南亚热带不同林龄红锥人工林碳贮量与碳固定特征   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6  
采用乡土珍贵阔叶树种改造大面积针叶人工纯林已经成为我国亚热带地区人工林近自然化经营的有效模式.采用样地调查与生物量实测方法,研究了我国南亚热带广西3个不同林龄红锥人工林(10、20和27年生)的不同器官、凋落物层和土壤层的碳含量,以及不同林龄红锥人工林的乔木层、凋落物层和土壤层碳贮量及其分配特征.结果表明:红锥不同器官碳含量为49.7%~57.9%;凋落物层碳含量为40.8% ~ 50.5%,而且未分解层>半分解层;土壤层(0~60 cm)碳含量随林龄增加而增大,随土层深度的增加而下降.10、20和27年生红锥人工林碳贮量分别为182.42、234.75和269.75 t·hm-2,其中,乔木层分别占19.8%、32.0%和32.8%,凋落物层分别占1.5%、1.6%和1.3%,土壤层分别占78.7%、66.4%和65.9%.3个红锥人工林的年净固碳量分别为4.70、5.64和5.18 t· hm-2.红锥具有较高的固碳能力,是发展多目标森林经营模式的理想树种.  相似文献

为研究匍匐茎草本植物对基质养分供应水平的生物量分配格局的可塑性,在一盆栽实验中对绢毛匍匐委陵菜(Potentilla reptans var. sericophylla)进行了8种不同的养分处理。绢毛匍匐委陵菜植株生物量、匍匐茎数、分株数以及匍匐茎节间长在中等养分条件下最大。随土壤养分的降低,绢毛匍匐委陵菜对叶片和叶柄的生物量投资减小,而对根系的生物量投资增加。在中等养分条件下,绢毛匍匐委陵菜对匍匐茎的生物量投资倾向于最大,而在更高或更低的养分条件下倾向于减少。此生物量分配格局与de Kroon和Schieving的模型模拟结果相符合,结果表明在中等资源水平下增加对匍匐茎的生物量投资是克隆植物增加资源获取的对策之一。  相似文献

The most common objective for response-adaptive clinical trials is to seek to ensure that patients within a trial have a high chance of receiving the best treatment available by altering the chance of allocation on the basis of accumulating data. Approaches that yield good patient benefit properties suffer from low power from a frequentist perspective when testing for a treatment difference at the end of the study due to the high imbalance in treatment allocations. In this work we develop an alternative pairwise test for treatment difference on the basis of allocation probabilities of the covariate-adjusted response-adaptive randomization with forward-looking Gittins Index (CARA-FLGI) Rule for binary responses. The performance of the novel test is evaluated in simulations for two-armed studies and then its applications to multiarmed studies are illustrated. The proposed test has markedly improved power over the traditional Fisher exact test when this class of nonmyopic response adaptation is used. We also find that the test's power is close to the power of a Fisher exact test under equal randomization.  相似文献

干物质分配与转移是观赏植物外观品质形成的基础,受水分影响极大.本文以切花百合品种‘索邦’为试验材料,于2009年3月至2010年1月在南京的连栋温室内开展了不同定植期和不同水分处理的栽培试验,定量分析了不同定植期和不同水分处理条件下切花百合干物质分配和转移的变化规律,以及基质水势对百合地上部和地下部各器官(花、茎、叶、鳞茎、茎生根)干物质分配指数的动态影响,并确定了切花百合正常生长的临界基质水势,最终建立了基质水势对切花百合植株干物质分配影响的动态预测模型.结果表明:本文所建模型对百合各器官(花、茎、叶、鳞茎、茎生根)干质量的预测效果较好,模型对花、茎、叶、鳞茎、茎生根干质量的预测值与实测值之间的决定系数分别为0.96、0.95、0.86、0.95、0.85,预测相对标准误分别为19.2%、12.4%、19.4%、12.2%、31.7%.-15 kPa可作为切花百合‘索邦’水分管理的临界水势.  相似文献

