Males of Lipara lucens Mg. living on stems of Common Reed (Phragmites communis Trin.) emit acoustical signals perceived at a distance by a female fly sitting on the same reed stem as vibration of the substrate. Virgin females respond to these signals by vibrating, which in turn elicits searching behaviour in the male fly. It is suggested that this behaviour reduces the time required to find a partner, because a reed stem needs only be visited briefly to ascertain whether a receptive female is present.
Résumé Les mâles de Lipara lucens Mg. vivant sur les tiges du Roseau commun (Phragmites communis Trin.) émettent des signaux acoustiques perçus à distance comme une vibration du support par une mouche femelle située sur la même tige de roseau. Les femelles vierges répondent à leur tour à ces signaux par une vibration qui provoque le comportement de découverte chez la mouche mâle. Il est suggéré que ce comportement réduit le temps de découverte du partenaire parce qu'une tige de roseau peut être visitée rapidement par le mâle pour s'assurer de la présence d'une femelle réceptive.

Prit fly females were flown on pins at a temperature of 25–28° in a headwind of 5 mph (2.2 m/sec.) Females flown once only, flew for the longest periods when they were about 4 days old. Individuals that flew every second day failed to fly after they were 2–3 weeks old. Tethered flight in early adult life shortened the preoviposition period. Egg production and life-time were not affected by a single flight.Females caught in suction traps in the field were dissected and classified according to ovary development. Very young females occurred in equal numbers at all heights, but those with fully developed eggs were more abundant at higher altitudes.
Zusammenfassung Weibchen der Fritfliege wurden mit dem Thoraxrücken an Nadelspitzen angeklebt und bei einer Temperatur von 25–28° mit einem Luftstrom von 2.2 m/sec angeblasen, so daß sie flogen. Die längsten Flüge wurden von 4 Tage alten Fliegen ausgeführt. Nach dieser Zeit nahm das Flugvermögen allmählich ab. Einzelne Weibchen konnten mehrere Flüge unternehmen, aber wenn sie an jedem zweiten Tag geflogen wurden, verloren sie nach 2–3 Wochen ihr Flugvermögen, obwohl sie noch 10–15 Tage lebten und Eier legten. Besonders bei sehr jungen Weibchen hatte das Fliegen eine Abkürzung der Praeovipositionsperiode zur Folge. Die Produktion von Eiern und die Lebensdauer wurden von einem einzigen solchen Flug nicht beeinflußt.Fritfliegen-Weibchen, die in verschiedenen Höhen in Saugfallen (suction traps) gefangen worden waren, wurden seziert, um Alter und Ovarentwicklung festzustellen. Sehr junge Weibchen kamen in allen Höhen in gleichem Verhältnis vor, während solche mit reifen Eiern in den höher aufgestellten Fallen häufiger waren.

中肠是昆虫消化、 吸收营养物质的主要部位。本研究通过形态解剖、 BrdU免疫组织化学和原位末端转移酶标记(TUNEL)细胞凋亡检测等技术, 对意大利蜜蜂Apis mellifera ligustica中肠胚后发育过程中细胞的增殖和凋亡模式进行了比较研究。结果表明:意大利蜜蜂幼虫发育早期, 中肠的增加主要来自于上皮细胞的分裂以及再生细胞的增殖。在变态发育期间, 中肠上皮经历了广泛的重组, 由再生细胞重新形成的蛹上皮替代了幼虫上皮。再生细胞在蜜蜂中肠的整个发育阶段始终存在, 为中肠的生长和更替提供了主要的细胞来源。本研究为昆虫组织细胞自噬和凋亡机制的研究提供一定的证据。  相似文献

The level of ecdysteroids in Sarcophaga bullata was determined by radioimmunoassay (RIA) from the time of larviposition (0 hr) until adult eclosion. Five distinct peaks of ecdysteroid activity were recorded. The first two, which occurred midway through the duration of the stadia (14 and 30 hr, respectively), resulted in larval/larval moults (24 and 44 hr). The third peak of ecdysteroid activity commenced at 131 hr and was associated with formation of the white prepuparium. The fourth peak was sustained over a long time period (from 79 hr post pupariation to 120 hr) and resulted in pupal/adult apolysis and the definition of the adult form. The last elevation of the ecdysteroid titre at approx. 160 hr post pupariation) was associated with the synthesis and secretion of adult cuticle.  相似文献

