Methods for the control of ovulation with GnRH or the GnRH analog D-Phe6 -LHRH (GnRH-A), were evaluated in gilts and sows as the last step in development of a fixed-time Al protocol. This involved 3 field trials using 2,744 gilts (10 units) and 71,628 sows (33 units). In Trial 1, the GnRH-A (75 microg) was given subsequent to treatment with altrenogest for cycle control or eCG for the stimulation of uniform follicle development in gilts. The release of LH was followed by ovulations which commenced within 36.4 +/- 3.3 hr and were terminated at 39.0 +/- 2.8 hr after administration of GnRH-A. This degree of synchronization of ovulations enabled the use of fixed-time AI. Consequently, subsequent to pretreatment with altrenogest and eCG, in 10 production units 1,285 gilts received 50 microg GnRH-A and 1,459 gilts 500 IU hCG serving as positive controls (Trial 2); all the gilts were inseminated 24 and 42 hr after treatment. Pregnancy rate and piglet index (n of piglets per 100 first inseminations) following GnRH-A vs hCG were 78.8% and 779 vs 74.4% and 728, respectively (P < 0.05). In field trials with first litter gilts and multiparous sows (33 units holding from 250 to 6,000 sows), 1,000 IU eCG was used for estrus control after weaning and 25 microg or 50 microg GnRH-A were given 55 to 58 hours after eCG (n = 19,954 and 20,701) (Trial 3). Sows treated during the same time period with 300 microg GnRH plus 300 IU. hCG (n = 30,973) served as positive controls; all sows were inseminated 24 and 42 hours after treatment. Pregnancy rates for 50 microg GnRH-A, 25 microg GnRH-A and 300 microg GnRH plus 300 IU hCG were 83.0%, 81.7% and 80.7%, and the piglet indices 913, 899 and 880, respectively (P < 0.05). Unit size and parity had significant effects on fertility and productivity. In all studies, results with 50 microg GnRH-A were superior. In year-long studies, highest levels of fertility in response to these treatments were seen from December to May. 相似文献

1. Glycogen, glucose, lactate and glycogen phosphorylase concentrations and the activities of glycogen phosphorylase a and acid 1,4-alpha-glucosidase were measured at various times up to 120 min after death in the liver and skeletal muscle of Wistar and gsd/gsd (phosphorylase b kinase deficient) rats and Wistar rats treated with the acid alpha-glucosidase inhibitor acarbose. 2. In all tissues glycogen was degraded rapidly and was accompanied by an increase in tissue glucose and lactate concentrations and a lowering of tissue pH. In the liver of Wistar and acarbose-treated Wistar rats and in the skeletal muscle of all rats glycogen loss proceeded initially very rapidly before slowing. In the gsd/gsd rat liver glycogenolysis proceeded at a linear rate throughout the incubation period. Over 120 min 60, 20 and 50% of the hepatic glycogen store was degraded in the livers of Wistar, gsd/gsd and acarbose-treated Wistar rats, respectively. All 3 types of rat degraded skeletal muscle glycogen at the same rate and to the same extent (82% degraded over 2 hr). 3. In Wistar rat liver and skeletal muscle glycogen phosphorylase was activated soon after death and the activity of phosphorylase a remained well above the zero-time level at all later time points, even when the rate of glycogenolysis had slowed significantly. Liver and skeletal muscle acid alpha-glucosidase activities were unchanged after death. 4. The decreased rate and extent of hepatic glycogenolysis in both the gsd/gsd and acarbose-treated rats suggests that this process is a combination of phosphorolysis and hydrolysis. 5. Glycogen was purified from Wistar liver and skeletal muscle at various times post mortem and its structure investigated. Fine structural analysis revealed progressive shortening of the outer chains of the glycogen from both tissues, indicative of random, lysosomal hydrolysis. Analysis of molecular weight distributions showed inhomogeneity in the glycogen loss; in both tissues high molecular weight glycogen was preferentially degraded. This material is concentrated in lysosomes of both skeletal muscle and liver. These results are consistent with a role for lysosomal hydrolysis in glycogen degradation. 相似文献

