柄杆菌对固氮蓝藻生物量和色素的影响研究结果表明:多态柄杆菌(Caulobacter polymorphus)017-41或新月柄杆菌(Caulobacter creseentus)CB_2的活菌、死菌及破碎细胞悬液分别与鱼腥藻(Anabaena)、念珠藻(Nostoc)不同藻珠混合培养时,试验组生长量均优于对照组;对衰老黄化的藻培养物的生长刺激作用尤为显著;试验组藻培养物的藻蓝或藻红素含量亦明显高于对照组。其作用机理尚待进一步阐明。  相似文献

Summary Extracellular products of Chlorococcum and Chlamydomonas were isolated from culture filtrates. Five groups of substances were found in both species: (i) steam-volatile acids, (ii) yellow water-soluble phenolic compounds, (iii) lipophilic substances, (iv) proteins and (v) polysaccharides. Chlorococcum had higher concentrations of all groups than Chlamydomonas; moreover, the two species differed slightly in the composition of groups (ii) and (iii). Probably, these is a great similarity between green algae in the production of extracellular compounds.  相似文献

本文用六种固氮蓝藻的提取液处理玉米种子,同时对其提取液氨基酸组成和碳水化合物与维生素B12的含量进行了分析。结果表明固氮鱼腥藻HB686(AnabaenaazoticaHB686)、球孢鱼腥藻HB1017(A.sphaericaHB1017)、多变鱼腥藻HB1058(A.variabilisHB1058)和小单歧藻HBTT(TolypothrixtenuisHBTT)的提取液中氨基酸、碳水化合物和维生素B12的含量高于鱼腥藻SP.HB1042(Anabaenasp.HB1042)和繁育管链藻HB38(AulosirafertilissimaHB38)。同时,促进玉米种子萌发和幼苗生长的效果前四种藻较好,后两种则较差。  相似文献

The nutritional value of several planktonic algae was testedby means of feeding trials with three cladoceran zooplankters.The algae were monocultures and included two blue-greens, fourgreens and four flagellates with a size range of 5–48µm. The specific growth rates of the zooplankters werechosen as the measure of the nutritional value of the algae.The three cladocerans showed large differences in growth ratein the different algae, but the two cryptomonads were withoutdoubt best suited as food for all. The fatty acid compositionfor the cryptomonads were different from the other algae. Theycontained high percentages of the polyunsaturated fatty acids20:5æ3 (EPA) and 22:6æ3 (DHA), which also are commonin fish. It is suggested that the lipid composition is a probablefactor determining the nutritional quality of the algae.  相似文献

Summary A study has been made of the productivity and periodicity of phytoplankton of the Indrasagar tank, Udaipur, in relation to physicochemical characteristics. Variations in the physical and chemical characteristics of water over a period of one year are described.The Tank is of eutrophic type. Green algae dominated the phytoplankton both as regards number of species and number of individuals.A definite phytoplankton periodicity has been observed, the green algae dominating in the rainy and winter seasons and the blue-greens during summer.A correlation of the phytoplankton productivity and physicochemical characteristics of Indrasagar tank indicates that the Chlorophyceae have a wide range of adaptability; the growth of diatoms is promoted by silica, nitrates and phosphates; and the growth of blue-green algae is controlled by pH and temperature.  相似文献

The typical morphology of Monostroma oxyspermum (Kütz.) Doty is lost in axenic culture. In synthetic media of the ASP type, it grows as a colony-like mass composed of round cells with numerous rhizoids. Such a mass is a fragile structure which falls apart upon shaking, or slight touch, into small cell-groups and single cells or cells with a long rhizoid. Only temporary saccate or monostromatic fronds appear and reach 1–2 mm in length when grown in enriched seawater media, but disintegrate and become a colony-like mass. The typical morphology is easily restored by adding at specific intervals filtrates of bacterial cultures and supernatant medium from axenic brown and red algal cultures to the basal medium (ASP7), or by reinfecting the Monostroma with an appropriate bacterial flora. Furthermore, the typical morphology in also maintained by bialgal cultures between Monostroma and other axenic strains of various species of seaweeds except the species belonging to the Chlorophyceae. Monostroma thus appears to utilize some substances released by most species of brown and red algae for its typical growth. Active substances released by bacteria, brown and red algae have not yet been identified and purified. However, it is demonstrated that in axenic cultures many species of seaweeds produce active extracellular substances which play an important role in growth and Morphogenesis of other species of seaweeds.  相似文献

