A survey was conducted, during 2012/2013, to identify the causal agents of citrus gummosis in Tunisia. The obtained isolates were identified by molecular and pathological criteria. Three species of Pythium (P. aphanidermatum, P. ultimum and P. dissotocum) and two species of Phytopythium (P. vexans and P. mercuriale) were recovered. Pathogenic tests, using twigs inoculation method for five citrus varieties under laboratory conditions, showed necrotic lesions similar to those observed in natural infected citrus trees by gummosis. In greenhouse experiments, the pathogenicity of the species to citrus was demonstrated by soil and trunk inoculations. Results showed necrotic lesions in the trunk of the variety “Clementine”. P. ultimum is the most virulent, while P. mercuriale was the least virulent in trunk inoculation. Symptom of necrotic roots has been also observed. This is the first report of Pythium and Phytopythium species within the citrus area in Tunisia.  相似文献

Body size is one of the most significant features of organisms and is correlated with a large number of ecological and physiological variables. Similar to size, biological shape is one of the most conspicuous aspects of an organism's phenotype and provides a link between the genotype and the environment. Body size may change with altitude and also habitat differences associated with altitude may affect the biological shape and some morphological characteristics. Four populations of Aedes vexans Meigen occurring in different ecological subregions at altitudes between 808–1,620 m in the Aras Valley from northeastern Turkey were compared using traditional and geometric morphometrics. When the wing shape differences of populations were analyzed by UPGM, the cluster analyses recognized two main groups of populations. Gödekli (808 m) comprised the first group while Zülfikar (848 m), Sürmeli (944 m), and Cilehane (1,620 m) populations comprised the second group. In the second group, Zülfikar and Cilehane populations showed a similar grouping pattern while Sürmeli appeared as a different group. Centroid sizes were used as measures of overall wing size differences among different regions. Aedes vexans from the Sürmeli region had relatively larger wings.  相似文献

Stegomyia aegypti (= Aedes aegypti) (Diptera: Culicidae) is a species of mosquito that is currently widespread in Mexico. Historically, the mosquito has been distributed across most tropical and subtropical areas lower than 1700 m a.s.l. Currently, populations that are found at higher altitudes in regions with cold and dry climates suggest that these conditions do not limit the colonization and population growth of S. aegypti. During a survey of mosquitoes in September 2015, larvae of S. aegypti mosquitoes were found in two different localities in Mexico City, which is located at about 2250 m a.s.l. Mexico City is the most populous city in Mexico and has inefficient drainage and water supply systems. These factors may result in the provision of numerous larval breeding sites. Mosquito monitoring and surveillance are now priorities for the city.  相似文献

Losses due to postharvest decay may occur at any time during postharvest handling, from harvest to consumption affecting the produce quality and quantity. Accurate identification of the pathogen causing postharvest disease is essential to the selection of an appropriate disease control approach. Nine isolates of Fusarium recovered from orange fruit were identified as Fusarium solani. The fungus is involved with fruit decay. The obtained cultures were purified and grown on potato-dextrose agar (PDA), malt yeast agar (MYA), and Czapek's nutrient media (CNM) under light for identification. A pathogenicity test was carried out to fulfil Koch's postulates. The pathogen could only enter ripe orange fruit through wounds and cracks causing the rot disease. The identification of the fungal isolates was confirmed to be F. solani by DNA sequencing, which was 99 to 100% homologous to those deposited in the Gen- Bank. The identity of nine fungal isolates was confirmed to be F. solani by DNA sequencing of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) rDNA region (GenBank Accession Nos. DQ486874 to DQ486881 and KC758879). To our knowledge, this is the first morphogenetic identification of F. solani isolated from orange fruit in Egypt.  相似文献

Metarhizium anisopliae is a complex of cryptic species with wide geographical distribution and versatile lifestyles. In this study, 45 isolates of the Metarhizium genus harbored in the “Colección de Hongos Entomopatógenos” of the “Centro Nacional de Referencia de Control Biológico” from different substrates, insect-host, and localities from Colima, Mexico, were phylogenetically identified using the 5′end of translation elongation factor 1-α (5′TEF) and intergenic nuclear region MzFG543igs. Seven species were recognized, M. acridum (n = 26), M. pemphigi (n = 1), and within the PARB and MGT clades: M. anisopliae (N = 7; sensu stricto: n = 2; sensu lato: n = 5), M. brunneum (n = 2), M. guizhouense (n = 2), M. pingshaense (n = 2), and M. robertsii (n = 5). Twenty-nine SSR markers were developed for M. acridum; according to the analysis of 12 polymorphic SSR loci, M. acridum showed low genetic diversity, revealing five genotypes with a dominant one (n = 21). Based on the analysis of 13 specific SSR loci, 14 genotypes were identified within the PARB and MGT clades. This study contributes to generating valuable information about the community structure and genotypic diversity of Metharhizum species in the state of Colima, Mexico.  相似文献

