ABSTRACT: Rantalainen, T, Ruotsalainen, I, and Virmavirta, M. Effect of weighted vest suit worn during daily activities on running speed, jumping power, and agility in young men. J Strength Cond Res 26(11): 3030-3035, 2012-Previous weighted vest interventions using exercise in addition to hypergravity have been successful in improving postural balance and power production capacity. The purpose of this study was to investigate if hypergravity alone in daily activities excluding sporting activities is effective in improving neuromuscular performance in young adults. Eight male subjects (age = 32 [SD: 6] years, height = 178 [5] cm, and body mass = 81 [8] kg) wore weighted vests 3 d·wk for 3 weeks during waking hours, excluding sporting activities. Control group comprised 9 male subjects (age = 32 [6] years, height = 179 [5] cm, and body mass = 83 [9] kg). Performance was assessed with countermovement jump (body mass normalized peak power), figure-of-8 running test (running time), and running velocity test at baseline and at the end of the intervention. At baseline, the groups did not differ from each other (multivariate analysis of variance [MANOVA] p = 0.828). A significant group × time interaction (MANOVA F = 5.1, p = 0.015) was observed for performance variables. Analysis of covariance indicated that the intervention improved the figure-of-8 running time (p = 0.016) (-2.2 vs. 0.5%), whereas normalized peak power (0.0 vs. 1.6%) and running velocity (1.3 vs. 0.1%) were unaffected (p ≥ 0.095). Wearing weighted vests was effective in slightly improving agility-related performance in young men. Because the effect was small, applying hypergravity only during exercise probably suffices. It appears that a proper volume and intensity of hypergravity could be in the order of 5-10% body weight vest worn during up to 50% of the training sessions for a period of 3-4 weeks.  相似文献

Metabolic response of endurance athletes to training with added load   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Endurance athletes were divided into experimental (n = 12) and control (n = 12) groups to investigate the effects of extra-load training on energy metabolism during exercise. A vest weighing 9%-10% body weight was worn every day from morning to evening for 4 weeks including every (n = 6) or every other (n = 6) training session. After 4 weeks the control group had a lower blood lactate concentration during submaximal running, whereas the experimental group had significantly higher blood lactate and oxygen uptake (p less than 0.01--p less than 0.05), and a lower 2 mmol lactate threshold (p less than 0.05) and an increased blood lactate concentration after a short running test to exhaustion (p less than 0.05). Those experimental subjects (n = 6) who used the added load during every training session had a lower 2 mmol lactate threshold, improved running time to exhaustion, improved vertical velocity when running up stairs and an increased VO2 during submaximal running after the added load increased anaerobic metabolism in the leg muscle during submaximal and maximal exercise. An increased recruitment and adaptation of the fast twitch muscle fibres is suggested as the principal explanation for the observed changes.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to compare the pattern of force production and center of mass kinematics in maximal vertical jump performance between power athletes, recreational bodybuilders, and physically active subjects. Twenty-seven healthy male subjects (age: 24.5 +/- 4.3 years, height: 178.7 +/- 15.2 cm, and weight: 81.9 +/- 12.7 kg) with distinct training backgrounds were divided into 3 groups: power track athletes (PT, n = 10) with international experience, recreational bodybuilders (BB, n = 7) with at least 2 years of training experience, and physically active subjects (PA, n = 10). Subjects performed a 1 repetition maximum (1RM) leg press test and 5 countermovement jumps with no instructions regarding jumping technique. The power-trained group jumped significantly higher (p < 0.05) than the BB and PA groups (0.40 +/- 0.05, 0.31 +/- 0.04, and 0.30 +/- 0.05, respectively). The difference in jumping height was not produced by higher rates of force development (RFD) and shorter center of mass (CM) displacement. Instead, the PT group had greater CM excursion (p < 0.05) than the other groups. The PT and BB groups had a high correlation between jumping height and 1RM test (r = 0.93 and r = 0.89, p < 0.05, respectively). In conclusion, maximum strength seems to be important for jumping height, but RFD does not seem relevant to achieve maximum jumping heights. High RFD jumps should be performed during training only when sport skills have a time constraint for force application.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of 3 different plyometric training frequencies (e.g., 1 day per week, 2 days per week, 4 days per week) associated with 3 different plyometric training volumes on maximal strength, vertical jump performance, and sprinting ability. Forty-two students were randomly assigned to 1 of 4 groups: control (n = 10, 7 sessions of drop jump (DJ) training, 1 day per week, 420 DJs), 14 sessions of DJ training (n = 12, 2 days per week, 840 DJs), and 28 sessions of DJ training (n = 9, 4 days per week, 1680 DJs). The training protocols included DJ from 3 different heights 20, 40, and 60 cm. Maximal strength (1 repetition maximum [1RM] and maximal isometric strength), vertical height in countermovement jumps and DJs, and 20-m sprint time tests were carried out before and after 7 weeks of plyometric training. No significant differences were observed among the groups in pre-training in any of the variables tested. No significant changes were observed in the control group in any of the variables tested at any point. Short-term plyometric training using moderate training frequency and volume of jumps (2 days per week, 840 jumps) produces similar enhancements in jumping performance, but greater training efficiency (approximately 12% and 0.014% per jump) compared with high jumping (4 days per week, 1680 jumps) training frequency (approximately 18% and 0.011% per jump). In addition, similar enhancements in 20-m-sprint time, jumping contact times and maximal strength were observed in both a moderate and low number of training sessions per week compared with high training frequencies, despite the fact that the average number of jumps accomplished in 7S (420 jumps) and 14S (840 jumps) was 25 and 50% of that performed in 28S (1680 jumps). These observations may have considerable practical relevance for the optimal design of plyometric training programs for athletes, given that a moderate volume is more efficient than a higher plyometric training volume.  相似文献

