The aim of the present study was to evaluate the relationship between central and peripheral concentrations of proopiocortin-related peptides in different periods of life. One hundred and eighty-nine plasma samples from normal subjects (18-87 years) obtained in basal conditions, and 20 cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples obtained by lumbar puncture from healthy volunteers (18-75 years) were studied. beta Lipotropin (beta LPH), beta endorphin (beta EP) and ACTH were measured by specific RIA after silicic acid plasma extraction and gel chromatography (beta LPH and beta EP). No sex differences were found in the patterns of the three peptides either in the plasma or in CSF. In the plasma samples, both beta LPH and beta EP concentrations showed a pattern throughout life which was expressed by a paraboloid function with the lowest values found in young and old subjects and with peaks at 51.3 and 48.2 years, respectively. On the contrary, ACTH values failed to be represented by a significant linear or curvilinear regression and presented only a slight decrease in subjects over 75 years of age. CSF levels of beta LPH were significantly lower in 45-76 year old subjects (18.8 +/- 12.6 fmol/ml, M +/- SD) than in 18-44 year old subjects (34.5 +/- 15.8; p less than 0.05), as were those of beta EP (elderly: 41.2 +/- 19.7; young: 94.2 +/- 36.7; p less than 0.05), which showed a significantly linear inverse correlation with age (r = 0.6062, p less than 0.01). The responses of plasma immunoreactive (IR) proopiomelanocortin (POMC)-derived N-terminal peptide (Nt), IR-beta-endorphin (Ep), IR-beta-lipotropin (LPH) and IR-ACTH levels to ovine corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRF) and FK 33-824 (Met-Enkephalin analogue) were studied in nine patients with Addison's disease. The basal plasma levels (mean +/- SE) of IR-Nt, IR-Ep, IR-LPH and IR-ACTH were significantly higher in patients with Addison's disease (4459 +/- 975 pg/ml, 132 +/- 25 pg/ml, 4425 +/- 1030 pg/ml, 553 +/- 89 pg/ml, respectively) than in the normal controls (202 +/- 38 pg/ml, 7 +/- 2 pg/ml, 101 +/- 18 pfi/ml, 53 +/- 16 pg/ml, respectively). Ovine CRF produced rapid and concomitant increases in plasma levels of IR-Nt, IR-Ep, IR-LPH and IR-ACTH. Ep and ACTH levels reached a peak at 30 min. On the other hand, Nt and LPH levels reached a peak at 60 min and these levels gradually decreased up to 120 min. The molar concentrations of these IR-peptides in plasma were changed in close parallel fashion to one another. FK 33-824 produced a pronounced and concomitant fall in IR-Nt, IR-EP, IR-LPH, and IR-ACTH levels. These results support the theory that Nt, Ep, LPH and ACTH are produced simultaneously from POMC as a common precursor in the pituitary gland and are secreted concomitantly under various conditions such as stimulation by CRF and inhibition by FK 33-824 in patients with Addison's disease.  相似文献

Corticotrophin releasing hormone (CRH), dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS) and cortisol were measured in umbilical cord plasma obtained from 90 preterm and 98 term fetuses. Maternal plasma was obtained from 23 women who delivered preterm and from 23 women matched for gestational age who ultimately delivered term infants. Mean umbilical cord plasma CRH concentration was significantly higher in the preterm fetuses (n = 69, 538 +/- 63 pg/ml) compared to the term fetuses (n = 98, 280 +/- 22 pg/ml, P < 0.01). Mean DHEAS level in the preterm fetuses was 208 +/- 22 mg/dl (n = 56), cortisol level was 7 +/- 1 mg/dl (n = 58). Umbilical plasma CRH concentrations (808 +/- 170 pg/ml) were significantly higher at 24-27 weeks than at 28-31 or 31-34 weeks gestation. Cortisol levels (12 +/- 3 micrograms/dl) were highest at 24-27 weeks. Mode of delivery and the presence of labor did not affect fetal CRH levels. The highest fetal CRH levels were measured in the pregnancies complicated by hypertension as well as prematurity; however, fetal CRH levels remained higher in the preterm group compared to the term group when hypertensive pregnancies were excluded. ACTH concentration has been estimated radioimmunologically in fetal plasma (100th day of gestation) and in plasma of newborn piglets during the first 24 hours of life and in sows. In comparison to the values of ACTH in sows at the 100th day of gestation during anaesthesia (175 pg/ml) and sows at parturition (235 +/- 77 pg/ml) the concentration in fetal (558 +/- 163 pg/ml) and newborn piglets (448 +/- 158 pg/ml) was much higher. On an average ACTH concentration increased during the first 24 hours of life up to 998 +/- 628 pg/ml. The results are compared to those in other species.  相似文献

