Two novel Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterial strains BT702T and BT704T were isolated from soil collected in Jeongseon (37° 22′ 45″ N, 128° 39′ 53″ E), Gangwon province, South Korea. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strains BT702T and BT704T belong to distinct lineage within the genus Spirosoma (family Cytophagaceae, order Cytophagales, class Cytophagia and phylum Bacteroidetes). The strain BT702T was closely related to Spirosoma flavus 15J11-2T (96.7% 16S rRNA gene similarity) and Spirosoma metallilatum TX0405T (93.3%). The strain BT704T was closely related to Spirosoma koreense 15J8-5T (94.6%), Spirosoma endophyticum DSM 26130T (93.8%) and Spirosoma humi S7-4-1T (93.8%). The genome sizes of type strains BT702T and BT704T are 8,731,341 bp and 8,221,062 bp, respectively. The major cellular fatty acids of strains BT702T and BT704T were C16:1 ω5c and summed feature 3 (C16:1 ω6c/C16:1 ω7c). The strains were found to have the same quinone system, with MK-7 as the major respiratory quinone. The major polar lipids of strain BT702T was identified to be phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), aminophospholipid (APL) and aminolipid (AL), while that of strain BT704T consisted of phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) and aminophospholipid (APL). Based on the polyphasic analysis (phylogenetic, chemotaxonomic and biochemical), strains BT702T and BT704T can be suggested as two new bacterial species within the genus Spirosoma and the proposed names are Spirosoma profusum and Spirosoma validum, respectively. The type strain of Spirosoma profusum is BT702T (=?KACC 22028T?=?NBRC 114859T) and type strain of Spirosoma validum is BT704T (=?KACC 22030T?=?NBRC 114966T).

A Gram-staining positive, facultative aerobic bacterium, designated strain RH-N24T, was isolated from naked barley in South Korea. Cells of the isolate were observed to be motile rods by means of peritrichous flagella and showed catalase-positive and oxidase-negative reactions. Growth of strain RH-N24T was observed at 4–40 °C (optimum: 35–37 °C) and at pH 5.0–9.0 (optimum: pH 6.0–7.0). Chemotaxonomic data (major isoprenoid quinone: MK-7; DNA G + C content: 53.5 mol %; cell wall type: A1γ-meso-diaminopimelic acid; major fatty acids: anteiso-CB15:0 and CB16:0B) supported the affiliation of the isolate to the genus Paenibacillus. The major cellular polar lipids were identified as phosphatidylethanolamine, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol and two unidentified polar lipids. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences also supported the conclusion that strain RH-N24T belonged to the genus Paenibacillus. Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that strain RH-N24T was most closely related to Paenibacillus hunanensis FeL05T and Paenibacillus illinoisensis NRRL NRS-1356T with similarities of 94.64 and 94.54 %, respectively. On the basis of phenotypic and molecular properties, strain RH-N24T represents a novel species within the genus Paenibacillus for which the name Paenibacillus hordei sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is RH-N24T (=KACC 15511T = JCM 17570T).  相似文献

A Gram-negative, short, rod-shaped bacterium, TSA1T, was isolated from forest soil collected at Kyonggi University, South Korea. Assessment of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity indicated that the strain is related to Massilia niastensis 5516S-1T (98.3%), M. haematophila CCUG 38318T (97.9%), M. aerilata 5516S-11T (97.9%), M. tieshanensis TS3T (97.6%), and M. varians CCUG 3529T (97.1%). Colonies grown on Reasoner’s 2A agar at 30°C for 2 days were transparent, white, round, smooth, and glossy. The cells grew at 10–42°C (optimum: 25–37°C) and pH 5–9 (optimum: 5–9) and in 0–2% NaCl (optimum: 0–1%). TSA1T was able to grow on trypticase soy and nutrient agar, but not on Luria-Bertani or MacConkey agar. The strain was catalase- and oxidasepositive and able to degrade starch and casein, but not carboxymethyl cellulose. The predominant quinone of TSA1T was Q-8, the major fatty acids were summed feature 3 and C16:0, and the DNA G+C content was 66.7 mol%. Given these findings, we propose that this strain is a novel species of the genus Massilia. We suggest the name Massilia kyonggiensis sp. nov. (type strain, KACC 17471T =KEMB 9005-031T =JCM 19189T).  相似文献

A Gram-negative, rod-shaped, non-spore-forming and motile bacterial strain TR7-01(T) was isolated from a compost soil in South Korea and subjected to a polyphasic taxonomic study. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain TR7-01(T) belonged to the genus Hydrogenophaga within the class Betaproteobacteria. Strain TR7-01(T) exhibited 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity values of 95.0-98.3% to members of the genus Hydrogenophaga: Hydrogenophaga bisanensis DSM12412(T) (98.3%), Hydrogenophaga flava DSM 619(T) (97.1%), Hydrogenophaga pseudoflava ATCC 33668(T) (96.8%), Hydrogenophaga intermedia S1(T) (96.4%), Hydrogenophaga atypica BSB 41.8(T) (95.8%), Hydrogenophaga defluvii BSB 9.5(T) (95.7%), Hydrogenophaga palleronii CCUG 20334(T) (95.6%), Hydrogenophaga caeni EMB71(T) (95.4%) and Hydrogenophaga taeniospiralis ATCC 49743(T) (95.0%). Chemotaxonomic data revealed that strain TR7-01(T) possesses ubiquinone Q-8, the G+C content was 69.9 mol%, and the predominant fatty acids were 16 : 1 ω7c/15 : 0 iso 2OH, 18 : 1 ω7c/ω9t/ω12t and C(16:0), all of which corroborated our assignment of the strain to the genus Hydrogenophaga. The results of DNA-DNA hybridization and physiological and biochemical tests clearly demonstrated that strain TR7-01(T) represents a distinct species. Based on these data, TR7-01(T) (= KCTC 12203(T) = DSM 18117(T)) should be classified as a novel Hydrogenophaga species, for which the name Hydrogenophaga temperata sp. nov. has been proposed.  相似文献

