Due to the recent environmental concerns, increasing amounts of research have been diverted to investigating natural products for the control of nematodes. dl-β-Amino butyric acid (BABA) could play a part in limiting nematode damage to plants. In this study, different concentrations of BABA were used as soil drench and seed treatment to determine if they can control Meloidogyne javanica on tomato. In an in vitro test, BABA did not impair mobility of second-stage juveniles of the nematode but 10 and 25 mg/l concentrations reduced hatch. Both of the application methods tested (drenching soil and/or pre-treating seeds with 25 mg/l of BABA) for the treatment of nematode infested tomato plants reduced the numbers of galls and egg masses by 82 %; nematode reproduction rates on these plants were reduced to one and, compared with untreated control plants, final nematode density was decreased by nearly 87 %. Increasing BABA concentrations of the treatment solutions to 200 and 500 mg/l resulted in further reduction in nematode damage and reproduction on treated plants, although the differences between the concentrations were not significant. Compared with untreated tomato, gall and egg mass production were decreased by an average of 92 %, and reproduction rates were held below one by both the 200- and 500-mg/l BABA rates. When seeds pretreated with 25 mg/l were also soil drenched with three BABA concentrations, the effects were slightly greater than when each method was used alone. Effects of two different concentrations of arsenic (8.88 mg/l and 17.76 mg/l i.e., 25 and 50% of LC50 value) respectively and chromium (15.45 mg/l and 30.90 mg/l i.e., 25 and 50% of LC50 value respectively) were evaluated on digestive enzymes of Anabas testudineus for a period of 30 days under laboratory condition. Here As1 and As2, and Cr1 and Cr2 were referred to indicate the 25 and 50% of LC50 value of arsenic and chromium respectively. The result of different enzymes in different tissues was as follows: amylase and lipase activities showed highest in stomach, i.e., 466.81 and 283.33% respectively at 50% concentration of chromium; but moderate (272.78% at 25% of Cr and 264.65% at 50% of As) followed by lowest 219.07% at 25% As concentration. Protease activity at different concentrations of metals was in the order of As2 > As1 > Cr2 > Cr1. Protease activity showed highest in As2 or 50% concentration of As (397.92%) and lowest in 25% of Cr (316.39%). Lipase activity showed highest increment in intestine under As2 (409.23%) and lowest activity in Cr1 (137.84%). In intestine, the protease activity increased at As1 (288.99%) and the highest at As2 i.e., 367.39% compared to other concentrations. The significant changes (p > 0.05) in the enzyme activities in the different tissues like stomach and intestine in regard to different doses were investigated along with regression lines. So, it can be inferred that digestive enzyme activities of A. testudineus may be considered as the potential biomarkers for arsenic and chromium contamination in aquatic systems.  相似文献

The effect of chromium (Cr) on growth as well as root plasma membrane redox reactions and superoxide radical production was studied in pea (Pisum sativum L. cv. Azad) plants exposed for 7 days to 20 and 200 μM Cr (VI), respectively, supplied as potassium dichromate. The growth of pea plants declined significantly at 200 μM Cr, as indicated by reduced leaf area and biomass. Relative to the control plants (no Cr exposure), the Cr content of roots increased significantly, both at 20 and 200 μM Cr. Following exposure to 200 μM Cr, there was a significant increase in root lipid peroxidation and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) content, while both the Fv/Fm ratio and chlorophyll content were reduced. Exposure to Cr increased NADPH-dependent superoxide production in pea root plasma membrane vesicles, with the effect being more significant at 200 μM Cr than at 20 μM Cr. Treatment with Cr rapidly increased the activities of NADPH oxidase: relative to the controls, plants exposed to 20 μM Cr showed approximately a 67% increase in activity while there was a threefold increase in those plants exposed to 200 μM Cr. NADH-ferricyanide oxido-reductase activity was found to be inhibited by 16 and 51% at 20 and 200 μM Cr, respectively. The results of this study suggest that exposure to excess Cr damages pea root plasma membrane structure and function, resulting in decreased photosynthesis and poor plant growth.  相似文献

