No data exists regarding responses of human atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) to exercise in the heat. The purpose of this study was to examine the responses of plasma ANF to high intensity submaximal (71% +/- 0.9 VO2max) exercise in the heat over an eight day acclimation period. Fourteen healthy males volunteered to participate in the study. Subjects performed intermittent exercises on a treadmill (0% grade) during 50 min of each 100 min trial in an environmental chamber maintained at 41.2 +/- 0.5 degrees C, 39.0 +/- 1.7% relative humidity. Blood was obtained from an antecubital vein after standing 20 min in the heat prior to exercise, and immediately after exercise. Measures were compared on days 1, 4 and 8. ANF did not change pre- to post-exercise nor did it change over the eight day heat acclimation period despite other heat acclimation adaptations. Conversely, plasma aldosterone (ALDO), renin activity (PRA) and cortisol (COR) all increased (p less than 0.05) pre- to post-exercise on each day but again no changes were observed over the eight day period. These data support that ANF may not increase when ALDO and PRA increases are observed.  相似文献

Twenty-three subjects isokinetically trained the right and left quadriceps femoris, three times per week for 16 weeks; one group (n=13) trained at an angular velocity of 4.19 rad · s–1 and a second group (n=10), at 1.05 rad · s–1. A control group (n=10) performed no training. Isometric endurance time at 60% quadriceps maximum voluntary contraction (MVC), mean power output and work done (W) during all-out cycling, and the muscle buffer value (B) and carnosine concentration of biopsy samples from the vastus lateralis, were all assessed before and after training. The two training groups did not differ significantly from each other in their training response to any of these variables (P < 0.05). No significant difference in either 60% MVC endurance time or impulse [(endurance time × force) at 60% MVC] was observed for any group after the 16 week period (P > 0.05). However, the post-training increase (9%) in W during high-intensity cycling was greater in the training group than in the control group (P=0.04). NeitherB nor carnosine concentration showed any significant change following training (P=0.56 andP=0.37, respectively). It is concluded that 16 weeks of isokinetic training of the knee extensors enables subjects to do more work during high-intensity cycling. Although the precise adaptations responsible for the improved performance have yet to be identified, they are unlikely to include an increase inB.  相似文献

The effects of muscle fatigue on the temporal neuromuscular control of the vastus medialis (VM) muscle were investigated in 19 young male subjects. The electromyogram (EMG) activities of VM and the force generation capacities of the quadriceps muscle were monitored before and after a fatigue protocol. In response to light signals, which were triggered randomly, the subjects made three maximal isometric knee extensions. This was then followed by the fatigue protocol which consisted of 30 isometric maximal voluntary contractions at a sequence of 5-s on and 5-s off. Immediately after the exercise to fatigue, the subjects performed another three maximal isometric contractions in response to the light signals. The effects of fatigue on the temporal neuromuscular control were then investigated by dividing the total reaction time (TRT) into premotor time (PMT) and electromechanical delay (EMD). The TRT was defined as the time interval between the light signal and the onset of the knee extension force. The PMT was defined as the time from the light signal to the onset of EMG activities of VM, and EMD as the time interval between onset of EMG activities to that of force generation. Following the contractions to fatigue there was a significant decrease in peak force (Fpeak, P = 0.016), an increase in the root mean square (rms)-EMG: Fpeak quotient (P = 0.001) but an insignificant change in the median frequency (P = 0.062) and rms-EMG (P = 0.119). Significant lengthening of mean EMD was found after the fatigue protocol [0.0396 (SD 0.009) vs. 0.0518 (SD 0.016) s P<0.001]. The lengthening of EMD in VM would affect the stabilizing effect of the patella during knee extension. The faster mean PMT [0.2445 (SD 0.093) vs. 0.2075 (SD 0.074) s, P = 0.042] following the fatigue protocol might have compensated for the lengthened EMD and contributed to the insignificant change in the mean TRT [0.284 (SD 0.09) vs. 0.259 (SD 0.073) s, P = 0.164]. This was probably related to the low level of fatigue (15% decrease in force) and the stereotyped nature of the action such that the effects of the fatigue on neuromuscular control were likely to have been attributable to peripheral processes.  相似文献

