c-erbB-2/neu protein expression, DNA ploidy and S phase in breast cancer   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Abstract. DNA content and c-erbB2/neu protein (p185) expression were evaluated by flow-cytometry and ELISA, respectively, in 166 specimens of primary breast cancer. A non-diploid DNA content was found in 88 tumours (53%), with the DNA index ranging from 0.7-2.7. S phase fraction (SPF) evaluation, performed in 130 cases, showed significantly higher values in aneuploid than in diploid tumours (median values, 17.3% and 5.8%, respectively). Thirty-six tumours (21.6%) showed p185 overexpression, while 45 (27.1%) and 85 (51.3%) showed intermediate and low expression, respectively. A good correlation ( P =0.0023) was found between DNA content and p185 positivity. Tumours with high p185 values were mainly aneuploid, while tumours with intermediate or low expression had variable degrees of DNA content. Furthermore, p185 concentration was significantly higher in aneuploid than in diploid tumours ( P =0.009). The highest rate of p185 (+) cases and the highest p185 concentrations occurred in triploid (1.3相似文献

The aggressive biological behavior of invasive and metastatic cancer is considered to be the most insidious and life-threatening aspect for breast cancer patients. It is mostly the result of changes in many molecular characteristics of tumor cells, including alterations in gene expression and the balance of proteolytic activity. The objective of this study was to determine the level of MMP-2, its natural inhibitor TIMP-2, their ratio and HER-2/neu as diagnostic and prognostic factors. Markers were analyzed in 240 tissue samples categorized into 96 benign breast disease and 144 breast cancer patients. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay procedure was used to evaluate the level of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in the cell lysate, HER-2/neu in the membrane fraction, and steroid hormone receptors (ER and PgR) in the cytosol fraction. Breast cancer patients were followed-up for three years. Receiver operating characteristic curves were used to determine the cutoff points for the investigated factors. Positive values for all investigated factors were significantly increased in breast cancer patients compared to benign ones. Mean levels for all investigated factors were significantly correlated with lymph node and hormone receptor status, while MMP-2 and TIMP-2 were correlated with tumor grade (P < 0.05). In Univariate analysis, positive MMP-2, MMP-2/TIMP-2, HER-2/neu overexpression, higher tumor grade, late clinical stages and positive lymph nodes status were significantly associated with relapse. By multivariate analysis, all aforementioned factors apart from tumor grade were independent variables. Thus, the investigated markers are constructive for biologic aggressiveness of breast cancer and MMP-2/TIMP-2 ratio might be a new significant marker in early diagnosis and estimate prognosis in breast cancer.  相似文献

