Molecular phylogenetic analyses have revealed many relationships in Veronica (Plantaginaceae) never anticipated before. However, phytochemical characters show good congruence with DNA-based analyses. We have analysed a combined data set of 49 species and subspecies derived from the nuclear ribosomal ITS-region (18 new sequences) and the plastid trnL-F region (12 new sequences) of Veronica emphasizing subgenera Chamaedrys and Pocilla and separate analyses of subgenera Pentasepalae (ITS only) and Pseudolysimachium. Results for subgenus Chamaedrys show that European and Asian perennial species are monophyletic sister groups with the annual species consecutive sisters to them. All species of Veronica that contain cornoside are found in this subgenus, although some species seem to have secondarily lost the ability to produce this compound. Subgenera Pocilla and Pentasepalae are well supported sister groups characterized by the occurrence of 8-hydroxyflavones. The traditional subsection Biloba of subgenus Pocilla is biphyletic with Veronica intercedens being clearly separate from the rest of the group. This result is mirrored by the unusual phytochemical arsenal of V. intercedens, which is the only species in the genus analysed to date to contain melittoside and globularifolin. Subgenus Pentasepalae appears to be a clade of diverse lineages from southwestern Asia and a single European clade. Species shown to have 6-hydroxyflavones do not form a monophyletic group. Subgenus Pseudolysimachium seems to have originated in Eastern Asia. 6-Hydroxyflavones acylated with phenolic acids are common in this subgenus but may have originated only later in the evolution of the group. Possible chemotaxonomic markers for other groups are discussed.  相似文献

Eighty-seven populations, representing eight species of Amica subgenus Austromontana, were examined for flavonoids. A total of 22 compounds, including simple and methylated flavone and flavonol glycosides as well as methylated aglycones, were isolated and identified. The two widespread species, A. cordifolia and its presumed early derivative A. latifolia, are ancestral species of the subgenus. From these two species, major evolutionary diversification within the subgenus has taken place largely in the Klamath region of Oregon and California, resulting in the formation of several rare, endemic species. These endemics are generally characterized by reduced flavonoid profiles and/or an increase in the number of methylated aglycones while, in contrast, the wider ranging species have few methylated aglycones and more glycosides. However, one species, A. viscosa, a rare volcanic endemic, exhibits the most elaborate and specialized flavonoid profile within the subgenus.  相似文献

Thirty-one accessions of nine species belonging to three subgenera of Ocimum (basil, family Lamiaceae) were surveyed for flavonoid glycosides. Substantial infraspecific differences in flavonoid profiles of the leaves were found only in O. americanum, where var. pilosum accumulated the flavone C-glycoside, vicenin-2, which only occurred in trace amounts in var. americanum and was not detected in cv. Sacred. The major flavonoids in var. americanum and cv. Sacred, and also in all other species investigated for subgenus Ocimum, were flavonol 3-O-glucosides and 3-O-rutinosides. Many species in subgenus Ocimum also produced the more unusual compound, quercetin 3-O-(6″-O-malonyl)glucoside, and small amounts of flavone O-glycosides. The level of flavonol glycosides produced was reduced significantly in glasshouse-grown plants, but levels of flavone glycosides were unaffected. A single species investigated from subgenus Nautochilus, O. lamiifolium, had a different flavonoid glycoside profile, although the major compound was also a flavonol O-glycoside. This was identified as quercetin 3-O-xylosyl(1‴→2″)galactoside, using NMR spectroscopy. The species investigated from subgenus Gymnocimum, O. tenuiflorum (=O. sanctum), was characterised by the accumulation of flavone O-glycosides. These were isolated, and identified as the 7-O-glucuronides of luteolin and apigenin. Luteolin 5-O-glucoside was found in all nine species of Ocimum studied, and is considered to be a key character for the genus.  相似文献