Objectives:Females tend to fatigue less than males after isometric exercise, but less is clear for isotonic exercise. Further, there have been relatively few sex comparisons for fatigability of the plantar flexors (PFs). We sought to investigate potential sex differences in contractile properties after a sustained maximal voluntary isometric contraction (MVIC) and isotonic contractions.Methods:Twenty-seven physically active males (n=14; 22±2 yrs) and females (n=13; 21±2 yrs) randomly performed a 2 min MVIC and 120 concentric isotonic (30% MVIC) contractions for the PFs on separate visits. Before and after each fatiguing task, muscle activation was obtained from brief MVICs, which was followed (~2 sec) by tibial nerve stimulation at rest. Contractile properties including peak twitch, absolute and normalized time to peak twitch, and half relaxation time were calculated.Results:No sex differences existed for fatigue-induced changes in muscle activation (p=0.09-0.41; d=0.33-0.69) or contractile properties (p=0.19-0.96; d=0.06-0.94).Conclusions:Peripheral fatigue, as indicated by contractile parameters, did not differ between sexes after isometric or isotonic exercise. The PFs similar fiber type proportions between sexes or greater fiber type heterogeneity may explain why sex differences in fatigability, though common in other muscle groups (e.g., knee extensors), were not expressed in this muscle group.  相似文献

This investigation assessed whether a measure of moment curve shape similarity, and a measure quantifying curve magnitude differences, enables differentiation between types (sincere vs. feigned) and levels (maximal vs. submaximal) of effort exerted during isokinetic testing of the knee. Healthy participants (n = 37) performed four sets of six concentric knee extension–flexion repetitions on two occasions. The sets consisted of: (1) maximal effort; (2) self-perceived 75% of maximal effort; (3) self-perceived 50% of maximal effort; and (4) a set attempting to feign injury. Average cross-correlation and percent root mean square difference values were computed between moment curves in each direction. Logistic regression was used to derive decision rules for differentiating between maximal and submaximal effort levels; and between sincere and feigned effort types. Using a cutoff criteria corresponding to 100% specificity, maximal effort production could be ascertained with 96% sensitivity within the sample. Feigned efforts, however, could be ascertained with only 31% sensitivity due to overlap with sincere submaximal effort. Using the proposed models, clinicians may be able to ascertain whether maximal efforts were produced during isokinetic knee musculature testing. Additionally, evidence regarding participant’s intentions with regard to influencing test results may be gauged, although to a lesser extent.  相似文献

