ABSTRACT

Patients with fibromyalgia (FM) report high levels of sleep disturbance and chronic diffuse musculoskeletal pain. These patients experience diminished quality of life (QoL) due to pain and other comorbidities. Chronotype preferences have been suggested as a potential factor connecting increased severity of FM, sleep disturbances, and poor overall QoL. The present study is the first study examining the possible association between chronotype preferences, sleep disturbance, severity of FM, and QoL in patients with FM.

One hundred drug-free patients diagnosed with FM participated in this cross-sectional study. Of them, 79 (79%) were females and 21 (21%) were males. The mean age was 41.65 ± 9.17 years (range: 21–62 years). The severity of FM symptoms, chronotype preferences, and QoL was evaluated using the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ), Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire (MEQ), and World Health Organization Questionnaire on Quality of Life: Short Form (WHOQOL-BREF). The participants’ anxiety/depressive symptoms and sleep problems were assessed using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI).

The participants were classified according to their MEQ scores as evening type (score: 16–41), neither type (score: 42–58), and morning type (score: 59–86). It was found that there were significant differences in the FIQ score between the three groups (p < .001). It was determined that the total PSQI score was significantly higher in the evening type than the other two types (p < .05). It was found that there were significant differences in the general health, physical health, psychological, and environmental domain scores of the WHOQOL-BREF between the three groups (p < .05). It was detected that there were significant correlations between MEQ scores, WHOQOL-BREF subscale scores, FIQ scores, HADS-A and HADS-D scores, and PSQI scores. According to hierarchical regression analysis, eveningness preference explained an additional 21.9% of the variation in FM severity, thereby causing a statistically significant change in R-squared.

Our results indicated that eveningness preference was directly related to increased FM symptom severity and poorer QoL. Based on these findings, neglecting to take chronotype preference into account may not result in optimal response to standard treatment for some patients with FM.  相似文献

Objective: To determine whether regular aerobic exercise improves symptoms of sleep‐disordered breathing in overweight children, as has been shown in adults. Research Methods and Procedures: Healthy but overweight (BMI ≥85th percentile) 7‐ to 11‐year‐old children were recruited from public schools for a randomized controlled trial of exercise effects on diabetes risk. One hundred children (53% black, 41% male) were randomly assigned to a control group (n = 27), a low‐dose exercise group (n = 36), or a high‐dose exercise group (n = 37). Exercise groups underwent a 13 ± 1.5 week after‐school program that provided 20 or 40 minutes per day of aerobic exercise (average heart rate = 164 beats per minute). Group changes were compared on BMI z‐score and four Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire scales: Snoring, Sleepiness, Behavior, and a summary scale, Sleep‐Related Breathing Disorders. Analyses were adjusted for age. Results: Both the high‐dose and low‐dose exercise groups improved more than the control group on the Snoring scale. The high‐dose exercise group improved more than the low‐dose exercise and control groups on the summary scale. No group differences were found for changes on Sleepiness, Behavior, or BMI z‐score. At baseline, 25% screened positive for sleep‐disordered breathing; half improved to a negative screen after intervention. Discussion: Regular vigorous exercise can improve snoring, a symptom of sleep‐disordered breathing, in overweight children. Aerobic exercise programs may be valuable for prevention and treatment of sleep‐disordered breathing in overweight children.  相似文献

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of obesity on pelvic floor function in women. Research Methods and Procedures: This was a prospective controlled study of 20 morbidly obese female patients planning to undergo gastric bypass surgery and 20 age‐matched female controls. Subjects completed symptom and impact questionnaires, including the Incontinence Impact Questionnaire (IIQ‐7), Urogenital Distress Inventory (UDI), the Kobashi Prolapse Symptom Inventory and Quality‐of‐Life Questionnaire (PSI‐QOL), and Index of Female Sexual Function. Data were analyzed with Wilcoxon or ratio χ2 tests. Results: Mean weight was 295.7 ± 87.9 lbs in the study group and 144.79 ± 33.07 lbs in the control group. Mean BMI was 52.65 ±14.49 kg/m2 in the study group and 25.11 ± 5.27 kg/m2 in the control group. According to the IIQ‐7, urinary incontinence significantly affected lifestyle in the study group. The total IIQ‐7 score was also significantly affected in the study group (p = 0.03). The UDI indicated more urinary leakage with activity (p = 0.04) and more incidents of small amounts of leakage (p = 0.02) in the study group. According to the PSI‐QOL, women in the study group experienced constipation more often because of difficulty in emptying the rectum (p = 0.04). The PSI‐QOL score was higher in the study group (6.75 ± 6.84) than in the control group (2.65 ± 3.03; p = 0.04). There were no significant differences between groups regarding sexual function. Discussion: Morbid obesity is associated with a significant negative impact on urogenital health. Sexual function did not seem to be affected in women who are morbidly obese.  相似文献