The main continental nesting rookeries of the east Pacific green turtle (EPGT), Chelonia mydas, on the Michoacan (Mexico) coast suffered drastic population declines following intense exploitation in the 1960s--1970s with annual abundance of nesting females plummeting from about 25,000 to an average of about 1400 between 1982 and 2001. Analyses of data from three nDNA microsatellite loci and 400 bp mtDNA control region sequences from a total of 123 nesting females sampled from four Michoacan rookeries found no evidence of population sub-structuring. The recent order of magnitude reduction in the population size shows no apparent impact on genetic diversity in either control region sequences (overall h = 0.48; pi = 0.0036) or microsatellite loci (overall Na = 20.8; Hexp = 0.895). Our estimates of annual effective female population size (Nef; from theta = 2Nemicron) of 1.9-2.3 x 10(3), in spite of being an order of magnitude below historical records, appear to be sufficient to allow recovery of this population without significant loss of genetic diversity. These findings highlight the importance of continued conservation to reverse the decline of this population before it becomes vulnerable to genetic erosion.  相似文献

The family Palaeosetidae is newly recorded from mainland China. A new species of the genus Ogygioses, O. maoershana sp. nov., is described from Guangxi Province, China. The adults, male and female genitalia, venation, head and legs structures are illustrated. Some ecological information and a key to all species of the genus are also provided. The phylogenetic position of the new species in the genus Ogygioses is inferred as intermediate between primitive O. luangensis Kristensen and other four derived species based on morphological characters and DNA barcodes sequences.www.zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:D1FD6818-500A-4AE1-9F0B-13CB5A6E1ED4.  相似文献

Spadix rot was reported in Anthurium andraeanum cultivation farms in southern Thailand. The pathogen was identified as Lasiodiplodia theobromae, based on morphology and the nucleotide sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and translation elongation factor 1-α (EF1-α) genes. Pathogenicity test proved Koch's postulates, supporting that L. theobromae caused spadix rot in A. andraeanum. To our knowledge, this is the first report of L. theobromae causing spadix rot in A. andraeanum, in Thailand and elsewhere.  相似文献

Active catches of adult females of Aedes vexans arabiensis Patton, (Diptera: Culicidae) Patton by nets or aspirator, were conducted in 2003 and 2004 in the vegetation at the edge of temporary ponds in Barkedji, Senegalese Ferlo area. Two hundred and forty-one engorged females were captured, dissected and the gut content adsorbed on a Whatman filter paper and analysed using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique to determinate the bloodmeal origin. Results indicated that Ae v. arabiensis fed primarily on mammals, including horses (35.7% of the bloodmeals), but also on birds (10%). Moreover, associations between horses and birds accounted for 42% of the mixed bloodmeals. These results show an opportunistic feeding behaviour and suggest that Ae v. arabiensis is a probable vector bridging the West Nile virus between horses and birds hosts in the Ferlo area.  相似文献

During the 2009 and the 2010 growing seasons, a root rot disease has been detected on young potted Persea americana plants in two nurseries located in the Catania and Messina provinces (eastern Sicily, Italy). A Cylindrocarpon sp. was consistently recovered from pieces of symptomatic tissues on Petri dishes containing potato dextrose agar. On the basis of morphological characteristics and molecular identification by DNA sequencing and phylogenetic analysis of internal transcribed spacer and β‐tubulin gene regions, the causal agent was identified as Ilyonectria (=Neonectria) macrodidyma. Koch’s postulates were fulfilled by pathogenicity tests carried out on potted P. americana seedlings. To our knowledge, this is the first to report worldwide of the occurrence of a disease caused by I. macrodidyma on P. americana.  相似文献

