Three strains (LM008T, LM068 and LM078T), representing two novel yeast species were isolated from the phylloplane of three plant species by an enrichment technique. On the basis of morphological, biochemical, physiological and chemotaxonomic characteristics, and the sequence analysis of the D1/D2 domain of the large subunit rRNA gene and the internal spacer region, the three strains were assigned as two novel Candida species. Strain LM008T was assigned to be Candida sirachaensis sp. nov. (type strain LM008T = BCC 47628T = NBRC 108605T CBS 12094T) in the Starmerella clade. Two strains (LM068 and LM078T) represent a single species in the Lodderomyces-Spathaspora clade for which the name Candida sakaeoensis sp. nov. is proposed with the type strain LM078T = BCC 47632T = NBRC 108895T = CBS 12318T.  相似文献

In a taxonomic study of yeasts isolated from decaying plant materials submerged in water of mangrove forests in Thailand, three strains isolated from tree bark (EM33T), a fallen leaf (EM40T) and a detached branch (SM56T) were found to represent three novel yeast species. On the basis of morphological, biochemical, physiological and chemotaxonomic characteristics, the sequence analysis of the D1/D2 domain of the large subunit (LSU) rRNA gene, and the phylogenetic analysis, the three strains were assigned as three novel Candida species. They were named as Candida chanthaburiensis sp. nov. (type strain EM33T = BCC 23057T = NBRC 102176T = CBS 10926T), Candida kungkrabaensis sp. nov. (type strain EM40T = BCC 23060T = NBRC 102179T = CBS 10927T), and Candida suratensis sp. nov. (type strain SM56T = BCC 25961T = NBRC 103858T = CBS 10928T).  相似文献

Three ascosporogenous yeast strains were isolated from the gut of the passalid beetle, Odontotaenius disjunctus, inhabiting on rotten oak trees. DNA sequence comparison and other taxonomic characteristics identified the strains as a novel species in the genus Kazachstania. The name Kazachstania intestinalis sp. nov. (type strain EH085T = ATCC MYA-4658T = CBS 11839T) is proposed for the strains. The yeast is homothallic, producing persistent asci with 1–4 spheroidal ascospores. Molecular phylogeny from ribosomal RNA gene sequences placed this novel species on the basal lineage of a clade including Kazachstania lodderae, Kazachstania exigua, Kazachstania martiniae, and other related Kazachstania spp., but none of those species was a close sister to K. intestinalis.  相似文献

An actinomycete strain, which was designated 172115T, was isolated from mangrove soil in Shenzhen, China. Strain 172115T fell within the genus Streptomyces in the 16S rRNA gene tree and could be grouped into this genus based on its chemotaxonomic and morphological data. The strain shared the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities with Streptomyces lanatus NBRC 12787T (AB184845) (98.29%) and Streptomyces lucensis NBRC 13056T (AB184280) (98.26%). The DNA–DNA hybridization values between strain 172115T and the two most closely related type strains were low enough to justify the assignment of the strain to a novel species. On the basis of these phenotypic, phylogenetic and chemotaxonomic characteristics, 172115T represents a novel species of the genus Streptomyces, for which, the name Streptomyces shenzhenensis sp. nov. is proposed for strain 172115T (=CCTCC AA 2011001T=DSM 42034T).  相似文献