The objective of the present study was to analyse the association between repeat breeding (RB) in gilts/sows and their subsequent reproductive performance as well as the impact of interactions between repeat breeding and factors like parity number, boar breed, season and mating type (MT) on subsequent reproductive performance in Swedish Landrace (L) and Swedish Yorkshire (Y) sows. Data analysed included 7040 sows (3654 L and 3386 Y), farrowing during January 1994 until December 1999 in 11 L and 8 Y nucleus herds. The study was assigned as a cohort design and the aim was to study gilts/sows from their first mating as gilts until mating after third parity. Analysis of variance was applied to continuous data and logistic regression was applied to categorical data. Percentages of litters as a result of repeat breeding in sow parities 1-3 were 6.1, 12.0 and 6.3% for L sows and 6.7, 13.1 and 7.4% for Y sows. For parity 3, the incidence of litters resulting from repeat breeding was significantly higher (P<0.001) in Y than in L sows. The proportion of irregular return to oestrus (>24 days after first mating) was higher (P<0.01) in primiparous sows than in multiparous sows (69% versus 61%). On average, litters resulting from repeat breeding were larger (P<0.001) than litters resulting from non-repeat breeding (NR) (about 0.5 piglets per litter) in both L and Y sows. For Y sows, if the previous litter was a result of repeat breeding, the subsequent reproductive cycle had 2.7% higher RR (P<0.05) and 2.4% lower FR (N.S.) compared with sows that were not repeat bred. The same trend was found in L sows (1.4% higher RR and 1.3% lower FR) but the differences were not significant. Among the sows removed from the herds, about 24% of L and 28% of Y were culled due to reproductive problems (gilts not included). In addition, a number of sows from these nucleus herds were also culled due to low breeding value and poor conformation. 相似文献

The aim of the present study was to retrospectively analyze causes of the variation in age at first mating in Swedish Landrace (L) and Swedish Yorkshire (Y) gilts. Production traits including growth rate from birth to 100kg body weight and backfat thickness at 100kg body weight were also studied. Data analyzed were obtained from 11 L and 11 Y nucleus herds and included gilts born during a 5-year-period from October 1993 until September 1998. The complete data set included information on 14,761 gilts (6997 L and 7764 Y). Traits analyzed included age of gilt at first mating, growth rate and backfat thickness. Seven statistical models were used for analyzing the data. Factors included were gilt breed, birth month, parity number and size of the litter in which the gilt was born as well as their interactions. Compared with Y gilts, L gilts grew faster (571 versus 556 g/day; P<0.001), had a thinner backfat (11.9 versus 12. 3mm; P<0.001) at 100kg body weight and were 12 days younger at first mating (237 versus 249 days; P<0.001). Birth month significantly (P<0.001) influenced age at first mating, growth rate and backfat thickness. Gilts born from smaller litters were mated at younger age than gilts born from larger litters even when age at first mating was adjusted for the effect of growth rate and backfat thickness. Growth rate of the gilts decreased when 'birth litter size' increased. Gilts born from primiparous sows grew slower, had a thinner backfat at 100kg body weight and were older at first mating compared with gilts born from multiparous sows. Gilts with a higher growth rate were younger at first mating than those with a lower growth rate. Gilts with a thicker backfat at 100kg body weight were mated earlier than the thin ones. However, the effect of growth rate on age at first mating was more pronounced in the gilts with a thinner backfat rather than the ones with a thicker backfat. 相似文献

This study was aimed firstly, to examine the ovaries in non-pregnant first served sows and gilts by transcutaneous ultrasonography and secondly, to evaluate the suitability for this procedure to be performed routinely on farms. Two thousand five hundred and twenty-three females on a 1250-sow unit, synchronized with Regumate (gilts only) and/or gonadotropins (sows and gilts) not detected as returned to estrus by daily boar contact prior to scanning were ultrasonographically tested for pregnancy between days 20 and 114 postinsemination (p.i.). Of 256 sows (S) and 130 gilts (G) found to be non-pregnant the ovaries were visualized in 87.1 and 80.0% of them, respectively. Ovarian findings were: corpora lutea (CL); follicles of 2-6mm (F(2-6)); peri-ovulatory ovarian structures (POS; comprising follicles of 7-8mm and corpora haemorrhagica); single cysts (SC); oligocystic ovarian degeneration (OOD) and polycystic ovarian degeneration (POD). Their incidence was: CL>F2-6>POS>POD ( P<0.05 ) in both S and G. POD and SC plus OOD were more frequently in S ( P<0.05 ). The ovarian findings were related to the intervals of regular (days 18-25 p.i. (R1), 38-46 p.i. (R2)) and irregular service returns (days 26-37 p.i. (IR1), 47-114 p.i. (IR2)). Comparison within intervals: CL tended to be more frequently with P<0.05 only at IR2 in S. Comparison among intervals (R1 to IR2): The percentage of females (1) with CL tended to increase (S and G) and (2) with F2-6 plus POS decreased significantly (S; P<0.05 ) or tendentiously (G). SC plus OOD was higher before R2, POD after IR1 (S and G; P<0.05 ). In conclusion, the results indicate a high heterogeneity of ovarian structures in non-pregnant first served sows and gilts up to day 114 after service and suggest CL as an important cause for a delayed and, rather than POD, a failed service return. The results further demonstrate that transcutaneous ultrasonography is an appropriate and recommended method for examining the ovaries on farm in female pigs with reproductive failures. 相似文献