Whether leptin, a product of the ob gene, can be stimulated by glucocorticoid administration has been an issue of controversy. We investigated the effect of intravenous administration of methylprednisolone (500 mg/day x 3 days) on plasma levels of leptin in 16 patients (female/male = 11/5) with Graves' hyperthyroidism and active ophthalmopathy who received pulse therapy. Significant elevation of plasma leptin levels started at the eighth hour (13.9+/-1.8 ng/mL, p=0.042) and lasted until the 72nd hour (21.2+/-5.0 ng/mL, p=0.009), as compared with basal levels (8.8+/-1.2 ng/mL). When methylprednisolone was replaced with oral prednisolone (10 mg three times per day x 2 weeks), no difference in plasma leptin levels was noted compared with basal measurement. Under methylprednisolone administration, a significant suppression of tumor necrosis factor-alpha began at the 24th hour (8.1+/-1.3 pg/mL, p=0.004) and lasted until the 48th hour (8.1+/-1.0 pg/mL, p=0.008), as compared with basal measurement (12.5+/-1.5 pg/mL). Compared with basal levels (93+/-2 mg/dL), significant elevation in the plasma glucose level started at the third hour (135+/-10 mg/dL, p=0.000) and lasted until the 72nd hour (110+/-4 mg/dL, p=0.019). The timing of serum insulin elevation approximated that of plasma glucose (3 hours: 14+/-3 microU/mL, p=0.006) and lasted until the end of prednisolone administration (2 weeks: 12+/-2 microU/mL, p=0.044), when compared with basal levels (14+/-3 microU/mL). We concluded that the parental administration of pharmacological doses of methylprednisolone to patients with Graves' hyperthyroidism could acutely raise their plasma level of leptin.  相似文献

A radioimmunoassay was used for measuring testosterone in the plasma, gonads and adrenals of 28, 29, 30 and 31-day-old rabbit fetuses of both sexes and newborns. A marked sex difference was shown in the concentrations of testosterone in plasma and in gonads whereas in adrenals the levels of testosterone were low in both sexes (34 to 147 pg/10 mg). In male fetuses, plasma testosterone levels increased from the 28th (133 +/- 20 pg/ml) to the 31st day (361 +/- 119 pg/ml) of intrauterine life, reaching then the values observed in the newborns (387 +/- 73 pg/ml). Plasma from males, on the other hand contained, at all stages studied, significantly more testosterone than plasma from female fetuses (21 +/- 6 to 41 +/- 11 pg/ml) and female newborns (42 +/- 6 pg/ml). In the same way, fetal testicular testosterone concentrations varying from 1 382 +/- 218 to 2 317 +/- 333 pg/10 mg were similar to those measured in the newborns (1 940 +/- 304 pg/10 mg) and significantly higher than fetal (13 to 34 pg/10 mg) or neonatal (44 pg/10 mg) ovarian concentrations. In 14 patients affected by chronic renal failure (7 males and 7 females) it has been evaluated the secretion of beta LPH, beta EP, ACTH and Cortisol in basal conditions and immediately after a dialytic treatment. For beta LPH and beta EP measurements on each thawed plasma a silic acid extraction and a successive peptides separation by a Sephadex G-75 column chromatography preceeded the two specific RIAs. Basal beta LPH plasma levels resulted significantly higher than in normal controls, while that of beta EP, ACTH and Cortisol were in the normal range. The dialytic treatment was able to increase ACTH and Cortisol plasma levels, without to modified beta LPH and beta EP plasma levels.  相似文献

Testosterone time-course response to 5000 IU hCG was studied simultaneously in the saliva and the plasma of 13 adult normal men. Baseline levels in saliva and plasma were: 93 +/- 9 pg/ml (mean +/- SEM) and 4.9 +/- 0.3 ng/ml respectively. After hCG the same biphasic pattern was observed in both fluids with a similar early response but the delayed peak at 72 h was relatively higher in saliva than in plasma. Thus it was suggested to collect saliva instead of plasma for the evaluation of testicular secretion of testosterone after hCG administration.  相似文献

