Reexamination and molecular phylogenetic analyses of American Terfezia species and Mattirolomyces tiffanyae revealed that their generic assignments were wrong. Therefore we here propose these combinations: Mattirolomyces spinosus comb. nov. (≡ Terfezia spinosa), Stouffera longii gen. & comb. nov. (≡ Terfezia longii) and Temperantia tiffanyae gen. & comb. nov. (≡ Mattirolomyces tiffanyae). In addition we describe a new species, Mattirolomyces mexicanus spec. nov. All species belong to the Pezizaceae. Based on these results Terfezia is not known from North America, Mattirolomyces is represented by two species and two new monotypic genera are present.  相似文献

The truffle, Mattirolomyces terfezioides, is a hypogeous ascomycete with uncertain host relationships. The fungus has been regularly collected on sandy soils in the Carpathian Basin. During the study of the natural host plants of the fungus, strange, amorphous, belowground hyphal aggregates incorporating soil and sand particles have been found attached to the surface of the roots. The fruitbodies of M. terfezioides develop from these hyphal aggregates. This structure, similar to that formed by morels, could be interpreted as a sclerotium. Sclerotia were found both on roots of woody and herbaceous plants. To detect the roots colonized by M. terfezioides, a species-specific polymerase chain reaction was developed. Seven natural hosts of the fungus were identified by this method. No specificity regarding taxa or life form of the plants was found. The colonization of the roots by the septate hyphae of M. terfezioides was weak, particularly compared to the colonization by arbuscular–mycorrhizal fungi. This suggests that this fungus is not the dominant fungal partner of these plants. Therefore, using M. terfezioides as the only inoculum may be inappropriate in truffle cultivation experiments. Nevertheless, further in vitro experiments are needed to develop reliable knowledge on the still ambiguous symbiotic strategy of this fungus.  相似文献

A new species of hypogeous Pezizales, Mattirolomyces tiffanyae, is described and illustrated. Its asci are typically three-spored, an unusually small number in the non-Tuber Pezizales. Ascus septal pore ultrastructure consists of a uni- or bi-convex band, which suggests an affinity with the Pezizaceae. Secondary spore-wall development is similar to that of Peziza, and several species of hypogeous Pezizaceae.  相似文献

Summary  Corticioid fungi from the Kimberley Region of Western Australia are reviewed. 31 species are reported, of which five, Aleurodiscus kimberleyanus, Athelopsis vesicularis, Dendrothele cornivesiculosa, Hyphoderma tubulicystidium, and Phanerochaete subcrassispora are described as new. Grandinia glauca is given the new combination Grammothele glauca, and Hydnum investiens the new combination Phanerochaete investiens. A further eight species are recorded which have not previously been reported from Australia.  相似文献

Evidence from several sources shows that Psilanthus is a synonym of Coffea. In order to finalize the taxonomic placement of Psilanthus within Coffea a new combination is necessary for the type species of Psilanthus, P. mannii. The combination Coffea mannii is made here. The diploid chromosome number for the EuropeanLinum hologynum and the haploid number for the AustralianL. monogynum is 42 and appears to establish a new and distinctive base number for sect.Linum. The possession by these two species and by the AustralianL. marginale of multiporate pollen and united styles, a unique combination of features in sect.Linum, may warrant the establishment of a new subsection in that section to accommodate the three species.  相似文献

