The chromsome number and karyotype ofHalophytum ameghinoi (Speg.) Speg. was found to be 2n = 24 and 12m+10sm+2t, respectively. Meiosis was regular and 12 bivalents were observed. The relationships of this monotypic family are briefly discussed.  相似文献

The taxonomic positions ofRetzia, Desfontainia, andNicodemia have been much discussed, and all three genera have been included inLoganiaceae (Gentianales). We have made a cladistic analysis ofrbcL gene sequences to determine the relationships of these taxa toGentianales. Four newrbcL sequences are presented; i.e., ofRetzia, Desfontainia, Diervilla (Caprifoliaceae), andEuthystachys (Stilbaceae). Our results show thatRetzia, Desfontainia, andNicodemia are not closely related toLoganiaceae or theGentianales. Retzia is most closely related toEuthystachys and is better included inStilbaceae. The positions ofDesfontainia andNicodemia are not settled, butDesfontainia shows affinity for theDipsacales s.l. andNicodemia for theLamiales s.l.  相似文献

Within eight annual and perennialMicroseridinae species studied, the duration of the mitotic cycle is positively correlated with the nuclear DNA content, cycle time (hrs) = 7.3 + 0.32 × pg DNA/nucleus. Within the generaAgoseris andMicroseris, the annuals have lower DNA contents and more rapid mitotic cycle times than do the perennials. This relationship is predicted by the nucleotypic theory ofBennett. Annual species ofPyrrhopappus have relatively high DNA contents and a proportionately longer mitotic cycle time, but contrary to that expected by the nucleotypic theory as originally proposed have the fastest growth rate and shortest generation time observed in theMicroseridinae. This rapid developmental rate is discussed, nucleotypically, however, by analyzing relationships between DNA content, mitotic cycle time, and cell size.  相似文献

The first nauplius and 5 copepodite stages ofThalestris longimana Claus, 1863 are described. Sexual dimorphism makes its first appearance in the copepodid IV. Brief remarks are given on cultivation and on ecology of the species. Karyomorphological comparisons were made of 16 native and cultivated species ofSelaginella in Japan. The somatic chromosome numbers are 2n=16 inS. boninensis; 2n=18 inS. doederleinii, S. helvetica, S. limbata, S. lutchuensis, S. nipponica, S. selaginoides, S. tama-montana, andS. uncinata; 2n=20 inS. biformis, S. involvens, S. moellendorffii, S. remotifolia, andS. tamariscina; 2n=30 inS. rossii; and 2n=32 inS. heterostachys. The interphase nuclei of all species examined are uniformly assigned to the simple chromocenter type. The metaphase karyotype of 2n=16 (x=8) is 8 m (=median centromeric chromosomes)+8(st+t)(=subterminal and terminal). The group of the species having 2n=18 (x=9) is heterogeneous karyomorphologically: The karyotype ofS. nipponica is 2n=18=6 m+12(st+t),S. tama-montana 10 m+2 sm(=submedian)+6(st+t), andS. uncinata 6 m+7 sm+5(st+t). Although the remaining five species have the common karyotype 8 m+4 sm+6(st+t), the values of mean chromosome length are variable. Another group of the specles having 2n=20 (x=10) is homogeneous, since all species have the same karyotypes 8 m+4 sm+8(st+t) and have similar chromosome size. The karyotype of 2n=30 is 12 m+6 sm+12(st+t) and is suggested to be a triploid of x=10, and 2n=32=16m+16(st+t), a tetraploid of x=8. Thus, three kinds of basic chromosome numbers, x=8, 9, 10 are present in JapaneseSelaginella examined, and their karyomorphological relationships are discussed.  相似文献

A broad survey of available world literature showed that at least 98 wildLactuca spp. (Asteraceae) have been described taxonomically. The distribution of the genusLactuca worldwide includes 17 species in Europe, 51 in Asia, 43 in Africa, and 12 in the Americas (mostly the North American subcontinent). Species originating in Asia, Africa, and the Americas form ca. 83% of knownLactuca spp. richness; however, they are very poorly documented from the viewpoint of taxonomic relationships, ecogeography, and variability. The phytogeography ofLactuca spp. regarding their distribution on different continents and in relation to the structure of the lettuce gene pool is discussed. A more detailed analysis of geographical distribution and habitats is given for some species (L. serriola, L. saligna, L. virosa, L. perennis, L. quercina, L. tatarica), which represent the primary, secondary, and tertiary gene pools of cultivated lettuce (L. sativa). Original and synanthropic distributions ofLactuca spp. and their occurrence in natural and secondary habitats are discussed, along with the representation of wildLactuca spp. in world gene-bank collections. Global biodiversity ofLactuca spp. and their representation in germplasm collections are poorly documented. Future studies of taxonomy, phytogeography, ecology, phylogenetic relationships, and genetic diversity are needed for a more complete understanding of this genus and taxonomically related genera.  相似文献

