Miocene to Pleistocene fossiliferous sediments in the Tugen Hills span the time period from at least 15.5 Ma to 0.25 Ma, including time periods unknown or little known elsewhere in Africa. Consequently, the Tugen Hills deposits hold the potential to inform us about crucial phylogenetic events in African faunal evolution and about long-term environmental change. Among the specimens collected from this region are a number of discoveries already important to the understanding of primate evolution. Here, we describe additional cercopithecoid material from the Miocene deposits in the Tugen Hills sequence, including those from securely dated sites in the Muruyur Beds (16-13.4 Ma), the Mpesida Beds (7-6.2 Ma) and the Lukeino Formation (∼6.2-5.7 Ma). We also evaluate previously described material from the Ngorora Formation (13-8.8 Ma). Identified taxa include Victoriapithecidae gen. et sp. indet., cf. Parapapio lothagamensis, and at least two colobines. Specimens attributed to cf. Pp. lothagamensis would extend the species’ geographic range beyond its type locality. In addition, we describe specimens sharing derived characters with modern African colobines (Tribe: Colobina), a finding that is congruent with previous molecular estimates of colobine divergence dates. These colobine specimens represent some of the earliest known members of the modern African colobine radiation and, in contrast to previous hypotheses, suggest that early African colobines were mainly arboreal and that semi-terrestrial Late Miocene and Plio-Pleistocene colobine taxa were secondarily derived in their locomotor adaptations.  相似文献

The rapidly changing landscape of the eastern Indonesian archipelago has evolved at a pace dictated by its tropical climate and its geological and tectonic history. This has produced accelerated karstification, flights of alluvial terraces, and complex, multi-level cave systems. These cave systems sometimes contain a wealth of archaeological evidence, such as the almost complete skeleton of Homo floresiensis found at the site of Liang Bua in western Flores, but this information can only be understood in the context of the geomorphic history of the cave, and the more general geological, tectonic, and environmental histories of the river valley and region. Thus, a reconstruction of the landscape history of the Wae Racang valley using speleothems, geological structure, tectonic uplift, karst, cave, and terrace development, provides the necessary evidence to determine the formation, age, evolution, and influences on the site. This evidence suggests that Liang Bua was formed as two subterranean chambers ∼600 ka, but could not be occupied until ∼190 ka when the Wae Racang wandered to the southern side of the valley, exposing the chamber and depositing alluvial deposits containing artifacts. During the next ∼190 k.yr., the chambers coalesced and evolved into a multi-level and interconnected cave that was subjected to channel erosion and pooling events by the development of sinkholes. The domed morphology of the front chamber accumulated deep sediments containing well stratified archaeological and faunal remains, but ponded water in the chamber further prevented hominin use of the cave until ∼100 ka. These chambers were periodically influenced by river inundation and volcanic activity, whereas the area outside the cave was greatly influenced by glacial phases, which changed humid forest environments into grassland environments. This combined evidence has important implications for the archaeological interpretation of the site.  相似文献

Three fragments of femora of Orrorin tugenensis, a 6 Ma hominid from the Lukeino Formation, Kenya, possesses a suite of derived characters that reveal that the species was habitually bipedal. Detailed anatomical comparisons with modern humans, Australopithecines and Miocene and extant African apes, reveal that Orrorin shares several apomorphic features with Australopithecines and Homo, but none with Pan or Gorilla. Within the Hominidae, the femur of Orrorin is closer morphologically to that of modern humans than it is to those of australopithecines.  相似文献

40Ar/39Ar single-crystal laser-fusion dating, K–Ar dating, and paleomagnetic reversal stratigraphy have been used to determine the chronostratigraphy of the Kabarnet Trachyte, Lukeino Formation, Kaparaina Basalt Formation, and Chemeron Formation at the sites of Kapcheberek (BPRP#77) and Tabarin (BPRP#77) in the Tugen Hills, Kenya. The succession ranges in age from 6·56–3·8 Ma. The upper Lukeino Formation at Kapcherberek, including the fauna from the site BPRP#76, was deposited during chron C3r and can be constrained to the interval 5·88–5·72 Ma. The Chemeron Formation at Tabarin includes at the base an ignimbrite and associated basal air-fall tuff with a combined age of 5·31±0·03 Ma. Sedimentary and volcaniclastic rocks of the Chemeron Formation which unconformably overlie the ignimbrite record chrons C3n.2n through C2Ar. The combined40Ar/39Ar and paleomagnetic data constrain the age of this sequence to 4·63–3·837 Ma. The age of the Tabarin mandible fragment (KNM-TH 13150) and associated fauna at site BPRP#77 in the Chemeron Formation is 4·48–4·41 Ma, marginally older than similar early hominids from Aramis, Ethiopia. Basin subsidence appears to be defining an overall accumulation rate of about 17 cm/ka over the 2·7 Ma represented at Tabarin and Kapcheberek, despite episodes of rapid accumulation and hiatuses.  相似文献

