Based on 96 grab samples at 16 sites the composition and distribution of macrobenthic fauna were examined in a small coastal basin of lower Chesapeake Bay. Normal classification analysis of dominant species produced five site groups. Site groups were divided into clean sand sites, fine sand sites with varying amounts of silt-clay, and mud sites. Dominant species of the clean group were primarily restricted to this sediment type, while the dominant species of the other groups were widespread in the study area.  相似文献

利用2008年春季在大亚湾西北部海域开展的12个测站的大型底栖动物调查资料,对该海域大型底栖动物的群落特征进行分析.结果表明该海域内大型底栖动物优势种由粗帝汶蛤(Timoclea scabra)、波纹巴非蛤(Paphia undulata)、上野蜾嬴蜚(Corophium uenoi)、方背鳞虫(Lepidonotus squamatus)、刀明樱蛤(Moerella culter)和角海蛹(Ophelia acuminata)等6种组成;可划分为4个群落,群落Ⅱ和群落Ⅰ为主体群落,群落Ⅲ和群落Ⅳ分布区较小,群落间差异较大.大型底栖动物数量上以个体较大的软体动物占优,但群落的组成则以多毛类和甲壳类为主,其组成情况基本上反映了群落的特征.群落Ⅰ以多毛类-甲壳类为表征,群落Ⅱ则以甲壳类-多毛类-软体动物为表征.栖息环境的差异,是造成群落间差异的主要原因;群落多样性水平呈群落Ⅲ>群落Ⅱ>群落Ⅰ>群落Ⅳ,沉积环境的污染状况和人为扰动是影响多样性水平的主要因素;群落整体的稳定性较好,未受到明显的扰动,但分布于航道区域和渔业生产作业区的群落Ⅳ和群落Ⅲ,在航道建设、疏浚和渔业生产的影响下,群落受到一定程度的扰动,稳定性较弱.  相似文献

Several different intertime dissimilarity measures, used with a variety of standardisations of data, were applied to transformed data of macrobenthic species at six sites. These data were obtained over twenty-two times at 8-week intervals. Results were evaluated by stepwise regressions (linear, annual cyclical, longer term cycles). Manhattan metric flux between consecutive times was preferred for most subsequent purposes. This flux divided into positive and negative components which measure, summated over all species, rates of recruitment and depletion. Use of algebraic and absolute sums permits evaluation of an index of homeostasis which measures the counterbalancing of recruitment by some species and depletion by others; this index had a value of ca 0.7. Use of the Manhattan metric with catch standardized data indicated changes of community composition at the (more coastal) Bramble Bay sites with a roughly 3-yr cycle and at the (more oceanic) Middle Banks sites with a roughly 51/2-yr cycle. In the main analyses, sites were considered individually and in various groupings. It was shown that at Bramble Bay the optimum near-annual periodicity gives a 50-instead of a 52-week year, and also that with increased numbers of sites in a grouping, the greater the significance of the near-annual cycles. An hypothesis is outlined involving ‘counterbalancing’ between sites of depletion rates due to mobile predators or ‘disturbers’ (fish and prawns). The counterbalancing of recruitment rates is linked to depletion, and is in line with Caswell's (1978) somewhat theoretical paper in which he suggested the temporary action of predation opens up new cells for colonization. This hypothesis goes far towards ‘explaining’ the known patchiness of benthos in Moreton Bay. Also if mobile predators are a link between areas in proximity with different biotas the ecological unit (2 ‘community’) is necessarily expanded.  相似文献

High virus counts were found in water samples collected from the Chesapeake Bay. Viruses were enumerated by ultracentrifugation of water samples onto grids which were visualized by transmission electron microscopy. Virus counts in September 1990, April 1991, June 1991, August 1991, and October 1991 ranged between 2.6 x 10(6) and 1.4 x 10(8) viruses ml-1 with a mean of 2.5 x 10(7) viruses ml-1. Virus counts were usually at least three times higher than direct bacterial counts in corresponding samples. Virus counts in August and October were significantly higher than at the other sampling times, whereas bacterial counts were significantly lower at that time, yielding mean virus-to-bacterium ratios of 12.6 and 25.6, respectively. From analysis of morphology of the virus particles, it is concluded that a large proportion of the viruses are bacteriophages. The high virus counts obtained in this study suggest that viruses may be an important factor affecting bacterial populations in the Chesapeake Bay, with implications for gene transfer in natural aquatic bacterial populations and release of genetically engineered microorganisms to estuarine and coastal environments.  相似文献

深圳湾湿地是世界濒危鸟类-黑脸琵鹭最重要的越冬栖息地之一。1999-2000年在此越冬的黑脸琵鹭数量178只,约占世界总数量的25%。近十年来深圳湾湿地黑脸琵鹭的数量逐年增加,主要原因可能是由于其它湿地环境恶化而使黑脸琵鹭集中到深圳湾,这种情况对黑脸琵鹭的生存和发展是不利的。深圳湾湿地生态环境存在诸多问题,使该湿地生态系统环境质量不断下降,因此,提出了保护深圳湾湿地生态环境的若干建议。  相似文献