Four ascosporulating strains of an undescribed methanol-assimilating yeast species were isolated from forest habitats in Hungary. Three were recovered from rotten wood and one from leaves of a sessile oak (Quercus petraea). An additional isolate of the undescribed species sharing similar phenotypic characters with the above-noted strains was recovered from the gut of an unidentified beetle collected from under the bark of a coniferous tree in Bulgaria. A closely related, but somewhat divergent strain was recovered from insect frass in a Ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa) collected in New Mexico, USA. Analysis of the D1/D2 sequences of the LSU rRNA gene placed the new species in the Ogataea clade. The ITS and the D1/D2 LSU sequences of the rRNA gene repeats were compared for the above-noted strains and that of the type strain of Ogataea zsoltii, the closest neighbour among currently recognized Ogataea species. Their relatedness was investigated by parsimony network analysis as well. As a result of the sequence analysis, it was concluded that the six strains isolated from tree associated habitats represent a single new yeast species. Ogataea saltuana sp. nov. is proposed to accommodate these strains. The type strain NCAIM Y.01833T (CBS 10795T, NRRL Y-48448T) was recovered from rotten wood of Scotch pine (Pinus silvestris) in Hungary. The GenBank accession number for the D1/D2 domain nuclear large subunit rRNA gene sequence of strain NCAIM Y.01833T (CBS 10795T, NRRL Y-48448T) is EU327033. A strictly aerobic, gram-negative, non-motile, reddish-pink pigmented, rod-shaped strain designated N5EA6-3A2BT, was isolated from an unidentified marine sponge by use of a bait-streaked agar technique. Phylogenetic analyses based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that the novel isolate represented a distinct and deep evolutionary lineage of descent in the family Flammeovirgaceae within the phylum Bacteroidetes and clustered with as yet uncultured bacteria. The most closely related established species was Roseivirga spongicola UST030701-084T (89% sequence similarity) in the family of Flammeovirgaceae. The strain could be differentiated phenotypically and physiologically from recognized members of the family Flammeovirgaceae. The G+C content of DNA was 43 mol%, the major respiratory quinone was menaquinone 7 (MK-7) and iso-C15:0, C16:1ω5c and iso-C17:0 3-OH were the major fatty acids. From the distinct phylogenetic position and combination of genotypic and phenotypic characteristics, the name Porifericola rhodea gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. Two strains representing a single novel yeast species were isolated from a flower of Calycoopteris floribunda Lame (SK170T) and insect frass (ST-122) collected in Thailand. On the basis of morphological, biochemical, physiological and chemotaxonomic characteristics, and the sequence analysis of the D1/D2 domain of the large subunit rRNA gene and the internal transcribed spacer region, the two strains were assigned as a single novel Candida species in the Hyphopichia clade for which the name Candida wangnamkhiaoensis sp. nov. is proposed. The taxonomic study of two Gram-negative, aerobic, non-pigmented bacteria KMM 9010T and KMM 9023T isolated from a sandy sediment sample collected from the Sea of Japan seashore was performed. On the basis of the nearly complete 16S rRNA gene sequences, strains KMM 9010T and KMM 9023T clustered with the Roseobacter lineage (class Alphaproteobacteria) forming a distinct phylogenetic line adjacent to the genus Donghicola. Novel strains shared the highest sequence similarity of 96.4% to each other and lower than 96.1% similarities to other validly named genera of the class Alphaproteobacteria. In both strains, ubiquinone Q-10 was found to be the major respiratory quinone; phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidic acid, and an unknown aminolipid were the major polar lipids and C18:1ω7c and 11-methyl C18:1ω7c were predominant fatty acids. The DNA G+C content was 60.5 mol% (KMM 9010T) and 65.4 mol% (KMM 9023T). Based on phenotypic properties and phylogenetic evidence, strains KMM 9010T and KMM 9023T should be classified as two novel species in a new genus, Poseidonocella gen. nov., with Poseidonocella pacifica sp. nov., the type species with the type strain KMM 9010T (= NRIC 0794T = JCM 17310T), and Poseidonocella sedimentorum sp. nov. as the second species with the type strain KMM 9023T (= NRIC 0796T = JCM 17311T).  相似文献

Ten strains of a new endophytic ascospore-forming, methanol-assimilating yeast were isolated from the galls induced by sawflies on the leaves of willows in the Losiny Ostrov National Park (Moscow region). Standard phenotypical tests and phylogenetic analyses of 18S rRNA gene, 5.8S-ITS gene region and 26S rRNA gene (D1/D2 domains) sequences showed that the species belongs to the genus Ogataea. We describe it as Ogataea cecidiorum and designate type culture KBP Y-3846 (= CBS 11522T = VKM Y-2982T = VKPM Y-3482T = MUCL 52544T = NCAIM Y.01965T) as the type strain. Strain M1-2T was isolated from the black sand from the seashore of Jeju Island, Republic of Korea and was classified using a polyphasic taxonomic approach. Strain M1-2T appeared as Gram-negative, motile rods that could grow in the presence of 1–10% (w/v) NaCl and at temperatures ranging from 4 to 37°C. This isolate has catalase and oxidase activity and hydrolyses aesculin, DNA and l-tyrosine. Based on phylogenetic analysis using 16S rRNA gene sequences, strain M1-2T belongs to the genus Joostella and is clearly distinct from the other described species of this genus, Joostella marina (type strain En5T). The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity level between M1-2T and J. marina En5T is 97.2%, and the DNA–DNA relatedness value between the two strains is 23.9%. Strain M1-2T contains MK-6 as the major menaquinone and iso-C15:0, summed feature 3 (C16:1 ω7c and/or iso-C15:0 2OH) and iso-C17:0 3OH as major cellular fatty acids. The DNA G + C content is 32.3 mol%. These data suggest that strain M1-2T should be classified as a novel species, for which the name Joostella atrarenae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain for the novel species is M1-2T (= KCTC 23194T = NCAIM B.002413T).  相似文献