The influence of four isolated periods of dietary manipulation upon high intensity exercise capacity was investigated in six healthy male subjects. Subjects consumed their 'normal' (N) diet (45 +/- 2% carbohydrate (CHO), 41 +/- 3% fat, 14 +/- 3% protein) for four days after which they exercised to voluntary exhaustion at a workload equivalent to 100% VO2max. Three further four-day periods of dietary manipulation took place; these were assigned in a randomised manner and each was followed by a high intensity exercise test. The dietary treatments were: a low CHO (3 +/- 1%), high fat (71 +/- 5%), high protein (26 +/- 3%) diet (HFHP); a high CHO (73 +/- 2%), low fat (12 +/- 2%), normal protein (15 +/- 1%) diet (HCLF); and a normal CHO (47 +/- 3%), low fat (27 +/- 2%), high protein (26 +/- 2%) diet (LFHP). Acid-base status and blood lactate concentration were measured on arterialised-venous blood at rest prior to dietary manipulation on each day of the different diets, immediately prior to exercise and at 2, 4, 6, 10 and 15 min post-exercise. Other metabolite concentrations were measured in the blood samples obtained prior to dietary manipulation and immediately prior to exercise. Many studies have reported strength gains in older adults following high-intensity resistance training. However, the muscle contraction types examined have been primarily isometric (static) or concentric (CONC; shortening). Less is known about how eccentric (ECC) strength in older adults responds to training or about the efficacy of ECC contractions as training stimuli in these subjects, even though muscle contractions of this type are performed in most training regimens and daily physical activities. In this study, 15 physically active, healthy older women [68 (5) years; mean (SD)] completed an 8-week resistance training program of two sessions per week. Training consisted of three sets of eight repetitions of CONC ankle plantar flexion (PF) and ECC dorsiflexion (DF), at greater than 80% of the initial peak torque, in a standing position only. Subjects were tested in standing and supine positions for: (1) strength over a range of 10° DF to 20° PF for both CONC and ECC; DF and PF (2) passive resistive torque of the plantar flexors at 6°/s; and (3) DF and PF rate of torque development. All strength testing and training was done at 30°/s. Significant increases (P < 0.01) were found for both CONC DF (↑30%) and ECC DF (↑17%) peak torque in the standing position. No significant changes occurred for DF strength as measured with the subjects in the supine position, PF strength in either position, passive resistive torque, or rate of torque development. In summary, strength gains occurred only in the dorsiflexors, which were trained using ECC contractions. Improvements in DF strength were specific to the position of training, which has implications for the transferability of strength gains to functional tasks such as maintaining gait. Isokinetic training of right and left quadriceps femoris was undertaken three times per week for 16 weeks. One group of subjects (n = 13) trained at an angular velocity of 4.19 rad.s-1 and a second group (n = 10) at 1.05 rad.s-1. A control group (n = 10) performed no training. Maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) of the quadriceps, and peak pedal velocity nu p,peak) and peak power output (Wpeak) during all-out cycling (against loads equivalent to 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14% MVC) were assessed before and after training. The two training groups did not differ significantly from each other in their training response to any of the performance variables (P > 0.05). No significant difference in MVC was observed for any group after the 16-week period (P = 0.167). The post-training increases in average Wpeak (7%) and nu p,peak (6%) during the cycle tests were each significantly different from the control group response (P = 0.018 and P = 0.008, respectively). It is concluded that 16 weeks of isokinetic strength training of the knee extensors is able to significantly improve nu p, peak and Wpeak during spring cycling, an activity which demands considerable involvement of the trained muscle group but with its own distinct pattern of coordination.  相似文献

Maximal eccentric loading has been associated with higher levels of spindle afferent activity but lower levels of integrated EMG as compared to maximal concentric loading. Elbow flexor EMG was recorded from 17 subjects during concentric (CONC) and eccentric (ECC) elbow flexion at 70° s−1 using a Kin-Com dynamometer. We hypothesized that peak EMG amplitude would be more sensitive to fluctuations in facilitation by the spindle primary afferents via the segmental stretch reflex pathway, and that the mean EMG would be more reflective of the ongoing level of muscle activation. A ratio of peak to mean EMG (P/M EMG ratio) was predicted to be larger during maximal eccentric loading than maximal concentric loading. The peak EMG (P<0.013) and the P/M EMG ratio (P<0.001) were significantly greater during the ECC condition than the CONC condition. In a subgroup of three subjects who underwent 3 weeks of eccentrically biased weight training, EMG, peak torque and torque variability were assessed before and after training. P/M EMG ratio decreased, while peak torque and torque variability increased following the training. Differences in the P/M EMG ratio appear to reflect differences in the way eccentric and concentric muscle actions are controlled and do not simply represent less control during the eccentric task.  相似文献