Whether intramuscular triglyceride (IMTG) concentration or flux is more important in the progression to type 2 diabetes is controversial. Therefore, this study examined IMTG concentration, as well as its fractional synthesis rate (FSR), in obese people with normal glucose tolerance (NGT; n = 20) vs. obese people with prediabetes (PD; n = 19), at rest and during exercise. Insulin action and secretion were assessed using an intravenous glucose tolerance test. [U‐13C]palmitate was infused for 4 h before and throughout 1.5 h of treadmill walking at 50% VO2max. IMTG concentration was measured by gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer, and FSR by gas chromatography–combustion isotope ratio mass spectrometer, from muscle biopsies taken immediately before and after exercise. Basal IMTG concentration was higher (43 ± 5.7 vs. 27 ± 3.9 mg/mg dry weight, P = 0.03) and FSR trended lower (0.23 ± 0.04 vs. 0.32 ± 0.05/h, P = 0.075), as did insulin action (Si; 2.9 ± 0.43 vs. 3.3 ± 0.35 × 10?4/mU/ml, P = 0.07), in PD vs. NGT. IMTG concentration did not change significantly during exercise, but was no longer different in PD vs. NGT (45 ± 7.7 vs. 37 ± 5.8 mg/mg dry weight, P = 0.41). IMTG FSR suppressed during exercise in NGT (?81% to 0.06 ± 0.13/h, P = 0.02), but not PD (+4% to 0.24 ± 0.13%/h, P = 0.95). Palmitate oxidation was similar during rest (P = 0.92) and exercise (P = 0.94) between groups, but its source appeared different with more coming from muscle at rest and plasma during exercise in NGT, whereas the converse was true in PD. Altogether, higher basal IMTG concentration that is metabolically inflexible distinguishes obese people with PD from those with NGT.  相似文献

Introduction

Fibromyalgia (FM) is characterized by chronic pain. Impaired growth hormone responses and reduced serum insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) are common in FM. The aim was to examine changes in serum IGF-1, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), neuropeptides, and cytokines during aerobic exercise in FM patients.

Methods

In total, 49 patients (median age, 52 years) with FM were included in the study. They were randomized to either the moderate- to high-intensity Nordic Walking (NW) program (n = 26) or the supervised low-intensity walking (LIW) program (n = 23). Patients participated in blood tests before and after 15 weeks of aerobic exercise. Changes in serum levels of free IGF-1, pain rating on a 0- to 100-mm scale, pain threshold, and 6-minute walk test (6MWT) were examined. CSF, neuropeptides, matrix metalloproteinase 3 (MMP-3), and inflammatory cytokines were determined. Nonparametric tests were used for group comparisons and correlation analyses.

Results

Serum free IGF-1 levels did not change during 15 weeks of exercise between the two groups, although the 6MWT significantly improved in the NW group (p = 0.033) when compared with LIW. Pain did not significantly change in any of the groups, but tended to decrease (p = 0.052) over time in the total group. A tendency toward a correlation was noted between baseline IGF-1 and a decrease of pain in response to exercise (r = 0.278; p = 0.059). When adjusted for age, this tendency disappeared. The change in serum free IGF-1 correlated positively with an alteration in CSF substance P (SP) levels (rs = 0.495; p = 0.072), neuropeptide Y (NPY) (rs = 0.802; p = 0.001), and pain threshold (rs = 0.276; p = 0.058). Differing CSF SP levels correlated positively to a change in pain threshold (rs = 0.600; p = 0.023), whereas the shift in CSF MMP-3 inversely correlated with an altered pain threshold (rs = -0.569; p = 0.034).

