Evolutionary lineages of several limnic gastropod genera (Viviparus, Melanopsis, Theodoxus) from the Neogene of Kos island (Dodecanese, Greece) are described and interpreted. The attempt is made to analyse the paleoecological development of a limnic sedimentary basin in the eastern portion of Kos by means of Diatoms. Obviously, there is no relation between the chemical parameters of the water of the former lake and the morphological development of the gastropods. The lineages of Viviparus brevis, Theodoxus doricus and Melanopsis gorceixi are suggested to be caused by phyletic transformations and not by changing environmental conditions. It is, thus, possible to establish a local biostratigraphy based on subspecies, and moreover, a more regional one based on longer ranging species.  相似文献

Purpose

The authors present a clinical report of a perforate syringocele diagnosed in a male patient and they review the clinical, radiological and therapeutic aspects of this disease.

Case report

A 50-year-old man attended the emergency room with perineal abscess. Computerized Tomography (CT) scan was used to establish the diagnosis. This patient also underwent urethrocystoscopy, sonography and retrograde urethrography.

Results

Treatment consisted of open surgical evacuation of the perineal abscess with bladder catheter. Urethrocystoscopy showed a large perforate syringocele in the urethra with no need for endoscopy marsupialization. No recurrence was observed at follow-up at 3 months.

Conclusion

Syringocele is a rare malformation which usually is asymptomatic. It can be congenital or acquired and can be classified into four morphological types. The most frequent treatment is endoscopic marsupialization of the syringocèle. Open surgical excision is recommended for complicated syringocèle with abscess or perineal pain.  相似文献

For the Uppermost Miocene the already known zones MN 9 to MN 13 are used without any change; they prove to be particularly useful for the study of fossil rhinocerotids. The Plio-Villafranchian age corresponds to the zones 14 to 19, the definition of the first five being completed and the last being new. In this article, the paraplegics’ possibilities for procreation will be examined. A first chapter will deal with the testicle functioning along with the study of hormonal measuring and testicle histology (study involving 100 patients). As a result, it appears that, after a testicle biopsy, there is a testicle lesion of neurological origin that is sometimes irreversible. On the contrary, the endocrinal testicle lesions have proved reversible under stimulation or spontaneously. A second chapter will deal with the different techniques to obtain an ejaculation and the semen analysis. The techniques that were used being: massage by vibrator, electroejaculation, ejaculation through pharmacological stimulation. The study focuses on 124 ejaculatory tests among which 64 forward ejaculations (52%) and 4 bachward ejaculations (3%) were obtained. The resulting semen analysis revealed a spermatozoon count greater than 20 millions per millilitre (that is 51,5%) and smaller than 5 millions in 11 cases (16%).  相似文献

Crocodilian remains collected at the turn of the centuryin the early Bartonian locality of La Livinière (Hérault, southern France) belong to a ziphodont mesosuchian. They include compressed, serrated teeth, primitive jugals, amphicoelous vertebrae, dermal scutes, and elongated, slender limb bones. The systematic position of this animal is difficult to determine, but it is more reminiscent of some forms from the upper Cretaceous of South America than of the Tertiary Sebecidae. It may be related to Iberosuchus, a ziphodont mesosuchian from the Eocene of the Iberian peninsula. Its peculiar limb bones confirm the terrestrial habits of ziphodont crocodilians.  相似文献

Reworked benthic microfauna and microflora have been discovered in the Culm Carboniferous of the 〈Zone Primaire Axiale〉 (Western Pyrénées, Béarn).About fifty different species of Foraminifera have been identified, notably: Asteroarchaediscus, Neoarchaediscus, Eolasiodiscus, Eostaffella, Plectostaffella, Pseudostaffella.The associations as well as Algae and Conodontsfound with them indicate a Namurian C age (Lower Bashkirian G1, Zones 20–21).Paleogeographical consequences on a regional and Paleotethys scale are discussed.  相似文献

A skeleton of a Channid fish is reported for the first time from the European Lower Miocene. Because of the lack of any appropriate diagnostic character, it is nevertheless impossible to determine if it belongs either to the Asiatic genusChanna Scopoli or to the African one,Parachanna Teugels &Daget. For this reason, its palaeobiogeographical significance remains unclear. Otoliths (sagitta) that very likely belong to the same Channid species have been described from Illerkirchberg asChanna elliptica (vonSalis). They are compared to the sagitta from recent species of the generaChanna (Scopoli) andParachanna (Teugels &Daget). Their morphological characters are intermediate between those characterizing the sagitta of both genera.  相似文献

The discovery of well-preserved Radiolaria yielded into a single phosphatic nodule from Carboniferous lydites of Bareilles (Hautes-Pyrénées, France) allowed the identification of ten genera and nineteen species. Four of these species are new. The separation of the fauna from the phosphatic matrix has permitted it to be studied with the scanning electron microscope and to be correlated with faunas recently described by the same process. At least, seven species are identical with middle and upper Tournaisian phosphatic nodules from the Montagne Noire (Deflandre and Deflandre-Rigaud, 1944, Deflandre, 1973b) and from Istanbul, Turkey (Holdsworth, 1973), and eight others with Visean from the «Rheinische Schiefergebirge, West Germany (Won, 1983). The author questions the age of lydites from Hautes-Pyrénées, attributed to middle to upper Tournaisian (early Mississippian).  相似文献