Fire-setting to open up mines has been used on hard rock since prehistoric times. In the copper-mining district of Cabrières, the existence of metre-sized spherical or sub-spherical cavities, sometimes spaced along the same vertical in an ore seam, has usually been ascribed to this method 〚12〛, 〚13〛, 〚20〛. Two AMS 14C dating of micro-charcoal found in dolomite and of burnt ore breccias related to extraction in these cavities give the ages 3830 ± 40 BP, cal BC 2340–2130 and 3900 ± 40 BP, cal BC 2480–2280, which is the first evidence in France of the use of fire-setting in prehistoric mines.  相似文献

A succession of Sirius Group glacigene sediments which crop out along the western margins of the Beardmore valley between Cherry Icefall and Hewson Glacier, below The Cloudmaker, is designated as the stratotype of the Cloudmaker Formation. This new formation overlies a multiply glaciated pavement (Dominion Erosion Surface) cut into the Precambrian Goldie Formation, and is disconformably overlain by the Meyer Desert Formation (Sirius Group). The Cloudmaker Formation comprises bedded and massive diamictons, bedded sands and silts, and laminated clays. Assemblages of foraminifera occur throughout the Cloudmaker Formation and indicate that these basal Sirius Group sediments were deposited in brackish glacial marine environments. The general absence of diatoms suggest these marine waters were ice-covered. Similar marine assemblages are also present in basal Sirius Group sediments at Oliver Bluffs, Dominion Range. Recycled marine diatom assemblages in the Sirius Group at the latter locality indicate that the host sediments have an age of < 3.8 Ma (Pliocene). The Cloudmaker Formation is placed in the Pliocene, although a latest Miocene age for the basal sediments cannot be ruled out.Stratigraphie, sedimentologic, and paleontologic evidence suggests that Beardmore valley was occupied by a fjord and tidewater glacier system that extended at least 165 km through the Transantarctic Mountains from the southwestern Ross Sea. The stratigraphy of The Cloudmaker Formation consists of a succession of members separated by disconformities. It is hypothesised that these strata were deposited by a dynamic valley glacier system that underwent a history of glacier advance and grounding alternating with glacier retreat and flotation over a marine water column. A combination of fjord basin sediment filling and sea-level oscillations may also have influenced the pattern of glacier ice advance and retreat within Beardmore Paleofjord. The marine Cloudmaker Formation is overlain by the terrestrial diamicton dominated Meyer Desert Formation. At Oliver Bluffs, the Meyer Desert Formation diamictons are interbedded with fluvial, and lacustrine sediments; successions that contain in situ vascular plant fossils (principally the Southern Beech Nothofagus), mosses, and beetle remains. A Magellanic-type flora and fauna occupied the coastal margins of the Beardmore Paleofjord. The vertical transition from the basal marine Cloudmaker Formation to terrestrial Meyer Desert Formation provides a sea-level datum that can be used to assess the extent of post-Sirius Group tectonic uplift. Uplift rates at the Cloudmaker section, 90 km inland from the Transantarctic Mountain front or rift shoulder margin in the Queen Alexandra Mountain block are determined to be ~ 429 or ~ 350 m/Myr. This assumes a total uplift of 1331 m for the uppermost marine sediments of the Cloudmaker Formation, and maximum diatom-based ages for the Sirius Group of < 3.1 Ma or < 3.8 Ma. Gross similarities in stratigraphy and interpreted paleoenvironments are apparent between The Cloudmaker succession (Beardmore Paleofjord) and the upper Miocene-Pliocene successions at the mouth of Taylor Paleofjord, 800 km to the north. Contrasting present day elevational settings for these two widely separated marine successions indicates the post-Sirius rate of tectonic uplift for the Transantarctic Mountains has been significantly greater in the Queen Alexandra block.  相似文献

