Population variability ofOphrys holosericea (Burm. f.)Greut. subsp.holosericea (=O. fuciflora Crantz subsp.fuciflora) from near Vienna (Austria), and of subsp.maxima (Fleischm.)Greut. andO. cornuta Steven with intermediates from the Dalmatian island Hvar (Yugoslavia) was analysed and illustrated by scatter diagrams. A hybrid origin of these intermediates is suggested. Aspects of hybridization betweenO. holosericea agg. andO. scolopax agg. are discussed.

Zusammenfassung Die Untersuchung der Mureinstruktur und der Polysaccharidzusammensetzung der Zellwände von sieben Arten der Gattung Cellulomonas ergab, daß alle Arten mit Ausnahme von C. flavigena Murein vom L-Orn-D-Glu-Type enthalten. Bei C. flavigena ist die D-Glutaminsäure der Interpeptidbrücke durch D-Asparaginsäure ersetzt. Die Polysaccharidzusammensetzung ist wesentlich variabler und bei den meisten Arten voneinander verschieden.Die Einheitlichkeit der Mureinstruktur einerseits und die Verschiedenheit des Mureintyps von allen anderen coryneformen Bakterien andererseits spricht für die Berechtigung, die cellulolytischen coryneformen Bakterien in einer eigenen Gattung zusammenzufassen.

Summary The investigation of the murein(peptidoglycan)structure of 6 species of Cellulomonas showed, that all species besides C. flavigena contain the L-Orn-D-Glu-type. In C. flavigena D-glutamic acid of the interpeptide bridge is replaced by D-aspartic acid. The composition of the polysaccharide of the cell wall is much more variable and differs in most species.The observation that the murein type is uniform within the genus but quite different from the murein types found in other coryneform organisms justifies the unification of the cellulolytic coryneform bacteria in the genus Cellulomonas.

Zusammenfassung Arabis pumila Jacq. subsp.stettulata (Bebtol.)Nyman (2n=16) unterscheidet sich von subsp.pumila (2n=32) außer durch eine geringere Zahl von Stengelblättern und Blüten vor allem durch das Vorherrschen von (3-)4(-5)spaltigen Haaren im Indument insbesondere der Oberseite und des Randes der Grundblätter; bei subsp.pumila überwiegen dort 2spaltige und einfache Haare. Die beiden Unterarten wachsen in den Ostalpen etwa im gleichen Verbreitungsgebiet. Die Entstehung der subsp.pumila und die Nomenklatur beider Taxa werden diskutiert.

Summary Arabis pumila Jacq. subsp.stellulata (Bertol.)Nyman (2n=16) is dinstinct from subsp.pumila (2n=32) by the following characters: subsp.stellulata reveals fewer cauline leaves and flowers than subsp.pumila, in the main the former is characterized by predominating (3-)4(-5)-fid hairs especially on the upper surface and margin of the basal leaves, the latter by mainly 2-fid and unbranched hairs. In the Eastern Alps both the subspecies occur in about the same area. The origin of subsp.pumila and the nomenclature of both taxa are discussed.

Summary The new combination Aspergillus variecolor for Emericella variecolor, made by Thom and Raper, on the base of identity of the conidic form, and without taking in consideration the different morphology of the ascospores of E. variecolor in comparison with those of Aspergillus nidulans (a group including also E. variecolor, according the above quoted students) is criticized.

Zusammenfassung Man kritisiert die Kombination des Aspergillus variecolor, die von Thom und Raper durch Emericella variecolor auf Basis der Identität der konidischen Form (Aspergillus) geschaffen wurde, ohne jegliche Berücksichtigung der bemerkenswerten Verschiedenheit der Morphologie zwischen den Askosporen des E. variecolor und denen des Aspergillus nidulans (in die letzte Gruppe wollen Thom und Raper den E. variecolor einreihen).

Zusammenfassung Veronica quezelii M.Fischer aus hochalpinen Felswänden in Lycien (Kleinasien) ist eine neue Art aus der Verwandtschaft vonV. kotschyana Benth.; sie ist durch die reichliche Bedrüsung der ganzen Pflanze ausgezeichnet.Veronica saturejoides Vis. subsp.munellensis M.Fischer ist eine neue Unterart aus der alpinen Region des Berges Munella in Nord-Albanien, die — ähnlich wie die gleichfalls als Subspecies einzustufendeV. kellereri Degen etUrum. — von der typischen Subspecies hauptsächlich durch Merkmale der Behaarung unterschieden und durch eine Areallücke getrennt ist.
Summary Veronica quezelii M.Fischer from calcareous rocks of the alpine region of Lycia (Asia Minor) is a new species akin toV. kotschyana Benth. and characterised by the glandular pubescence of the whole plant.Veronica saturejoides Vis. subsp.munellensis M.Fischer is a new subspecies from the alpine region of Mount Munella in Northern Albania. SimilarlyV. kellereri Degen etUrum. has to be treated as subspecies ofV. saturejoides. Both differ from the typical subspecies by characters of the indumentum, and occur in separate areas.

Summary Four homogeneous strains ofCoremiella from human feces were studied from morpho-cultural and biological standpoint. This genus is likeGeotrichum, but in addition to some mycelial, chlamydospore-like cells, coremioid mycelial, reptant strands are formed.The arthrosporulation is an endogeneous process, and, likeGeotrichum, there are usual hyaline and duller chlamydosporioid, fertile arthrospores, but less differentiated.The strains are referred toC. ulmariae, and the characteristics were compared also on timber and woody European Meadowsweet cultures. But the first binomial ofCoremiella has been published asOospora cuboidea Ell. etSacc., as ascertained by the study of the authenticEllis specimen.In conclusion, the genusCoremiella Bub. etKrieg. has been emended, and the combinationC. cuboidea (Sacc. etEll.) established.

It comprises the annual species hitherto included inParacaryum (DC.)Boiss. andMattiastrum (Boiss.)Brand. Distribution maps are given for all 3 genera.Microparacaryum consists of two species,M. salsum (Boiss.)Hilger & Podlech (M. s.) andM. intermedium (Fresen.)Hilger & Podlech (M. i.). ParticularlyM. i. is a very variable species, and most of the species formerly recognized belong here. Scattered all over the range of the genus, plants occur with nutlets exhibiting flat or incurved marginal wings, often in mixed populations. This fruit polymorphism is taxonomically treated by recognizing formae. In addition, the following new infraspecific taxa and combinations are described:M. i. var.intermedium formaparacaryoides Hilger & Podlech,M. i. var.stellatum (H.
