Females are less fatigable than males during isometric contractions across various muscles and intensities. However, sex differences in knee-extensor fatigability remain relatively unexplored. Purpose: To determine the sex difference in performance fatigability for intermittent, isometric contractions of the knee-extensor muscles. Methods: Eighteen participants (10 males, 8 females) performed intermittent, isometric, knee-extensor contractions at 30% of their maximal voluntary force (MVC) for 30 min and in a separate session at 50% MVC until task-failure. During both fatiguing protocols a MVC was performed every 60 s and electromyography (EMG) was recorded during all contractions. Results: At task completion males had a larger reduction in MVC force for the 30% MVC task (−32 ± 15% vs. −15 ± 16%, P = 0.042) and the 50% MVC task (−34 ± 8% vs. −24 ± 1%, P = 0.045). Furthermore, for the 50% MVC task, females had a longer task duration (937 ± 525 s vs. 397 ± 153 s, P = 0.007). The rise in EMG activity and force fluctuations were more rapid for the males than females (P < 0.05). When participants were matched for strength post hoc (n = 10), a sex difference in fatigability for both tasks was still evident. Conclusions: Females were less fatigable than males during intermittent, isometric, knee-extensor contractions at moderate relative forces and this difference was independent of strength.  相似文献

The aim was to assess the effects of sex and age on fatigability and recovery from sustained maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) of the knee extensor muscles. The central (central activation ratio (CAR) and electrical activity amplitude) and peripheral (electrically evoked torque and muscle contractile properties) factors contributing to fatigue and recovery of 24 young adults (12 males) aged 23.2 ± 3.6 years and 20 older adults (12 males) aged 70.6 ± 4.4 years were compared. The increase in central and peripheral fatigue was greater (p  0.01) in the young adults vs the older adults. Sex differences (p = 0.002) regarding MVC were attributed to the greater (p < 0.01) peripheral fatigue of males vs females. The recovery rate of MVC was greater (p < 0.001) in the young adults vs the older adults, with no sex effect. The recovery of MVC was correlated with the CAR in older adults (p = 0.001). Thus, the greater endurance observed with age is caused by differences in central and peripheral mechanisms, whereas the greater endurance in females is caused by a difference in a mechanism located within the muscle. The impaired recovery from fatigue in older adults relied more on the recovery of central factors.  相似文献

IntroductionCutting is an important skill in team-sports, but unfortunately is also related to non-contact ACL injuries. The purpose was to examine knee kinetics and kinematics at different cutting angles.Material and methods13 males and 16 females performed cuts at different angles (45°, 90°, 135° and 180°) at maximum speed. 3D kinematics and kinetics were collected. To determine differences across cutting angles (45°, 90°, 135° and 180°) and sex (female, male), a 4 × 2 repeated measures ANOVA was conducted followed by post hoc comparisons (Bonferroni) with alpha level set at α  0.05 a priori.ResultsAt all cutting angles, males showed greater knee flexion angles than females (p < 0.01). Also, where males performed all cutting angles with no differences in the amount of knee flexion −42.53° ± 8.95°, females decreased their knee flexion angle from −40.6° ± 7.2° when cutting at 45° to −36.81° ± 9.10° when cutting at 90°, 135° and 180° (p < 0.01). Knee flexion moment decreased for both sexes when cutting towards sharper angles (p < 0.05). At 90°, 135° and 180°, males showed greater knee valgus moments than females. For both sexes, knee valgus moment increased towards the sharper cutting angles and then stabilized compared to the 45° cutting angle (p < 0.01). Both females and males showed smaller vGRF when cutting to sharper angles (p < 0.01).ConclusionIt can be concluded that different cutting angles demand different knee kinematics and kinetics. Sharper cutting angles place the knee more at risk. However, females and males handle this differently, which has implications for injury prevention.  相似文献

