The examination of gill parasites from Pangasius micronemao Bleeker, 1847 (Siluriformes, Pangasiidae) in Southeast Asia revealed the presence of nine species of Monogenea. Two (Thoparocleidus brevicochleus Pariselle, Lim & Lambert, 2001 and T. sinespinoe Pariselle, Lim & Lambert, 2001) have been previously described. Among the others, six species, belonging to Thaporocleidus Jain, 1952 (Monogenea, Ancylodiscoididae) as defined by Lim (1996) and Lim et al. (2001), are considered new species: T. tacitus n. sp., T. summagracilis n. sp., T. portentosus n. sp., T rukyonii n. sp., T. durandi n. sp., and T. lebrunce n. sp. The remaining species is represented by too few individuals to be conclusively described.  相似文献

During a parasitological survey carried out between March and September 2003 in Cuba, the following monogeneans were found on the gills of freshwater fishes: Salsuginus cubensis n. sp. on the Cuban molly Limia vittata Guichenot (Poeciliidae); Cichlidogyrus sclerosus Paperna & Thurston, 1969 and C. tilapiae Paperna, 1960 on the African cichlid Tilapia rendalli Boulenger (Cichlidae); Haplocleidus dispar Mueller, 1936 and Pterocleidus acer Mueller, 1936 (all Dactylogyridae) on the sunfish Lepomis macrochirus Rafinesque (Centrarchidae) (new geographical records); and Gyrodactylus sp. (Gyrodactylidae) on the biajaca Nandopsis tetracanthus Valenciennes (Cichlidae) (new host and geographical record). Salsuginus cubensis differs from all other species of the genus in the size and morphology of the copulatory complex. The occurrence of C. sclerosus, C. tilapiae, H. dispar and P. acer in their respective hosts is due to the introduction of these hosts to Cuba. A review of the species composition of the Monogenea in native and introduced freshwater fish from Cuba is presented and the zoogeographical distribution of the species found is briefly discussed.  相似文献

The examination of gill parasites from Pangasius bocourti Sauvage, 1880; P. djambal Bleeker, 1846; P. hypophthalmus (Sauvage, 1878) and P. gigas Chevey, 1930 (Siluriformes, Pangasiidae) revealed the presence of seven species of Monogenea among which five are considered new species. They all belong to Thaparocleidus Jain, 1952 (Ancylodiscoididae) as defined by Lim (1996) and Lim et al. (2001). P. bocourti: T. combesi n. sp., T. komarudini n. sp. and T. vietnamensis n. sp. P. djambal: T. caecus (Mizelle & Kritsky, 1969), T. combesi n. sp., T. euzeti n. sp., T. komarudini n. sp. and T. sadilii n. sp. One has been previously described (T. vietnamensis Pariselle et al., 2002), five are considered as new species: T. humerus n. sp. and T. culter n. sp. on P. kunyit; T. mehurus n. sp. and T. culteroides n. sp. on P. sabahensis; and T. phuongi n. sp. on the four studied host species. The latter one, due to slight morphometric differences linked to geographical origin of hosts, is described as made up of three sub-species: T. phuongi phuongi n. sub-sp., T. phuongi malaysiensis n. sub-sp. and T. phuongi indonesiensis n. sub-sp.  相似文献

Chandacleidus n. g. (Monogenea, Dactylogyridae) is proposed to include three species collected from the gills of Indian glassfishes (Ambassidae): Chandacleidus recurvatus (Jain, 1961) n. comb. (syn. Urocleidus recurvatus Jain, 1961) from Chanda nama and C. ranga (new host record) is redescribed; and Chandacleidus saiensis n. sp. and C. lucknowensis n. sp., both from Chanda nama and C. baculis, are described. Chandacleidus n. g. is characterised by species possessing: posteriorly united intestinal caeca; overlapping gonads (testis dorsal to ovary); a counterclockwise male copulatory organ; a grooved accessory piece; a dextro-marginal vaginal pore; a haptor with two lateral flaps and armed with dissimilar dorsal and ventral anchor/bar complexes and 14 similar hooks (dissimilar in size); and hook shanks comprised of two subunits.  相似文献