To evaluate the rabbit availability in beta-Lipotrophin studies we have investigated their brain, pituitary and plasmatic concentrations in basal conditions and after cold-stress. Previous silicic Acid extract and Sephadex G-75 column chromatography, the two peptides were measured through two specific and sensitive RIAs. The results reveal the presence of beta LPH and beta EP and their increase after cold-stress in hypothalamus, pituitary and peripheral plasma concentrations while not in midbrain.  相似文献

Fetal decapitation in utero has enabled us to study the role of fetal pituitary hormones in the development of the fetal testis. Testes from males decapitated near 80 days of gestational life and later delivered at 150 days were smaller than normal and about one-tenth the normal weight. The size of the seminiferous tubules was similar in both groups; however, the number of Leydig cells seemed reduced. In addition, the Leydig cells of the experimental group contained smaller mitochondria with reduced tubular cristae, fewer lipid droplets, and reduced agranular endoplasmic reticulum. Androgen production was inhibited. Measured by radioimmunoassay, the testosterone level in the umbilical vein was 329 +/- 82 pg/ml in six decapitates fetuses, 412 +/- 62 pg/ml in ten normal fetuses. The level in the umbilical artery was 328 +/- 56 pg/ml in five decapitated fetuses, 658 +/- 140 pg/ml in normal fetuses. These studies suggest that chronic deprivation of fetal pituitary hormones inhibits the growth and development of the testis in general and of the Leydig cells in particular.  相似文献

Neurohumoral responses have been implicated in the pathogenesis of ischemia-evoked cerebral edema. In a well-characterized animal model of ischemic stroke, the present study was undertaken to 1) study the profile of plasma arginine-vasopressin (AVP), and 2) determine whether osmotherapy with mannitol and various concentrations of hypertonic saline (HS) solutions influence plasma AVP levels. Halothane-anesthetized adult male Wistar rats were subjected to 2 h of middle cerebral artery occlusion with the intraluminal filament technique. Plasma AVP levels (means +/- SD) were significantly elevated at 24 h (42 +/- 21 pg/ml), 48 h (50 +/- 28 pg/ml), and 72 h (110 +/- 47 pg/ml), and returned to baseline at 96 h (22 +/- 15 pg/ml) following middle cerebral artery occlusion compared with sham-operated controls (14 +/- 7 pg/ml). Plasma AVP levels at 72 h were significantly attenuated with 7.5% HS (37 +/- 8 pg/ml; 360 +/- 11 osmol/l) compared with 0.9% saline (73 +/- 6; 292 +/- 6 osmol/l), 3% HS (66 +/- 8 pg/ml; 303 +/- 12 osmol/l), or mannitol (74 +/- 9 pg/ml; 313 +/- 14 osmol/l) treatment. HS (7.5%) significantly attenuated water content in the ipsilateral and contralateral hemispheres compared with surgical shams, 0.9% saline, 3% HS, and mannitol treatments. Peak plasma AVP levels were not associated with direct histopathological injury to the anterior hypothalamus. Attenuation of brain water content with 7.5% HS treatment coincides with attenuated serum AVP levels, and we speculate that this may represent one additional mechanism by which osmotherapy attenuates edema associated with ischemic stroke.  相似文献

17-Hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP) time-course response to hCG (5000 IU) was studied simultaneously in the saliva and the plasma of 12 adult healthy men. Baseline levels in plasma and saliva were: 1.0 +/- 0.1 ng/ml (mean +/- SEM) and 24 +/- 2 pg/ml respectively. After hCG, a biphasic pattern was observed in both fluids with a similar early response but the peak elicited at 33 h in plasma was not observed in saliva where the levels were lower than those recorded at 24 h. Since saliva steroids are believed to reflect the plasma non-protein bound fraction, this difference was assumed to be due to the decrease of the unbound fraction of plasma 17-OHP in the late afternoon as a consequence of the increase of CBG-bound fraction since at that time cortisol levels are low. The ratio of saliva to plasma 17-OHP levels was significantly correlated with plasma cortisol levels: r = 0.44 (P less than 0.01; n = 140). However the similar response in saliva at 24 and at 48 h after hCG allows the evaluation of the endocrine testicular function using saliva instead of plasma.  相似文献