In order to develop a culture system and recipient cytoplasm that could improve the developmental competence of somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) embryos for successful cloning of pigs, we evaluated the effect of donor oocytes and in vitro maturation (IVM) media on maturation of oocytes and developmental competence of SCNT embryos. In Experiment 1, oocytes derived from sows or gilts were matured in two IVM media (TCM-199 versus NCSU-23) and maturation of oocytes was evaluated by the status of chromatin configuration, the diameter of matured oocytes, the thickness of the zona pellucida, and the size of the perivitelline space (PVS). Sow oocytes matured in TCM-199 (S-TCM group) and NCSU-23 (S-NCSU group) showed significantly higher (P<0.05) maturation rates (S-TCM and S-NSCU, 86+/-4 and 82+/-4%, respectively) when evaluated by metaphase-II status than the gilt oocytes matured in TCM-199 (G-TCM group, 71+/-3%) and in NCSU-23 (G-NCSU-23 group, 71+/-3%). Oocyte diameter, the thickness of the zona pellucida, and the perivitelline space of sow oocytes (S-TCM and S-NCSU) were larger than those of gilt oocytes (G-TCM and G-NCSU) after IVM (P<0.05). In Experiment 2, SCNT was performed, using in vitro-matured oocytes from each group as recipient cytoplasm and porcine fetal fibroblasts as karyoplasts. The reconstructed embryos were electrically fused and activated, and cleavage and blastocyst formation were monitored under a stereomicroscope. The total cell number of flattened blastocysts stained with 5 microM bisbenzimide on day 7 were counted. In addition, in vitro matured non-enucleated oocytes were also electrically activated (parthenogenetic activation) and pronuclear formation was monitored. No difference in pronuclear formation rate after parthenogenetic activation and fusion rate after SCNT was observed among experimental groups. A significantly higher cleavage rate (P<0.05) was observed in S-TCM (69+/-4%) when compared with only G-NCSU (58+/-4%), but not with G-TCM (60+/-4%) or S-NCSU (68+/-4%). The rate of blastocyst formation was significantly higher (P<0.05) in sow oocytes (24% in S-TCM and S-NCSU), when compared to that observed in G-TCM (15%), and G-NCSU (14%). When the same source of oocytes was used, there was no significant difference in rate of blastocyst formation in the two culture media. Total cell number of blastocysts were not significantly different among experimental groups. In conclusion, the present study clearly demonstrated that sow oocytes have a greater developmental competence than gilt oocytes, regardless of the maturation medium examined. 相似文献

The present study indicated significant post mortem decreases in length for four Australian teleost species from temperate to tropical habitats: black bream Acanthopagrus butcheri , King George whiting Sillaginodes punctata , summer whiting Sillago ciliata and redthroat emperor Lethrinus miniatus . Shrinkage averaged 5·0 mm after 24 h (range 0–10 mm) for A. butcheri , 4 mm (0–8 mm) for S. punctata , 2·2 mm (0·7–3·7 mm) for S. ciliata and 5·4 mm (−2·5–15·0 mm) for L. miniatus . For A. butcheri held under three different post mortem treatments, the mean length of fish in all treatments decreased but there was no significant effect of treatment type on the extent of shrinkage. The rate of shrinkage of S. ciliata varied with treatment, but the ultimate extent did not. For A. butcheri shrinkage was most rapid (2·5 mm h −1) between 1 and 2 h postcapture. The results from these studies confirm that a post mortem decrease in length is a common phenomenon, even in fishes that are not frozen or preserved. Such shrinkage has implications for the enforcement of minimum legal length legislation, and may cause bias in biological investigations, including growth estimates from tag and recapture studies. 相似文献