Amplification of the Her-2/neu gene is accompanied by overexpression of its cell surface receptor product, c-erbB-2 protein. To investigate the degree of intratumoural heterogeneity we applied immunohistochemistry in primary Barrett's adenocarcinoma (BCA) (n = 6) and dysplasia adjacent to the carcinoma (n = 4). In addition, fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) was performed in primary BCA (n = 5) and dysplastic areas (n = 4). For an objective evaluation digital image analysis and laser scanning microscopy were used. Five of six BCA showed a marked intratumoral heterogeneous staining pattern ranging from areas in which the tumour cells were negative or faintly positive to tumour areas with a strong staining of the entire membrane. Among the two dysplastic areas also a heterogeneous staining pattern was observed. FISH analysis revealed marked heterogeneity of intratumoral gene copy number changes in all BCA showing populations with different fractions of cells with polysomy, low level amplification and high level amplification. One dysplasia showed a minor population with Her-2/neu signal clusters. In conclusion, we observed marked intratumoural heterogeneity of c-erbB-2 protein overexpression and Her-2/neu gene copy number in the majority of the primary BCA analyzed. Digital image analysis and laser scanning microscopy were helpful in quantifying the variations in protein expression and DNA copy number in individual tumour cells. The observed heterogeneity could hamper the exact diagnostic determination of the c-erbB-2 status in small biopsies and possibly influence the effectiveness of a potential c-erbB-2 targeting therapy. HER-2/neu oncoprotein overexpression was compared in fresh frozen and paraffin-embedded formalin-fixed invasive breast cancer material from the same patients. The HER-2/neu protein was detected by an immunohistochemical staining method, and the average amount of protein staining per cell was measured using the CAS-200 image analysis system and expressed relative to the amount of HER-2/neu protein of calibration cells of the SKBR3 cell line which are known to have amplification of the HER-2/neu gene and overexpression of the HER-2/neu protein. There was a significant correlation between degree of HER-2/neu protein overexpression and DNA-hyperdiploidy (P less than 0.01, chi 2 test). No significant correlation could be demonstrated between degree of HER-2/neu overexpression and tumor size, lymph node status, number of positive nodes or morphometric features. There was in general a good concordance (r = 0.83) in HER-2/neu expression values between fresh and paraffin-embedded material. Pairwise comparison of the two series (Wilcoxon signed ranks test) revealed no significant differences, indicating that there were no systematic differences between HER-2/neu assessments in fresh and paraffin material. When analysing the HER-2/neu expression values according to thresholds used earlier for overexpression, comparable results for fresh and paraffin material were obtained for most cases. In the fresh and paraffin material a different staining pattern was observed (more membrane staining in the fresh material in contrast to a more diffuse staining pattern in the paraffin material). It was concluded that both fresh-frozen and paraffin-embedded, formalin-fixed material is suitable for assessment of HER-2/neu protein overexpression by image analysis and provides comparable HER-2/neu expression values in most cases.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Amplification and resulting overexpression of the HER-2/ neu proto-oncogene is found in approximately 30% of human breast and 20% of human ovarian cancers. To better understand the molecular events associated with overexpression of this gene in human breast cancer cells, differential hybridization was used to identify genes whose expression levels are altered in cells overexpressing this receptor. Of 16 000 clones screened from an overexpression cell cDNA library, a total of 19 non-redundant clones were isolated including seven whose expression decreases (C clones) and 12 which increase (H clones) in association with HER-2/ neu overexpression. Of these, five C clones and 11 H clones have been confirmed to be differentially expressed by northern blot analysis. This group includes nine genes of known function, three previously sequenced genes of relatively uncharacterized function and four novel genes without a match in GenBank. Examination of the previously characterized genes indicates that they represent sequences known to be frequently associated with the malignant phenotype, suggesting that the subtraction cloning strategy used identified appropriate target genes. In addition, differential expression of 12 of 16 (75%) cDNAs identified in the breast cancer cell lines are also seen in HER-2/ neu -overexpressing ovarian cancer cells, indicating that they represent generic associations with HER-2/ neu overexpression. Finally, up-regulation of two of the identified cDNAs, one novel and one identified but as yet uncharacterized gene, was confirmed in human breast cancer specimens in association with HER-2/ neu overexpression. Further characterization of these genes may yield insight into the fundamental biology and pathogenetic effects of HER-2/ neu overexpression in human breast and ovarian cancer cells.  相似文献

The neu/c-erbB-2 oncogene encodes a 185 kDa protein closely homologous to the epidermal growth factor receptor. The protein product (p185) is a glycoprotein with an external domain and an internal domain with tyrosine kinase activity. Amplification and/or overexpression of p185 is related to several human adenocarcinomas. Subsequent studies demonstrated its presence in certain neuroendocrine (NE) neoplasms, including phaeochromocytomas, insulinomas and medullary thyroid carcinomas. However, relatively little is known about its role in normal cell growth regulation and development. Therefore, our objective was to determine whether neu/c-erbB-2 was expressed in normal NE tissues of different mammals, specially in humans, as it was in their neoplasms. We have examined by immunohistochemistry different endocrine glands (thyroid, pancreas, suprarrenal and hypophysis) and the small intestine of human beings, rats and guinea pigs, using two polyclonal antibodies raised against the intracytoplasmic part of the protein, and specific antigen absorption controls. We have found that a neu/c-erbB-2-like product occurs in all normal NE tissues examined: C cells of the thyroid gland, chromaffin cells of the adrenal medulla, pancreatic islets, enteroendocrine cells of the small intestine and, finally, scattered cells of the adenohypophysis, according to a typical granular immunohistochemical pattern. Our results indicate that normal NE cells share a new common antigen in their cytoplasms, a neu/c-erbB-2-like product, with a similar immunostaining pattern to that presented by the neoplasms derived from them.  相似文献

