Emergence pattern and developmental status at emergence of Baltic salmon fry from the Umeälven hatchery stock (63°50'N, 20°25'E) were studied at 6, 10 and 12°C in the laboratory. The number of days and degree days from hatching to 50% emergence decreased exponentially with increasing temperature. Synchronization of emergence increased with temperature. Optimal temperature for incubation of yolk-sac alevins was 10°C, which resulted in the largest fry at emergence and the lowest death rate. Fry kept at 6°C had the lowest mean weight and at 12°C the highest death rate. The fry emerged at an earlier developmental state with more yolk at 12°C than at 6°C. The Baltic salmon had a faster developmental rate during the gravel-phase, as compared to more southern Atlantic salmon populations.  相似文献

I compare the developmental stability of first generation hybrids between hatchery strains of rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) to that of the three pure parental strains raised in a common environment. Two of three reciprocal hybrid pairs show significantly less fluctuating asymmetry of four meristic characters than is found in parental strains. In contrast, the third hybrid pair shows reduced but not significantly lower developmental stability compared to pure strains. These hybrids had previously been found to develop slower than their maternal parental strains, indicating divergence of parental regulatory mechanisms controlling early ontogeny. A significant positive association between the degree of relative delay in hybrid developmental rate and their degree of developmental instability supports this view. For example, the only hybrid pair with decreased developmental stability also had the largest relative delay in development time of all hybrids. Neither absolute developmental rate nor enzyme heterozygosity at 42 loci alone can explain the degree of fluctuating asymmetry in these hybrids. The developmental stability of hybrids is apparently a result of the interaction between the developmental divergence between parental strains and their genomic heterozygosity due to hybridization.  相似文献

The London strain of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) was created by interbreeding three other strains of rainbow trout and therefore was expected to have higher levels of genetic variation than other strains of rainbow trout. We examined 129 London strain rainbow trout from Indiana by allozyme electrophoresis to assess levels of genetic variation and to examine the relationship between the London strain and other hatchery strains. When using the same loci to compare with other hatchery strains the London strain showed levels of genetic variation within the range of other hatchery strains: mean heterozygosity of 0.053 (0.031-0.099), 1.27 (1.20-1.60) alleles per locus and 20.0% (20.0-40.0%) of the loci were polymorphic. The London strain is somewhat distinct from other hatchery strains (D=0.009-0.072), in part because of the high frequency of the sIDHP*40 allele.  相似文献

Live yolk-sac halibut, Hippoglossus hippoglossus (L.) larvae from rearing experiments at Austevoll Aquaculture Station, Norway, were examined from hatching to past first feeding for developmental morphology and behaviour. The findings include development of the respiratory and circulatory organs, eye pigmentation, mouth formation, organs of the digestive system and the process of yolk absorption, as well as swimming speed and activity levels.
A stomodeum is not present at hatching although drinking is possible through a pair of branchial pits which gradually develop into the operculum and gill basket. The mouth normally opens slowly, the gape being restricted by a transverse septum until bones are formed. The amount of time spent swimming varies from less than 15% of the observation period during the first 2 weeks after hatching to between 70 and 100% around the seventh week after hatching, when individual differences become more apparent. Larvae generally react with a burst of swimming when two come into contact. Speed and duration of swimming seems to be correlated with development of eye pigment, heart size and fin formation. Five new microsatellite markers were developed for the eastern oyster (Crassostrea virginica), and allelic variability was compared between a wild Chesapeake Bay population (James River) and a hatchery strain (DEBY). All loci amplified readily and demonstrated allelic variability with the number of alleles ranging from 16 to 36 in the wild population and from 11 to 19 in the DEBY strain. Average observed and expected heterozygosities were estimated at 0.66 and 0.80 in the hatchery sample. The corresponding estimates were 0.91 and 0.75 in the wild sample. Results indicated lower genetic variability in the DEBY strain and significant genetic differentiation between the wild population and hatchery strain. These microsatellite loci will prove valuable for future population genetic studies and in tracking of hatchery strains used in restoration.  相似文献

