This study sought to investigate whether the effects of spa therapy are subject to seasonal variation as suggested by conventional spa therapy research. A total of 268 female (age 31–90 yr) and 119 male (age 35–85 yr) patients with noninflammatory chronic pain were studied. Patients stayed at an Austrian spa for 3 wk and received 2–4 treatments per day, including mudpacks, massages, and exercise therapy. In different groups of patients for 2 yr, pain (self-assessed by questionnaire and Likert scales) and associated variables (mood, fatigue) were measured at the beginning, end, and 6 wk after spa therapy. Data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of covariance controlling for possible group differences between seasons and cosinor analysis. The effect of spa therapy on pain was seasonally dependent; short-term decrease of pain was best between April and June and medium-term decrease of pain was best between October and November, with a second minor peak in fall and spring, respectively. The magnitude of the seasonal variation was greater for back (~30%) than for joint (~20%) pain. Positive mood also improved most between April and June. The observed semi-annual variations of pain do not correspond to the well-known annual change in many physiological and psychological variables. The results suggest that the effects of spa therapy and possibly other related treatments, such as physical and alternative therapies, are subject to seasonal variation.  相似文献

The properties of the circadian photoperiodic oscillator have been investigated in detail only in the Japanese quail. While the study of the quail is clearly very important, one cannot simply assume that other species, especially passerines that seem to have a different circadian organization than quail, function the same way. The current set of experiments was conducted to understand the entrainment and photoinduction of the circadian photoperiodic oscillator in a passerine species, the blackheaded bunting (Emberiza melanocephala). The experimental paradigm used skeleton photoperiods with two light periods, the first called the “entraining light pulse” (E-pulse) and the second called the “inducing light pulse” (I-pulse). Three experiments were performed on photosensitive male birds (N=6-8/group). Experiment 1 investigated the effects of the temporal relationship between E- and I-pulses on photoperiodic induction. Buntings entrained to 8h:16h L:D for 4 wk were released into constant dim light (LLdim, ∼1 lux). Beginning on subjective day 8, they received for 8 wk, E- and I-pulses only at alternate cycles. While I-pulse was 1 h and always began at zt 11.5, E-pulse varied in duration and timing (the 1h E-pulse beginning either at zt 0, zt 5, or zt 9, the 4h one beginning at zt 0 or zt 6, and the 10h one at zt 0; zeitgeber time 0=time of lights-on under 8h:16h L:D prior to release into LLdim). A photoperiodic response was induced only when the E-pulse began at zt 0, and thus the beginning of E- and I-pulses were separated by 11.5 h. Experiment 2 determined whether the duration of the E-pulse influences the position of the photoinducible phase (φi) of the circadian photoperiodic oscillator. Birds were entrained to 1h:23h L:D or 10h:14h L:D for 2 wk, and then exposed to 1h I-pulse at zt 11.5, zt 15, or zt 18.5 for another 8 wk. Photoperiodic induction occurred at all 3 zts in birds entrained to 10 h but only at zt 11.5 in birds entrained to 1 h, which infers the circadian rhythm of photoinducibility (CRP) in buntings was re-entrained when I-pulse fell at zt 15 and after. The last experiment examined the possibility of the re-entrainment of the CRP to light pulses falling at zt 15 and after. Birds received 1h I-pulse for 8 wk at zt 15 following 2 wk of 2.5h:21.5h L:D or 3.5h:20.5h L:D, or at zt 21.5 or zt 22.5 following 2 wk of 10h:14h LD. Photoperiodic induction was consistent with the hypothesis of the re-entrainment of the CRP under these light-dark cycles. The I-pulse appeared to be interpreted as a “new dawn”, and so the photoperiodic induction was determined by the coincidence of φi with the E-pulse. These results suggest a phase-dependent action of light on the circadian oscillator regulating photoperiodic responses in the blackheaded bunting. This could be a useful strategy for a photoperiodic species to regulate its seasonal responses in nature.  相似文献