It has been shown that target-pointing arm movements without visual feedback shift downward in space microgravity and upward in centrifuge hypergravity. Under gravity changes in aircraft parabolic flight, however, arm movements have been reported shifting upward in hypergravity as well, but a downward shift under microgravity is contradicted. In order to explain this discrepancy, we reexamined the pointing movements using an experimental design which was different from prior ones. Arm-pointing movements were measured by goniometry around the shoulder joint of subjects with and without eyes closed or with a weight in the hand, during hyper- and microgravity in parabolic flight. Subjects were fastened securely to the seat with the neck fixed and the elbow maintained in an extended position, and the eyes were kept closed for a period of time before each episode of parabolic flight. Under these new conditions, the arm consistently shifted downward during microgravity and mostly upward during hypergravity, as expected. We concluded that arm-pointing deviation induced by parabolic flight could be also be valid for studying the mechanism underlying disorientation under varying gravity conditions.  相似文献

To investigate the effects of a combination of simultaneous strength and endurance training on selected neuromuscular and aerobic performance characteristics seven male cross-country skiers underwent training for a period of 6 weeks. The experimental group trained 6-9 times per week with a programme consisting of 34% explosive type strength training and 66% endurance training during the first 3 weeks of the experiment and 42% and 58% respectively during the last 3 weeks of the experiment. The total volume of training of the control group (eight skiers) was of the same magnitude but consisted of 85% pure endurance training and 15% endurance type strength training. The experimental training regime resulted in specific changes in neuromuscular performance. This was demonstrated by improvements (P less than 0.01) in the maximal heights of rise of the centre of gravity in the squat and countermovement jumps. A significant decrease (P less than 0.05) took place also in the time of rapid isometric force production during experimental training, while no changes occurred in the maximal force of the trained muscles. Aerobic performance characteristics of the experimental group did not change during the experimental training period. No significant changes occurred in neuromuscular or aerobic performance characteristics in the control group. These findings indicated that training-induced improvements in explosive force production may not be fully inhibited by this kind of aerobic training. They also suggested that endurance athletes could undertake explosive type strength training programmes without a concomitant reduction in aerobic capacity, if the overall loading of training were within predefined limits.  相似文献

Real and simulated microgravity impairs T secretion both in animals and in the human. To verify whether hypergravity might enhance T secretion as a consequence of an opposite mechanical effect, 6 male monkeys were centrifuged at 2 G for 3 weeks after a 1 G stabilization period lasting 3 weeks and then taken back to 1 G for 1 week and urine were collected daily for T excretion measurement. Significantly higher level were observed during the initial 2 G phase as compared to pre- and post centrifugation periods and the trend was the same during the remaining 2 G period. This may reflect changes in testicular perfusion rather than endocrine adaptation per se.  相似文献

