An alga known as “Nannochloropsis”, isolated from a prawn farm in Hainan, China, has been critically investigated and identified as Chlorella, a member of the Chlorophyceae based on fatty acid composition, ultrastructure, and 18S rDNA. Cells of this alga were spherical, measured by 1–6 μm in diameter and were enclosed in thin walls of approximately 0.04 μm thickness. They contained several small mitochondria, two to three thylakoids and had no vacuoles. There were many pyrenoids in the algal cells and their thylakoid lamellae were sparse and not translucent. Many lipid droplets were present in the cytoplasm. The total lipid content of this alga was 3% per gram dry weight and its major fatty acids were C16:0, C18:0, C18:1, C18:2, C18:3 and C20:0. Eicosapentaenoic acid (C20:5, EPA) was not detected. The length of its 18S rDNA sequence was 1,712 bp. 18S rDNA sequence analyses indicated that this alga was a species of Chlorella.  相似文献

This work describes the karyotype and chromosomal location of the ribosomal DNA (rDNA) of Pecten maximus and Mimachlamys varia, two commercial scallop species from Europe. According to the chromosome centromeric index values found, the karyotype of P. maximus is composed of 1 metacentric, 2 metacentric–submetacentric, 1 telocentric–subtelocentric and 15 telocentric pairs, and that of M. varia of 4 metacentric, 2 subtelocentric–submetacentric, 9 subtelocentric, 3 subtelocentric–telocentric and 1 telocentric–subtelocentric pairs. In P. maximus, 18S-28S rDNA was located by FISH on a metacentric–submetacentric pair, and in M. varia on a subtelocentric–submetacentric pair using both silver staining and FISH. PCR amplification of the 5S rDNA unit yielded a single product of about 460 bp (P. maximus) and 450 bp (M. varia), that used as probe revealed a 5S rDNA site on a telocentric pair in P. maximus and a subtelocentric pair in M. varia. Two-color FISH or sequential silver staining of 5S rDNA-FISH-metaphases corroborated that the two gene families are located on different chromosomes in both species. A comparative analysis of the data allowed the inference of karyotypic relationships within scallops.  相似文献

An exhaustive qualitative and quantitative profiling of the photosynthetic glycerolipids in three strains of the marine diatom Skeletonema sp. was carried out by ultra performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-quadrupole-time of flight-mass spectrometry. In the diatom thylakoid membrane, monogalactosyldiacylglycerol (MGDG) and digalactosyldiacylglycerol (DGDG) account for about 45–70% and 5–15% of the total membrane lipids, respectively. The anionic sulfoquinovosyldiacylglycerol (SQDG) as well as the likewise anionic phosphatidylglycerol (PG) contribute between 10–40% and 4–10% each. The predominant species of MGDG were those with C16:3/C16:3, C20:5/16:1, and C20:5/C16:3. Three main molecular species of DGDG contained C20:5/C16:1, C20:5/C16:2, and C16:1/C16:1. The major molecular species of SQDG were those containing combinations of C14:0/C14:0, C14:0/C16:0, C14:0/C16:1, and C14:0/C16:3. All the PG classes contained the C18:1/C18:1 as the main molecular species. Based on the fatty acid species in sn-2 position, it is indicated that MGDG and DGDG are biosynthesized through prokaryotic pathway exclusively within the chloroplast, whereas PG and SQDG have a typical mixed biosynthetic pathway (both prokaryotic pathway and eukaryotic pathways). The chemical characteristics of photosynthetic glycerolipids related with ecological physiology are discussed.  相似文献

The fatty acid content and composition of the house cricket Acheta domesticus have been investigated in entire insects at different developmental stages and in selected organs of male and female adults. We have also determined the fatty acid composition of the various lipid classes within extracts of the organs of adult female insects. Fatty acids were analysed by capillary gas chromatography or mass spectrometry as their methyl esters (FAMEs) after direct transesterification of insect material or separated lipid classes. The major esterified fatty acids in all extracts were palmitate (C16:0), stearate (C18:0), oleate (C18:1) and linoleate (C18:2). Levels of esterified fatty acid varied considerably between organs but the fatty acid compositions showed only small variations. The levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids of the C18 series were considerably higher in phospholipid fractions than in other lipid classes. Triacylglycerols formed the major lipid class in ovaries, fat-body and newly-laid eggs, whereas diacylglycerols and phospholipid predominate in the haemolymph. Triacylglycerols, phospholipids, diacylglycerols and free fatty acids were all found in significant amounts in the gut tissue.  相似文献