Due to its wide distribution covering three of the largest Neotropical biomes, Philodendron subgenus Meconostigma is an interesting model to discuss the diversification of Neotropical plants. The aim of this study was to test a previous hypothesis that the Eastern and Southern species of P. subg. Meconostigma have plesiomorphic gynoecial structure while in Amazonian species they are apomorphic. To this end, we conducted an analysis of maximum parsimony with generalized frequency coding method using a matrix with 59 morphological characters and 90% of the species of P. subg. Meconostigma. The phylogenetic reconstruction suggests that the subgenus is monophyletic and originates from open areas of Cerrado. Four morphological synapomorphies support the monophyly of the subgenus and seven synapomorphies support four minor clades within it. Our results also include characterization of three new gynoecial subtypes (A1, A2 and A3) within the subgenus. Subtype A2 (undeveloped stylar body with long stylar canals, absent central stylar dome, shallow compitum) is basal and represents the ancestral gynoecium in the group. These findings suggest that the balance between pollen uptake and accessibility of the locules were decisive to drive gynoecium evolution in the subgenus Meconostigma.  相似文献

Members of Veronica subg. Pseudolysimachium are widely known and cultivated for their large and dense ornamental inflorescences. Their success as cultivated plants stems in part to the cross‐compatibility of members of the subgenus and in part to their wide ecological amplitude ranging from species growing in wetlands to those of semi‐deserts. Due to large morphological variation and the presence of intermediate forms growing in sympatry of their putative parents, hybridization between the species is believed to be frequent. The Russian Altai is a center of diversity for the subgenus and many hybrid taxa have been described from there based on morphology. Here, we test these hybrid hypotheses using dominant SRAP markers. The method relies on primers anchored in open reading frames and amplifying intronic regions, which are scored as fragment length polymorphisms. Using seven primer pairs, we analyzed 63 loci without missing data. Our data support a close relationship of V. × grisea, V. × schmakovii and V. taigischensis with V. longifolia while the influence from the other suggested parents V. incana, V. porphyriana and V. pinnata was weak (at most). Similarly, V. × sessiliflora shows strong genetic similarity with V. porphyriana but only slight influence from V. pinnata. Overall, the methodology worked reliably and provided a large number of variable polymorphisms. The lack of support for the hybrid hypotheses may be due to the relatively low number of loci analysed and/or possible backcrossing with one of the parents.  相似文献

In a leaf survey of 54 specimens of 11 Old World Lupinus species three classes of flavonoids were detected: flavones (in 82%), flavonols (in 36%) and flavone C-glycosides (in 55%). The rough-seeded species were clearly distinguished from the smooth-seeded taxa by the presence of a novel 2′-hydroxyflavone, luteolin and flavone C-glycosides as major leaf constituents and by the absence of flavonols. Within the smooth-seeded species, there are three flavonoid patterns: (a) flavonols only, L. albus; (b) flavones and flavonols, L. luteus, L. hispanicus and L. angustifolius; and (c) flavones only, L. micranthus. L. angustifolius further differed in uniquely producing diosmetin as a major leaf constituent. These divisions coincide exactly with previous groupings based on alkaloidal and morphological data. Amongst the 12 samples of L. angustifolius three chemical races were distinguished and a number of diosmetin glucoside malate esters detected. The flower flavonoid aglycone patterns of the nine Old World species surveyed differed markedly from the corresponding leaf profiles by the presence of flavones: luteolin and apigenin in eight and chrysoeriol in seven species as major constituents, while flavone C-glycosides were found only in trace amount in three species. In a leaf flavonoid survey of 13 representative New World Lupinus taxa, glycoflavones were major leaf components, a variety of methylated flavones were identified and flavonols were absent. The presence of the novel 2′-hydroxyflavone in five New World species may indicate some evolutionary link with the rough seeded taxa of the Old World.  相似文献

All species of Galeopsis contain aucubin-like glycosides in roots, leaves and seeds. Acetylharpagide is typical of leaves of the species of the subgenus Ladanum and galiridoside characterizes leaves of taxa of the subgenus Tetrahit. However, the leaves of Galeopsis pubescens, G. segetum and G. pyrenaica contain appreciable amounts of both constituents. In roots and seeds, the difference between the two subgenera is less striking. However, roots of species of subgenus Tetrahit are characterized by a third constituent, called bifida-substance. Some chemical characters of Galeopsis are discussed and evaluated systematically. Galeopsis resembles Lamiastrum in leaf aucubinoids.  相似文献