Halibut larvae hatch at a very immature stage, and the duration of the yolk-sac period is very long (up to 50 days). This paper describes the histomorphological development of organs of the yolk-sac larvae (6° C) by use of light and electron microscopy. Rudimentary branchial cavities were open from 2 days after hatching. Kidneys seemed functional 16 days after hatching and onwards, and primitive lamellae on the gill arches were beginning to form at this age. Pancreatic zymogen granules were first observed 20daysafter hatching. The liver was segmented into lobes between 20 and 23 days after hatching, and the gall bladder seemed functional from day 23. The hindgut became extensively folded from day 26, and branchial capillaries were first observed at this stage. The larvae were able to catch food particles 24 days after hatching. Judging from ultrastructural observations, it seemed that halibut larvae were able to digest food particles between day 24 and 26 after hatching (around 150 daydegrees and 50% yolk absorption).  相似文献

采用RAPD技术对真鲷野生群体及人工繁殖群体各23个个体进行了DNA多态性检测。实验选取OPK组16个10 bp随机引物用于两群体的遗传多样性分析。在野生群体和人工繁殖群体中分别获得131和123条扩增片段,两群体的多态片段比例分别为62.60%和54.47%,平均杂合度分别为0.4786和0.3633,可见真鲷野生群体及人工繁殖群体的遗传多样性较为丰富,在选择育种和遗传改良方面具有较大的潜力。人工繁殖群体的多态片段比例和平均杂合度都低于野生群体,意味着在生产过程中要采取行之有效的管理保护措施以避免或减少遗传多样性水平的降低,确保真鲷增养殖业的可持续发展。  相似文献

Atlantic halibut eggs and yolk-sac larvae were incubated at 1, 5 and 8° C. Eggs incubated at 8° C gave slightly shorter larvae at hatching with a significantly smaller total cross-sectional area of white muscle fibres than eggs incubated at 5° C. Transport of eggs 2 days prior to hatching gave significantly longer larvae at hatching with a significantly larger red fibre cross-sectional area than when eggs were transported shortly after the blastopore closure. A higher survival until 230 degree days after hatching was also observed in the former group. All eggs incubated at 1° C died before hatching and all larvae incubated at 1° C died before 45 degree days after hatching. From hatching until 230 degree days the total white cross-sectional area increased threefold in all temperature groups. The increase in white cross-sectional area was entirely due to hypertrophy between hatching and 150 degree days (10 mm L S). Recruitment of new white fibres increased in germinal zones at the dorsal, ventral and lateral borders of the myotome from 150 degree days onwards, but at 230 degree days (12–13 mm L S) the recruitment fibre zone constituted <10% of the total white cross-sectional area. Larval incubation at 8° C gave slightly longer larvae with a significantly larger cross-sectional area of recruitment fibres at 230 degree days than incubation at 5° C. The larval group incubated at 8° C also had a significantly lower survival until 230 degree days than did the 5° C group. Incubation temperature regimes did not affect the volume density of myofibrils in the axial muscle fibres at 230 degree days. Thus hypertrophy is the predominant mechanism of axial white muscle growth in Atlantic halibut yolk-sac larvae and an increased rearing temperature during the yolk-sac stage increases white muscle fibre hyperplasia.  相似文献

Artificially fertilized eggs and yolk-sac larvae of a freshwater tropical/subtropical fish Clarias gariepinus receiving no external food were incubated at 22, 25 and 28° C until full yolk resorption. Developmental time, size and matter composition (CHNS-O Analyzer and ashing) were assessed at egg fertilization, hatching and yolk resorption; respiration was measured every 4–5 h. The course of acceleration of C. gariepinus embryonic developmental rate with temperature ( Q10 dev) was compared over the temperature range to those of Cyprinus carpio and Oncorhynchus mykiss ; they differed greatly, but were similar when compared on the basis of effective temperatures specific to each fish. Specific growth rates for energy (88, 150 and 183% per day at 22,25 and 28° C, respectively) as well as the conversion efficiencies of egg energy (64, 71 and 68%, respectively) and protein (71, 78 and 76%, respectively) in C. gariepinus larval tissues were higher than those known for the endogenous feeding period of coldwater and temperate fish species. In C. gariepinus at the end of yolk resorption, the carbon percentage and caloric values of dry weight, size (in terms of dry matter, minerals, protein and energy per larva) and transformation efficiencies were lowest at 22° C, highest at 25° C and had slightly decreased at 28° C. A tentative mechanism which leads to the positive or negative response of body size to temperature over the viable temperature range is defined.  相似文献