The antibiotic resistance and lipid composition of rhodococci grown in rich organic media with gaseous or liquidn-alkanes were studied. Hydrocarbon-grown rhodococci exhibited an increased resistance to a wide range of antibiotics (aminoglycosides, linkosamides, macrolides, β-lactams, and aromatic compounds). The enhanced antibiotic resistance of rhodococci grown onn-alkanes correlated with an increased content of total cell lipids (up to 14–28%) and saturated straight-chain fatty acids (C16:0, C18:0, C21:0) and was accompanied by the appearance of cardiolipin and phosphatidylglycerol in cells. These lipid compounds are supposed to promote the formation of nonspecific antibiotic resistance in rhodococci by decreasing the permeability of their cell envelope to antibiotics.  相似文献

Chagas disease is one of the most important insect-vectored diseases in Brazil. The entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium anisopliae was evaluated against nymphs and adults of Panstrongylus megistus, Triatoma infestans, and T. sordida. Pathogenicity tests at saturated humidity demonstrated high susceptibility to fungal infection. The shortest estimates of 50% lethal time (LT50) for P. megistus varied from 4.6 (isolate E9) to 4.8 days (genetically modified strain 157p). For T. infestans, the shortest LT50 was 6.3 (E9) and 7.3 days (157p). For T. sordida, the shortest LT50 was 8.0 days (157p). The lethal concentration sufficient to kill 50% of T. infestans (LC50) was 1.9 × 107 conidia/ml for strain 157p. In three chicken coops that were sprayed with M. anisopliae, nymphs especially were well controlled, with a great population reduction of 38.5% after 17 days. Therefore M. anisopliae performed well, controlling Triatominae in both laboratory and field studies.  相似文献

The fatty acid composition of the total lipid fractions of five different Leishmania organisms grown on Eagle's medium was determined by gas chromatography. The major fatty acids identified in the total lipid fractions of L. donovani, L. tropica major, L. tropica minor, L. tropica (England strain), and L. enriettii were C12:0, C13:0, C14:0, C15:0, C16:0, C17:0, C18:0, C18:1, C18:2, and C18:3. The statistical differences among the fatty acid methyl esters of different Leishmania organisms are discussed.Gas chromatographic analysis of the fatty acid methyl esters of the total lipid fractions of the original Eagle's medium and the media after harvesting of various Leishmania species revealed the presence of C18:3 fatty acid in the total lipid fraction of the medium of L. donovani and the complete absence of 18-carbon unsaturated fatty acids in the total lipid fraction of the medium of L. enriettii. The use of such differences in the differentiation of various Leishmania species is discussed.  相似文献

Three pigmented strains of halophilic archaea, RS94-RS96, were isolated from acidic foamy products of flotation enrichment of potassium minerals (Silvinit Co., Solikamsk, Russia). The cells were gram-negative, nonmotile, pleomorphic ovoids, 1.0−1.5 × 1.5−2.5 μm. The isolates were chemoorganotrophic, obligately aerobic, and catalase-positive. A range of carbohydrates and organic acids was used, as well as amino acids and peptides. The strains were halophiles and thermotolerant neutrophiles. They grew in the media with 15 to 30% NaCl (optimum at 20–22%) and 0.005–0.7 M Mg2+ (0.1–0.2 M), at pH 5.0–8.2 (optimum 7.0–7.2) and 25–55°C (optimum at 35–50°C). The major fatty acids were C16:0, C18:1, C18:0, and C16:1. The membranes contained carotenoid pigments of the bacterioruberin series and polar lipids, mostly as C20,C20 isoprenoid derivates: phosphatidylglyceromethylphosphate, phosphatidylglycerol, and three unidentified sulfated glycolipids of the S-DGD type. The DNA G+C content was 65.1–66.4 mol %. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequencing revealed that the thermotolerant neutrophilic isolate RS94 (DNA G+C content of 66.4 mol %) was most closely related to the nonpigmented moderate acidophile Halarchaeum acidiphilum MH1-52-1T (97.3%). Based on its phenotypic and genotypic characteristics, the organism was classified as a new species of the genus Halarchaeum with the proposed name Halarchaeum solikamskense sp. nov. The type strain is RS94T (= VKPM B-11282T).  相似文献