To characterize the mobilization and uptake of iron by cyanobacteria, 14 species were screened for ability to scavenge iron in a competitive system. The cyanobacteria exhibited a range of growth responses to iron limitation which could be separated into three groups, and a representative species from each group was chosen for further study. Effects of iron-limitation on growth and siderophore production of Anacystis nidulans R2, Anabaena variabilis ATCC 29413, and Plectonema boryanum UTEX 581 were determined. Both A. nidulans R2 and A. variabilis showed a reduced rate of growth with decreased available iron concentration (PFe 17–19). Growth rates increased with further reduction in the level of available iron (pFe 20 to pFe 21). The increase in growth rate occurred at the same available iron concentration as the initiation of extracellular siderophore production. In contrast, the growth of P. boryanum decreased with decreasing available iron levels. No siderophore production was detected from P. boryanum cultures. The growth kinetics of siderophore-producing species differ from traditional nutrient-limited growth kinetics and clearly reflect the presence of a high affinity, siderophore-mediated iron transport system in A. nidulans R2 and A. variabilis. Iron-limited growth kinetics more similar to traditional nutrient-limited growth kinetics were found in P. boryanum. The available nitrogen source influenced amount of siderophore produced and concentration of available iron which induced siderophore production. Siderophores were produced at high iron concentrations (pFe 18) when A. variablilis cultures were grown in the absence of combined nitrogen source. When nitrate was supplied to the culture, iron concentrations had to be reduced to pFe 20 before siderophores were produced. Cells grown on nitrogen also produced greater than two times the amount of siderophore compared with nitrate grown cells. This may be indicative of an increased demand for iron by nitrogen fixing A. variabilis Cultures.  相似文献

Summary The culture fluids from two Cellvibrio strains, in the stationary phase of growth, are shown to contain heat-resistant, low molecular weight substances with antibiotic-like effects on blue-green algae. Morphological changes and lysis of cells were observed in various species of blue-green algae; ultrastructural changes were noted in the cell walls of growing vegetative cells of Anabaena inaequalis. The viability of resting cells, including heterocysts and akinetes was not affected.  相似文献

The effect of different concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus on extracellular release was investigated. Phosphorus induced the enhanced extracellular release of metabolites by Chlorella vulgaris. No influence of nitrogen on extracellular release was observed. In the initial stages of C. vulgaris culture the algae release was observed. In the initial stages of C. vulgaris culture the algae release compounds readily assimilated by the accompanying bacteria, hence the observed drop of percentage of extracellular release (PER) in culture medium caused by the bacteria. Both, the glycolic acid and the products of photoassimilation released to the environment in the first stages of cultivation were assimilated by the bacteria accompanying-algae at a similar rate. The ageing of C. vulgaris culture resulted in the accumulation of extracellularly released metabolites and increase of PER. These products were not assimilated by the bacteria present in the algal culture.  相似文献

