Background
This study aimed to determine the seasonal changes of total antioxidant activity and phenolic compounds in samples taken from leaves (April, July, October) and stems (April, July, October, January) of some almond (Prunus amygdalus L.) varieties (Nonpareil, Ferragnes and Texas).Results
It was indicated that antioxidant activity and phenolic compounds in leaves and stems of Nonpareil, Ferragnes and Texas showed seasonal differences. Antioxidant activity IC50 of these varieties reached the highest value in April for leaves whereas in October for stems. The highest level of total phenolic compounds was in January for stems while in October for leaves.Conclusions
These results showed that total antioxidant activity and phenolics in leaves and stems of almond varieties changed according to season and plant organ. 相似文献2.

Date palm (P. dactylifera) plays a vital role in ethnomedicinal practices in several parts of the world. There are over 2000 cultivars of date palm that differ in chemical composition and extent of bioactivity. The present study was undertaken to comparatively evaluate the antioxidant potential of three cultivars of date palm (Ajwah, Safawy and Sukkari) from Saudi Arabia and analyze their phenolic constituents in order to draw a rationale for their activity. Antioxidant activities of the date cultivars were evaluated by different quantitative methods including 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and hydroxyl radical scavenging assay, total antioxidant capacity, reducing power, total phenolic (TPC), flavonoid (TFC) and tannin content (TTC), while qualitative phenolic composition was determined using ultra performance liquid chromatography coupled to quadropole time of flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-QTOF-MS). All the three date extracts showed good DPPH radical scavenging (IC50 103–177 μg/mL) and hydroxyl radical scavenging (IC50 1.1–1.55 mg/mL) activity and total antioxidant capacity (IC50 87–192 μg/mL). The reducing power was also comparable to that of ascorbic acid, used as standard in above experiments. All the three samples contain significant amount of major antioxidant components (phenolic, flavonoid and tannin) that successfully correlates with the results of radical scavenging assays. UPLC-QTOF-MS revealed a total of 22 compounds in these date cultivars classified into common phenolics, flavonoids, sterols and phytoestrogens. Significant variation in the degree of antioxidant activity of these three date cultivars can be attributed to the difference in the content and composition of phenolic compounds. 相似文献

Grape seeds (GS) are one of the most important by-products of the winery and grape juice industry. GS contain a vast array of health-giving metabolites, including several polyphenols known for their remarkable antioxidant activity. In this study, it has been evaluated the nutraceutical potential of seeds from 15 grapevine cultivars/clones in terms of total phenols, monomeric, dimer, polymeric, gallate esters flavan 3-ols composition and in vitro antiradical activity. Considerable quali-quantitative differences in polyphenol content and AA had been observed among GS from different cultivars/clones collected in 2013 and 2014. In most of the investigated cultivars/clones, the better values of TP, FL and AA were recorded in GS collected in 2014. The polymeric procyanidins were significantly higher in 2014 in all the cultivars, while the gallate esters were significantly higher in 2013. These differences can be attributed to different climatic conditions in 2013 and 2014. In conclusion, the data here reported help to identify the best source of GS for the recovery of bioactive polyphenols and to valorize these waste materials. 相似文献