The ability of peforelin (l-GnRH-III) to stimulate follicular growth, FSH release, and estrus in gilts after altrenogest treatment and in sows after weaning was investigated. In three farrow-to-wean herds, with at least 600 sows and average production performance, 216 gilts, 335 primiparous, and 1299 pluriparous sows were randomly allocated to three treatments: peforelin (M group: Maprelin), eCG (F group: Folligon), and physiological saline solution (C group). Animals were treated 48 hours after their last altrenogest treatment (gilts) or 24 hours after weaning (sows). The weaning-to-estrus interval, estrus duration, estrus rate (ER), pregnancy rate, and total born (TB), live born, and stillborn (SB) numbers were recorded and compared between treatments for the different parity groups (gilts and primiparous and pluriparous sows). Follicle sizes were measured in representative animals from each group on the occasion of their last altrenogest treatment or at weaning, and also on the occasions of their first (FS1) and second (FS2) attempted inseminations. Blood samples were taken to determine FSH concentrations at weaning and 2 hours after injection, and progesterone concentrations 10 days after the first insemination attempt. The relative change in FSH concentrations was calculated. Significant differences were found for ER within 7 days of weaning in pluriparous sows (95%, 91%, and 90% for the M, F, and C groups, respectively, P = 0.005). Gilts in the F-group had high TB numbers, and pluriparous sows in the M group had high SB numbers (TB gilts = 13.6, 15.4, and 14.9 [P = 0.02] and SB pluriparous sows = 1.8, 1.4, and 1.7 [P = 0.05] for the M, F, and C groups, respectively). The M group had the highest FS1 (for gilts) and FS2 (for pluriparous sows) values: FS1 = 5.4, 4.9, and 4.9 mm [P = 0.02] and FS2 = 6.8, 5.3, and 6.3 mm [P = 0.03] for the M, F, and C groups, respectively. There were no significant differences between the different treatments within each parity group with respect to any of the other variables. Overall, peforelin treatment had small but positive effects on the ER and follicle growth in certain parity groups but did not seem to affect litter sizes or FSH and progesterone levels in sows on the occasions of the corresponding examinations. 相似文献

Thirty Yorkshire boars were allotted by litter to one of two treatment groups. Fifteen boars were reared, from 14 to 22 wk of age, in fenceline contact with mature sows and gilts that were randomly exhibiting estrus. Fifteen littermates of these boars, reared without exposure to females, served as controls. Boar-to-boar sexual behaviors were observed 1 hour daily from 16 to 22 wk of age. At ages 14 to 30 wk, boars were weighed at 4-wk intervals. Five boars per treatment were slaughtered when 22 wk old and twelve others (six per treatment) when 30 wk old. Vesicular gland, bulb of the prostate gland, bulbourethral gland, and each testis, cauda epididymis, and combined caput and corpus epididymis were closely trimmed and weighed. Left cauda epididymal sperm and left testis elongated spermatids were determined by homogenization and hemacytometer counting. At 26, 30, and 38 wk of age, boars were tested for mating efficiency by exposure to an estrous gilt. Boars exposed to females tended to be lighter at 22 wk and were lighter at 30 wk (P<.05). Total male-to-male sexual acts from 16 to 22 wk were correlated with mating-efficiency score at 26 and 30 wk (r = .69 and .68, respectively; (P<.05)). Correlation between testicle size and total testicle elongated spermatids was high at 30 wk of age (r = .92; P<.001). Results indicated that exposing young boars to mature females had limited effects on the boars' reproductive development; however, there were strong indications of a relationship between boar behavior during rearing and postpuberal mating performance. 相似文献

A positive association (P < 0.01) was detected between estrone sulfate (ES) concentrations in maternal plasma at Day 30 of pregnancy and litter size at parturition in swine. This relationship was best described by a fifth order regression equation (R(2) = 0.5) which indicated that as ES increased from 1 to 7.5 ng/ml on Day 30, litter size increased from 0 (nonpregnant) to 18 piglets farrowed. Day of sampling (P < 0.02), month (P < 0.04) and parity (P < 0.08) were major sources of variation in the model. This indicated that effects of environmental factors such as heat stress, which influence conception rate and embryonic survival, are reflected in changes in maternal ES. Also, larger litter size associated with parous sows is reflected in increased ES in maternal plasma. We conclude that measurement of ES early in gestation may be useful in reproductive management to identify nonpregnant gilts and sows as well as those with small litters. 相似文献