Mouse tumor cell beta-lipotropin (beta LPH) and gamma-lipotropin (gamma LPH) were purified from mouse pituitary tumor cell culture medium by ion exchange chromatography and gel filtration. The mouse tumor cell beta LPH was identified by immunoprecipitation with several antisera to beta-endorphin, generation of opioid bioactivity upon brief treatment with trypsin, and its identity with the molecule previously shown to serve as an intermediate in the biosynthesis of beta-endorphin. Mouse tumor cell beta LPH (Mr = 8200 +/- 250) and gamma LPH (Mr = 4600 +/- 200) are significantly smaller than known mammalian beta LPH (Mr = 10,000) and gamma LPH (Mr = 6300) molecules. The beta-endorphin region of mouse tumor cell beta LPH has the same amino acid composition as ovine, bovine, and camel beta-endorphin, and species-specific differences are thus located in the gamma LPH region of the molecule. Mouse tumor cell beta LPH and gamma LPH lack a methionine residue at what had been considered to be a highly conserved site in their beta-melanotropin-like region. A species-specific radioimmunoassay for mouse tumor cell gamma LPH was developed. Rat pituitary beta LPH and gamma LPH were shown to be similar to the corresponding mouse tumor cell molecules in size and lack of methionine in their beta-melanotropin-like segment.  相似文献

Mean (+/- s.d.) pregnancy length for the 14 llamas in this study was 350 +/- 4.5 days. Plasma progesterone concentrations increased by 5 days after mating and remained elevated (greater than 2.0 ng/ml) throughout most of pregnancy. At about 2 weeks before parturition, plasma progesterone concentrations began to decline, dropped markedly during the final 24 h before parturition, and returned to basal concentrations (less than 0.5 ng/ml) by the day of parturition. The combined oestrone + oestradiol-17 beta and oestradiol-17 beta concentrations varied between 6 and 274 pg/ml and 4 and 114 pg/ml, respectively, during the first 9 months of pregnancy. Concentrations increased between 9 months after mating and the end of pregnancy with peak mean concentrations of 827 +/- 58 (s.e.m.) pg oestrone + oestradiol-17 beta/ml (range: 64-1658) and 196 +/- 10 pg oestradiol-17 beta/ml (31-294) during the last week of pregnancy. Concentrations then declined to 87 +/- 14 pg oestrone + oestradiol-17 beta/ml (7-488) and 25 +/- 5 pg oestradiol-17 beta/ml (2.5-142) during the first week post partum. Plasma cortisol concentrations varied between 2.6 and 51.9 ng/ml (14.0 +/- 0.5) from mating until 2 weeks before parturition when the concentrations began to decline. Only a slight increase in plasma cortisol concentrations was observed in association with parturition. Plasma corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF), corticotropin (ACTH) and cortisol levels were simultaneously determined by radioimmunoassays at 0600 h, 1200 h, 1800 h and 2200 h in six normal subjects, in order to examine whether the diurnal rhythm in plasma CRF exists and how it correlates to the diurnal rhythm in plasma ACTH and cortisol concentration. The highest CRF level was observed at 0600 h (7.0 +/- 1.2 pg/ml) and significantly lower levels (p less than 0.01) at 1800 h (1.7 +/- 0.2 pg/ml) and 2200 h (1.9 +/- 0.4 pg/ml). A clear diurnal rhythm was demonstrated in plasma ACTH and cortisol levels, with the highest values at 0600 h (44.6 +/- 8.1 pg/ml and 15.9 +/- 2.0 micrograms/dl, respectively) and the lowest at 2200 h (12.3 +/- 2.8 pg/ml and 4.6 +/- 1.0 micrograms/ml, respectively). These results suggest that the diurnal rhythm in ACTH and cortisol is under the regulation, at least in part, of the diurnal rhythm in CRF secretion.  相似文献