Acetylated 3β-O-β-glycosyl steroid derivatives were synthesized by the reaction of a new polyhydroxysteroid 3β,5α,6β-trihydroxypregn-16-en-20-one (2) with the peracetylated 1-bromo derivatives of d-glucose and d-galactose, respectively. Subsequent protection by excess acetic anhydride in pyridine selectively gave the 6β-O-acetylated steroid glycosides. Deprotection of the acetylated steroid glycosides separately with moderate catalysis dibutyltin oxide in methanol selectively removed all acetyl groups of sugar moiety, whereas the acetyl group of the steroid part was retained. The structures of the steroid glycosides were confirmed by mass spectrometry, NMR and IR. The complete protocol was shown to be non-destructive at all stages to the sugar moieties and the steroid nucleus. These regioselective reactions open a route to the synthesis of a series of closely related isomers of 2 and other widespread polyhydroxysteroids and steroid glycosides in marine organisms and some terrestrial species.  相似文献

Flavonoids in five lines ofVigna mungo, fifteen lines ofV. radiata var.radiata and two lines ofV. radiata var.sublobata, which belong to the subgenus Ceratotropis, were examined. In hypocotyls, seed-coats and mature leaves of those plants, twelve kinds of flavonoid including three anthocyanins, two leucoanthocyanins, two glycoflavones and five flavonol glycosides were found, and their distribution pattern in twenty-two lines of the legumes is discussed. The leaves ofV. radiata var.radiata and var.sublobata contained the glycosides (mainly rutin) of both quercetin and kaempferol, while those ofV. mungo contained only kaempferol glycosides, with robinin as the predominant pigment, and the purple-red hypocotyls of the former group contained delphinidin 3-p-coumaroylglucoside, while those of the latter contained cyanidin 3-glucoside, although delphinidin 3-glucoside was commonly found in all of the plants. With the exception of two lines, all of the seed-coats examined contained in common four compounds of vitexin, isovitexin, leucocyanidin and leucodelphinidin, whereas in addition to these pigments the black seed-coats ofV. mungo andV. radiata var.sublobata TC 1965 contained delphindin 3-glucoside.  相似文献

The Heliohebe group of Veronica (sect. Hebe) consists of five species occurring in the South Island of New Zealand. These species and a hybrid were analysed for their flavonoids. Five flavone glycosides were isolated and identified by NMR spectroscopy and three additional glycosides were detected by LC–UV–MS. Luteolin 7-O-, 3′-O- and 4′-O-glucosides and apigenin 7-O-glucoside were present in all six taxa investigated, 6-hydroxyluteolin glycosides were found in five and a luteolin caffeoylglycoside in four taxa, while a hypolaetin 7-O-glycoside was detected only in Veronica pentasepala. The 3′-O- and 4′-O-glucosides of luteolin are also common in other species of Veronica sect. Hebe (restricted to the Southern Hemisphere), but are rare in Northern Hemisphere species of Veronica and thus act as good chemotaxonomic markers for the section. The relatively simple flavonoid profiles found in the Heliohebe group are plesiomorphic and consistent with the group's status as sister to the Hebe clade. Based on the detected flavonoids, two groups could be distinguished within the Heliohebe clade: (1) Veronica hulkeana, Veronica lavaudiana and Veronica raoulii, characterised by luteolin caffeoylglycoside, and (2) V. pentasepala and Veronica scrupea, where this compound is replaced by a 6-hydroxyluteolin dihexoside.  相似文献

