Myxotrichum ochraceum var.frigidum, a new variety ofMyxotrichum, is described and illustrated from the material from Japanese soil. It is morphologically characterized by dull green to black ascomata with a yellow-orange centrum, peridium consisting of a fragile hyphal network, peridial hyphae with internal coiled branches and short spine-like appendages, pale yellow fusiform striate ascospores, and the absence of an anamorph. The new variety primarily differs from the type variety in the absence of elongate appendages. A key to all accepted species of the genus is revised.  相似文献

Summary A new genus of the Gymnoascaceae is described and illustrated. A single species,Petalosporus nodulosus, is described. Four isolates representing this new species were isolated from dung in India and California. Morphological development and other diagnostic characteristics are given. The new genus is characterized by the formation of a discrete but often fragmentary ascocarp the peridium of which undergoes partial disarticulation at maturity. At least some of the peridial hyphae have thick walls and are enlarged at septal nodes, and these septa are also the points of disarticulation. A primary generic character is the floral-shaped pattern in which ascospores are found.  相似文献

Spiromastix saturnispora, isolated from a soil sample collected from central Java in Indonesia, is described and illustrated as a new species. The new species was compared with the type ofSpiromastix, S. warcupii, and is similar in having brownish ascomata with a peridium of a loose network of delicate hyphae, peridial appendages which are curved in the manner of a scimitar and never completely coiled, and the absence of an anamorph. The ascospores ofS. saturnispora are characterized as large oblate, 3.2–4.8 × 2.5–3µm, punctate, and with an equatorial rim, which serves to distinguish the species fromS. warcupii and other known species.  相似文献

Decayed wood from fallen white spruce (Picea glauca) and trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides) collected in northeastern Alberta, Canada, was the source of new isolates of species in the ascomycete generaGymnostellatospora andPseudogymnoascus. In addition to new reports ofG. japonica, G. frigida andP. roseus, two new species are described.Gymnostellatospora canadensis sp. nov. resemblesG. japonica but differs in producing brown ascomata and in the formation of an arthroconidial anamorph.Gymnostellatospora subnuda sp. nov. is distinct in lacking differentiated peridial hyphae.Gymnostellatospora alpina was not found in decayed wood but is reviewed based on extralimital material. A dichtomous key to the five species ofGymnostellatospora is provided.  相似文献

Neoarachnotheca is proposed as a new genus of Onygenales. The outstanding generic characteristics are white, spherical ascomata with a wall formed by a network of hyphae and spherical, subhyaline ascospores with an irregular sheath. Nt. keratinophila, the type species, characterized by wavy peridial hyphae has been isolated from marine and river sediments and Myriodontium keratinophilum is its anamorph. Nannizziopsis tropicalis is proposed as a new species based on a strain isolated from soil in Burundi. RFLPs analysis of ITS and 5.8S rDNA support these proposals. The differences with related genera are discussed.  相似文献

Unispored sporocarps of a Kansas isolate of G. mosseae at all stages of development were prepared for light and scanning electron microscopy to reveal the process involved in peridium formation and spore release. Five stages were identified: 1) peridial hyphal branch origination from below the sporophore attachment; 2) continued peridial hyphal branching and weft formation; 3) adherence of peridial hyphae to the spore wall and completion of peridial expansion into mature state; 4) separation of the primary (evanescent) spore wall layer from the spore and the inner peridial layer; and 5) release of the de-peridiate spore. Spores in stage 3 were surrounded by a two-layered peridium consisting of thinner-walled, parallel-arranged hyphae next to the spore and thicker-walled, jigsaw puzzle-arranged hyphae to the outside; the latter of which collapsed during stages 4 and 5. Fine radial canals and lignituberlike ingrowths were seen in both the de-peridiate spore wall and, for the first time, in the shed peridium. Comparison of these results with studies of related sporocarpic genera lead to the conclusion that the process of peridium formation in G. mosseae is similar to that of G. coronatum, but that other sporocarpic Glomus representatives must be characterized before valid comparisons may be drawn.  相似文献

During a survey of plant-parasitic microfungi in Panama, a new species in a new genus of Parmulariaceae (Ascomycota), Antoniomyces loranthicola, was found on leaves of Gaiadendron punctatum (Loranthaceae). It is described and illustrated. The new species and the new genus differ morphologically from all other known species and genera known in Parmulariaceae by deep internal stroma and superficial radiating hyphae without appressoria.  相似文献

Summary A new genus,Pectinotrichum llanense, was isolated from Venezuelan soils. The generic determination is based upon the morphological characteristics of the ascocarp.1. Well developed pectinate structures arise from the peripheral elements of the ascocarp.2. Large tuberculations are present over the appendages and peridial elements.3. Elongate appendages are branched and septate.4. Short and elongate appendages are present as in the related generaMyxotrichum, Gymnoascus andAuxarthron.  相似文献

Nochascypha jacksonii and N. paraensis proposed for combination were previously placed in the cyphellaceous genus Maireina. Unlike the typical representatives of the genus Maireina, both taxa have only pale coloured surface hyphae. The morphological and anatomical re-examination of type material has shown both species belong to the genus Nochascypha. Their inclusion extends the former range of Nochascypha species whose surface hyphae are colourless by two distinct members with yellowish surface hyphae. Nochascypha jacksonii and N. paraensis are described and illustrated in detail. An updated key for Nochascypha is presented.  相似文献