The allocation of resources to young that will ultimately beleft to die appears counterintuitive. Yet obligate brood reductionhas evolved in a number of species, despite the waste of reproductiveinvestment this may incur. Here we test whether brood parasitismcould be one factor leading to the evolution of obligate broodreduction because surplus eggs in the nest during incubationoffer some protection from the costs of parasitism. Surpluseggs could benefit females in two ways. First, additional eggsmay protect against the direct costs of parasitism by facilitatingrecognition and removal of parasitic eggs with greater accuracy.Second, additional eggs may protect against the indirect costsof parasitism as parasites often damage or remove host eggswhen entering the host nest; surplus eggs may be an essentialinsurance strategy against this damage. We test these possibilitiesin the Montezuma Oropendola (Psarocolius Montezuma), a speciesexperiencing high levels of parasitism by Giant Cowbirds (Scaphiduraoryzivora) throughout their range. Overall rejection rates ofcowbird eggs were high (72%), and experimental addition of parasiticeggs to empty, one-, and two-egg nests demonstrated that recognitionsuccess was unaffected by the presence of additional host eggsfor comparison. However, the value of surplus eggs when oneegg was removed or damaged by a parasite was high; 31.6% ofsuccessful two-egg clutches lost a single egg during incubationand would have failed to produce a chick without a second egg.This was directly attributable to parasitism in at least 33%of all cases. Therefore, despite highly developed host defensesagainst direct costs of parasitism (recognition and removalof parasitic eggs), the associated indirect costs (egg damageand removal) could play an important role in selection for aclutch size that results in more chicks than can be raised.  相似文献

Understanding rules of resource allocation within individuals is helpful in explaining population dynamics. This is particularly the case under the conditions of resource limitation that are commonly experienced by zooplankton. Here, we evaluate assumptions underlying models of resource allocation in Daphnia and test the predictions of two models of response to starvation.
We also test the predictions of two simple models concerning the mechanisms of egg provisioning in Daphnia magna. Our results: (1) demonstrate that provisioning is discontinuous, occurring over a discrete period of the instar; (2) support the hypothesis that egg production occurs in a serial fashion; (3) show that Daphnia magna responds to starvation by ceasing egg production but that there is an increase in mean size of eggs provisioned during the instar, prior to starvation; and (4) broadly support predictions that the response of Daphnia to starvation is an instantaneous cessation of reproduction but that there is a time lag before death.  相似文献

Females tend to be smaller than males in woody dioecious plant species, but they tend to be larger in herbs. The smaller size of females in woody species has been attributed to higher reproductive costs, yet no satisfactory explanation has been provided for their larger size in herbs. Because herbs have higher nitrogen concentrations in their tissues than woody plants, and because pollen is particularly rich in nitrogen, we predicted that male growth would be more compromised by reproduction than female growth. To test this hypothesis, we conducted three experiments on the annual dioecious herb Mercurialis annua. First, we compared the timing of reproduction between males and females and found that males started flowering earlier than females; early flowering is expected to compromise growth more than later flowering. Second, we compared plants allowed to flower with those prevented from flowering by experimental debudding and found that males incurred a higher reproductive cost than females in terms of both biomass and, particularly, nitrogen. Third, we grew plants under varying levels of nitrogen availability and found that although sexual size dimorphism was unaffected by nitrogen, females, but not males, decreased their relative allocation to both roots and reproduction under high nitrogen availability. We propose that males deal with the high cost of pollen production in terms of nitrogen by allocating biomass to nitrogen-harvesting roots, whereas females pay for carbon-rich seeds and fruits by investing in photosynthetic organs. Sexual dimorphism would thus seem to be the outcome of allocation to above- versus below-ground sinks that supply resources (carbon versus nitrogen) limiting the female and male reproduction differentially.  相似文献

The strategy of resource allocation between vegetative and reproductive functions, quantitative relationship between size and reproductive output are central aspects of plant life history. To test the tactics of resource allocation and its altitudinal trend, we examined the reproductive allocation (RA) of Bergenia purpurascens (Saxifragaceae), in six populations along a shady slope in Sejila Mountain of southeast Tibet, at an altitude gradient from 4 200 m to 4 640 m. Our results showed that (1) with increasing altitude, vegetative biomass, reproductive biomass, total aboveground biomass, flower number per plant and length of flower stalk decreased significantly, but the number of leaves did not change greatly. However, the change of RA did not show a monotonic trend when altitude increased, shifting from significantly decreasing below the tree line to slightly increasing above it; (2) vegetative biomass was positively correlated with reproductive biomass, but negatively correlated with RA in all populations, but the level of significance was different among the populations; (3) RA decreased with individual size in all populations, whereas the relationship between absolute resource allocated to reproduction and individual size was allometric; (4) reproductive allometry and a size threshold for reproduction did exist in this alpine perennial, but the obvious altitudinal trend was only found along the populations below the tree line, not above it. We then concluded the altitude could not fully explain the change of resource allocation strategy of this alpine perennial, and different effects of size and habitat on RA may result from various environmental constraints along the altitudinal gradient or genetic background. Therefore, each individual within a population will follow its own developmental trajectory shaped by its genotype and the habitats. The most innovative finding was plant adaptation and resource trade off might be sharply altered at the tree line, which is a sensitive area in alpine mountains. Further investigations are needed to better understand the relationship between the reproductive allocation and changing environmental conditions.  相似文献