A number of alleles of an orthologous gene His6 encoding histone H1 subtype f (H1-6 in pea) accumulated in chromatin of old tissues were sequenced in three legume species: seven alleles in Pisum sativum, four in Vicia unijuga and eight in Lathyrus gmelinii. In the total of 19 alleles sequenced in the three species, 29 non-synonymous substitutions and six indels were found in the coding region; most of amino acid substitutions (26 of 29) and all indels occurred in the C-terminal hydrophilic domain of the encoded protein. All species were polymorphic for some non-synonymous substitutions, V. unijuga was also polymorphic for one and P. sativum for two indels. Three near-isogenic lines of P. sativum bearing different alleles showed differences in many quantitative traits; that in the growth dynamic could be tentatively attributed to the allelic substitution of subtype H1-6. The frequencies of four electromorphs in a sampled locality of V. unijuga were found to be close to those observed 25?years ago, although their rapid change in the past was supposed in the previous study.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to quantify the phenotypic differences amongst the taxa included in Veronica subgenus Pentasepalae, represented in the western Mediterranean area. In combination with previously obtained data on genotypic differences, this enabled the recognition of eight taxonomic units. The delimitation of the boundaries among species and subspecies was mainly based on molecular data, whereas the best characters to discriminate taxa were selected after an accurate study of herbarium material and living populations. Such a selection was also supported by a detailed morphometric study of 30 quantitative leaf traits in 88 populations. Several morphological characters, including the length of the trichomes, length of the petiole and leaf division, were found to be robust, and could be useful in the identification of the taxa involved. As a conclusion, a key to the taxa is proposed, as well as a complete nomenclatural treatment for the group, which includes the typification of several names. © 2009 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2009, 159 , 68–87.  相似文献

Seventeen flavonoid glycosides were isolated from the leaves of the nine species of Coreopsis sect. Coreopsis. The compounds include two flavones, four flavonols, a 6-hydroxyflavone, a 6-hydroxyflavonol, two 6-methoxyflavones, a 6-methoxyflavonol and three chalcone-aurone pairs. Chemistry distinguishes all species except C. auriculata and C. intermedia. The mean flavonoid similarity for pair-wise comparison of the four species of annuals (C. basalis, C. nuecensis, C. nuecensoides and C. wrightii) is 0.63 whereas it is 0.66 for the five perennial species (C. auriculata, C. grandiflora, C. intermedia, C. lanceolata, C. pubescens) and 0.54 for comparison of annuals with perennials. This indicates that on the average there is slightly higher flavonoid similarity among species of annuals and among species of perennials than there is between annuals and perennials. Lack of the chalcone-aurone pair coreopsin-sulfurein in perennials is the only consistent chemical difference between annuals and perennials. Leaf flavonoid chemistry supports the hypothesis that C. nuecensis and C. nuecensoides are closely related species but flavonoid data are not concordant with the hypothesis of close relationship between C. basalis and C. wrightii, intermedia, Coreopsis pubescens and C. lanceolata are considered closely related and flavonoid chemistry is concordant with this hypothesis. Coreopsis lanceolata is also viewed as closely allied to C. auriculata, but flavonoids suggest the latter species is more similar to C. intermedia. Coreopsis grandiflora is the only perennial species lacking flavonols and has the fewest number of compounds of any species in the section; chemical data support the view that C. grandiflora is quite distinct from other perennial species of sect. Dried aerial parts of Tetragonia tetragonoides were extracted with 70% EtOH, and the evaporated residue was successively separated into EtOAc, n-BuOH, and H2O fractions. As a result of repeated SiO2, ODS, and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography, four new 6-methoxyflavonol glycosides (24, 8) along with four known ones (1, 57) were isolated. Several spectroscopic data led to determination of chemical structures for four new 6-methoxyflavonol glycosides (24, 8) and four known ones, 6-methoxykaempferol 3-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-β-d-glucopyranosyl-7-O-(6‴′-(E)-caffeoyl)-β-d-glucopyranoside (1), 6-methoxyquercetin (5), 6-methoxykaempferol (6), and 6-methoxykaempferol 7-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (7). Methoxyflavonol glycosides 28 also have never been reported from T. tetragonoides in this study. 6-Methoxyflavonols 5 and 6 showed high radical scavenging potential in DPPH and ABTS test. Also, all compounds showed significant anti-inflammatory activities such as reduction of NO and PGE2 formation and suppression of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, iNOS, and COX-2 expression in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages. In general, the aglycones exhibited higher activity than the glycosides. In addition, quantitative analysis of 6-methoxyflavonols in the T. tetragonoides aerial parts extract was conducted through HPLC.  相似文献