Newly isolated Acinetobacter (NRRL B-14920, B-14921, B-14923) and coryneform (NRRL B-14922) strains accumulated oleyl oleate and homologous liquid wax esters (C30:2–C36:2) in culture broths. Diunsaturated oleyl oleate preponderated in 75 mg liquid wax esters (280 mg lipid extract) recovered from 100-ml cultures of Acinetobacter B-14920 supplemented with 810 mg oleic acid–oleyl alcohol. With soybean oil instead of oleic acid, wax esters (260 mg) were increased to approximately 50% of the lipid extract. Production of wax esters by cultures supplemented with combined fatty (C8–C18) alcohols and acids suggests a coordinated synthesis whereby the exogenous alcohol remains unaltered, and the fatty acid is partially oxidized with removal of C2 units before esterification. Consequently, C8–C18 primary alcohols control chain lengths of the wax esters. Exogenous fatty acids are presumed to enter an intracellular oxidation pool from which is produced a homologous series of liquid wax esters.  相似文献

The composition of the cuticular and internal lipids of larvae and pupae of Lucilia sericata was studied using chromatographic techniques. The lipids from both stages of L. sericata had similar free fatty acid (FFA) profiles and also contained alcohols and cholesterol. The range of the number of C‐atoms detected for these classes of compounds was to some extent similar in larvae and pupae, but the relative amounts of each class differed between stages. Saturated as well as unsaturated FFAs with even and odd numbered C‐atom chains were present in both cuticular and internal lipids. The alcohol fractions of L. sericata were represented by free, straight‐chain primary alcohols containing an even number of C‐atoms. The lipid composition of male and female L. sericata adults and the hydrocarbon composition of all stages of L. sericata had previously been analyzed. To have a full overview of the lipid composition and to identify similarities or dissimilarities between the individual lipid fractions in this insect species, two‐way hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) was performed using also the data from these previous publications. The content of FFA 18 : 1 (n‐9) was noticed to be very high in the cuticular fractions of larvae and pupae as well as in all internal fractions (male, female, larvae, and pupae) and low in the cuticular fractions of male and female imago. The contents of FFAs 16 : 0 and 16 : 1 (n‐9), cholesterol, and the n‐alkanes n‐C31, n‐C29, n‐C27, n‐C25, and n‐C23 varied between particular fractions, whereas the amounts of other compounds were similar in all fractions.  相似文献

The protein content of the filamentous Cladophora glomerata (L.) Kz., Ulothrix zonata (Web, & Mohr) Kz. and Spirogyra sp., collected from natural populations for 1 year, averaged 8.0–12.4% of the total dry weight; whereas, the corresponding levels of lipid, cellulose and ash were 11.9–16.1%, 10.0–17.8% and 14.6–24.0%, respectively. Mean values for carbohydrates, estimated by difference, ranged from 32.8 to 56.0%. The colonial Scenedesmus dimorphus (Turp.) Kz. and the unicellular Cosmarium laeve Rab., on the other hand, contained more protein, lipid and carbohydrate (estimated by difference) averaging 13–15.0%, 22.5–25.9% and 415–46.8%, respectively, and less cellulose (7.5–9.8%) and ash (8.2–9.8%). A consistent pattern of seasonal variation in the proximate composition was not normally evident for any species, reflecting the influence of several environmental parameters on the algae. Cladophora contained the greatest amount of phospholipid averaging; 10% by weight of total lipid with the smallest quantity (5%) in Scenedesmus. The predominant phospholipid fatty acid in all species was C18:1 followed by C18:2, C18:3 and C16:1 in Cladophora, Ulothrix and Spirogyra, and C16:1, C18:2 and C16:0 in Scenedesmus and Cosmarium. Oleic (C18:1) and hexadecanoic (C16:1) acids were predominant in the neutral lipids of all the algae, followed by C16:0, C18:2 and C18:3. The concentration of the different fatty acids of each Species varied considerably during the year with the proportion of C16:0 and C16:1, usually rising and that of C18:1 failing during the colder months.  相似文献