以黄土高原丘陵区主要退耕还林树种油松为研究对象,对甘肃省庆阳市合水县采用样地调查与生物量实测方法,分析不同坡向(阳坡、阴坡)及退耕年限(退耕6年、9年和12年)油松人工林的乔木不同器官、灌草层、枯落物层和土壤层的碳含量,以及油松人工林乔木层、灌草层、枯落物层和土壤层碳储量及其分配特征,探讨甘肃黄土高原丘陵区生态林的固碳作用。结果表明:(1)油松不同器官碳含量为48.15%~53.90%,各器官碳含量大小为树干>叶>细枝>粗枝>根桩>粗根>树皮>大根>中根>小根>细根>球果;灌木层碳含量为茎>叶>根;草本层碳含量为地上部分>地下部分。(2)油松人工林的枯落物层碳含量为未分解层大于半分解层。(3)0~100 cm土壤层的碳含量随退耕年限增加而增大,随土壤深度的增加而下降;0~10 cm、10~20 cm土壤层不同坡向间碳含量差异显著。(4)阳坡和阴坡退耕6年、9年和12年油松林总碳储量分别为42.90、50.50、59.22 t·hm-2和45.08、53.77、65.70 t·hm-2。研究认为,黄土高原丘陵区阳坡和阴坡均适宜油松林发挥固碳效益,且阴坡要优于阳坡,是甘肃黄土高原丘陵区的理想树种。  相似文献

Provided the sperm displacement mechanisms are similar to those known in insects, the ESS allocation to sperm versus eggs satisfies a rather simple rule. Williams predicted that reproductive effort should increase as individuals age and their reproductive value declines. This simple prediction has proven difficult to test because conventional measures of energy expenditure on reproduction may not be a true reflection of reproductive effort. We investigated age-specific variation in female reproductive effort in a stable population of North American red squirrels where energy expenditure on reproduction is likely to reflect actual reproductive effort. We used seven measures of reproductive effort spanning conception to offspring weaning. We found that females completed growth by age 3 and that reproductive value decreased after this age likely because of reproductive and survival senescence. We therefore, predicted that reproductive effort would increase from age 3 onwards. The probability of breeding, litter mass at weaning, and likelihood of territory bequeathal were all lower for 1- and 2-year-old females than for females older than 3 years, the age at which growth is completed. That growing females are faced with additional energetic requirements might account for their lower allocation to reproduction as compared with older females. The probability of attempting a second reproduction within the same breeding season and the propensity to bequeath the territory to juveniles increased from 3 years of age onwards, indicating an increase in reproductive effort with age. We think this increase in reproductive effort is an adaptive response of females to declining reproductive values when ageing, thereby supporting Williams' prediction.  相似文献

植物枝叶生长普遍存在显著的正相关关系,决定了植物构型塑造和生物量分配。以上海辰山植物园149种木本植物为对象,通过测定顶枝上70 cm长枝条的直径、叶面积及其生物量,比较相同生境条件下不同生活型木本植物的枝叶大小关系。结果表明,枝条截面积与总叶面积间呈异速生长关系(a=1.148 6,CI=1.000 6~1.302 3),枝条干重与叶干重间呈等速生长关系(a=1.054 2,CI=0.921 3~1.205 6),不同生活型均具有相同的斜率系数a。不同生活型的异速生长常量by轴截距)存在显著差异,相同枝条截面积下落叶乔木比常绿乔木和常绿灌木具有更大的叶面积,相同枝条干重下常绿乔木和落叶乔木比常绿灌木具有更大的叶干重。这可能与不同生活型木本植物水分竞争效率和叶建成成本差异有关。  相似文献

Although numerous studies have addressed the effects of increased N deposition on nutrient-poor environments such as raised bogs, few studies have dealt with to what extent, and on what time-scale, reductions in atmospheric N supply would lead to recovery of the ecosystems in question. Since a considerable part of the negative effects of elevated N deposition on raised bogs can be related to an imbalance in tissue nutrient concentrations of the dominant peat-former Sphagnum, changes in Sphagnum nutrient concentration after excess N supply may be used as an early indicator of ecosystem response. This study focuses on the N and P concentrations of Sphagnum magellanicum and Sphagnum fallax before, during and after a factorial fertilization experiment with N and P in two small peatlands subject to a background bulk deposition of 2 g N m(-2) year(-1). Three years of adding N (4.0 g N m(-2) year(-1)) increased the N concentration, and adding P (0.3 g P m(-2) year(-1)) increased the P concentration in Sphagnum relative to the control treatment at both sites. Fifteen months after the nutrient additions had ceased, N concentrations were similar to the control whereas P concentrations, although strongly reduced, were still slightly elevated. The changes in the N and P concentrations were accompanied by changes in the distribution of nutrients over the capitulum and the stem and were congruent with changes in translocation. Adding N reduced the stem P concentration, whereas adding P reduced the stem N concentration in favor of the capitulum. Sphagnum nutrient concentrations quickly respond to reductions in excess nutrient supply, indicating that a management policy aimed at reducing atmospheric nutrient input to bogs can yield results within a few years.  相似文献