Conclusions

The baseline level of serum free IGF-1 did not change during high or low intensity of aerobic exercise. Changes in IGF-1 correlated positively with a variation in CSF SP, NPY, and pain threshold. These data indicate a beneficial role of IGF-1 during exercise in FM.Trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov NCT00643006.  相似文献

Objective: Inflammation has been found to play a role in the etiology of cardiovascular disease as well as provoke endothelial dysfunction. Inflammatory cytokines associated with endothelial function are interleukin‐6 (IL‐6) and tumor necrosis factor‐α (TNF‐α). IL‐6 is exercise intensity dependent and has been shown to inhibit TNF‐α expression directly. The aim of this study was to investigate the interaction of IL‐6 and TNF‐α on endothelial function in response to acute exercise in overweight men exhibiting different physical activity profiles. Methods and Procedures: Using a randomized mixed factorial design, 16 overweight men (8 active, maximal exercise capacity (VO2peak) = 34.2 ± 1.7, BMI = 27.4 ± 0.7 and 8 inactive, VO2peak = 30.9 ± 1.2, BMI = 29.3 ± 1.0) performed three different intensity acute exercise treatments. Brachial artery flow‐mediated dilation (FMD) and subsequent blood samples were taken pre‐exercise and 1 h following the cessation of exercise. Results: Independent of exercise intensity, the active group displayed a 24% increase (P = 0.034) in FMD following acute exercise compared to a 32% decrease (P = 0.010) in the inactive group. Elevated (P < 0.001) concentrations of IL‐6 following moderate (50% VO2) and high (75% VO2) intensity acute exercise were observed in both groups; however, concentrations of TNF‐ α were unchanged in response to acute exercise (P = 0.584). Discussion: The FMD response to acute exercise is enhanced in active men who are overweight, whereas inactive men who are overweight exhibit an attenuated response. The interaction of IL‐6 and TNF‐ α did not provide insight into the physiological mechanisms associated with the disparity of FMD observed between groups.  相似文献

Objective: To determine the influence of dietary glycemic index on exercise training‐induced adaptations in substrate oxidation in obesity. Design and Methods: Twenty older, obese individuals undertook 3 months of fully supervised aerobic exercise and were randomized to low‐ (LoGIX) or high‐glycemic (HiGIX) diets. Changes in indirect calorimetry (VO2; VCO2) were assessed at rest, during a hyperinsulinemic‐euglycemic clamp, and during submaximal exercise (walking: 65% VO2max, 200 kcal energy expenditure). Intramyocellular lipid (IMCL) was measured by 1H‐magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Results: Weight loss (?8.6 ± 1.1%) and improvements (P < 0.05) in VO2max, glycemic control, fasting lipemia, and metabolic flexibility were similar for both LoGIX and HiGIX groups. During submaximal exercise, energy expenditure was higher following the intervention (P < 0.01) in both groups. Respiratory exchange ratio during exercise was unchanged in the LoGIX group but increased in the HiGIX group (P < 0.05). However, fat oxidation during exercise expressed in relation to changes in body weight was increased in the LoGIX group (+10.6 ± 3.6%; P < 0.05). Fasting IMCL was unchanged, however, extramyocellular lipid was reduced (P < 0.05) after LoGIX. Conclusions: A LoGIX/exercise weight‐loss intervention increased fat utilization during exercise independent of changes in energy expenditure. This highlights the potential therapeutic value of low‐glycemic foods for reversing metabolic defects in obesity.  相似文献

Objectives : To determine the effects of equivalent diet‐ or exercise‐induced weight loss and exercise without weight loss on subcutaneous fat, visceral fat, and insulin sensitivity in obese women. Research Methods and Procedures : Fifty‐four premenopausal women with abdominal obesity [waist circumference 110.1 ± 5.8 cm (mean ± SD)] (BMI 31.3 ± 2.0 kg/m2) were randomly assigned to one of four groups: diet weight loss (n = 15), exercise weight loss (n = 17), exercise without weight loss (n = 12), and a weight‐stable control group (n = 10). All groups underwent a 14‐week intervention. Results : Body weight decreased by ~6.5% within both weight loss groups and was unchanged in the exercise without weight loss and control groups. In comparison with controls, cardiorespiratory fitness improved within the exercise groups only (p < 0.01). Reduction in total, abdominal, and abdominal subcutaneous fat within the exercise weight loss group was greater (p < 0.001) than within all other groups. The reduction in total and abdominal fat within the diet weight loss and exercise without weight loss groups was greater than within controls (p < 0.001) but not different from each other (p > 0.05). Visceral fat decreased within all treatment groups (p < 0.008), and these changes were not different from each other. In comparison with the control group, insulin sensitivity improved within the exercise weight loss group alone (p < 0.001). Discussion : Daily exercise without caloric restriction was associated with substantial reductions in total fat, abdominal fat, visceral fat, and insulin resistance in women. Exercise without weight loss was also associated with a substantial reduction in total and abdominal obesity.  相似文献