目的在云南普洱茶、广州小青柑、广西六堡茶、湖南熙茯茶及陕西泾阳茯砖茶分离到9种真菌的基础上,探讨9种真菌发酵液和发酵茶沸水冲泡液的抗氧化酶活性。方法采用抗氧化试剂盒测定真菌发酵液及发酵茶沸水冲泡液的抗氧化酶活性;利用Past 3软件对9种真菌发酵液抗氧化酶活性和5种发酵茶沸水冲泡液的抗氧化酶活性进行主成分分析。结果通过比较不同真菌发酵液的抗氧化酶活性表明,小青柑中分离到阿曲霉Q1的CAT(过氧化氢酶)活性最高,酶活力单位为(4.37±0.15)U/mL,熙茯茶中分离到谢瓦曲霉X1的POD(过氧化物酶)活性最高,酶活力单位为(21.67±1.05)U/mL,其次为泾茯茶中分离到赤散囊菌J17,酶活力单位为(18.59±2.74)U/mL;六堡茶中分离到的黑曲霉L1的T-SOD(总超氧化物歧化酶)的活性最高,酶活力单位为(71.11±3.90)U/mL,其次为普洱茶中分离到篮状菌P1,酶活力单位为(59.29±1.42)U/mL;通过比较不同发酵茶沸水冲泡液的抗氧化酶活性表明,5种发酵茶的CAT(F=37.409,P0.01),POD(F=164.268,P0.01),T-SOD(F=26.639,P0.01)活性差异均有统计学意义。其中,泾茯茶冲泡液的CAT活性最高,而其余4种茶叶冲泡液均无CAT活性;普洱茶与泾茯茶冲泡液的POD活性最高,酶活力单位分别为(18.11±0.71)和(18.11±0.64)U/mL;普洱茶和六堡茶冲泡液的T-SOD活性最高,酶活力单位分别为(48.72±0.43)和(45.82±2.02)U/mL;通过对9种真菌发酵液抗氧化酶活性的PCA分析表明,谢瓦曲霉X1、赤散囊菌J17、阿曲霉Q1、烟曲霉Q2、绳状篮状菌Q3和冠突曲霉L2的抗氧化酶活性相近,篮状菌P1、篮状菌P2和黑曲霉L1的抗氧化酶活性相近;通过对5种发酵茶沸水冲泡液抗氧化酶活性的PCA分析表明,小青柑与熙茯茶沸水冲泡后的抗氧化酶活性相近,六堡茶、普洱茶和泾茯茶沸水冲泡后的抗氧化酶活性相近。结论不同发酵茶的优势真菌不同,其真菌发酵产物的抗氧化酶活性不同,且不同发酵茶冲泡液的抗氧化酶活性也不同。 相似文献

The methanolic extract of Pongamia pinnata L. Pierre (locally called as karanja) seed materials, an underutilized food legume collected from India was analyzed for antioxidant and type II diabetes related enzyme inhibition properties. The methanolic extract of raw seeds contained total free phenolic content of 14.85 ± 0.32 g catechin equivalent/100 g extract DM. Encouraging levels of ferric reducing/antioxidant power (FRAP, 1179 mmol Fe[II]/mg extract), inhibition of β-carotene degradation (41.13%) and radical scavenging activity against DPPH (54.64%) and superoxide (54.53%) were exhibited by the raw sample. Further, it also recorded 77.92% of α-amylase and 86.50% of α-glucosidase enzyme inhibition characteristics under in vitro starch digestion bioassay. Sprouting + oil-frying caused a apparent increase on the total free phenolic content and also significant improvement on the antioxidant and free radical scavenging capacity of P. pinnata seeds, while soaking + cooking as well as open-pan roasting treatments showed diminishing effects. Moreover, inhibition of α-amylase and α-glucosidase enzyme activities was declined to 24.24 and 45.14%, respectively during sprouting + oil-frying treatment, which are more desirable for the dietary management of type II diabetic patients. 相似文献