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of chromium propionate on egg production, egg quality, plasma biochemical parameters and egg chromium deposition in late-phase laying hens. Four hundred thirty-two 60-weeks old laying hens were divided into four groups of 108 birds per group according to egg production. The dietary treatments consisted of the basal diet adding with 0, 200, 400, and 600 μg/kg chromium as chromium propionate. All laying hens were given feed and water ad libitum for 8 weeks. The addition of 400 μg/kg Cr as chromium propionate increased egg production (P?<?0.01) during the later 4 weeks, but decreased albumen height, yolk color score, and Haugh unit of eggs. Six hundred micrograms per kilogram Cr as chromium propionate supplementation improved shell thickness (P?<?0.05). 200 μg/kg Cr as chromium propionate supplementation decreased the uric acid concentration by 31 % (P?<?0.05). However, supplemental Cr did not affect the egg chromium deposition of hens (P?>?0.05). These data indicated that feeding of late-phase laying hens with chromium propionate could improve egg production, increase eggshell thickness, but do not result in abnormal levels of chromium deposition in eggs.  相似文献

Accumulation of Cr(VI) in rice seeds cultivated in Cr-contaminated soil of the Sundarbans (India) is an environmental problem. Cr(VI) concentration in this soil was 6.2 ± 0.3 mg/kg, whereas total chromium was 32.04 ± 1.60 mg/kg. A Cr(VI)-removing bacterium isolated from Cr-contaminated paddy field soil of Sundarbans was identified as Staphylococcus sciuri. Enrichment culture of S. sciuri was applied to pot cultivation of rice in Cr-contaminated soil. After 8 weeks, 71 ± 3% Cr(VI) (final concentration 2.15 ± 0.01 mg/kg) and 65 ± 2% total Cr removal (end concentration 11.3 ± 0.5 mg/kg) were attained in bacterium-treated soils. Growth parameters indicated healthy development of plants cultivated in bacterium-treated soils that was not observed in control plants. Total Cr removal attained in rice seeds of plants cultivated in bacterium-treated soils compared with control rice seeds was 78 ± 4%. Total Cr concentration in test seeds was 0.72 ± 0.05 mg/kg (World Health Organization [WHO] permissible limit: 1.30 mg/kg), whereas the same in control seeds was 3.27 ± 0.16 mg/kg. Cr(VI) reduction achieved in rice seeds cultivated in bacterium-treated soil compared with control rice seeds was 95 ± 5%. Cr(VI) concentration in rice seeds cultivated in treated soil was 0.050 ± 0.003 mg/kg, whereas the same in untreated control was 0.93 ± 0.05 mg/kg. Successful paddy field soil bioremediation by any Staphylococcus species was demonstrated for the first time.  相似文献

The aim of the study was the analysis of Cr distribution in shoots of the macrophyte Callitriche cophocarpa by means of two X-ray-based techniques: micro X-ray fluorescence (μXRF) and electron probe X-ray microanalysis (EPXMA). Plants were treated with 100 μM (5.2 mg l?1) chromium solutions for 7 days. Cr was introduced independently at two speciations as Cr(III) and Cr(VI), known for their diverse physicochemical properties and different influence on living organisms. A comparative analysis of Cr(III)-treated plants by EPXMA and μXRF demonstrated high deposition of Cr in epidermal glands/hairs localized on leaves and stems of the plant shoots. Cr in Cr(III)-treated plants was recorded solely in glands/hairs, and the element was not present in any other structures. On the other hand, Cr in Cr(VI)-treated group of plants was rather found in vascular bundles. Moreover, the concentration of Cr in Cr(VI)-treated plants was significantly lower than in plants incubated in Cr(III) solution. The results obtained in this work suggest differences in chromium uptake, transport and accumulation dependent on the oxidative state of the element.  相似文献

A 3?×?2 factorial experiment consisting three levels (0, 200, and 400 μg/kg) of chromium (chromium picolinate) and two levels (0 and 250 mg/kg) of vitamin C was employed to evaluate the effects of these dietary supplements on performance, egg quality traits, and serum biochemical parameters of heat-stressed laying hens (Lohmann LSL-Lite) from 66 to 74 weeks of age. Feed intake increased when birds were given either 400 μg/kg chromium or 250 mg/kg vitamin C (P?<?0.05), but the birds that received both chromium and vitamin C consumed feed similar to those that received only chromium. Dietary treatments had no effect on egg production, egg mass, egg volume, feed conversion ratio, and body mass (P?>?0.05). The birds that fed on diet with chromium or vitamin C produced eggs with higher shell mass and thickness compared to the control. Both eggshell mass and thickness decreased when vitamin C and chromium were supplemented simultaneously, and birds given the diet supplemented with 400 μg/kg chromium and 250 mg/kg vitamin C had eggshell mass and thickness similar to those of the control group. The serum concentration of chromium increased due to increasing level of dietary chromium (P?<?0.05). The birds that received diet with chromium and vitamin C had higher serum concentrations of chromium compared to those that received only chromium (P?<?0.05). Similarly, the hens that received chromium and vitamin C had higher serum concentrations of calcium and phosphorus compared to the hens fed with other treatments (P?<?0.05). The birds given with supplemental chromium exhibited lower serum glucose, total cholesterol, and triglycerides concentrations but higher serum albumin and total protein concentrations compared to the other groups (P?<?0.05).  相似文献