Life history in reproductive pattern in hares are affected by ambient temperature. We hypothesized that European hares dwelling in areas of higher energy demands would have larger body sizes, larger fat depots and a delayed first reproduction. To test this assumption we compared yearly reproductive output as well as age, body size, body weight and body condition of female European hares from Belgium (temperate oceanic climate) and Lower Austria (temperate continental climate). Our results reveal that there was no effect of study site on annual reproductive output in female European hares. However, adult female hares from Belgium were significantly smaller and had significantly lower body condition in late autumn compared to the Lower Austrian sample, although Belgian individuals were actually older than Lower Austrians. These findings suggest that females in Belgium are more under an r-selection regime whereas Lower Austrian females might be more under K-selection within the r-K-continuum.  相似文献

The application of N-free fertilizer (i.e. lime combined with nutrients such as P, Ca, K and Mg) has been suggested as one way of compensating for nitrogen-caused eutrophication and losses of base cations due to atmospheric pollution. To study the effects of such a treatment on mycorrhizal fungi, fine-root samples were collected from the LFH-layer in four Norway spruce stands in southern Sweden. One stand was part of a larger experiment (Skogaby) and had four replicates. It was fertilized twice in 1988–89 (P:K:Ca:Mg:S 48:43:218:46:75 kg ha-1), and sampling was carried out once yearly during 1991–93. The other three stands were fertilized once in 1988–89 (P:K:Ca:Mg:S|25:62:33:12:54 kg ha-1) and sampled in 1992.Ectomycorrhizal fine-roots were classified into morphotypes on the basis of the structure and colours of their external hyphae and fungal mantle. The fungal biomass was estimated in 1992 using ergosterol analysis. In Skogaby, N-free fertilizer had no apparent effects on fungal biomass or on the total number of ECM types. Similar results were obtained for the other three stands. Previously reported 50% reductions in sporocarp production on the fertilized plots at Skogaby can probably be explained by a decrease in carbon allocation to the roots and by a decline in the abundance of a single morphotype which accounted for 3% of the total number of root tips, but ca. 30% of the sporocarp biomass in the control plots in the present study. It is concluded that moderate levels of N-free fertilization are not likely to drastically affect the community structure of the dominating ectomycorrhizal fungi. This result should be interpreted with some caution, however, since it remains to be determined whether the fertilizer treatments affect the function of the nutrient-absorbing soil mycelium of the mycorrhizal fungi.  相似文献

Optimum allocation of resources is of fundamental importance for the efficiency of breeding programs. The objectives of our study were to (1) determine the optimum allocation for the number of lines and test locations in hybrid maize breeding with doubled haploids (DHs) regarding two optimization criteria, the selection gain ΔG k and the probability P k of identifying superior genotypes, (2) compare both optimization criteria including their standard deviations (SDs), and (3) investigate the influence of production costs of DHs on the optimum allocation. For different budgets, number of finally selected lines, ratios of variance components, and production costs of DHs, the optimum allocation of test resources under one- and two-stage selection for testcross performance with a given tester was determined by using Monte Carlo simulations. In one-stage selection, lines are tested in field trials in a single year. In two-stage selection, optimum allocation of resources involves evaluation of (1) a large number of lines in a small number of test locations in the first year and (2) a small number of the selected superior lines in a large number of test locations in the second year, thereby maximizing both optimization criteria. Furthermore, to have a realistic chance of identifying a superior genotype, the probability P k of identifying superior genotypes should be greater than 75%. For budgets between 200 and 5,000 field plot equivalents, P k > 75% was reached only for genotypes belonging to the best 5% of the population. As the optimum allocation for P k (5%) was similar to that for ΔG k , the choice of the optimization criterion was not crucial. Resource allocation is thought to play a key role in the coexistence of different sexual morphs within hermaphroditic species. Indeed, most models assume that sexual functions are subject to a balance between reproductive advantage and energetic cost. Various types of cost (e.g. organ construction, maintenance and utilization) and levels of trade-off (physiological and genetic) may be considered. We here examine physiological and genetic costs of phallus construction and maintenance in Bulinus truncatus, a snail species in which aphallic individuals (without phallus) coexist with regular hermaphrodites. We use a quantitative genetic design involving 37 inbred lines (four populations) known to produce different proportions of aphallics, to test for the existence of genetic and nongenetic correlations between aphally and a range of life-history traits over the totality of the life cycle. Our results show that aphallic and euphallic individuals of the same line do not show consistent differences in either growth, fecundity (including offspring survival), or longevity. Furthermore, none of these traits is genetically correlated across lines with the frequency of the aphallic morph. We conclude that the cost of the construction and maintenance of the phallus must be very low in this species. Future studies should investigate the cost associated with using the phallus (i.e. male outcrossing behaviour) to explain the maintenance of high frequencies of aphallic individuals in natural populations.  相似文献