Genetic diversity is recognized as an important population attribute for both conservation and evolutionary purposes; however, the functional relationships between the environment, genetic diversity, and fitness-related traits are poorly understood. We examined relationships between selected lake parameters and population genetic diversity measures in 46 walleye (Sander vitreus) populations across the province of Ontario, Canada, and then tested for relationships between six life history traits (in three categories: growth, reproductive investment, and mortality) that are closely related to fitness, and genetic diversity measures (heterozygosity, d2, and Wright's inbreeding coefficient). Positive relationships were observed between lake surface area, growing degree days, number of species, and hatchery supplementation versus genetic diversity. Walleye early growth rate was the only life history trait significantly correlated with population heterozygosity in both males and females. The relationship between FIS and male early growth rate was negative and significant (P < 0.01) and marginally nonsignificant for females (P = 0.06), consistent with inbreeding depression effects. Only one significant relationship was observed for d2: female early growth rate (P < 0.05). Stepwise regression models showed that surface area and heterozygosity had a significant effect on female early growth rate, while hatchery supplementation, surface area and heterozygosity had a significant effect on male early growth rate. The strong relationship between lake parameters, such as surface area, and hatchery supplementation, versus genetic diversity suggests inbreeding and outbreeding in some of the populations; however, the weak relationships between genetic diversity and life history traits indicate that inbreeding and outbreeding depression are not yet seriously impacting Ontario walleye populations.  相似文献

We examined the developmental rate of hybrids between rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) and two subspecies of cutthroat trout: westslope cutthroat trout (Salmo clarki lewisi) and Yellowstone cutthroat trout (Salmo clarki bouvieri). These taxa show considerable genetic divergence at 42 structural loci encoding enzymes; the mean Nei's d between the rainbow trout and the two species of cutthroat trout is 0.22. We used four measures of developmental rate: time of hatching and yolk resorption, rate of increase in activity of four enzymes, and time of initial detection of seven isozyme loci. The two cutthroat trout subspecies reached hatching and yolk resorption earlier than rainbow trout. Cutthroat trout had higher relative enzyme activities than rainbow trout from deposition of eye pigment to hatching. There was no difference in the rate of increase in enzyme activity or time of initial expression of these loci between these species. Hybrids showed developmental rates intermediate or similar to that of the parental species using all measures. Our results indicate an absence of regulatory and developmental incompatibility between these taxa.This research was supported by NSF Grants ISP-8011449 and BSR-8300039. This study describes for the first time the normal development of New Zealand hapuku Polyprion oxygeneios embryos and larvae reared from fertilization to 11 days post-hatch (dph) at a constant temperature. Fertilized eggs were obtained from natural spawnings from communally reared captive wild broodstock. Eggs averaged 2 mm in diameter and had single or multiple oil globules. Embryos developed following the main fish embryological stages and required an average of 1859·50 degree hours post-fertilization (dhpf) to hatch. The newly hatched larvae (4·86 mm mean total length, L(T) ) were undifferentiated, with unpigmented eyes, a single and simple alimentary tube and a finfold that covered the entire body. Larvae relied on the energy from the yolk-sac reserves until 11 dph (7·33 mm mean L(T) ), when yolk-sac reabsorption was almost completed. Some of the major developmental stages from hatching to yolk-sac reabsorption were eye pigmentation (5 dph), upper jaw formation (7 dph), lower jaw formation (8 dph) and mouth opening (8-9 dph). By 9 dph, the digestive system consisted of pancreas, liver, primordial stomach, anterior and posterior gut; therefore, P. oxygeneios larvae would be capable of feeding on live prey. The developmental, morphological and histological data described constitutes essential baseline information on P. oxygeneios biology and normal development.  相似文献