Besides the ontogenetic variation in biosynthesis and accumulation, the stress-induced and pathogenesis-related changes are emphasised. Lippia javanica and Lippia scaberrima are used as herbal remedies and are commercially traded as health teas in southern Africa under the brands “Mosukujane” and “Musukudu”, respectively. This study evaluates the relationship between the presence of phenolic compounds and the antioxidant activities of infusions prepared from four Lippia species (L. javanica, L. scaberrima, L. rehmannii and L. wilmsii) indigenous to South Africa. The antioxidant activities of the infusions, determined by the 2,2-diphenylpycrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method, were also compared to those of popular black, green and herbal tea brands. Of the four indigenous species, infusions of L. javanica and L. wilmsii exhibited the highest antioxidant activities (EC50: 358 and 525 µg/ml, respectively) and contained the most phenolic compounds (14.8 and 14.5 mg/ml of dry weight gallic acid equivalent, respectively). Antibacterial activities of methanolic extracts of the four Lippia species were determined against four human pathogens (Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). The extract of L. javanica was the most active against all the pathogens tested. Those Lippia species (L. javanica and L. wilmsii) previously reported to produce higher levels of the pharmacologically active phenylethanoid glycosides verbascoside and isoverbascoside, portrayed stronger antioxidant and antibacterial activities. Pistachio (Pistacia vera L.; Anacardiaceae) is native of aride zones of Central and West Asia and distributed throughout the Mediterranean basin. In Italy, a pistachio cultivar of high quality is typical of Bronte (Sicily), an area around the Etna volcano, where the lava land and climate allow the production of a nut with intense green colour and aromatic taste, very appreciated in international markets. Pistachio nuts are a rich source of phenolic compounds, and have recently been ranked among the first 50 food products highest in antioxidant potential. Pistachio nuts are often used after removing the skin, which thus represents a significant by-product of pistachio industrial processing. The present study was carried out to better characterize the phenolic composition and the antioxidant activity of Bronte pistachios, with the particular aim to evaluate the differences between pistachio seeds and skins. The total content of phenolic compounds in pistachios was shown to be significantly higher in skins than in seeds. By HPLC analysis, gallic acid, catechin, eriodictyol-7-O-glucoside, naringenin-7-O-neohesperidoside, quercetin-3-O-rutinoside and eriodictyol were found both in pistachio seeds than in skins; furthermore, genistein-7-O-glucoside, genistein, daidzein and apigenin appeared to be present only in pistachio seeds, while epicatechin, quercetin, naringenin, luteolin, kaempferol, cyanidin-3-O-galactoside and cyanidin-3-O-glucoside are contained only in pistachio skins. The antioxidant activity of pistachio seeds and skins were determined by means of four different assays (DPPH assay, Folin-Ciocalteau colorimetric method and TEAC assay, SOD-mimetic assay). As expected on the basis of the chemical analyses, pistachio skins have shown to possess a better activity with respect to seeds in all tests. The excellent antioxidant activity of pistachio skins can be explained by its higher content of antioxidant phenolic compounds. By HPLC-TLC analysis, gallic acid, catechin, cyanidin-3-O-galactoside, eriodictyol-7-O-glucoside and epicatechin appeared to be responsible for the antioxidant activity of pistachio skin, together with other unidentified compounds. In conclusion, our work has contributed to clarify some particular characteristics of Bronte pistachios and the specific antioxidant power of pistachio skins. Introduction of pistachios in daily diet may be of undoubted utility to protect human health and well-being against cancer, inflammatory diseases, cardiovascular pathologies and, more generally, pathological conditions related to free radical overproduction. Select lactic acid bacteria (LAB); Lactobacillus plantarum, L. casei and L. acidophilus were targeted for enhancing bioactives and flavor volatiles of cashew apple juice (CAJ) that is an underutilized byproduct from cashew nut processing in Tropical countries. Results indicated the vitamin C and phenolic metabolites such as condensed tannin can be increased at certain stages such as at 12 h over the 48 h fermentation period. Whereas antioxidant activity based on DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity generally decreased from initial unfermented stage range of (75%–95%) to consistently in the 50% range by 48 h of fermentation and this follows the decrease in viable counts. The fermentation process increased the condensed tannin contents in CAJ whereas hydrolysable tannins decreased. In this study the changes in flavor volatile types were also analyzed over the course of CAJ fermentation. The results indicated that LAB changed the flavor profiles of fermented CAJ and overall the fruity odor decreased, but the whiskey and acid odor increased. These results provide the foundation to further target the functional benefits of LAB-induced fermented CAJ for further human, animal, and plant health applications. 相似文献

A study using two classification methods (SDA and SIMCA) was carried out in this work with the aim of investigating the relationship between the structure of flavonoid compounds and their free-radical-scavenging ability. In this work, we report the use of chemometric methods (SDA and SIMCA) able to select the most relevant variables (steric, electronic, and topological) responsible for this ability. The results obtained with the SDA and SIMCA methods agree perfectly with our previous model, in which we used other chemometric methods (PCA, HCA and KNN) and are also corroborated with experimental results from the literature. This is a strong indication of how reliable the selection of variables is.

