The presence of P. primaurelia, P. biaurelia, P. triaurelia, and P. novaurelia of the P. aurelia complex was revealed in the studied region of Russia. RAPD-PCR fingerprints (band patterns) of newly identified P. novaurelia strains from Russia were compared to those characteristic for the other chosen European strains of the species. The strains revealed intraspecific polymorphism as several groups of genotypes confirming the existence of polymorphism within P. novaurelia.  相似文献

Four species of the Paramecium aurelia complex were found in the studied territory (Klodzko Basin) of the Middle Sudetes in Poland, i.e. Paramecium primaurelia, P. biaurelia, P. tetraurelia and P. novaurelia . Of these, P. biaurelia and P. novaurelia appeared with greater frequency than P. primaurelia . Both species dominated over P. primaurelia in the number of determined habitats, as well as in the number of examined clones. Paramecium tetraurelia was rare in the area, being found in only one habitat.  相似文献

A stand of Paramecium novaurelia was found in Boston Massachusetts, USA, the first on this continent. Molecular studies (RAPD and sequencing ofrRNA [3'SSUrRNA-ITS1, 5' LSU rRNA] and COI mtDNA fragments) of P. novaurelia strains show intra-specific polymorphism within the species as strain clusters characterized by variable relationships.  相似文献

The presence of several species of the P. aurelia complex was revealed in the studied regions. In the Volgograd region P. primaurelia, P. biaurelia, P. triaurelia, and P. novaurelia were recorded. In the Astrakhan Nature Reserve P. primaurelia, P. pentaurelia, P. sexaurelia, and P. septaurelia were identified. Among these species, P. septaurelia was recorded for the first time in Europe, known before only from the territory of the USA, P. pentaurelia and P. sexaurelia are species rare in Europe. The studied regions are very rich in species of the P. aurelia complex and worthy of future studies.  相似文献

In the samples collected on the territory of the recently studied region of the Eastern Carpathians, i.e. in the Gorgany Mts, the presence of P. novaurelia was recorded in the samples collected from the bog situated on the Jablonica Pass at an altitude of 100 m. This is the first record of the presence of P. novaurelia in the Gorgany Mts.  相似文献

Four species of the Paramecium aurelia complex were found in the Carpathian chain: P. primaurelia, P. biaurelia, P. tetraurelia and P. novaurelia. However, variation in the frequency of settlement of these species in the region was observed; P. biaurelia and P. novaurelia appeared with the greatest frequency, P. Primaurelia occurred less frequently. while P. tetraurelia was rather rare being found only in the Tatras.  相似文献

Intracellular bacteria of the genus Caedibacter limit the reproduction of their host, the freshwater ciliate Paramecium. Reproduction rates of infected strains of paramecia were significantly lower than those of genetically identical strains that had lost their parasites after treatment with an antibiotic. Interference competition occurs when infected paramecia release a toxic form of the parasitic bacterium that kills uninfected paramecia. In mixed cultures of infected and uninfected strains of either P tetraurelia or of P novaurelia, the infected strains outcompeted the uninfected strains. Infection of new host paramecia seems to be rare. Infection of new hosts was not observed in either mixtures of infected with uninfected strains, or after incubation of paramecia with isolated parasites. The competitive advantages of the host paramecia, in combination with their vegetative reproduction, makes infection of new hosts by the bacterial parasites unnecessary, and could be responsible for the continued existence of "killer paramecia" in nature. Caedibacter parasites are not a defensive adaptation. Feeding rates and reproduction of the predators Didinium nasutum (Ciliophora) and Amoeba proteus (Amoebozoa, Gymnamoebia) were not influenced by whether or not their paramecia prey were infected. Infection of the predators frequently occurred when they preyed on infected paramecia. Caedibacter-infected predators may influence competition between Paramecium strains by release of toxic parasites into the environment that are harmful to uninfected strains.  相似文献