A novel bacterium, designated strain 13-2-B6T, was isolated from seawater adjacent to Songak Mountain on Jeju Island, South Korea. The novel strain was observed to be Gram-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped and motile with a single polar flagellum. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, strain 13-2-B6T was determined to be phylogenetically closely related to the type strain of Antarctobacter heliothermus, currently the sole species of the genus Antarctobacter (family Rhodobacteraceae). Sequence similarity between the 16S rRNA genes of strain 13-2-B6T and A. heliothermus EL-219T is 96.9 %. Strain 13-2-B6T was found to grow optimally at 25–30 °C, pH 7.0–8.0 and 3 % (w/v) NaCl. The predominant isoprenoid quinone in strain 13-2-B6T was identified as ubiquinone Q-10 and the major fatty acids were identified as C18:1 ω7c and/or C18:1 ω6c. Phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, two unknown aminolipids, two unknown phospholipids, an unknown glycolipid and an unknown lipid were found to be components of the polar lipid profile. The G + C content of strain 13-2-B6T was determined to be 62 mol %. On the basis of its phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic distinctiveness, strain 13-2-B6T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Antarctobacter, for which the name Antarctobacter jejuensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is 13-2-B6T (=KCTC 42009T =JCM 19898T).  相似文献

Mycoplasmas isolated from the throats of lions were shown to belong to three serotypes, all of which were serologically distinct from the previously recognized Mycoplasma and Acholeplasma spp. Eight mycoplasma colonies were cloned, including one from a leopard (strain LP), and were examined in detail for morphology, growth, and biochemical characteristics. The strains had the following properties: guanine-plus-cytosine contents of 37 mol% (strain LXT [T = type strain]), 28 mol% (strain LL2T), and 27 mol% (strain 3L2T) and a requirement for sterol. Strain 3L2T metabolized glucose, which was not metabolized by strains LXT and LL2T. Arginine and urea were not hydrolyzed. Strain LX (= NCTC 11724) is the type strain of a new species, Mycoplasma simbae; strain LL2 (= NCTC 11725) is the type strain of a second new species, Mycoplasma leopharyngis; and strain 3L2 (= NCTC 11726) is the type strain of a third new species, Mycoplasma leocaptivus.  相似文献

A Gram-positive strain designated as MSL-14T isolated from a soil sample collected from Bigeum Island, Korea, was subjected to polyphasic taxonomy. The isolate was strictly aerobic. Cells were short rods and motile. Optimum growth temperature and pH was 28 degrees and 7.0, respectively. It was characterized chemotaxonomically as having a cell-wall peptidoglycan type based on LL-2,6-diaminopimelic acid and MK-8(H4) as the predominant menaquinone. The major fatty acids were iso-C16:0, C17:1 omega8c, and C18:1 omega9c. The G+C content was 67.6 mol%. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that strain MSL-14T is affiliated to the genus Nocardioides and formed a distinct lineage within the genus. MSL-14T showed highest sequence similarity to Nocardioides aestuarii JCM 12125T, having a similarity of 96.5%. Based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence divergence and phenotypic characteristics, it is proposed that strain MSL-14T should be classified as representing a novel member of the genus Nocardioides, for which we propose the name Nocardioides tritolerans sp. nov. The type strain is strain MSL-14T (=KCTC 19289T= DSM 19320T).  相似文献

Two Gram-negative, nonmotile, coccobacilli, SW-3T and SW-100T, were isolated from sea water of the Yellow Sea in Korea. Strains SW-3T and SW-100T contained ubiquinone-9 (Q-9) as the predominant respiratory lipoquinone and C18:1 omega9c and C16:0 as the major fatty acids. The DNA G+C contents of strains SW-3T and SW-100T were 44.1 mol% and 41.9 mol%, respectively. A neighbor-joining tree based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that the two isolates fell within the evolutionary radiation enclosed by the genus Acinetobacter. Strains SW-3T and SW-100T exhibited a 16S rRNA gene similarity value of 95.7% and a mean DNA-DNA relatedness level of 9.2%. Strain SW-3T exhibited 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity levels of 93.5-96.9% to the validly described Acinetobacter species and fifteen Acinetobacter genomic species. Strain SW-100T exhibited 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity levels of less than 97.0% to the other Acinetobacter species except Acinetobacter towneri DSM 14962T (98.0% similarity). Strains SW-3T and SW-100T exhibited mean levels of DNA-DNA relatedness of 7.3-16.7% to the type strains of some phylogenetically related Acinetobacter species. On the basis of phenotypic, phylogenetic, and genetic data, strains SW-3T and SW-100T were classified in the genus Acinetobacter as two distinct novel species, for which the names Acinetobacter marinus sp. nov. (type strain SW-3T=KCTC 12259T=DSM 16312T) and Acinetobacter seohaensis sp. nov. (type strain SW-100T=KCTC 12260T=DSM 16313T) are proposed, respectively.  相似文献