These studies investigated the effects of 2 weeks of either a high-fat (HIGH-FAT: 70% fat, 7% CHO) or a high-carbohydrate (HIGH-CHO: 74% CHO, 12% fat) diet on exercise performance in trained cyclists (n = 5) during consecutive periods of cycle exercise including a Wingate test of muscle power, cycle exercise to exhaustion at 85% of peak power output [90% maximal oxygen uptake ( O2max), high-intensity exercise (HIE)] and 50% of peak power output [60% O2max, moderate intensity exercise (MIE)]. Exercise time to exhaustion during HIE was not significantly different between trials: nor were the rates of muscle glycogen utilization during HIE different between trials, although starting muscle glycogen content was lower [68.1 (SEM 3.9) vs 120.6 (SEM 3.8) mmol · kg –1 wet mass, P < 0.01] after the HIGH-FAT diet. Despite a lower muscle glycogen content at the onset of MIE [32 (SEM 7) vs 73 (SEM 6) mmol · kg –1 wet mass, HIGH-FAT vs HIGH-CHO, P < 0.01], exercise time to exhaustion during subsequent MIE was significantly longer after the HIGH-FAT diet [79.7 (SEM 7.6) vs 42.5 (SEM 6.8) min, HIGH-FAT vs HIGH-CHO, P<0.01]. Enhanced endurance during MIE after the HIGH-FAT diet was associated with a lower respiratory exchange ratio [0.87 (SEM 0.03) vs 0.92 (SEM 0.02), P<0.05], and a decreased rate of carbohydrate oxidation [1.41 (SEM 0.70) vs 2.23 (SEM 0.40) g CHO · min–1, P<0.05]. These results would suggest that 2 weeks of adaptation to a high-fat diet would result in an enhanced resistance to fatigue and a significant sparing of endogenous carbohydrate during low to moderate intensity exercise in a relatively glycogen-depleted state and unimpaired performance during high intensity exercise.  相似文献