The Azores Archipelago is a group of isolated islands located in the North Atlantic Ocean. One of these oceanic islands – Santa Maria – exhibits marine fossiliferous sediments of late Miocene/early Pliocene and also of Pleistocene age. Recent research provided new selachian fossil material, with three new records (Carcharias acutissima, Megaselachus megalodon, and Carcharhinus cf. leucas) increasing the number of fossil sharks reported from the Azores (Santa Maria Island) to seven species (Notorynchus primigenius, Cacutissima, Cosmopolitodus hastalis, Paratodus benedenii, Isurus oxyrinchus, Mmegalodon, and C. cf. leucas). So far, no teeth of batoids or small sharks have been found despite the screen-washing of several sediment samples from Santa Maria. The Azorean Mio-Pliocene selachian fauna clearly differs from those described from sediments deposited on continental shelves, in which batoids and small benthic sharks (e.g., scyliorhinids) are usually well represented. During the late Miocene/early Pliocene, subtropical to warm-temperate seas were prevalent in the area of the Azores, as deduced from palaeontological, geological and isotopic data, all indicating a warmer climate than in the present.  相似文献

Occurrence, preservation and evidence of plant–insect interactions in the leaf deposits of the early Miocene Geumgwangdong Formation are described, and the taphonomy and palaeoenvironmental implications are interpreted. The Geumgwangdong leaf beds are tuffaceous lacustrine deposits consisting mainly of thin-bedded sediments, including shale. Deposition was dominated through the vertical aggradation of fine-grained sediments by suspension sedimentation, rather than by the fluvial deposition of coarse-grained sediments. The majority of the fossil leaves were preserved by compression rather than merely preserved as impressions. The Geumgwangdong leaf deposits can be characterised as a wind-transported, dysaerobic, deep-water, lake taphofacies with some influence of water-transport. The fossil flora of the Geumgwandong Formation consists of 64 taxa belonging to 27 families and 43 genera. The dominant taxa were Metasequoia, Fagus, Betula, Quercus, Acer, Zelkova, and Leguminosae, which is comparable to the Early Miocene cool–temperate Aniai-type Flora of north-east Japan. The similarity between the lake settings of the Geumgwangdong Formation and the Aniai Coal-bearing Formation might have been a factor in the development of similar plant–fossil assemblages. Although traces of insect damage in the fossil leaves of the Geumgwangdong Formation were commonly observed, more than 90% of the damaged leaves showed a low level of diversity and degree of insect damage (< 10%), which is indicative of a cool–temperate palaeoclimatic condition. Despite latitudinal differences and geographic separation, the development of similar floras in the Geumgwangdong Formation of south-east Korea and the Aniai Coal-bearing Formation of north-east Japan during the early Miocene could have been influenced by the incipient NW–SE sea-floor spreading that resulted in the opening of the East Sea (Sea of Japan), which might have enabled floral migration between the two regions. This study provides useful data for understanding not only the taphonomy and palaeoenviroments of the leaf deposits, but also the spatial development of the flora resulting from palaeogeographic changes driven by tectonic movement during the early Miocene in Far East Asia.  相似文献

Volcanic disturbances and ecosystem recovery at sites of neritic carbonate production are rarely documented, neither in the recent nor past geological record. Herein, we present a Middle Miocene (ca 14.5 Ma) shallow-marine carbonate record from the Styrian Basin (Austria) that shows recurrent breakdowns of the carbonate producers (i.e., coralline red algae and zooxanthellate corals) in response to ashfalls from nearby volcanic island sources. These volcanic events are preserved as distinct marl layers with idiomorphic biotite crystals and volcaniclasts that mantle the former seafloor topography. The pyroclastic sediments suffocated the carbonate producers in coral reef and seagrass environments. A subsequent turbid, eutrophic phase caused by the redistribution, suspension, and dissolution of volcaniclastics is characterized by the spreading of suspension-feeding biota, coralline algae, and the larger benthic foraminifer Planostegina. During this stage, rapidly consolidated pyroclastic deposits acted as hard grounds for attached-living bivalves. The fact that the facies below and above the studied ashbeds are almost identical suggests that volcaniclastic events had no long-lasting effects on the structure of the carbonate-producing benthic communities. Although Miocene shallow-water carbonate systems of the circum-Mediterranean region are well known and situated in one of the geodynamically most active regions worldwide, this study is the first that exams the impact of volcanic sedimentation events on shallow marine ecosystems.  相似文献