c-erbB-2 expression in primary breast cancer.   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6
c-erbB-2 is an oncoprotein which is overexpressed in up to 40% of primary breast cancers. c-erbB-2 overexpression is a bad prognostic factor in patients with lymph node-positive disease. Unfortunately, there has been no agreement to date on whether c-erbB-2 overexpression is of prognostic significance in patients with lymph node-negative disease. c-erbB-2 overexpression is correlated with the absence of estrogen receptor expression in a number of publications. Correlation between c-erbB-2 overexpression and hormone sensitivity in the clinical setting is less well established and is the focus of ongoing studies. Both preclinical and clinical studies support an association between c-erbB-2 receptor overexpression and resistance to alkylating agents. In contrast, the data for c-erbB-2 and anthracyclines should be viewed in a slightly different manner. Anthracyclines appear to have a greater therapeutic effect in c-erbB-2-positive disease which may be dose sensitive. In c-erbB-2-negative disease not only is the therapeutic effect reduced but there does not appear to be any improved response to higher doses of anthracyclines. The data for c-erbB-2 and the taxanes is still not clear enough to provide any definite conclusions. If there is a correlation it would at present appear to be between paclitaxel and response rates, but this needs to be confirmed in larger studies. Few studies have looked at changes in c-erbB-2 on therapy. Those that have seem to show no significant change on either tamoxifen or chemotherapy.  相似文献

The HER-2/neu oncogene, a member of the epidermal growth factor receptor or erb gene family, encodes a transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor that has been linked to prognosis and response to therapy with the anti-HER-2-humanized monoclonal antibody, trastuzumab (Herceptin, Genentech, South San Francisco, CA) in patients with advanced metastatic breast cancer. HER-2/neu status has also been tested for its ability to predict the response of breast cancer to other therapies including hormonal therapies, topoisomerase inhibitors, and anthracyclines. This review includes an analysis of 80 published studies encompassing more than 25,000 patients designed to consider the relative advantages and disadvantages of the various methods of measuring HER-2/neu in clinical breast cancer specimens. Southern blotting, PCR amplification detection, and fluorescence in situ hybridization assays designed to detect HER-2/neu gene amplification are compared with HER-2/neu protein overexpression assays performed by immunohistochemical techniques applied to frozen and paraffin-embedded tissues and enzyme immunoassays performed on tumor cytosols. The significance of HER-2/neu overexpression in ductal carcinoma in situ and the HER-2/neu status in uncommon female breast conditions and male breast cancer are also considered. The role of HER-2/neu testing for the prediction of response to trastuzumab therapy in breast cancer is reviewed along with the current studies designed to test whether HER-2/neu status can predict the response to standard and newer hormonal therapies, cytotoxic chemotherapy, and radiation. The review will also evaluate the status of serum-based testing for circulating HER-2/neu receptor protein and its ability to predict disease outcome and therapy response.  相似文献

A phase I study of escalating doses of humanized bispecific antibody (bsAb) MDX-H210 with granulocyte-colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) was conducted in patients with metastatic breast cancer that overexpressed HER2/neu. The main objectives of the study were to define the maximal tolerated dose (MTD) of MDX-H210 when combined with G-CSF, to measure the pharmacokinetics of MDX-H210 when administered with G-CSF, and to determine the toxicity, biological effects and possible therapeutic effect of MDX-H210 with G-CSF. MDX-H210 is a F(ab)′ × F(ab)′ humanized bispecific murine antibody that binds to both HER2/neu and the FcγR1 receptor (CD64), and was administered intravenously weekly for three doses followed by a 2-week break and then three more weekly doses. A total of 23 patients were treated, and doses were escalated from 1 mg/m2 to 40 mg/m2 with no MTD reached. The toxicity of the bsAb + G-CSF combination was modest, with no dose-limiting toxicity noted: 19 patients had fevers, 7 patients had diarrhea, and 3 patients had allergic reactions that did not limit therapy. The β-elimination half-life varied from 4 h to 8 h at doses up to 20 mg/m2. Significant release of cytokines interleukin-6, G-CSF, and tumor necrosis factor α was observed after administration of bsAb. Circulating monocytes disappeared within 1 h of bsAb infusion, which correlated with binding of bsAb, noted by flow-cytometric analysis. Significant levels of human anti-(bispecific antibody) were measured in the plasma of most patients by the third infusion. No objective clinical responses were seen in this group of heavily pre-treated patients. Received: 23 July 1998 / Accepted: 6 November 1998  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To determine interobserver and intraobserver reproducibility in the assessment of the HercepTest- and TAB250-immunostained slides. STUDY DESIGN: Three independent expert pathologists (two with and one without training in HercepTest assessment) evaluated the HercepTest and TAB250-immunostained slides of 108 infiltrating breast carcinomas with a triple-blind method. The evaluation was repeated, with the same method and sequence of view, after 60 days. RESULTS: Expert pathologists, after adequate training in HercepTest evaluation, could reach excellent interobserver (K=.911, P<.001) and intraobserver reproducibility (K of .863-.926; P <.001 for all). The percentage of disagreement in intraobserver reproducibility ranged from 0.9% to 3.7%. Interobserver and intraobserver reproducibility in the evaluation of TAB250-immunostained slides was good (K = .658, P < .001) and from good to excellent (K of .600-.895, P < .001 for all), respectively. CONCLUSION: Optimization of the level of accuracy in HercepTest evaluation is mandatory because the decision to initiate therapy with Herceptin depends on the result. Moreover, considering that the percentage of disagreement in intraobserver reproducibility ranges from 0.9% to 3.7%, it is advisable that two expert pathologists evaluate all HercepTest slides with a double-blind method. If there are discordant results, they must be discussed by the same pathologists.  相似文献