The larvae of Clyde and Baltic herring (Clupea harengus L.), cod (Gadus morhua L.) and flounder (Platichthys flesus L.) were reared and fed to examine the changes in feeding ability and survival during progressive starvation. The time to initial feeding for yolk-sac larvae and to the point-of-no-return (PNR, when 50% of the larvae, although still alive, are no longer strong enough to feed) for both yolk-sac and older larvae were determined. The yolk-sac larvae of Clyde and Baltic herring, cod and flounder begin to feed on days 6, 3, 5 and 6 post-hatching at rearing temperatures of 7.5, 9.2, 6.9 and 9.5°C, respectively. The time to reach the PNR for yolk-sac larvae of these species is only 3–5 days after yolk resorption. From the onset of starvation in older larvae the time to reach the PNR is 6–7 days for 36-and 60-day-old Clyde herring at 9.6 and 10.5°C and for 46-day-old Baltic herring at 13.1°C but it is 23 days for 32-day-old flounder at 12.3°C. In yolk-sac larvae the peak of feeding rate and intensity usually occurred on the day that the yolk became exhausted, or 1 day later. Older larvae could withstand longer periods without food than yolk-sac larvae, especially in flounder. While the feeding rate during starvation of older larvae slowly decreased the feeding intensity first increased significantly and then decreased. Survival of larvae remained high up to the PNR.  相似文献

采用淀粉或聚丙烯酰胺凝胶电泳方法分析了长江中游武汉江段草鱼天然种群(n=81)中10种同工酶约28个基因座位的遗传变异型。该种群的多态座位比例为16.7%,平均杂合度为0.0739。而Utter和Folmar(1978)曾报道美国的5个草鱼人工繁殖种群的多态座位比例及平均杂合度分别为6%和0.021。比较结果表明,近交很可能是导致草鱼人工繁殖种群中遗传变异性降低的主要原因。我们认为生产上采用数量大、来源广的亲鱼进行人工繁殖,并定期用天然种群更换或补充繁殖用亲鱼很可能是保持或增加鱼类人工繁殖种群遗传变异性的一种有效手段。  相似文献

In this study, the effects of abrupt temperature change on the hatching success and larval survival of eggs, yolk-sac larvae (YSL) and larvae above nest (LAN), for both largemouth bass Micropterus salmoides and smallmouth bass Micropterus dolomieu were quantified. Temperature had a significant effect on hatching success and time to 50% mortality, with large heat shocks causing accelerated mortality. The temperature changes shown to influence survival of all life stages, however, were beyond what is typically experienced in the wild. Micropterus salmoides had greater egg hatching success rates and increased survival rates at YSL and LAN stages, relative to M. dolomieu. Additionally, egg hatching success and survival of LAN varied across nests within the study. These findings suggest that temperature alone may not account for variations in year-class strength and may emphasize the need for protection of the nest-guarding male Micropterus spp. to ensure recruitment.  相似文献

通过开展东北七鳃鳗(Lampetra morii)胚胎、卵黄囊期仔鱼和幼鱼发育研究, 系统地描述东北七鳃鳗的早期发育形态特征和生长发育规律。研究结果表明: 东北七鳃鳗的卵裂为全裂类型, 在(18±1)℃水温下, 受精卵经卵裂期、囊胚期、原肠胚期、神经胚期、头凸期、孵出前期以及孵出期, 历时11—12d孵育出仔鱼。初孵仔鱼体重为(0.00032±0.00002) g, 全长为(0.29±0.02) cm。在卵黄囊期内, 仔鱼体重和全长随日龄的增加而增长, 吻长、眼径、眼鳃间距、口笠长、鳃前长、鳃长、头长、体长、尾长和泄殖孔长均存在异速生长现象。初孵仔鱼经过约15d(卵黄囊期)发育成幼鱼, 幼鱼卵黄囊完全吸收, 消化道贯通, 形成肠道, 开始摄食。在幼鱼期, 经5 个月的培育, 幼鱼体重和全长随月龄的增加而增长, 体色逐渐加深, 5月龄幼鱼的体重和全长分别为(0.07±0.01) g和(3.87±0.32) cm。东北七鳃鳗的早期发育研究为七鳃鳗发育生物学积累基础资料, 同时也为七鳃鳗的人工增养殖提供了科学依据, 推进七鳃鳗的模式化进程。  相似文献