Two native bacterial strains, FY1 and WZ2, that showed high chromium(VI)-reducing ability were respectively isolated from electroplating and tannery effluent–contaminated sites and identified as Bacillus and Arthrobacter. The objective of the present study was to evaluate their potential for future application in soil bioremediation. The results showed that both Bacillus sp. FY1 and Arthrobacter sp. WZ2 were tolerant to 1000 mg L?1 Cr(VI) and capable of reducing 78–85% and 75–82% of Cr(VI) (100–200 mg L?1) within 24 h, respectively. The Cr(VI) reduction rate decreased with increasing levels of Cr(VI) concentration (200–1000 mg L?1). The optimum pH, temperature, and inoculum concentration for Cr(VI) reduction were found to be between pH 7.0 and 8.0; 30 and 35°C; and 1 × 108 cells ml?1, respectively. Further evidence for the bioremediation potential of Bacillus sp. FY1 and Arthrobacter sp. WZ2 was provided by the high capacity to reduce 100, 200, and 500 mg kg?1 Cr(VI) in contaminated soil by 83–91%, 78–85%, and 71–78% within 7 days, respectively. These findings demonstrated the high potential of Bacillus sp. FY1 and Arthrobacter sp. WZ2 for application in future soil bioremediation.  相似文献

The present study investigates the possible role of exogenous nitric oxide (NO) supplementation as sodium nitroprusside (SNP), on increasing phytoextraction and phytoremediation ability of arsenic hyperaccumulator, Isatis cappadocica. Arsenate (500, 1000 and 1500 µM) alone or in combination with 200 µM SNP was given to hydroponically grown plants for 14 days. The highest level of arsenate (1500 µM) reduced the plant growth and chlorophyll content, while SNP alleviated these inhibitory effects. The application of SNP significantly increased the As concentration in the root (from 1004 to 1943 mg/kg) and shoots (from 1304 to 1859 mg/kg) compared with As-stressed plants. However, SNP treatment did not affect translocation factor value significantly in the As-stressed plants which shows enhancement of both As uptake and translocation under SNP application. This is the first study demonstrating the favorable effects of SNP on As tolerance, uptake, and accumulation of highly valuable As hyperaccumulator, I. cappadocica.  相似文献

Phytoextraction is a green technique for the removal of soil contaminants by plants uptake with the subsequent elimination of the generated biomass. The halophytic plant Suaeda vera Forssk. ex J.F.Gmel. is an native Mediterranean species able to tolerate and accumulate salts and heavy metals in their tissues. The objective of this study was to explore the potential use of S. vera for soil metal phytoextraction and to assess the impact of different chelating agents such as natural organic acids (oxalic acid [OA], citric acid [CA]), amino acids (AA) and Pseudomonas fluorescens bacteria (PFB) on the metal uptake and translocation. After 12 months, the highest accumulation of Cu was observed in the root/stem of PFB plots (17.62/8.19 mg/kg), in the root/stem of CA plots for Zn (31.16/23.52 mg/kg) and in the root of OA plots for Cr (10.53 mg/kg). The highest accumulation of metals occurred in the roots (27.33–50.76 mg/kg). Zn was the metal that accumulated at the highest rates in most cases. The phytoextraction percentages were higher for Cu and Zn (~2%) with respect to Cr (~1%). The percentages of metal removal from soil indicate the need to monitor soil properties, to recognize the influence of each treatment and to increase the concentration of bioavailable metals by the use of agricultural management practices aimed at promoting plant growth.  相似文献

