The Ternstroemiaceae is a family of vascular plants with many taxonomic problems, basically in the delimitation of some of its species. Little is known about its world distribution and about the real state of conservation of its species. An analysis of the distribution patterns of the Mexican species was undertaken to provide information about the present status of species and possible conservation areas. Also, an analysis of the species richness, endemism centres, extension and location of the areas occupied by these species with a 1:50000 chart index was made. Finally, we propose some of the species of this family to be included in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and in the next Mexican Norma Oficial Mexicana 059.  相似文献

Sporogenesis and gametogenesis in the monotypic genus Sladenia is reported for the first time. The anther wall is of the monocotyledonous type of formation and consists of four-layers, namely a glandular tapetum, one middle layer, an endothecium, and an epidermis. Fibrous thickenings are developed in the epidermis at or near the stage of anther maturity rather than in the endothecium. Successive cytokinesis in microsporogenesis results in tetrahedral or rarely isobilateral tetrads of microspores. Pollen grains are two-celled when shed. The ovule is bitegmic, tenuinucellate, and anatropous. The nucellus degenerates during meiosis of the megaspore mother cell. The micropyle is formed by only the inner integument. Development of the female gametophyte conforms to the Adoxa type. Sladenia has been treated either as a member of Actinidiaceae, Dilleniaceae or Theaceae s.l. , or as belonging to an independent family, Sladeniaceae. Recent molecular studies have suggested that it belongs to Ternstroemiaceae within the Ericales s.l . Several noteworthy embryological characters are distinct from those of the other putatively related families and support the recognition of a separate family, Sladeniaceae. Classifications of Theaceae have usually placed the endangered monotypic genus Apterosperma in tribe Schimeae (x=18), whereas recent molecular phylogenetic evidence supports its transfer to tribe Theeae (x=15). Molecular data have not resolved the phylogenetic position of Apterosperma within Theeae. We investigated the chromosome number and karyotype of Apterosperma in the context of molecular and morphological phylogenetic evidence to provide further insight into the placement of Apterosperma within Theaceae. The chromosome number and karyotype was found to be 2n = 30 = 26m + 4sm, consistent with the transfer of Apterosperma to tribe Theeae. When the chromosome data were incorporated into a data set of 46 other nonmolecular characters, Apterosperma was placed as the first-diverging lineage within the clade comprising tribe Theeae. This supports its placement based on molecular data. The low intrachromosomal asymmetry (type 1A) of Apterosperma, presumably ancestral for the family, is also consistent with this placement. Character optimization strongly supports a base chromosome number of x=15 for tribe Theeae. Because of variable and sometimes conflicting chromosome count reports of species in tribes Schimeae and Stewartieae, the base chromosome number of Theaceae could be either x=15 or 17.  相似文献

借助光学显微镜、扫描电镜和透射电镜对五列木科Pentaphylacaceae和肋果茶科Sladeniaceae花粉进行了观察,并与山茶科Theaceae若干属的花粉进行了详细的比较,同时参考了猕猴桃科Actinidiaceae的花粉特征。研究表明,肋果茶科的花粉与山茶科的花粉具有较多的相似性,如其形状和大小与山茶科中厚皮香亚科的几乎一致;而花粉的表面纹饰(粗糙至模糊的皱波状纹饰)则与山茶属,Freziera属和厚皮香亚科部分属的花粉纹饰相类似。从花粉外壁的结构看,肋果茶的花粉与石笔木属和山茶属的更接近,表现为:花粉外壁层次分化明显,复盖层和柱状层均较厚,外壁内层薄。而五列木科花粉除了形状和萌发孔类型与山茶科的相似外,其纹饰特征和外壁结构均与山茶科的差异较大,如五列木科花粉表面近光滑,外壁覆盖层较簿,柱状层很不发达,外壁内层相对较厚等。孢粉学上认为,肋果茶科与山茶科具有更为密切的关系,五列木科则与山茶科较疏远。支持把肋果茶科作为一个属置于山茶科内或作为山茶科的一个亚科  相似文献