Growth of young-of-the-year mackerel in the Bay of Biscay   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The first growth season of young-of-the-year (0+ year) mackerel Scomber scombrus , sampled in the Bay of Biscay, was parameterized to determine growth patterns. Daily increments were identified on sagittae otoliths, for calculation of age and growth of 92 larvae and 54 juveniles over the range 3·6–215·0 mm standard length ( L S). A Gompertz curve was fitted to the length-at-age data. At the end of the first year of growth L S was 194·2 mm, with a maximum growth increment of c . 2 mm day−1, observed 62 days after hatching. Backcalculated growth increments for mackerel juveniles, during their larval stage, were higher than those observed for sampled larvae; only 10·9% of sampled larvae were estimated to survive. Growth for north-eastern Atlantic mackerel was slower than that published for north-western Atlantic mackerel. Backcalculated hatching dates for mackerel were consistent with the typical temporal distribution of mackerel spawning in the Bay of Biscay.  相似文献

Marine microorganism activities are commonly assessed by bulk methods and assigned to the total cell count. The presence in significant amounts of ghost, dead, and damaged cells makes such as assignment a non-correct one. A Nucleic Acid Double Staining protocol (NADS) of fresh water bacteria (Barbesti et al., Cytometry 40 (2000) 214-218) has been adapted to resolve viable, damaged and dead cells in marine environments (Grégori et al., Appl. Environ. Microbiol. 67 (2001) 4662-4670). The present reports the first in situ application of this approach, conducted in the Bay of Marseilles in winter and spring periods at two sites with contrasted features.  相似文献

Chesapeake Bay was investigated as a source of actinomycetes to screen for production of novel bioactive compounds. The presence of relatively large populations of actinoplanetes (chemotype II/D actinomycetes) in Chesapeake Bay sediment samples indicates that it is an eminently suitable ecosystem from which to isolate actinomycetes for screening programs. Actinomycetes were isolated from sediment samples collected in Chesapeake Bay with an isolation medium containing nalidixic acid, which proved to be more effective than heat pretreatment of samples. Actinomycete counts ranged from a high of 1.4 × 105 to a low of 1.8 × 102 CFU/ml of sediment. Actinomycetes constituted 0.15 to 8.63% of the culturable microbial community. The majority of isolates from the eight stations studied were actinoplanetes (i.e., chemotype II/D), and 249 of these isolates were obtained in a total of 298 actinomycete isolates. Antimicrobial activity profiles indicated that diverse populations of actinoplanetes were present at each station. DNA hybridization studies showed considerable diversity among isolates between stations, but indicated that actinoplanete strains making up populations at nearby stations were more similar to each other than to populations sampled at distant stations. The diversity of actinoplanetes and the ease with which these organisms were isolated from Chesapeake Bay sediments make this a useful source of these actinomycetes.  相似文献

The distributions of 24 marine and estuarine isopods have been reviewed. Lironeca ovalis, Aegathoa medialis, Olencira praegustator, and Probopyrus pandalicola were the only parasitic species found. Of the 20 free-living isopods, Asellus communis and Chiridotea almyra were the only fresh to brackish water species, and Chiridotea arenicola, C. stenops, Cirolana impressa, C. polita and Edotea montosa were the true marine species. The salinity range of Cyathura burbancki was extended and the range of Chiridotea stenops was extended northward while the ranges of Chiridotea nigrescens and C. arenicola were extended southward. The contribution of isopod distributions to the concept of a shallow water Transatlantic zoogeographic province is discussed.  相似文献

In Minonosok Bay, in a region of long-term industrial mariculture of mollusks, a steady biohydrochemical complex with increased organic matter content has been formed, in which the meiobenthos community was represented by a rather complete set of taxonomic groups of low population density. There were 16 groups (order, class) of the meiobenthos revealed, and the greatest population density was recorded in the central part of the bay under installations with suspended mollusks, (333000 ind./m2). Nematodes dominated in the eumeiobenthos; however, crustaceans prevailed in the bottom water layer and sediments at stations with increased oxygen content. Bivalves and gastropods dominated in the pseudomeiobenthos. Correlation analysis has revealed the dependence of the population density of the total meiobenthos and eumeiobenthos on the type of ground. There were 42 nematode species revealed; Axonolaimus seticaudatus, Enoplolaimus medius, Daptonema sp., Paracomesoma sp., and Oncholaimium paraolium dominated. Three nematode taxocens were discriminated by dominating species in the population density and results of cluster analysis of the data. Detritivorous nematodes prevailed in all types of ground. A correlation was found between the index of species diversity of nematodes and the content of organic carbon in the ground.  相似文献