A landfall in the east Westphalian-Lippean area contains a breccia of Keuper, Liassic and Miocene (marine Reinbekian) sediments. Within the Reinbekian sediments calcareous nannoplankton, diversified foraminiferal assemblages, ostracods, lamellibranchiates and gastropods, including a new subspecies ofAlvania (A.) curta, were found. Furthermore, foraminiferal and calcareous nannoplankton assemblages of Santonian to Campanian age are present. On the basis of these occurrences, the paleogeographic conception of the past coastline of the Westphalian Upper Cretaceous sea as well as of the southern extension of the boreal Middle Miocene sea can be revised. A gulf, stretching to the South, may have connected the North Sea basin with the basin of Mayence and the upper Rhine valley through the Hessian depression for certain periods during the Middle Miocene.  相似文献

Carbonate sedimentation concurrent with submarine volcanism is very rare in the geologic record but is well displayed in the Early to Middle Miocene Conejo Volcanics of the central Santa Monica Mountains of southern California. Limestone occurs as lenticular deposits on the surface of composite flows units, as matrix within breccia of pebble- to cobble-size volcanic clasts, within primary voids extending down from flow surfaces, as lenses between flows within composite flow units, and as neptunian dikes. The common depositional sequence is of limestone lying on a flow and being overlain by hyaloclastic breccia. Limestone is not deposited on hyaloclastic breccia. Limestone deposition was controlled locally by relief on the sea floor that formed as the volcanic rocks accumulated. The limestone is predominantly skeletal packstone; volcanic clasts ranging in size from silt to boulders are locally common. Major constituent fossils are shallow-water bivalve mollusks, barnacles, serpulids, and regular echinoids; most are epifaunal and hard-substrate taxa in contrast to the soft-substrate and burrowing infaunal biota otherwise dominant in Cenozoic strata along the Pacific Coast of North America. The biota is diagnostic of a non-tropical, warm temperate environment. The limestone was deposited within a local basin that formed along the plate boundary at the western margin of the North American Plate. While volcanic rocks accumulated in the basin at bathyal depth, carbonate sediment accumulated on the outer-shelf margin of the basin and was transported intermittently into the basin by gravity flow. Neogene limestone occurs at only a few other sites in southern California. These have an origin that is similar to those in the Conejo Volcanics but differ in occurring with basin fill of diatomaceous sedimentary rocks rather than of submarine volcanics.  相似文献

The Paratethys evolved as a marginal sea during the Alpine–Himalayan orogeny in the Oligo-Miocene. Sediments from the northern Alpine Molasse Basin, the Vienna, and the Pannonian Basins located in the western and central part of the Paratethys thus provide unique information on regional changes in climate and oceanography during a period of active Alpine uplift. Oxygen isotope compositions of well-preserved phosphatic fossils recovered from the sediments support deposition under sub-tropical to warm-temperate climate with water temperatures of 14 to 28 °C for the Miocene. δ18O values of fossil shark teeth are similar to those reported for other Miocene marine sections and, using the best available estimates of their biostratigraphic age, show a variation until the end of the Badenian similar to that reported for composite global record. The 87Sr/86Sr isotope ratios of the fossils follow the global Miocene seawater trend, albeit with a much larger scatter. The deviations of 87Sr/86Sr in the samples from the well-constrained seawater curve are interpreted as due to local input of terrestrially-derived Sr. Contribution of local sources is also reflected in the εNd values, consistent with input from ancient crystalline rocks (e.g., Bohemian Massif) and/or Mesozoic sediments with εNd < ? 9. On the other hand, there is evidence for input from areas with Neogene volcanism as suggested by samples with elevated εNd values > ? 7. Excluding samples showing local influence on the water column, an average εNd value of ? 7.9 ± 0.5 may be inferred for the Miocene Paratethys. This value is indistinguishable from the εNd value of the contemporaneous Indian Ocean, supporting a dominant role of this ocean in the Western and Central Paratethys.  相似文献