Previous studies suggested that cultured human endothelial cells metabolize arachidonic acid to thromboxane A2. When primary cultures of human umbilical vein endothelial cells were incubated with 14C-arachidonic acid and the 14C-metabolites resolved by reverse phase high pressure liquid chromatography, radioactive products were observed that comigrated with 6-keto-prostaglandin F1alpha and thromboxane B2, the degradation products of prostacyclin and thromboxane A2, respectively. Since platelets synthesize thromboxane A2, the present study examined the hypothesis that adherent platelets may contaminate the primary cultures of human umbilical vein endothelial cells and be responsible for thromboxane B2 production. Confluent primary cultures or passaged cells were stimulated with histamine (10(-5) M). Incubation buffer was analyzed by specific radioimmunoassays for 6-keto-prostaglandin F1alpha and thromboxane B2. The production of thromboxane B2 decreased in the passaged cells (207 +/- 44 pg/ml versus 65 +/- 12 pg/ml; primary versus passaged cells). A moderate decrease in the yield of 6-keto-prostaglandin F1alpha was measured in the passaged cells compared to the primary cultures (3159 +/- 356 pg/ml versus 1678 +/- 224 pg/ml, primary versus passaged cells). If the primary cultures were incubated with human platelet-rich plasma for 30 min prior to stimulation with histamine, the amount of thromboxane B2 increased approximately 10-fold. In an additional experiment, sub-confluent primary cells were incubated with platelet-rich plasma for 30 min, washed to remove non-adherent platelets, and allowed to reach confluency. Confluent cells were then passaged and stimulated with histamine. The amount of thromboxane B2 was not significantly different from that obtained with passaged cells that had not been incubated with platelet-rich plasma during the primary culture (83 +/- 15 pg/ml versus 65 +/- 12 pg/ml, respectively). If the cyclooxygenase inhibitor indomethacin was included in the incubations, the amounts of both thromboxane B2 and 6-keto-prostaglandin F1alpha decreased. In contrast, the thromboxane A2 synthase inhibitor dazoxiben blocked thromboxane production and had no effect on the amount of 6-keto-prostaglandin F1alpha. Light microscopy revealed the presence of adherent platelets in primary cultures with and without platelet-rich plasma but no platelets were observed in any group of passaged cells. Histofluorescence for platelet serotonin indicated the presence of platelets only in primary cultures of human umbilical vein endothelial cells or in cultures pre-incubated with platelet-rich plasma. These studies suggest that primary cultures of human umbilical vein endothelial cells contain adherent platelets that contribute to thromboxane synthesis.  相似文献

The effect of age and melatonin on the activity of the neuroendocrine reproductive system was studied in young cyclic (3-5 months-old), and old acyclic (23-25 month-old) female rats. Pituitary responsiveness to a bolus of GnRH (50 ng per 100 g body weight) was assessed at both reproductive stages in control and melatonin-treated (150 micrograms melatonin per 100 g body weight each day for 1 month) groups. After this experiment, female rats were treated for another month to study the influence of ageing and melatonin on the reproductive axis. Plasma LH, FSH, prolactin, oestradiol and progesterone were measured. A positive LH response to GnRH was observed in both control groups (cyclic and acyclic). However, a response of greater magnitude was observed in old acyclic rats. Melatonin treatment reduced this increased response in acyclic rats and produced a pituitary responsiveness similar to that of young cyclic rats. FSH secretion was independent of GnRH administration in all groups, indicating desynchronization between LH and FSH secretion in response to GnRH in young animals and during senescence. No effect on prolactin was observed. Significantly higher LH (3009.11 +/- 1275.08 pg ml(-1); P < 0.05) and FSH concentrations (5879.28 +/- 1631.68 pg ml(-1); P < 0.01) were seen in acyclic control rats. After melatonin treatment, LH (811.11 +/- 89.71 pg ml(-1)) and FSH concentrations (2070 +/- 301.62 pg ml(-1)) decreased to amounts similar to those observed in young cyclic rats. However, plasma concentrations of oestradiol and progesterone were not reduced. In conclusion, the results of the present study indicate that, during ageing, the effect of melatonin is exerted primarily at the hypothalamo-pituitary axis rather than on the ovary. Melatonin restored the basal concentrations of pituitary hormones and pituitary responsiveness to similar values to those observed in young rats.  相似文献