Potato late blight disease, which is caused by the fungus Phytophthora infestans, results in considerable loss of potato crop yield worldwide. Developing new bio-agents to control this disease is desirable. Xenocoumacin 1 (Xcn1) is an antibacterial substance from the entomopathogenic nematode symbiotic bacterium, Xenorhabdus nematophila var. pekingensis. In this study, we evaluated the antifungal activity of Xcn1, along with its potential activity against Phytophthora infestans, in vitro and in vivo. The results showed that Xcn1 exhibits strong antifungal activity against five species of Phytophthora, with EC50 values ranging from 0.25 to 4.17 μg/mL. Xcn1 not only inhibited mycelial growth of P. infestans, reaching 100% inhibition at 1.5 μg/mL of Xcn1, but also suppressed sporangia production. Xcn1 also showed potent in vivo activity against P. infestans, with 92.63% and 80.27% in detached plants and potted plants, respectively, in comparison with the control. Therefore, Xcn1 has antibiotic activities against P. infestans both in vitro and in vivo.  相似文献

The monomeric composition of the suberins from 16 species of higher plants was determined by chromatographic methods following depolymerization of the isolated extractive-free cork layers with sodium methoxide-methanol. 1-Alkanols (mainly C18C28), alkanoic (mainly C16C30), α,ω-alkanedioic (mainly C16C24), ω-hydroxyalkanoic (mainly C16C21), dihydroxyhexadecanoic (mainly 10,16-dihydroxy- and 16-dihydroxyhexadecanoic), monohydroxyepoxyalkanoic (9,10-epoxy-18-hydroxyoctadecanoic), trihydroxyalkanoic (9,10, 18-trihydroxyoctadecanoic), epoxyalkanedioic (9,10-epoxyoctadecane-1,18-dioic) and dihydroxyalkanedioic (9,10-dihydroxyoctadecane-1 18-dioic) acids were detected in all species. The suberins differed from one another mainly in the relative proportions of these monomer classes and in the homologue content of their 1-alkanol, alkanoic, α,ω-alkanedioic and ω-hydroxyalkanoic acid fractions. C18 epoxy and vic-diol monomers were major components (32–59%) of half of the suberins examined (Quercus robur, Q. ilex, Q. suber, Fagus sylvatica, Castanea sativa, Betula pendula, Acer griseum, Fraxinus excelsior) where as ω-hydroxyalkanoic and α,ω-alkanedioic acids predominated in those that contained smaller quantities of such polar C18 monomers (Acer pseudoplatanus, Ribes nigrum, Euonymus alatus, Populus tremula, Solanum tuberosum, Sambucus nigra, Laburnum anagyroides, Cupressus leylandii). All species, however, contained substantial amounts (14–55 %) of ω-hydroxyalkanoic acids, the most common homologues being 18:1 (9) and 22: 0. The dominant α,ω-alkanedioic acid homologues were 16: 0 and 18: 1 (9) whereas 22: 0, 24: 0 and 26: 0, and 20: 0, 22: 0 and 24: 0 were usually the principal homologues in the 1-alkanol and alkanoic acid fractions, respectively. The most diagnostic feature of the suberins examined was the presence of monomers greater than C18 in chain length; most of the C16 and C18 monomers identified in the suberins also occur in plant cutins emphasizing the close chemical similarity between the two anatomical groups of lipid biopolymer.  相似文献

A novel Gram-negative, catalase- and oxidase-positive, non-sporulating, rod-shaped, aerobic bacterium, designated strain JSM 078120T, was isolated from sea water collected from a tidal flat of Naozhou Island, South China Sea. Growth occurred with 1–15% (w/v) total salts (optimum, 2–4%), at pH 6.0–10.0 (optimum, pH 7.5) and at 4–35°C (optimum, 25–30°C). The major cellular fatty acids were C18:1 ω9c, C16:0, C12:0 3-OH and C16:1 ω7c. The predominant respiratory quinone was ubiquinone Q-9, and the genomic DNA G + C content was 60.6 mol%. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain JSM 078120T should be assigned to the genus Marinobacter, being related most closely to the type strains of Marinobacter segnicrescens (sequence similarity 98.2%), Marinobacter bryozoorum (97.9%) and Marinobacter gudaonensis (97.6%). The sequence similarities between the novel isolate and the type strains of other recognized Marinobacter species ranged from 96.7 (with Marinobacter salsuginis) to 93.3% (with Marinobacter litoralis). The levels of DNA–DNA relatedness between strain JSM 078120T and the type strains of M. segnicrescens, M. bryozoorum and M. gudaonensis were 25.3, 20.6 and 18.8%, respectively. The combination of phylogenetic analysis, DNA–DNA relatedness, phenotypic characteristics and chemotaxonomic data supported the view that strain JSM 078120T represents a novel species of the genus Marinobacter, for which the name Marinobacter zhanjiangensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is JSM 078120T (= CCTCC AB 208029T = DSM 21077T = KCTC 22280T). The GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain JSM 078120T is FJ425903.  相似文献