Evidence that the c-erbB-2 proto-oncogene is important in prognosis and oncogenesis in a number of human malignancies is increasing. DNA (Southern) hybridization and immunoblotting (Western) techniques are most commonly utilized to determine the amplification and protein expression of this proto-oncogene, respectively. These extraction techniques are often time consuming, costly, and subject to variability depending on the histological characteristics of the tumor. Immunohistochemistry (IHC), on the other hand, is more often time and cost effective. In addition, IHC may offer enhanced sensitivity over extraction techniques because of the in situ nature of analysis. In data presented here, 71 cases of human mammary carcinoma were concomitantly assessed for c-erbB-2 gene copy number and oncoprotein expression by dilution DNA hybridization and IHC, respectively. In 65 (92%) of 71 cases, high-level expression was associated with gene amplification, whereas moderate or low-level expression was associated with a normal diploid gene copy number. In five of the six discrepant cases, IHC predicted amplification which was not corroborated by Southern analysis. In these cases, tumor mass was limited by the intraductal component of the lesion or by an abundance of stromal elements within the specimen. In 39 of the 71 total cases, Western immunoblotting was compared with IHC in the assessment of oncoprotein expression. Concordance was found in 33 (85%) of 39 cases. In four of the six discrepant cases, high levels of c-erbB-2 expression were demonstrated by IHC but not by immunoblotting. In these cases, intraductal disease and stroma-rich tumors again led to a relative paucity of neoplastic tissue within the specimens. We conclude that IHC offers a favorable alternative to either Southern analysis or Western immunoblotting in the assessment of c-erbB-2 gene copy number and expression levels of oncoprotein in human mammary carcinoma. Furthermore, IHC may prove advantageous to either extraction technique in specimens with limited tumor mass, such as biopsy materials, stroma-rich tumors, or early stage lesions such as intraductal carcinoma.  相似文献

In breast cancer patients, the expression of steroid hormone receptors (HR:ERalpha/PR) appears inversely correlated with Her2/neu (not all reports agree on this negative correlation). Moreover, some but not all studies suggest that HR+/Her2/neu+ patients have a poor response to endocrine therapy, making this special group a matter of debate. In this prospective study we have analyzed the clinical outcome of our HR+/Her2/neu+ patients (n=51) selected from 516 consecutive stages I-II cases, with a follow-up 5-10 years (mean 7.3), treated with standard adjuvant therapy with tamoxifen (TAM) (TAM alone or TAM after chemotherapy). This group was compared with the HR+/Her-2/neu- patients (n=129) treated also with TAM. The tumor biopsies were studied by immunohistochemistry. We found that the association HR+/Her2/neu- was 2.5 times higher than the association HR+/Her2/neu+ (25% versus 9.9%, respectively). Our study also showed that the disease free survival (DFS) of the patients co-expressing HR and Her2/neu was significantly lower than those expressing HR but lacking of Her2/neu (p<0.001). A similar result was obtained when the overall survival (OS) was evaluated (p=0.001). All of these patients received hormone therapy with TAM, alone or after chemotherapy. When the analysis was performed in the patients treated with TAM alone, again the expression of Her-2/neu had a negative impact on both the DFS and the OS (p<0.05).  相似文献