Background: This study aimed to investigate the incidence trends of colorectal cancer by sex and subsite, in East Anglia from 1971 to 2005. Methods: Using data from the Eastern Cancer Registration and Information Centre, we examined the time trends and the effect of age, period of diagnosis and birth cohort on the incidence of colorectal cancer by sex and subsite. Results: Between 1971 and 2005, 23 875 males and 22 651 females were registered with colorectal cancer in East Anglia. During this period, the increase in the incidence trends was higher among males, more recent periods of diagnosis, and proximal colon. Cohort effects were statistically significant in distal and rectal cancers in males (p < 0.001 and p = 0.05, respectively), and in proximal colon in females (p < 0.001). Period effects were statistically significant across all subsites and both sexes (p < 0.001 for all). Conclusions: Period effects were significant across all subsites for both sexes, whereas cohort effects varied in their significance levels depending on subsite and sex. We suggest that the period effect may be due to an increase in the use of colonoscopy for diagnostic or opportunistic screening, and the cohort effect may be due to aetiological differences in CRC between sexes and subsites.  相似文献

We measured diurnal rhythms of food intake, as well as body weight and composition, while varying three major classes of sex-biasing factors: activational and organizational effects of gonadal hormones, and sex chromosome complement (SCC). Four Core Genotypes (FCG) mice, comprising XX and XY gonadal males and XX and XY gonadal females, were either gonad-intact or gonadectomized (GDX) as adults (2.5 months); food intake was measured second-by-second for 7 days starting 5 weeks later, and body weight and composition were measured for 22 weeks thereafter. Gonadal males weighed more than females. GDX increased body weight/fat of gonadal females, but increased body fat and reduced body weight of males. After GDX, XX mice had greater body weight and more fat than XY mice. In gonad-intact mice, males had greater total food intake and more meals than females during the dark phase, but females had more food intake and meals and larger meals than males during the light phase. GDX reduced overall food intake irrespective of gonad type or SCC, and eliminated differences in feeding between groups with different gonads. Diurnal phase of feeding was influenced by all three sex-biasing variables. Gonad-intact females had earlier onset and acrophase (peak) of feeding relative to males. GDX caused a phase-advance of feeding, especially in XX mice, leading to an earlier onset of feeding in GDX XX vs. XY mice, but earlier acrophase in GDX males relative to females. Gonadal hormones and SCC interact in the control of diurnal rhythms of food intake.  相似文献

The developmental time and survival of overwintering Sericinus montela Gray pupae were studied at four constant temperatures (15.0, 20.0, 25.0, and 30.0 °C), 40 ± 10% relative humidity, and 10:14 h light:dark cycle. The developmental time of both sexes decreased with increasing temperature between 15.0 °C (70.18 days for females and 55.28 days for males) and 30.0 °C (19.60 days for females and 13.78 days for males). The development periods of females were longer than those of males at each constant temperature. The relationship between the developmental rate and temperature was fitted by a linear model and a nonlinear developmental rate model (Lactin 1). The mortality of overwintered S. montela pupae was lowest at 25.0 °C (16.7%) and highest at 15.0 °C (36.7%). The lower developmental thresholds were 12.38 and 12.16 °C for females and males, respectively. The distribution of development completion for females and males was described by the two-parameter Weibull distribution equation (r2 = 0.87 for females and r2 = 0.94 for males). The date for the cumulative 50% adult emergence was within one or two days of that predicted using the Lactin 1 model. The temperature-dependent developmental model for S. montela could be applied to predict the timing of spring emergence in different geographical locations and will be helpful in developing a full-cycle phenology model for S. montela.  相似文献

Many polygynous ungulates show higher mortality of males than of females, because of the intense male–male competition during the rut and the costs associated with the development of sexual-size dimorphism. In the weakly dimorphic Alpine chamois Rupicapra rupicapra the occurrence of differential sex-specific survival strategies is controversial. To date, only two studies investigated the survivorship of males and females in this species, producing conflicting results: these works, based on the use of life tables, require confirmation from researches carried out on living populations. We assessed the survival pattern of a protected Alpine chamois population in the Swiss National Park, where 116 individuals were marked and monitored over 13 years (1996–2008). We tested for sex-, age- and year-dependence of survival by means of capture-mark-resight models. Resighting probabilities were sex-dependent, and survival rates were time-dependent. Females had higher resighting probabilities (0.84) than males (0.74). All over the time periods, sex had a weak influence on survival probability (males = 0.91; females = 0.92) and survival rates remained surprisingly high until late age (1 year = 0.90; 2–7 years = 0.91; 8+ years = 0.92). The growing evidence for a high adult survival and a weak differential mortality of the two sexes, together with the highly seasonal sexual-size dimorphism observed for Alpine chamois, might indicate the occurrence of a unique conservative survival strategy in both sexes and a low-risk mating strategy by males.  相似文献