To explain the complex mechanism of environmental influence along with internal hormonal (factors) milieu on daily variations in the circulating levels of melatonin, testosterone, thyroxine and corticosterone were analyzed with the help of inferential statistics (Cosinor rhythmometry) in a seasonally breeding tropical rodent, F. pennanti during the reproductively active (RAP) and inactive phases (RIP). Plasma melatonin, thyroxine and corticosterone levels exhibited a significant circadian oscillation during both the active and inactive phases of the annual reproductive cycle. Melatonin showed higher amplitude during RIP in the circulating plasma. Testosterone presented a peak level during evening hours (16:00 - 18:00 h) during RAP only. The phase of thyroxine was noted ∼09:76 h and ∼10.35 h during active and inactive phases, respectively. Corticosterone showed a peak level at ∼12.00 h during both phases of the reproductive cycle. Further, in this tropical rodent, the minimum difference in photoperiod (∼3 - 4 hours) and maximum variation in temperature (max. 18°C - min. 10°C during RIP and max. 45°C - min. 32°C during RAP) and humidity (85% during RIP and 35% during RAP) regulated the diurnal rhythm of circulating melatonin circadian rhythm by ∼1 hour phase advance during RIP. In conclusion, the studied hormonal rhythms may be part of an integrative system to coordinate reproduction and physiological processes successfully with environmental factors.  相似文献

In a prospective study, 15,110 childhood traumas were recorded by the Pediatric Surgery Service (CHUV, Lausanne) between January 1, 1990 and December 31, 1997. The exact clock hour when the injury occurred and other germane data were obtained. Time series thus obtained were analyzed by several statistical (ANOVA, cosinor, χ2, Table Curve, etc.) methods. High statistically significant circadian patterns were detected with a trough at night—almost no traumas/hour (t/h), and a peak in the afternoon (∼16:00h)—9.3±0.4 (SD) t/h. Such 24h variation was validated for the whole sample for the entire 8yr study span as well as the data of each year. Neither gender- nor age-related differences in the 24h pattern were detected between children under 5 yr of age, who have not yet attended school and children from 5 to 16 yr of age, who attend school. Small but statistically significant differences in the 24h patterns were observed when categorized by the type of activity associated with the trauma and the place of trauma occurrence. The great stability of the 24h pattern in childhood trauma over the 8yr study span suggests an endogenous origin in addition to the role presumably played by environmental factors. Periods of 12 and 8 h were also detected in the time series. The afternoon peak time of childhood traumas differs from that of adults, which is located ∼04:00h in rotating shift workers and automobile drivers and 06:00-08:00h in adult day-workers. The validation of a circadian pattern in childhood traumas with an afternoon peak should be taken into account in the design of children's preventative injury programs.  相似文献

Five male camels dwelling in the Algerian Sahara were studied for circadian rhythmicity in plasma aldosterone concentration and its seasonal modulation. Blood was sampled at a frequency of 1 h or less for a span of 27 h during each season of the year. The mean plasma aldosterone concentration exhibited a significant circadian rhythmicity in every season of the year. Plasma aldosterone concentration was lowest in the morning, increased in the afternoon, and generally highest in the late evening. The peak of the circadian rhythm exhibited seasonal variation; it occurred at 20:04h in October, 16:41h in December, 20:40h in March, and 24:16h in June. The rhythm's 24h mean also exhibited seasonal variability, being significantly higher in March and June compared to October.  相似文献

Aging disrupted the photic entrainment in old (∼15 years) frugivorous Rousettus leschenaulti bats as natural light - dark (LD) cycles in the field or artificial LD cycles of 12 h of light at 2000 lux and 12 h of complete darkness failed to entrain them (Vanlalnghaka & Joshi 2005; Vanlalnghaka et al. 2005). The results were attributed to the age-related decline in photic sensitivity and/or the period of zeitgeber (T) deviating too much from the free-running period (τ) of bats. In the present study, the old bats were subjected to LD cycles in which the intensity of the photophase was raised to 6000 lux and Ts of 23.2 h and 24.9 h were exactly that of τ in the scotophase of LD cycles and in constant darkness, respectively. These LD cycles also failed to entrain the old bats which unambiguously demonstrates that aging in R. leschenaulti disrupted the integrity of the photic entrainment mechanism.  相似文献