In order to assess the specificity of biotinylated anti-c-erbB-3 antibody, screening was performed on a series of tumour cell lines and lymphocytes. Staining was found to be consistent, with good reproducibility. Twenty-nine consecutive breast cancer samples were obtained from women treated with tamoxifen and undergoing elective mastectomy. Twenty-eight invasive ductal carcinomas and 1 DCIS were stained for c-erbB-3 expression: 2 were grade I (Bloom and Richardson), 15 grade II, and 11 grade III tumours, 1 being unclassified; 16 were axillary node positive and 10 node negative; in 2 cases no nodes were sampled. Tumours examined by flow cytometry were stained with cytokeratin FITC antibody and the cytokeratin-positive population gated. Using Mann-Whitney analysis no association was seen between c-erbB-3 expression and Bloom and Richardson grade or axillary node status. In the tumour samples c-erbB-3 expression was found to show an association with EGF-R (P=0.021r 2=0.16), PgR (P=0.02,r 2=0.16), c-myc (P<0.0001,r 2=0.5), c-jun (P=0.001,r 2=0.4) and c-fos (P=0.001,r 2=0.5) but not with c-erbB-2 (P=0.2,r 2=0.06), ER (P=0.4,r 2=0.02) or p53 1801 (P=0.05,r 2=0.2). Expression of c-erbB-3 may not be an independent marker of prognosis, but it is associated with other markers of poor prognosis and early cellular events linked with aberrant growth and differentiation. This study was supported by The North of England Cancer Research Campaign  相似文献

Amplification of oncogenes in primary tumours may have prognostic and/or therapeutic significance for patients with breast cancer. We have studied HER2/neu and c-myc amplification together with steroid receptors in human primary breast tumours and related the outcome with (relapse-free) survival. A strong inverse correlation was found between HER2/neu amplification and the presence of oestrogen and progesterone receptors. Actuarial 5-years survival showed that breast cancer patients with c-myc amplification in their primary tumours experience a shorter relapse-free survival, especially in node-negative and in receptor-positive tumours, whereas HER2/neu amplification may be of prognostic value for overall survival in receptor-negative tumours. Overall, in our hands, c-myc amplification appeared to be a more potent prognosticator than HER2/neu amplification in human primary breast cancer.  相似文献

Her-2/neu belongs to the family of tyrosine kinase transmembrane proteins whose overexpression has been associated with a poor prognosis in patients with breast cancer. The product of this proto-oncogene is overexpressed in 25-30% of human breast cancer and is the target of selective immunotherapy. Concerned about the ethnic differences on the expression of this oncogene, we have evaluated 143 consecutive specimens of primary breast cancer diagnosed in San Pablo Hospital, Puerto Rico. The specimens were analyzed for Her-2/neu expression using immunohistochemistry assays (Hercept test). We have related the expression of hormone receptor status, percent cells in S phase, DNA ploidy, tumor size, nodal status and menopausal state with the Her2/neu expression. Out of 143 specimens, 28 overexpressed the Her-2/neu (19.6%). Of the Her/2 negative 30/114 (26%) were estrogen receptor negative as compared to 9/27 (33%) (p = 0.464). The degree of aneuploidy was abnormal in 25/104 (24%) in the Her-2/neu negative vs 11/27 (41%) p = 0.083. The percent cell in DNA synthesis was high in 16/77 (21%) in Her-2/neu negative vs 4/15 (27%) p = 0.613. The tumor size was greater than 2 cm in 35/106 (33%) in Her-2/neu negative vs 9/23 (39%) p = 0.575. In the progesterone specimens negative for Her2, 44/114 (39%) were Her2/neu negative vs 15/27 (56%) p = 0.108. No differences were seen regarding menopausal status, age and nuclear grading. A trend favoring abnormal aneuploidy in Her2/neu positive was seen. Nodal involvement was significantly associated with Her2/neu overexpression. (p = 0.037). Although the incidence of Her2 overexpression found in this database was somewhat lower than the one reported in the literature, this might also be due to the small cohort examined or to the technique utilized.  相似文献

