Two new species of Jatropha (Euphorbiaceae) from Somalia

The new species Jatropha miskatensis , from limestone slopes of the Cal Miskaat Range in north-eastern Somalia, and J. marmorata , from bushland on shallow soil over limestone just south of the Nugaal valley in north-eastern Somalia, are described. An illustration is provided for J. miskatensis.     

Two new species of Vigna (Leguminosae) from Somalia

The new species Vigna monantha ( V. subgen. Vigna sect. Catjang ) from coastal dunes of northern and central Somalia, and V. virescens ( V. subgen. Macrorhynchus ) from the inland of central and southern Somalia are described and illustrated. V. virescens is unique in Vigna by having branched stylar hairs, a character indicating a relationship between V. subgen. Macrorhynchus and the monotypic Wajira.     

Two new species of Dyschoriste (Acanthaceae) from Somalia

The new species Dyschoriste bayensis, from a granitic inselberg in southern Somalia, and D. miskatensis, from open bushland on limestone in north-eastern Somalia, are described and illustrated.     

Two new species of Polygala (Polygalaceae) from Somalia

The new species Polygala praetermissa , a dwarf perennial herb growing in stony places on limestone, and P. dasanensis , a shrublet apparently confined to gypsum, are described. Both species occur in the Cal Miskaat Range in north-eastern Somalia, but P. praetermissa has a wider distribution in northern Somalia.     

Two new species of Ormocarpum (Leguminosae) from Somalia

Ormocarpum gillettii and O. rectangulare from respectively central and southern Somalia are described and illustrated.     

Two new species of Monadenium (Euphorbiaceae) from Somalia

Two species of Monadenium, M. gillettii related to M. ellenbeckii , and M. lindenii related to M. virgatum are described as new endemics of Somalia.     

Two new species of Crotalaria (Leguminosae) from Somalia

The new, closely related species Crotalaria mudugensis and C. camptosepala , with vicarious distributions in central Somalia, are described and illustrated. The two species are regarded as members of C. sect. Crotalaria along with the related C. verdcourtii and C. deflersu that have previously been placed in sect. Hedriocarpae.     

Two new species of Acacia (Leguminosae) from north-eastern Somalia

Acacia qandalensis , sp. nov., and A. tephrophylla , sp. nov., from north-eastern Somalia, are described and illustrated. A. qandalensis grows on limestone rocks, often in steep and exposed places, and is known from 600–1400 m altitude from the Cal Miskaat Mts in the west to near Bunder Murrayha in the east. A. tephropkylla obviously has a more restricted area of distribution and is known only from stony or rocky places on limestone at 1300–1800 m altitude in the Cal Miskaat Mts, where it is the dominant woody plant over large areas. Both species are related to A. etbaica.     

Two new species of Dicoma (Asteraceae) from Somalia and Ethiopia

Two new species of the genus Dicoma, D. popeana from Somalia and D. aethiopica from Ethiopia, both of the section Psilocoma , are described and illustrated. The two species are distinguished from D. anomala and other similar taxa by a morphologic diagnostic key.     

Two new species of the genus Dicoma (Asteraceae) from Somalia

Two new species, Dicoma gillettii and Dicoma scoparia (Asteraceae), both from Somalia, are described and illustrated. The differences between the new species and related taxa are listed.     

Two new Neogaillonia species (Rubiaceae, tribe Paederieae) from Somalia

Two new species of Neogaillonia, N. somaliensis and N. calcicola , both endemic to NE Somalia, are described. Palynological data are given for both species. Relationships to other taxa of Neogaillonia and the "Gaillonia complex" are discussed.     

A new species of Polycarpaea (Caryophyllaceae) from Somalia

The new species Polycarpaea basaltica , from an area of basalt rocks at the coast of northern Somalia, is described and illustrated.     

A new species of Rhytidocaulon (Apocynaceae) from Somalia

Rhytidocaulon baricum, sp. nov., from open rocky limestone slopes in northeastern Somalia, is described and illustrated.     

A new species of Scutellaria (Lamiaceae) from Somalia

The new species Scutellaria somalensis, from limestone slopes in north-eastem Somalia, is described and illustrated.     

A new species of Croton (Euphorbiaceae) from Somalia

Croton crispatus , sp. nov., from Acacia-Commiphora bushland on sand in central Somalia, is described and illustrated.     

A new species of Otostegia (Lamiaceae) from Somalia

A new species from gypsum plains in northern Somalia, Otostegia ericoidea Ryding is described and illustrated.     

A new species of Cyphostemma (Vitaceae) from Somalia

Cyphostemma cornus-africani , sp. nov., from rocky limestone slopes in north-eastern Somalia, is described and illustrated.     

A new species of Phyllanthus (Euphorbiaceae) from Somalia

Phyllanthus lunifolius sp. nov., a completely prostrate dwarf shrub from limestone rocks in the coastal part of central Somalia, is described and illustrated.     

A new species of Farsetia (Brassicaceae) from Somalia

Farsetia frutkans , sp. nov., from a limestone escarpment of NE Somalia is described and illustrated.