The reproductive performance of gilts and sows from two regions in Norway was investigated in a retrospective analysis of data from the litter recording system. In the Northern region (North; between 65°N and 71°N), there are extreme shifts in natural photoperiod between winter and summer. In the Southern region (South; between 59°N and 60°30′N), photoperiodic changes are less dramatic. Gilts were 8 days older at first mating or insemination in the North than in the South (P<0.01). A significantly lower proportion of sows in the North were mated or inseminated within 5 days post-weaning than in the South, a difference present both among primiparous and multiparous sows (P<0.01). Overall farrowing rate in the North was lower than in the South, but litter size (total number born) among those pigs that farrowed was larger. After correction for year, month, breed and age at first service, there were still lower odds of farrowing for gilts in North than in South. Neither for primiparous nor multiparous sows were regional differences in farrowing probability significant when year, month, breed and weaning to service interval were included in the model. Gilts and primiparous sows had a lower probability of farrowing following insemination during summer or autumn months, but service month was not significantly related to the farrowing probability of multiparous sows. For gilts, litter size was positively related to age at first service. For sows, litter size was lowest at weaning to service intervals between 6 and 10 days. Total numbers of piglets born per litter were estimated to be 0.36, 0.38 and 0.55 larger in the North than in the South (differences in least square means; gilts, primiparous sows and multiparous sows, respectively) (P<0.01). Litter size was lower after service during natural long photoperiod than during the rest of the year. 相似文献

A field necropsy was performed on a recently dead adult forest buffalo, Syncerus caffer nanus, found in the Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park, Republic of Congo. Based on the gross and histological lesions, the cause of death was determined to be conspecific fighting. Ectoparasites collected from this forest buffalo were Amblyomma sp. (larvae) and Rhipicephalus ziemanni Neumann. Endoparasites collected included a paramphistomid trematode, Carmyerius gregarius, and oocysts of Eimeria spp., paramphistomid eggs (presumably from C. gregarius), metastrongylid lungworm larvae, and strongylid eggs. Parasitic findings from this forest buffalo were compared to previous reports from savanna and forest buffalo. 相似文献

Progesterone ( P4) plays a key role in pregnancy establishment and maintenance; during early pregnancy, P4 stimulates the production and release of uterine secretions necessary for conceptus growth prior to implantation; therefore, exogenous P4 supplementation may improve embryo development. This study evaluated the effects of supplementation during early pregnancy with long-acting injectable progesterone or altrenogest on embryonic characteristics of sows and gilts. Thus, a total of 32 sows and 16 gilts were used. On day 6 of pregnancy sows and gilts were allocated to one of the following groups: non-supplemented; supplemented with 20 mg of altrenogest, orally, from days 6 to 12 of pregnancy; supplemented with 2.15 mg/kg of long-acting injectable progesterone on day 6 of pregnancy. Animals were killed on day 28 of pregnancy, and ovulation rate, embryo survival, embryo weight, crown-to-rump length, uterine glandular epithelium and endometrial vascularization were assessed. Treatments had no effect on pregnancy rate, embryo survival or endometrial vascular density ( P > 0.05). Non-supplemented gilts presented larger and heavier embryos compared to gilts from supplemented groups ( P < 0.05). Sows in the altrenogest group presented larger and heavier embryos compared to non-supplemented sows and sows supplemented with long-acting injectable progesterone. In conclusion, supplementation of sows and gilts with progestagen from day 6 of pregnancy can be used as a means to improve embryo survival without deleterious effects. 相似文献

Prevalence of renal urolithiasis in a large, captive white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) herd was examined over a two-year period of time. In 1973, 1.3% of 225 deer examined had calculi in the renal pelvis and 4.4% had kidney lesions, either independent or in combination with the calculi. In 1974, prevalence increased and 5.9% of 354 deer had calculi and 6.5% had kidney lesions. Calculi and lesions affected all sex and age-classes. Involvement was both unilateral and bilateral with 23.8% having stones in both kidneys and 30.4% having lesions in both kidneys. Lesions and calculi occurred together in 42.8% of cases. Etiology is unknown, but possible relationships are discussed. 相似文献