1. In 1993 the south basin of Squaw Lake, Wisconsin, U.S.A., was artificially circulated and injected with CO2 in an attempt to eliminate the massive quantities of blue-greens normally present during summer. The unmixed, uninjected north basin was the control. Despite a great difference in CO2 concentration and in pH between the two basins, their blue-green maxima began simultaneously and eventually reached the same size. The predominant algae in both basins were Aphanizomenon flos-aquae and Anabaena flos-aquae. 2. From 13 May to 9 September, experiments were done to determine the responses of photosynthesis (oxygen production) of the phytoplankton communities in both basins to changes in pH over the range 7–9. Both the north and south basins underwent two distinct shifts in the slopes of their photosynthetic responses to pH. These shifts paralleled changes in the proportion of blue-greens in their phytoplankton. 3. Experiments with additions of KHCO3 or NaHCO3 showed that the responses to pH were really responses to CO2 concentration. Therefore, the data obtained in the photosynthesis experiments were used to calculate the kinetic parameters Ks* and Vmax*. The Ks* values varied in relation to the proportion of blue-greens, with lower values during the period when blue-greens predominated. The Vmax*values showed no such systematic changes. 4. CO2 compensation and zero photosynthesis concentrations confirm that when the blue-greens dominated, CO2 was taken up much more efficiently than when the phytoplankton comprised mostly non-blue-greens. No evidence appeared suggesting direct use of bicarbonate even at pH values of 10.0. 5. Experiments with water collected seasonally from four other lakes show that Squaw Lake is not unique. In each case the response slopes (and therefore Ks* values) were high during spring when non-blue-greens were dominant, but decreased when the blue-green maximum began. 6. Experiments with individual species of algae confirm that blue-greens generally have better CO2 kinetics than do greens. 7. It is concluded that initiation of the blue-green maximum does not depend upon conditions of low CO2 concentration or high pH. However, once the blue-greens become abundant they ensure their dominance by reducing concentrations of CO2 to levels available only to themselves.  相似文献

We examined the proportions of major Betaproteobacteria subgroups within bacterial communities in diverse nonaxenic, monospecific cultures of algae or cyanobacteria: four species of cryptophyta (genera Cryptomonas and Rhodomonas), four species of chlorophyta (genera Pediastrum, Staurastrum, and Chlamydomonas), and two species of cyanobacteria (genera Dolichospermum and Aphanizomenon). In the cryptophyta cultures, Betaproteobacteria represented 48 to 71% of total bacteria, the genus Limnohabitans represented 18 to 26%, and the Polynucleobacter B subcluster represented 5 to 16%. In the taxonomically diverse chlorophyta group, the genus Limnohabitans accounted for 7 to 45% of total bacteria. In contrast, cyanobacterial cultures contained significantly lower proportions of the Limnohabitans bacteria (1 to 3% of the total) than the cryptophyta and chlorophyta cultures. Notably, largely absent in all of the cultures was Polynucleobacter necessarius (Polynucleobacter C subcluster). Subsequently, we examined the growth of Limnohabitans strains in the presence of different algae or their extracellular products (EPP). Two strains, affiliated with Limnohabitans planktonicus and Limnohabitans parvus, were separately inoculated into axenic cultures of three algal species growing in an inorganic medium: Cryptomonas sp., Chlamydomonas noctigama, and Pediastrum boryanum. The Limnohabitans strains cocultured with these algae or inoculated into their EPP consistently showed (i) pronounced population growth compared to the control without the algae or EPP and (ii) stronger growth stimulation of L. planktonicus than of L. parvus. Overall, growth responses of the Limnohabitans strains cultured with algae were highly species specific, which suggests a pronounced niche separation between two closely related Limnohabitans species likely mediated by different abilities to utilize the substrates produced by different algal species.  相似文献

Cultures of the plankton diatoms Skeletonema costatum (Greville) Cleve, Thalassiosira nordenskioeldii Cleve, and Lauderia annulata Cleve were grown in sea-water samples collected in the inner Oslofjord on 11 occasions between February, 1976 and January, 1977. The growth experiments were carried out in silicone-coated culture flasks, with nitrate, phosphate, and silicate added in excess, and under standardized conditions of a temperature of 10 °C and a saturating light intensity. Growth rates, as measured during exponential growth over a period of 5–6 days, were, with very few exceptions, close to the maximum rates obtained in a complete medium. The addition of ethylenediaminetetra-acetic acid (EDTA) to the water samples did not lead to improved growth, nor did EDTA have an effect on the initial lag phase. The lack of a seasonal variation in the observed growth responses was in marked contrast to the large fluctuations in the phytoplankton populations in the fjord. These findings give no support to the hypothesis that species successions among marine plankton diatoms are influenced by organic chelators or other extracellular substances produced by planktonic algae.  相似文献