An interesting feature of this study of Oystercatcher foods and feeding habits is the growth and spread of inland feeding, which the authors consider to be a recently acquired habit. 根据2003年1月至12月在胶州湾所获得的浮游生物样品,已鉴定浮游桡足类28种,幼虫、幼体6类.分析了该海区浮游桡足类的分布﹑时空变化及其与生态环境因子的关系,同相关历史资料进行了比较,结果表明,浮游桡足类的种类组成单纯,生态属性以暖温带、近岸低盐种类为主.浮游桡足类的丰度分布具明显的月份变化,高峰在7月份,为181.61个/m3,最低在12月份,为23.53个/m3,全年平均为71.42个/m3.浮游桡足类丰度的平面分布不均匀,最大丰度在5号站,为132.62个/m3,最小丰度在8号站,为40.45个/m3,丰度平面分布的变化趋势基本是湾北部海域大于湾南部海域.浮游桡足类丰度的时空分布,主要种类的季节更替,近20a来的变化趋势基本相同,高峰出现时间的差异,是受温度年季变化差异因素的影响.浮游桡足类丰度的时空分布与海水温度和盐度密切相关,与温度的关系更重要于与盐度的关系.并且用胶州湾的调察资料证实了浮游桡足类对浮游植物的依存关系,浮游植物为浮游桡足类的生长、繁衍提供了饵料.  相似文献

Vibrio vulnificus is a potentially lethal human pathogen capable of producing septicemia in susceptible persons. Disease is almost always associated with consumption of seafood, particularly raw oysters, or with exposure of wounds to seawater. An oligonucleotide DNA probe (V. vulnificus alkaline phosphatase-labeled DNA probe [VVAP]), previously shown to be highly specific for V. vulnificus, was used to enumerate this species in environmental samples collected from the Chesapeake Bay between April 1991 and December 1992. Total aerobic, heterotrophic, culturable bacteria were enumerated by plate counts on nonselective medium. The number of V. vulnificus organisms was determined by colony lifts of spread plates for subsequent hybridization with VVAP. V. vulnificus was not detected in any samples collected during February and March (water temperature of < 8 degrees C) but was found in 80% of the water samples collected during May, July, September, and December (water temperature of > 8 degrees C), with concentrations ranging from 3.0 x 10(1) to 2.1 x 10(2)/ml (ca. 8% of the total culturable heterotrophic bacteria). In a multiple regression analysis, increased V. vulnificus concentrations were correlated with lower salinities and with isolation from samples collected closer to the bottom. Isolation from oysters was demonstrable when water temperatures were 7.6 degrees C, with concentrations ranging from 1.0 x 10(3) to 4.7 x 10(4)/g (ca. 12% of total culturable bacteria). In samples collected in May and July, V. vulnificus was identified in seven of seven plankton samples and four of nine sediment samples. Our data demonstrate that V. vulnificus is a widespread and important component of the bacterial population of the Chesapeake Bay, with counts that are comparable to those reported from the Gulf of Mexico.  相似文献

The gradual deepening of the subsurface maximumfrom inshore to offshore waters coincides with the deepeningof the thermocline Significant correlation between the depthof the subsurface chlorophyll maximum and depth of thermoclinesuggests that the formation of the subsurface maximum is influencedby the presence of seasonal thermocline. Further the subsurfacechlorophyll maximum is noticed within the depth ranges of ammoniummaximum and intracline, suggesting the regenerated nutrientsmay also extend a more important influence on the subsurfacemaxima. The presence of chlorophyll b and a high ratio of chlorophylla/phaeopigments in the subsurface layers substantiates the formationof the subsurface maximum due to growth of the photosyntheticallyactive phytoplanlkton community  相似文献

Annual changes in gonadal maturation of female Japanese eel Anguilla japonica in sea water were investigated histologically over 5 years in the Mikawa Bay, Japan, where they occurred throughout the year except in March. Almost all immature Japanese eels (yellow eels) occurred mainly from April to September, and they were rare after November. In contrast, maturing Japanese eels (silver eels) occurred from October to February. The gonado‐somatic index ( I G) and oocyte diameters of yellow eels were <1·0 and 150 μm, respectively, and oocytes were at the peri‐nucleolus or the oil droplet stages. The I G and oocyte diameters of silver eels were greater than those of yellow eels and most oocytes developed to the primary yolk globule stage. The numbers of silver eels lacking oocytes at the primary yolk globule stage increased after January in Mikawa Bay, although I G and oocyte diameters remained unchanged. In contrast, silver eels caught at the mouth of the bay in January possessed oocytes that had advanced to the secondary yolk globule stage. These observations indicate that oocyte development changes seasonally, especially after winter in Mikawa Bay.  相似文献
