Lymphoblastic lymphosarcoma involving the mesenteric lymph node and thymus was discovered in a 4 yr old male sea otter (Enhydra lutris). Diagnosis was based on gross and light microscopic studies. The cause of this neoplasm was not determined. This is the first case of lymphosarcoma reported in sea otters.  相似文献

In 1996, lymphosarcoma was observed in a captive adult female white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) from northeastern Kansas (USA). A subcutaneous mass on the deer's left cheek was surgically removed and lymphosarcoma was diagnosed. The mass recurred within 3 wk. A second surgical removal was attempted but the tumor had grown much larger, had become intimately involved with the buccal mucosa, and was beginning to interfere with mastication. For these reasons, the deer was euthanized. At postmortem examination the only abnormal findings were the primary tumor and enlarged ipsilateral parotid and mandibular lymph nodes. Histologically these tissues demonstrated changes characteristic of lymphosarcoma but no other organs had evidence of neoplastic disease. A diagnosis of focal lymphosarcoma with local metastasis was made. The organ distribution of lymphosarcoma in this deer differs from previously described cases of lymphosarcoma in cervids.  相似文献

An 8 to 10-week-old female New Zealand white rabbit, Oryctolagus cuniculus, which exhibited clinical signs of anorexia, depression, and torticollis was found to have lymphosarcoma with lymphoblastic leukemia. The multiple visceral involvement with neoplastic lymphoid cells observed in this animal was similar to previously reprted cases of lymphosarcoma in the rabbit. An unusual finding was the occurrence of lymphoblastic leukemia since lymphosarcoma in the rabbit has previously been reported as aleukemic.  相似文献

Studies with the use of intact inbred albino mice showed that in intravenous administration the acute toxicity of antibiotic No. 6270 and echinomycin in complexes with DNA increased 3--4 times as compared to the toxicity of the same antibiotics used without the complex. Under the experimental conditions with 3-fold intravenous administration at 72-hour intervals in doses equivalent by their acute toxicity, the antitumor activity of the echinomycin complex with DNA against the solid form of lymphosarcoma L10-1 was approximately 4 times lower than the activity of the antibiotic used alone. Like echinomycin, antibiotic No. 6270 in complex with DNA used according to the same administration scheme in doses equivalent by their acute toxicity had a lower inhibitory effect on growth of lymphosarcoma L10-1 and sarcoma 180 as compared to its use alone.  相似文献

Considerable diversity exists in the clinical progression data for lymphosarcoma both between and within species. Thirty-four rabbits with hereditary lymphosarcoma were used to define the clinical progression of this condition under controlled genetic conditions. Changes in the erythropoietic cells of the rabbit hemogram in cases of hereditary lymphosarcoma (ha/ha) follow a fairly well defined clinical course of about one-and-one-half months duration. Data are presented showing that these changes are subsequent to schanges in the granulocytic cells of the leukocyte series both peripherally and in the bone marrow.  相似文献

Eighty cats were classified by indirect immunofluorescence and histologic diagnosis into four categories: normal, feline leukemia virus (FeLV) infected; normal noninfected; lymphosarcoma-FeLV infected; lymphosarcoma, no FeLV present. All viremic cats with lymphosarcoma were found to be hypocomplementemic and activation of the complement system had occurred via the classical pathway. Sera of cats with lymphosarcoma in the absence of FeLV had varying levels of total hemolytic complement (TCH50) ranging from normal to hypocomplementemic. Approximately 50% of the cats that were viremic but histologically and clinically free of disease had TCH50 levels within normal range, and the remainder exhibited varying degrees of hypocomplementemia.  相似文献

Rats were immunized with sheep red cells. From their spleen tissue 4S and 26S electrophoretically homogenous RNA fractions were extracted. Effects of these RNA fractions on the hemolysin synthesis were studied in cells of rat transplantable lymphosarcoma in the presense of actinomycin D (AD). The time intervals between the introduction if RNA into the lymphosarcoma cells suspension and the addition of AD were different. The duration of the period within which no synthesis of antibodies occurred was determined, this period being termed the AD-dependent period in induction of antibody synthesis. AD being introduced later (after the end of this period) failed to exert its inhibiting action. With highmolecular (26S) RNA, the AD-dependent period was somewhat shorter as compared with the lowmolecular (4S) RNA. This difference is suggested to be due, presumably, to different mechanism of action of both the RNA fractions on recipient cells.  相似文献

Karminazon (13-benzoylhydrazon) was prepared by condensation of karminomycin with benzoylhydrazine. In its intravenous use in the treatment of mice with lymphosarcoma L10-1 karminazon was less toxic and had lower antitumor activity than karminomycin. Karminazon had a lower selective antitumor activity with respect to lymphosarcoma than karminomycin.  相似文献