The effects of varying photophase and altitude of origin on the phase angle difference (Ψ) of the circadian rhythm of oviposition during entrainment to light-dark (LD) cycles and the aftereffects of such photophases on the period of the free-running rhythm (τ) in constant darkness (DD) were evaluated in two Himalayan strains of Drosophila ananassae, the high-altitude (HA) strain from Badrinath (5,123 m above sea level=ASL) and the low-altitude (LA) strain from Firozpur (179 m ASL). The Ψ (i.e., the hours from lights-on of the LD cycle to oviposition median) of both strains was determined in LD cycles in which the photophase at 100 lux varied from 6 to 18 h/24 h. The HA strain was entrained by all LD cycles except the one with 6 h photophase in which it was weakly rhythmic, but the LA strain was entrained by only three LD cycles with photophases of 10, 12, and 14 h, but photophases of 6, 8, 16, and 18 h rendered it arrhythmic. Lights-off transition of LD cycles was the phase-determining signal for both strains as oviposition medians of the HA strain occurred∼6 h prior to lights-off, while those of the LA strain occurred∼1 h after lights-off. The Ψ of the HA strain increased from∼2 h in 8 h photophase to∼11 h in 18 h photophase, while that of the LA strain increased from∼11 h in 10 h photophase to∼15 h in 14 h photophase. The aftereffects of photophase of the prior entraining LD cycles on τ in DD were determined by transferring flies from LD cycles to DD. The τ of the HA strain increased from∼19 to∼25 h when transferred to DD from LD 8:16 and LD 18:6 cycles, respectively, whereas the τ of the LA strain increased from∼26 to∼28 h when transferred to DD from LD 10:14 and LD 14:10 cycles, respectively. Thus, these results demonstrate that the photophases of entraining LD cycles and the altitude of origin affected several parameters of entrainment and the period of the free-running rhythm of these strains.  相似文献

A modern analogue technique is applied to two high-resolution pollen sequences from NW Romania to provide the first quantitative evidence for winter, summer and annual temperatures and for precipitation across the Holocene in this region.

The pollen-based climate reconstructions allow the identification of four main intervals: i) an early, less stable period between 11,700 and 11,200 cal. yr BP; (ii) generally stable conditions between 11,200 and 8300 cal. yr BP with winter and annual temperatures and precipitation higher than at present, and summer temperatures about the same; (iii) lower winter and annual temperatures, and higher summer temperatures and precipitation between 8000 and 2400 cal. yr BP; (iv) warmer winter and annual temperatures and lower precipitation for the last 2400 years, whereas summer temperatures became cooler at Steregoiu and remained stable at Preluca Tiganului.

The pollen-based climate reconstructions at the two sites show similar patterns in annual and winter temperatures and precipitation changes during the Holocene, but the trends appear to be less consistent for summer temperatures.

Our pollen-based reconstructions revealed several short-term climatic oscillations during the Holocene, the strongest of which occur between 10,300–10,100, 8300–8000, 6800–6400, 5100–4900, 4000–3600 and 3200–3000 cal. yr BP.  相似文献

This study aimed to investigate and compare variation of renal rhodanese activity at 2nd, 4th and 8th weeks of post-natal development (PND) in mice. The enzyme activity increased with age and was higher in females compared to males in all studied groups. Cosinor analysis revealed significant circadian rhythms (with period τ = 24 h) of enzyme activity in both genders with peak time shift during the PND. At the 2nd week of PND (pre-weaning time), the circadian rhythm peaked at the beginning of light span, more precisely ≅1 HALO (Hours After Light Onset). A week after weaning (4th week of PND), the peak time was located at the second half of photophase (≅9 HALO) in both genders. Four to six weeks later, about the 8th week of PND, the circadian peak time was then recorded at ≅13 HALO. These findings suggest that rhodanese level and rhythm stabilization were age-dependent. Moreover, gender-related differences may stimulate discussions on the relationship between renal rhodanese and cyanide sensitivity.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate how mood, work time, light exposure, activity, and sleep indices are affected by the differences of latitude and season in healthy volunteers. Twenty-four subjects (38.92±11.32 yrs) in Rochester, Minnesota, USA (latitude 44°1'N) and 30 subjects (47.03±16.32 yrs) in San Diego, California, USA (latitude 32°43'N) completed a 1 yr protocol measuring daily logs including daily work time and sleep diary; the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D); the eight-item atypical subscore of the Structured Interview Guide for the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale, Seasonal Affective Disorder version (SIGH-SAD); and actigraphic measures of light exposure and sleep for one-week in each solstice of summer and winter. Higher scores of CES-D (p=0.038) and the eight-item atypical subscore of SIGH-SAD (p=0.009), and longer indoor (p=0.001) and shorter outdoor (p=0.002) work times were observed during winter than summer only in Rochester, with no differences in San Diego. The mesor of light was decreased in both Rochester (p≤0.001) and San Diego (p=0.004) during winter compared to summer, with no differences in the mesors (24 h means) of activity and sleep. The eight-item atypical subscore of SIGH-SAD was significantly negatively correlated with the mesor of light (p=0.034). Sleep indices showed no significant differences between two locales or two seasons. A more prominent depressive mood in Rochester than San Diego during winter can be explained by decreased light exposure of healthy subjects in Rochester. Despite a significant difference of mood and light exposure between the two seasons in Rochester, there were no differences in activity or sleep. Therefore, mood might be more reactive than activity and sleep in the seasonal variation induced by differential light exposure.  相似文献