Data on linear body measurements (LBM) of 403 sheep collected in three areas of KwaZulu-Natal were utilized to develop a prediction equation for live body weight of Zulu sheep. Data were collected on live weight (LW), heart girth (HG), wither height (WH) and scrotum circumference (SC) on sheep of all ages. The age of sheep was estimated by dentition. The analysis of variance showed that age and sex were important factors contributing to variation in LW of Zulu sheep. Phenotypic correlation coefficients and regression equations of LW on HG, WH and SC were computed within different age groups (milk set of teeth, one pair, two pairs and the three and four pairs of incisors). Low correlation coefficients (r = 0.21–0.48) between LW, HG and WH were found among the pregnant ewes. The relationship between LBM and LW was stronger (r = 0.66–0.86) for males than among females (r = 0.42–0.75). The cubic polynomial of HG was the best fit (R2 = 0.76) for the live weight prediction of young sheep with milk set of teeth. The combination of HG and WH produced the best fit for the two tooth and above males and non-pregnant females. The LW prediction equations for pregnant females were not reliable (R2 = 0.05–0.26). The SC was more precise (R2 = 0.61–0.80) when estimating the live weight of young males (<15–22-month-old) than of the older rams (R2 = 0.23–0.56). It was concluded that LW of Zulu sheep can be reasonably estimated using the HG and WH. A table could be constructed for the farmers to estimate the LW of their animals.  相似文献

In humans the cross sectional area of spinal motor neurons at L3 is larger in males than in females. Since these contribute to the control of the quadriceps femoris muscle group and are involved in the patellar reflex (PR), gender differences in the PR are expected. We have investigated this possibility using a group of 28 young subjects (14 male and 14 female) aged 20–22 years. The PR was quantified by the muscle compound action potential (MCAP) from the surface electromyogram (sEMG) of the vastus lateralis muscle. We found that the PR latency in females (17 ± 0.19 ms), was significantly (p < 0.001) faster than in males (21 ± 0.37 ms). This 4 ms difference in latency could not be ascribed to differences in stature or thigh length. In conclusion, for the age range tested females posses a significantly faster patellar reflex than males. We suggest that the slower PR latency of male subjects may arise in part from their larger α-motorneurons: such that longer integration times are required for the summation of postsynaptic excitation to be sufficient to excite α-motorneurons.  相似文献

Scope: Daily bilateral electromyography (EMG) recordings reveal muscle activation patterns implicated in asymmetric Parkinson’s disease (PD)-related functional decline. Also, daily EMG recordings reveal sex-differences in muscle activity that give rise to unique PD presentation in males and females. Purpose: Quantify handgrip strength and daily muscle quiescence through analysis of gaps in the EMG signal in males and females with PD. Bilateral daily EMG was recorded and normalized to maximal voluntary exertions (MVE). EMG gap was defined as <1% amplitude of MVE for >0.1 s and characterized as number, duration and time occupied by gaps. A dynamometer evaluated maximal grip-strength. Three-way repeated measures ANOVA examined differences in gap characteristics and strength. Gap duration was shorter (p = 0.04) and occupied less time (p = 0.02) in PD than controls. Females had fewer gaps with shorter duration (p = 0.004), occupying less time (p = 0.004) compared with males. Gaps were fewer (p = 0.04) and occupied less time (p = 0.01) on more-affected than less-affected side. PD was weaker than controls (p = 0.04), females were weaker than males (p = 0.00), and the more-affected PD side was weaker than less-affected (p = 0.04). Conclusions: Quantification of muscle quiescence through gaps in the EMG signal recorded during daily life provides insight into mechanisms underlying differential change in functional performance in males and females with PD.  相似文献

