A new genus and species, Espanoderus barbarae gen. et sp. nov., belonging to the family Tanyderidae (Diptera, Nematocera), is described from Lower Cretaceous amber of Spain (Álava amber). The new genus is the smallest member of Tanyderinae and the first member of the family from the Álava amber. The position of the new genus in a phylogenetic tree of Tanyderidae is presented.

A partial skull and skeleton of a small, juvenile plesiosaur, part of the historically important Philpot Collection from Lyme Regis, England, is described. It is assigned tentatively to EwycMdus arcuatus (Owen, 1840) and has a mosaic of features which make it difficult to place in a superfamily. The characters of the posterior elements of the skull and post-dentary bones are close to those expected in a plesiosauroid, whereas the anterior dentition and symphysis of the lower jaw are more typical of a pliosauroid. The specimen is placed in the Pliosauroidea pending a phylogenetic revision of the Lower Jurassic Plesiosauria. From a reconstruction of the dentition and jaw-closing muscles, it is thought to have been a predator on soft-bodied or lighdy armoured prey, such as belemnoids, ammonites or small fish.  相似文献

During 2009–2011, mosquitoes were captured in CDC miniature light traps using CO2 (dry ice) at six sites in the Lower Dyje River Basin (Czech Republic). Other methods of capture — sweeping from vegetation and collection of larvae and pupae from ponds — were also used for more precise diagnostics. Thirty mosquito species of six genera were confirmed. A total of 415,218 females were captured. Most frequently found were the outbreak species Aedes vexans (56.52% of all mosquitoes collected) and Ae. sticticus (16.40%). Among other flood species, Ae. rossicus (5.17%), Ae. cantans and Ae. annulipes (2.44% of all females collected), and Ae. cinereus s. l. (1.11%) were especially abundant. Females of Ae. cataphylla were captured in spring (0.31%) and Ae. intrudens was numerous only at one site. Among the other species, Culex pipiens s. l. (6.61%) and Cx. modestus (8.87%) were abundant. Anopheles maculipennis s. l. (1.01%), An. claviger (0.43%), An. plumbeus (0.08%), An. hyrcanus (0.08%), Coquillettidia richiardii (0.52%) and Culiseta annulata (0.18%) were also detected. Sparsely occurring were Ae. excrucians, Ae. flavescens, Ae. caspius and Ae. geniculatus. Captured only very sporadically were Ae. communis, Ae. leucomelas, Ae. dorsalis, Ae. rusticus, Cx. martinii, Cx. territans, Cs. morsitans and Uranotaenia unguiculata.  相似文献

The aim of the present work is to determine the morphological characteristics of the lower Aptian (lower Cretaceous) ammonite species Cheloniceras cornuelianum (d’Orbigny, 1841) (Douvilleiceratinae, Douvilleiceratidae) on the basis of 32 specimens from the Paris Basin (France), including the lectotype of the species and 23 topotype specimens. It is generally admitted that this species occurs in the Deshayesites forbesi-Dufrenoyia furcata zones interval (lower Aptian). Our study has lead to several unexpected results. First, the study sample of Ccornuelianum is very probably younger and has more primitive traits than expected: it is probably dated around the limit between the Deshayesites forbesi and Deshayesites deshayesi zones and is morphologically close to the earlier genus Procheloniceras Spath, 1923. Secondly, the lectotype is an extreme specimen with much derived traits compared to its original population. It constitutes an example of type-specimen not morphologically representative of its original population, responsible of a risk of misinterpretation of the species. Finally, the intraspecific variability and the proportion of asymmetric specimens of the study sample of Ccornuelianum are very important but there is no evidence of sexual dimorphism.  相似文献