The risk of acute aortic dissection (AAD) exhibits chronobiological variations with peak onset in the morning and in winter. However, it is not known whether the time of day or season of the year of the AAD affects clinical outcomes. We studied 1,032 patients enrolled in the International Registry of Acute Aortic Dissection from January 1997 to December 2001. For circadian and seasonal analysis, the time and date of symptom onset were available for 741 and 1,007 patients, respectively, and were grouped into four 6 h periods (morning, afternoon, evening, and night) and four seasons (winter, spring, summer, and autumn). The χ2 test for goodness of fit was used to evaluate non-uniformity of the time of day and time of year for critical in-hospital clinical events, including death. While highest incidence of AAD occurred in the morning and winter, clinical events (including mortality) were similar during the four different periods of the 24 h (χ2=1.9, p=0.60) and seasonal (χ2=1.2, p=0.75) periods.  相似文献

Osler disease is an autosomal dominant disorder of the fibrovascular tissue characterized by arteriovenous malformations with multi-systemic haemorrhages. Recurrent epistaxis is the predominant symptom in more than 90% of patients. Recent studies showed circadian and seasonal patterns in the onset of nosebleeds, similar to acute cardiovascular events, such as myocardial infarction and stroke. The aim of this study was to determine whether such patterns would also apply to the onset of epistaxis in patients with Osler disease. In all, 110 patients with Osler disease who were under treatment for recurrent epistaxis at the University Hospital of Mannheim were requested to complete a questionnaire addressing the intensity and frequency of epistaxis according to the classification of Bergler et al., as well as circadian and circannual rhythmicity in the occurrence of epistaxis according to visual analogue scales (VAS). More than half of the patients claimed to experience daily to weekly episodes of recurrent epistaxis. The occurrence of epistaxis showed a biphasic 24 h pattern, with a primary peak in the morning (05:00-8:00 h) and smaller secondary peaks in the evening (17:00-20:00 h and 21:00-00:00 h). No significant seasonal variation was found in the onset of epistaxis. However, a slight tendency, with a peak in winter months, was observed. Similar to other chronobiological studies on nosebleeds, this study showed that the 24 h pattern and seasonal tendency in the onset of epistaxis even applied to patients with Osler disease. Further investigations are necessary to determine the pathological mechanism underlying this phenomenon.  相似文献

Circadian rhythms of DNA synthesis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) occurs frequently in southern China. The circadian rhythm of DNA synthesis of a poorly differentiated NPC human cell line (CNE2) was investigated as an experimental prerequisite for designing chrono-chemotherapy schedules for patients with this disease. Twenty-two nude mice with BALB/c background were synchronized alternatively in 12 h of light and 12 h of darkness (LD12:12) for at least 3 wk prior to the transplantation of a CNE2 tumor fragment into each flank (area of ∼2×2 mm2). Ten days later, a tumor sample (area of ∼5 mm2) was obtained at 3, 9, 15, and 21 h after light onset (HALO) alternatively from different sites in each mouse. Single-cell suspensions were prepared and stained with propidium iodide. Cellular DNA content was measured with flow cytometry. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and cosinor methods. The average proportion of tumor cells in G1, S or G2-M phase varied according to circadian time with statistical significance. The maximum occurred at 9 HALO for G1, 2 HALO for S and 21 HALO for G2-M phase cells. The approximate average distribution patterns of G1 and G2-M phases of cosine curve was 24 h. This was not the case for S-phase cells, which displayed a bimodal temporal pattern. Inter-individual variability in peak time was large, possibly due to relatively sparse sampling time. Nevertheless, no more than 6% of the time series displayed a maximum at 3 HALO for G1, 21 HALO for S and 15 HALO for G2-M. The cell cycle distribution of this human NPC cell line displayed circadian regulation following implantation into nude mice. The mechanisms involved in this rhythm and its relevance to the chrono-chemotherapy of patients deserve further investigation.  相似文献