This study evaluated the effects of diets with fiber (cellulose and/or pectin) supplemented with chromium(III) on homeostasis of selected minerals in femurs, thigh muscles, livers, and kidneys of rats. For 6 weeks, male rats were fed experimental diets: a fiber-free diet (FF), a diet containing 5 % cellulose (CEL), 5 % pectin (PEC), or 2.5 % cellulose and 2.5 % pectin (CEL?+?PEC). These diets had 2.53 or 0.164 mg Cr/kg diet. The tissue levels of Ca, Mg, Zn, Fe, and Cr were determined by using atomic absorption spectrometry. Supplementing diets with Cr resulted in significantly higher Cr levels in the femurs of rats fed the CEL diet and significantly higher Cr and Fe levels in the rats fed the CEL?+?PEC diet compared to the rats fed FF diet. Muscle Ca content was significantly lower in the rats fed the CEL?+?PEC?+?Cr diet compared to the rats fed FF?+?Cr diet. The rats consuming the PEC?+?Cr diet had the highest liver Cr content. The highest kidney Zn content was observed in the rats fed diets containing Cr and one type of fiber. These results indicate that diets containing chromium at elevated dose and fiber have a significant effect on the mineral balance in rat tissues.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of supplemental chromium (Cr) in the form of chromium picolinate (CrPic) on swine growth performance, meat quality, and protein deposition in skeletal muscle. Forty-eight piglets were divided into three groups randomly, fed with three different dietary levels of Cr (common basal feedstuff supplemented with a dose of 1.61 μg/g or 3.22 μg/g CrPic, which corresponded to 0.2 and 0.4 μg/g Cr). Results indicated that during the growing period (1–35 days), pigs fed with the diet supplemented with CrPic showed no improvement in body mass, average daily gain (ADG), feed consumption, or feed conversion rate (FCR) (P?>?0.05). During the finishing period, a supplementary dose of 0.2 μg Cr/g improved daily weight gain significantly (P?<?0.05), while the situation had no significance with 0.4 μg Cr/g (P?>?0.05) supplemented. For the entire growing-finishing period, body mass increased by 3.86%, ADG rose by 6.08%, and the FCR decreased by 3.30%; levels of total muscular pigment and that in the ribeye areas significantly improved (P?<?0.05) when supplementation with 0.2 μg Cr/g (P?<?0.05) was employed. However, there were no significant changes when supplemented with 0.4 μg Cr/g. While there were no changes in yield of carcass, back fat, water holding capacity, or levels of muscular crude protein and fat (P?>?0.05) in treatment, the ratio of fat-lean and RNA/DNA increased significantly supplemented with 0.2 μg Cr/g (P?<?0.05), but there were no significance with 0.4 μg Cr/g supplementation. In addition, the muscular levels of cholesterol had slightly decreased and the content of DNA in skeletal muscle showed no marked changes with 0.2 or 0.4 μg/g Cr supplementation. In conclusion, the present results suggested that dietary Cr supplementation in the dose of 0.2 μg/g could promote the growth performance, carcass characteristics, and protein deposition.  相似文献

A chromium-reducing strain QH-1, identified as Bacillus sp., was isolated from soil under chromium-containing slag heap in Qinghai high altitude area, China. The strain was found to resist 200 mg/L Cr(VI), and Cr(VI) negatively affects the metabolic activity of the cells, as well as the cell morphology of Bacillus sp. QH-1. The reduction efficiency of Cr(VI) at concentrations of Cr(VI) 25 mg/L, 50 mg/L, 100 mg/L and 200 mg/L were 99.48 %, 65.99 %, 23.22 % and 6.99 %, respectively, decreasing with increasing initial Cr(VI) concentration. This indicates that the toxicity of Cr(VI) increased with concentration. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis revealed that there was insoluble Cr(III) generated during Cr(VI) reduction. In order to apply strain QH-1 to remove Cr(VI) from groundwater, factors of concentration of electron donors (glucose) and temperature were investigated in a synthetic medium. The results demonstrated that glucose could promote the reduction of Cr(VI) by this strain, and the general trend of Cr(VI) reduction increased with temperature within the range of 4 to 37 °C. Cr(VI) was reduced effectively at 25 °C and 37 °C, and all of Cr(VI) was reduced after 96 h at 37 °C, while the reduction was slow at 4 °C and 15 °C, and it almost ceased after about 120 h. These results could be potentially useful for the bioremediation of Cr(VI) in groundwater.  相似文献