Species of the diatom genus Pseudo-nitzschia are common in the marine phytoplankton world-wide. Some species of this genus have been proved to be source of domoic acid (DA), a powerful toxin causing Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning (ASP) in humans and probably mass mortality in sea birds and mammals. Net plankton samples obtained during several cruises and seasons from the Pacific coasts of Mexico: western coasts of Baja California, Gulf of California, coasts of the tropical Pacific of Mexico (including the Gulf of Tehuantepec), were analyzed to study the species of the diatom genus Pseudo-nitzschia. Four species ( P. australis, a presumed toxic species, P. fraudulenta, P. lineola, P. pungens) and one former species of the genus, Nitzschia americana were recorded and studied by light and electron microscopy. The most common species was P. pungens, widely distributed along the Pacific coasts of Mexico. All other species appeared occasionally and in low relative abundances. The probable misidentification of P. australis as P. seriata is discussed, as well as the presence of another potentially toxic species, P. delicatissima, in the Gulf of California. No case of toxicity (ASP) has been fully documented and therefore related to toxic Pseudo-nitzschia species in the Gulf of California. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Abstract. The Pollenia viatica species-group ( =pallida species-group) is defined and described. It consists of P.bicolor Robineau-Desvoidy, P.bulgarica Jacentkovsk, P.fulvipalpis Macquart, P.mediterranea Grunin, P.ruficrura Rondani, stat.rev., P.viatica Robineau-Desvoidy, stat.rev. (= P.pallida Rodendorf, syn.n.) and P.ponti sp.n. It is mono-phyletic, mainly on the basis of a synapomorphic ovipositor tip, and the vagabunda species-group is its sister group. A key to all species is provided, the terminalia of both sexes illustrated and all taxa redescribed. Lectotypes are designated for Pollenia bisulca Pandellé, P.ruficrura Rondani and P.viatica Robineau-Desvoidy. Pollenia ruficrura is removed from its current status as a nomen dubium. Pollenia bicolor and P.ponti are western Mediterranean species, the latter also occurs in Czechoslovakia. P.fulvipalpis is endemic to France and Channel Islands. P.ruficrura is known only from Corsica and Italy. P.mediterranea is an eastern Mediterranean species reaching east to Armenia. P.bulgarica is distributed from Hungary to Caucasus. P.viatica is widespread from France, Great Britain and Southern Scandinavia to Central Asia. All species are summer or autumn species, and seem to have only one generation each year. The immature stages and life-cycle of a species from Paris, France, named 'Pollenia rudis' by Keilin (1909, 1915) are tentatively assigned to P. viatica . It survives the winter as a first instar larva within the earthworm Allolobophora chlorotica Savigny.  相似文献

The taxonomical concept of the Paeonia suffruticosa complex i.e. Sect. Moutan Subsect. Vaginatae, has changed greatly since 1990. Six species and four subspecies have been described as new and two subspecies raised to specific level. Five species and two subspecies are recognized in the present revision, viz. P. suffruticosa subsp. suffruticosa and subsp. yinpingmudan, P. jishanensis, P. qiui, P. ostii, P. rockii subsp. rockii and subsp. taibaishanica. P. yananensis, P. ridleyi, P. spontanea, P. moutan subsp. atava, P. suffruticosa subsp. atava, P. rockii subsp. linyanshanii and P. ostii var. lishizhenii are treated as synonyms. P. papaveracea and P. baokangensis are proposed to be interspecific hybrids. A key to the recognized species and subspecies is provided. Biological features of the species are described and their distributions are mapped. The relationships between species are inferred and the origins of commonly cultivated tree peonies ( P. suffruticosa and P. ostii ) are discussed.  相似文献

Deep-sea Pedicythere species which had been earlier considered as pan-abyssal in distribution are shown to be composite species including similar, but separate species in the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic oceans. Morphology and distribution of Pedicythere are analysed. A key to well-described Cenozoic species and forms in open nomenclature which are referred to Pedicythere is presented, together with an annotated checklist of species. Five new species of Pedicythere are described from the South China Sea: P. hirundo sp. nov., P. gibbera sp. nov., P. dentata sp. nov., P. arator sp. nov. and P. nivea sp. nov.  相似文献

Abstract. A rudis species-group is defined within Pollenia Robineau-Desvoidy, and new characters found useful in the taxonomy of this genus are presented. P.rudis (Fabricius), P.angustigena Wainwright, stat.rev. and P.pseudorudis Rognes are redescribed. P.hungarica sp.n., P.longitheca sp.n. and P.luteovillosa sp.n. are described as new to science. A key is provided, and the terminalia of both sexes are illustrated for all the species. Some features of the puparia are figured for the species where these are known. A neotype is designated for Musca rudis , and a lectotype for P.angustigena. P.angustigena, P.pseudorudis and P.rudis are Holarctic species, and the latter two have also been found in New Zealand. The remaining species are confined to the western Palaearctic. P.hungarica is known from central Europe, including southern parts of Scandinavia, P.longitheca from the eastern Mediterranean, and P.luteovillosa from Algeria and Morocco in North Africa. In the larval stages P. rudis group members are parasites of or predators on earthworms. The species have several generations each year, and normally overwinter as adults. Eisenia rosea (Savigny) serves as a host for P.hungarica, P.pseudorudis and P.rudis according to the reared material available. A previous detailed account of the immature stages and life-cycle of lsquo;rudis' from North America is tentatively assigned to pseudorudis. Keilin's (1909,1915) often cited accounts of the immature stages and life-cycle of a species called 'rudis' are rejected as a source of information for any member of the rudis group.  相似文献

