitic acid, DHA, AA and alpha-linolenic acid, in milk lipids decreased by only 44%, 40%, 39%, 28% and 2.3%, respectively. These observations indicate that as the contribution of C10-14 fatty acids increases, essential fatty acids are preferentially incorporated into milk triacylglycerols at the expense of oleic acid and stearic acid.  相似文献

Summary The output of first stage larvae of the neurotrophic nematode Elaphostrongylus rangiferi was studied both in a herd of reindeer in the field and in reindeer held in captivity. There was a marked seasonal cycle in the output of larvae from infected reindeer. This seasonal cycle is dependent on host sex. After an initial phase of logarithmic increase from the onset of patency in late winter/spring, the larval output declines to a minimum in summer in both female and male reindeer. From then onwards a yearly cycle is repeated with a maximum density of larvae in autumn/early winter from male reindeer, and in late winter/spring from female reindeer. E. rangiferi has an adult longevity of several years in the reindeer, and it is probable that the seasonal cycle of parasite output is linked to seasonal changes in the degree of host stress.  相似文献

Abstract A comparison was made of the content of total and some individual fatty acids in grains of nine barley varieties grown at six sites in Belgium. The varieties represented six- and two-rowed winter types and two-rowed spring types. The results showed that the winter types contain more linolenic acid (C18 : 3) than spring types and that six-rowed barleys have less total fatty acids than two-rowed barleys, due mainly to a low concentration of palmitic (C16:0), oleic (CI8 : 1) and linoleic (C18 : 2) acids. Analysis of variance showed that fatty acid content is affected by both the genotype and the environment and multiple regression analysis suggested that weather conditions before and after flowering affected lipid composition.  相似文献

The effect of dietary alpha-linolenic acid intake on linoleic acid metabolism and prostaglandin (PG) biosynthesis was investigated in two groups of six healthy females (25-32 yr). They were given isocaloric formula diets (FD) containing linoleic acid at a constant intake (4% of calories), with different amounts of alpha-linolenic acid: 0% (FD4/0), 4% (FD4/4), 8% (FD4/8) (group I) and 12% (FD4/12) or 16% (FD4/16) (group II); the diets were given for 2 weeks each. Comparing diet FD4/0 to FD4/16, enrichment of alpha-linolenic acid was greatest in cholesteryl esters (+6.8% in plasma, +7.1% in low density lipoproteins (LDL), +5.9% in high density lipoproteins (HDL)), less in phosphatidylcholine (+2.5% in plasma, +2.9% in LDL, +2.7% in HDL), and least in platelet lipids (+0.7%). The accumulation of alpha-linolenic acid was compensated by a decrease of oleic acid. Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), which was excluded from the diet, increased in all plasma lipids with augmented alpha-linolenic acid intake, indicating a chain elongation and desaturation of alpha-linolenic acid to EPA. However, even at the end of FD4/16, EPA was less than 2% of total fatty acids in all plasma lipids. Plasma linoleic acid levels were constant during all dietary regimes, according to the constant dietary intake of this fatty acid. No replacement of linoleic acid by alpha-linolenic acid could be observed. The percentage of arachidonic acid in all lipids was unaffected by alpha-linolenic acid intake. We examined serum fatty acid composition in reindeer during the close postnatal period (from <8 h to 3 weeks) by using maternal serum as a reference point and focusing on the proportions of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in serum lipids. A striking dissimilarity was found in the serum PUFAs between the neonatals and their mothers. In particular, the proportions of linoleic acid (18:2) and α-linolenic acid in serum cholesteryl esters and phospholipids of the newborn reindeer were significantly lower than those of the mothers. Furthermore, serum phospholipids of the newborns had lower arachidonic acid and docosapentaenoic acid but higher docosahexaenoic acid proportions than the maternal phospholipids. Although the proportions of the principal C18 PUFAs were low in reindeer milk, they increased sharply in serum cholesteryl esters and phospholipids of the calves during the first few days after birth. In particular, there were significant positive correlations in the proportions of 18:2 between serum and milk lipids. We conclude that the proportions of the serum C18 PUFAs are low in the newborn reindeer, but they are increased during the close perinatal period by a rate which suggests an efficient mechanism for selective retention of these fatty acids from milk lipids. The chemical and carbon isotope compositions of triacylglycerol fatty acids were analysed in samples from two or more adipose depots dissected from adult and subadult arctic foxes collected between November 1991 and March 1992 in four different areas of Spitsbergen in the Svalbard archipelago (latitude 78° 5' to 79° 50' N). Site-specific differences were minor but there were large and consistent differences in the fatty acid composition of the storage lipids of foxes caught in the same areas, suggesting that residents of contiguous territories may have had quite different diets. The adipose tissue of adult foxes caught in Austfjordneset, an area where reindeer are rare, contained a much greater proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, suggesting that these animals were feeding mainly in the marine ecosystem, probably on seabirds and/or fish in summer and the remains of polar bear kills in winter. Measurements of the relative abundance of the carbon isotopes 12C and 13C in individual fatty acids show that palmitoleic acid (C16:1) in storage triacylglycerols originates from the marine food chain, probably together with most other unsaturated lipids, but that the foxes obtain oleic acid (C18:1), and probably most saturated fatty acids, from either terrestrial or marine sources.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to compare effects of finishing environment on growth performance, pork quality and lipid composition of pork. Environments compared were standard confinement (CON) and deep-bedded semi-outdoor systems. The deep-bedded method employed in the current study was the use of hoop structures. Hoops are large, tent-like shelters with cornstalks or straw for bedding. Gilts ranging in weight from 59 to 71 kg were randomly assigned to treatments of Hoop (n = 50) and CON (n = 18) environments. Gilts were fed a two-phase dietary sequence, ad libitum for 45 days. Six gilts per treatment were selected for carcass composition and quality evaluation. The experiment was replicated a total of five times. Pigs raised in the Hoop environment gained significantly less and required significantly more feed for growth than pigs raised in the CON environment. Carcasses from CON-finished pigs were significantly fatter at the 10th rib, which lowered carcass percentage fat-free lean(FFL) and they also had greater loin marbling scores compared with carcasses from Hoop-finished pigs (P < 0.05). Significant replication effects were noted on beginning weight, live weight, carcass weight, percentage FFL, backfat, lipid content and adipose firmness. Carcasses from Hoop pigs had lower proportions of palmitic acid (P < 0.05), and higher proportions of oleic and linoleic acid (P < 0.05) in the inner layer of adipose tissue. The proportion of saturated fatty acid was lower, and that of mono- and poly-unsaturated fatty acid was higher in the inner layer of the adipose tissue of Hoop pigs. Variations in fatty acid composition and lipid deposition may have been caused by environmental temperature, since decreases in environmental temperature accompanied compositional variation of the adipose, leading to higher proportions of monounsaturated fatty acid and lower proportions of saturated and polyunsaturated fatty acid in adipose tissue, regardless of treatment. Volatile profile analysis revealed that adipose tissue of Hoop pigs had significantly higher amounts of 3-butanal and heptanal compared with CON pigs, which may be related to the amount of oleic and linoleic acids composing the adipose tissue. These data indicate finishing pigs in hoop structures allows for exposure to fluctuating temperatures, which may influence the growth of pigs, as well as fatty acid composition and firmness of pork products.  相似文献