A new Miocene shrew from east Central Spain is described. The new form, named Turiasorex pierremeini nov. gen., nov. sp., was found in 13-10–Ma old sediments of the Calatayud-Daroca and Teruel basins. It is characterized by an extreme dental morphology consisting of elements with low length-width ratios, implying a relatively short snout. Such an adaptation could point to a hypogeal life style – using burrows made by other mammals – with a non-standard shrew diet consisting not only of insects, but also of earthworms and possibly small vertebrates such as lizards.  相似文献

The paper presents preliminary characteristics of a new perisphinctid assemblage from the Lower Oxfordian section of Zalas near Krakow, regarded as the classic one for southern Poland. The assemblage is derived from strata of the Cordatum Subzone, Cordatum Zone. Two major groups of perisphinctids are differentiated. The assemblage appears similar to those described by Neumann from Cetechowitz 〚12〛, Bourseau from ‘Terres noires’ of de Beauvoisin in France 〚2〛, and Gygi from Switzerland 〚9〛. It fills very well a gap in our knowledge of this fauna from upper parts of the Lower Oxfordian and further studies should make it possible to propose and define a new biostratigraphic unit. A new ammonite species Perisphinctes (Arisphinctes?) orbignyi n. sp. is described. Its name is given to commemorate the bicentenary of the birth of Alcide d’Orbigny and his contribution to the developments of stratigraphy of the Mesozoic, especially Jurassic strata.  相似文献

Lysine, threonine, methionine and isoleucine are synthesized through the aspartate metabolic pathway. The concentrations of soluble lysine and threonine in cereal seeds are very low. Coix lacryma-jobi (coix) is a maize-related grass and the enzymological aspects of the aspartate metabolic pathway are completely unknown. In order to obtain information on lysine metabolism in this plant species, two enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of these amino acids (aspartate kinase 〚AK, EC 2.7.2.4〛 and homoserine dehydrogenase 〚HSDH, EC 1.1.1.3〛) and two enzymes involved in lysine degradation (lysine 2-oxoglutarate reductase 〚LOR, EC 1.5.1.8〛 and saccharopine dehydrogenase 〚SDH, EC 1.5.1.9〛) were isolated and partially characterized in coix seeds. AK activity was inhibited by threonine and lysine separately, suggesting the presence of two isoenzymes, one sensitive to lysine and the other sensitive to threonine, with the latter corresponding to approximately 60% of the total AK activity. In contrast to previous results from other plant species, the threonine-sensitive AK eluted from an ion exchange chromatography column at higher KCl concentration than the lysine-sensitive form. The HSDH activity extracted from the seeds was partially inhibited by threonine, indicating the presence of threonine-sensitive and threonine-resistant isoenzymes. LOR and SDH activities were detected only in the endosperm tissue and co-purified on an anion exchange chromatography column, suggesting that the two activities may be linked on a single bifunctional polypeptide, as observed for other plant species. One single SDH activity band was observed on non-denaturing PAGE gels. The Km for saccharopine of SDH was determined as 0.143 mM and the Km for NAD as 0.531 mM. Although SDH activity was shown to be stable, LOR, AK and HSDH were extremely unstable, under all buffer systems tested.  相似文献

The Middle Miocene sediments of Maboko Island (Lake Victoria) in western Kenya yielded numerous avian bones, which remained, however, little studied. The significance of this material is shown by the recent identification of an opisthocomiform bird. In the present study, further avian remains from Maboko Island are described. Most of the specimens belong to aquatic or semi-aquatic groups, of which some are closely related to taxa known from Early and Middle Miocene European avifaunas, that is, Nectornis cormorants (N. africanus nov. sp.) and Laricola-like Laromorphae. The fossil material also includes Ciconiidae (cf. Ciconia), Pelecanidae, Phoenicopteridae (Leakeyornis aethiopicus), Musophagidae, and a species of Ardeidae, which closely resembles the taxon Pikaihao from the Early Miocene of New Zealand. Some avian remains from Maboko Island belong to higher-level taxa unknown from the Middle Miocene of Europe. The occurrence of a giant Jacanidae (?Nupharanassa mabokoensis nov. sp.) is of particular interest, because these are globally absent in extant avifaunas and were previously only known from the Late Eocene/Early Oligocene of Egypt. Further unknown from contemporaneous European sites are small representatives of Jacanidae, Bucerotidae, and Alcedinidae, with the fossils of the latter two taxa being among the earliest published records of their respective groups. Several of the taxa that are common in contemporaneous European avifaunas have not been found in Maboko, and in spite of less pronounced climatic differences, Middle Miocene Afrotropical avifaunas already appear to have been distinct from contemporaneous European ones.  相似文献