The carob moth, Ectomyelois ceratoniae (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), is the most important pest of pomegranate orchards (in terms of economic damage) within Iran, and hence, several control procedures, including biological methods of control, have been attempted as a means of controlling populations of this insect. This research was carried out in order to study the biology of Apanteles myeloenta (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), a larval parasitoid of the carob moth. Laboratory studies were conducted to determine larval developmental time, adult longevity, sex ratio, parasite progeny production, and host stage preference of A. myeloenta. At 25 ± 1 °C, immature developmental time (egg to pupa; mean ± SE) was 28.33 ± 0.85 days and 27.46 ± 0.37 days for male and females, respectively. Adult females survived on average 17.5 ± 0.14, 11.7 ± 0.22, 3.4 ± 0.18, and 2.8 ± 0.12 days at 25 C when provided with honey and water, honey only, water only or no food source, respectively. The sex ratio (females to males) of A. myeloenta was 1:3.5 from hosts parasitized in the first instar, 1:3 for second instars and 1:2 for third instar carob moth larvae. Female A. myeloenta typically preferred to parasitize second instar over third or first instar. The oviposition activity peaked on the 7th and 8th days following emergence, when provided with honey, and 10% sucrose solution, respectively.  相似文献

Ongoing development of brain systems for social behaviour renders these systems susceptible to the influence of stressors in adolescence. We previously found that adult male rats that underwent social instability stress (SS) in mid-adolescence had decreased sexual performance compared with control males (CTL). Here, we test the hypotheses that SS in adolescence decreases the “attractiveness” of male rats as sexual partners compared with CTL rats and that dominance status is a protective factor against the effects of SS. The main prediction was that females would spend more time with CTL males than SS males, and that this bias would be greater for submissive than for dominant rats. Among dominant pairs (n = 16), females preferred SS males, spending more time with and visiting more often SS than CTL males (each pair tested 5 ×), and SS males had shorter latencies to ejaculation, shorter inter-ejaculation intervals, and made more ejaculations compared with CTL males. Among submissive pairs (n = 16), females spent more time with, visited more often, and displayed more paracopulatory behaviour with CTL than with SS males, and differences in sexual performance between SS and CTL males were modest and in the opposite direction from that in dominant pairs. The heightened motivation of SS males relative to CTL males for natural rewards may have attenuated differences in sexual performance in a paced mating context. In sum, the experience of stress in adolescence leads to long-lasting changes in males that are perceptible to females, are moderated by social status, and influence sexual behaviour.  相似文献

It is unknown if females and males use jaw muscles similarly during exercise. This pilot study assessed jaw elevator muscle duty factors (DFs = time of muscle activity/total recording time) at repeated sessions to test if DFs are reliable and different between sexes during exercises in two environments. Ten female and seven male subjects recruited from university soccer teams provided informed consent. Surface electromyography was recorded from masseter and temporalis muscles during biting and leg-extension laboratory exercises. Average activities to produce 20 N bite-forces for each muscle and subject determined thresholds (5–80%·T20 N) for subject-specific DF calculations during exercises performed in laboratory and natural environments. Subjects self-recorded via portable electromyography equipment during in-field leg-extension and weight-lifting exercises. Effects of variables on DFs were assessed via ANOVA (α = 0.05) and simple effects testing (Bonferroni-adjusted p  0.012). All subjects used jaw muscles during exercises in both environments. DFs between laboratory sessions were reliable (R = 0.84). During laboratory exercises, male temporalis DFs were significantly higher than female DFs from both muscles (p  0.001). During in-field exercises females had higher DFs during weight-lifting while males had higher DFs during leg-extensions. In-field sex differences were significant at most thresholds and showed larger effect sizes for leg-extension compared to weight-lifting exercises.  相似文献

In this study, combined strategies were employed to heterologously overexpress Candida rugosa lipase Lip1 (CRL1) in a Pichia pastoris system. The LIP1 gene was systematically codon-optimized and synthesized in vitro. The Lip1 activity of a recombinant strain harboring three copies of the codon-optimized LIP1 gene reached 1200 U/mL in a shake flask culture. Higher lipase activity, 1450 U/mL, was obtained using a five copy number construct. Co-expressing one copy of the ERO1p and BiP chaperones with Lip1p, the CRL1 lipase yield further reached 1758 U/mL, which was significantly higher than that achieved by expressing Lip1p alone or only co-expressing one molecular chaperone. When cultivated in a 3 L fermenter under optimal conditions, the recombinant strain GS115/87-ZA-ERO1p-BiP #7, expressing the molecular chaperones Ero1p and BiP, produced 13,490 U/mL of lipase activity at 130 h, which was greater than the 11,400 U/mL of activity for the recombinant strain GS115/pAO815-α-mCRL1 #87, which did not express a molecular chaperone. This study indicates that a strategy of combining codon optimization with co-expression of molecular chaperones has great potential for the industrial-scale production of pure CRL1.  相似文献