Synopsis Algal growth and damselfish (Eupomacentrus planifrons) territories were studied in two reef habitats at Discovery Bay, Jamaica. Damselfish territories were contiguous in the reef flat (0 to 2.5 m), where the algal composition and biomass varied from territory to territory. In contrast, on the lower reef terrace (22 m), damselfish territories were often spatially segregated. While the algal composition of the territories was more uniform on the reef terrace, the total algal biomass was lower than in the territories on the reef flat. Damselfish are largely herbivorous, and they defend their territories against most intruding fish, including a number of herbivorous species. Areas of the reef terrace outside of damselfish territories were heavily grazed by herbivorous fishes and contained only small quantities of non-crustose algae.The reef terrace territories were characterized by a multispecific turf of algae (greens, blue-greens, and reds) covering the Acropora cervicornis framework and by the leafy, brown alga, Lobophora variegata. A rapid reduction in the biomass of brown algae and filamentous algae was noted when damselfish were permanently removed from their territories. Only calcified, encrusting algae — plants apparently somewhat undesirable as fish food sources — would be common on the terrace zone of this reef if damselfish territories were absent. Damselfish territoriality may significantly influence the dynamics of some reefs by increasing the biomass of the algal turf thereby increasing; reef productivity. Since blue-green algae, potential nitrogen fixers, occur in these algal turfs, the fish may also be indirectly affecting reef nutrition.  相似文献

Fatty acid (FA), total lipid, protein, amino acid, carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus content was analyzed in 24 samples of freshwater microalgae. The samples originated from batch, continuous, or mass cultures in various growth phases and from net samples from lakewater. FA were analyzed quantitatively by using an internal standard in a GLC system and expressed as mg·g?1 dry weight (DW). The FA of one group of blue-greens (e.g. Oscillatoria and Microcystis) were similar to those of the greens with higher amounts of 18C acids of the ω3 type compared to the ω6 type, whereas the other group (e.g. Anabaena and Spirulina) contained mostly ω6 acids. The flagellates, a taxonomically diverse group, were characterized by high amounts of long-chained (20–22 C) polyunsaturated FA (PUFA), particularly of the ω3 type. The ω3/ω6 ratio appears to be highest in algae in the exponential growth phase. The increased lipid content in stressed algae was mostly due to increased saturated fatty acids and ω6 acids, whereas the valuable ω3 acids were unchanged or even decreased. Amino acid composition (% of total amino acids) did not vary much betaken species, but when analyzed quantitatively (mg-g?1 DW), varied considerably between species and within species in different growth phases. The nitrogen and phosphorus contents were variable in all three algal groups. The relationship between PUFA and phosphorus content differed among the algal groups. The data suggest that PUFA in the phospholipids consist mostly ω3 acids.  相似文献

Blue-green benthic algae are represented in Kinneret by numerous taxa but biomasses produced by them are inconspicuous. Diatoms, although less diversified show overwhelming biological activity. A comparative insight into the flora of the lake and the surrounding springs reveals many species in common, of which the diatoms develop the richest biomasses on the lake littoral, while the blue-greens reach their maximal biological success in the mineral and thermal springs. It is assumed that diatoms migrate from the lake to the surrounding springs, while the Cyanophyceae originating in the springs, move toward the lake. Climatic and hydrological changes, which had place throughout the geological history of the region, enhanced alternately one of the two algal groups competing for the lake's littoral, while limiting the other. Periods of high temperatures and salinities were favorable for the immigrants from the springs decreasing competitive capacity of diatoms; cold, rainy climates had opposite effect, enhancing diatoms but limiting growth of the thermophilic blue-greens on the lake shores. Vicinity of mineral and thermal springs creates constant “blue-green pressure” on the lake, which at present shows merely qualitative character but in suitable conditions may come to quantitative expression as well.  相似文献