Ubiquinone system, GC contents and cellular fatty acid (CFA) composition were analyzed as criteria for chemotaxonomy ofMalbranchea species andCoccidioides immitis, which are suggested to be phylogenetically related. Based on the major ubiquinone,Malbranchea spp. were divided into two groups, of which one group possessed the same major ubiquinone asC. immitis. Similar GC contents and CFA profiles were obtained for the species ofMalbranchea andC. immitis. On the basis of these criteria the relationships between the fungi are discussed.  相似文献

Species boundaries and phylogenetic relationships of 17 taxa ofAnthriscus (Apiaceae), with special emphasis on the critical sect.Cacosciadium, were explored using morphological data with principal component analysis, phenetics, and phylogenetics. The analyses did not provide satisfactory resolution of taxa from sect.Cacosciadium and only four species were retained. The total number of species was reduced to nine. Sect.Cacosciadium is distinguished by only two synapomorphies while sects.Anthriscus andCaroides are better supported. Present geographic and ecological variation suggests that the radiation ofAnthriscus occurred through divergence of peripheral isolated populations adapting to different habitats: high montane meadows and screes, shady climax forests, and seasonally dry habitats at lower altitudes. The adaptive significance of particular morphological traits is discussed.  相似文献

Plant material ofCalamintha menthifolia was collected from two populations grown in the Vikos-Aoos area (NW. Greece). The structure and ontogeny of the glandular trichomes and the chemical composition of the secreted essential oil were studied. The leaves ofC. menthifolia have numerous glandular trichomes of three morphological distinct types: 1) glandular scales with a unicellular foot and stalk, and a 12-celled head, 2) glandular hairs with a unicellular foot and stalk, and a unicellular pear-shaped head and 3) glandular hairs with a unicellular foot, a bicellular stalk and a unicellular elongated head. Qualitative and quantitative GC-MS analyses of the essential oils revealed piperitone oxide as the main constituent in both populations. In the light of these results the relationships beweenC. menthifolia and other members of theSatureja group as well as its taxonomy are discussed.  相似文献

The evolution and taxonomic relationships in theTriticeae are discussed with the view to highlight aspects of this agronomically important group of plants, which may be of interest to molecular biology. Some of these aspects are addressed in more detail in adjoining papers in which specific genomic loci have been examined at the DNA sequence or isozyme level. Aspects discussed include the systematics and geographic distribution of theTriticeae species, isozyme and chromosome pairing studies on some of the species as well as more recent developments in DNA analyses. A survey of the systematics of theTriticeae indicated that the genomic system ofLöve is probably the most useful starting point for interpreting molecular data even though the system has many problems from a taxonomic point of view. The geographical distribution ofTriticeae species, using both published and unpublished data, suggested that information of this type taken together with the theory of continental drift provides a broad time-span for considering data from DNA sequence studies. The significance, and modes of analyses, of isozyme studies were assessed because they often provide valuable characters in determining relationships between species. The main character underlyingLöve's andDewey's analyses of theTriticeae, namely chromosome pairing, is discussed with particular reference to isozyme studies to show that in some cases, such as species ofHordeum sensu lato, consistent relationships are obtained. Finally, new developments in understanding chromosome structure are considered in relation to the above variables in the taxonomy and evolution of theTriticeae.  相似文献

Various classes of individuals were removed from three captive groups of squirrel monkeys and effects measured on the frequencies of nonagonistic interactions of the remaining individuals. Results indicated that there are regularities in the effects of certain classes of dyadic relationships on others which may be considered species-typical structuring mechanisms ofSaimiri social groups and which account for in consistencies which have appeared between experimentally identified social preferences of adults of this species and their actual behavior in social groups. A tentative process model ofSaimiri social structure and its seasonally changing character is presented and implications of this kind of analytical model for studies of evolution and adaptation are briefly discussed.  相似文献