The influence of a 24 h fast on endurance performance and the metabolic response to maximal cycle exercise was investigated in 6 healthy men (mean +/- SD: age = 27 +/- 7 years; weight = 73 +/- 10 kg; VO2max = 46 +/- 10 ml.kg-1.min-1). Subjects performed in randomised order two exercise bouts to exhaustion separated by one week. Test rides were performed in fasted (F) and post-absorptive (normal-diet, ND) conditions on an electrically braked cycle ergometer at a workload equivalent to 100% of VO2max. Acid-base status and selected metabolites were measured on arterialised venous blood at rest prior to exercise and at intervals for 15 mins following exercise. Exercise time to exhaustion was shorter after F compared with ND (p less than 0.01). Pre-exercise blood bicarbonate (HCO3-) concentration, PCO2 and base excess (BE) were lower after F compared with ND (p less than 0.05). Prior to exercise, circulating concentrations of free fatty acids (FFA), beta-hydroxybutyrate (B-HB) and glycerol were higher after F compared with ND (p less than 0.01) but blood glucose and lactate concentration were not different. On the F treatment, after exercise, blood pH, HCO3-, and BE were all significantly higher (p less than 0.01) than on ND; blood lactate concentration was significantly lower for the whole of the post-exercise period after F compared with ND (p less than 0.01). The effect of a pattern of exercise and dietary modification, which is normally used to alter muscle glycogen content, upon the acid-base status of the blood and the ability to perform high intensity exercise was studied. Eleven healthy male subjects cycled to exhaustion on an electrically braked cycle ergometer at a workload equivalent to 100% of their maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) on three separate occasions. The first exercise test took place after a normal diet (46.2 +/- 6.7% carbohydrate (CHO)), and was followed by prolonged exercise to exhaustion to deplete muscle glycogen stores. The second test was performed after three days of a low carbohydrate diet (10.1 +/- 6.8% CHO) and subsequently after three days of a high CHO diet (65.5 +/- 9.8% CHO) the final test took place. Acid-base status and selected metabolites were measured on arterialised venous blood at rest prior to exercise and during the post-exercise period. Exercise time to exhaustion was longer after the normal (p less than 0.05) and high (p less than 0.05). CHO dietary phases compared with the low CHO phase. Resting pre-exercise pH was higher after the high CHO diet (p less than 0.05) compared with the low CHO diet. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of moment of antagonistic muscle on the resultant joint moment during isokinetic eccentric and concentric efforts of the knee extensors. Ten males performed maximum eccentric and concentric knee extension and flexion efforts on a Biodex dynamometer at 0.52 rad · s−1 (30° · s−1). Electromyographic (EMG) activity of vastus medialis and biceps femoris (hamstrings) was also recorded. The antagonistic moment of the hamstrings was determined by recording the integrated EMG (iEMG)/moment relationship at different levels of muscle effort. The iEMG/moment curves were fitted using second-degree polynomials. The polynomials were then used to predict the antagonistic moment exerted by the hamstrings from the antagonist iEMG. The antagonistic moment had a maximum of 42.92 Nm and 28.97 Nm under concentric and eccentric conditions respectively; paired t-tests indicated that this was a significant difference (P < 0.05). These results indicate that the resultant joint moment of knee extensors is the result of both agonist and antagonist muscle activation. The greater antagonist muscle activity under concentric activation conditions may be partly responsible for the lower resultant joint concentric moment of knee extensors compared with the corresponding eccentric activation. The antagonist moment significantly affects comparisons between the isokinetic moments and agonist EMG and in vitro force measurements under different testing (muscle action and angular velocity) conditions. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of caffeine ingestion on physical performance after prolonged endurance exercise. Twenty three trained male volunteers participated in a 40-km march and were divided into two groups, matched for caffeine clearance rate and aerobic capacity. The experimental group ingested, prior to the march, a caffeinated drink at a dose of 5 mg.kg-1 body mass and at the 3rd and 5th h of marching an additional drink at a dose of 2.5 mg.kg-1 body mass. The control group ingested a drink of equal volume at the same times. Upon termination of the march each subject performed a cycle ergometer test at an intensity of 90% maximal oxygen consumption. Time to exhaustion and rate of perceived exertion (RPE) were recorded. Blood samples were drawn predrink, at the 3rd and 5th h of marching and immediately after the cycle ergometer test, and were analysed for caffeine, free fatty acids (FFA), lactate and glucose levels. Plasma FFA levels increased during the march (p less than 0.05), with no significant difference between groups. Lactate levels increased in the experimental group (p less than 0.05), with no significant change in the control group. Glucose levels did not change significantly in either group. After the cycle ergometer test, lactate levels were significantly higher in the experimental, as compared to the control group (3.77 +/- 0.33 vs 2.52 +/- 0.35 mmol.l-1, respectively). The shoulder joint-related dynamic control ratio (DCR) is derived by dividing the peak eccentric moment of the external rotators (ER) by the peak concentric moment of the internal rotators (IR). However, given the inherent limitation associated with a single value DCR, an alternative approach is to calculate it at fixed angular intervals. This preliminary study aimed at exploring the variation in the DCR at a resolution of 1° and under fatiguing external and internal rotation exertions. Eighteen young men, 10 experienced and 8 without experience in overhead sporting activities completed two separate series of 45 ER eccentric and 45 IR concentric isokinetic repetitions at 120°/s. The analysis focused on repetitions 1–3 (TR1), 21–23 (TR2) and 41–43 (TR3). The relative fatigue values for both muscle groups and for both E and NE participants were 25–40% with significantly higher fatigue resistance in eccentric compared with concentric exertions. The DCR traces varied substantially linearly for most of the internal rotation range of motion while significant differences (p < 0.001) were found in their values within group between TR1, TR2 and TR3 and between experienced and non-experienced participants. An antagonistic moment equilibrium (DCR = 1) was reached in all instances and for both groups only during TR3 with a significant progressive reduction in this moment as fatigue increased. Thus, considering the DCR as an angle-based variable rather than a single value isokinetic parameter, may add new insight regarding the interplay between the rotatory muscles of the shoulder joint.  相似文献