A specific RIA for beta-endorphin (B-END) was developed to measure horse plasma levels of B-END-like material (B-END-LI) during exercises and shipping. Three exercise speeds and durations were: trot at 260-300 m/min for 10 min; slow gallop at 390-420 m/min for 5 min and fast gallop at 700-800 m/min for 2 min. Blood samples were taken from 4 horses before, immediately after, 30 and 60 min after exercise. Trotting increased plasma B-END-LI from a basal level of 109 +/- 7 pg/ml to 172 +/- 22 at the end of exercise and returned to 127 +/- 17 and 107 +/- 10 pg/ml at 30 and 60 min after exercise. Similar results were obtained in slow gallop (121 +/- 6 to 210 +/- 17 then 155 +/- 8 and 131 +/- 11 pg/ml). However, fast gallop caused the greatest increase (352%) in B-END-LI to concentrations of 544 +/- 93 pg/ml and 276 +/- 74 pg/ml at 5 and 30 min after exercise. Plasma B-END-LI returned to 199 +/- 46 pg/ml in 1 hr. Sequential exercises of trot, slow and fast gallop were conducted in 6 horses. Plasma B-END-LI were 116 +/- 19 pg/ml (pre-exercise), 198 +/- 21 (trot), 361 +/- 51 (slow gallop), 500 +/- 57 (fast gallop) and 248 +/- 29, 171 +/- 24, 143 +/- 20 and 139 +/- 21 pg/ml at 0.5, 1, 2 and 3 hr, respectively, following exercises. Transportation in horse trailer also significantly increased plasma levels of B-END-LI from a basal level of 138 +/- 12 to 196 +/- 24 pg/ml within 30 min and this levels were maintained at 45 min (177 +/- 3 pg/ml). Plasma levels of B-END-LI began to decline at 60 min of shipping. These results showed that plasma B-END-LI was increased in all speeds of exercise and by shipping and returned to pre-exercise and pre-shipping level in 30 min except fast gallop which returned to pre-exercise level in 1 hr.  相似文献

A 36-yr-old man with multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) type I had an ectopic growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) syndrome due to a GHRH-secreting pancreatic tumor. The immunoreactive (IR)-GHRH concentration in his plasma ranged from 161 to 400 pg/ml (299 +/- 61 pg/ml, mean +/- SD; normal, 10.4 +/- 4.1 pg/ml), and a significant correlation was found between his plasma IR-GHRH and GH (r = 0.622, p less than 0.02). After removal of the pancreatic tumor, the high plasma GH concentration returned to nearly the normal range (42.2 +/- 31.3 to 9.6 +/- 3.8 ng/ml). These changes paralleled the normalization of his plasma IR-GHRH (16.1 +/- 3.8 pg/ml) and some of his symptoms related to acromegaly improved. However, plasma GH (7.7 +/- 1.3 ng/ml) and IGF-I (591 +/- 22 ng/ml) concentrations were high at 12 months after surgery, suggesting adenomatous changes in the pituitary somatotrophs. Before surgery, exogenous GHRH induced a marked increase in plasma GH, and somatostatin and its agonist (SMS201-995) completely suppressed GH secretion, but not IR-GHRH release. No pulsatile secretion of either IR-GHRH or GH was observed during sleep. An apparent increase in the plasma GH concentration was observed in response to administration of TRH, glucose, arginine or insulin, while plasma IR-GHRH did not show any fluctuation. However, these responses of plasma GH were reduced or no longer observed one month and one year after surgery. These results indicate that 1) a moderate increase in circulating GHRH due to ectopic secretion from a pancreatic tumor stimulated GH secretion resulting in acromegaly, and evoked GH responses to various provocative tests indistinguishable from those in patients with classical acromegaly, and 2) the ectopic secretion of GHRH may play an etiological role in the pituitary lesion of this patient with MEN type I.  相似文献

Plasma immunoreactive (IR)-7B2 was measured in patients with chronic renal failure (CRF), using a specific radioimmunoassay. The mean (+/- S.E.M.) concentration of plasma IR-7B2 in CRF patients under hemodialysis (502 +/- 36 pg/ml, n = 27) was significantly higher than that in normal subjects (men, 52.9 +/- 1.7 pg/ml (n = 179); women, 55.8 +/- 1.3 pg/ml (n = 198]. Significant correlations between plasma levels of IR-7B2 and those of blood urea nitrogen, creatinine and beta 2-microglobulin were evident in non-dialyzed CRF patients. In the analyses of pooled plasma and urine obtained from normal subjects on gel permeation chromatography, a major peak of IR-7B2 was observed at an apparent molecular weight of 20,000 in the plasma, and at a position of a smaller molecular weight in the urine. These results suggest that 7B2 is degraded mainly in the kidney and that measurement of plasma 7B2 may serve as an appropriate tool for assessing renal function.  相似文献