The efficacy of a light/darkness intervention designed to promote circadian adaptation to night shift work was tested in this combined field and laboratory study. Six full-time night shift workers (mean age ± SD:37.1 ± 8.1 yrs) were provided an intervention consisting of an intermittent exposure to full-spectrum bright white light (∼2000 lux) in the first 6 h of their 8 h shift, shielding from morning light by tinted lenses (neutral gray density, 15% visual light transmission), and regular sleep/darkness episodes in darkened quarters beginning 2 h after the end of each shift. Five control group workers (41.1 ± 9.9 yrs) were observed in the presence of a regular sleep/darkness schedule only. Constant routines (CR) performed before and after a sequence of ∼12 night shifts over 3 weeks revealed that treatment group workers displayed significant shifts in the time of peak cortisol expression and realignment of the rhythm with the night-oriented schedule. Smaller phase shifts, suggesting an incomplete adaptation to the shift work schedule, were observed in the control group. Our observations support the careful control of the pattern of light and darkness exposure for the adaptation of physiological rhythms to night shift work.  相似文献

The purpose of the study was to examine validity of R. Thayer's activation model regarding 24 h variations of two subjective dimensions of activation (Energy and Tension), and their 24 h relations with indices of physiological activation and performance efficiency. The participants of the study (n = 28 females) spent 26 h under controlled laboratory conditions. Self-ratings of subjective activation and measurements of oral temperature, electrodermal activity, and performance on a visual vigilance task were done every 4 h. Twenty-four-hour variations were examined by means of repeated measures analyses of variance and by group mean cosinor analyses before and after controlling for the data trends. Self-ratings on both dimensions of subjective activation showed significant 24 h variation. Energy showed both nonrhythmic and endogenously determined circadian variation, while 24 h variation of tension was dominantly nonrhythmic and most probably determined by exogenous factors. Significant 24 h covariation was found between energy and body temperature. A negative correlation between 24 h variation of energy and tension was also found. Considering low and intermediate levels of subjective activation established over the 24 h in this study, the association of the two dimensions of subjective activation did not prove to be consistent with the assumptions of Thayer's model.  相似文献

The effects of vinorelbine (VRL) on the circadian rhythms in body temperature and locomotor activity were investigated in unrestrained B6D2F1 mice implanted with radio-telemetry transmitters. A single intravenous VRL dose (24 or 12 mg/kg) was given at 7 h after light onset (HALO), a time of high VRL toxicity, and resulted in transient suppression of temperature and activity circadian rhythms in mice kept in light-dark (LD) 12h:12h. Such suppression was dose-dependent. It occurred within 1-5 d after VRL dosing. Recovery of both rhythms was partially complete within 5 d following the high dose and within 2 or 3 d after the low dose and was not influenced by suppression of photoperiodic synchronization by housing in continuous darkness. Moreover, VRL induced a dose-dependent relative decrease in amplitude and phase shift of the temperature circadian rhythm. The mesor and amplitude of the activity rhythm were markedly reduced following the VRL administration. The relevance of VRL dosing time was studied in mice housed in LD 12h:12h. Vinorelbine was injected weekly (20 mg/kg/injection) for 3 wk at 6 or 18 HALO. Vinorelbine treatment ablated the rest-activity and temperature rhythms 3-6 d after each dose, with fewer alterations after VRL dosing at 18 HALO compared to 6 HALO, especially for the body temperature rhythm. There was at least partial recovery 1 wk after dosing, suggesting the weekly schedule of drug treatment is acceptable for therapeutic purposes. Our findings demonstrate that VRL can transiently, yet profoundly, alter circadian clock function. Vinorelbine-induced circadian dysfunction may contribute to the toxicokinetics of this and possibly other anticancer drugs.  相似文献