Dairy cows (n = 199) were assigned randomly at Day 14 post partum to a control group or a programmed reproductive treatment group (PRT). Cows in the PRT group received 8 ug of GnRH on Days 14 and 50 post partum and 25 mg of PGF2alpha injected on Days 21, 34 and 57 post partum. Cows in the PRT group had a greater frequency of progesterone (P4) concentrations > 1 ng/ml (50% vs 30%; P < 0.01). Frequency of cows having P4 > 1 ng/ml at both Days 21 and 34 post partum was greater in the PRT group than in the control group (39% vs 20%; P < 0.01). Accumulation of days with a palpable cystic ovary was lower in the PRT than the control group (11.4% vs 6.5%; P < 0.05). The frequency of anestrous cows through Day 57 post partum was not different between the 2 groups. Cows that were anestrous had a lower body condition score throughout the postpartum period than the cyclic cows (2.7 vs <3.0; P < 0.01). Conception rate to first service, conception rate to all services, services per conception and days open were not different between the groups. Intensity of estrus detection was low for the study based on a low estrus detection rate (42%) and a low palpation pregnancy rate index (below 68%) throughout the study period. Accuracy of estrus detection was low based on the distribution of normal interestrus intervals for the study (19 to 23 d; 13.5%). It is concluded that programmed reproductive treatments during the postpartum period are functionally effective relative to altered ovarian activity; however, potential advantages to such a system are not evident without good estrus detection practices in a large commercial herd. 相似文献

This study evaluated the effects of altering dose of PG600 on estrus and ovulation responses in prepubertal gilts and weaned sows. Experiment 1 tested the effects of one (1.0x, 400IU eCG+200IU hCG, n=74), one and a half (1.5x, n=82), or two (2.0x, n=71) doses of PG600 for prepubertal gilts. Estrus (58%) and ovulation (90%) were not affected (P>0.10) by dose. Higher doses increased (P<0.01) numbers of corpora lutea (17, 24, and 25), but not (P>0.10) the proportion of gilts with cysts (26, 36, and 46% for 1.0x, 1.5x, and 2.0x, respectively). Experiment 2 tested the effects of 0x (n=30), 0.5x (n=32), 1.0x (n=29), or 1.5x (n=30) doses of PG600 in weaned sows. Dose did not influence return to estrus (90%, P>0.10). There was an effect of dose (P<0.05) on incidence of cysts (3.4, 1.8, 6.4, and 29.8%, for 0x, 0.5x, 1.0x, and 1.5x doses, respectively). The 0.5x dose increased (P<0.01) farrowing rate (83.2%) compared to 0x (72.1%) and 1.5x (58.6%), but was not different from 1.0x (76.4%). Total pigs born (10.5+/-0.8) did not differ (P>0.10) among treatments. These data suggest that increasing dose of PG600 to 1.5x for gilts increases the number of corpora lutea but does not alter the proportion expressing estrus or ovulating. Reducing dose of PG600 for weaned sows did not alter estrus or ovulation, but the 0.5x dose increased farrowing rate compared to no PG600. 相似文献

The objective of the study was to compare three systems for estrus detection and combinations of these systems on a large commercial dairy (1075 lactating cows) during stress of summer heat. At 37-45 days in milk (DIM), 255 cows were fitted with a HeatWatch device (HW; DDx Inc., Denver, CO), an activity sensor ALPRO (ALPRO; DeLaval Inc., Kansas City, MO), and visually observed (VO) three times daily. Pregnancy status was determined by uterine palpation per rectum 35-49 days following artificial insemination (AI). Effects of DIM, parity, standing events, inseminator, and interval between onset of estrus and AI on conception rates were determined using logistic regression. Efficiencies for detection of estrus, determined by comparing detected periods of estrus with a theoretical total of 570 periods, were 49.3% (VO), 37.2% (ALPRO), 48.0% (HW), and 80.2% for all three systems simultaneously. Conception rates (LSM+/-S.E.) for cows detected by one or more of the three systems were 6.2+/-3.9 for VO, 19.8+/-5.6 for ALPRO, 17.3+/-5.0 for HW, 22.8+/-7.0 for VO+ALPRO, 26.9+/-4.6 for VO+HW, 23.2+/-5.2 for ALPRO+HW, and 18.4+/-4.7 for VO+ALPRO+HW. Inseminations performed during no and mild heat stress (temperature-humidity index; THI< or =76) had greater conception rate (P<0.05; 38.8%) compared to AI performed during moderated heat stress conditions (THI>76; 17.6%). Number of mounts were higher for primiparous versus multiparous cows (P<0.05). Cows over 80 DIM during estrus exhibited fewer (P<0.05) standing events. The highest conception rate occurred with the combination of VO+HW, which confirms the premise that combination of multiple systems enhances both the efficiency and accuracy of estrus detection. 相似文献