During a parasitological survey of Patagonian freshwater fishes, specimens of a new species of Monogenea were collected from the gills of Percichthys trucha (Perciformes: Percichthyidae). This species is described as the only member of a newly proposed genus of Ancyrocephalinae. Duplaccessorius n. gen. (Dactylogyridae, Ancyrocephalinae) is characterized by hooks with 2 subunits, gonads in tandem, a coiled male copulatory organ with counterclockwise rings, an accessory piece formed by 2 distinct parts, and a nonsclerotized sinistrolateral vagina with a funnel shape vestibule. Duplaccessorius andinus n. sp. infects the gills of P. trucha (Cuvier and Valenciennes, 1840) from Andean Patagonian lakes, being the first species of Ancyrocephalinae described from a South American percichthyid.  相似文献

A new nematode species, Micropleura australiensis n. sp., is described on the basis of specimens found in the peritoneal cavity of the Australian freshwater crocodile, Crocodylus johnsoni Krefft, from the Ord River area, Western Australia. The new species is mainly characterized by the length of spicules (0.360-0.366 mm) and gubernaculum (0.096-0.105 mm), the number and arrangement of male caudal papillae (4 preanal and 6 postanal pairs), and the postequatorial vulva. To date, it is the first species of Micropleura reported from Australia. Micropleura trionyxi Agrawal, 1966, and M. lissemysia Chattervati, 1985, are considered junior synonyms of M. indica Khera, 1951.  相似文献

A total of 133 ancyrocephalid species found on Nearctic freshwater fishes have been named. Of these, 103 are now considered valid; 14 and 16 have been declared previously as synonyms or species inquirendae, respectively, and Urocleidus rarus Mizelle, 1940, is designated as a species inquirenda in the present work. A cladistic analysis, based on 13 binary and 4 multistate characters and 32 apomorphic character states was carried out. Generalized forms of Entobdella, Gyrodactylus, and Tetraonchus were used to generate a hypothetical outgroup taxon. Thirteen terminal taxa emerged. Of these, 3 (the articulating bar group, Ligictaluridus, and Onchocleidus sensu Wheeler and Beverley-Burton, 1989) have been recognized previously as monophyletic; 3 (Aethycteron, Lyrodiscus, and Salsuginus) were shown to be monophyletic in the present study; 3 (Leptocleidus, Macrohaptor, and Tetracleidus) are monotypic genera; and 4 were identified as unresolved assemblages that contain a number of species considered to be incertae sedis as well as those assigned to the following genera: Aristocleidus Mueller, 1936, Urocleidus sensu Suriano and Beverley-Burton, 1981, Cleidodiscoides Mayes and Miller, 1973, and Cleidodiscus sensu Beverley-Burton and Suriano, 1980. The resultant cladogram was 40 steps long with a consistency index of 0.80. The monophyly of the ingroup is supported by 5 synapomorphies. Comparison and mapping of the parasite cladogram with/onto a family-level cladogram of hosts indicated that the present data provided no unequivocal evidence of cospeciation. Some possible origins for the Nearctic ancyrocephalids are discussed, and the need for further taxonomic studies on the Holarctic ancyrocephalids to explore the possible sister-group relationship between the Nearctic and Eurasian faunas is emphasized.  相似文献