Background

In patients with COPD progressive dyspnoea leads to a sedentary lifestyle. To date, no studies exist investigating the effects of Nordic Walking in patients with COPD. Therefore, the aim was to determine the feasibility of Nordic Walking in COPD patients at different disease stages. Furthermore we aimed to determine the short- and long-term effects of Nordic Walking on COPD patients'' daily physical activity pattern as well as on patients exercise capacity.

Methods

Sixty COPD patients were randomised to either Nordic Walking or to a control group. Patients of the Nordic Walking group (n = 30; age: 62 ± 9 years; FEV1: 48 ± 19% predicted) underwent a three-month outdoor Nordic Walking exercise program consisting of one hour walking at 75% of their initial maximum heart rate three times per week, whereas controls had no exercise intervention. Primary endpoint: daily physical activities (measured by a validated tri-axial accelerometer); secondary endpoint: functional exercise capacity (measured by the six-minute walking distance; 6MWD). Assessment time points in both groups: baseline, after three, six and nine months.

Results

After three month training period, in the Nordic Walking group time spent walking and standing as well as intensity of walking increased (Δ walking time: +14.9 ± 1.9 min/day; Δ standing time: +129 ± 26 min/day; Δ movement intensity: +0.40 ± 0.14 m/s2) while time spent sitting decreased (Δ sitting time: -128 ± 15 min/day) compared to baseline (all: p < 0.01) as well as compared to controls (all: p < 0.01). Furthermore, 6MWD significantly increased compared to baseline (Δ 6MWD: +79 ± 28 meters) as well as compared to controls (both: p < 0.01). These significant improvements were sustained six and nine months after baseline. In contrast, controls showed unchanged daily physical activities and 6MWD compared to baseline for all time points.

Conclusions

Nordic Walking is a feasible, simple and effective physical training modality in COPD. In addition, Nordic Walking has proven to positively impact the daily physical activity pattern of COPD patients under short- and long-term observation.

Abstract

Purpose/aim: The aims of this study are to investigate the relationship between kinesiophobia and sensory processing in fibromyalgia (FM) patients and obtain new information about kinesiophobia in light of these results.

Materials and methods: This study has been conducted with 82 literate subjects aged 18–65?years and diagnosed with FM based on ACR 2010 diagnostic criteria. Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire was used for measuring functional status in FM patients, The Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia was used for determine the levels of kinesiophobia and Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profile was used for determine the characteristics of sensory process patterns of the individuals.

Results: Among the participants, sensory sensitivity scores of 65.85% and sensation avoiding scores of 40.24% were higher than that in the general population. Sensation seeking scores of 48.78% the subjects were lower compared to the general population. A significant and weak positive correlation was found between the kinesiophobia scores and responses of sensory sensitivity and sensation avoiding (r?=?0.23, p?=?0.04; z?=?0.29, p?=?0.01)

Conclusion: This is the first study conducted to investigate the relationship between kinesiophobia and sensory processing in fibromyalgia patients. However, different studies investigating this subject are warranted in order to be able to generalize the findings and increase the value of evidence.  相似文献