To examine the effects of two high-intensity intermittent training (HIIT) programs of varying intensities (100% vs. 110% of maximal aerobic velocity [MAV]) on metabolic, hormonal and inflammatory markers in young men. Thirty-seven active male volunteers were randomly assigned into: HIIT experimental groups (100% MAV [EG100, n = 9] and 110% MAV [EG110, n = 9]) and a control groups (CG100, n = 9 and CG110, n = 9). Particpants performed high intesity intermittent exercise test (HIIE) at 100% or 110% MAV. Venous blood samples were obtained before, at the end of HIIE and at 15 min of recovery, and before and after 8 weeks of HIIT programs. After training, Glucose was lower (p < 0.01) in EG100 (d = 0.72) and EG110 (d = 1.20) at the end of HIIE, and at 15 min recovery only in EG110 (d = 0.95). After training, Insulin and Cortisol were lower than before training in EG100 and EG110 at the end of HIIE (p < 0.001). After HIIT, IL-6 deceased (p < 0.001) in EG100 (d = 1.43) and EG110 (d = 1.56) at rest, at the end of HIIE (d = 1.03; d = 1.75, respectively) and at 15 min of recovery (d = 0.88;d = 1.7, respectively). This decrease was more robust (p < 0.05) in EG110 compared to EG100. After HIIT, TNF-α deceased (p < 0.001) in EG100 (d = 1.43) and EG110 (d = 0.60) at rest, at the end of HIIE (0.71 < d < 0.98) and at 15 min of recovery (0.70 < d < 2.78). HIIT with 110% MAV is more effective in young males on the improvements of some metabolic (Glucose), hormonal (Cortisol) and inflammatory (IL-6) markers at rest, at the end of HIIE and 15 min of recovery than training at 100 % MAV.  相似文献

Neuronal nitric oxide synthases (nNOS) are Ca2+/calmodulin-activated enzymes that synthesize the gaseous messenger nitric oxide (NO). nNOSμ and the recently described nNOSβ, both spliced nNOS isoforms, are important enzymatic sources of NO in skeletal muscle, a tissue long considered to be a paradigmatic system for studying NO-dependent redox signaling. nNOS is indispensable for skeletal muscle integrity and contractile performance, and deregulation of nNOSμ signaling is a common pathogenic feature of many neuromuscular diseases. Recent evidence suggests that both nNOSμ and nNOSβ regulate skeletal muscle size, strength, and fatigue resistance, making them important players in exercise performance. nNOSμ acts as an activity sensor and appears to assist skeletal muscle adaptation to new functional demands, particularly those of endurance exercise. Prolonged inactivity leads to nNOS-mediated muscle atrophy through a FoxO-dependent pathway. nNOS also plays a role in modulating exercise performance in neuromuscular disease. In the mdx mouse model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy, defective nNOS signaling is thought to restrict contractile capacity of working muscle in two ways: loss of sarcolemmal nNOSμ causes excessive ischemic damage while residual cytosolic nNOSμ contributes to hypernitrosylation of the ryanodine receptor, causing pathogenic Ca2+ leak. This defect in Ca2+ handling promotes muscle damage, weakness, and fatigue. This review addresses these recent advances in the understanding of nNOS-dependent redox regulation of skeletal muscle function and exercise performance under physiological and neuromuscular disease conditions.  相似文献