The level of ecdysone in Drosophila melanogaster was determined by a radioimmune assay in organisms selected between the second larval instar and maturity. Maxima in the titer of the hormone were observed at puparium formation and 38 hr later, just prior to the secretion of the adult cuticle. The level of ecdysone was very low in adults of either sex. However, adult females had significantly more ecdysone per organism than did males. The magnitude of this difference could be correlated with ovarian development, suggesting a possible role for ecdysone in ovarian maturation in this organism.  相似文献

Geographic variation in courtship vibratory signals inLipara lucens from 7 disjunctive European populations were examined. Simple female responding signals showed significant interlocal difference in the pulse-group intervals only in the English population. More differentiated male courtship signals were separated into anterior “preliminary vibration” and posterior “main vibration”. The latter, composed of a train of bursts, showed significant differences among populations in the number of pulses in a burst, burst duration (BD), burst interval (BI) and burst period (BP). Latvian, Hungarian and Bulgarian populations had more pulses in a burst than those of E. Germany, Belgium, Czechoslovakia and England. Latvian and Bulgarian populations showed significantly larger values of BD, whereas that of Belgium showed a significantly smaller value. BI in the English population had the smallest value, and those in the Latvian and Bulgarian populations had the longest values. No significant differences were observed in BD and BI between E. Germany, Czechoslovakia and Hungary. Multivariate statistic analyses on the time-amplitude variables of the male signals showed uniqueness in the Belgian, English, Latvian and Bulgarian populations. Genetic background of the geographic variations in the vibratory signals are discussed in this context.  相似文献

Pycnogonida (sea spiders) are bizarre marine arthropods that are nowadays most frequently considered as being the sister group to all other chelicerates. The majority of pycnogonid species develops via a protonymphon larva with only three pairs of limbs affiliated with the future head region. Deviating from this, the hatching stage of some representatives shows already an advanced degree of trunk differentiation. Using scanning electron microscopy, fluorescent nucleic staining, and bright-field stereomicroscopy, postembryonic development of Pseudopallene sp. (Callipallenidae), a pycnogonid with an advanced hatching stage, is described. Based on external morphology, six postembryonic stages plus a sub-adult stage are distinguished. The hatching larva is lecithotrophic and bears the chelifores as only functional appendage pair and unarticulated limb buds of walking leg pairs 1 and 2. Palpal and ovigeral larval limbs are absent. Differentiation of walking leg pairs 3 and 4 is sequential. Apart from the first pair, each walking leg goes through a characteristic sequence of three externally distinct stages with two intermittent molts (limb bud-seven podomeres-nine podomeres). First external signs of oviger development are detectable in postembryonic stage 3 bearing three articulated walking leg pairs. Following three more molts, the oviger has attained adult podomere composition. The advanced hatching stages of different callipallenids are compared and the inclusive term "walking leg-bearing larva" is suggested, as opposed to the behavior-based name "attaching larva". Data on temporal and structural patterns of walking leg differentiation in other pycnogonids are reviewed and discussed. To facilitate comparisons of walking leg differentiation patterns across many species, we propose a concise notation in matrix fashion. Due to deviating structural patterns of oviger differentiation in another callipallenid species as well as within other pycnogonid taxa, evolutionary conservation of characteristic stages of oviger development is not apparent even in closely related species.  相似文献

Scanning-electron-microscopic investigations of Haller's organ in larvae, nymphs I, II, III and IV, and male and female adultArgas (Persicargas) walkerae ticks showed that morphology and structural organization change during postembryonic development. Stage-dependent differences existed regarding setal numbers of the anterior pit as well as formation and reticulation of cuticular projections in the capsule cavity. The anterior pit increased in size in the course of postembryonic development. It contained only seven setae in larvae, one conical, setiform and grooved seta each as well as two porose and fine setae. Nymphs I, II, III and IV and adult ticks had equal numbers of setae; however, one additional unilaterally serrate and grooved seta each were present. Setal length increased continuously during postembryonic development and attained maximum values in adult ticks. The capsule consisted of roof and cavity and was located distinctly lateral in larvae, slightly lateral in nymphs I and II, and in all other stages directly on the longitudinal axis of tarsus. The capsule roof showed a reticular structure. The slit-like main aperture was located peripherally and arranged transversally to the longitudinal axis of tarsus I in larvae. Nymphs and adult ticks had a central, circular main aperture. Stage-dependent cuticular projections of varying form protruded into the capsule cavity. Larvae had only single, free-standing projections which ramified slightly and communicated with each other. Projections were more heavily reticulated in nymphs I and II. In nymphs III and IV as well as male and female adult ticks, a long centrally situated tube of reticular appearance was seen, which was supported by a large number of radially organized and interlocking pillars and communicated with the capsule roof. In all tick stages there were always four porose setae present, arranged on the capsule floor.  相似文献