The > 1,000 m-thick Carboniferous sedimentary succession of Nötsch is divided into the Erlachgraben, Badstub, and Nötsch formations with poorly constrained precise ages, but probably constituting a continuous lithostratigraphic Group deposited from the latest Viséan to the early Bashkirian, thus including a complete Serpukhovian succession. We date the early Serpukhovian (Steshevian) in exotic limestone clasts of the Badstub Fm. based on algae and foraminifers. These limestone clasts have been reworked from a carbonate shelf, indicating that they are older than the Badstub Fm. Microfacies and fossil assemblages indicate that a shallow marine carbonate shelf was developed at the northern margin of the deep-sea basin of Nötsch. The assemblages include the red alga Hortonella, rare green algae, and incertae sedis algae Praedonezella, Aoujgalia, and Frustulata; howchiniid and lasiodiscid foraminifers; atypical endothyrids, probably belonging to Semiendothyra emend.; rare Janischewskina; taxonomically disputable eostaffellids (including Eostaffellina aff. paraprotvae) and pseudoendothyrids; attached forms transitional between pseudolituotubid Fusulinata and calcivertellid Miliolata; and probably the oldest known free Miliolata. Newly described taxa include the incertae sedis algae Praedonezella sebbarae nov. sp. and the foraminifers Pseudoendotaxis nov. gen., Quasilituotuba serpens nov. sp., Q. pseudospiroides nov. sp., and Eoglomospiroides carnica nov. sp. Revised foraminiferal taxa include Pseudolituotubidae, Quasilituotuba cf. serpuchoviensis nov. comb., and Q. ex gr. extensa nov. comb. The studied material provides information about the phylogeny of the first Miliolata and permits the reconstruction of the lineage of Pseudolituotubidae and Calcivertellidae, between the classes Fusulinata and Miliolata. The palaeobiogeography of Austria during the Serpukhovian is not yet clearly established, but relationships with the Saharan and Mediterranean Provinces exist, and especially with the Donbass. Fewer relationships are conspicuous with England, the Moscow Basin or the Urals.  相似文献

Seasonal sampling at six locations on the Lower Ardèche River was effected irregularly during 1982, 1983 and 1984. The seasonal structure of the taxa-sample matrix, much more important than sample location, is demonstrated using graphical interpretation. The Mediterranean aspect of the lower reaches of the Ardèche River is pointed out through its community structure which includes species often collected in other typical Mediterranean streams, e.g. Oligoneuriella rhenana, Ephoron virgo, Ecdyonurus dispar, E. insignis, Choroterpes picteti.Water temperature and day length were the determinant influences on seasonal variations in population structure of benthic macroinvertebrates. Three periods were distinguished: water (November to April), spring (May, June and beginning July) and summer (end of July to October). Spring and autumnal spates marked the limits of the summer and winter periods. Hence, annual fluctuations of this seasonal typology may occur in response to the hydrological regime.  相似文献

A small tube-dwelling organism is interpreted as living in the sediment. This life habit is inferred from the difference between lined burrows and tubes and between soft and rigid tubes. Lamellar extensions of the body-wall may have provided irrigation for the vermiform part of the body. The gaping aperture lacks an operculum and may have been open permanently; the apertural rim was strengthened by spicules. The specimen lacks segmentation and is thus not an annelid worm. Considering the theoretical suitability of the crinoid “forest” in the Hunsrück sea for such worms, the absence of Annelida is curious.  相似文献

From the Silberberg Quarry, type locality of the Silberberg Formation (Martini &Ritzkowski 1968), some planktonic foraminifera are described:Globigerina officinalis Subbotina, Globigerina ouachitaensisHowe &Wallace,G. praebulloides leroyi Blow &Banner, G.praebulloides occlusa Blow &Banner which taxa are here suggested to form intergrading morphotypes within the range of variation of a population dominated byG. officinalis. In addition,G. cf.danvillensis Howe &Wallace is found. The planktonic fauna, together with some elements in the benthonic fauna, suggests a possible correlation with the Danville Landing Member of the Jackson Formation, Louisiana, traditionally ascribed to the Upper Eocene. There is some similarity with European Uppermost Eocene — Lower Oligocene faunas described by various authors. The Silberberg Formation was suggested to be a Neostratotype for the Latdorfian Stage of the Lower Oligocene byMartini &Ritzkowski (1968). It is suggested that the Silberberg Formation may well be coeval with the Upper Priabonian as proposed byCita 1969.  相似文献