Fatty acids (FA) of nine fungal species belonging to the subphylumBasidiomycotina were identified by using capillary GC-MS, MS and HPLC. The identified fatty acids included 45 saturated (iso-, anteiso-, and 19 hydroxy acids) and 42 monoenoic acids (including 14 hydroxy acids); dienes and polyenes were represented by 13 fatty acids. The proportion of hydroxy acids in the total fatty acids in the fungal species ranged from 4.3 to 10.2%. Very long-chain fatty acids (C24-C30) were also determined. Four fatty acids 16:0 (8.8–14.3%), 18:1(11) (3.9–14.9%), 18:1(9) (7.7–19.0%) and 18:2(6) (7.6–19.4%), were found as major acids. Of the identified acids, 17 were detected inBasidiomycotina for the first time.  相似文献

A novel Gram-negative, slightly halophilic, catalase- and oxidase-positive, obligately aerobic bacterium, strain YIM-C248T, was isolated from a sediment sample collected from a salt-lake in the Qaidam Basin in Qinghai, north-west China. Cells were non-sporulating short rods, occurring singly or as doublets, motile with peritrichous flagella. Growth occurred with 1–15% (w/v) NaCl [optimum 2–4% (w/v) NaCl], at pH 6.0–10.0 (optimum pH 7.5) and at 4–35°C (optimum 25–30°C). The major cellular fatty acids were C18:1 ω7c, C12:0 3-OH, cyclo C19:0 ω8c, C16:0 and C16:1. The predominant respiratory quinone was Q-9 and the genomic DNA G + C content was 58.6 mol%. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain YIM-C248T should be assigned to the genus Halomonas. The sequence similarities between the isolate and the type strains of members of the genus Halomonas were in the range of 92.5–97.5%. The combination of phylogenetic analysis, DNA–DNA hybridization data, phenotypic characteristics and chemotaxonomic differences supported the view that strain YIM-C248T represents a new species of the genus Halomonas, for which the name Halomonas sediminis sp. nov. is proposed, with YIM-C248T (=CCTCC AA 207031 = KCTC 22167) as the type strain. The GenBank/EMBL/DBBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain YIM-C248T is EU135707.  相似文献

A Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, motile by means of single polar flagellum, rod-shaped marine bacterium, designated strain E414, was isolated from sea water collected from a farming pond rearing marine shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, PRC. The strain was able to grow in the presence of 0.5–6% (w/v) NaCl (optimally in 3–6% (w/v) NaCl), between pH 6 and 9 (optimally at pH 7–8), between 15 and 37°C (optimally at 25–30°C). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences locate strain E414 in the vicinity of the coralliilyticus clade within the genus Vibrio. DNA–DNA relatedness data and multigene phylogenetic analysis based on the concatenated sequences of four genes (16S rRNA, rpoA, recA and pyrH) clearly differentiated strain E414 from its closest phylogenetic neighbours. Analysis of phenotypic features, including enzyme activities and utilization and fermentation of various carbon sources, further revealed discrimination between strain E414 and phylogenetically related Vibrio species. The major fatty acid components are C16:1ω6c and/or C16:1ω7c (27.4%), C18:1ω7c and/or C18:1ω6c (19.3%) and C16:0 (18.2%). The DNA G+C content of strain E414 was 38.7 mol%. Based on phenotypic, chemotaxonomic, phylogenetic and DNA–DNA relatedness values, it can be concluded that E414 should be placed in the genus Vibrio as representing a novel species, for which the name Vibrio zhanjiangensis sp. nov. is proposed, with the type strain E414 (=CCTCC AB 2011110T = NBRC 108723T = DSM 24901).  相似文献