【目的】对桉属树木的重要害虫桉树枝瘿姬小蜂Leptocybe invasa胚胎发育及胚后发育生物学特征进行详细调查,以期深入了解该害虫的生物学特征及发生为害规律。【方法】对桉树枝瘿姬小蜂雌性生殖系统、卵、虫瘿进行解剖,观察其胚胎发育和胚后发育过程,测量其各发育阶段的虫瘿、虫室和幼体的体积及薄壁细胞层的厚度。【结果】桉树枝瘿姬小蜂完成胚胎发育约需138 h,由3个阶段组成:产卵后0-24 h为营养物质聚集期;36-84 h为胚胎期;96-138 h为孵化期。桉树枝瘿姬小蜂在虫瘿内完成发育,其发育过程与虫瘿发育过程保持一致。虫瘿结构由3个基本层组成,由外至内分别为表皮层、中间层和薄壁细胞层。桉树枝瘿姬小蜂幼虫体积增长速率随发育时间呈现单峰型,在30 d时增长速率达到最大;虫瘿体积的增长速率呈抛物线状,并且虫瘿内薄壁细胞层厚度随发育时间也呈现抛物线状,其前期增长较快,后期下降变缓。【结论】桉树枝瘿姬小蜂发育至25 d时处于取食量较小的低龄阶段,而虫瘿内薄壁细胞层(食物)厚度已达到最大,为幼虫体积快速增大阶段作好准备。  相似文献

Neurons containing 2 types of myotropic neuropeptides were investigated by immunocytochemistry during postembryonic development of the brain and ventral nerve cord of the blowfly Calliphora vomitoria (Diptera : Calliphoridae). Antisera raised against the insect neuropeptides Callitachykinin II (CavTK II), Locustatachykinin I (LomTK I), and Leucokinin I (LK I) were used. Callitachykinin immunoreactive (CavTK–IR) neurons were detected from the 1st-instar larva throughout development to adult. The number of CavTK–IR cell bodies in the brain was 4–16 in larval stages, 10–84 in pupal stages, and over 140 neurons in the newly emerged fly. With the CavTK antiserum, the fibers of only 4 descending neurons were detected in thoracico–abdominal ganglia throughout development. The antiserum to LomTK displayed the same neurons as that to CavTK II as well as a small number of additional neurons. Notably, there were seen about 14–20 locustatachykinin-like immunoreactive (LomTK-LI) cell bodies in the thoracico–abdominal ganglia throughout development. Leucokinin-like immunoreactive (LK-LI) neurons were labeled throughout postembryonic development. In the brain, 2–4 LK-LI cell bodies were labeled from 1st-instar larva to 8-day-old pupa, and 6 LK-LI cell bodies were labeled in the adult brain. In the abdominal ganglia, 7 pairs of LK-LI cell bodies were labeled from 1st-instar larva to 96-h-old pupa, 8 pairs in 8-day-old pupa, and 9 pairs in newly emerged fly, respectively. The CavTK containing neurons in the brain displayed a drastic increase in numbers from larval stages to adult, which indicates an addition of functional roles for this type of peptide. During earlier pupal stages, the number of CavTK–IR neurons decreased. The LK-LI neurons, however, were strongly immunoreactive throughout postembryonic development. Only one additional pair of cells appeared in the brain and 2 additional pair of cells appeared in the abdominal ganglia of the adult as compared with larvae. The continuous high expression of LK-LI material may suggest a functional role for this type of peptide during development.  相似文献