A machaeridian, Lepidocoleus hohensteini sp. nov., is described from the Hunsrück Slate (Lower Emsian) of Germany. The available material includes a unique example preserving evidence of the soft tissues, only the second machaeridian specimen to do so and the first lepidocoleid. This specimen shows that the plates are attached to alternate segments in the trunk. The morphology is consistent with an annelid affinity of the Lepidocoleidae and confirms the unity of the Machaeridia. This discovery adds an important group to the known diversity of this famous late Palaeozoic marine Konservat-Lagerstätte.  相似文献

Qesem Cave is assigned to the Acheulo-Yabrudian cultural complex of the late Lower Paleolithic period. The 7.5 m deep stratigraphic sequence is dated to 400-200 ka (thousands of years ago). It is mostly attributed to the Amudian blade-dominated industry, one of the earliest blade production technologies in the world. In this paper, we present the results of a detailed study of five Amudian assemblages from Qesem Cave and suggest two trajectories for the production of blades at the site. We argue that the reduction sequences of blades at Qesem Cave represent an innovative and straightforward technology aimed at the systemic and serial production of predetermined blanks. We suggest that this predetermined blank technology shows planning and intensity that is not significantly different from Middle Paleolithic Mousterian technological systems. Furthermore, this well-organized serial manufacture of cutting implements mainly for butchering might indicates that a significant change in human behavior had taken place by the late Lower Paleolithic period.  相似文献

A report on the pterosaurian remains from the Lower Cretaceous of Anoual, Morocco, is presented. The material consists of teeth possibly documenting two groups. One of them cannot be clearly established but might be ornithocheirid, while the most numerous teeth are reminiscent of those of gnathosaurine. This possible attribution might be consistent with a Berriasian age for the calcareous lens containing the microvertebrate assemblages of Anoual.  相似文献

A multi-enzyme distribution of endo-β-1,4-glucanase activity was found in the digestive system of a worker caste of the lower termite Coptotermes formosanus (Shiraki) by zymogram analysis. Its distribution analysis demonstrated that about 80% of this activity was localized in salivary glands from where only one component (EG-E) was secreted into the digestive tract.

EG-E was isolated by a combination of chromatographic and electrophoretic techniques. Its molecular mass, optimal pH and temperature, isoelectric point, and K m were 48 kDa, 6.0, 50°C, 4.2, and 3.8 (mg/ml on carboxymethylcellulose), respectively. EG-E hydrolyzed cellooligosaccharides with a degree of polymerization of 4 and larger, and had low activity on crystalline cellulose. Main reaction products from low molecular weight cellulose were cellobiose and cellotriose. The N-terminal amino acid sequence of EG-E has similarity with fungal endo-β-1,4-glucanases and cellobiohydrolases of the glycosyl hydrolase family 7 rather than the other insect endo-β-1,4-glucanases of family 9.  相似文献

From exceptionally rich and mostly well-preserved Lower Bajocian ammonite assemblages, eight lytoceratid species are described and discussed in detail. They belong to four genera (Lytoceras, Megalytoceras, Alocolytoceras and Nannolytoceras) and include some stratigraphically important forms. Thus the material yielded the hitherto known youngest (Lower Bajocian Otoites sauzei Zone) representative of genus Alocolytoceras (A.?isztimeri n. sp.). On the basis of here-identified forms, the range of Lytoceras subfrancisci could be extended up into the Otoites sauzei Zone. A new species (Nannolytoceras gibbosum n. sp.) from the Witchellia laeviuscula/Otoites sauzei zonal boundary interval suggests that the origin of Nannolytoceras could have been earlier than previously recorded. The faunal compositions of the assemblages reflect a typical Tethyan character, with lytoceratids representing only the third most numerous ammonite group behind Phylloceratina and Ammonitina.  相似文献