以[8-14C]标记的腺嘌呤和黄嘌呤为底物,对两种可以合成少量咖啡碱和茶叶碱的木荷属和柃木属植物(Schima mertensiana,Eurya japonica)叶片的嘌呤代谢进行了检测研究。发现木荷属和柃木属植物中嘌呤代谢相似,14C标记的腺嘌呤可以整合到嘌呤核苷酸、RNA、酰脲(包括尿囊素和尿囊酸)、二氧化碳中。经过24 h培养,在叶片吸收的放射能中,仅有6%~7%用于甲基黄嘌呤类化合物的合成(3-甲基黄嘌呤、7-甲基黄嘌呤核苷、7-甲基黄嘌呤、茶叶碱)。和其他植物一样,绝大多数14C标记的黄嘌呤整合到嘌呤的分解代谢物中(二氧化碳和酰脲),少量的放射能分布在3-甲基黄嘌呤及茶叶碱中。根据结果可以推断木荷属和柃木属植物具有N-甲基转移酶活性,可以用来合成咖啡碱和茶叶碱,相对于茶树而言,活性不高。综上,本文对木荷属和柃木属植物的嘌呤代谢以及嘌呤碱合成进行了研究。  相似文献

Species fromthe order “Theales” (Guttiferales) and from the Ericanae (Ebenales, Ericales, Primulales) have been examined using serological comparisons of sets of antigenic specifities (sets of determinants). The results suggest that only antigenic systems derived from species of the Theaceae and Actinidiaceae show serological correspondence of sufficient taxonomical significance towards representatives of Ericanae (except the Ebenaceae). Our results justify a scheme in which the Actinidiaceae and Theaceae occupy a central position with Styracaceae and Sapotaceae placed on one side and the families of the Ericales and Primulales occupying the other. Our serological results show no reason to justify the further existence of the “Theales”, if this is supposed to contain the Guttiferae, Dipterocarpaceae, and Ochnaceae. Further investigations on this will follow. We cannot agree with the recommendation of Takhtajan and Dahlgren to integrate the Actinidiaceae with the Ericales. We would rather place the family ner the Theaceae as most authors do.  相似文献

The chloroplast gene ndhF was used to study phylogenetic relationships of the Polemoniaceae at two levels: among members of the Ericales and among genera of the family. Sequence data for interfamilial analyses consisted of 2266 bp for 14 members of the Ericales, including four species of the Polemoniaceae, plus three outgroup taxa. The Polemoniaceae were found to be related to Diospyros, Fouquieria, the Primulales, Rhododendron, and Impatiens, but relationships among taxa were generally not well supported. The precise position of the Polemoniaceae within the Ericales remains obscure. Data for intrafamilial analyses consisted of 1031 bp for 27 species of the Polemoniaceae, including at least one species from most genera of the family, plus five outgroup taxa. A single most parsimonious tree was identified. The analyses suggested that subfamily Cobaeoideae, excluding Loeselia, is monophyletic and that Huthia is sister to Cantua. Acanthogilia was sister to the remainder of subfamily Cobaeoideae. Subfamily Polemonioideae plus Loeselia formed four subclades that were strongly supported as monophyletic and represent the major lineages of the subfamily.  相似文献

Two principal types of shoot apex are recognized, (1) the classical pyramidal apical cell of pteridophytes which does not divide periclinally, and so never contributes directly to the inner tissues of the axis, and (2) that of seed plants, in which there are one or more superposed initials of which the innermost contributes directly to inner tissues by periclinal divisions. The occurrence of these types in the major groups of living land plants is reviewed. The first type is present in ferns,Equisetum, Psilotum, Tmesipteris, Selaginella, and bryophytes (when apical growth occurs in them). The second type occurs in all angiosperms and gymnosperms, and also inLycopodium, Phylloglossum, Isoetes, andStylites. No exceptions nor intermediate conditions occur. Both types of apex are known in Carboniferous fossils, the first type in sphenopsids and the second in pteridosperms and cordaitean gymnosperms. These apices define two evolutionary lines of land plants which may have originated separately as sporophytes from ancestors with no diploid generation. Correlation of these types with the following features is considered: sieve-element inclusions; initiation of leaves and sporangia; the primary vascular system; embryogeny, the vascular cambium; initiation of lateral roots and the type of branching. Seed plants and pteropsids differ in respect of all these features, giving support to the hypothesis that the sporophytes of these two groups arose independently. KALKMAN, C., 1988. The phylogemy of the Rosaceae. A phylogenetic (cladistic) analysis of Rosaceae (excluding Chrysobalanaceae and Neuradaceae) is presented, based on the postulated direction of evolution in 14 morphological characters. Tribes or smaller groups, considered to be holophyletic, are taken as operational units. Three possible cladograms, made by hand, are presented and discussed. One of them is, within the limits of the method, selected as the most plausible image of real history, but this cladogram is not fully resolved and contains much homoplasy. Also presented is a fourth cladogram, produced by computer (CAFCA program); it is of about the same quality.
It is not justified to base drastic alterations in current classification on the weak phylogenetic hypothesis. For the time being it seems better not to recognize any subfamilies, but only a number of tribes.
It is hypothesized that the family originated in West Gondwana. A diagram is presented in which the most plausible cladogram is combined with the present distribution, clarifying the postulated routes of migration.
The sistergroup of Rosaceae is far from evident. The Cunoniaceae are considered to be the most plausible choice.  相似文献

