PERMIAN OSTRACODS FROM THE CHIHSIA LIMESTONE OF LUNGTAN, NANKING

The specimens described in this paper were collected in the spring of 1955 by the writer andher friends from the Lower Permian Chihsia limestone at Kwanshan, Lungtan, about 20 kmsoutheast of Nanking. The ostracods described and illustrated here comprise 37 species in 11genera, of which 29 species are new. The majority of the specimens were found in the middlepart (ca. 138 m. in thickness) of the Chihsia formation. The specimens are more or less     

NOTES ON THE GENUS RETICULITERMES HOLMGREN FROM GUIZHOU PROVINCE,CHINA(ISOPTERA:RHINOTERMITIDAE)

The present paper deals with forteen species of the genus Reticulitermesfrom Guizhou Province collected in 1978—1984.They are summarized in thefollowing key,in which three species are new to scince.All measurements arein millimeters.All the type specimens are kept in the Guangdong EntomologicalInstitute and a part of the para-type specimens separately deposited in theGuizhou Institute of Forestry.     

NINE NEW SPECIES OF THE GENUS EUHAMITERMES FROM CHINA(ISOPTERA:TERMITIDAE)

NEW SPECIES AND SUBSPECIES OF CHINESE PLATYCORYNUS (COLEOPTERA: EUMOLPIDAE)

Three new genera of the family Nesticidae (Arachnida:Araneae) from Tibet and Yunnan,China

Three new genera of the spider family Nesticidae, Hamus gen. nov., Nescina gen. nov. and Wraios gen. nov., are reported. Three new species, Hamus bowoensis sp. nov., Nescina minuta sp. nov. and Wraios longiembolus sp. nov., showing remarkable characters in palpal and epigynal morphology, are described based on specimens collected in Tibet and Yunnan, China. All the type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences(IZCAS) in Beijing.     

ON ALLOPTOX (LAGOMORPHA, OCHOTONIDAE)FROM THE MIDDLE MIOCENE OF TONGXIN, NINGXIA HUI AUTONOMOUS REGION, CHINA

<正> Rather abundant sample of Alloptox, including skulls, maxillae, mandibles and isolated teeth, was collected from the middle Miocene of Tongxin County, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region during the two field seasons in 1985 and 1986, when reconnaissance and geological mapping of the middle Miocene in this region were conducted by a joint party of the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Academia Sinica (IVPP) and the Bureau of Geology, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The specimens came from 18 localities pertaining to 9 levels in a sequence of middle Miocene fluviatile sediments with a thickness of ca. 200m. Except for the specimens assigned to Alloptox sp. from locality Taoziliang, all are recognized as Alloptox gobiensis. The present paper deals with only their dental morphology which is probably phylogenetically significant. Altogether 327 specimens of Alloptox gobiensis and 27 specimens of Alloptox sp. have been described. The text figures are drawn by the authors and Mrs. Yang Mingwan. All teeth are presented as left ones, the abbreviatd word "inv" is used under the figures of right teeth. All specimens are stored in IVPP under the inventory number V8822-V8839. NINE NEW SPECIES OF THE GENUS STYLOTERMES FROM CHINA (Isoptera)

The present paper deals with nineteen species of the genus Styloter mes from China, in which some species are revised. They are summarized in the following key, in which nine species are described as new to science. Stylotermes choui is named in honour of Professor Chou Io, Chief Editor of Entomotaxonomia. All type specimens are kept in Guangdong Institute of Entomology.     

ON SOME NEW SPECIES AND NEW RECORDS OF TYPHLOCYBINAE FROM CHINA (Homoptera: Cicadellidae)

This paper is a report on Typhlocybinae collected and preserved by the Northwestern College of Agriculture. Among the studied specimens there are 18 species described as new to science and 28 species recorded for the first time from China. All type specimens are kept in the collection of that college.     

NOTES ON CHINESE FLEA-BEETLES OF THE GENUS HESPERA WEISE (COLEOPTERA: CHRYSOMELIDAE)

The present paper deals with the Chinese species of the Alticine genus He-spera Weise. Altogether forty-four species are reeorded of which fifteen are desc-ribed as new. The type specimens are kept in the Institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica.     