Storage of apple fruits ( Pyrus malus L. cv. Golden Delicious) at different temperatures (0, 12 and 35°C) markedly altered the pattern of water freezing in the seeds. Higher temperatures of storage brought about a shift from the sequential to the discontinuous type of freezing in seeds, the low temperature exotherm (LTE) being much more pronounced than the high temperature one (HTE). The occurrence of LTE was highly correlated with embryo death. Fruit storage at higher temperatures also caused a decrease in the threshold super cooling temperature of seeds and of naked embryos, removed from the seed coat and endosperm. The decrease was less pronounced in naked embryos than in intact seeds. The results presented show that the frost resistance of apple seeds relies mainly on the supercooling ability of the embryos and is increased by the presence of seed coat and endosperm. The broad peak of the LTE indicates that, in contrast with other seeds and many super cooling organs, massive ice nucleation in apple seeds occurs within the embryo tissues and that extra organ freezing seems to be of less importance. Therefore, the increased super cooling ability of apple seeds, isolated from fruits stored at higher temperatures, seems to rely on those seed properties that protect embryo cells against heterogeneous ice nucleation. 相似文献

【目的】从苹果根际土壤筛选苹果根系自毒物质降解细菌,并探究分离菌株对根皮苷、邻苯二甲酸、对羟基苯甲酸以及焦性没食子酸的降解能力。【方法】分别采用邻苯二甲酸、焦性没食子酸为唯一碳源富集并筛选其降解菌株。通过对分离菌株的生理生化特征测定及16S r RNA基因序列分析,采用MEGA 5构建系统发育树,进行菌株鉴定。采用紫外分光光度法和高效液相色谱法测定分离菌株对4种自毒物质的降解能力。【结果】共分离5株有降解能力的细菌,编号为BL1、BL2、BL3、BJ1和BJ2,经鉴定BL1为钩虫贪铜菌Cupriavidus necator,BL2为生脂固氮螺菌Azospirillum lipoferum,BL3为氧化烃微杆菌Microbacterium hydrocarbonoxydans,BJ1为Paenibacillus phyllosphaerae,BJ2为Ochrobactrum cytisi。BL1、BL2、BL3菌株对邻苯二甲酸、对羟基苯甲酸、根皮苷、焦性没食子酸的降解率均高于50%。其中BL2菌株的降解效果最好,分别达到66%、72%、84%和84%。【结论】首次发现钩虫贪铜菌、生脂固氮螺菌和氧化烃微杆菌对4种自毒物质均具有很好的降解能力,对缓解自毒物质引起的连作障碍具有潜在的应用价值。 相似文献

In continuation of our drug discovery programme on Indian medicinal plants, we isolated an unusual amino acid, i.e. 2-amino-5-hydroxyhexanoic acid (1) from the seeds of Crotalaria juncea. The 2-amino-5-hydroxyhexanoic acid (1) showed dose dependent lipid lowering activity in the in vivo experiments and also showed good in vitro antioxidant activity. The cyclized compound, 3-amino-6-methyltetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-one (2) showed better lipid lowering and antioxidant profile than the parent compound 1. 相似文献