The physiological content of Drosophila melanogaster tissues in cyclic AMP has been determined and its variations studied during postembryonic development and in the adults. Marked variations were observed, especially during metamorphosis where the ratio between the lowest and highest values (0·35 to 17·25 pmoles/mg protein) was 144. In larvae the variations of cyclic AMP level were not clearly related to the larval ecdyses, but the steps of metamorphosis, i.e. formation of the puparium, larval-pupal apolysis, and pupal-adult apolysis, were accompanied with rapid and drastic rises of cyclic AMP, up to the highest value mentioned. We therefore deduce that cyclic AMP is involved in the metamorphosis of D. melanogaster as a chemical signal. In adults, the cyclic AMP level was remarkably constant and was around 7 pmoles/mg protein.  相似文献

Gravid proglottids of Oochoristica anolis from naturally infected anole lizards, Anolis carolinensis, were placed in covered Petri dishes with laboratory-reared beetles, Tribolium confusum and Tenebrio molitor. After maintenance at 25 C, metacestodes developed in 29 of 61 T. confusum (48%), but in none of 5 T. molitor. Beetles contained from 1 to 22 metacestodes (means = 3.3), which were fully developed by day 40 postexposure. A primary lacuna was never observed, but the possibility of its presence could not be ruled out without histological study. No cercomer was formed and metacestodes retained larval hooks throughout development. Scolices were invaginated at removal from the hemocoel, but usually evaginated quickly in Ringer's. On day 60 postexposure, metacestodes were fed by stomach tube to 5 anoles, 2 lacertid lizards (Podarcis muralis) and 2 mice. Worms developed only in anoles, 3 of which were infected upon examination. Oncospheral hooks were present in worms after 7 days development in the lizard; a median excretory pore was present at the posterior tip of all stages examined, including the terminal mature proglottid of a worm after 105 days in a lizard. Scolex growth rate was linear throughout metacestode and adult development, but growth rate in body length was diphasic, punctuated by change of hosts, associated with strobilization. Attempts to establish parenteral infections in anoles were unsuccessful. Present data constitute the most complete life history study thus far for any species of Oochoristica.  相似文献

In this paper, new data on larval and postlarval stages after newly collected and museum-deposited material of six Ammothea species is provided and compared with previously known information. Different developmental stages attached to the ovigerous legs of adult males for each species were found: four stages [protonymphon (Ptn), postlarval instar 1 (PL-1), postlarval instar 2 (PL-2), and postlarval instar 3 (PL-3)] for A. carolinensis; just one (Ptn) for A. clausi and A. minor; three stages (Ptn, PL-1, PL-2) for A. bicorniculata and A. spinosa; and other three (Ptn, PL-2, PL-3) for A. longispina. In the present contribution, the external morphology of each larval and postlarval instar is described, illustrated, and discussed. The larval and postlarval development of Ammothea bicorniculata, A. carolinensis, A. longispina, and A. spinosa is characterized by (1) the eggs hatch as a protonymphon larva; (2) the larvae and subsequent postlarval stages have yolk reserves and a relatively large size (0.5–0.85 mm in length for the protonymphon); (3) the postlarvae remain on the ovigerous legs of males during several moults; (4) the spinning spine is absent; and (5) the development of walking legs is sequential. The protonymphon larva of A. clausi and A. minor is the only stage on the ovigerous legs of males, and this stage is characterized by: (1) there is no yolk reserve and it has a relatively small size (0.22–0.3 mm in length); (2) the spinning spine is present; and (3) all larval appendages have a relatively large size.  相似文献

本研究通过形态解剖、免疫组织化学等技术,对中华蜜蜂Apis cerana cerana工蜂蕈形体胚后发育中神经胶质的形成过程进行了比较研究。结果表明:蕈形体中神经胶质增殖的高峰期集中在幼虫发育末期到蛹发育早期;在工蜂蕈形体的蕈体冠、蕈体柄以及小叶的发育过程中,神经胶质细胞往往先于神经纤维网出现在特定的区域,引导神经纤维网的形成。它们一方面规定了神经纤维网的边界和区域,为神经纤维网提供内部的分隔;另一方面也为神经纤维的移动提供特定的“路标"和靶向。与神经纤维网相关联的神经胶质的数量的持续增加,除了神经胶质的分裂增殖外,还有一部分来自于外部细胞体层的神经胶质的迁入。  相似文献