A historical review of the systematics of Paracanthonchus caecus (Bastian, 1865) and a comparison of specimens from different localities show that this "species" in fact comprises four distinct species. Paracanthonchus caecus Micoletzky, 1924 nec P. caecus (Bastian, 1865) is designated as the valid type species of the genus Paracanthonchus. P. heterodontus (Schulz, 1932) and P. thaumasius (Schulz, 1932) are re-established. P. caecm sensu Gerlach 1965 is considered as a distinct species: P. gerlachi sp.n. P. canadensis sp.n. is described and is very close to P. caecus Micoletzky, 1924. The subspecies P. caecus opthalmophorus (Steiner, 1921), different from the typical caecus by the presence of ocelli, is considered as a different species; we therefore propose P.ophthalmophorus (Steiner, 1921) stat.n. The genus Paracanthonchus is redefined.  相似文献

An identification key to 63 species of Pratylenchus is given. A compendium of the most diagnostic characters to be used directly in identification of species is included as a practical alternative and supplement to the key. P. tenuis, P. similis, P. impar, P. ranjani, and P. neocapitatus are recognized as valid species on the basis of study of type specimens. P. hyderabadensis Singh &Gill, 1986 is synonymized with P. dasi Fortuner, 1985. P. hexincisus Taylor &Jenkins, 1957 is confirmed as occasionally having 4 -6 lines in lateral field (instead of 6 only). Comments on the status of some species and a list of species of the genus are given.  相似文献

Abstract. 1. Field and published data reveal that there are at least twenty-three species of phytophagous insects associated with Prunus padus L. in Britain. Most of these species occur on the tree between May and September. Interspecific competition does not appear to be severe.
2. There are a total of 196 species of phytophagous insects feeding upon the various tissues of P. avium, P. cerasifera, P. cerasus, P. domestica, P. laurocerasus, P. padus and P. spinosa.
3. A highly significant species (5)-distribution (A) relationship of the form In (S+l)=0.92 In A-2.19, was obtained for the Prunus species examined within Britain (excluding Ireland), i.e. the wider the distribution of the plant the greater the number of insect species associated with it.
4. However, critical analysis of the data indicate that P. padus does not support as many different insect species as expected.
5. Neither plant form nor age of establishment within the British Isles accounted for this discrepancy.
6. The possibility of using a plant's insect fauna to describe its relationship to other plants in the same genus is discussed.  相似文献

Species of the genus Pellia are similar to such an extent that their proper recognition based on morphological and anatomical features is difficult. To solve this problem isozyme methods were developed. As a result of these studies new cryptic species were recognized and new hypotheses concerning phylogenetic relationship in Pellia were formed. To examine hypotheses derived from isozyme data we decided to study species of the genus Pellia at the DNA level. Total DNA from all Polish Pellia species was isolated. The taxonomic and phylogenetic relationships in Pellia were examined using intergenic spacer sequences between nuclear tRNA(Leu) genes organised in tandem arrays. PCR (polymerase chain reaction) amplification of tRNA(Leu) gene spacers produced fragments of different sizes in all species and their restriction analysis showed species-specific patterns. PCR products were cloned and sequenced. Nucleotide sequence data were used for phylogenetic reconstruction. Sequence analysis confirmed previous results based on isozyme studies that P. endiviifolia- species A and species B as well as P. epiphylla- species S and species N (having different isozyme multilocus genotypes) are separate sibling species. Our results also confirmed the allopolyploid character of the only polyploid species in Pellia, P. borealis which was formed by hybridization of P. epiphylla- species N and P. epiphylla- species S cryptic species.  相似文献

The genus Pachyrhizus is revised in order to establish the distribution of the species and their variation. Three species in cultivation ( P. erosus, P. tuberosus and P. ahipa ) and two species only occurring in the wild ( P. ferrugineus and P. panamensis ) are recognized. P. strigosus is considered conspecific with P. erosus . All the infraspecific taxa proposed by Clausen are considered untenable. The new combination P. ferrugineus is made for what was previously know as P. vernalis .  相似文献