Two novel strains of budding bacteria, Z-0071T and Z-0072, were isolated from dystrophic humified waters formed by xylotrophic fungi in the course of spruce wood degradation. The cells of both strains are coccoid (0.95–1.80 μm), nonmotile, single or arranged in pairs. The cells have a complex system of intracellular membranes and are covered with fimbriae and surrounded by a mucous capsule up to 0.3 μm thick. Both strains are aerobic organoheterotrophic, mesophilic, and acid-tolerant microorganisms that are able to grow under microaerobic conditions. They utilize N-acetyl-glucosamine, carbohydrates, and lactate as growth substrates. The strains grow in a pH range of 4.0–7.5 with an optimum at 6.0–6.5. The temperature range for growth is 4–30°C, with an optimum at 25–28°C. Strains Z-0071T and Z-0072, inhabitants of dystrophic low-mineral waters, are NaCl-sensitive: the NaCl content in the media above 0.5 g/l inhibited growth. The main fatty acids of strains Z-0071T and Z-0072 are C16:0, C18:1ω9c, and C18:2ω9c, 12c. The DNA G + C base content is 51.2–51.7 mol %. The sequences of the 16S rRNA gene fragments (1310 bp) of strains Z-0071T and Z-0072 were found to be identical. The obtained sequences showed a 94.3% similarity with the sequences of the type strain of the most closely related species Singulisphaera acidiphila MOB10≅T. The phenotypic and phylogenetic properties of strains Z-0071T and Z-0072 support classification of these strains within the genus Singulisphaera as a new species Singulisphaera mucilagenosa sp. nov., with the type strain Z-0071T (VKM B-2626).  相似文献

A moderate halophilic, Gram-negative, non-motile, rod-shape, and aerobe designated as strain HwaT was isolated from traditional fermented Korean seafood, which presented as a single cell or paired cells. Optimal growth occurred at 25°C in 10% (w/v) salts at pH 7.0–8.0; however, growth occurred in a temperature range of 10–32°C, a salts concentration of 5–25% (w/v) and pH 5.0–10.0. Tests for oxidase and catalase were positive. The cells produced poly-β-hydroxybutyric acid, but not exopolysaccharide. Based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence, not only was there low similarity between strain HwaT and all other species (94.1% similarity with H. subglaciescola DSM 4683T, 94.0% similarity with H. sulfidaeris Esulfide1T, 93.6% similarity with H. cerina SP4T and 93.0% similarity with H. halodurans DSM 5160T), but the phylogenetic analysis revealed that the isolate may be classified as a novel species belonging to the genus Halomonas in the class Gammaproteobacteria. The predominant fatty acids of strain HwaT were C18:1 ω7c, C16:0, C12:0 3-OH and C16:1 ω7c/C15:0 iso 2-OH. The DNA G+C content was calculated as 61.7 mol%. Based on phenotypic, genotypic, and phylogenetic characteristics, it is proposed that the strain designated as HwaT be assigned to the genus Halomonas as Halomonas jeotgali sp. nov. (=KCTC 22487T =JCM 15645T).  相似文献

The notothenioid fishes Trematomus pennellii, T. newnesi, and T. bernacchii had 5–15% skeletal lipid, as percent dry weight, and this comprised 6–8% of the total body lipid. Trematomus hansoni and Pagothenia borchgrevinki had 2–4% skeletal lipid, which comprised 1% of total body lipid. Triacylglycerol was the major lipid class present in all tissues of all fish analyzed (up to 89% of total lipid), with minor components including sterol, phospholipid and wax esters. Monounsaturated fatty acids comprised 38.3–58.0% of the total fatty acids, and included primarily oleic [18 : 1(n-9)] and palmitoleic [16 : 1(n-7)] acids. Polyunsaturated fatty acids comprised 19.1–40.0% of the total fatty acids and included primarily eicosapentaenoic acid [20 : 5(n-3)] and docosahexaenoic acid [22 : 6(n-3)]. These five notothenioid fishes, which include benthic, benthopelagic, and cryopelagic species, are lower in lipid than other important Southern Ocean fishes (such as the Patagonian toothfish) and are estimated to be negatively buoyant. These data will be of use to research groups presently using signature lipid methodology. Accepted: 5 April 1999  相似文献
