In this study the length–weight (LWR) and length–length relationships (LLR) were carried out for Indus Mahseer, Tor macrolepis, from the Haro River and Nalah Kala, Attock, Pakistan. A total of 118 specimens were used to estimate the relationship parameters. The results of LWR (W = a TLb) from five different sites indicated W = 0.0044 TL3.14, W = 0.0054 TL3.08, W = 0.0059 TL3.21, W = 0.0076 TL3.12, and W = 0.0107 TL2.99, respectively, with an overall value of W = 0.0100 TL2.94. All regressions for LLR were highly significant (P ≤ 0.001), with coefficient of determination (r2) values of > 0.90. All relationships for LWR and LLR were found to be isometric. T. macrolepis is principally a herbivorous bottom feeder, mainly feeding on aquatic plants and algae, supplemented by insects.  相似文献

Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated for four cavefish species belonging to the genus Sinocyclocheilus (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae) occurring in the Nanpanjiang River and Hongshuihe River, which constitute the upstream of the species, S. angularis, S. furcodorsalis, S. rhinocerous, and S. tileihornes, were collected from 2011 to 2017. The b values of LWRs of these four species ranged from 2.830 to 3.719 and the correlation coefficient values (R2) were high for all species. This is the first record of LWRs for cavefish species with the horn in FishBase database.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships of 23 fish species from the Guaratiba mangrove area in southeastern Brazil were estimated. The value of the parameter b ranged from 2.63 to 3.39 (median = 2.97). This study presents the first estimation of LWR for two species (Ctenogobius stomatus and Ctenogobius boleosoma). New maximum length records were obtained for two species (Poecilla vivipara and Ctenogobius stomatus).  相似文献

Length–weight relationships are presented for 33 fish species from New Zealand. The parameters a and b of the equation W = aLb were estimated. Parameter b ranged from 2.51 (Pseudocaranx dentex) to 3.51 (Alepocephalus antipodianus) with a mean of 3.12 ± 0.24. Most of these estimates (90.9%) were between 2.8 and 3.4. Maximum lengths and depths of catch are updated for nine species.  相似文献

In this paper, we document length–weight relationships (LWRs) for nine rarely occurring carangids, opportunistically sampled form commercial catches between 2012 and 2015 being fished from the northern Arabian Sea coast of Pakistan. After confirmation in the FishBase database all nine species Alectis indica (25), Alepes melanoptera (20), Alepes vari (22), Atropus Atropos (25), Carangoides praeustus (50), Seriolina nigrofasciata (21), Trachinotus blochi (30), Trachinotus mokalee (34) and Uraspis uraspis (17) found no LWRs previously documented. The slope values for species presented range from 2.44 to 2.93, intercepts 0.0001–0.048, coefficient of determination 0.89–0.99, and confidence intervals for slopes and intercepts of each species calculated. The LWRs data of nine species would be added in the FishBase database, and provide underlying biological data to the regional biologist for further exploration of these species.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWR) of fishes are necessary for various purposes such as stock/ecological assessment, monitoring and management (Froese, 2006). In this study we report length–weight relationships for five species of stingrays found in the Persian Gulf, Iran. Only one LWR was previously reported in the scientific literature for Rhinoptera javanica (Raje, 2000).  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated for ten elasmobranch species from Iranian waters of the Oman Sea. All specimens were collected by bottom trawl (mesh size 80 mm in the cod end) between May and December 2014. A total of 509 individuals (107 Torpedo sinuspersici, 68 Rhinobatos punctifer, 63 Chaenogaleus macrostoma, 72 Himantura walga, 80 Himantura gerrardi, 58 Gymnura poecilura, 4 Himantura uarnak, 4 Rhinoptera javanica, 14 Aetobatus flagellum, and 39 Pastinachus sephen) were sampled and studied. Results showed that most species had positive allometric or isometric growth but that more studies were needed for final decisions on growth patterns. Both the disk length‐body weight (DL/BW) and disk width‐body weight (DW/BW) relationships also showed a good fit, reinforcing the credibility of the data in relation to the LWRs. This study is the first report of LWRs for these elasmobranchs in the northern Oman Sea.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships are reported for four Indian carps. The length–weight relationship was W = 0.01123L3.355 for Cirrhinus mrigala, W = 0.07354L3.299 for Catla catla, W = 0.04066L3.313 for Labeo rohita and W = 0.11489L2.732 for Labeo fimbriatus. LWR estimates for C. mrigala and L. fimbriatus had not been previously reported in FishBase.  相似文献

This report describes the length–weight relationships (LWRs) of 22 freshwater fish species from freshwater western Caribbean drainages in Venezuela. Fishes were collected in dry seasons between 2005 and 2007 with standardized electrofishing from coastal streams of Aroa, Yaracuy and Urama drainages. Results include the first LWR information for ten endemic and threatened species. Novel data on these freshwater fish faunas are important for monitoring their populations, as well as the condition of fluvial habitats to promote strategies for their conservation.  相似文献

The length–weight relationships were determined for three fish species: Histiopterus typus (Temminck & Schlegel, 1844), Branchiostegus argentatus (Cuvier, 1830), and Ilisha elongata (Anonymous [Bennett], 1830). Samples were collected from the South China Sea with commercial trawls in June 2016 using trawl nets. Prior to this study the length–weight relationships for these three species were unknown.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships were determined for three fish species (Pseudogyrinocheilus prochilus Sauvage & Dabry de Thiersant, 1874; Folifer brevifilis Peters, 1881; and Garra imberba Garman, 1912). Samples were collected from the Wujiang River in China, from May to July in 2009–2011 using gillnets (25 × 12 m, mesh size 0.5 cm) and fish cages (0.5 × 0.5 × 10 m, mesh size 0.5 cm mesh). Length–weight relationships for these three fish species were determined for the first time.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships were determined for three fish species (Cynoglossus macrolepidotus (Bleeker, 1851), Liparis tanakae (Gilbert & Burke, 1912), Zoarces elongatus (Kner, 1868)) from Bohai Sea (38°38′–40°28′N; 119°42′–121°10′E), China. Fish specimens were sampled monthly between May 1982 to May 1983 using pair bottom trawlers (150.5 × 96.5 m, mesh size: 30–200 mm) with a cod end (mesh size: 30 mm), which were towed at a ship's speed of two knots for 1 hr at a maximum depth of about 80 m. Relationships between length and weight were fitted very well for all species (all R2 > .90).  相似文献