Modelling landscape connectivity represents one of the central challenges for conservation of natural resources, especially in human dominated landscapes. Many different methods have been developed to this effect, but their assumptions and limitations have been largely ignored. Using high resolution GPS tracking data from brown bears (Ursus arctos) in central Italy, we investigated the influence of behavioural state (movement vs other behaviours), sex, and algorithms, namely least cost path and circuit theory, on the identification of structural corridors. In particular, considering that most studies does not account for behavioural states and/or individual characteristics, and that basically all studies consider only a single corridor algorithm, we performed (1) a within-algorithm comparison, under the hypothesis that both behavioural states and sex would influence prediction of structural corridors, and (2) a between-algorithm comparison, under the hypothesis that different algorithms would predict different corridors. We found that the impact of sex and/or behavioural state was substantial. On average, least cost path corridors for moving females were 4.7 km apart (st.dev = 7.6 km) from corridors for moving males, and 5.0 km apart (st.dev = 7.2 km) from corridors not considering sex and behaviour. The same was true for circuit theory corridors. The between-algorithm comparison showed that the two corridor models yielded almost identical results, with >80% of the least cost path corridors falling into the two top deciles for the corresponding circuit theory corridors. Our results suggest that the failure to consider an animal’s behavioural state and/or intraspecific differences may result in misidentification of corridors, with potential misallocation of the limited conservation resources available.  相似文献

ObjectiveHeight is a physical trait on a continuum. The threshold between normal and abnormal is arbitrarily set but can potentially influence medical decision-making. We sought to examine parents’ perceptions of adult heights and associated demographic factors.MethodsParents of pediatric primary care patients of various heights completed a one-time survey. Parents answered the question “How short is too short?” for adult males and females. The results were summarized as median [interquartile range]. Factors significantly associated with height threshold by simple linear regression were included in a multivariable mixed effects analysis of covariance model.ResultsA total of 1,820 surveys were completed (83% response rate, 1,587 females, 231 males). The median threshold height deemed too short for adult females was 56 inches [48, 59] among male respondents and 57 inches [50, 60] among females (P < .05). The median threshold height for adult males was 61 inches among males [60, 64] and females [59, 66] (P < .05). The median of male minus female heights per respondent (delta heights) was 5 [2, 7] inches. Factors found to be significant main effects in a parsimonious model were sex of the adult considered, height of respondent, sex of respondent, respondent race, primary care practice, income, and having concerns about their child’s height.ConclusionTaller acceptable height thresholds were perceived by respondents who were taller, wealthier, white, female, from nonurban practices, or who had a personal concern about their child’s height. Male heights were expected to be taller than female heights. Such traits may influence who is concerned and more likely to seek medical treatment for their children. Gonadectomy not only affects hormonal homeostasis but also alters the turnover of different components of the extracellular matrix in urogenital tissues. Collagen is an important component of the bladder and urethral walls and thus crucial for the mechanical properties of normal lower urinary tract (LUT) functions. This study aimed at investigating the possibility of differences in the proportion of collagen and muscle tissues in the LUT of intact and gonadectomised male and female dogs. Twenty clinically healthy dogs were used including 10 sexually intact dogs (5 males, 5 anoestrus females) and 10 gonadectomised dogs (4 males and 6 females). Four regions of the LUT, i.e. body and neck of the bladder as well as proximal and distal urethra were collected. The tissue sections were stained with Masson's Trichrome. Quantitative evaluation of the blue-stained area for collagen and red-counterstained area for muscle was performed using colour image analysis. The relative proportion of collagen and muscle significantly differed with the gonadal status, the gender and the region. Overall, gonadectomised dogs had a higher (P < 0.001) proportion of collagen and consequently a lower (P < 0.001) proportion of muscle than intact dogs. Regardless of gonadal statuses, females had a higher (P < 0.05) proportion of collagen and a lower (P < 0.05) proportion of muscle tissues than males. Gender differences were found in all four regions of the LUT in intact dogs but only in proximal urethra in gonadectomised dogs where spayed females had a higher (P < 0.05) proportion of collagen and less muscle (P < 0.05). Regional differences were observed in females; a higher proportion of collagen and therefore less muscle were found in the urethra compared with the bladder. Proportional differences in collagen and muscle between intact and gonadectomised animals suggest a relation of different hormonal statuses to structural changes in the canine LUT. Excessive collagen deposits and less muscular volume may impair structural and functional integrity of the LUT which may associate with the development of post-neutering urinary incontinence in the dog.  相似文献

