The new species Chaenothecopsis khayensis (Ascomycota, Mycocaliciaceae) is described from Ghana, western Africa, on the resin of Khaya anthotheca and K. ivorensis. The species is distinctive in forming asci without crosiers and in possessing ascospores that are faintly longitudinally striate. Analysis of large subunit rDNA gene sequences positioned this species within a clade corresponding to the Mycocaliciales and identified its closest relative as Sphinctrina leucopoda. Chaenothecopsis khayensis occurs commonly on resin exuding from trees damaged by the larvae of the mahogany shoot borer (Hypsipyla sp.), and we discuss the possible ecological relationship between the fungus and these moths.  相似文献

An anamorph of Chaenothecopsis viridireagens occurring in the field is reported. It is coelomycetous and the conidiomata are formed on stalks which often branch to form tree-like complexes. Similar structures are formed in axenic cultures. This anamorph is compared to anarnorphs of other Chaenothecopsis species. In cultures a hyphomy-cetous anamorph was also formed.  相似文献

The new species Chaenothecopsis nigripunctata (Mycocaliciaceae, Ascomycota) is described from western North America. The fungus grows on resin and wetwood of Tsuga heterophylla in moist temperate forests. It differs from its relatives in the regular production of polycephalic ascomata with contiguous capitula. The species is further characterized by a well-developed mazaedium. An unevenly thickened epithecium acts to compartmentalize the mazaedium into several columns per apothecial disk. Dark spore masses against the pale epithecium give the fungus a highly distinctive, elegant appearance. This species is not easily accommodated in Chaenothecopsis in a traditional sense but it is placed in this genus pending a better understanding of relationships within the Mycocaliciaceae.  相似文献

Chaenothecopsis quintralis from southwestern Argentina is described and illustrated as a new species in the family Mycocaliciaceae. It has been found in three localities in the Andean Patagonian temperate forests, growing strictly on dung of an endemic marsupial Dromiciops gliroides. The new species is distinguished by the hemispherical, black capitulum of ascoma, the presence of asci with croziers, one-celled brown ascospores, and its fimicolous habitat. Analysis of partial nuclear large subunit rDNA (LSU) sequences showed that this taxon is within Mycocaliciales.  相似文献

Chaenothecopsis consociata regularly is lichenized withDictyochloropsis symbiontica, nova spec., a member of theChlorococcales. During early developmentChaenothecopsis consociata possibly parasitizes onChaenotheca chrysocephala.Dictyochloropsis symbiontica is characterized by its hollow spherical chloroplast which consists of a complex threedimensional network, the absence of a pyrenoid, and the possession of one central nucleus. It reproduces by autospores as well as by zoo- and aplanospores.

Five new species of Crotonia from New Zealand ( C. cervicorna, C. cupulata, C. longibulbula, C. tuberculata and C. reticulata ) are described as new, and two species ( C. cophinana (Michael 1908) and C. caudatis (Hammer 1966)) are redescribed. Three new species of Centella series Glabratae are described in this paper: C. brachycarpa, C. dolichocarpa and C. pilosa. These species are similar to C. difformis , and in order to clarify species limits the latter is also described and illustrated. The fruit shape and the bulging commissure of the new species show that the sectional limits of the series Glabratae will have to be revised to include C. difformis and related species, previously associated with the series Montanae.  相似文献

Six species of Hypselodoris and three species of Chromodoris axe described from the coast of East Africa. Three species of Hypselodoris and one species of Chromodoris are new species. Two species of Chromodoris from the tropical West Pacific are also described. The eleven species fall into three groups of similarly coloured species.
Hypselodoris nigrostriata and a new species of Hypselodoris are compared with H. infucata, H. festiva, H. obscura and two unnamed species from the literature. It is concluded that all these are distinct species.
H. nigrolineata and two new species, are compared with H. lineata and H. hilaris and all are considered distinct.
H. regina, Chromodoris quadricolor, C. africana, C. elisabethina, C. magnified and a new species of Chromodoris, are compared with C. westraliensis and two unnamed species from the literature. All these species are considered distinct.
All other names for forms falling into these three colour groups are considered synonyms of one or other of the above named species. Full synonymies are given.  相似文献

Chorigyne is described as a new genus, characterized by distichous leaves with bifid lamina, free pistillate flowers, four subapical placentas, and fusiform seeds. It is most closely related to Sphaeradenia and Stelestylis. The generic relationships, and the restricted distribution of Chorigyne in Costa Rica and Panama, are discussed. Five species are described as new, viz. C. densiflora, C. pterophylla, C. paucinervis, C. cylindrica , and C. tumescens. Furthermore, two new combinations are made, viz. C. ensiformis and C. pendula. A key to the species is given, each species is described, and the new ones are illustrated.  相似文献

Six new species of dobsonflies (Megaloptera: Corydalidae: Corydalinae) from Venezuela are described and illustrated, two in the Neotropical genus Chloronia and four within the New World genus Corydalus. Chloronia contains 15 previously described species. The new species Chloronia gaianii and C. marthae, each from the southern tepui and Andean regions, appear to be most closely related to C. hieroglyphica (Rambur) and C. mirifica Navás, respectively. Corydalus contains 30 previously described species. The new species Corydalus clavijoi, of Andean affinity, appears most closely related to C. tesselatus Stitz; C. crossi, from Auyán-tepuí, might be closely related to C. nubilus Erichson; and both C. hayashii and C. mayri, from westernmost Guayana Shield area and Aracamuni tepuis, respectively, clearly belong in the distinct and monophyletic C. arpi Navás species group. Keys for identification of the Venezuelan species of both genera are provided.  相似文献
