Basella alba is a perennial plant of the Basellaceae and is known by various common names including Malabar spinach. There are few insects that cause damage to B. alba. In this study, we examined the effect of B. alba leaves on the growth of Spodoptera litura larvae. B. alba leaves and a methanolic extract of the leaves inhibited the growth of S. litura larvae. Half of the larvae reared on the leaves died within 1 week. We found that two flavonoids, vitexin, and vitexin-2″-O-arabinofuranoside, were abundant in the methanol extract of leaves. When larvae were reared on purified vitexin or vitexin-2″-O-arabinofuranoside, their growth was significantly impaired compared with larvae reared on control spinach leaves. These results suggested that the flavonoid glycosides in B. alba leaves act as deterrents to S. litura larvae.  相似文献

Two separate genes, Fg and Vg, which govern the presence of isovitexin 2″-O-glucoside and vitexin 2″-O-glucoside respectively in the petals of Silene alba control different glucosyltransferases. In Vg/Vg,fg/fg plants no isovitexin 2″-O-glucosyltransferase was present and in vg/vg,Fg/Fg plants no vitexin 2″-O-glucosyltransferase activity could be detected. The Fg-controlled UDP-glucose: isovitexin 2″-O-glucosyltransferase has a pH optimum of8.5, while the Vg-controlled vitexin 2″- O-glucosyltransferase has a pH optimum of7.5. Both glucosyltransferases are stimulated by the divalent cations Ca2+, Co2+, Mn2+ and Mg2+. For isovitexin 2″-O-glucosylation, however, much higher concentrations are needed than for vitexin 2″-O-glucosylation.For UDP-glucose a ‘true Km’ value of0.3 mM with the Fg-controlled and of 0.2 mM with the Vg-controlled enzyme was found. For isovitexin and vitexin these values are respectively 0.09 and 0.01 mM.  相似文献

Eight flavone C-glycosides isolated from rice plant were found to act as probing stimulants for planthoppers. Besides vitexin, two compounds have been isolated from Mollugo oppositifolia and identified as vitexin 7-glucoside and 2″-p-coumaroylvitexin 7-glucoside. The latter is a new natural compound. Some features common to the electron-impact mass spectra of permethyl vitexin 7-glucoside and permethyl isovitexin 7-glucoside are discussed.  相似文献

From the leaves of Ziziphus spina-christi, the new flavonoid quercetin 3-xylosyl(1→2)rhamnoside-4′-rhamnoside as well as rutin, hyperin and quercitrin were characterized. The structures were established by chromatography, chemical degradation and UV spectroscopy, and confirmed by 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy.  相似文献

The aerial parts of Passiflora serratodigitata yielded 5,7-dihydroxy-4-phenylcoumarin, its 7-β-glucoside and the known C-glycosylflavones 2″-xylosylvitexin, 2″-xylosylisovitexin, vitexin, isovitexin, a vicenin, and orientin. The known flavone chrysin was also isolated. This is the first report of neoflavonoids in the family Passifloraceae.  相似文献

Twenty-five Avena species were investigated for their flavonoids. The flavonoids identified were vitexin, isovitexin, vitexin 2″-rhamnoside, isovitexin 2″-arabinoside, isoswertisin 2″-rhamnoside, tricin 5-glucoside, tricin 7-glucoside and tricin 7-diglucoside. The kinos of Eucalyptus astringens, E. lehmannii and E. platypus contain mainly polymerized leucocyanidin, appreciable amounts of dihydrokaempferol 3-rhamnoside and trace amounts of other components, The acid degradation products of different kinos contained components not present in the products from wood and bark. Astilbin (dihydroquercetin 3-rhamnoside) and engeletin (dihydrokaempferol 3-rhamnoside) were isolated for the first time from grapes. Details of their identification include nonderivatized 1H NMR spectra. These flavanonol glycosides were concentrated in the skins of white grapes, and were also present in white wines as shown by HPLC. Amounts and relative amounts differed by cultivar. They may be involved in certain discoloration problems during wine processing.  相似文献

The anthocyanin and flavonol glycosides in Larkspur flowers (cv. Dark Blue Supreme) are delphinidin 3-di(p-hydroxybenzoyl)glucosylglucoside, kaempferol 3-robinobioside-7-rhamnoside (robinin), kaempferol 3-rutinoside, kaempferol 7-rhamnoside, and kaempferol 3-(caffeylgalactosylxyloside)-7-rhamnoside. As young flowers age the pH of epidermal tissue increases from 5·5 to 6·6 and the color of many of the cells changes from moderate reddish-purple to light purplish-blue. Many of the older cells also contain blue crystals. Visible absorption spectra of moderate reddish-purple and light purplish-blue cells were simulated with a solution of the anthocyanin (10−2 M) plus robinin (5 × 10−3 M) at pH 5·6 and 7·1, respectively. Changes in the absorption spectra of living tissue with heating or cooling and of concentrated solutions of the anthocyanin with dilution or moderate heat, indicate that in the natural state the pigment is present in an associated form.  相似文献

Chromatographic fractionation of the methanolic extract of the shoots of Eleusine coracana led to the identification of three novel acylflavonoid glycosides, 6″-O-3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaroylorientin (1), 6″-O-malonylvitexin (2), and 4″-O-3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaroylvitexin (3) as well as five known flavonoid glycosides, orientin (4), isoorientin (5), vitexin (6), isovitexin (7), and 6″-O-3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaroylvitexin (8). Two new flavonol glucosides have been identified in Ephedra alata, namely, herbacetin 8-methyl ether 3-O- glucoside-7-O-rutinoside and herbacetin 7-O-(6″-quinylglucoside). The known flavonoids vicenin II, lucenin III, kaempferol 3-rhamnoside, quercetin 3-rhamnoside and herbacetin 7-glucoside were also found. The structure of the isolated compounds was determined mostly by FABMS and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The final structure of the new compounds and of herbacetin 7-glucoside was confirmed by 13C NMR spectroscopy.  相似文献

A new flavonol glycoside, gossypetin 8-O-rhamnoside, was isolated from flower petals of Gossypium arboreum along with quercetin 7-O-glucoside, quercetin 3-O-glucoside and quercetin 3′-O-glucoside. These compounds showed antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas maltophilia and Enterobacter cloacae.  相似文献