ObjectiveTo assess the effect of Nordic walking (NW) on cardiometabolic health, physical performance, and well-being in sedentary older adults with type 2 diabetes (T2D).MethodsFifteen subjects with T2D (female, 5; male, 10; age, 65 ± 6.2 years [mean ± standard deviation]; body mass index, 27.3 ± 4.9 kg/m2 [mean ± standard deviation]) were enrolled in a 6-month NW training program. The fasting glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin levels, lipid profile (total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and triglycerides), systolic blood pressure (SBP), and diastolic blood pressures were measured before and after the intervention. Participants’ quality of life (Short-Form Health Survey) and physical fitness (6-minute walking test) were also evaluated.ResultsCompared with baseline, NW significantly improved the fasting glucose level (103.5 ± 18.5 vs 168.7 ± 37.7 mg/dL, P = .01), SBP (121.8 ± 12.2 vs 133 ± 14.4 mm Hg, P = .02), physical fitness (759.88 ± 69 vs 615.5 ± 62.6 m, P < .001), and both mental health (54.5 ± 4.4 vs 45.7 ± 5.6, P < .01) and physical health (49.8 ± 4.7 vs 40.3 ± 5.9, P < .01). The levels of glycosylated hemoglobin (6.15% ± 0.8% vs 6.4% ± 1%, P = .46), total cholesterol (162.2 ± 31.2 vs 175.5 ± 28.8 mg/dL, P = .13), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (95.2 ± 24.2 vs 106.3 ± 32.3 mg/dL, P = .43), and triglycerides (135.5 ± 60.8 vs 127.6 ± 57.4 mg/dL, P = 0.26) improved without reaching significance.ConclusionNW training improved the glycemic levels, SBP, physical fitness, and perception of quality of life in older adults with T2D. NW represents a suitable complementary strategy to improve the global health status in this population.  相似文献

Objective:

To analyze the body fat (BF) content and distribution modifications in coronary artery disease (CAD) patients in response to a 1‐year combined aerobic and resistance exercise training (CET) program.

Design and Methods:

We followed two groups of CAD male patients for 12 months. One group consisted of 17 subjects (57 ± 12 years) who engaged in a CET program (CET group) and the other was a age‐matched control group of 10 subjects (58 ± 11 years). BF content and distribution were measured through dual energy X‐ray absorptiometry (DXA) at baseline and follow‐up.

Results:

We found no differences on body mass and BMI between baseline and end of follow‐up in both groups but, in CET group, we found significant reductions in all analyzed BF depots, including total BF (21.60 ± 6.00 vs. 20.32 ± 5.89 kg, P < 0.01), % total BF (27.8 ± 5.5 vs. 26.4 ± 5.4%, P < 0.05), trunk fat (12.54 ± 3.99 vs. 11.77 ± 4.01 kg, P < 0.05), % trunk fat (31.1 ± 6.9 and 29.2 ± 7.1%, P < 0.05), appendicular fat (8.22 ± 2.08 vs. 7.72 ± 2.037 kg, P < 0.01), % appendicular fat (25.7 ± 4.9 and 24.5 ± 4.9%, P < 0.05), and abdominal fat (2.95 ± 1.06 vs. 2.75 ± 1.10 kg, P < 0.05). Control group showed significant increase in appendicular fat (7.63 ± 1.92 vs. 8.10 ± 2.12 kg, P < 0.05).

Conclusions:

These results confirm the positive effect of CET on body composition of CAD patients, despite no changes in body mass or BMI. In this study, we observed no alterations on BF distribution meaning similar rate of fat loss in all analyzed BF depots. These results also alert for the limitations of BMI for tracking body composition changes.  相似文献

Coupled with an aging society, the rising obesity prevalence is likely to increase the future burden of physical disability. We set out to determine whether obesity modified the effects of a physical activity (PA) intervention designed to prevent mobility disability in older adults. Older adults at risk for disability (N = 424, age range: 70–88 years) were randomized to a 12 month PA intervention involving moderate intensity aerobic, strength, balance, and flexibility exercise (150 min per week) or a successful aging (SA) intervention involving weekly educational workshops. Individuals were stratified by obesity using a BMI ≥30 (n = 179). Mobility function was assessed as usual walking speed over 400 m and scores on a short physical performance battery (SPPB), which includes short distance walking, balance tests, and chair rises. Over 12 months of supervised training, the attendance and total amount of walking time was similar between obese and nonobese subjects and no weight change was observed. Nonobese participants in the PA group had significant increases in 400‐m walking speed (+1.5%), whereas their counterparts in the SA group declined (?4.3%). In contrast, obese individuals declined regardless of their assigned intervention group (PA: ?3.1%; SA: ?4.9%). SPPB scores, however, increased following PA in both obese (PA: +13.5%; SA: +2.5%) and nonobese older adults (PA: +18.6%; SA: +6.1%). A moderate intensity PA intervention improves physical function in older adults, but the positive benefits are attenuated with obesity.  相似文献