This study determined whether a 6-week regimen of plyometric training would improve running economy (i.e., the oxygen cost of submaximal running). Eighteen regular but not highly trained distance runners (age = 29 +/- 7 [mean +/- SD] years) were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. All subjects continued regular running training for 6 weeks; experimental subjects also did plyometric training. Dependent variables measured before and after the 6-week period were economy of running on a level treadmill at 3 velocities (women: 2.23, 2.68, and 3.13 m.s(-1); men: 2.68, 3.13, and 3.58 m.s(-1)),VO(2)max, and indirect indicators of ability of muscles of lower limbs to store and return elastic energy. The last were measurements during jumping tests on an inclined (20 degrees ) sled: maximal jump height with and without countermovement and efficiencies of series of 40 submaximal countermovement and static jumps. The plyometric training improved economy (p < 0.05). Averaged values (m.ml(-1).kg(-1)) for the 3 running speeds were: (a). experimental subjects-5.14 +/- 0.39 pretraining, 5.26 +/- 0.39 posttraining; and (b). control subjects-5.10 +/- 0.36 pretraining, 5.06 +/- 0.36 posttraining. The VO(2)max did not change with training. Plyometric training did not result in changes in jump height or efficiency variables that would have indicated improved ability to store and return elastic energy. We conclude that 6 weeks of plyometric training improves running economy in regular but not highly trained distance runners; the mechanism must still be determined.  相似文献

The space flight or simulated gravitational unloading lead to the muscle atrophy, slow-to-fast transformation of muscle fibers and myofibrillar damages both in humans and animals (1, 7, 13, 17). This process could be prevented by the exercise training during space flight (1), (partly) by periodic weight support during unloading (13). It has been demonstrated in these studies that there is some level of force production necessary for the maintenance of skeletal muscle properties. It is known that adaptation to the physical training frequently induces augmentation in cross-sectional area (CSA) of muscle fibers (MF), transformation of fibers, augmentation of mitochondrial volume density, and increase in absolute volume of myofibrillas. Numerous observations suggest importance of gravitational loading in regulating muscle mass. The centrifuging is believed to be useful for preventing muscle functional and structural losses under microgravity. But there are few studies designed to investigate effect of artificial gravity on the skeletal musculature (2, 7). Our objective was to investigate structural adaptation in slow-twitch soleus muscle (percentage of connective tissue and central nuclei, fiber size, myosin heavy chain isotope, myofibrillar proteins and mitochondria volume density) after 19 and 33 days of hypergravity.  相似文献

A novel loading method was applied to explore selective effects of externally added weight (W), weight and inertia (W+I), and inertia (I) on maximum counter-movement jumps (CMJ) performed with arm swing. Externally applied extended rubber bands and/or loaded vest added W, W+I, and I corresponding to 10-40% of subjects' body mass. As expected, an increase in magnitude of all types of load was associated with an increase in ground reaction forces (GRF), as well as with a decrease in both the jumping performance and power output. However, of more importance could be that discernible differences among the effects of W, W+I, and I were recorded despite a relatively narrow loading range. In particular, an increase in W was associated with the minimal changes in movement kinematic pattern and smallest reduction of jumping performance, while also allowing for the highest power output. Conversely, W+I was associated with the highest ground reaction forces. Finally, the lowest maxima of GRF and power were associated with I. Although further research is apparently needed, the obtained finding could be of potential importance not only for understanding fundamental properties of the neuromuscular system, but also for optimization of loading in standard athletic training and rehabilitation procedures.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to determine a resting interval between countermovement jumps (i.e., volleyball spikes) that allows the maintenance of maximal jumping performance. Ten male volleyball players (1.85 +/- 0.05 m, 77.2 +/- 10.6 kg, 21.6 +/- 5.3 years) performed 6 experimental jumping sessions. In the first and sixth sessions, maximal countermovement jump height was measured, followed by submaximal countermovement jumps to the point of volitional fatigue. The number of countermovement jumps was used as a reference to test the effect of rest period between volleyball spikes. From the second to fifth experimental sessions, 30 maximal volleyball spikes were performed with different resting periods (i.e., 8, 14, 17, and 20 seconds) followed by countermovement jumps. Between the 15th and 30th spikes, the blood lactate concentration and heart rate were measured. Because the performance on the first and sixth sessions was the same, no training effects were noticed. During the 8-second resting interval set, the lactate concentration increased significantly between the 15th and 30th spikes (i.e., from 3.37 +/- 1.16 mmol to 4.94 +/- 1.49 mmol); the number of countermovement jumps decreased significantly after spikes compared to those performed without a previous effort (i.e., from 23 +/- 7 jumps to 17 +/- 9 jumps); and these variables were significantly correlated (r = -0.7). On the other hand, the lactate concentration and number of countermovement jumps were stable across the other resting intervals, without a heart rate steady state. The results indicate that an adequate resting period between spikes allowed participants to achieve a lactate steady state in which the performance was maintained during the exercise. These findings show that resting intervals between 14 and 17 seconds, typical during volleyball matches, are indicated to use in volleyball spike drills due to their capacity to maintain maximal jumping performance.  相似文献