It is hypothesized that two fish species sharing a same demersal habitat might show a similar community of parasites. The aim of this study was to compare the parasite community component of of two marine fishes on the northwest coast of México of economical interest, the vermilion rockfish Sebastes miniatus and the ocean whitefish Caulolatilus princeps. From February to December 2005, 210 specimens of S. miniatus (85–550 mm total length TL) and 91 C. princeps (85–550 mm TL) were obtained from the San Quintín sportfishing catch, at Pacific Baja California. Skin, eyes, fins and gill cavity were examined in situ, and their internal organs removed for later analysis, including a portion of flesh. In S. miniatus, 12 parasite taxa were identified as belonging to Monogenea, Digenea, Cestoda, Nematoda, Acanthocephala and Copepoda; the stomach, pyloric caeca, and intestine (digestive tract) were the most parasitized organs with seven of the 12 species. In S. miniatus, the most abundant parasite was Parabothriocephalus sagitticeps (80.8 individuals/host ± 33.4 SE: standard error), highest prevalence was Microcotyle sebastis (92.6%), and the highest average intensity of infection was the cestode P. sagitticeps (190.4 ± 48.1 SE). The C. princeps showed six species belonging to Monogenea, Digenea, Nematoda and Copepoda; the digestive tract presented the greatest infestation, with four of the six species recorded. The most abundant nematode was Hysterothylacium aduncum (16.5 ± 3.5 individuals/host), the main prevalent species was Anisakis sp., and the highest value of infection intensity was by Hatschekia sp. The nematodes Anisakis sp. and H. aduncum were shared between the two host fishes, and are a zoonotic risk to humans if the fishes are not cooked properly.  相似文献

In the dark, arylazido-beta-alanylnicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (N3-NAD) can replace NAD as cofactor for D-(-)-beta-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase (BDH) purified from bovine heart mitochondria. When photoirradiated with visible light, N3-NAD forms a nitrene species that binds covalently to BDH and inhibits the enzyme. NAD(H) protects BDH against photolabeling and inhibition by N3-NAD [Yamaguchi, M., Chen, S., & Hatefi, Y. (1985) Biochemistry 24, 4912-4916]. In the present study, a tryptic peptide of purified BDH photolabeled with arylazido-beta-[3-3H] alanyl-NAD [( 3H]N3-NAD) was isolated and sequenced. The same tryptic peptide was also isolated from BDH not labeled with [3H]N3-NAD and sequenced. Both peptides indicated the sequence Met-Glu-Ser-Tyr-Cys-Thr-Ser-Gly-Ser-Thr-Asp-Thr-Ser-Pro-Val-Ile-Lys. The residue labeled with [3H]N3-NAD was Cys. This heptadecapeptide contains 14 uncharged residues and is marked by having in an undecapeptide segment 8 hydroxy amino acids located symmetrically around a central glycine.  相似文献

Homogeneous S-adenosylhomocysteinase (AdoHcyase) from rat liver is a tetrameric enzyme that contains four molecules of tightly bound NAD per mole of enzyme. We report here that incubation of the rat liver enzyme with ATP, Mg2+, and KCl leads to conversion of the active enzyme to an inactive form with release of all enzyme-bound NAD which can be recovered quantitatively by gel filtration. At various concentrations of ATP, the release of NAD corresponds closely with the degree of inactivation, suggesting that the four subunits are equivalent. Hydrolysis of ATP is not required for the inactivation process since nonhydrolyzable ATP analogues can replace ATP in the inactivation process. The ATP-dependent inactivation is fully reversible upon incubation of the inactivated enzyme with NAD. The ATP-dependent inactivation of the enzyme appears to be analogues to the cAMP-dependent inactivation of the enzyme from Dictyostelium discoideum described earlier by Hohman et al. (1985) [Hohman, R. J., Guitton, M. C., & Veron, M. (1985) Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 82, 4578-4581; Hohman, R. J., Veron, M., & Guitton, M. C. (1985) Curr. Top. Cell. Regul. 26, 233-245] but differs from the irreversible inactivation studied earlier by Abeles et al. (1982) [Abeles, R. H., Fish, S., & Lapinskas, B. (1982) Biochemistry 21, 5557-5562]. The species of the pseudophyllidean genus Bothriocephalus Rudolphi, 1808 parasitising freshwater fishes in America are revised, based on the examination of type and voucher specimens of seven taxa. There are five valid species: Bothriocephalus claviceps (Goeze, 1782), B. cuspidatus Cooper, 1917, B. formosus Mueller & Van Cleave, 1932, B. acheilognathi Yamaguti, 1934, and B. pearsei Scholz, Vargas-Vázquez & Moravec, 1996. B. texomensis Self, 1954 from Hiodon alosoides in the USA, and B. musculosus Baer, 1937 from a cichlid Cichlasoma biocellatum (= C. octofasciatum) which died in an aquarium in Switzerland, are synonymised with B. cuspidatus. B. schilbeodis Cheng & James, 1960 from Schilbeodes insignis in the USA, B. speciosus (Leidy, 1858) Leidy, 1872 from Boleostoma olmstedi in the USA, and B. cestus Leidy, 1885 from Salvelinus sp. in Canada are considered to be species inquirendae until new material for the evaluation of their taxonomic status is available. B. cordiceps (Leidy, 1872) from Salmo (= Salvelinus) fontinalis in North America is in fact a larva (plerocercoid) of a Diphyllobothrium species. The study showed that there have been many misidentifications, mostly of B. cuspidatus erroneously designated as B. formosus or B. claviceps. The five valid species are redescribed and illustrated, with emphasis on scolex morphology. The distribution of individual taxa and the spectrum of their definitive hosts are briefly reviewed and a key facilitating identification of individual species is also provided.  相似文献