In this study, the effect of spraying mother plants with various levels of putrescine, spermidine, and cycocel (each at 0, 50, 500, and 5000 mg/l) were assessed on the frequency of haploid embryos produced from unfertilized ovaries and subsequent regeneration of derived embryos. Significantly higher haploid embryos were obtained when mother plants were sprayed with putrescine at 500 mg/l (5.2 embryos/fruit), spermidine at 50 mg/l (4.8 embryos/fruit), and cycocel at 50 mg/l (5.2 embryos/fruit) as compared to the control (without spraying, 3.2 embryos/fruit). However, embryogenesis induction was decreased drastically as the concentration of all the three compounds tested was increased and the lowest haploid embryos were observed when 5000 mg/l of spermidine (0.4 embryos/fruit) or cycocel (2.0 embryos/fruit) were applied. Only spermidine at 50 mg/l led to 100% regeneration into fully developed plantlets. The seed setting and size of fruits were also affected by polyamines and cycocel applications. Ploidy analysis using a flow cytometer indicated that all regenerated plantlets contain the gametic chromosome number (n?=?x?=?7) of parental plants and the results of chromosome counting also confirmed the haploid nature of regenerated plantlets. It can be concluded that the induction of haploid embryogenesis from unfertilized ovaries after pollination with irradiated pollen and subsequent conversion of derived embryos into the plantlets could be improved in Cucumis sativus L. by applying appropriate levels of putrescine, spermidine, and cycocel.  相似文献

Hevea brasiliensis is a mycotrophic tree for which root colonization by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) under in vitro or pot culture conditions can take several weeks. The reason for this slow colonization is still unknown, but the exudation of antifungal compounds such as hevein by the roots may be one of the causes. Here, the root colonization of Medicago truncatula, a highly mycotrophic plant, was assessed after 12 days of growth in the extraradical mycelium network of the AMF Rhizophagus irregularis in close vicinity of H. brasiliensis plantlets or Urtica dioica seedlings (also known to synthesize antifungal compounds of the hevein family). We hypothesized that a negative impact on the root colonization of a M. truncatula seedling developing close to H. brasiliensis and U. dioica may give indirect proofs for the exudation of inhibitory molecules. The percentages of total root colonization of M. truncatula were 30.1 % lower in the presence of H. brasiliensis than in the control plants, and 29.1 % lower in presence of U. dioica. The abundance of arbuscules in the roots of M. truncatula was also lower in plants grown in presence of H. brasiliensis plantlets than in the control plants. Similarly, the succinate dehydrogenase and the phosphatase activities measured in the extraradical mycelium of R. irregularis were significantly lower in the presence of both plants, compared with the controls. No root colonization was observed in H. brasiliensis and U. dioica within the time-frame of the experiments. The low root colonization of M. truncatula when grown in the presence of rubber or stinging nettle suggested the exudation of diffusible molecules which could also explain the delayed root colonization of H. brasiliensis and the absence of colonization of U. dioica.  相似文献

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of chromium methionine with/without zinc sulfate or zinc amino acid complex on the growth performance, carcass traits, meat quality, serum parameters, endocrine parameters, and antioxidant status of growing-finishing pigs. A total of 180 (32.0 ± 1.7 kg body weight, BW) crossbred pigs (Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire) were used in a completely randomized design with three dietary treatments and 10 replicates per treatment (five pens of barrows and five pens of gilts with six pigs per replicate). Three treatments were corn-soybean meal-based diets supplemented with 100 mg Zn/kg from zinc sulfate (ZnSO4), 100 mg Zn/kg from ZnSO4 + 0.2 mg Cr/kg from chromium methionine complex (CrMet), or 50 mg Zn/kg from ZnSO4 + 50 mg Zn/kg from zinc amino acid complex (ZnAA) + 0.2 mg Cr/kg from CrMet, respectively. The experiment lasted 105 days, of which was divided into three stages including phase 1 (30 to 50 kg BW), phase 2 (50 to 80 kg BW), and phase 3 (80 to 110 kg BW). Results showed that supplementation with CrMet and ZnAA improved (P < 0.05) the feed conversion of the pigs in phase 2, phase 3, and the overall experiment. Hot carcass weight, dressing percentage, and a longissimus dorsi muscle area were increased (P < 0.05) in pigs fed with diets supplemented with both CrMet and ZnAA compared with pigs fed with diets containing only ZnSO4 (P < 0.05). There was also an increase (P < 0.01) pH24 h in the longissimus dorsi muscle in pigs fed with diets supplemented with CrMet and ZnAA. The concentration of serum glucose in pigs fed with diets containing CrMet and ZnAA was decreased (P < 0.05) compared with that in pigs fed with the diet containing ZnSO4. Supplementation with CrMet and ZnAA increased (P < 0.05) the circulating levels of insulin and decreased (P < 0.05) cortisol. There was an increase (P < 0.05) in total serum antioxidant capacity and Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase activity as well as a decrease (P < 0.05) in serum malondialdehyde concentrations in pigs fed with diets supplemented with CrMet and ZnAA compared with pigs fed with the diet supplemented only with ZnSO4. In conclusion, supplementation of CrMet only or CrMet together with ZnAA improved feed conversion, carcass traits, and meat quality in the growing-finishing pigs.  相似文献