Interaction of rubomycin (daunorubicin) chlorhydrate with dimethylformamidine diethyl acetal yielded 3'-desamino-3'dimethylformamidinorubomycin chlorhydrate (DFR). Comparative antitumor activity of DFR and rubomycin was studied on mice with respect to ascitic lymphadenosis NK/Ly and Ehrlich carcinoma, hemocytoblastosis La, leukemia P-388 and two solid tumors i. e. lymphosarcoma LIO-I and sarcoma 180. The highest antitumor effect of DFR was observed in the mice with Ehrlich carcinoma and lymphadenosis NK/Ly after the drug intravenous administration for 4 times. By selectivity of the antitumor effect DFR was inferior to rubomycin with respect to lymphosarcoma LIO-I and sarcoma 180. It was shown that the antileukemic activity of DFR and rubomycin with respect to hemocytoblastosis La was practically the same. In the experiments with leukemia P-388 DFR was inferior to rubomycin.  相似文献

Of 283 cases of lymphocytic disease, 81% fell within three distinct categories: lymphocytic and lymphoblastic lymphosarcoma and lymphocytic leukemia. The remaining 19% showed transitions from more mature to less mature cell types or from local to general anatomic distribution. The clinical course was related to the cell type and the extent of disease rather than to the presence of blood stream invasion. Survival of patients with lymphocytic leukemia and of those with lymphocytic lymphosarcoma was the same, while that of patients with lymphoblastic lymphosarcoma was much shorter. Survival curves are simple exponentials and do not suggest two populations, one with disease less malignant than the other.  相似文献

Plasminogen activator secreted by lymphosarcoma (ascites) of mice was purified up to 163-fold by ammonium sulphate fractionation at 35% saturation and chromatography on p-aminobenzamidine-Sepharose 4B. The purified activator contained specific activity of 9980 IU/mg. The plasminogen activator displayed homogeneity by polyacrylamide slab gel electrophoresis and high performance liquid chromatography. The activator consisted of a single polypeptide chain with an apparent molecular weight of 66,000 daltons as determined by sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis under reducing conditions as well as gel filtration on Sephadex G-100. Distinct differences between this activator and urokinase were discernible in respect of specific activities, fibrin affinity and immunochemical properties. The lymphosarcoma activator appears to be of tissue-type origin since it showed gross similarity to standard tissue plasminogen activator in terms of modes of binding to fibrin and immunological attributes.  相似文献

Irradiation of mice with doses of 2 and 4 Gy induced extensive chromatin degradation in the thymocytes within 6 hours accompanied by an increase in polydeoxynucleotide (PDN) content (36 and 42 times, respectively). Fifteen hours after irradiation the PDN level was considerably lower, however, still being 4.7 and 14 times the control values after doses of 2 and 4 Gy. The PDN content in control LS/BL lymphosarcoma cells was similar as that in the thymocytes of non-irradiated mice. Unlike in the thymocytes, irradiation of lymphosarcoma cells did induce no statistically significant increase in the PDN level 6 and 15 hours after the irradiation, respectively. It has been reported previously (Matyásová et al. 1973) that chromatin of LS/BL cells degraded similarly as that in the irradiated thymocytes. The results of the present experiments thus provide additional evidence for changes of LS/BL cell properties due to long term cultivation. These cells, however, are still able to react by chromatin fragmentation to nitrogen mustard treatment.  相似文献

The effects of supernatants of primary and secondary malignant human lymphoma cell cultures were analyzed as parameters of spontaneous secretion of factors by these cells using the leukocyte migration test (LMT). Spontaneous cultivation for up to five weeks was successful in four cases. The postulated production of mediators, i.e. the inhibitory and stimulating effects on leukocyte migration were characterized by testing the influence of (a) concentration, (b) temperature and (c) absorption with normal blood leukocytes on the effect. Reproducible stimulatory and inhibitory effects on the migration of normal leukocytes were dependent on concentration and temperature and were apparently mediated by one or more factors. The supernatants of a lymphoblastic lymphosarcoma of the T-cell type and of a lymphoblastic lymphosarcoma clearly revealed congruous and reproducible inhibitory effects. A further case of lymphoblastic lymphosarcoma that could not exactly be defined with immunological methods either and a case of centroblastic/centrocytic lymphosarcoma exhibited stimulating effects which could be reduced in a time-dependent manner through preincubation with blood leukocytes. The results of these studies support the assumption that malignant lymphoma cells are capable not only of secreting immunoglobulin, but also of other biologically effective secretion. The effects of such secretion are differentiated into stimulating and inhibitory ones. They might be important for the spreading of a tumor or for resistance of the organism to the disease.  相似文献