The subgenus Archaesolanum is a group composed of eight species with a characteristic chromosome number based on n?=?x?=?23 and an area restricted to the South Pacific. This subgenus is an isolated group of Solanum for which extensive information about phylogenetic relationships based on molecular genetic methods is lacking. This study represents an approach to analyze genetic relationships within this group. In this context, seven species were examined using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers. In further analysis, the amplification products of two chloroplast regions (trnS-trnG and rbcL) were studied with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) method. Screening for the presence of unique mitochondrial rearrangements was also carried out using universal mitochondrial primers for the detection of fragment length polymorphisms. We identified two major groups within the subgenus; one was composed of the members of ser. Avicularia and Laciniata, while the other was formed by species belonging to ser. Similia. It is suggested that the taxonomic status of series within the Archaesolanum clade should be revised. The hybrid origin of S.?laciniatum was also tested, and two hypotheses regarding its phylogeny are assumed.  相似文献

Five flavonoid glycosides, three chlorogenic and one benzoic acid were isolated from leaves of seven species belonging to the genera Notopleura, Palicourea and Psychotria. In most species, common flavonol glycosides based upon quercetin and kaempferol were recorded, which corresponds well to literature data on other species of the Psychotria alliance. From Notopleura polyphlebia, however, the new dihydroflavonol glycoside (2R,3R)-7,4′-O-dimethyl-aromadendrin 5-O-β-d-apiofuranosyl-(1→6)-β-d-glucopyranoside (1) was isolated, which is remarkable in terms of both the structure of the aglycone as well as the rarity of apiose as sugar moiety. In addition to flavonoids, benzoic and chlorogenic acids are a common and frequently neglected feature in the alliance, but all appear to be of limited chemosystematic significance when compared to tryptamine-iridoid alkaloids prominently known from this group.  相似文献

A new species of the genus Cryptocephalus is described from the Malaysary Mountains (Southeastern Kazakhstan). The new species belongs to the subgenus Asionus and is closest to the group of species with a deep impression on the male anal (V) sternite (C. halophilus, C. impressipygus and C. mniczechi). Cryptocephalus malaysaryensis sp. n. clearly differs in the structure of the aedeagus and abdominal sternite V of the male.  相似文献

Enterocytozoon bieneusi is an important zoonotic pathogen. To assess the human-infective potential of E. bieneusi in nonhuman primates (NHPs), we examined the prevalence and genotype distribution of E. bieneusi in 23 NHP species by PCR and sequence analysis of the ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS). A total of 1,386 fecal specimens from NHPs from five provinces in China were examined, and E. bieneusi was detected in 158 (11.4%) specimens from five NHP species, including cynomolgus monkey (67.7%), rhesus macaque (8.8%), Japanese macaque (33.3%), white-headed langur (13.6%), and golden snub-nosed monkey (3.5%) (P < 0.0001). The infection rates were 70.2%, 21.5%, 8.5%, 7.5%, and 5.6% in Guangdong, Yunnan, Guangxi, Henan, and Sichuan Provinces, respectively (P < 0.0001). The prevalence was significantly higher in captive (13.7%) than in free-range (5.0%) animals (P < 0.0001). Altogether, 16 ITS genotypes were observed, including nine known genotypes (IV, D, Henan V, Peru8, PigEBITS7, EbpC, Peru11, BEB6, and I) and seven new genotypes (CM1 to CM7). The common genotypes included CM1, IV, and D, which were detected in 43, 31, and 30 specimens, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that seven known genotypes (but not BEB6 and I) and four new genotypes (CM1, CM2, CM3, and CM6) belonged to the previously described group 1 with zoonotic potential. Genotypes CM5 and CM7 clustered with group 2, whereas genotype CM4 did not belong to any of the previously proposed groups. It was concluded that humans and NHPs residing in the same geographical location shared the same E. bieneusi genotypes, indicating a potential role of these animals in the zoonotic transmission of E. bieneusi.  相似文献

Two new subgenera and eight new species of the subfamily Phalangopsinae are described from Sulawesi, Supiori, Mindoro, Palawan, Sumatra, and Cousin islands. Two former subgenera, Longizacla and Brevizacla, are considered as genera. The new synonymy for a subgenus of the genus Luzonogryllus is established.