本文分析了柴达木盆地东部和中部具有代表性地区的丘陵、戈壁和沙丘的蓝藻种类组成、生物量及主要的土壤化学成分;采用了模糊聚类、系统聚类及多元线性回归等方法分析藻类的群落及其与环境因子的关系。共鉴定出21种蓝藻,其中6种为国内首次报道。研究表明:土壤含磷量、总盐量及与粘性和湿度有关的土壤结构是决定柴达木盆地蓝藻群落组成的重要因素。  相似文献

目的:探讨3种真眼点藻(点状魏氏藻(Visderia punctata)、波氏真眼点藻(Eustigmatos polyphem)、魏氏真眼点藻(Eustigmatos vischeri))和3种绿藻(栅藻(Scnedesmus sp.)、斜生栅藻(Scenedesmus obliqulis)、爪哇栅藻(Scenedesmus jaoaensis))对2种抗生素的敏感性.方法:采用藻液细胞计数法和藻细胞固体平板培养法研究了氯霉素和硫酸新霉素对6种微藻生长的影响.结果:液体培养,3种绿藻对氯霉素敏感性均高于硫酸新霉素,10μg·mL-1氯霉素即可明显抑制3种绿藻的生长(P<0.05),而硫酸新霉素在浓度为200 μg·mL-1时才显示出明显抑制作用:3种真眼点藻对2种抗生素都不敏感.固体培养,除波氏真眼点藻外,其它5种微藻对氯霉素的致死浓度均为50μg·mL-1;波氏真眼点藻、栅藻、斜生栅藻和爪哇栅藻对硫酸新霉素的致死浓度分别为100 μg·mL-1、200μg· mL-1、50μg·mL-1和50μg·mL-1.结论:氯霉素可作为选育6种微藻抗性突变株的筛选剂.  相似文献

One of the reasons suggested to explain the dominance of blue-greens in eutrophic lakes is that they are not used as food by zooplankton; and even when ingested, they are poorly utilized.

An increase in herbivores might be the expected result of biomanipulation of the aquatic food chain. This attempt at controlling the algae population is, however, destined to fail if zooplankton do not also utilize blue-greens as food. In this respect, a series of in-lake experimental results indicates that after the food chain has been biomanipulated, there is a decrease in blue-green density in periods when there is an increase in herbivores. Is this only an accidental result or are the two facts interrelated; in other words, can the decrease in the density of blue-greens be attributed to the increased use of them by zooplankton herbivores?

The suitability of blue-greens as food for zooplankton has been widely investigated by many authors with contrasting and inconclusive results. Two main factors seem to play important role in determining their suitability as food: the biochemical properties of the different species, or even different strains of the same species; and the shape and size of the colonies.

In particular, biochemical properties can result in toxic effects on zooplankton, while size and shape may strongly interfere with filtering, thus reducing the possibility of gathering food.

The primary production and extracellular release by phytoplankton were measured at different depths of Miko?ajskie Lake, Ryńskie Lake and Be?dany Lake (Masurian Lake District, Poland). The release of dissolved organic compounds was found to be related to the rates of primary production. The percentage of extracellular release (PER) of organic matter in the photic zone showed an inverse relationship with particulate production and chlorophyll alpha concentration. The highest PER was determined in the epilimnion of the studied lakes, where also increased release was observed. The higher release of algal products of photosynthesis in the photic zone than in the profundal is probably caused by the inhibition of physiological activity of bacteria by antibacterial substances produced by algae. The substances released by algae in the profundal are taken up by aquatic bacteria which explains the lower release and PER measured.  相似文献

Bacteria and algae isolated from a wastewater oxidation pond were inoculated onto opposing surfaces of double-layer agar plates (Lutri plates) to determine the usefulness of such plates for studying microbial interactions. The altered growth characteristics of various algae depending on the species of bacteria on the adjacent medium surface indicated that there was diffusion of extracellular products through the agar, suggesting that this simple assay can be used for screening potential interactions of actively growing organisms.  相似文献