Sex ratio theory provides a clear and simple way to test if nonsocial haplodiploid wasps can discriminate between kin and nonkin. Specifically, if females can discriminate siblings from nonrelatives, then they are expected to produce a higher proportion of daughters if they mate with a sibling. This prediction arises because in haplodiploids, inbreeding (sib-mating) causes a mother to be relatively more related to her daughters than her sons. Here we formally model this prediction for when multiple females lay eggs in a patch, and test it with the parasitoid wasp Nasonia vitripennis. Our results show that females do not adjust their sex ratio behaviour dependent upon whether they mate with a sibling or nonrelative, in response to either direct genetic or a range of indirect environmental cues. This suggests that females of N. vitripennis cannot discriminate between kin and nonkin. The implications of our results for the understanding of sex ratio and social evolution are discussed.  相似文献

Carbon density and distribution of six Chinese temperate forests   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Quantifying forest carbon (C) storage and distribution is important for forest C cycling studies and terrestrial ecosystem mod-eling. Forest inventory and allometric approaches were used to measure C density and allocation in six representative temper-ate forests of similar stand age (42–59 years old) and growing under the same climate in northeastern China. The forests were an aspen-birch forest, a hardwood forest, a Korean pine plantation, a Dahurian larch plantation, a mixed deciduous forest, and a Mongolian oak forest. There were no significant differences in the C densities of ecosystem components (except for detritus) although the six forests had varying vegetation compositions and site conditions. However, the differences were significant when the C pools were normalized against stand basal area. The total ecosystem C density varied from 186.9 tC hm-2 to 349.2 tC hm-2 across the forests. The C densities of vegetation, detritus, and soil ranged from 86.3–122.7 tC hm-2, 6.5–10.5 tC hm-2, and 93.7–220.1 tC hm-2, respectively, which accounted for 39.7%±7.1% (mean±SD), 3.3%±1.1%, and 57.0%±7.9% of the total C densities, respectively. The overstory C pool accounted for > 99% of the total vegetation C pool. The foliage bio-mass, small root (diameter < 5mm) biomass, root-shoot ratio, and small root to foliage biomass ratio varied from 2.08–4.72 tC hm-2, 0.95–3.24 tC hm-2, 22.0%–28.3%, and 34.5%–122.2%, respectively. The Korean pine plantation had the lowest foliage production efficiency (total biomass/foliage biomass: 22.6 g g-1) among the six forests, while the Dahurian larch plantation had the highest small root production efficiency (total biomass/small root biomass: 124.7 g g-1). The small root C density de-creased with soil depth for all forests except for the Mongolian oak forest, in which the small roots tended to be vertically dis-tributed downwards. The C density of coarse woody debris was significantly less in the two plantations than in the four natu-rally regenerated forests. The variability of C allocation patterns in a specific forest is jointly influenced by vegetation type, management history, and local water and nutrient availability. The study provides important data for developing and validating C cycling models for temperate forests.  相似文献

In long-term clinical studies, recurrent event data are sometimes collected and used to contrast the efficacies of two different treatments. The event reoccurrence rates can be compared using the popular negative binomial model, which incorporates information related to patient heterogeneity into a data analysis. For treatment allocation, a balanced approach in which equal sample sizes are obtained for both treatments is predominately adopted. However, if one treatment is superior, then it may be desirable to allocate fewer subjects to the less-effective treatment. To accommodate this objective, a sequential response-adaptive treatment allocation procedure is derived based on the doubly adaptive biased coin design. Our proposed treatment allocation schemes have been shown to be capable of reducing the number of subjects receiving the inferior treatment while simultaneously retaining a test power level that is comparable to that of a balanced design. The redesign of a clinical study illustrates the advantages of using our procedure.  相似文献