We have investigated the ability of Bowman-Birk inhibitor, a protease (trypsin and chymotrypsin) inhibitor, to protect against radiation-induced thymic lymphosarcoma in C57Bl/6NCr1BR mice. Fifty-five 7-week-old male mice were randomized into 11 groups and gavaged 5 days per week with purified Bowman-Birk inhibitor, Bowman-Birk inhibitor concentrate, and autoclaved Bowman-Birk inhibitor concentrate. Following 7 days of gavage, those mice undergoing total-body or sham total-body irradiation received 1.7 Gy weekly for 4 weeks. At 6 months following the radiation exposure, all mice were sacrificed and examined histopathologically. Samples of Bowman-Birk inhibitor concentrate, purified Bowman-Birk inhibitor, and autoclaved Bowman-Birk inhibitor concentrate were evaluated with thin-layer chromatography. The mice treated with total-body irradiation and autoclaved Bowman-Birk inhibitor had significantly (P < 0.05) fewer deaths, lower average grade of lymphosarcoma, and larger fat stores compared to those treated with total-body irradiation and water gavage. The results for the total-body-irradiated mice receiving Bowman-Birk inhibitor concentrate suggested an effect midway between these two groups. Thin-layer chromatography analysis indicated that sterols and the phospholipids varied in the three different samples in a way that approximately corresponded with the observed effects. We have observed that an autoclave-resistant factor in soybeans is capable of reducing metastasis of radiation-induced lymphosarcoma and weight loss in C57Bl/6NCr1BR mice, presumably by preventing the extension and metastasis of cancer cells. Thus, in addition to the anticarcinogenic Bowman-Birk inhibitor, there appears to be another anticarcinogenic agent in soybeans which is capable of inhibiting the later stages of cancer cell development.  相似文献

In 42 children being in the advanced stage of an acute lymphoblastic leukaemia as well in 7 children with lymphosarcoma a total of 83 series of treatment with L-asparaginase were carried out. During the first blastic crisis of acute leukaemia 74% of complete or partial remissions could be obtained by two treatments and 52% by the following ones. The best results were obtained by organ manifestations of acute leukaemia (80% of complete or partial remissions). Less satisfactory results were achieved in treating lymphosarcoma. Summary Rabbit antisera to rat lymphosarcoma contain antibodies that agglutinate trypsinized rat erythrocytes. These reactions can be specifically inhibited by cytolipin R, a ceramide tetrasaccharide isolated from rat lymphosarcoma. The agglutinin in the rabbit antisera can be absorbed with untreated erythrocytes, showing that cytolipin R determinants are present in the intact rat erythrocyte membrane. Untreated erythrocytes are able to react with antibody, but presumably the number of cytolipin R determinants necessary for agglutination becomes available only after treatment with trypsin. The anti-cytolipin R antibodies in anti-rat lymphosarcoma sera that cause hemagglutination and those that fix complement with this hapten are different, since the agglutinin can be absorbed completely without appreciable decrease in complement-fixing antibody.A preliminary report was presented at the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, Atlantic City, N.J., April, 1969 (1969,Fed. I.C.R.F. 159, a new antitumour agent, has been assessed in six patients with acute leukaemia and three with lymphosarcoma. In all but two there was a considerable fall in circulating primitive cells, and in one there was bone-marrow evidence of a partial remission. Severe toxic effects were seen in only one case; they consisted of alopecia and gastroenteritis. It is suggested that I.C.R.F. 159 is worth further examination in all forms of acute leukaemia and lymphosarcoma.  相似文献

Monocytopoietic proliferation activity was investigated in patients with untreated Hodgkin's disease, Hodgkin's disease in long-term complete remission, and untreated non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the lymphosarcoma and reticulosarcoma type. Untreated Hodgkin's disease was found to be associated with a rise in medullary monocyte production which returned to normal during long-term complete remissions. In contrast, monocyte production was increased in only 5 out of 14 patients with lymphosarcoma and reticulum cell sarcoma, normal in 3, and reduced in 6. In neither of these lymphomas was any relation between monocyte production and stage or histology of the disease detectable.  相似文献

Various fractions of the immune nuclear RNA were isolated from spleens of phage T2 immunized rats. The fractions were compared for their ability to induce anti-phage T2 antibody synthesis in transplantable lymphosarcoma cells. The most active proved to be the nuclear sap RNA and its subfraction with sedimentation constant of 10 S. The 4S and 26S subfractions RNA were less stable and in some experiments failed to induce antibody synthesis.  相似文献

Total glycosaminoglycan levels are similar from subcutaneous, ascites and mesenteric forms of the P1798 lymphosarcoma. However, P1798 cells implanted subcutaneously produce a solid tumor rich in hyaluronic acid with lesser amounts of chondroitin 4-/6-sulfates as well as an undersulfated species of chondroitin sulfate, while cells implanted intraperitoneally produce ascites tumors which generate hyaluronic acid, almost exclusively. Mice bearing advanced ascites tumors develop solid mesenteric tumors which exhibit chondroitin 4-/6-sulfates and under-sulfated chondroitin sulfate in addition to hyaluronic acid.  相似文献