Phenolic and other compounds were extracted from micropropagated axillary shoots (microshoots) of the walnut (Juglans regia L.) cultivars ‘Chandler’, ‘Howard’, ‘Kerman’, ‘Sunland’, and ‘Z63’. Among cultivars, microshoots showed differences in phenolic compounds, phenolic acids, flavonoids, and proanthocyanidins. All cultivars contained the phenolics acids chlorogenic acid, gallic acid, p-coumaric acid; the naphthoquinone juglone; and the flavonoid quercetin. The phenolic acids syringic acid and vanillin were present only in microshoots of ‘Howard’. Microshoot extracts had different antioxidant activity with ‘Kerman’ the highest and ‘Chandler’ the lowest in each of three antioxidant assays: the phosphomolybdenum assay (PPM), reducing power assay, and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl-scavenging effect. AbstractSelect LAB, including Lactobacillus fermentum TISTR 950, Lactobacillus plantarum TISTR 2265 and Lactobacillus casei TISTR 1500 were investigated for their ability to enhance GABA, TPC and the antioxidant activity of perilla seed juice. L. casei TISTR 1500 produced higher GABA and TPC contents and presented higher antioxidant activity than other strains. Furthermore, the optimal fermentation condition to perilla seeds inoculated with L. casei TISTR 1500 to improve the GABA, TPC and antioxidant activity was performed using 33 full factorial design. The final optimal values for perilla fermentation was found at fermentation time of 4.82 days (4 days 19?h 40?min), initial substrate of 5% (w/v) and fermentation temperature of 30.07?°C. Under the optimal fermentation condition, an observed values of GABA, TPC, ABTS, DPPH and FRAP were 71.46 µg/g, 3175.00 µg GAE/g, 1991.40 µg TEAC/g, 9178.29 µg TEAC/g and 7753.34 µg TEAC/g, respectively, which was 3.3, 0.9, 2.9, 10.8 and 10.2 times higher than that of unfermented perilla seeds, and 2.1, 0.8, 0.9, 10 and 9.2 times of fermented perilla seeds before the optimization. These results may provide the foundation to further target in industrial application for the production of plant-based and develop functional perilla seed products containing GABA.

This paper reports a comparative study based on the antioxidant compounds, total phenol content and antioxidant activities of leaves, stems and fruits from the main Tunisian cultivars, ‘chetoui’ and ‘chemchali’, grown in two different locations, north and south of Tunisia. The repartition of olive phenolic compounds was organ dependant. Therefore, the HPLC analysis indicated that the olive organs from the northern cultivar had the highest level of hydroxybenzoic acids, hydroxycinnamic acids and flavonoid class; which were less in the southern cultivar. Principal component analysis of the phenolic compounds showed discrimination between methanol extracts of the organs olive. Significant differences (p < 0.05) in the levels of phenols, orthodiphenols and flavonoids were found between cultivars and between organs. Antioxidant activities of the methanolic extract from aerial parts of the two studied cultivars were evaluated using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) assays. In all tests, methanolic extracts of different olive parts showed higher antioxidant activity. These results can be used to discriminate and to characterize the ‘chetoui’ and ‘chemchali’ aerial parts. 相似文献

The extraction conditions of polysaccharides from Plantago asiatica L. seeds were investigated. Four parameters affecting the polysaccharides extraction, extraction times, water to sample, extraction temperature and single extraction time, were determined by orthogonal experiments. Under the optimized conditions, the polysaccharides yield of P. asiatica L. seeds was 2.467%. The antioxidant activities of the polysaccharides were investigated. The reducing power of the polysaccharides was dose dependent, and the reducing capacity of the polysaccharides was inferior to butylated hydroxytoluene, which is known to be a strong reducing agent. The scavenging rates of the polysaccharides on superoxide and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radicals were79.7% and 81.4%, at polysaccharides concentration of 0.75 mg/mL, respectively, a scavenging rates approximately similar to that of 0.75 mg/mL ascorbic acid (83.5% and 85.1%, respectively). Furthermore, it exhibited a moderate concentration-dependent ABTS radical scavenging activity, ferrous ion chelating potency and H2O2 scavenging activity. The data obtained in the in vitro models clearly establish the antioxidant potency of the polysaccharides extracted from Semen Plantaginis. 相似文献