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The objective of this study is to examine the palynological diversity of Balsaminaceae (two genera/+/-1000 species), Tetrameristaceae (two genera/two species) and Pellicieraceae (one genus/one species). The diversity found will be used to infer the systematic value of pollen features within the balsaminoid clade. METHODS: Pollen morphology and ultrastructure of 29 species, representing all families of the balsaminoid clade except Marcgraviaceae, are investigated by means of light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. KEY RESULTS: Balsaminaceae pollen is small to medium sized with three to four apertures, which can be either colpate or porate, and a sexine sculpturing varying from coarsely reticulate to almost microreticulate. Tetrameristaceae pollen is small sized, 3-colporate, with a heterobrochate reticulate sculpturing and granules present in the lumina. Pellicieraceae pollen is large sized, 3-colporate with long ectocolpi and a perforate sexine sculpturing with large verrucae. Furthermore, Pelliciera is characterized by the occurrence of aggregated orbicules, while orbicules are completely absent in both Balsaminaceae and Tetrameristaceae. Balsaminaceae pollen differs from the other balsaminoid families due to the occurrence of colpate or porate grains with an oblate to peroblate shape, a very thin foot layer and a lamellated endexine. CONCLUSIONS: From a pollen morphological point of view, Balsaminaceae are completely different from the other balsaminoid families. Therefore, no pollen morphological synapomorphies could be defined for the balsaminoid clade. However, various pollen features were observed that could indicate a possible relationship between Tetrameristaceae, Pellicieraceae and Marcgraviaceae. Despite the palynological similarities in the latter three families, it remains unclear to what extent they are related to each other.  相似文献

Molecular phylogeny of geminivirus infecting wild plants in Japan   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
Few studies have been made on the molecular divergence of plant viruses. To remedy this deficiency, we examined the molecular divergence of the tobacco leaf curl geminivirus (TLCV). TLCV infects not only tobacco but alsoEupatorium andLonicera in the field and causes yellow vein disease. A total of 29 nucleotide sequences of the replication protein gene (ORF C1) of geminiviruses infecting wild plants ofE. makinoi, E. glehni andL. japonica collected from ten localities was determined. Highly divergent sequences were obtained not only among host plant populations but also within a host population. Phylogenetic analyses showed that the TLCVs infectingEupatorium andLonicera were clustered into three different clades, and were either paraphyletic or polyphyletic. This result is the first evidence demonstrating that wild populations of single plant species possess genetically diversified virus strains. Comparison with recently reported genetic variations of tobacco mild green mosaic tobamovirus (TMGMV) revealed three characteristics of TLCV evolution: (1) a higher nucleotide substitution rate, (2) more frequent migration among geographically isolated host populations, and (3) more frequent host changes to different plant families. While TMGMV is an RNA virus, TLCV has DNA genomes. In animal viruses, RNA viruses tend to evolve faster than DNA viruses. Our results indicated that this trend may not hold for plant viruses.  相似文献

Premise

Recent studies of floral disparity in the asterid order Ericales have shown that flowers vary strongly among families and that disparity is unequally distributed between the three flower modules (perianth, androecium, gynoecium). However, it remains unknown whether these patterns are driven by heterogeneous rates of morphological evolution or other factors.

Methods

Here, we compiled a data set of 33 floral characters scored for 414 species of Ericales sampled from 346 genera and all 22 families. We conducted ancestral state reconstructions using an equal-rates Markov model for each character. We estimated rates of morphological evolution for Ericales and for a separate angiosperm-wide data set of 19 characters and 792 species, creating “rate profiles” for Ericales, angiosperms, and major angiosperm subclades. We compared morphological rates among flower modules within each data set separately and between data sets, and we compared rates among angiosperm subclades using the angiosperm data set.