Foraminifera and diatoms have been analyzed from an upper Miocene through Pleistocene(?) sequence of marine sediments exposed on Maria Madre Island, largest of the Trés Marias Islands off the Pacific coast of Mexico. The Neogene stratigraphic sequence exposed on Maria Madre Island includes a mid-Miocene(?) non-marine and/or shallow marine sandstone unconformably overlain by a lower upper Miocene to uppermost Miocene upper to middle bathyal laminated and massive diatomite, mudstone, and siltstone unit. This unit is unconformably overlain by lower Pliocene middle to lower bathyal sandstones and siltstones which, in turn, are unconformably overlain by upper Pliocene through Pleistocene(?) upper bathyal to upper middle bathyal foraminiferal limestones and siltstones. These beds are unconformably capped by Pleistocene terrace deposits. Basement rocks on the island include Cretaceous granite and granodiorite, and Tertiary(?) andesites and rhyolites. The upper Miocene diatomaceous unit contains a low diversity foraminiferal fauna dominated by species of Bolivina indicating low oxygen conditions in the proto-Gulf Maria Madre basin. The diatomaceous unit grades into a mudstone that contains a latest Miocene upper to middle bathyal biofacies characterized by Baggina californica and Uvigerina hootsi along with displaced neritic taxa. An angular unconformity separates the upper Miocene middle bathyal sediments from overlying lower Pliocene siltstones and mudstones that contain a middle to lower bathyal biofacies and abundant planktonic species including Neogloboquadrina acostaensis and Pulleniatina primalis indicating an early Pliocene age. Significantly, this Pliocene unit contains common occurrences of benthic species restricted to Miocene sediments in California including Bulimina uvigerinaformis. Pliocene to Pleistocene(?) foraminiferal limestones and siltstones characterize submarine bank accumulations formed during uplift of the Trés Marias Island area, and include abundant planktonic foraminifera such as Pulleniatina obliquiloculata and Neogloboquadrina duterteri. Common benthic foraminifera in this unit are indicative of upper bathyal water depths. The Neogene depositional history recorded on Maria Madre Island involves an early late Miocene subsidence event marking formation of the Trés Marias Basin with relatively undiluted diatomaceous sediment deposited in a low oxygen setting. Subsidence and deepening of the basin continued into the early Pliocene along with rapid deposition of terrigenous clastics. Uplift of the basinal sequence began in late Pliocene time accompanied by deposition of upper Pliocene-Pleistocene foraminiferal limestones on a rising submarine bank. Continued episodic uplift of the Neogene deposits brought the island above sea level by late Pleistocene time.  相似文献

Three types of Miocene claystones (amorphous, lamellar, and transitional) were aseptically sampled from depths of 30 m and 150 m below the soil surface. Respiration of these sediments was measured under conditions that prevented inoculation by other microorganisms not indigenous to the claystones in situ. Microbial respiration was higher in lamellar than amorphous claystones and was not affected by sampling depth. During cultivation, microbial biomass (as indicated by PLFA) significantly increased. Microbial biomass after cultivation was significantly higher in sediments from 30 m than from 150 m depth. Both microbial respiration and biomass increased after glucose addition.  相似文献

The Asmari Formation in Marun oilfield (south-west Iran), is about 440 m-thick marine carbonate succession with subordinate siliciclastic rocks, characterized by abundant benthic foraminifera (perforate and imperforate). Foraminiferal biostratigraphy indicates that this unit is Oligocene–Miocene in age. The distribution of benthic foraminifera and other components have led to the recognition of three siliciclastic and ten carbonate facies that were deposited in inner ramp (shoreline, tidal flat, restricted and open lagoon and shoal), middle and outer ramp sub-environments. Based on vertical facies trends, three third-order sequences in the Oligocene and three third-order sequences in the Miocene sediments have been identified. These depositional sequences are bounded by both type 1 and type 2 sequence boundaries. The transgressive systems tracts (TST) of sequences show deepening-upward facies trend with a gradual upward increase in perforate foraminifera, whereas the highstand systems tracts (HST) have a shallowing-upward facies trend and contain predominantly imperforate foraminifera. Deposition of these depositional sequences (DS) were controlled by both eustasy and tectonic subsidence.  相似文献