Mice exposed to hypergravity, especially soon after start of exposure, diminished the body weight and the food intake. The amount of food intake was kept less than that of the ground control during hypergravity breeding for 2 weeks. Furthermore, the weight of testis relative to the body weight increased compared to that of 1 G control although the relative weights of liver and kidney were not changed. The purpose of this study was whether the low growth rate of the body weight and the increase of the relative testis weight were induced by the decrease of the food intake under hypergravity. We divided 3 weeks old male mice to 3 groups; the 1 G (ground control), the food restricted (FR) under 1 G, and the 3 G group. The 3 G group bred for 2 weeks under the centrifuge at 3 G. The FR group was given the same amount of food as the group ate. The changes in the body weight and the relative weights of testis, spleen and seminal vesicle of the FR group were similar to those of the 3 G group. The hunger test revealed that only the FR group was hunger. Our results suggested that the decrease of the food intake both in response to hypergravity and the food restriction induced the decrease of the body weight but the increase of the relative testis weight.  相似文献

The present study was conducted to evaluate the response of rat deep body temperature (DBT) and gross locomotor activity (LMA) circadian rhythms to acute hypergravity onset and adaptation to chronic (14 day) hypergravity exposure over three gravity intensities (1.25, 1.5, and 2 G). Centrifugation of unanesthetized naive animals resulted in a dramatic acute decrease in DBT (-1.45, -2.40, and -3.09 degrees C for the 1.25, 1.5, and 2.0 G groups, respectively). LMA was suppressed for the duration of centrifugation (vs. control period); the percent decrease for each group on days 12-14, respectively, was 1.0 G, -15.2%, P = not significant; 1.25 G, -26.9%, P < 0.02; 1.5 G, -44.5%, P < 0.01; and 2.0 G, -63.1%, P < 0.002. The time required for DBT and LMA circadian rhythmic adaptation and stabilization to hypergravity onset increased from 1.25 to 2.0 G in all circadian metrics except daily means. Periodicity analysis detected the phenomenon of circadian rhythm splitting, which has not been reported previously in response to chronic hypergravity exposure. Our analysis documents the disruptive and dose-dependent effects of hypergravity on circadian rhythmicity and the time course of adaptation to 14-day chronic centrifugation exposure.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of the speed, agility, quickness (SAQ) training method on power performance in soccer players. Soccer players were assigned randomly to 2 groups: experimental group (EG; n = 50) and control group (n = 50). Power performance was assessed by a test of quickness--the 5-m sprint, a test of acceleration--the 10-m sprint, tests of maximal speed--the 20- and the 30-m sprint along with Bosco jump tests--squat jump, countermovement jump (CMJ), maximal CMJ, and continuous jumps performed with legs extended. The initial testing procedure took place at the beginning of the in-season period. The 8-week specific SAQ training program was implemented after which final testing took place. The results of the 2-way analysis of variance indicated that the EG improved significantly (p < 0.05) in 5-m (1.43 vs. 1.39 seconds) and in 10-m (2.15 vs. 2.07 seconds) sprints, and they also improved their jumping performance in countermovement (44.04 vs. 4.48 cm) and continuous jumps (41.08 vs. 41.39 cm) performed with legs extended (p < 0.05). The SAQ training program appears to be an effective way of improving some segments of power performance in young soccer players during the in-season period. Soccer coaches could use this information in the process of planning in-season training. Without proper planning of the SAQ training, soccer players will most likely be confronted with decrease in power performance during in-season period.  相似文献