The effects of high temperature on antioxidant enzymes were investigatedin three mulberry (Morus alba L.) cultivars (cv. K-2, MR-2and BC2-59). High temperature was imposed by maintaining the plants at 40°Cfor 120, 240 and 360 min in an environmentalplant growth chamber.The activities of superoxide disumutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), guaiacolperoxidase (POD), ascorbate peroxidase (APX) and glutathione reductase (GR)wereassayed in the leaf extracts of control and high temperature-treated plants.Antioxidant enzyme activities were high in all the mulberry cultivars inresponse to high temperature treatment. However, cv. BC2-59 showedsignificantlyhigher activities of all the five antioxidant enzymes in response to hightemperature compared to those from the leaves of K-2, and MR-2 mulberrycultivars. The present study suggested that the cv. BC2-59 has an efficientantioxidant system among the three cultivars, which could prevent the oxidativedamage in the leaves caused by high temperature stress. 相似文献

为探究黑苦荞的市场利用价值,该研究选择种植于湖北江汉平原低海拔地区的川荞1号和九江苦荞作为材料,分析苦荞籽粒中游离酚、结合酚、总酚、游离黄酮、结合黄酮和总黄酮的含量,利用DPPH自由基法、ABTS自由基法和铁离子还原抗氧化法(FRAP)三种抗氧化测试模型综合评价其体外抗氧化活性,并运用高效液相色谱(HPLC)技术对其酚类物质的组成进行鉴定。结果表明:(1)川荞1号籽粒的总酚和总黄酮含量显著高于九江苦荞,分别为27.38 mg GAE·g-1DW、31.46 mg RE·g-1DW和12.71 mg GAE·g-1DW、14.68 mg RE·g-1DW;其中游离酚与游离黄酮含量显著高于结合酚与结合黄酮含量,均占总酚和总黄酮含量的79%以上,且九江苦荞中结合酚和结合黄酮的含量高于川荞1号。(2)苦荞籽粒中酚类物质主要由芦丁、槲皮素、表儿茶素、山奈酚、山奈酚-3-芸香糖苷和槲皮素-3-O-芸香糖苷-3’-O-吡喃葡萄糖苷等黄酮类化合物组成,其中游离酚以芦丁和槲皮素为主,结合酚以表儿茶素和芦丁为主。(3)... 相似文献

为了探究两种不同成熟度老鹰茶中酚类化合物含量及抗氧化活性的差异,以对其进行辨识及质量评价,该研究利用液相色谱-串联质谱(LC-MS/MS)法测定老鹰茶中15种酚类化合物,采用DPPH自由基清除率、ABTS+自由基清除率、Fe3+还原能力评价两种茶叶抗氧化能力,再通过数据统计分析探讨两种老鹰茶酚类化合物含量及抗氧化活性的差异,并进一步探索老鹰茶中不同酚类化合物对于抗氧化的贡献。结果表明:(1)嫩叶茶中儿茶素、对香豆酸、异槲皮苷、金丝桃苷、烟花苷、紫云英苷、山奈酚、槲皮素、阿福豆苷含量显著高于老叶茶,其中儿茶素、异槲皮苷、紫云英苷平均含量比老叶茶分别高1 039.43、169.12、257.35 mg·100 g-1。聚类分析(HCA)、主成分分析(PCA)、正交偏最小二乘判别分析(OPLS-DA)均可将二者区分。(2)方差分析(ANOVA)结果显示在抗氧化能力上,二者在DPPH自由基清除率、ABTS+自由基清除率、Fe3+还原能力之间具有显著性差异,嫩叶茶优于老叶茶。(3)偏最小二乘回归分析(PLSR)法提示老鹰茶中的异槲皮苷、儿茶素、紫云英苷、绿原酸、金丝桃苷、对香豆酸、山奈酚是其发挥抗氧化效能的主要酚类化合物。该研究结果可为老鹰茶的质量控制及应用推广提供一定的参考。 相似文献
