从1979年12月起,中国科学院古脊椎动物与古人类研究所、自贡市盐业历史博物馆、重庆市博物馆,在四川省石油局川西南汽矿综合队的协助下,在自贡市郊大山铺发掘了一处恐龙化石埋藏层。化石埋藏于一大的砂岩透镜体中,透镜体暴露的长度近40米,宽约12米,厚度最大处达4米。含化石层可分4层,化石密集,保存较完好,这是一个罕见的恐龙化石埋藏体。1972年,该化石产地即由国家地质总局第七普查大队发现,并报告了中国科学院古脊椎动物与古人类研究所。1977年进行了试掘,采获一条大型的原始蜥脚类恐龙,该恐龙化石被命名为蜀龙(Shunosaurus),  相似文献

研究了发现于四川省自贡市距著名的大山铺恐龙化石坑0.5~3km处的几株化石木。它们的地质时代与大山铺恐龙动物群相同,地层层位大致相当,属于中侏罗世的下沙溪庙组和新田沟组。根据解剖结构特征,确定它们属于原始的松柏类植物———南洋杉型木属中的一个新种,命名为自贡南洋杉型木新种(AraucarioxylonzigongensisDuansp.nov.)。化石木的发现对探讨恐龙的生活环境有重要的意义。  相似文献

Background

The origin of sauropod dinosaurs is one of the major landmarks of dinosaur evolution but is still poorly understood. This drastic transformation involved major skeletal modifications, including a shift from the small and gracile condition of primitive sauropodomorphs to the gigantic and quadrupedal condition of sauropods. Recent findings in the Late Triassic–Early Jurassic of Gondwana provide critical evidence to understand the origin and early evolution of sauropods.

Methodology/Principal Findings

A new sauropodomorph dinosaur, Leonerasaurus taquetrensis gen. et sp. nov., is described from the Las Leoneras Formation of Central Patagonia (Argentina). The new taxon is diagnosed by the presence of anterior unserrated teeth with a low spoon-shaped crown, amphicoelous and acamerate vertebral centra, four sacral vertebrae, and humeral deltopectoral crest low and medially deflected along its distal half. The phylogenetic analysis depicts Leonerasaurus as one of the closest outgroups of Sauropoda, being the sister taxon of a clade of large bodied taxa composed of Melanorosaurus and Sauropoda.

Conclusions/Significance

The dental and postcranial anatomy of Leonerasaurus supports its close affinities with basal sauropods. Despite the small size and plesiomorphic skeletal anatomy of Leonerasaurus, the four vertebrae that compose its sacrum resemble that of the large-bodied primitive sauropods. This shows that the appearance of the sauropod-type of sacrum predated the marked increase in body size that characterizes the origins of sauropods, rejecting a causal explanation and evolutionary linkage between this sacral configuration and body size. Alternative phylogenetic placements of Leonerasaurus as a basal anchisaurian imply a convergent acquisition of the sauropod-type sacrum in the new small-bodied taxon, also rejecting an evolutionary dependence of sacral configuration and body size in sauropodomorphs. This and other recent discoveries are showing that the characteristic sauropod body plan evolved gradually, with a step-wise pattern of character appearance.  相似文献

A new primitive protozoan Asterocaelum algophilum gen. et sp. nov., is described from the plankton of Loch Leven, Scotland where it was found primarily feeding on the centric diatoms Stephanodiscus rotula (Kütz) Hendey and Cyclotella pseudostelligera Hustedt. Stages in its life cycle consist of a trophic amoeba, a cyst from which the protoplasm emerges as one or several units similar to the amoeboid stage and a resting cyst containing a double walled resting spore. The amoeboid stage produces numerous clear hyaline pseudopodia which are often broad based and taper apically and within which a core of denser material, possibly an axial filament, is sometimes seen. The cyst and resting cyst stages externally bear long tapering empty spines formed by the laying down of a wall and subsequent emptying of the protoplasm from a number of rather stiff radiating processes produced by the amoeboid stage. All external surfaces are surrounded by an envelope of mucilage and the walls laid down by this organism give a positive reaction for cellulose. The similarity of its life cycle to that of the vampyrellids is noted.  相似文献

Anterior dorsal ventricular ridge (ADVR) is a major subcortical, telencephalic nucleus in snakes. Its structure was studied in Nissl, Golgi, and electron microscopic preparations in several species of snakes. Neurons in ADVR form a homogeneous population. They have large nuclei, scattered cisternae of rough endoplasmic reticulum in their cytoplasm, and bear dendrites from all portions of their somata. The dendrites have a moderate covering of pedunculated spines. Clusters of two to five cells with touching somata can be seen in Nissl, Golgi, and electron microscopic preparations. The area of apposition may contain a series of specialized junctions which resemble gap junctions. Three populations of axons can be identified in rapid Golgi preparations of snake ADVR. Type 1 axons course from the lateral forebrain bundle and bear small varicosities about 1 mu long. Type 2 axons arise from ADVR neurons and bear large varicosities about 5 mu long. The origin of the very thin type 3 axons is not known; they bear small varicosities about 1 mu long. The majority of axon terminals in ADVR are small (1 mu to 2 mu long), contain round synaptic vesicles, and form asymmetric active zones. This type of axon terminates on dendritic spines and shafts and on somata. A small percentage of terminals are large, 5 mu in length, contain round synaptic vesicles, and form asymmetric active zones. This type of axon terminates only on dendritic spines. Cypripedium subtropicum S. C. Chen et K. Y. Lang is a phytogeographycally significant new species with its habit, inflorescence and column very similar to those of Selenipedilum of tropical America. It is found in Mêdog of southeastern Xizang, China. Its slender leafy stem bears at the summit a many-flowered raceme, amounting to 1.5 m in height. Although its ovary is unilocular—this is the reason why we place it in Cypripedium, the column characters resemble those of Selenipedilum. For example, the staminode is rather small and its long stalk is very similar in texture and color to the filament of the fertile stamens. Obviously, it is a primitive new species related to Selenipedilum based on the similarities mentioned above. In the subfamily Cypripedioideae, as generally recognized, Selenipedilum is the most primitive genus, from which or whose allies Cypripedium is derived. Of phytogeographical significance is the fact that Selenipedilum occurs in Central America and northern South America, while a cypripedium akin to it is discontinuously distributed in subtropical Asia. This suggests that Selenipedilum or Selenipedilum-like form be once continually distributed in North America and eastern Asia when the climate there was warmer, as it is in the subtropics today. The floristic relationship between Central America and subtropical Asia appears to be closer than expected, as shown by the distribution patterns of Tropidia, Erythrodes, etc. Based on the occurrence of all six sections and particularly the most primitive form in eastern Asia, Cypripedium seems to be of Asian, rather than Central American, origin. Selenipedilum possesses some very primitive characters, such as trilocular ovary, vanilla-scented fruit, seed with sclerotic testa, simple column and more or less suffrutescent habit. The latter is considered by Dahlgren & Clifford (1982) to be one of ancestral characters of monocotyledons, which is now very rare not only in Orchidaceae but also in all monocotyledons. It is indeed necessary to make further investigations on Selenipedilum and also the new species pub-lished here, as well as a detailed comparison between them.  相似文献