The Zabuk Formation of the Derik Group exposed over much of south-eastern Turkey presents a succession composed of shallow marine and fluvial siliciclastic sedimentary rocks. The Lower Cambrian assemblages containing abundant anemone-style trace fossils are known from most major palaeocontinents such as Laurentia, Baltica, and Gondwana. These have possible affinities with semi-infaunal dwelling anemones on siliciclastic mid-latitude shelves of West Gondwana in early Fortunian deposits. Among them is Bergaueria, characterized by plug-shaped burrows as exemplified by Bergaueria perata, that is, a characteristic trace fossil of the Cambrian globally.  相似文献

The Lower to Middle Devonian Santa Lucia Formation of NW Spain contains a rich and well-preserved bryozoan fauna. An assemblage containing 14 species is described from two localities in Cantabrian Mountains, Abelgas, and Paradilla. One new genus with one new species is described: Isostylus abelgasensis n. sp. n. gen. Another two new species have been found: Microcampylus minor n. sp. and Acanthoclema parvula n. sp. Additionally, the following species were identified: Cyclotrypa communis (Ulrich 1890), Fistuliphragma gracilis Ernst 2008a, Leioclema attenuatum Duncan 1939, Hemitrypa cf. tenella Barrande in Počta 1894, Fenestella aff. parallela Hall 1881, Anastomopora adnata (Hall 1883), Semicoscinium rhombicum Ulrich 1890, Quadrisemicoscinium discretum (Prantl 1932). Three species are described in open nomenclature: Trepostomata sp. indet.1 and 2, and Semicoscinium sp. The described bryozoan fauna shows connections to the Lower Devonian of Bohemia, and to the Middle Devonian of Rhenish Massif and North America.  相似文献

A core recovered in the North German Basin at the locality of Eulenflucht in the Süntel Mountains, 30 km SE of Hannover, Germany, is interpreted in terms of Oxfordian to Kimmeridgian sequence stratigraphy of this basin. Thirteen different facies are recognized which record the evolution of an outer ramp into a restricted hypersaline lagoon. Changes in grain size, variations in the amount of components, fluctuations of the matrix content and of the microscopic texture, as well as vertical lithofacies stacking patterns, were integrated to define small-scale sequences. Medium-scale sequences were identified by changes in facies combinations of the constituent small-scale sequences. Large-scale sequences were differentiated by facies proportion statistics in the distinct medium-scale sequences. This allows the complete sequence stratigraphic subdivision of the Oxfordian and Kimmeridgian succession to be interpreted. The stable carbon isotopic composition of bulk samples enables a correlation with chemostratigraphic records found elsewhere. This result is supported by an ostracod biostratigraphy that allows a chronostratigraphic assignment of the succession. The large-scale sequences were controlled by climate and local tectonic movements. It is proposed that a long-term shallowing trend during the Kimmeridgian time was induced by regional uplift.  相似文献

Abstract

Modern excavation techniques aim accurately to recover extant archaeological data. Usually bone micro-fragments are gathered as a result, however, during archaeological analysis these remains are often set apart as indeterminate bones and generally do not contribute to the interpretation of the deposits. How to decipher archaeological palimpsests using these small bone fragments is the aim of this paper. El Mirón Cave, located in northern Iberia, contains a very rich Cantabrian Lower Magdalenian deposit (17–15 uncal ka BP) with high densities of faunal remains and artefacts. Here, we present zooarchaeological, taphonomic and spatial distribution analyses of macromammal finds, including those small bone fragments, accumulated during a series of intensive and repeated human occupations found in the outer vestibule excavation area. Our results show that a broad spectrum of activities was performed there, including meat, marrow and grease processing and waste abandonment. We propose that bone micro-fragments must be considered when addressing human subsistence reconstructions from animal remains, as they represent the leftovers of the chaîne opératoire of animal carcass exploitation. The archaeological implications of their inclusion are extremely valuable, especially when deciphering palimpsests. A multidisciplinary approach to study these small animal remains provides information that otherwise would be missed.  相似文献
