Background  

The Roseobacter clade represents one of the most abundant, metabolically versatile and ecologically important bacterial groups found in marine habitats. A detailed molecular investigation of the regulatory and metabolic networks of these organisms is currently limited for many strains by missing suitable genetic tools.  相似文献

Dubois recently suggested that Linnean taxa should be quoted with the year of publication only, rather than with the author ± year of publication. This would reduce the perceived artificial nomenclatural inflation produced by new synonyms. We do not consider this inflation a problem and recommend the maintenance of the current methodology. This has several advantages over that suggested by Dubois, including easy identification of taxa introduced by splitters, which are known by name, not year of publication; managers of systematic facilities expect to see their institute's papers cited; most systematists are dead, but recognition of their efforts is fitting; and a complete reference of author and year supports the best scholarship. 印度支那植物志中有一个假卫矛属植物名称Microtropis poilanei。据其模式标本来看,该种显然不是假卫矛属Microtropis Wallich植物,而是沟瓣属Glyptopetalum Thwaites一新成员。由于种名Glyptope-talumpoilanei Tardieu已经合法发表,笔者根据其模式标本叶全缘的特点,提出新名称为全缘叶沟瓣Glypto-petalum integrifolium Q.W.Lin,Z.X.Zhang & Q.R.Liu。此外由于Microtro pispoilanei未合格发表,作者补充了新名称的拉丁描述。  相似文献

Desmosomes are junctions involved in intercellular adhesion of epithelial cells and hemidesmosomes are junctions involved in adhesion of epithelia to basement membranes. Both are characterised at the ultrastructural level by dense cytoplasmic plaques which are linked to the intermediate filament cytoskeleton of the cells. The plaques strongly resemble each other suggesting a relationship between the two kinds of junctions, as implied by their names. Recent characterisation of the molecular components of the junctions shows they are, in fact, quite unrelated implying that structural similarity is fortuitous. The molecular biology raises many fascinating problems relating to their structure and function.  相似文献

We performed random amplification of polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis on five strains of Alexandrium tamarense and nine strains of Alexandrium minutum. Arbitrary 10-mer oligonucleotides were used as primers for the PCR. Electrophoresis on denaturing acrylamide gels improved RAPD reproducibility and increased the band number. Eight of the 20 primers assayed gave reproducible results and the band profiles generated by them were used for constructing a similarity matrix. Analyses were performed independently for the strains of each species and jointly for all the strains of both species. Results for A. tamarense showed the highest similarity for two distinct clones isolated from the same water sample in the Baltic Sea during a bloom (KAC01 and KAC02). The highest similarity among A. minutum clones was found for three strains (AL1V, AL2V and AL3V) isolated in the Ria de Vigo in NW Spain. The results show a high genetic diversity within a single species. We have shown the potential of the RAPD technique to discriminate between two conspecific strains, as well as for establishing similarities that are related to the biogeographic origin of the strains.  相似文献

The discovery of an earlier epithet for the eglandular-haired subspecies of the Eurasian tetraploid Solarium villosum Miller has necessitated a name change and a new combination. The taxon previously called S. villosum Miller subsp. puniceum (Kirschl.) Edmonds now becomes S. villosum subsp. miniatum (Bernh. ex Willd.) Edmonds. Additional synonyms of this subspecies are given, together with the reasons for the selection of the epithet 'miniatum' rather than 'humile' which was published at the same time.  相似文献

杂交育种是产生遗传变异、表型变异及选择新变异的重要方法。然而系统发育不清晰,选择较近的亲缘关系亲本用于杂交子代往往表现出较低的遗传多样性。为探究湿地松、洪都拉斯加勒比松种间杂交后代遗传多样性水平,对8个湿地松×洪都拉斯加勒比松家系进行ISSR分析。利用10条引物共产生60个表达清晰可用于分析的标记,其中48个标记表现为多态性,占总标记数的80%; 湿加松各个家系多态位点百分率在5%~23.33%之间; 各个家系基因多样性指数在 0.015 2~0.087 2之间,Shannon指数的范围在 0.021 6~0.129 4之间(家系水平为 0.293 4)。8个家系间的基因分化系数Gst为0.743 5,即总的遗传变异中有74.35%的变异存在于家系间,家系内的遗传变异占总遗传变异的25.65%。采用UPGMA法对湿加松的8个家系进行了聚类分析,确定了各个家系之间的遗传亲缘关系。8个家系间的基因流Nm为 0.172 5,表明基因流处于较低水平。  相似文献

Human head lice (Anoplura: Pediculidae: Pediculus) are pandemic, parasitizing countless school children worldwide due to the evolution of insecticide resistance, and human body (clothing) lice are responsible for the deaths of millions as a result of vectoring several deadly bacterial pathogens. Despite the obvious impact these lice have had on their human hosts, it is unclear whether head and body lice represent two morphological forms of a single species or two distinct species. To assess the taxonomic status of head and body lice, we provide a synthesis of publicly available molecular data in GenBank, and we compare phylogenetic and population genetic methods using the most diverse geographic and molecular sampling presently available. Our analyses find reticulated networks, gene flow, and a lack of reciprocal monophyly, all of which indicate that head and body lice do not represent genetically distinct evolutionary units. Based on these findings, as well as inconsistencies of morphological, behavioral, and ecological variability between head and body lice, we contend that no known species concept would recognize these louse morphotypes as separate species. We recommend recognizing head and body lice as morphotypes of a single species, Pediculus humanus, until compelling new data and analyses (preferably analyses of fast evolving nuclear markers in a coalescent framework) indicate otherwise.  相似文献

Mutations of the transformer-2 (tra-2) locus of Drosophila melanogaster cause chromosomally female (XX) animals to develop as males, but have no effect on the development of chromosomally male (XY) animals. In the female genital disc, such mutations cause repression of growth and inhibition of differentiation in the female genital primordium, while allowing growth and differentiation of the otherwise repressed male genital primordium. We used a temperature-sensitive mutation of this locus (tra-2ts1) to switch development from one sexual pathway to the other. Following development at the male-determining temperature (29°C), subsequent culture of the XX;tra-2ts1 genital disc in vivo at the female-determining temperature (16°C) allowed the previously repressed female genital primordium to develop and form female genital structures, whereas the formation of male genital elements was grossly disturbed. Conversely, following development at the female-determining temperature, subsequent culture in vivo at the male-determining temperature allowed the formerly repressed male genital primordium to grow and produce male genital structures, and repressed the formation of female elements from the already fully developed female genital primordium. The experiments indicate that the tra-2 product has to operate during the culture period in order to maintain the female state of sex determination, i.e., to promote the development of female structures, as well as to repress that of male structures. The experimental treatments, as well as the results of temperature shifts on developing larvae, resulted in sexual transformation of the anal plates, and clarified the sexual homologies of these structures. In both genitalia and analia, a switch from the female to the male developmental pathway was accomplished more rapidly and effectively than the reverse change.  相似文献