An efficient protocol for a complete plant regeneration by somatic embryogenesis was developed with Smooth Cayenne pineapple (Ananas comosus L.). Previous works showed that this species is responsive to somatic embryogenesis. In the present work the influence of components of culture medium in the induction, development and conversion of somatic embryos was investigate in order to establish a somatic embryogenesis protocol. Nodular callus (83.67%) was initiated from leaf explants of young plants on CIM3 medium. The highest frequency (37.6%) of embryogenic callus induction was obtained from 4-week-old calluses on EIM3 medium supplemented with 3.0 mg/l picloram. The highly organized callus induction and the development of somatic embryos were achieved after the transfer of callus clumps onto EIM3 medium containing 1.0 mg/l BAP + 0.1 mg/l NAA. The frequency of somatic embryo formation was of 39.5?±?2.45 embryos per callus. Up to 97% of the somatic embryos were converted into complete plants within 4 week on MSB medium with 1.0 mg/l BAP + 0.05 mg/l GA3 + 500 mg/l glutamine. The continuation of the elongation of the shoots occurred on this medium). Shoots obtained from all the above methods were rooted in MSB medium with activated charcoal. Complete plantlets were transferred onto specially made polyethylene bags containing soil mixture and transferred to the greenhouse. Survival rate of the plantlets under ex vitro conditions was 98% and maximum average number of plantlets (80?±?0.6). The well-developed plantlets were transferred to an open field where the plants produced normal fruits.  相似文献

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is known to impair many physiological functions. Some reports claim that medicinal plants can reduce these alterations caused by DM. The aim of this study was to investigate the therapeutic potential of aqueous-methanol extracts of Urtica dioica, Thymus vulgaris (TV), Myrtus communis (MC), Scolymus hispanicus (SH) and Cinnamomun zeylanicum (CZ) on streptozotocin (STZ)-induced type 1 DM in rats. Diabetes was induced via a single i.p. injection of STZ (65 mg/kg body weight). After 1 week to allow for development of diabetes, each plant extract was administered to diabetic rats separately at a dose of 100 mg/kg body weight daily for 28 days. The results showed that only SH extract significantly (P < 0.05) amended fasting blood glucose level. The lipid profile was ameliorated especially by supplementations of TV, MC and CZ extracts. Almost all plant extract treatments markedly (P < 0.05) increased reduced glutathione content and decreased lipid peroxidation levels of erythrocyte, plasma, retina and lens tissues. They also significantly (P < 0.05) amended erythrocyte catalase activity, levels of marker serum enzymes (except amylase), urea and blood urea nitrogen when compared to diabetic rats treated with nothing. Furthermore, none of the plant extracts counteracted body weight loss of diabetic rats. Our data revealed that the aforementioned plant extracts have remarkable potential to counteract DM-caused alterations, probably through their antioxidant and free radical-defusing effects.  相似文献

The use of plant growth regulators is well established and they are used in many fields of plant science for enhancing growth. Brassica juncea plants were treated with 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 μM auxin indole-3-butyric acid (IBA), which promotes rooting. The IBA-treated plants were also sprayed with 100 μM gibberellic acid (GA3) and kinetin (Kin) to increase leaf-foliage. Gold (I) chloride (AuCl) was added to the growth medium of plants to achieve required gold concentration. The solubilizing agent ammonium thiocyanate (1 g kg?1) (commonly used in mining industries to solubilize gold) was added to the nutrient solution after six weeks of growth and, two weeks later, plants were harvested. Plant growth regulators improved shoot and root dry biomass of B. juncea plants. Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry analysis showed the highest Au uptake for plants treated with 5.0 μM IBA. The average recovery of Au with this treatment was significantly greater than the control treatment by 45.8 mg kg?1 (155.7%). The other IBA concentrations (2.5 and 7.5 μM) also showed a significant increase in Au uptake compared to the control plants by 14.7 mg kg?1 (50%) and 42.5 mg kg?1 (144.5%) respectively. A similar trend of Au accumulation was recorded in the roots of B. juncea plants. This study conducted in solution culture suggests that plant growth regulators can play a significant role in improving phytoextraction of Au.  相似文献