The L1014F mutation in the voltage‐sodium channel gene has been associated with resistance to DDT and pyrethroids in various arthropod species including mosquitoes. We determined the frequency of the L1014F kdr mutation in 16 field populations of Culex quinquefasciatus from Northeastern Mexico collected between 2008 and 2013. The L1014F was present in all populations analyzed with the lowest frequency (3.33%) corresponding to the population from Monclova collected in 2012, and the highest frequency (63.63%) from the Monterrey population collected in 2012. The presence of a kdr mutation in populations of Cx. quinquefasciatus from northeastern Mexico provides evidence of pyrethroid resistance. This requires a special attention, considering that pyrethroid‐based insecticides are commonly used in vector‐control campaigns, especially against Aedes aegypti (L.).  相似文献

Panax notoginseng is a highly valuable herb, but root rot disease severely impairs its development and decreases the yield and quality of roots. In this study, a fungal isolate (3A-2-2) was obtained from P. notoginseng seedlings with root rot symptoms and was identified as Plectosphaerella plurivora based on morphological characteristics and molecular analysis. The fungal isolate 3A-2-2 could cause root rot disease and be re-isolated, fulfilling Koch's postulates. This is the first study to report on root rot disease caused by P. plurivora on P. notoginseng in China.  相似文献

Despite their prominent role for tree growth, few studies have examined the occurrence of ectomycorrhizal fungi in lowland, seasonally dry tropical forests (SDTF). Although fruiting bodies of boletes have been observed in a dry tropical forest on the Northern Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico, their occurrence is rare and their mycorrhizal status is uncertain. To determine the trophic status (mycorrhizal vs. saprotrophic) of these boletes, fruiting bodies were collected and isotopically compared to known saprotrophic fungi, foliage, and soil from the same site. Mean δ15N and δ13C values differed significantly between boletes and saprotrophic fungi, with boletes 8.0‰ enriched and 2.5‰ depleted in 15N and 13C, respectively relative to saprotrophic fungi. Foliage was depleted in 13C relative to both boletes and saprotrophic fungi. Foliar δ15N values, on the other hand, were similar to saprotrophic fungi, yet were considerably lower relative to bolete fruiting bodies. Results from this study provide the first isotopic evidence of ectomycorrhizal fungi in lowland SDTF and emphasize the need for further research to better understand the diversity and ecological importance of ectomycorrhizal fungi in these forested ecosystems.  相似文献

A sum of 218 composite rhizosphere soil samples were collected from around the feeder roots of mango, Mangifera indica growing in Jazan region, the tropical south west corner of Saudi Arabia. Samples were rendered for nematodes extraction using the centrifugal floatation method, and the stylet-bearing nematodes were morphologically identified according to the standardized taxonomical keys. A list of 14 stylet-bearing nematode genera and/or species were found to be associating the roots of mango in this study. Species identification of the most important parasitic nematodes, in this list, was carried-out, based on morphometrics and morphological features. Identification of these species was then molecularly confirmed using the D3 expansion region of 28S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene. These nematodes included; Tylenchorhynchus mediterraneus, Hoplolaimus seinhorsti, Hemicriconemoides strictathecatus, Longidorus latocephalus and Xiphinema elongatum. Some new local nematode-host records in Saudi Arabia were recorded including; Aphelenchus sp., H. strictathecatus, L. latocephalus, and T. mediterraneus. Some new world nematode-host records were also reported including; L. latocephalus and T. mediterraneus.  相似文献

This is the first record of the Pacific seahorse Hippocampus ingens at a northern oceanic island from the eastern Pacific Ocean. The photographic record of the juvenile female H. ingens was made in November 2015 during a cage diving trip at Guadalupe Island, Mexico. The presence of H. ingens in this area could be related to long distance dispersal mechanisms, as has been observed in other species of seahorses.  相似文献

The genus Spondias belongs to the Anacardiaceae family, with about 18 species, having significant economic and social importance and with some species used in the agricultural industry, however, problems are encountered when trying to identify phylogenetic relationships among the species. The use of DNA barcoding is of importance to this group, allowing species identification at the molecular level and in determining the phylogenetic relationships within the group. The objective of this study is to obtain DNA barcoding and to determine the phylogenetic relationships among the species. For this, DNA from six species of the genus was extracted and amplified by PCR using sequences from the rbcL and matK genes and the trnH-psbA spacer gene, followed by sequencing using the Sanger method. The results show that the matK and rbcL genes cannot be used for DNA barcoding, because their discriminatory level between species is low. On the other hand, trnH-psbA shows a high level of discrimination, allowing most of the species to be identified. However it is not possible to separate Spondias venulosa and Spondias tuberosa. Phylogenetic analysis shows that Spondias mombim and S. tuberosa are distinct “umbucajá” clades, suggesting a non-hybrid origin for “umbucajá”.  相似文献