Three new species ofRelbunium, R. humilioides, R. catarinense, andR. longipedunculatum (Rubiaceae), endemic in the southern states of Brazil, are described. Flavonoid patterns from two-dimensional thin layer chromatography and peroxidase patterns from gel electrophoresis are presented for two of them. A systematic revision of the family Atoposauridae is presented, interpreting and reviewing their relationships. The seventy‐one characters have been divided into cranial, postcranial and metric which have been used in three separate cladistic analyses in order to discuss their concordance. Polarities, in each case, have been deduced from distinct outgroups. We have used a PHYLIP program (version 2.9). There are five valid taxa of Atoposauridae: Alligatorellus beaumonti (rejecting the two subspecific taxa) Alligatorium meyeri, Theriosuchus pusillus. Alligatorium depereti (which is transferred to a new genus Montsecosuchus) and Aloposaurus (discussed as a nomen dubium). The three cladograms are not fully concordant. The relative level of derivation in postcranial and cranial characters suggests congruence. The metric traits seem to retain, in general, a primitive condition. The final proposed cladogram clusters Alligatorium + Alligatorellus as the sister group of Montsecosuchus + Theriosuchus.  相似文献

Summary The DNA's ofMicrococcus lysodeikticus andClostridium perfringens were fragmented to about 7 000 nucleotide pairs long by shear and fractionated with respect to buoyant density of mercury complexes in Cs2SO4. The distribution of G + C content in both DNA's was characteristically asymmetric. InM. lysodeikticus DNA, low G + C fragments were more numerous than high G + C fragments, whereas inC. perfringens DNA, high G + C fragments were more numerous than low G + C fragments. The G + C content of fragments ofM. lysodeikticus DNA varied from 70 to 77%, with a mean and standard deviation of 73.7 ± 1.92% G + C and that ofC. perfringens DNA varied from 27 to 34%, with a mean and standard deviation of 29.8 ± 1.34% G + C. The standard deviation was smaller than that ofEscherichia coli DNA fragments of similar size. Biological meanings of relatively low heterogeneity in nucleotide composition inM. lysodeikticus andC. perfringens are discussed.  相似文献

The number and distribution of chiasmata per cell at diakinesis has been analyzed in four populations ofDicladispa testacea (L.) and in two ofPolyconia caroli Lepr. both having 2n=16 and a 7+Xyp male melotic formula. Most bivalents were unichiasmate and the distal chiasma position was the one most frequently encountered. One population ofDicladispa testacea could be distinguished from the remaining ones by the total number of chiasmata per cell. This intraspecific difference is discussed in relation with the degree of isolation between the four populations and other geographical characteristics.  相似文献

Separate independent hypotheses of the phylogenetic relationships among the Platyrrhini monkeys have been produced in a recent past, either based upon morphological or molecular data, but the results are generally conflicting and the phylogeny of the group still is debated. The high host specificity observed among primates and their oxyurid parasites allows to consider the result of a morphologically based cladistic analysis of the pinworms of the Platyrrhini as an estimate of the phylogeny of these monkeys. Using the matrix representation method this “parasite-tree” is combined, using parsimony analysis, with several conflicting molecular or morphological hypothesis of the phylogeny of the host group. The results are discussed with respect to previously published classification, or composite computations of the phylogeny, of the Neotropical monkeys. Comparison of different hypothesis makes apparent several stable groups: (i) the Callithrichidae +Saimiri,(ii) the Atelidae/Alouattidae, (iii) the Pitheciidae, and (iv) the Alouattidae/Atelidae + Pitheciidae. In addition, the parasite and the molecular trees support close relationships betweenCallimicoandCallithrix/Cebuella.The study also makes apparent that the parasite tree generally portrays the results of other studies, both when they are congruous and when they are conflicting. This is interpreted to be additional evidence for close coevolution between the Platyrrhini and their specific pinworms. Because, whatever the combination of data being considered no consensus can be found on the exact position ofAotusandCallicebus,and because it is likely that the earliest radiation of the Platyrrhini could be comparable to an evolutionary burst, which renders identification of homologous characters difficult, it is suggested that, possibly, not enough discriminating tracks of the evolutionary paths have been conserved to allow to resolve this uncertainty in the future.  相似文献