Myxobolus bilobus n. sp. (Myxozoa) is described from golden shiner Notemigonus crysoleucas in Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada. Plasmodia develop at the distal end of gill filaments, where they form a novel-shaped plasmodium made up of 2 side-by-side hemispheres joined at a central pore. Surrounding gill tissue is vacuolated, necrotic, and hemorrhagic. Spores of M. bilobus n. sp. resemble those of M. aureatus Ward, 1919, M. angustus Kudo, 1934, M. spalli Landsberg & Lom, 1991, and M. pseudokoi Li & Desser, 1985 in parasitizing cyprinids and in their pyriform shape. Spores of M. bilobus n. sp., however, are much larger (20 to 22.1 microm long, 7.5 to 9.3 microm wide, and 6 microm thick) than those of these other species, and the plasmodium is bi-lobed rather than the typical hollow sphere. A phylogenetic analysis of the 18S rDNA (2014 bp) reveals that M. bilobus n. sp. is a member of a clade that includes 11 species of Myxobolus, all of which are parasites of cyprinid fishes in North America or Eurasia. The study concludes that M. bilobus n. sp. is a member of a clade that has undergone radiation within cyprinid fishes of the 2 continents and that this evolution has involved both host and site switching.  相似文献

The Monogenea, which is divided into two clades, namely the Monopisthocotylea and Polyopisthocotylea, is a highly diversified group of platyhelminth parasites that infest mainly actinopterygian and chondrichthyan fishes but also, to a lesser extent, freshwater sarcopterygian hosts. Euzetrema knoepffleri Combes, 1965 (Monogenea: Iagotrematidae), which is specific to the salamander Euproctus montanus Savi, 1838 is among the rare monopisthocotylean parasites infesting tetrapod hosts. We sequenced the complete 18S rRNA gene of this parasite to infer its phylogenetic position within the Monopisthocotylea. Our results provide a new insight for coevolutionary scenarios between monopisthocotyleans and gnathostomatan hosts. Indeed, the basal position of E. knoepffleri within a subgroup of the Monopisthocotylea which comprises two clusters that both include parasites of the Actinopterygii and Chondrichthyes, suggests a very old association between the Iagotrematidae and tetrapods. Furthermore, if we take into account a recent view of Gnathostomata evolution where bony and cartilaginous fishes are regarded as a monophyletic group, it could be argued that the Iagotrematidae arose very early, during the fish–tetrapod transition, as did the Polystomatidae, the only monogenean family of the Polyopisthocotylea that infests sarcopterygian hosts.  © 2003 The Linnean Society of London, Biological Journal of the Linnean Society , 2003, 80 , 727–734.  相似文献