An undescribed ascomycete similar to species in the Aliquandostipitaceae (Jahnulales, Dothideomycetes) was collected from submerged wood in a freshwater swamp in Big Cypress National Preserve, Florida. The characteristic features of the new species are as follows: (i) ascomata are small, sessile, light brown, globose to subglobose, papillate, and anchored to the substrate by wide, brown, septate and subtending hyphae; peridial wall is composed of 1 to 2 layers of large, angular cells with large lumens; (ii) asci are ovoid to broadly clavate, and fissitunicate; (iii) ascospores are one-septate, fusiform, multiguttulate, pale brown, surrounded by a fusiform gelatinous sheath, and equipped with numerous filamentous appendages around the midseptum. The new fungus is most similar to Aliquandostipite crystallinus, from which it differs in overall smaller size and morphology. This new fungus is described and illustrated herein as A. minuta.  相似文献

Three new Perenniporia species, P. lacerata, P. luteola and P. tianmuensis, are described based on morphological and molecular characters. Perenniporia lacerata is characterized by an annual habit, resupinate and papery basidiocarps with lacerate pores, a dimitic hyphal system with weakly dextrinoid skeletal hyphae, truncate and dextrinoid basidiospores. Perenniporia luteola is distinguished by a perennial habit, resupinate basidiocarps with buff-yellow pore surface, a dimitic hyphal system with dextrinoid skeletal hyphae, non-truncate and dextrinoid basidiospores. Perenniporia tianmuensis differs in its annual habit, pileate basidiocarps, a dimitic hyphal system with strongly dextrinoid skeletal hyphae, non-truncate and dextrinoid basidiospores. Phylogenetic analysis based on ITS and LSU-rDNA regions revealed five clades for 29 species of Perenniporia used in this study. Both morphological and molecular evidence confirmed the placement of three new species in Perenniporia and showed its relationships with similar species in the genus.  相似文献

Summary A taxonomic study was made of morphological variability in several cultures ofGymnoascus reessii isolated from dung and soil, mostly in California. There is considerable variation among isolates of this species with regard to cultural and ascocarp characters such as the nature of the free apices of the peridial hyphae. Ascospore characters are quite stable. Although certain isolates possibly could be grouped into varieties, such groupings merge into one another. Hence, at this time it appears that varieties ofG. reessii cannot readily be distinguished. The single heretofore described variety,G. reessii var.deilephilae Hennings, is reduced to synonymy withG. reessii Baran.Supported in part by Botany Department Research Grant # 1344, University of California, Los Angeles, California.  相似文献

Polyporus phyllostachydis is described and illustrated as a new species. This species is characterized by its occurrence on bamboo roots, the small and centrally stipitate basidiocarps, the white pileus, usually becoming darker from the center at maturity, and the cylindrical stipe with a distinct crust. Morphological characters of the present species were compared with those of P. cryptopus and P. rhizophilus, other rhizophilic species of the genus. Polyporus cryptopus and P. rhizophilus are morphologically distinct by contextual texture, basidiospores, and hyphae, and possibly represent two distinct species. Lasiosphaeriaceous ascomycetes from palms are discussed in this paper and three new species,L. alexandricola, L. alexandrae andL. chapmanii, are described. Three species are excluded fromLasiosphaeria, L. nematospora, L. rufula andL. tephrocoma, and the transfer ofL. subambigua toCercophora is noted. A new genus,Arecacicola, is introduced to accommodate a distinctive taxon from palms.Arecacicola is characterized by ascomata immersed in a sparse stroma consisting of hosts cells filled with fungal hyphae. The ascomata do not ultimately become erumpent. The ascospores lack apical spines, and the asci do not possess an apical ring. A key to lasiosphaeriaceous taxa from palms is provided.  相似文献

Thekopsora ostryae, a new rust fungus on leaves of Ostrya japonica collected from Gansu Province was described. Morphological examination using light and scanning electron microscopy showed that this new species is distinct from other species of Thekopsora in the characteristics of ostiolar peridial cells of uredinia and the spinules on the surface of urediniospores. Analyses of the ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 and 28S rRNA gene partial sequences showed that T. ostryae could be a distinct lineage in the genus Thekopsora.  相似文献

Cinereomyces clade is a newly proposed monophyletic group of polypores containing currently four genera and five species, including two promising biopulping fungi, Ceriporiopsis rivulosa and C. subvermispora. The Cinereomyces clade is well-delimited in nrDNA-based phylogenetic analysis, but its position in Polyporales remains unclear. Its closest relative may be found in the core polyporoid clade. Only a few morphological characters are common for all the species in the clade, e.g. CB– and CRB+ hyphae, white fruiting bodies, presence of oil, and middle-sized spores. Culturally, the species are unified by producing simple-septate generative hyhpae in the margin, which produce simple-clamped hyphae backwards. The genus Gelatoporia is the correct place for Ceriporiopsis subvermispora. Two new genera are described in the group: Obba to incorporate C. rivulosa and a new austral species, Obba valdiviana, known from southern Argentina and recorded here also from Tasmania, and Sebipora to accommodate a new species from tropical Asia, S. aquosa. ITS sequences imply that Eurasian Gelatoporia subvermispora may belong to a different species from the North American one. G. subvermispora is recorded as new to Indonesia.  相似文献

A new diatom (Bacillariophyceae) genus and two new species are described from the arid region of the North American southwest. The new genus, Playaensis, and new species, P. circumfimbria and P. furtiva, are distinguished by frustule morphology and autecology. Playaensis possesses unique, narrowly lunate longitudinal ribs bordering the raphe and spathulate spines, but their evolutionary relationship to known genera is unclear. In Payton Lake, New Mexico, P. circumfimbria and P. furtiva are rare in the diatom community, and their geographic and geological extent are not known, but they may be restricted to alkaline, slightly saline lakes of the region.  相似文献