Aromatherapy is an anecdotal method for modifying sleep and mood. However, whether olfactory exposure to essential oils affects night-time objective sleep remains untested. Previous studies also demonstrate superior olfactory abilities in women. Therefore, this study investigated the effects of an olfactory stimulus on subsequent sleep and assessed gender differences in such effects. Thirty-one young healthy sleepers (16 men and 15 women, aged 18 to 30 yr, mean±SD, 20.5±2.4 yr) completed 3 consecutive overnight sessions in a sleep laboratory: one adaptation, one stimulus, and one control night (the latter 2 nights in counterbalanced order). Subjects received an intermittent presentation (first 2 min of each 10 min interval) of an olfactory (lavender oil) or a control (distilled water) stimulus between 23:10 and 23:40 h. Standard polysomnographic sleep and self-rated sleepiness and mood data were collected. Lavender increased the percentage of deep or slow-wave sleep (SWS) in men and women. All subjects reported higher vigor the morning after lavender exposure, corroborating the restorative SWS increase. Lavender also increased stage 2 (light) sleep, and decreased rapid-eye movement (REM) sleep and the amount of time to reach wake after first falling asleep (wake after sleep onset latency) in women, with opposite effects in men. Thus, lavender serves as a mild sedative and has practical applications as a novel, nonphotic method for promoting deep sleep in young men and women and for producing gender-dependent sleep effects.  相似文献

In fluctuating environmental temperature, homeotherms are able to maintain stable their body temperature, which however reveals a rhythmic daily pattern as described in literature. Because of the importance of body temperature rhythmicity in the knowledge of thermal homeostasis and as a means to facilitate the study of biological rhythmicity in general, the aim of our study was to assess the influence of two different ambient temperature on the daily rhythmicity of body and auricle temperature in goat (Capra hircus). For our study 6 female adult Maltese goats (18 month old), not pregnant and clinically healthy were used. On each subject body and auricle temperature was recorded during two different periods, of 7 days each, every 3 hours for 24 hours from 07.00 to 04.00, at different environmental temperature (1st period 18.25 ± 1.48°C, 2nd period 28.25 ± 2.05°C). The analysis of the obtained result under two ambient temperature indicates the existence of a daily periodicity, with small differences in amplitude and acrophase between the two studied period, both in body and auricle temperature in Maltese breed goat so we can assume that environmental temperature can influence in a significant way the daily pattern of body and auricle temperature.  相似文献

The 24 h profiles of plasma hormone concentrations are rhythmic. The circadian period (τ) changes in development, with seasons, and in women with different stages of the menstrual cycle. It is known that the rhythms of prolactin and cortisol are sensitive to environmental time cues, such as changes in day length and phase; however, the importance of these changes is not yet understood. This study investigates whether there is a relation between the ability of a subject to respond to external cues that are associated with seasonal changes causing alteration of the rhythm's periods in cortisol and prolactin and the epidemiologically determined susceptibility to breast cancer. It is shown that the rhythmic output pattern of prolactin and cortisol in vivo is generated by more than one oscillator and structured by more than one rhythmic component. Each cohort of American women, classified on an epidemiologic basis as high risk (HR) or low risk (LR) to develop breast cancer, expresses different rhythmic output patterns of both variables, suggesting that the genetic background as defined by the risk state is related to differences in the circadian time structure, including the ability of the subject to change the rhythm's τ. The LR cohort exhibited a statistically significant change between seasons in the rhythm's τ of both the prolactin and cortisol patterns. In contrast, the HR cohort showed no change in the rhythm's τ between seasons for prolactin and cortisol patterns. These results show that in human beings, the presence of a circannual rhythm in the circadian time structure or the ability to adapt the circadian rhythmic pattern of these variables to external cues, such as seasons, is related to the partly genetically determined risk state to develop breast cancer and may be of importance for human health.  相似文献

Parameters of oviposition rhythm of Drosophila ananassae strains originating from the equator, 0°N to 22.29°N were variable and latitude dependent. Phase angle difference (Ψ), amplitude of rhythm (R) and the percent oviposition in photophase (POP) were determined in LD 12:12 cycles. Although the R did not vary, the Ψ and POP varied by ∼5 h and 60, respectively. Ψ was positively correlated while the POP was negatively correlated with latitude. Transfers from LD 12:12 cycles to constant darkness initiated free-running rhythms in all strains. Although the R did not vary, the τ varied by ∼3.5 h which was positively correlated with latitude.  相似文献