In spite of the large number of studies on technical problems affecting the interlaboratory reproducibility of IHC HER-2/neu determination, only little is known about factors limiting the intra- and interobserver reproducibility in the actual practice of HER-2/neu expression analysis. The aim of the present INQAT study was to evaluate the intra- and inter-observer reproducibility of IHC HER-2 analysis among pathologists routinely working in Italian laboratories. Twenty immunostained slides were distributed to 12 pathologists who had to report, for each slide, the semiquantitative analysis of the percentage of immunopositive cells and the qualitative evaluation of the intensity of membrane staining. The intra- and interobserver reproducibility as well as the reproducibility between each laboratory and the reference values were quantified adopting an approach based on computation of the weighted kappa statistic (Kw). Additionally, in order to evaluate the contribution of each category to the overall agreement, the kappa category-specific statistics (Kcs) were estimated for both classification criteria by jointly considering all the participating laboratories. The intraobserver analyses showed a satisfactory level of reproducibility for both the percentage of positive cells (median Kw, 0.94; range: 0.80-0.96) and membrane staining (median Kw, 0.86; range: 0.78-0.96). Similarly, a fairly good level of reproducibility for the percentage of cells (median Kw, 0.89; range, 0.73-0.96) and the intensity of membrane staining (median Kw, 0.84; range, 0.72-0.92) were observed from comparisons with reference values. When all possible pairwise comparisons were performed, a satisfactory level of interobserver reproducibility was found for most laboratories. Kw values varied between 0.51 and 0.98 (median Kw, 0.80) and between 0.61 and 0.94 (median Kw, 0.81) for semiquantitative and qualitative measurements, respectively. Analysis of the contribution of the extreme categories to the overall agreement showed a substantial or almost perfect agreement for both classification criteria. Conversely, the contribution of intermediate categories appeared to be scarce or slight for the percentage of immunostained cells and slight or fair for the intensity of membrane staining. We conclude that, overall, the interobserver reproducibility in IHC analysis of HER-2/neu expression is satisfactory, although classification of the intermediate categories is problematic, both with regard to the percentage of immunostained cells and the intensity of membrane staining.  相似文献

Separate mechanisms for oncogenesis and metastasis have been postulated. We show here that prolonged and invasive cell migration, a key mechanism in cancer metastasis, is linked to c-erbB-2 signaling. Cell lines with c-erbB-2 and EGFR expression and transphosphorylation activity display a high transendothelial invasiveness in an endothelial-extracellular matrix model mimicking a capillary vessel wall in vitro. Tyrosine-phosphorylated c-erbB-2 receptors and EGFR are localized predominantly in areas of the cell with high membrane extension activity. On the molecular level, there is a subtle cross talk between the transmembrane signaling molecule c-erbB-2 and the actin cytoskeleton at multiple levels, including the generation of the second messenger PIP2 and the mobilization of the actin-regulatory protein gelsolin. Our data strongly suggest that c-erbB-2, especially in a heterodimer with EGFR, is closely involved in signaling pathways, inducing alterations in cell morphology that are required for a human breast cancer cell to become motile and conceivably metastatic.  相似文献

The expression of oncogene products related to cell growth (c-erbB-2, c-myc, ras p21, EGFR) was investigated in benign (15 cases) and malignant breast lesions (20 cases) by means of immunohistochemistry using the avidin-biotin-peroxidase technique with polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the staining positivity and various morphological and biological features, such as tumour type, grading, hormone receptor status and cell kinetic parameters. In benign breast lesions, as expected, the kinetic parameters were low, both for Ki-67 and LI. All the specimens showed a diploid condition (the DI being equal to 1) and we found a limited degree of immunoreactivity for all the growth factors and oncogene products. In breast cancer we studied the distribution of immunohistochemical positivity for EGFR, c-erbB-2, c-myc, ras p21 and Ki-67, which was related to age, nodal status, ER and PgR receptor status, LI, DI and histopathological grading. A significant positive correlation was found both between ras p21 expression and nodal status and ER-ICA positivity. We observed a strong correlation between LI and Ki-67 and an inverse relation between Ki-67 and ER expression. These findings suggest the importance of studying the relationship between prognostic factors which may provide preoperative prediction in the biological behaviour of breast cancer, not only on biopsy specimens, but also on fine needle aspirates.  相似文献