NEW SPECIES OF GENUS HYGIA UHLER FROM CHINA (HEMIPTERA: COREIDAE)

The present paper reports seven new species of genus Hygia Uhler collected from China, belonging respectively to the subgencra of Hvgia Uhler and Colpura Bcrgroth. The measurements in d(?)eriptions are in millimeters. Type specimens are deposited in the Biology Department of Nankai University except Otherwise mentioned.     

杂斑腹小鸮实为鬼鸮

Based on two specimens collected from Sichuan Province, Yang et al. (1989) described a new subspecies of the spotted little owl (Athene brama), the belly-mottled little owl (Athene brama poikila). This subspecies has been acknowledged by Cheng (2000). However, Cheng (2000) also mentioned that further work should be done on this subspecies. In 2001, we checked the specimen of Athene brama poikila in Ya’an, Sichuan and comparing them with the spotted little owl and the boreal owl (Aegolius funereus). The boreal owl is identifiable from its rather square facial disc, however, this character was destroyed during the facture for these two specimens of Athene brama poikila. That is the reason Yang et al.(1989) missed them with the genus Athene. The genus Aegolius is also identifiable from the genus Athene from the character on the toes, as the toes of the boreal owl are covered with thick feathers, whereas the toes of the little owl are bristled. The toes of these two specimens of Athene brama poikila are thickly feathered, corresponding to the identification of the genus Aegolius. The morphological characters and measurements of the two specimens also correspond to the boreal owl. The habitat of the two specimens was reported as conifer deciduous forest around 2 200 m to 3 100 m, which fits the habitat of the boreal owl. The distribution of the endemic Gansu subspecies of the boreal owl (A. f. beickianus) was reported at Tiantangsi, Lianhuashan in Gansu, Guinan in Qinghai and Jiuzhaigou in Sichuan in China, it was also reported at Lahul in north India, Sun et al. (2001) suggested that it is probably the boreal owl is also distributed in the conifer forest of west Sichuan and east Tibet. The new distribution point in Baoxing and Yajiang in Sichuan corresponds to this conjecture. As a conclusion, we believe that these two specimens should belong to the A. f. beickianus of the boreal owl .     

DESCRIPTION OF THREE NEW GENERA AND THREE NEW SPECIES OF MEMBRACIDAE FROM CHINA (Homoptera: Membracidae)

Three new genera and three new species of Membracidae from China are described in this paper. All type specimens are kept or temporarily kept in the insect collection of the Northwestern College of Agriculture.Tribulocentrus Chou et Yuan, gen. n. (Centrotinae: Centrotini)     

TAXONOMIC STUDIES ON THE SCIARIDAE (PIPTERA: NEMATOCERA)OF GUIZHOU

The family Sciaridae of Guizhou Province contains 10 genera and 57 species, ofwhich 1 genus and 43 species are new to science. The new taxa are described in taxonomickeys. The type specimens are kept in the Insect Collection of Beijing Agricultural Univer-sity. The letters given here are locality abbreviations used in the genus and specics listthat follows.     

STUDIES ON CLASSIFICATION OF THE GENUS MAUR YA FROM CHINA (Homoptera: Membracidae)

In the present paper, the history of the research on classification of the genus Maurya Distant is recalled and 11 species from China belonging to it are noted. Of them, 7 are new to science. Type specimens are kept in the Entomological Museumof Northwestern Agricultural University, expect those whose depositions are noticed.     

FOUR NEW SPECIES OF HALTICHELLINI (HYMENOPTERA: CHALCIDIDAE) FROM CHINA

Two new species of Nipponohockeria Habu (first recorded in China) and two newspecies of Uga Kerrich are described and figured. The type specimens are deposited in the Laboratory of Biological Control, Department of Plant Protection, Zhejiang Agricultur-al University.     

NEW DEVONIAN OSTRACODS FROM HUPEH

The materials which form the subject of the present paper was collected fromthe Upper Devonian Hsiehkingssu formation of Changyang district,W.Hupeh.The majority of the ostracods are more or less ironized,and are usually wellpreserved.The specimens illustrated and described in this paper comprise 15 species in11 genera,of them 4 genera and 11 species are new.The Hsiehkingsuu formation of Changyang district of Hupeh is estimatedabout 30 meters in thickness.The ostracods obtained from the thin-bedded and