A novel anamorphic yeast strain, A1-01T, belonging to the genus Rhodotorula was isolated from a plant in Taiwan and analysed morphologically, physiologically and phylogenetically. Neither ballistoconidia nor sexual reproduction was observed. Sequence analysis of the 26S rRNA gene and the ITS region indicate that Rhodosporidium sphaerocarpum is the most closely related species, with 14 and 24 nucleotide substitutions, respectively. The novel species differed physiologically from R. sphaerocarpum in its ability to assimilate ethylamine and cadaverine, its inability to assimilate ethanol and nitrite. From these comparative analyses, the following novel yeast species is proposed: Rhodotorula taiwanensis sp. nov. with the type strain of A1-01T (BCRC 23118T = CBS 11729T).  相似文献

Halophilic archaeal strains R26T and R22 were isolated from the brown alga Laminaria produced at Dalian, Liaoning Province, China. Cells from the two strains were pleomorphic rods and Gram negative, and colonies were red pigmented. Strains R26T and R22 were able to grow at 20–50°C (optimum 37°C) in 1.4–5.1 M NaCl (optimum 3.1–4.3 M) at pH 5.5–9.5 (optimum pH 8.0–8.5) and neither strain required Mg2+ for growth. Cells lyse in distilled water and the minimum NaCl concentration required to prevent cell lysis was 8% (w/v) for strain R26T and 12% (w/v) for strain R22. The major polar lipids of the two strains were phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol phosphate methyl ester and minor phosphatidylglycerol sulfate; glycolipids were not detected. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA genes and rpoB′ genes revealed that strains R26T and R22 formed a distinct clade with the closest relative, Natronoarchaeum mannanilyticum. The DNA G+C content of strains R26T and R22 was 65.8 and 66.4 mol%, respectively. The DNA–DNA hybridization value between strains R26T and R22 was 89%. The phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic properties suggest that the strains R26T and R22 represent a novel species in a new genus within the family Halobacteriaceae, for which the name Salinarchaeum laminariae gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. Taxonomic studies were performed on three strains isolated from Cheonho reservoir in Cheonan, Korea. The isolates were Gram-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped, non-motile, catalase-positive, and oxidase-positive. Colonies on solid media were cream-yellow, smooth, shiny, and circular. Phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that these strains belong to the genus Flavobacterium. The strains shared 98.6–99.4% sequence similarity with each other and showed less than 97% similarity with members of the genus Flavobacterium with validly published names. The DNA-DNA hybridization results confirmed the separate genomic status of strains ARSA-42T, ARSA-103T, and ARSA-108T. The isolates contained menaqui-none-6 as the predominant menaquinone and iso-C15:0, iso-C15:0 3-OH, iso-Ci15:1 G, and iso-C16:0 3-OH as the major fatty acids. The genomic DNA G+C content of the isolates were 31.4–33.2 mol%. According to the phenotypic and genotypic data, these organisms are classified as representative of three novel species in the genus Flavobacterium, and the name Flavobacterium koreense sp. nov. (strain ARSA-42T =KCTC 23182T =JCM 17066T =KACC 14969T), Flavobacterium chungnamense sp. nov. (strain ARSA-103T =KCTC 23183T =JCM 17068T =KACC 14971T), and Flavobacterium cheonanense sp. nov. (strain ARSA-108T =KCTC 23184T =JCM 17069T =KACC 14972) are proposed.  相似文献

Two novel ascomycetous yeast species, Saturnispora serradocipensis and Saturnispora gosingensis, were isolated from leaf detritus in a tropical stream of Southeastern Brazil and a mushroom collected in Taiwan, respectively. Analysis of the D1/D2 domains of the large-subunit of the rRNA gene of these strains showed that these species are related to Saturnispora hagleri, their closest relative. Saturnispora serradocipensis and S. gosingensis differed from S. hagleri, respectively, by seven nucleotide substitutions and two indels and three nucleotide substitutions and three indels in D1/D2 rRNA sequences. The two new species differ from each another by four nucleotide substitutions and one indel in D1/D2 rRNA sequences. However, the ITS sequences of S. serradocipensis, S. gosingensis and S. hagleri were quite divergent, showing that they are genetically separate species. The type strain of S. serradocipensis is UFMG-DC-198T (=CBS 11756T = NRRL Y-48717T), and of S. gosingensis GA4M05T is (CBS 11755T = NRRL Y-48718T).  相似文献

