Comparative morphological and histochemical investigation of the rat skeletal muscles after a 18.5 days flight in the space ship "Cosmos-936" under conditions of weightlessness and artificial gravitation created by means of a centrifuge has demonstrated that weightlessness creates muscular atrophy, with fibres of different types affected in different muscles. The greatest changes take place in the soleus muscle. Metabolic disorders in the muscular tissue are manifested as an excessive deposition of glycogen and an increased content of phospholipids in it. The artificial gravitation favourably affects the state of the skeletal musculature preventing the development of metabolic disorders, though it does not completely avert the appearance of atrophic processes in it.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Exposure to microgravity during space flight results in profound physiologic changes. Numerous studies have shown changes in circulating populations of peripheral blood immune cells immediately after space flight. It is currently unknown if these changes result from exposure to microgravity or are caused by the stress of reentry and readaptation to gravity. METHODS: We have developed the whole blood staining device (WBSD) as a system for the staining of whole blood collected during space flight for subsequent flow cytometric analysis. This device contains all liquids to address safety issues concerned with space flight and also moves the cells through the staining, lyse/fixation, and dilution steps. RESULTS: Data from flow cytometric analysis of samples stained in the WBSD was found to be comparable to data from samples stained by the conventional methods. Cells stained with the WBSD remain stable in the device for up to 14 days. The necessary manipulations required to use the device were tested on the KC-135 aircraft during the reduced gravity segment of parabolic flight. CONCLUSIONS: With the WBSD immunophenotype analysis can be performed at various time points for the duration of an entire Shuttle flight. In addition, this device has significant terrestrial applications for rapid and easy immunofluorescence labeling of whole blood in remote and isolated locations where immediate access to specialized equipment and skilled laboratory personnel may not be available. The WBSD provides a simple mechanism to design specific immunophenotyping tests for use by nontechnical personnel at bedside or in field locations. Cytometry 37:74-80, 1999. The efficacy of countermeasure exercise for diminishing disturbances induced by microgravity in motor system and its visceral supply during different stages of long-duration flight was evaluated. The results of both bicycle and locomotor testing indicate that physical fitness of cosmonaut does not become worse in the course of the long-duration flight. On the contrary, the lowest fitness was recorded at the first stage of mission, just after one month of flight. The "dead period" at the beginning of space flight seems to be a manifestation of the acute decrease in physical condition on transition from 1 G to microgravity, when none of the regular countermeasure regimes is sufficiently effective and acute increase of volume and intensity of training is impossible under the conditions of space flight.  相似文献

In the blood serum of seventeen members of crews which participated in 14 orbital expeditions to the International Space Station with the duration of 125 to 217 days, during the pre-flight period and on the day of landing on the 1st, 7th and 14th days of the rehabilitation period (RP) the content of LPO products was determined, namely diene conjugates (DC), malon dialdehyde (MDA), shiffbases (SB) and the main lipid oxidant - tocopherol (TP). The group of astronauts who made landing in the Space Shuttle spacecraft (8 persons) and the group of astronauts who accomplished space mission in the Soyus TM spacecraft (9 persons) demonstrated a decrease in DC and MDA levels with a rise in TF concentration in the course of the rehabilitation period. Changes in the group of the American spacecraft astronauts were more pronounced. LPO inhibition during the rehabilitation period is recognized [treated] as an adequate reaction to the stress caused by re-adaptation to the ground conditions. Also are discussed probable mechanisms of intergroup differencies in LPO intensity degree: biomembrane phase state changing under the influence of overloads during de-orbiting and stress response intensity during landing in different types of spacecraft.  相似文献

Analysis of alterations in the cardiac activity on the basis of electrocardiographic (ECG) findings in 29 cosmonauts of flight and ground professions aged from 29 to 61 years after 34 short (8–30 days) space flights (SFs) between 1982 and 2006 has been carried out. The ECG data at the stage of clinical selection, clinical-physiological examination (CPE) before a SF, at the stage of the launch of a spacecraft (SC) into orbit and its landing on Earth and at the stage of postflight CPE have been analyzed. The analysis of cardiac activity parameters on the basis of ECG data at different stages of observations has led to the identification of three groups of cosmonauts. There were no significant changes or negative tendencies in the alteration of ECG data in the first group (55.2% of the total number of cosmonauts) during the observation period from selection to the end of the SF. The changes that later became more pronounced during the landing on Earth and were retained during postflight CPE have been found in the second group of cosmonauts (in 34.5% cases) at the time of selection and preflight CPE. Considerable disturbances in cardiac activity that are dangerous for human health have been found in ECGs in the third group (10.3%) during the descent from orbit. The data from the study are the first step in the investigation of possible medical risks for the development and improvement of requirements for the medical selection of crews and the admission of subjects with partial health insufficiency on SFs.  相似文献

In recent years, parametric speakers have been used in various circumstances. However, nothing has yet been demonstrated about the safety of parametric speakers for the human body. Therefore, we studied their effects on physiological functions. Nine male subjects participated in this study. They completed three consecutive sessions: a 20-min quiet period as a baseline, a 45-min mental task period with a general speaker or a parametric speaker, and a 20-min recovery period. We measured electrocardiogram (ECG), photoplethysmogram (PTG), electroencephalogram (EEG), blood pressure (BP), and baroreflex sensitivity (BRS). Two experiments, one with a general speaker (the general condition), the other with a parametric speaker (the parametric condition), were conducted at the same time of day on separate days. To examine the effects of the parametric speaker, a two-way repeated measures ANOVA (speaker factor and time factor) was conducted. We found that sympathetic nervous activity and second derivative of PTG in task period and recovery period during the parametric condition were significantly lower than those indications during the general condition. Furthermore, Δ parasympathetic nervous activity during the parametric condition in task period and recovery period tended to be smaller than that during the general condition. The results suggested that the burden of the parametric speaker is lower than that of the general speaker for physiological functions, especially those of the cardiovascular system. Furthermore, we verified that the reaction time with the parametric speaker is shorter than that with the general speaker.  相似文献

The study of arterial compliance is useful in understanding the geometrical and mechanical properties of a systemic arterial tree. Numerous mathematical models have shown their potential in relating the physical phenomena in the arterial tree to properties of the wall itself. However, limited model is available that describes the pulse transit time (PTT) oscillations of a sleeping child during tidal breathing and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Data from 20 children (17 male; aged 6.4 +/- 4.1 yr) whom were recruited for overnight polysomnography (PSG) were used. A modified windkessel model with related physiological parameters was utilised to describe PTT fluctuations due to the cardiovascular system during sleep. Verification with the recorded PSG data showed similar trends with the model for both types of respiratory events. For tidal breathing, undamped PTT oscillations of 3.89 s were predicted by the model while actual data yielded a mean value of 3.72 +/- 0.79 s. Conversely, under-damping PTT responses were expected based on the model for OSA. The model estimated a Q factor of 4.23 and actual mean data were 3.86 +/- 0.64. Hence, the findings herein suggest that the proposed model has the potential to illustrate tidal breathing and OSA events in sleeping children.  相似文献