We examined differences in muscle damage and muscle performance perturbations in relation to the same volumes of high (HI) and low intensity (LI) of eccentric exercise. Untrained young healthy men (n = 12) underwent 2 isokinetic quadriceps eccentric exercise sessions, 1 on each randomly selected leg, separated by a 2-week interval. In the first session subjects performed HI exercise (i.e., 12 sets of 10 maximal voluntary efforts). In the second session, volunteers were subjected to continuous exercise of LI (50% of peak torque) until the total work done was approximately equal to that generated during HI. Muscle damage (serum creatine kinase concentration [CK], delayed onset of muscle soreness, and range of motion) and muscle performance (eccentric [EPT] and isometric peak torque [IPT]) indicators were assessed pre-exercise and 24, 48, 72, and 96 hours postexercise. Compared to baseline data, changes in muscle damage indicators were significantly different (p < 0.05) at almost all postexercise time points in both conditions. However, apart from the significant elevation of CK at 24 hours after HI (p < 0.05), no other significant differences were observed between the 2 exercise conditions (p > 0.05). The main finding in relation to muscle performance was that decrements following HI exercise were significantly greater (p < 0.05) compared to LI. Compared with baseline data, the EPT values following HI and LI exercise were as follows: 24 hours, 72.1% vs. 92%; 48 hours, 81.9% vs. 94.8%; 72 hours, 77.7% vs. 100.6%; 96 hours, 86.8% vs. 107.9%. The corresponding data for IPT were as follows: 24 hours, 86.4% vs. 102.8%; 48 hours, 84.2% vs. 107%; 72 hours, 84.8% vs. 109.2%; 96 hours, 86.8% vs. 114.4%. These results indicate that matching volumes of HI and LI eccentric exercise have similar effects on muscle damage, but HI has a more prominent effect on muscle performance.  相似文献

The quadriceps-intermittent-fatigue (QIF) test assesses knee extensors strength, endurance and performance fatigability in isometric condition. We aimed to assess reliability and agreement for this test in dynamic conditions and with the use of transcranial magnetic stimulation. On two separate sessions, 20 young adults (25 ± 4 yr, 10 women) performed stages of 100 knee extensors concentric contractions at 120°/s (60° range-of-motion) with 10% increments of the initial maximal concentric torque until exhaustion. Performance fatigability across the test was quantified as maximal isometric and concentric torque loss, and its mechanisms were investigated through the responses to transcranial magnetic and electrical stimulations. Reliability and agreement were assessed using ANOVAs, coefficients of variation (CVs) and intra-class correlation coefficients (ICCs) with 95% CI. Good inter-session reliability and high agreement were found for number of contractions [489 ± 75 vs. 503 ± 95; P = 0.20; ICC = 0.85 (0.66; 0.94); CV = 5% (3; 7)] and total work [11,285 ± 4,932 vs. 11,792 ± 5838 Nm.s; P = 0.20; ICC = 0.95 (0.87; 0.98); CV = 8% (5; 11)]. Poor reliability but high agreement were observed for isometric [–33 ± 6 vs. −31 ± 7%; P = 0.13; ICC = 0.47 (0.05; 0.75); CV = 6% (4;8)] and concentric [−20 ± 11% vs. −19 ± 9%; P = 0.82; ICC = 0.26 (−0.22; 0.63); CV = 9% (6; 12)] torque loss. The dynamic QIF test represents a promising tool for neuromuscular evaluation in isokinetic mode.  相似文献

This study examined the validity of the twitch interpolation technique for evaluating side-to-side asymmetries in quadriceps neuromuscular function. Fifty-six subjects with a wide range of asymmetries (19 healthy, 24 with unilateral and 13 with bilateral anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction) took part in the study. Supramaximal electrical paired stimuli were delivered to the quadriceps muscle during and immediately after a maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) of the knee extensors (twitch interpolation technique). MVC torque, voluntary activation and resting doublet-evoked torque were measured separately for the two sides, and percent side-to-side asymmetries were calculated for each parameter. MVC torque asymmetry was plotted against voluntary activation asymmetry and doublet-evoked torque asymmetry, and a multiple regression analysis was also conducted. Significant positive correlations were observed between MVC torque asymmetry and both voluntary activation asymmetry (r = 0.40; p = 0.002) and doublet-evoked torque asymmetry (r = 0.53; p < 0.001), and their relative contribution to MVC torque asymmetry was comparable (r = 0.64; p < 0.001). These results establish the validity of the twitch interpolation technique for the assessment of neuromuscular asymmetries. This methodology could provide useful insights into the contribution of some neural and muscular mechanisms that underlie quadriceps strength deficits.  相似文献