The main patterns of the intraspecific (intrapopulational and ontogenetic) variability of the P. intermedium leaves are established. The taxonomy and systematics of European house spiders, currently constituting the ill‐defined Tegenaria?Malthonica complex (including Aterigena) in the family Agelenidae, are revised. In Europe four monophyletic genera and 81 species are defined. One genus, Eratigena gen. nov. , and seven species are described as new; at species level 17 new synonyms and 20 new combinations are proposed, and the original combination of 14 species is reinstated. Five species could not be placed (incertae sedis) because of insufficient material and one taxon is regarded as ‘nomen dubium’. On the basis of a detailed morphological assessment, 88 characters were chosen for a cladistic analysis. Phylogenetically informative characters include mostly spination patterns as well as spinneret and genital structures. In addition to morphology, three gene sections [cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (CO1), nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide dehydrogenase subunit 1 (NADH1) 28S] were analysed. Morphological and molecular analyses were performed individually and in combination applying maximum parsimony and Bayesian tree search methods. In all resulting trees Malthonica and Tegenaria in their present composition are either polyphyletic or paraphyletic. Consequently, we redefined the two genera and erected a new genus, Eratigena gen. nov. Identification keys are provided for the European agelenid genera as well as for the European species of Tegenaria and Eratigena gen. nov. The genera and most of the constituent species are described and illustrated. The new classification has also been applied to some extra European members of the Tegenaria‐Malthonica complex resulting in additional three new synonyms, seven reversals to the original combination, and four new combinations. © 2013 The Linnean Society of London  相似文献

The genus Dendrokingstonia (Annonaceae) is taxonomically revised and palynologically studied. Three species are recognized, one of which, D. gardneri , is described as new to science. One new combination, D. acuminata , is made. The genus occurs from southern Thailand to Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra. On the basis of macromorphology and pollen characters, it is considered to be related to Monocarpia. Both genera show a combination of macromorphological characters that is rare in the family, i.e. considerably enlarged stigmas, leaves with percurrent tertiary veins, a highly reduced number of carpels per flower and relatively large monocarps with a thick, hard wall. Scanning and transmission electron microscopy show that the pollen grains of Dendrokingstonia and Monocarpia are monosulcate monads with a columellate infratectum and a more or less bulging intine at the sulcus. © 2011 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2012, 168 , 76–90.  相似文献

Summary  Twenty-eight species of heterobasidiomycetes (phylum Basidiomycota) belonging to the orders Auriculariales, Dacrymycetales, Exidiales, Platygloeales, Sebacinales, Septobasidiales and Tremellales from Belize are described or reported. Endoperplexa phlebioides, Heterochaete pentadelphai and Sebacina pileata are described as new. The genus Aphelariopsis is considered a possible synonym of Septobasidium and the new combination Septobasidium kupemontis is proposed. White blister rust of sunflower is an emerging disease that is among the most important diseases in this crop in South Africa and has recently spread to Europe. For the genus Albugo, it has been demonstrated that species are mostly at least host genus specific and that several previously overlooked species are present on Brassicaceae. It thus seems likely that previously unrecognised species are also present in the genus Pustula. Based on previous phylogenetic reconstruction in combination with differences in oospore ornamentation, it is revealed that Pustula on sunflower, previously attributed to Pustula tragopogonis (syn. Albugo tragopogonis), is distinct from Pustula on Tragopogon. Therefore, this pathogen is described as a new species, Pustula helianthicola. In addition, taxonomic observations revealed that Pustula tragopogonis is an incorrect name and is replaced by the new combination, Pustula obtusata.  相似文献

This paper deals with six species of smut fungi which were collected in the provinces Yunnan and Gansu in China. Among them, Anthracoidea yunnanensis and Entorrhiza guttiformis are new species. Sporisorium andropogonis-annulati, which is a new combination, Sporisorium montaniensis, Urocystis pseudoanemones, and Ustilago griffithsii are new records for China.  相似文献

The family Megalyridae is recorded from Japan for the first time on the basis of two new species, Carminator helios and C. japonicus. This is the northernmost record of living Megalyridae, although fossil species are known from regions of the Baltic Sea. Carminator helios can be distinguished from congeners of the Asian and Australian regions by the combination of a long head, deeply excavated frons with convex inner margins, entirely striated postgena, the number of fore tibial spines (more than 16), and a long R1 vein. Carminator japonicus is distinguishable from other species by the combination of an orange‐colored metasoma, a weakly excavated frons, and an elongate vertex. This species was collected from the canopy of Acer pictum. Additional characters that distinguish species of the genus Carminator are discussed.  相似文献