Charcoal remains, evidence of ancient fire, have been discovered in the dolines of the asylvatic or deforested sub Mediterranean area, from the ‘Grands Causses’. First 14C AMS dating on Pinus cf. sylvestris charcoal, cover the period 4805–2990 yr BP. This testifies to the development of a pine forest in the transition Middle–Late Holocene. The existence of several phases of fires, affecting the forests in the northwestern areas of the Causse during the second part of the Holocene is also proved. Human leukocyte antigens (HLA) are transmembrane bicatenar glycoproteins; their heavy chain is coded by chromosome 6 and carries allotypic determinants. These molecules are present in nearly every cell, tissue and biologic fluid. Their congenital absence from fibroblasts is associated with progeria, while their absence from lymphocytes is associated with immunodeficiency. HLA antigens are usually studied microlymphocytotoxicity tests. The numerous cross-reactions encountered make the interpretation of results quite difficult. To clearly understand these reactions a complex-complex model is mandatory. The antigen, the HLA molecule, is complex since it carries many antigenic determinants; some of them are private ("subtypic"), while others are public ("subtypic"). Anti-HLA antibodies are also complex since they are heterogeneous, reacting with variable affinity with different antigenic determinants. The in vitro cross-reactions represent a partial explanation for varying cross-immunogenicity in vivo.  相似文献

Four new species of Splendidofilariinae from different families of lizards are described: Thamugadia wertheimae n. sp., from Acanthodactylus b. boskianus from Israel, Madathamugadia versterae n. sp., from Mabuya capensis from the Northern Transvaal; M. bissani n. sp., from Mabuya quinquetaeniata from Mali; and M. ineichi n. sp., from Pseudocordylus microlepidotus melanotus from the Orange Free State. The life-cycle of M. ineichi is described. It occurs in a Phlebotomus species and is similar to the two known life-cycles in the genus. The new combination Madathamugadia huambensis (Petit, Bain, Gomes & Touratier, 1983) is proposed for the filarial worm from Mabuya aff. quinquetaeniata in Angola, previously placed in the genus Piratuboides (Oswaldofilariinae). Pseudothamugadia physignathi, from Physignathus lesueurii in Australia, is redescribed. In New Guinea, this filarid, or a closely related species, is a parasite of Chlamydosaurus kingii. The presence of splendidofilariines in lizards from southern and western Africa is a new finding. These Ethiopian species show several original characteristics but exhibit affinities with the two Madathamugadia spp. from Malagasy. M. ineichi appears to be a primitive form with a well-developed buccal capsule and well-developed pre- and post-cloacal papillae. Two lines appear to derive from this group: the first is characterised by the reduction of the post-cloacal papillae and comprises the eight species of Madathamugadia in the Ethiopian and Mediterranean regions; the second line is characterised by a reduction of the pre-cloacal papillae and includes the four species of Thamugadia in the Mediterranean region. Morphologically, Pseudothamugadia appears to be closely related to Madathamugadia.  相似文献

As the vas deferens is also absent in the majority of CF (cystic fibrosis) males, it has been proposed that CBAVD (Congenital Bilateral Absence of Vas Deferens) males may present an incomplete or mild form of CF. Many studies using more extensive mutation analysis have confirmed the role of CFTR gene defects: 80% of CBAVD patients carry one or two mutations. Each patient with a diagnosis of CBAVD should also be examined for pulmonary and pancreatic signs, and sweat tests should be performed. In couples with CBAVD linked to CFTR mutations, the risk of having children with CF or infertility is increased if the female is also a carrier. The woman should be screened for the most frequent CFTR mutations according to her ethnic background. After screening for 80% of the mutations responsible for CF, the residual risk of being a carrier with negative screening is: Z=h(1?a)/(1?ah)=1/120 considering a carrier frequency of 1/25 in the general population. In the case of positive screening, antenatal diagnosis by chorionic villus sampling may be proposed. However, in some situations it is difficult to predict the phenotypic consequences for the child, particularly when a severe transmutation of a variable allele is identified. As these couples require medically-assisted reproduction techniques, pre-implantation genetic diagnosis appears to be more appropriate than antenatal diagnosis. Only embryos that inherit the non-mutated maternal CFTR allele are replaced in the uterus. Examination of childre born to couples with CBAVD is mandatory: immunoreactive trypsinogen assay at 3 days of age, sweat test at 3 months and clinical examination, especially looking for signs of CF. Identification of CFTR mutations in a CBAVD patient has important consequences for his family. Each sibling has a 50% risk of being a carrier and a 25% risk of inheriting the same genotype. The genetic counsellor must inform these siblings about the possible risk of having CF children if they carry CFTR mutations and if their partner is also a carrier.  相似文献

Summary The regeneration (organogenesis was studied by Emig, 1972 a, b) of Phoronida can be divided into three phases: the first one, cicatrisation, is characterized by a provisional mesodermal scar-tissue, later the old epidermis cover this scar-tissue. The regenerating blastema, second phase, takes place by cellular dedifferentiation processes; each germ layer (ectoderm, mesoderm, endoderm) regenerates itself from its own elements. One exception only seems to be oesophagel regeneration by metaplasia of the prestomacal cells during the asexual reproduction. The differentiation of the amputated structures (third phase) appears submitted to the inductive influence of the mesoderm and to the trophic action of the nervous system (especially the epithelial plexus). The polarity in regeneration sets a problem in Phoronida.