Objective: To investigate the unknown relationship between dieting status and dietary restraint on postexercise energy intake (PE-EI) in overweight sedentary women after a bout of moderate-intensity exercise. Specifically, this was investigated in women who were categorized as dieting with high restraint, nondieting with high restraint, or nondieting with low restraint. Research Methods and Procedures: This study consisted of two experimental conditions, exercise (E) and nonexercise (NE) in a counterbalanced-crossover design on 2 different days. On the E day, the subjects participated in moderate-intensity exercise, walking on a treadmill for 60 minutes at 60% to 70% of their maximum heart rate. PE-EI at lunch and 12 hours after was compared on the E and an NE day. Dietary restraint was determined using the Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire. Results: Participants (n = 36) were 26 ± 7 years of age, sedentary, and had a mean body mass index of 27 ± 3 kg/m2. There was a significant interaction (F(2,33) = 3.32, p = 0.049) of dieting/restraint status and condition (E vs. NE day) on 12-hour EI. The mean difference in 12-hour EI between the E and the NE day was significantly higher (p < 0.01) for the dieting with high restraint than for the nondieting with high restraint. Discussion: The results of this study demonstrate that dieting status, high dietary restraint, and higher levels of disinhibition may influence PE-EI in overweight women after a bout of moderate-intensity physical activity.  相似文献

Objective: There are few established methods for promoting physical activity (PA) in the severely obese. Because social support is a potential method for promoting PA, we compared mean steps/day during 18 weeks in severely obese outpatients receiving either standard support (SS) or added support (AS). Methods and Procedures: Eighty severely obese outpatients from an obesity clinic were invited; 66 provided written consent, 55 were randomized, and 42 were included in final analyses (9 men, 33 women; age 44.4 ± 13.1 years; BMI 41.9 ± 5.5 kg/m2). All participants received a pedometer and a walking promotion booklet. In addition to SS, the AS group received ten 2‐h group counseling sessions aimed at increasing weekly accumulated steps, every second week during the study. Each participant was asked to complete a 7‐day walking diary every second week (10 observations). Results: Baseline steps/day was 6,912 for the AS group and 5,311 for the SS group (P = 0.023). Data at 18 weeks showed that the AS group recorded 10,136 steps/day and the SS group 6,118 steps/day (P = 0.024). There was no allocation × time interaction (P = 0.46). During the follow‐up period as a whole, the AS group recorded 1,794 more steps/day than the SS group (P = 0.0074). Discussion: The AS group recorded more steps/day than the SS group, reaching a mean level of ~10,000 steps/day. However, the nonsignificant interaction between allocation × time suggests that this difference was present already at baseline and did not increase during follow‐up.

Given the negative effects of a breast cancer diagnosis and its treatments on body weight and bone mass, we investigated the effects of a 6‐month randomized controlled aerobic exercise intervention vs. usual care on body composition in breast cancer survivors. Secondary aims were to examine the effects stratified by important prognostic and physiologic variables. Seventy‐five physically inactive postmenopausal breast cancer survivors were recruited through the Yale–New Haven Hospital Tumor Registry and randomly assigned to an exercise (n = 37) or usual care (n = 38) group. The exercise group participated in 150 min/week of supervised gym‐ and home‐based moderate‐intensity aerobic exercise. The usual care group was instructed to maintain their current physical activity level. Body composition was assessed at baseline and 6‐months through dual‐energy X‐ray absorptiometry (DXA) by one radiologist blinded to the intervention group of the participants. On an average, exercisers increased moderate‐intensity aerobic exercise by 129 min/week over and above baseline levels compared with 45 min/week among usual care participants (P < 0.001). Exercisers experienced decreases in percent body fat (P = 0.0022) and increases in lean mass (P = 0.047) compared with increases in body fat and decreases in lean mass in usual care participants. Bone mineral density (BMD) was also maintained among exercisers compared with a loss among usual care participants (P = 0.043). In summary, moderate‐intensity aerobic exercise, such as brisk walking, produces favorable changes in body composition that may improve breast cancer prognosis.  相似文献