In a previous study conducted in Nigeria, we found that children with sickle cell disease (SCD) had exceedingly low total serum cholesterol levels (mean=100-102mg/dl). The fact that significant reductions in the levels of certain polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) have been documented in the serum phospholipids of these same SCD subjects led us to inquire as to the fatty acid composition of the cholesteryl esters (CE) in their serum. Lecithin:cholesterol acyl transferase (LCAT), the enzyme in blood that catalyzes the reaction in which tissue cholesterol is acylated prior to its removal from cell membranes, is relatively specific for certain PUFA. CE in blood serum from 43 male and 42 female children with SCD, ages 4-18 years, and equal numbers of age- and gender-matched controls were analyzed for their fatty acid composition. Relative to the non-SCD controls, the CE of the SCD subjects contained 9% less linoleic acid, 16% less arachidonic acid, 40% less alpha-linolenic acid, 50% less eicosapentaenoic acid, and 36% less docosahexaenoic acid, but 15% more palmitic acid and 10% more oleic acid. Overall, the acyl chains of the CE of the SCD subjects were less fluid than those of the controls, as determined by comparison of their mean melting points (MMP) and double bond indices (DBI). MMP and DBI were both estimated from the individual constituent fatty acids comprising the CE acyl chains. The strongest correlations between MMP and fatty acid mole percent were seen with palmitic acid and linoleic acid. These results show that the fatty acid composition of the serum CE of children with SCD is abnormal relative to controls who do not have this hematologic disorder. We speculate that suboptimal fatty acid nutrition in Nigerian children with SCD compromises their ability to remove cholesterol from their tissues due to preference of the LCAT enzyme for PUFA, thereby accounting, in part at least, for the low total serum cholesterol levels one finds in children with SCD.  相似文献

Seasonal changes were observed in fatty acid composition of plasma, liver and cardiac muscle. During hibernation unsaturated fatty acids levels increase in plasma cholesterol esters (CE), glycerides (GL) and phospholipids. After spring arousal, the oleic acid content decreases in total fatty acids of liver and cardiac muscle. In summer fasting induces lipid changes similar to that occuring in natural hibernation. Desaturation observed in winter can be explained by the accumulation of unsaturated GL and CE in the tissues.  相似文献