通过设置不同浓度的葡萄糖溶液和维生素C溶液分别添加到普安银鲫的孵化水体中, 直至卵黄囊消失完全, 探究葡萄糖和维生素C溶液分别浸泡对普安银鲫(Carassius auratus gibelio)卵黄囊仔鱼发育中脂蛋白脂酶(LPL)和肝脂酶(HL)活性的影响. 葡萄糖浓度为0、5、10、15和20 g/L; 维生素C浓度为0、20、25、30和35 mg/L, 记录孵化时间、孵化率及仔鱼成活率, 并测定了最适葡萄糖浓度组、维生素C浓度组与对照组中普安银鲫卵黄囊仔鱼发育中LPL和HL活性. 结果显示: 普安银鲫卵黄囊仔鱼发育中对照组与维生素C组LPL比活力与全活力呈下降-上升的变化趋势, HL比活力与全活力均呈上升趋势. 葡萄糖组LPL和HL比活力与全活力呈上升趋势, 在混合营养期与外源营养期, LPL和HL比活力与全活力显著高于对照组(P0.05), 而维生素C组LPL和HL比活力与全活力仅稍高于对照组, 但HL全活力在内源营养期显著高于对照组(P0.05). 研究表明: 适宜水平的葡萄糖溶液可通过调节脂类代谢酶的活性来维持机体内脂质代谢的动态平衡, 同时适宜水平的维生素C溶液能促进脂质代谢.    相似文献

Tolerance limits, at which 50% of larvae could survive high temperature and low salinity for 24 h, were determined for the yolk-sac larvae of Clyde and North Sea herring (Clupea harengus L.), cod (Gadus morhua L.) and flounder (Platichthys flesus L.) during early development and starvation. Clyde and North Sea herring, cod and flounder from hatching to the end of the yolk-sac stage, could withstand 21–23.5 °C, 20.5–23 °C, 15.5–18 °C and 21.5–24°C, respectively. The temperature tolerance was reduced by about 3.5–4 °C for Clyde herring and cod, 4–4.5 °C for North Sea herring and 8–8.5 °C for flounder when the larvae reached the point-of-no-return (PNR, when 50% of larvae, although still alive, are no longer strong enough to feed). The lowest salinity tolerance between hatching and the end of yolk-sac stage was 1–1.5‰ for Clyde and North Sea herring, 2–3‰ for cod and 0–1‰ for flounder. In no instance was there a loss of tolerance to low salinity during starvation. In fact, tolerance improved somewhat until the larvae became moribund. At hatching Clyde and North Sea herring larvae were negatively buoyant with a sinking rate of 0.35–0.4cm · s−1 which steadily decreased until the larvae became moribund. Cod and flounder larvae, however, were positively buoyant at hatching but became progressively less buoyant and, by the end of the yolk-sac stage they were negatively buoyant with a sinking rate of 0.06–0.07 cm · s−1. This sinking rate then decreased slightly until the PNR stage. The low salinity tolerance of all three species varied in a similar fashion to buoyancy.  相似文献

During the early ontogeny of fishes, the timing and duration of key events such as larval hatching and the switch from endogenous to exogenous feeding largely determine the offspring viability and survival. The aim of the present study was to investigate the life history traits of the early larvae of the mackerel icefish, Champsocephalus gunnari, collected in summer south of the South Shetland Islands in the Bransfield Strait and north of Elephant Island. Through the analysis of sagittal otolith microstructure, we assessed the timing and duration of egg incubation, larval hatching, first exogenous feeding, rate of yolk resorption and body growth rate. Compared to populations living further north (i.e. around South Georgia and Kerguelen Islands), mackerel icefish in the southern Scotia Arc exhibits longer egg incubation (lasting 90–120 days from winter to summer) and delayed hatching time spread over a relatively short period lasting 26 days between January and February. The first exogenous feeding takes place between 13 and 24 days after hatching still in the presence of the yolk-sac, indicating a prolonged mixed feeding afterward. The specific growth rate or daily percentage change in size (G) was 1.9 % SL day?1, corresponding to a daily growth rate at mean size of 0.31 mm day?1. While showing significant differences in early life history traits across their geographical distribution, C. gunnari populations share a common strategy, spawning a small number of large eggs that hatch in relatively large-sized larvae, at a time which may be independent of the timing of pack-ice retreat and onset of the production cycle.  相似文献
