The Justicia striata complex is revised. Ten species are recognised, some of which are subdivided into subspecies and/or varieties. The morphological variation within the complex has been analysed by PC A and clustering methods. The complex is shown to be heterogeneous and the relationships with other parts of sect. Harnieria are discussed. Scatter diagrams, illustrations and distribution maps are also provided in addition to the enumeration of taxa.  相似文献

A new amide of threo-gamma-hydroxyglutamic acid, justiciamide, was isolated from Justicia ghiesbreghtiana and shown to be (-)-N-(2-hydroxy-4,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-(2 S,4 S)-gamma-hydroxyglutamic acid. Justiciamide is the first amide of an uncommon amino acid found in this genus.  相似文献

Five 2,4,6-prenylated phloroglucinols, garcinielliptones HA (1), HB (2), HC (3), HD (4) and HE (5), were isolated from the heartwood of Garcinia subelliptica Merr. Their structures, including relative configurations, were elucidated by means of spectroscopic data analysis. The ability of phloroglucinols, 1-5 and lignans, tuberculatin (8), justicidin A (9), procumbenoside A (10) and ciliatosides A (11) and B (12), isolated from Justicia ciliata and Justicia procumbens, to induce DNA-cleavage activity was examined using pBR322, a supercoiled, covalently closed circular DNA, and it was analyzed by agarose gel electrophoresis. In the presence of Cu (II), compounds 3, 8, 10 and 11 caused significant breakage of supercoiled plasmid pBR322. The products were relaxed circles with no detectable linear forms. In the Cu(II)-mediated DNA damage of 3 and selective compound 8, Cu(I) was shown not to be an essential intermediate by using the Cu(I)-specific sequestering reagent neocuproine.  相似文献

Antiulcerogenic effect of the alcoholic (ALJP) and aqueous (AQJP) extracts of the whole plant of Justicia prostrata was studied in aspirin+pylorus ligated rat models and analysed for gastric volume, ulcer index, free and total acidity. Biochemical parameters like total proteins, total hexoses, hexosamine, fucose and sialic acid were also estimated. Both extracts (ALJP and AQJP) significantly reduced both the gastric volume and the acidity of gastric juice. It also significantly promoted gastric mucus secretion by increasing total carbohydrates and decreasing the protein concentration in aspirin+ pylorus ligated rats. The results suggest that both the extracts (ALJP and AQJP) possess antiulcer activity, whereas AQJP is more effective when compared with ALJP in aspirin+pylorus ligated rat models. The results were compared with the standard drug Rantidine, a H2 receptor antagonist.  相似文献

Justicidin A, C22H18O7, mp 263°C and B, C21H16O6, mp 240°C were isolated as fish-killing components from Justicia Hayatai var. decumbens. The piscicidal activities of both compounds were demonstrated to be as strong as rotenone and about ten times stronger than that of pentachlorophenol.  相似文献