The structure and fill of the omasum was investigated in summer and in winter in adult female reindeer living on the polar desert and tundra of the high Arctic archipelago of Svalbard and in sub-Arctic mountain habitats in northern Norway The mean total mass of the omasum in non-lactating adult female Svalbard reindeer was 467 g (0.65 g per 100 g live body mass (BM)) in September and 477 g (1.03 g per 100 g BM) in April. By contrast, the mean mass of the omasum in non-lactating adult reindeer in northern Norway was 534 g (0.83 g per 100 g BM) in September but only 205 g (0.35 g per 100 g BM p<0.05) in late March, owing to a decrease in both tissue mass and the wet mass of the contents of the organ. The mean absorptive surface of the omasum in Svalbard reindeer was 2300 cm2 in September and 2023 cm2 in April. In Norwegian reindeer, by contrast, the absorptive surface area decreased from 2201 cm2 in September to 1181 cm2 (p<0.05) in late March. The marked seasonal decline of omasal tissue and contents in Norwegian reindeer probably results from intake of highly digestible forage plants, including lichens, in winter. Svalbard reindeer, a non-migratory sub-species, survive eating poor quality fibrous vascular plants in winter. The absence of any marked seasonal change in the mass, total absorptive surface area or filling of the omasum in Svalbard reindeer in winter despite a substantial decline in body mass presumably reflects their need to maintain maximum absorption of nutrients, including volatile fatty acids, when feeding on such poorly fermentable forage.  相似文献

Diet and postnatal age effect the fatty acid composition of plasma and tissue lipids. This work was designed as a transversal study to evaluate the changes in the fatty acid composition of plasma phospholipids, cholesteryl esters, triglycerides and free fatty acids in preterm infants (28-35 weeks gestational age), fed human milk (HM) and milk formula (MF) from birth to 1 month of life. Sixteen blood samples were obtained from cord, and 19 at 6-8 h after birth, 14 at 1 week and 9 at 4 weeks from HM-fed infants and 18 at 1 week and 14 at 4 weeks from MF-fed ones. Groups had similar mean birth weight, gestational age and sex ratio. The MF provided 69 kcal/dl and contained 16% of linoleic acid and 1.3% of alpha-linolenic acid on the total fat. Plasma lipid fractions were extracted and separated by thin-layer chromatography and fatty acid methyl esters were quantitated by gas liquid chromatography. In plasma phospholipids, linoleic acid (18:2 omega 6) continuously increased from birth to 1 month of age, but no changes were seen as related to type of diet; polyunsaturated fatty acids greater than 18 carbon atoms of both the omega 6 and omega 3 series (PUFA omega 6 greater than 18 C and omega 3 greater than 18 C) dropped from birth to 1 week and continued to decrease in MF-fed infants until 1 month; eicosatrienoic (20:3 omega 6), arachidonic (20:4 omega 6) and docosahexaenoic (22:6 omega 3) were the fatty acids implicated. In cholesteryl esters palmitoleic (16:1 omega 7) and oleic (18:1 omega 9) acids decreased from birth to 1 month and linoleic acid increased and arachidonic acid dropped, especially in MF fed infants. In triglycerides, palmitic, palmitoleic and stearic acid (18:0) decreased during the first month of life; oleic acid remained constant and linoleic acid increased in all infants, but arachidonic acid decreased only in those fed formula. Free fatty acids showed a similar behavior in fatty acids and in plasma triglycerides. Preterm neonates seem to have special requirements of long-chain PUFA and adapted MF should contain these fatty acids in similar amounts to those of HM to allow the maintenance of an adequate tissue structure and physiology.  相似文献