This paper presents a simulation study that was conducted to investigate whether the stereotyped motion pattern observed in human sub-maximal jumping can be interpreted from the perspective of energy expenditure. Human sub-maximal vertical countermovement jumps were compared to jumps simulated with a forward dynamic musculo-skeletal model. This model consisted of four interconnected rigid segments, actuated by six Hill-type muscle actuators. The only independent input of the model was the stimulation of muscles as a function of time. This input was optimized using an objective function, in which targeting a specific sub-maximal height value was combined with minimizing the amount of muscle work produced. The characteristic changes in motion pattern observed in humans jumping to different target heights were reproduced by the model. As the target height was lowered, two major changes occurred in the motion pattern. First, the countermovement amplitude was reduced; this helped to save energy because of reduced dissipation and regeneration of energy in the contractile elements. Second, the contribution of rotation of the heavy proximal segments of the lower limbs to the vertical velocity of the centre of gravity at take-off was less; this helped to save energy because of reduced ineffective rotational energies at take-off. The simulations also revealed that, with the observed movement adaptations, muscle work was reduced through improved relative use of the muscle's elastic properties in sub-maximal jumping. According to the results of the simulations, the stereotyped motion pattern observed in sub-maximal jumping is consistent with the idea that in sub-maximal jumping, subjects are trying to achieve the targeted jump height with minimal energy expenditure.  相似文献

Researchers tested a hypothesis that astronauts can become more proficient in training for tasks during space flight by training in a high gravity suit. Computer image analysis of movements, tensodynamography, and myotonometry were used to analyze movement in the hypergravity suit, muscle response, and other biomechanical factors. Results showed that training in the hypergravity suit improved the biomechanics of motor performance.  相似文献

本工作观察了在超重(2G)环境中出生、生态4个月后返回正常(1G)环境的Long-Evans大鼠运动行为的改变和恢复,以及相关脑区Fos表达水平的变化,并与旋转刺激(重力变化的对照组)和去前庭传入大鼠相比较,结果表明:重力的变化导致实验大鼠表态和运行行为模式改变,伸肌张力增加,运动平衡、游泳定向和空中翻正的能力降低,对1G环境再适应的时程因行为的不同而异,其中游泳定向能力的恢复时间最长,长于1个月,旋转只对运动行为有短暂的影响。Fos表达被认为是揭示参与应答感觉刺激而功能活跃脑区的有用工具。结果显示,正常和毁迷路的对照大鼠的Fos呈低水平表达,减重刺激使上、下丘脑和围导水管灰质、中缝背核及孤束核的水平显著上调,相反,下橄榄、蓝斑和前庭核团的Fos水平没有明显改变,表明脑干对不同重力刺激存在不同的调控神经途径。  相似文献

The explanation of the mechanism of the response to gravity changes is of great importance for the determination of the capacity of human subjects to adapt to the load of gravitational stress. Therefore several studies were performed to investigate the activity of endocrine system, since the hormones are involved in the regulation of physiological functions and metabolic processes. However the studies of endocrine system activity during altered gravity conditions, especially during the weightlessness are influenced by the several interventions in biomedical observations due to operational program of astronauts, wide variability in individual response and tolerance, use of extensive countermeasures, differences in the type of space missions and in the studies after landing also a hypergravity effect at landing and variability in postflight readaptation process. The significant changes of plasma insulin and glucose levels were observed in astronauts during space flights and in the first days of recovery period. In the first inflight period plasma insulin levels were increased, unchanged or decreased however after 4-5 weeks of exposure to weightlessness a decrease of insulin plasma levels were noted. After space flights an increase of plasma insulin levels were demonstrated in experimental animals and in human subjects. Since plasma insulin level is considered as most important factor involved in the regulation for insulin receptors in target tissues, an investigation of insulin receptors in various tissues was performed in rats exposed to space flight or to hypokinesia (model used for simulation of some effects of microgravity).  相似文献

Objective:the purpose of this study was to identify differences in hamstring passive stiffness between the pre-season and in-season periods.Methods:Hamstring strength and passive stiffness were measured in professional male soccer players before and after the pre-season (4 weeks), and after the in-season (6 weeks) periods using an isokinetic dynamometer. Muscle passive stiffness was determined from the slope of the passive torque–angle relationship. External loads (acceleration and jumps) were monitored by GPS and internal loads by questionnaire.Results:Hamstring passive stiffness increased after 10 weeks of training and matches, without changes in passive peak torque and range of motion. The hamstring passive stiffness modifications were associated with the volume and intensity of accelerations and jumps. The individual data analysis also provided some support for the suppression of the biomechanical adaptation in the subjects with relatively large external load.Conclusions:Regular training and match workouts increase hamstring passive stiffness in professional soccer players but the adaptation of muscle-tendon unit passive elements might not occur if players experience excessive mechanical stress.  相似文献