Two yeast morphotypes, BET 4T and BET 7, were isolated from the gut of click beetle Melanotus villosus. Click beetles were collected from the decaying timber within the woodlands of North Wyke Research, South West England, UK (latitude, 50°46′29″N; longitude, 3°55′23″W). Morphotype BET 7 was identified as Debaryomyces hansenii, and the other morphotype, BET 4T, was found to differs from Priceomyces castillae and Priceomyces haplophilus, its closest phylogenetic neighbours, by 5.0% with respect to the nucleotide sequence of the D1/D2 domain of the large-subunit (LSU) rRNA gene, and by 8.0% with respect to the ribosomal internal-transcribed spacer (ITS) region. BET 4T also differ from P. castillae and P. haplophilus in a number of different phenotypic characteristics. Thus, based on the unique nucleotide sequences of its D1/D2 domain and ITS region, its physiological characteristics and an inability to sporulate, strain BET 4T is assigned the status of a new species of Candida, for which the name Candida northwykensis sp. nov., is proposed. The taxonomic position of a Gram-positive, endo-spore forming bacterium isolated from a haematite ore sample was analyzed by a polyphasic approach. The strain designated as HIO-4T matched most of the phenotypic and chemical characteristics of the genus Cohnella and represents a novel species. The sequence of the almost complete 16S rRNA (1489 bases) was compared with those of previously studied Cohnella type strains and confirmed that the strain belongs to the genus Cohnella. Strain HIO-4T differs from all other species of Cohnella by at least 3.9% at the 16S rRNA level and the moderately related species are Cohnella phaseoli (96.1%) and Cohnella yongneupensis (96.1%), respectively. Predominant polar lipids are diphosphatidylglycerol (DPG), phosphatidylglycerol (PG), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE); few unknown phospholipids, mannose containing lipid, aminophospholipid and aminophosphoglycolipids. The results of physiological and biochemical tests allowed the genotypic and phenotypic distinctiveness of strain HIO-4T with its phylogenetic relatives and suggest that the strain HIO-4T should be recognized as a novel species, for which the name Cohnella ferri sp. nov. is proposed. The alphaproteobacterial strain JLT2003T was isolated from surface seawater off the coast of Guishan island, Taiwan. The strain was Gram negative, ovoid or coccoid, non-motile and formed pink colonies on marine agar 2216 (MA; DIFCO) medium. The dominant fatty acids were C18:1ω7c, cyclo C19:0ω8c, and C16:0. The polar lipid profile consisted of diphosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylglycerol. The major respiratory ubiquinone was Q-10. The DNA G+C content was 62.3 mol%. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that the strain was most closely related to Pontibaca methylaminivorans GRP21T with 94.8% similarity. The isolate was distinguishable from members of the family Rhodobacteraceae based on phenotypic and biochemical characteristics. On the basis of the taxonomic data presented, strain JLT2003T is considered to represent a novel species of a new genus, for which the name Oceaniovalibus guishaninsula gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. A new ascomycetous yeast species, Candida neustonensis is proposed in this study based on four strains (SN92T, SN47, SJ22, SJ25) isolated from sea surface microlayer in Taiwan. These four yeast strains were morphologically, physiologically and phylogenetically identical to each other. No sexual reproduction was observed on 5% malt extract agar, corn meal agar, V8 agar, McClary’s acetate agar and potato-dextrose agar. Phylogenetic analysis of the sequences of the D1/D2 domain of the large subunit (LSU) rRNA gene places C. neustonensis as a member of the Pichia guilliermondii clade, it also reveals that the phylogenetically closest relatives of C. neustonensis are C. fukuyamaensis (4.4% divergence), C. xestobii (4.4% divergence) and P. guilliermondii (4.5% divergence). C. neustonensis also is clearly distinguished from other known species in the P. guilliermondii clade based on the results of physiology tests. From these comparison analyses, the following novel yeast species is proposed: Candida neustonensis sp. nov., with strain SN92T (= BCRC 23108T = JCM 14892T = CBS 11061T) as the type strain.  相似文献