We investigated whether LH secretion, estrous behavior and fertility would differ between sexually inexperienced and experienced anestrous goats exposed to the males. Male goats were rendered sexually active during the reproductive rest season by exposure to 2.5 months of artificial long days. Two groups of anovulatory sexually inexperienced and sexually experienced does were exposed to males during 15 days (n = 20 per group). LH pulsatility was determined every 15 min from 4 h before to 8 h after introducing males (Day 0). Estrous behavior was recorded twice daily. Pregnancy rates were determined on Day 50. Fertility was determined at parturition. Male sexual behavior was registered on days 1 and 2 during 1 h. Before introducing the males, the number of LH pulses did not differ between groups. After introduction of the males, all females increased their LH pulsatility, but the number of pulses did not differ between sexually inexperienced and experienced goats. The proportion of females displaying estrous behavior with a high pregnancy rate and fertility did not differ between inexperienced and experienced goats. The sexual behavior of the males did not differ significantly between those interacting with sexually inexperienced or experienced goats. We conclude that goats can show substantial endocrine and reproductive responses to males, even in the absence of previous sexual experience, when sexually active bucks are used.  相似文献

Laboratory experiments to determine aspects of the reproductive biology of Pseudaphycus maculipennis are described. All experiments were carried out at a constant temperature of 21 ± 2 °C, a 16-h photoperiod and ambient RH. Pseudaphycus maculipennis was shown to be an arrhenotokous, synovigenic, gregarious endoparasitoid of Pseudococcus viburni. Females and males lived for 16 and 11 days, respectively, when fed either honey-agar or mealybug honeydew. Relatively, large instars (third instar or adult females) were preferred for oviposition; mated females parasitized more mealybugs than unmated females, and the progeny sex ratio favored females by 3:1. Egg load increased with age from emergence to day 8, averaging 23 mature eggs/female. Mean realised daily fecundity never exceeded 5, with a mean lifetime fecundity of 46 eggs/female. Parasitised mealybugs remained alive for about 5 days and then mummified. Total development period was 20–21 days (larva 4–5 days, prepupa 3 days, pupa 8–9 days). Development periods of eggs and individual larval instars were not measured. A mean of 3.01 ± 0.1 parasitoids/mealybug were reared after individual parasitism events, increasing through super-parasitism (either self or conspecific) to 9 parasitoids/mealybug when hosts were exposed to competing females. Pseudaphycus maculipennis progeny emerged from the mummies in discrete cohorts over periods ranging from 3 min to 18 h (depending on the number of cohorts).  相似文献

We studied whether the time-varying forces that control unstable foot–ground interactions provide insight into the neural control of dynamic leg function. Twenty elite (10 F, 26.4 ± 3.5 yrs) and 20 recreational (10 F, 24.8 ± 2.4 yrs) athletes used an isolated leg to maximally compress a slender spring designed to buckle at low forces while seated. The foot forces during the compression at the edge of instability quantify the maximal sensorimotor ability to control dynamic foot–ground interactions. Using the nonlinear analysis technique of attractor reconstruction, we characterized the spatial (interquartile range IQR) and geometric (trajectory length TL, volume V, and sum of edge lengths SE) features of the dynamical behavior of those force time series. ANOVA confirmed the already published effect of sex, and a new effect of athletic ability, respectively, in TL (p = 0.014 and p < 0.001), IQR (p = 0.008 and p < 0.001), V (p = 0.034 and p = 0.002), and SE (p = 0.033 and p < 0.001). Further analysis revealed that, for recreational athletes, females exhibited weaker corrective actions and greater stochasticity than males as per their greater mean values of TL (p = 0.003), IQR (p = 0.018), V (p = 0.017), and SE (p = 0.025). Importantly, sex differences disappeared in elite athletes. These results provide an empirical link between sex, athletic ability, and nonlinear dynamical control. This is a first step in understanding the sensorimotor mechanisms for control of unstable foot–ground interactions. Given that females suffer a greater incidence of non-contact knee ligament injuries, these non-invasive and practical metrics of leg dexterity may be both indicators of athletic ability, and predictors of risk of injury.  相似文献
