The morphology of gonads and development of offspring of the scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis sampled from six stations in Peter the Great Bay (Sea of Japan) were studied. The retardation of gametogenesis, oocytes resorption, autolysis of spermatozoa and their phagocytosis were observed in the gonads of the scallops from polluted sites. The number of hermaphrodites was about 6% against 0.3–0.4% in the scallop populations from clean areas. In the offspring development, a decrease in fertilisation success, diminution in percent of normal trochophores, D-veligers, veligers, and retardation of larval growth were recorded. The scallop populations inhabiting polluted areas of Peter the Great Bay seem to be incapable of normal reproduction. Development of offspring was a more sensitive index of disturbance of the reproductive function than morphology of scallop gonads. Analysis of the offspring development of common species of marine invertebrates is suggested to be used as a sensitive indicator of adverse environmental conditions. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Mycological investigation of the Japanese scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis (Jay) (Bivalvia) from different areas of the Peter the Great Bay (Sea of Japan) was conducted. Isolates from internal organs of M. yessoensis scallop comprise 72 species of filamentous fungi from 30 genera of ascomycetes, anamorphic fungi, and zygomycetes. Species richness of filamentous fungi—fungi of the genera Aspergillus, Penicillium, Cladosporium, and Chaetomium—in the internal organs of bivalve mollusks increases in polluted coastal waters.  相似文献

The taxonomic composition of marine mycelial fungi was determined in the interstitial habitats of the Vostok Bay littoral (Peter the Great Bay, the Sea of Japan). A total of 39 species of ascomycetes and anamorphic fungi were detected and identified. The predominant species of the intertidal zone were Corollospora maritima, C. lacera, Carbosphaerella leptosphaerioides, Arenariomyces trifurcatus (Ascomycota), Alternaria alternata, Scolecobasidium arenarium, and Zalerion maritimum (anamorphic fungi). The complete list of species of obligately marine ascomycetes and anamorphic fungi from the interstitial habitats of the Vostok Bay littoral is presented for the first time  相似文献

Ten novel microsatellite loci were isolated from giant scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis, and the polymorphisms were examined to estimate genetic variability. The genetic variabilities varied depending on the locus. The number of alleles ranged from two to 17, and the observed and expected heterozygosities ranged from 0.17 to 0.99 and 0.33 to 0.90, respectively. Six loci showed significant Hardy–Weinberg disequilibrium. The high variabilities revealed in this study suggest that microsatellites should prove useful for various genetic investigations.  相似文献

The composition and structure of the epibiotic flora of the Japanese scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis were studied on the basis of data from long-term (1979 to 2007) observations on the scallop beds in Peter the Great Bay (Sea of Japan). In all, 52 species of macroalgae belonging to three phyla were found on the scallop shells; 3 species were new records for the benthic flora of the area studied. Red algae constituted the bulk of the species richness of algal epibionts; brown algae were represented by the lowest number of species. Species of Chlorophyta predominated in terms of biomass; species of Rhodophyta were found in lower numbers. The main form of the thallus of epibiotic algae was bushy or filamentous. The ratio of common to rare species was 30 : 70. As compared to the benthic flora, the epibiotic flora on the scallop shells was characterized by a greater number of warm-water species.  相似文献

Based on our data, 76 species of fish from 57 genera and 19 families are found in the mesobenthal of Peter the Great Bay. At depths greater than 200 m in the open part of the bay, no less than five species occur that are lacking closer to the coast; twenty species are capable of descending to a larger depth than was previously assumed. The species composition of fish in the mesobenthal is impoverished during the period of the hydrological summer and is considerably enriched in the cold time of the year, which is related to the wintering migrations of many species from shelf waters to the continental slope. Mass, common, and rare, as well as permanently occurring fish are determined for each hydrological season. The lowest fish biomass is observed in the warm time of the year, and the highest in winter and spring. Specific features of the spatial and temporal variation in the composition of mass fish in the mesobenthal are shown.  相似文献

Nemertean pilidia belonging to the groups magnum, pyramidale, gyrans, recurvatum, and auriculatumwere found in Peter the Great Bay. Pilidium auriculatumis probably a little-known ribbon worm of the family Hubrechtiidae, which has never before been found in the Sea of Japan. Larvae of two species of the order Archinemertea were also found.  相似文献

The livers of six flatfish species from Sivuch'ya Bight were examined histologically for the presence of neoplastic lesions. Out of 120 fish studied, hepatic tumors were found in two individuals: the black plaice Pleuronectes obscurusand the longsnout flounderPleuronectes punctatissimus.Based on presence of tissue and cellular atypism, tumor pearls surrounded by squamous cells, and absence of mucous secretion, the neoplasm in P. punctatissimuswas classified as squamous cell carcinoma. Abnormal growth of fibrous stroma suggests a scirrhous variant of carcinoma. Tumor in P. obscuruswas classified as a hepatocellular adenoma. This is the first information on liver tumors in flatfishes of Sivuch'ya Bight.  相似文献

The distribution patterns, size, age structure, and growth of the scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis were studied in the northwest of the Tatar Strait, Sea of Japan. We determined that the northern boundary of the species range occurred in the region of Tabo Bay, at 51°37?? N. The distribution of the mollusk, depending on latitude, depth, substrate, and age, was determined. The maximum depth of M. yessoensis habitat is 138 meters, the maximum shell height is 200 mm, and the maximum age is 14 years. The differences in the growth rate of the Japanese scallop in different areas are discussed in relation to the conditions of its habitat in the northern part of its range.  相似文献

The results of an integrated examination of the state of the scallopMizuhopecten yessoensis in Alekseeva Bight (Peter the Great Bay, Sea of Japan) are presented. In mollusks of different ages, shell height was measured; in animals of commercial size (over 100 mm), some size and weight characteristics (annual increment of shell and adductor muscle and soft tissue weight) were determined. The morphology of the digestive gland and gills was studied. In the adductor muscle and digestive gland, the concentration of heavy metals (HMs) (Hg, Cu, Zn, Mn, Pb, Cd, Ni, Co, and Cr) was determined. In the digestive gland, metallothionein and reduced glutathione concentration was also determined, as was the activity of glutathione-dependent enzymes (glutathione peroxidase and glutathione reductase). In scallops collected outside Alekseeva Bight, the linear growth rate and adductor muscle weight were on average 1.3 and 1.7 times greater, respectively, than in those collected in the bight. In scallop organs, numerous histomorphological alterations were revealed: digestive cell vacuolization and hemocyte infiltration of the digestive gland, hyperplasia and vacuolization of the respiratory epithelium, and connective tissue hypertrophy in gill filaments. The biochemical parameters of scallops from Alekseeva Bight differed substantially from those of mollusks collected outside the bight. We conclude that one of the factors negatively affecting the state of theM. yessoensis population in Alekseeva Bight is the contamination of the bight with HMs, especially mercury. This is consistent with the results of chemical analysis of bottom sediments and tissues of two mytilid species,Modiolus kurilensis andCrenomytilus grayanus, specimens of which were collected in the bight together with the scallops [3].  相似文献