The composition of fatty acids in human milk lipids was determined in 41 women on the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th days after labour by the method of gas chromatography. In these investigations no significant differences were demonstrated in the fatty acids in the lipid fractions between these consecutive days. The level of polyunsaturated fatty acids of the n-6 and n-3 groups was about 11.9-13.6%, including linoleic acid (18:2, n-6) about 7.7-9.8%, and alpha-linolenic acid (18:3, n-3) about 0.7-1%. In the analysis group of n-6 fatty acids the determined acids were: linoleic acid (18:2, n-6), gamma-linolenic acid (18:3, n-6), eicosadienoic acid (20:2, n-6), eicosatrienoic acid (20:3, n-6), arachidonic acid (20:4, n-6), docosahexaenoic acid (22:6, n-6). From the group of n-3 acids the identified ones were: alpha-linolenic acid (18:3, n-3), eicosapentaenoic acid (20:5, n-3), docosapentaenoic acid (22:5, n-3) and docosahexaenoic acid (22:6, n-3). The obtained quotients of fatty acids n-6 through n-3 on the consecutive days were: 7.2:1-7.8:1, indicating a too low level of the n-3 acids in the investigated milk. The acids prevailing in human milk lipids were: oleic (18:1, n-9) and palmitic (16:0) which accounted for 37-39% and 25-26% respectively. In free-living (FL) reindeer eating a natural mixed winter diet dominated by lichens, captive (CF) reindeer fed pure lichens ad libitum, and CF reindeer subsequently starved for 1 day (CS1 reindeer) or 4 days (CS4 reindeer), the dominant rumen anaerobic bacteria were characterized, their population densities were estimated, and ruminal pH and volatile fatty acid concentrations were determined. In the FL reindeer, the total median viable anaerobic bacterial population ranged from 18 x 10(8) to 35 x 10(8) cells per ml of rumen fluid (n = 4), compared with 26 x 10(8) to 34 x 10(8) and 0.09 x 10(8) to 0.1 x 10(8) cells per ml of rumen fluid in CF reindeer (n = 2) and CS4 reindeer (n = 2), respectively. The median bacterial population adhering to the rumen solids ranged from 260 x 10(8) to 450 x 10(8), 21 x 10(8) to 38 x 10(8), and 0.5 x 10(8) cells per g (wet weight) of rumen solids in FL, CF, and CS4 reindeer, respectively. Although there were variations in the rumen bacterial composition among the FL reindeer (n = 4), strains of Bacteroides, Fibrobacter, Streptococcus, and Clostridium dominated in the rumen fluid. Streptococcus spp. and Clostridium spp. were the dominant bacteria in the CF reindeer (n = 2), while in the CS4 reindeer (n = 2) the dominant bacteria were Fusobacterium spp., members of the family Enterobacteriaceae, and Eubacterium spp. Transmission electron micrographs of lichen particles from the rumen of one FL reindeer, one CF reindeer, and one CS4 reindeer show bacteria resembling Bacteroides spp. adhering to the lichen particles, evidently digesting the lichen hyphae from the inside.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Extraction, thin-layer chromatography and gas chromatography–mass spectrophotometry analyses revealed the presence of 12, 13, and 12 fatty acids in young, mature, and senescent leaves of Momordica charantia L., representing 87.30, 95.25, and 83.11 % of the total fatty acids, respectively. The proportion of saturated fatty acids was highest in senescent leaves (78.60 %) followed by young leaves (69.42 %) and mature leaves (48.92 %), with the balance accounted for by unsaturated fatty acids. Palmitic acid was the predominant saturated fatty acid in the three types of leaves, whereas alpha-linolenic acid was the predominant unsaturated fatty acid. The fatty acids from young, mature, and senescent leaves followed by the application of a synthetic mixture of fatty acids that was comparable to the natural fatty acids found in the three types of leaves, elicited the attraction of the female insect Epilachna dodecastigma (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) at 50–200, 50–200, and 100–200 μg/ml concentrations, respectively, in a Y-shaped glass tube olfactometer bioassay. Individual synthetic fatty acids were also evaluated by the olfactometer bioassay at concentrations comparable to the proportions detected in the three types of leaves. Individual synthetic palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and alpha-linolenic acid at 58.24, 13.96, 29.40, 30.31, and 29.76 μg, respectively, attracted the insect. A synthetic blend of 79.13, 10.57, 29.40, 30.31, and 36.33 μg of palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic, and alpha-linolenic acids, respectively, which is the proportion present in a 200 μg/ml concentration of fatty acids of mature leaves, or of 116.49, 13.96, and 29.76 μg of palmitic, stearic and alpha-linolenic acids, respectively, which is the proportion present in a 200 μg/ml concentration of natural fatty acids of young leaves, served as attractants for E. dodecastigma.  相似文献

Minimal Deviation Hepatoma 7288 C cells were cultured in confluent layer with labeled stearic, oleic, linoleic and alpha-linolenic acids. The kinetics of incorporation and conversion to higher homologs was studied. The maximum amounts incorporated in nmoles per mg of cellular protein for stearic, oleic, linoleic and alpha-linolenic acids were 39, 115.6, 90 and 230 respectively. alpha-linolenic acid was converted to octadeca-6,9,12,15-tetraenoic acid (18:1), eicosa-11,14,17-trienoic acid (20:3), eicosa-8,11,14,17 and 5,11,14,17-tetraenoic acids (20:4) and eicosa-5,8,11,14,17-pentaenoic acid (20:5), and also to myristic, palmitic, palmitoleic, stearic and oleic acids. By a mathematical approach, the endogenous pool size of alpha-linolenic acid available for conversion to eicosa-5,8,11,14,17-pentaenoic acid, were calculated. Both values decreased when the cells were preincubated with unlabeled alpha-linolenic acid.  相似文献