Results

The androecium exhibits the highest evolutionary rates across most characters, whereas most perianth and gynoecium characters evolve more slowly in both Ericales and angiosperms. Both high and low rates of morphological evolution can result in high floral disparity in Ericales. Analyses of an angiosperm-wide floral data set reveal that this pattern appears to be conserved across most major angiosperm clades.

Conclusions

Elevated rates of morphological evolution in the androecium of Ericales may explain the higher disparity reported for this floral module. Comparing rates of morphological evolution through rate profiles proves to be a powerful tool in understanding floral evolution.  相似文献

The plasma membrane is most likely the major target for sensing of aluminium (Al), leading to inhibition of plant root-growth. As a result of high external Al, alterations in plasma membrane composition may be expected in order to maintain its properties. As sphingolipids are characteristic components of this membrane, their involvement in membrane adjustment to increased Al concentrations was investigated. Heterologous expression of a stereounselective long-chain base (LCB) (8E/Z)-desaturase from Arabidopsis thaliana, Brassica napus and Helianthus annuus in Saccharomyces cerevisiae improved the Al resistance of the transgenic yeast cells. This encouraged us to investigate whether Al affects the LCB composition, and whether genetic engineering of the LCB profile modifies the Al resistance of the Al-sensitive plant species maize (Zea mays, L.). Constitutive expression of the LCB (8E/Z)-desaturase from Arabidopsis thaliana in maize roots led to an 8- to 10-fold increase in (8E)-4-hydroxysphing-8-enine in total roots. Less marked but similar changes were observed in 3 mm root apices. Al treatment of the Al-sensitive maize cv Lixis resulted in a significant increase in the proportion of (8Z)-LCB and in the content of total LCBs in root tips, which was not observed in the Al-resistant cv ATP-Y. When root tips of transgenic plants were exposed to Al, only minor changes of both (8Z)- and (8E)-unsaturated LCBs as well as of the total LCB were observed. Al treatment of the wild type parental line H99 decreased the (8Z)-unsaturated LCBs and the total LCB content. Based on Al-induced callose production, a marker for Al sensitivity, the parental line H99 was as Al-resistant as cv ATP-Y, whereas the transgenic line became as sensitive as cv Lixis. Taken together, these data suggest that, in particular, the loss of the ability to down-regulate the proportion of (8Z)-unsaturated LCBs may be related to increased Al sensitivity.  相似文献

In a series of specimens extending from fossil material through recent vertebrates including man there occurs a gradual phylogenetic increase in the degree of humeral torsion. A further (ontogenetic) torsion is superimposed upon the phylogenetic one in man which increases from birth until the proximal epiphysial cartilage of the humerus disappears and bony fusion occurs. There is a distinct correlation between the calculated strength of humeral rotator muscles inserting above and below the proximal epiphysis; this suggests that they provide the forces involved in the production of humeral torsion. It is shown that ontogenetic or secondary torsion occurs proximally and not along the shaft of the bone. Differences in the degree of humeral torsion in either sex of adult Whites and Negroes are given and discussed.  相似文献

植物物候通常被认为是由环境因素,如降水、温度和日照长度所决定,然而环境因素是否是物候唯一的决定因素仍然存在很大争议。谱系结构表征了植物在进化上的顺序,该发育时序是否对物候产生影响,当前仍然未知。在调查2016年春季新疆乌鲁木齐市最常见的31种木本植物的初始开花时间、败花时间和开花持续时间的基础上,通过分析植物开花物候的分布特征、开花物候在乔灌木间的差别、以及植物谱系距离与开花物候距离间的关系,试图揭示植物的开花物候和物种谱系(进化)顺序间的关系。结果表明:(1)新疆乌鲁木齐市31种木本植物的初始开花时间为4月18日±9d、败花时间为5月5日±12d、开花持续时间为(16±8)d;(2)乔木的初始开花时间和败花时间的标准差分别均低于灌木,乔木开花物候相对灌木更稳定;(3)乔木的初始开花和败花时间均显著早于灌木(P0.05),但开花持续时间在两者间未有显著性差异(P0.05);(3)31种木本植物间的初始开花时间距离、败花时间距离和开花持续时间距离均与物种谱系距离存在显著线性回归关系(P0.05)。综上可知:乔灌木在垂直空间上的分化使得木本植物的开花物候在植物生活型间存在不同。对植物的开花物候,除已被证明的降水、温度和日照长度等环境因素的影响外,物种进化顺序也可能造成了它在植物种间、时间和空间上的变异。  相似文献
